March twenty first. Yes, So how are you doing, Buffy?

letting me talk about what I'm doing in the community
on your platform.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
No, girl, come on now, don't make me start crying up.
You do.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
I mean, anytime I call you, you're here for me.
And so I just got to tell you I so
appreciate you. This has been for years. So you know
you are my brother.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
Yeah, now you're my sister, and you're doing so many
great things and you have a story, and every time
you come on, I want to make sure people understand
why you do what you do right, because you you
were married, yes and still probably still spiritually you know married,
you know what I mean. But there was a tragedy. Yes,
(01:07):
it happened to your husband, yes, right, so you want
to talk about that.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
The Duane Dylan Colon Cancer Foundation was founded twelve years
ago in honor of my late husband Dewan that passed
of colon cancer at thirty nine. And when Dwan basically
got a stomach ache one day that he couldn't shake.
We went to the emergency room. They gave him something
to move his bowels and that was weird because he's
(01:32):
never had that problem. Four days later, four to six
days later, the pain comes back with a vengeance. He
can't shake it. So with that we go back to
the emergency room. They decide they're going to keep them
and shout out to the VA because they did a
great job. Never go by what people tell you. Sometimes
you have to experience it. Because I was telling my husband,
we ain't going down there, you know, but they volunteer
(01:54):
with us now and everything. But at any rate, we
go down. They tell him that they're going to keep
them this time, and they want to look a little
bit more intently. Levels are up and different things are
making them say, okay, this is serious. They end up
opening my husband up. He's already at stage four colon cancer.
It does not run in this family, so it's not genetics. Basically,
(02:16):
it had not been sick. This is a healthy man.
Basketball coach mentor in the community goes to the doctor,
so they give them six months to live, so our
lives go from A to Z just like that. He
survives nine months and we bring him home and we
treat him like the king that he deserved to be
treated as. And I promised them that what we started together,
(02:37):
which was a back to school bass because we owned
a couple of hairsalones and other businesses in Spanish Lakes,
so we had already been giving back together for three
years prior to this. And I tell them, the world's
never going to forget your name, and I'm going to
continue what we started. And that's how.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
We've been doing such an amazing job. I'm doing so
much community. Thank you, you know, with your give back,
your volunteering and everything that you're doing. So let's talk
about the Impact Day for Hope and Healing. It's going
to be March twenty first, and where's it going to
be at.

And so with that, we want to honor those that
have been affected by this deadly disease, or just to
give you education, enlightenment, and just a good day of
service providers. We have guest speakers, we have giveaways, We
have all kinds of things going on that basically will
say if it touched your family in some way, whether
(03:46):
it be counseling, fitness, anything you can think of. We
want to have a we're going to have at this
event that's going to help you be able to deal
with what you're going through better. We'll also be giving
away fit kids and those are take home stool kits
that you can use basically for testing. We're going to
be doing a lot of things there. So men and
(04:07):
women both are affected. This is not a man's disease.
This is not an old person's disease. It's affecting our
younger generations so rapidly that they're saying by the year
twenty thirty, the primary age is affected will be twenty
to thirty year olds. So please come out to our event.
