Speaker 1 (00:06):
Good morning everyone.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
I want to welcome you to Healing Begins.

Speaker 3 (00:09):
My name is Pastor Gail Krack, and I'm so glad
you've chose to join me. I don't know what you're doing,
whether you're getting this over the radio or by the
podcast channel leader. But today we have Pastor Sheldon Lee
Stball and he has written a new book called His Stories,
got other books coming out, and I just.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Want him to say hi.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
And I think that you're going to find that this
is an exciting topic because he deals with stress, anxiety,
substance abuse, and other things through faith. And I think
this will be very helpful. So welcome Pastor Sheldon. You
want to say hi to everybody.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
Hello everyone, and thank you for having me.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
So why don't you just share a little bit about
yourself and what God has havn you do?

Speaker 1 (00:52):
All right, So a little bit of history of myself.
I was born and raised in spring From Massachusetts, where
my fond other pastor now bishops. So that's the only
church I've ever been a member of. And just growing up,
you know, Springfield is not as big as people think,
so to me it's a small town. So growing up

(01:13):
I wanted to get out of there, and I wanted
to live and do something else, something else in my life,
and God redirected my life. I wanted to be a
movie producer, and he redirected my life to counseling. So
I've been a clinical counselor for the last seven years.
Recently the Lord called me hire into the ministry as

(01:35):
a pastor. So of course, men, if you may not know,
but those of you who are licensed, we cannot mix
the two, especially if the client does not mention anything.
So as people began coming to my office, you know,
when I first started, I just wanted to help, you know,
whatever issue they had, I wanted to help. And so,

(01:58):
you know, as much as I wanted to say, you know,
all you have to do is read. All you have
to do is you know, call in the name of
Jesus and He's going to work this out, I couldn't
do it. So I had to do it kind of
kind of figure out how to put the Lord in faith.
And recently I had went through a period of depression,

(02:19):
deep depression. This happened in November of twenty twenty four.
My son had been missing. Sorry it's very emotional. He'd
been he had been missing for I don't know how long,
probably so November, Summer, Jeneral March for four months and
I heard my son every day. He's been diagnosed with schizophrenia,

(02:42):
and so my son calls me five times a day,
seven times a day. And throughout the time that I
talked to my son, I've taught him how to when
he's not feeling himself to go to the hospital. So
you know, if I don't hear from for a couple
of days, I'm sure he's in the hospital. And so
I called the hospit under twenty four I said, have
you heard from my Sonny? And they said no. I said, well,

(03:04):
that's strange. They said, yeah, he hasn't been here for
this much of time. I said, really, And I called
the program that he's a part of. They hadn't heard
from him. And as time continued and we got to
March and my older brother was found dead. Yeah, so
at that time, I, you know, my brother has been

(03:25):
close to me. I have five brothers, and he's my
oldest and I have three younger ones. So of course,
you know, I had to be sent with him everywhere.
Growing up, all I knew was my big brother, and
you know, recently, I didn't hear from him either, and
I'm like, what's going on? So I got really worried
and I started calling everybody that new him, and not

(03:48):
even two days later, he was found dead in the river.
So from there I fell down. I fell all the
way down, deep in depression. I even had an ex
glass of wine like on Sundays. My wife was like,
what's going on with you? But I just could not
pull myself out of it. I could not get out

(04:08):
of it, and I didn't go to work. I just
I couldn't get out the bed. And so you know,
my dad came over and pray for me. My brother,
who's also pastor, pastor Ede called him. He came over
and pray for me, and I just I told myself,
I just don't want to live. I don't want to
be here anymore. And it was just it, you know,

(04:28):
weighed me down. So long story short, I woke up
one morning and God put it in my spirit to
read the Book of Caves. So I started with chapter one,
and as I began to read it, for some reason,
I saw mental health in the chapter and so I
decided to just log it on my Facebook page, which

(04:50):
is cod church, and so that was day one. In
day two, I read the next chapter and then I
put a mental health connection on it, kind of put
a chapter summary. And then I went to day three
and I'm just laying there and I still wouldn't go
out to the bed. I wouldn't wash my poor wife.
She's listening and she she was there for me, but

