Speaker 1 (00:07):
I want to welcome you into handling begins. My name
is Pastor Gale, and this.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
Is Stephanie Butler. I'm so glad to be with you.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
We've decided on a topic today called why people walk
away from Faith? This is so good? Why people walk
away from faith? Have you ever seen that happen, Stephanie.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
Well, as you were talking about it, as we were
preparing here, I was actually thinking about the wrong the
young ruler, the young rich ruler, that story about the man,
and you know, all these things. He thought that he
was doing so well. I've done that since my youth, right, Like,
I'm a pretty good person, right, And then when the
Lord said he'd have to give up all his money,
he got disillusioned. Wow, that's going to cost too much, right,
(00:51):
And then he walked away.
Speaker 1 (00:53):
Well, and he really wanted to come to faith too,
but he was struggling. And then I'm thinking about people
that I've known over the years, that were even in
the ministry. But you can't find him anywhere now, and
you're like, what in the world are you doing? You know,
I'm going to say something that a lot of people
(01:13):
aren't gonna like, but I don't see it Anyways, I
have listened to some near death experiences about hell were
in Hell there was a whole section of people that
thought they were Christian. Why is walking away from faith
so devastating and important to talk about? It? Says in
(01:34):
Hebrews that when you walk away, if you've tasted of
the powers of the age to come, and you walk
away and you say, you know what, I'm walking away
from this now, I already can hear people say, well,
no one can take me out of God's saying you're right,
but you can remove yourself. You have a free choice.
(01:55):
And so people will say, well, if that's what God
is like, then want anything to do with the God
you serve. Well, that's just perfect that you say that,
because now you actually just played right into the devil's hands.
I mean, people need to think about this. If you're
getting ready to throw it all out and walk away
(02:15):
from faith, that's exactly what the devil would want you
to do. Why would you do anything the devil would
want you to do? Because his end for you is
destruction and to annihilate your purpose on the face of
this planet and.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
To torment you for eternity. It's like, is that really
what you want. So people are like, well, hell is
not real, we just ceased too this, Yes it is,
It's very real. In fact, it's not only real. It
has levels. There's different compartments and places where people go
depending on what's idle or sin. They clung to that
they were unwilling to give up.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
And the hard place about hell was if you land
there knowing and having the light of salvation, and you
went there anyways, whoa. The Bible says that tea will
give more strict account because they taught the word of God.
And so maybe you're under the sound of my voice
and you were once in the ministry, but you had
to step down because of sin or because you blew it. Hey,
(03:13):
don't give up. The gifts and calling of God are irrevocable.
Don't ever give up. Don't turn your back, and don't
walk away.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
So and there, I want to be clear, there is
forgiveness available God. The Lord's grace is sufficient, but it
is also good. There's a lot going on in our
nation right now regards to accusation. Yeah, perfection, expecting perfection.
The holiness is required to operate in a place of
leadership in the body of Christ. However, believers will miss
(03:44):
it many times because they have something demonic going on,
or some trauma going on, or a stronghold they're not
aware of, and they can miss it. But they need
to sit down and get hold and part of the
problem in the nation right now, and in the corporate
church really in our particular nation at least, why we're
seeing so much sin come to the surfaces because we
(04:06):
have not done the greatest job is the church when
we bring people to salvation, taking the time, like Paul
and Timothy talked about, don't let them be an elder
for three or four years. We look at their banking
skills and their management skills and their pocketbook, and we
want to get them into leadership right away because they're
a great orator. That is not the way of the Lord.
We've got to begin to disciple people, get them wholehearted,
(04:28):
and then pray and ask Solar, where do you want
them in ministry? There should be accountability components in place.
This is kind of a sore spot for me right
now because we're seeing it ramp coming out and Facebook
and it makes us look bad. And I want to
say this too. Okay, this is something else that's been
really raising. Okay, you've got these young people who I
(04:49):
believe are very well meaning. They're justice. We want the
truth we want. But I'm going to tell you something.
