Well, you know, we saw him have a tremendous season,
and we all held our breath the second half of
that game in Tarleton because we didn't know what to expect.
It did not like we got a lot of information
about what he was facing. He left in an ambulance
and so we knew nothing, and so great to see
him back out here.

Today is the Spring Showcase, and right now the offense
and timeout was called in the field. Is Jerry Kaminski
in there at this time a quarterbacking the projected obviously
number one? And you know this is a real deal, Mike.
When you started your coaching career and then on into college,
even though you know you and I and Paul I've
been together with you now for fourteen fifteen years, you
know we didn't we weren't talking and I we talked

transfers maybe, but we weren't talking where the environment is now.
And I think you know the memories of of of
of Lance, and you bring up the injury and the
ambulance on the field in Texas, just it was a
gut punch, and your your thoughts immediately weren't about his
his uh, you know, football, just his livelihood, just feeling better.
And then when that was cleared up, and and that
(02:34):
was you, you're think, Okay, that's good. The next big
thing was, well, you know, we're gonna lose them, because
that's the mentality now any any player, certainly at the
FCS level and even certainly a f BS levels, when
when they have the exemplary seasons, odds are it's just
the foregone conclusion that they're gonna they're gonna go, They're
gonna be uh chasing whatever. And so it's almost to

a point where I think, I think, I don't want
to speak for Paul and you, but I think you're
just going, well, probably not gonna have Lance Rucker next year.
And then when he dropped the the social tweet of
run it back or I'm back whatever that was, I
think you could hear a collective cheer from the north
end of the valley.

Absolutely, And it wasn't only Lance, it was Jerry Kaminsky.
There were other several others who had big numbers thrown
at them that saw something else and are here. And
so we're happy to see that. And there's there's always
more involved in that situation than then it's on the surface.
But I don't know if I'm not doing my job anymore.
I've just given up even paining attention that I'm kind

of like Paul has said to us a number of times, Well,
there's a game schedule.

that field level. We know about his arm, his decision making.
How much of Jerry's legs will be an impact in
the upcoming season? I will, Paul, I'll tell that to you. Mike.

see those legs. That's part of the reason he's here.

Uh. Danny Frynd was well aware of his ability. Danny
Fryn recruited and coached that him. You know, some of
us forget that he's not new to Jerry Kominski. I
have seen more use of Jerry's legs. That's one of
the things Danny has emphasized. He wants Jerry to make
good decisions, and that means sometimes pulling that ball down

and gone, and we will see him run option. We
will see him run quarterback sweeps and bootlegs and and
probably open up his playbook.

Good to hear that, yeah, And then that's why I
praised it to the decision making process every quarterback at
the collegiate level, and Jerry's not the only one. Javan's
two po want to Johnson. Good to see him healthy
back this year. You know, Sue Luk, They've got the
young the other up and comer Wisconsin boy Brooks Hendrickson.
Not to mention the commitments Mike that thought they could

have just received from a pretty stand out of high
school kid in the state of Minnesota. We can get
that at another time. But but it's the progression of
decision making and and and I imagine Mike from a
quarterback spot. We'll talk more than Danny on this, it's
what the OC puts on their plate from this point
and then that plate maybe grows during the course of

her career.

Well, I think it does. And I think what sometimes
fans don't realize is the offensive coordinated and the quarterback
are like a team themselves. They together come up game
to game with what's gonna work for us this week?
When we when we look at the opponents, what do
we feel comfortable with? Quarterback makes a lot of calls
on the field, on the line of scrimmage after the

often that play has changed and that's all the quarterbacks,