(05:13):
I wouldn't eve get up and take a shower. And
so by the time I got to day seven, I
started noticing that other people started viewing my Bible study
liking it, you know, thank you for writing this and
being encouraged. So I said, okay, this is strange. And
so by the time I got to day fifteen, I
got up out to bed and I walked into their

(05:36):
room and I just said, I'm better. And I'm not
sure how, but for some reason, God just gave me
strength and with this, with this daily devotion that I did,
which restored that's where it came from. Each day I
got better and better. And what I learned was and

(05:57):
we all know we've read the look of kings nothing
but turmoil and emotional travail, and this king's down. The
Ezra went to God and it turned from God a
lot of mental health things going on back and forth.
But God remained faithful. He remained faithful, and he chased
after those he loved. And so when I reflected back

(06:20):
to myself, I said, God, as much as I'm sitting
here hollering and I just don't want to live anymore,
which is not like me, like that's nothing. You know,
as a church, we're growing up. The one thing that's
going to keep you out of heaven is taking your
whole life. And so we all know that, and so
we were brought we were instilled with that as children,
and for me to have to face that, it was tough.

(06:44):
But God remained faithful. And by the time I think,
I said, I got to chapter fifteen, I got about
the bed, I felt the weight lift off of me,
and I just turned to God and said, I can't
take this depression anymore. I cannot take this pain, and

(07:05):
God removed it from my body. And so this did
not start out as a daily devotion and emotional healing
prayer book. It was my life and it was a
journey from what I thought I was going to end up,
which is dead to emotional healing. And so this book

(07:27):
is fresh it's brand new. The tools for healing anxiety, stress,
and substitutes all came about from these chapters I'm writing,
and as both a licensed professional counselor and a pastor,
I wrote this book to bridge the gap between faith
and emotional wellness. So each day walks the reader through

(07:49):
lessons from first Kings, focusing on practicing tools for managing anxiety, stress,
substitutes while struggling with their faith and peace of mind.
So what makes Restored thirty Days different in structure is
that we go chapter by chapter and we concentrate on
one subject at a time, which I find makes it
easier for young people and really anyone to follow, understand,

(08:12):
and receive. So it's not just a devotional, it's a
daily journey of transformation. You'll learn to quiet your thoughts,
renew your faith, and also understand that you are not
your diagnosis, still restored, your misery, your ministry. That's right,
that's right. And now this devotion is up to one

(08:34):
hundred thousand readers a week plus, and this is only
since the last two and a half weeks, and so
now it's turned into a ministry. I get up each
morning just like this morning, and I posted today, what's
going on today? And lastly, I'm not sure how much
time I have left. But it's also in real time

(08:56):
because in first Kings, you know, you call the famine,
and right now that forty two million Americans are struggling
with their food. They're not eating. Some of the churches
have decided to give some food from the pantries, but
that's not enough, that's not even gonna last enough what

(09:20):
they have. And so one of the books that I
wrote about fifteen years ago was called where is the Storehouse?
And that I talked about you know, the fact that
you know, yes, we're collecting the money into the church.
You know, that's what Joseph did. He collected things. When

(09:40):
that family was coming with the seven Good Years, he
collected food, and when the famine came, he had enough
where no one was hungry. This is not the case.
God has sent warning after warning after warning, and many
of them did not take heed. In fact, some of
them were collecting ties. On Sunday, one of the churches

(10:04):
I visited, he actually got up and had the nerve
to say, you know, bring your ties. Malachia three intense,
every meet in my house. Eat And I'm like Wow, like,
people really need food today. So it wasn't all bad.
We had one pastor in Atlanta who actually asked everyone

(10:25):
to take their ties, go grocery shopping and bring that in,
So it wasn't all bad. But for the for the
most part, we are in a time of famine right now.
It's modern day famine. So now I'm hoping that when
you do go but purchase this book, it is going
to bring you through this emotionally. It's going to help
relieve your stress, but it's also going to renew your

(10:47):
faith in God, because God did take care of his
people during the famine in first case, and I want
to say thank you so much. Hin.

Speaker 3 (10:56):
I mean, you've been through some really rough stuff, losing
your brother him, finding him gone and dead, and and
you're with your son and everything. I know there's people
that are going to listen to this, are going to
really relate to it because they're probably asking, well, how
they probably want some good tips of how you make
it through, you know, because some people are just hanging

(11:20):
on by one the last not at the end of
the rope, and they don't know if they're going to
make it from one day to the next. So fastor
do you have any any simple advice for some of
them that are listening to you.