If you have not investigated a matter and you are
opening your mouth to speak to it on a public platform,
you are out of order in Jesus' name, and you
needed to sit down and be quiet. If you've heard
a rumor or you've heard that something happened, you need
(05:09):
to go to the individual, like Matthew eighteen said, and
find out what happened. Have the conversation behind closed doors
out of respect for the Lord, and find out if
it was dealt with properly, because if it was, you
don't bring it public. It defames the Lord. It makes
the body of Christ look bad. And we've got a
lot of that going on in our nation right now,
(05:29):
and it's a problem.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
Well now that if people need to be aware of
what the witches are doing.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
Right absolutely, let me just say this.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
Witches are going on Facebook getting fake accounts and then
they will look at a ministry and accuse them of
something they never did. And they absolutely they want you
to bite on that. Yeah, and you got to realize
that not everything on Facebook is true exactly. The fact
a lot of the business leaders in our area say,
who looks at Facebook that none of that is true anyways.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
So fake news.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
You got to realize with Ai and all that nowadays,
you really got to have discernment. I'm gonna tell you
what's my heart, Stepanie. I got another thing. We have
raised a generation of broken people, and from that generation
God is called broken people to become broken pastors through
congregations that are broken, broken and they're not dealing with
(06:24):
the issues of the soul. Oh, I got it all.
I received Jesus. No, you don't have you have all
of Jesus. But man, there's a lot of in the
body of Christ. Yeah, and that's why people walk away.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
Yeah, yeah, because it makes us look like hypocrites. Well,
that doesn't align with the character of Christ, that doesn't
align with the love of God. They're not actually holy reasonably,
so so that does make people walk away. I think
that's why this is such an irritation of the Holy Spirit.
Like I feel a holy irritation on this. So if
you're listening and you're in ministry, get it together, do
the work you need to do to get wholehearted and
(06:58):
stop making excuses, because we are coming into an age
with the glory of God is coming forth. And I'll
tell you the truth. You do not want to be
like Anonyse and Saphira, where you walk in thinking you're
in one place, the glory of God shows up and
you're being carried out with your husband.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
Well, I want to say this. Maybe you're a pastor
and you're listening and there's an area of sin in
your life that you don't have conquered, and you want
to talk to somebody, but you're call us, Yes, get
an appointment with me called two six nine one, two
six nine nine one. We will help you. We will
help you find him and get the deliberate tradition and
(07:35):
set you free and no one will know about it.
And you can go back and you can, pastor, you
can be free from that because, believe me, you know
what pastors won't do. They won't make the call for
help because they don't know who to talk.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
To well, and it's hard, right who do they trust?
Speaker 1 (07:48):
Right?
Speaker 2 (07:48):
They're under attack all the time. So this is a
great opportunity if you're a leader or you're doing some
time of ministry to get that help you need in
a confidential and safe way. But you've got to get hold.
Speaker 1 (07:59):
Spiritual care is not a denomination or just Christian. So
we'd love to help you. So let's talk about some
reasons why people walk away from faith. Clearly number one
personal suffering or pain.
Speaker 2 (08:11):
Sure.
Speaker 1 (08:12):
Yeah, whoever said life would be without suffering in.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
This world you will have trouble.
Speaker 1 (08:19):
Did Paul suffer?
Speaker 2 (08:20):
Absolutely? Oh my goodness, And in fact he said, I
count it all good to be able to take up
the sufferings that remain in Christ Jesus. It's actually part
of our calling. Have you read that verse we talked
about taking up the sufferings? No?
Speaker 1 (08:34):
I took that verse out of my Bibley, I.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
Know want sometimes right, we want to take it out.
I get it. But it's like, wait a minute, what
an honor and a privilege. He laid down his life
for us, He paid the whole cost.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
But Paul, he's the one that also said these light
and momentary afflictions are working for us in the eternal
way and glory of the far aways of all. Paul
did not have a mindset, our stronghold in his mindset. Absolutely,
if you'd had a pain and suffering stronghold. He couldn't
have saw beyond the pain and suffering. What happens is
(09:08):
you get into pain and suffering and say, well, if
this is what God is all about, then I want
nothing to do with them. God had nothing to do
with the pain and suffering you're going through. It happens
to do with the fallen world we're in. Go get
some healing with it. Don't throw out the baby with
the bath water. And that's what people do. They see
pain and suffering. Believe me, working for nine years in
(09:32):
a trauma center, I've seen suffering.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
Yeah, I have two.
Speaker 1 (09:37):
And believers suffer.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
Yes, yes, but they made.
Speaker 1 (09:41):
They made it through their faith.
Speaker 2 (09:43):
And Okay, I was talking to God about this one
time because of what I do, being an apostle in
the body, it comes with a price. Okay, you count
the costs. It's a lot that we have to endure
this so that others don't have to endure to forge
us into the weapon fit for the work. And I
was kind of, honestly, I was kind of complaining to
the Lord. I'm like, why does it have to be
like this? You promised us blessings, you promised us, you know,
(10:04):
these good things righteousness, peace and joy? Where is that?
And he said, Stephanie, should it be an easy thing
for someone to lead in the armies of the Living God?
Should it be an easy thing for someone to be
a general in my army? I was like, Oh, I
never thought about it. He goes, think about your world.
(10:27):
What do they do for the Delta Force? What do
they do for in the navy? What do they do
with it for the rangers? Is that an easy process?
Speaker 1 (10:34):
No?
Speaker 2 (10:34):
Why is it not an easy process? Because those men
and those women are going to have to endure much
hardship and they need to be prepared for it. So
it's actually part of my preparation process. But it blew
my mind and it made me think about it differently.
God's not trying to harm you. He's not enjoying the
process of causing you to suffer. But he is causing
(10:55):
you to grow up. He's causing you to be able
to endure, to persevere because perseverance produces character and character hope,
and this is actually what you were made for. It
will pass, but it will not destroy you if you
keep your eyes on Christ and you keep getting back
up saying, Lord, what is it that I'm clinging to
that's causing me such pain or what is it? You
(11:16):
want me to grow in boldness? And like Pastor Gale
was talking about earlier, that I have to address so
that this thing can't keep creating havoc in my life
and I can move forward with greater authority, with more peace,
with more clarity, and not allowed chaos in my minst
super important lessons.
Speaker 1 (11:32):
Another reason people walk away from faith is unanswered prayers
and unmet expectations. Probably that's a big one. Yeah, well,
you prayed and prayed and prayed and prayed, and you
know I knew. I knew a lady that prayed for me,
for gosh, she prayed for five years for me to
come back to the Lord, and then a month or
(11:54):
two before she died, I finally came back to the
Lord and went to Bible College. Anyway, she prayed and
prayed and prayed. And sometimes people stand in faith for healing,
they stand in faith for this and they've prayed for weeks, months,
or even some years, and they say, well, is God
really hearing my prayer? If God was real, why am
I suffering? Does He really love me? And so that
(12:15):
leads into the third reason, people walk from faith intellectual
doubts or questions about science, philosophy, and scripture. By the way,
I want to say this, this is all normal. This
is normal, so you can have doubts. And it's not
bad to ask God questions. It's not wrong to ask
God the why questions? Right all, But this happens a lot.
(12:39):
I mean, I mean, I have a friend right now.
He's been suffering for years. But here's what he doesn't see.
Are you ready for this stuff? And he he's suffering,
but at the same time he doesn't see his blessings.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
Yeah, went upon life billows. You are tempted.
Speaker 1 (12:58):
To toss when you are just scurry, is thinking all
is lost? Counter man, He's blessing name than one by one,
and it will surprise you what the Lord has done.
So he's in suffering. But I said to him, Monday,
can't you see that you're blessed? He goes, what do
you mean? I go, you got good health, you do
(13:19):
have enough money to take care of yourself. I mean
I was going down name him his blessings.