Speaker 1 (11:33):
Yes, this is a fact of personal experience. And I'm
going to say this, and because it's something, like I said,
kind of brand new evil to me. Going back to
Jesus being in the garden, because right before his death,
right before you know, they call to get them for
him to go to be crucified. The Bible said that
he was overwhelmed. And of course, as a clinician, when

(11:56):
I hear the word overwhelmed from a client, I'm like,
oh my goodness, he's anxious. Right, And then he began
to develop physical symptoms, right, sweating profusely. Right, even when
he spoke to Peter, He's like, you know, he was
a little agitated, Like you know, you guys couldn't sit
up with me for a few weeks. Right, these are
all symptoms of anxiety. Right. But what did Jesus do?

(12:22):
He got right on his knees and he asked God,
He said, can you remove this cup from me? He
asked God? In any son, I have a son. My
son asked me if he cannot handle something, and he
asked me to help him. I will help him. And
God answered them, and he let him know that he
could not what I believe. And this is just what

(12:44):
I believe, because, like I said, a lot of this
is a brand new concept. That is was Jesus connecting
humanity to God for the first time. God seeing his
son going through this. Right, the power of the mind
is so strong. Our minds are able to go from
a mental health situation to become a physical situation in

(13:08):
our body. That's power. Right, So God, when he saw
his son, God understood us, and he understood, yes, oh
I get it now. I did give them power, power
that makes things come to be, from even in their
mind to their body. And so as Jesus went and said,

(13:30):
Father helped me take this up away from me. That's
what I did. I said, God, I cannot bear this.

Speaker 3 (13:36):
That the Lord don't put stuff on us, but he
does allow it. He allows us to go through the trials.
You know, there's so many people out there that got
a bad image of God and have some really bad
theology to go along with it.

Speaker 1 (13:49):
You know that pastor you've met, right, Like I said,
we all hear that, and that's not what I want.

Speaker 3 (13:54):
You want people to know how much God loves it
and cares about them even in their darkest hour. That's
why you're on That's why your voice needs to be
out there. That you experienced all this loss, in this stress,
anxiety and everything. You went through it, but you made it.
You made it on the other side. And I think

(14:15):
that's another great message to give people. You can make it.

Speaker 1 (14:20):
Yes, and also ask God for help. Right, that was
my point where I was going to Jesus said God,
can you take this from me?

Speaker 4 (14:29):
Right?

Speaker 1 (14:29):
And so I said, Lord, can you take this from me?
But I had to grow in my faith to understand that,
and he did take it from me. Today, I'm smiling today,
I'm very much alive, want to be here. I'm eating again,
and I'm showery again.

Speaker 4 (14:45):
Right.

Speaker 1 (14:45):
I've written books, right, I've written several books, but I
also shared I found my purpose and I share my
experience live real time. So this book is actually very alive.
I have not forgot about the young people, and hopefully
if I get an opportunity again to come back, I

(15:06):
will talk about the Sunday School books that I am
working on for young people.

Speaker 3 (15:11):
Why don't you get that great your book again where
it can be founded maybe your website that people can
go to.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
Yes, so the name of my book is restored. Thirty

you can type in to d Church and you'll see
our program where you will actually get these daily devo

(16:04):
shoals live each day.

Speaker 3 (16:07):
Yeah, because people need good resources. I know if you're
listening to us out there. The podcast channel, The Healing
Begins podcast channel. Spiritual Care has all of a sudden
taken a jump and downloads, I mean last month, two
downloads just in one month.

Speaker 1 (16:26):
Now where we were where.

Speaker 3 (16:29):
We were averaging like four to eight hundred downloads a month.
But that means that people are hurting, people are looking
for resources. Pastor, why don't you lift up a little
prayer for a couple of minutes for people that are
hurting and people that are suffering anxiety and loss, and

(16:49):
once you lift up a prayer.