Speaker 2 (13:24):
You can walk, you can breathe.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
But all he can see is that the things he's
been through over the years of his life, which is
a lot, and now all his family is gone. He
has only one more family member left on earth, and
so it's so hard when all you can see is
you're suffering.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
Yeah, think on those things that are noble and good
and praiseworthy and true, because they are there, they're in
your life. If you sit down and you counter blessings,
it will.
Speaker 4 (13:58):
Completely change the whole the whole feeling of your day,
the whole focus of your day, and you'll be able
to go through your day with joy, with appreciation, with
the thankful heart. It will literally change your life.
Speaker 1 (14:14):
The other reason people walk away from faith is hypocrisy,
are hurt from religious institutions and leaders. That is so true.
That's probably the number one bait. I'm gonna say the
bait because John Bavier calls that debate of Satan being
offended in church. And the reason that the enemy does
(14:35):
that is because to get you to go away from church.
But here's the bottom line. I have met pastors and
I've known pastors that got removed from their congregations because
they fell into a life of sin. Okay, that happens. Well,
I have a question for you, are your eyes on
(14:55):
the pastor, or are your eyes on the Jesus? If not,
you'll be a disaster. You gotta always remember man is man.
Pastors are not perfect. They have issues, they have things,
they go through the healing.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
They're on our journey, they're on their past.
Speaker 1 (15:15):
Just recently, there was a pastor and I won't name
the situation because this broadcast probably covers that area, but
there was something that happened and they both had to
step out of ministry. Very prominent. All right, but you
know what.
Speaker 2 (15:31):
There's still grace.
Speaker 1 (15:33):
But God's whole idea there is to restore. It's to restore.
And so don't walk away from church or God because
some religious leader wound up a disaster. I knew another guy.
Speaker 2 (15:49):
Well, then all have sinned and fallen short of the
glory of God. Right, you don't know the pressures that
are in a pastor until you hold that position.
Speaker 1 (15:56):
This other guy got found out, went to prison for
what he did, him for embezzlement. And then while he
was then he got out of prison early and they
put him in a teen challenge and he spent the
remaining part of his days playing his guitar and singing
on Facebook. Now, some people didn't like it, But would
we have loved David who committed adultery and killed Jeriah?
(16:20):
And I honestly believe the guy. I honestly believe he
made it to heaven. God gave him grace and put
him in a teen challenge. He had cancer, and then
he died of cancer and no one, they didn't bury him,
no one did anything for him. And I felt bad
because I actually knew the guy. I actually prayed over
him in the hospital. I've actually traveled with him before
(16:43):
a little bit. But his sin sooner or later came out,
which took him out of the ministry.
Speaker 2 (16:50):
Well, and it'll catch up with you, that's the deal.
It will be shouted from the rooftops. That's why getting
whole is so important.
Speaker 1 (16:57):
But the problem with this situation it left everybody around
him with anger and unforgiveness. Now I want you to
hear that. Don't allow that.
Speaker 2 (17:07):
That's right. Well, And in some ways, when a leader falls,
it's a test for you as a sheep, as a believer,
as a follower. Does it make you offended? Does it
make you bitter? Does it make you walk away from God?
Then I would say to you, how much did you
really love him in the first place. If someone else's
sin can cause you to walk away, can you say
that you really love him, you really believe, you really
(17:29):
follow him, and you lay down his life, that you're
picking your cross up daily. You know.
Speaker 1 (17:34):
God spoke to me once in the Book of Proverbs
when I was complaining, and he gave me the scripture says,
if you falter in the day of trouble, how little
is your strength? Oh my goodness, yes, my goodness, that's
a good word. Lord, thank you. We get a little
bit of trouble and we whine and we complain because
we think it's bad. Well, you know, I look up
(17:57):
Paul and all that went through. They sure went through
a lot of trouble. So people walk away from faith.
We got a couple more reasons down here, shifting culture
and social norms, the desire for personal autonomy, and lifestyle choices.
I'm going to change that, the sinful choices. People want
their sin, which is idolatry, and they don't want to
(18:19):
give it up, and then they still want to go
into heaven with their sin. And then the other one
was the influence of secular and alternative belief systems or
a lack of deep personal connection or spiritual experience. I
love R. W. Shambach. I've been listening to him. He
kind of sets me on fire a little bit to
(18:41):
preach I love. I just started listening to ryin Ard
Bonki really enjoy. Those men of faith really stir me up.
All I'm saying is for those of you that have
walked away from faith and your listening, the Lord is
inviting you to come home.
Speaker 2 (19:00):
Absolutely, and so are we.
Speaker 1 (19:02):
Yeah, we're out judging voice inviting you to come back
to faith. Doesn't matter what you've done and what you've
been through. Just say, Jesus, I'm coming home like the
prodigal son. Not been away, but I'm coming home. Forgiving
me my sins. Come into my heart and be my savior. Lord,
(19:23):
I come back to you, I come back to faith. Yes,
in Jesus's name, Stephanie, why don't you pray for those
of the minute that are coming back from faith.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
Father, we welcome them with open arms like the Father
did the prodigal son, and we say, here's your robe,
here's your ring, and here's your sandals on your feet,
all paid for but through the finished work of our
Lord and Savior. Jesus Christ, we say you're washed and
you're clean, and God wants to heal you and make
you wholehearted. Father, grant them the grace and the connections
(19:52):
and the time and the desire to hunger and thirst
for righteousness that they may be made wholehearted. I guess
that they're books of destiny would be open in the
heavens right now, and that every good work you have
planned in advance for them to do would be meeted out,
walked out and accomplished, so that their reward when they
see you face to face would be great. In Jesus's name.
Speaker 1 (20:14):
Amen, Lord, I pray that you would take all the
barriers away from people that want to come back to faith.
I pray that every demonic voice that is trying to
speak in their ear through negative thoughts would be bound gag,
silence and blindfold. And thanks Stephanie for the blindfold. And
in the name of Jesus. The Bible says that the
(20:35):
Holy Spirit will draw people back to faith. Holy Spirit,
I pray that you would continue to draw the sinner home,
the broken home, the bound home. Lord, this is a
time to come home, you know. I remember that old song. Lord,
softly and tenderly. Jesus is calling, calling for you and
(20:57):
for me. Come home, Come home, you who are weary,
come home softly and tenderly. Jesus is calling, calling, Oh sinner,
come home. And what I'm seeing right now is I
see the Lord standing in His arms are open wide,
(21:21):
and there's tears flowing down his face, and he says, yeah, yeah,
you right now, you that are hearing this message, Yeah, yeah,
you come home. I'm calling you to come back to
me because I love you, I care for you. I
died for you so you could have eternal life. Lord.
(21:44):
I pray that people would go to you and take
all the weight they're carrying and lay it at your feet,
along with the pain, the discouragement, the disappointment, everything they're carrying.
I pray that they would lay at your feet in
Jesus saying amen.
Speaker 2 (22:05):
Yeah, I'm just hearing that verse. Kiss the sun. Well.
He may be found by you. It's not too late
before he returns for his people. Come. Don't wait.
Speaker 1 (22:16):
And I'm hearing the scripture that today is the day
of salvation. Do not heart in your heart. Come home, weeping,
Come home to the feet of Jesus. He will never
push you away, and you will He will always welcome
you back. Remember the prodigal son the father was waiting,
and when he saw the sun coming, he got undignified
(22:40):
and he ran to meet him. Well, may the Lord
bless you and keep you causes face to give you peace.
Speaker 2 (22:50):
And lift up your countenance.
Speaker 1 (22:52):
And may you hear his voice say, today is the day.
Speaker 3 (22:56):
Come home.
Speaker 1 (22:57):
I'm waiting for you. I'm gonna killed a fat a calf.
It's going to be a party in heaven. Come home
well from Gail and Stephanie.
Speaker 2 (23:07):
Have a beautiful morning and a great day.