Speaker 1 (16:53):
Thank you just ask no listeners if you will just
fold your hands and bow your head and prayer unless
you're driving, Unless you're driving. Heavenly Father, we thank you
for every listener tuned in today. Thank you for allowing
us to introduce faith and mental health, two powerful gifts

(17:16):
that you've designed to work together for our healing and growth. Lord,
we ask that you meet each person right where they are.
Let your peace rests upon their hearts and your presence
remind them that they are never alone. God, give them
the courage to accept the things that they cannot understand,

(17:38):
and strengthen to trust you even when life feels confusing
or heavy. Replace fear with faith, anxiety with assurance, and
doubt with divine confidence. Help them to see that healing
is not a weakness, but a journey of faith guided

(17:59):
by your hand. Use this broadcast, the Lord to plant
the seeds of hope, restoration, and renewal that every word
spoken today draws someone closer to You. Strengthen their mind
and restore their spirit and Jesus Mighty Name, Amen, well, we.

Speaker 2 (18:18):
Have about four minutes left.

Speaker 3 (18:19):
Is there anything else that any other things you want
to say to encourage people that are listening, because I
know that this will be really listened to by a
lot of people. So anything else you want to add
to them and talk to them about.

Speaker 1 (18:36):
Yes, God has brought this in my mind this morning.
We are in real time. Although the word of God
may seem like it gets been written two thousand years ago,
we are in real time. Famine is nothing new, and
you would think, oh, well, people reserve food, they should

(18:57):
have a deep freezer. These are young, right, with children
that they didn't expect to have fathers in jail. Right,
that's what the system is for. These are disabled people
who did the best they can whatever disability they have,
they're doing the best they can. Right. So this is
not what we're thinking it should be. Some of the

(19:19):
food pantries, right, I've worked in a couple of food pantries.
They give pieces two things of meat and depending on
the family size. So if it's the family size of two, right,
you get one piece of meat for the week. Right,
you get a whole bunch of cereal. Some rice. Things
are not as what you think it is. You know,

(19:41):
if you can help, if you can give, I would
encourage you to pray to God and ask how can
I help right, and ask the Lord to lead you
and direct you on what to do right, because this
world needs a saint now. They need the Christians, They
need those of us who fear God and follow his words.

(20:03):
They need us. And so I part with that that
just when you get up in the morning, pray, ask
the Lord what it is that you would have me
to do, and he is going to bless you.

Speaker 2 (20:17):
You know, we're living in the end days.

Speaker 3 (20:19):
Matthew twenty four said, in the last days, kingdom against kingdom,
nation against nation, there would be famine, earthquakes, and pestiles
in various places. And we're literally living in those days
right now as we speak. And I think as believers,
it is good that we look for our neighbors that

(20:40):
are hurting and help them.

Speaker 1 (20:41):
And I think I.

Speaker 3 (20:42):
Even heard on some this has been on Facebook a
little bit, that there are neighbors going through this time,
neighbors helping neighbors.

Speaker 1 (20:52):
The Bible says, do unto others as.

Speaker 3 (20:55):
You would have them do unto you, And so I
think that that's a great thing that we ought to
look for in Aso and not aly that, but look
for ways that we could pray for people, help people
anyway we can lend a hand to somebody that's hurting,
someone that's down.

Speaker 2 (21:13):
Don't look at political party. Throw that out the window,
throw that right out the window. We're in the human race.
The last time I checked, we got brothers and sisters
all around us that are hurting. And so I want
to say a prayer right now.

Speaker 3 (21:27):
We have a little bit a couple about a minute
and a half left, and Lord, I just thank you
for everybody that's listening. Lord, send your angels forth to
minister to those who shall be heirs of salvation. And Lord,
I pray in the name of Jesus, that your comfort
would go forth, that your healing would go forth. In
the name of Jesus, that you administer and move during

(21:49):
this time in which we live.

Speaker 1 (21:51):
Thank you for Pastor Sheldon.

Speaker 3 (21:54):
Thank you for the book Restored because I know that
it's going to help many people.

Speaker 1 (22:00):
And Jesus' name.

Speaker 2 (22:02):
Amen.

Speaker 1 (22:03):
We have about one minute left. Listeners, listen. I'd like
to hear from you.

Speaker 3 (22:07):

Lord cause his face to shine upon you, be gracious
to you and give you a piece, And may you
know there's always hope even when days are dark.

Speaker 1 (22:39):
And you have any final words you'd like to say,
pastor I'll bless you. Thank you all for listening. Those
