Speaker 1 (00:00):
From the City that Changes the World peers Rose with
three things you need to.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Know for your Monday Rose, What you offros.

Speaker 1 (00:08):
Just Shoppers spend a record eleven point eight billion dollars
online during Black Friday, which was nine point one percent
more than last year. People also spent six point four
billion online on Thanksgiving Day. The busiest online shopping hours, uh,
pretty much in the morning when everyone's waiting to eat. Yeah,

(00:30):
but more than half of all purchases were made on
phones instead of computers, which isn't very shocking. Popular items
include video game systems electronics when playing stuff like that.
So the Prince Arg's County Police Department is warning residents
about scams that can ruin their holidays. The police department says,
and scammers are becoming more sophisticated, using texts, pop up messages,
and phone calls to impersonate major companies like PayPal and Venmo.

Speaker 3 (00:52):
I've been getting this a lot lately.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
I've also been getting like, oh, thank you for your
purchase on Apple of like four hundred and fifty dollars.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
I'm like, what did I'm like, that's not that's not me.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
I always check the email when like the email address
when this is coming from somebody, because nine one hundred
percent of the time it is not from Apple. The
global scammers, obviously is to gain financial information so that
they can drain your bank account or make fraudulent charges,
which is not fun.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
During the holidays.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
Please are urging people to be extra cautious report any.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
Suspicious sounding messages that you may get.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
And Norad is gearing up for its seventieth year of
tracking Santa.

Speaker 4 (01:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
I love this so much.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
So they're kicking off the festivities with a revamped website.
It's full of games, music, there's a countdown and Santa's
virtual North Whole Village, which is really cool.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
So kids, you can follow the big guy around.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
On Christmas Eve through the app, through social media platforms
all so you can use your.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
Amazon and Walks of devices and.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
Even on their like a new web based calling option
that adds language support to.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
Two hundred different languages. It's pretty incredible.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
And then volunteers are going to be answering calls about
Santa's location during.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
The day like leading up to before.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
It's just who an automated system overnight obviously because the
elves are working really hard.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
Yeah, and they want you to know where Santa is.
I think it's very awesome. I'm Rose. Those are the
three things you need to know of the day.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
Thank you, Rose.

Speaker 5 (02:18):
You're welcome by an hour from now. War of the Roses.
Trying to catch cheaters. It's never good when you say
your man's being problematic. That's the exact quote from the email.
I will talk to her yes after seven. If you
can't be by the radio, get the podcasts after the show.
You search interns John in the morning show. Wherever you
listen to podcasts, you can grab it right there. Whant
to get to this too, so Vice put this out.

(02:39):
If you are meeting your partner's family over the holiday season,
how to win them over high stakes?

Speaker 6 (02:45):
It is. It's a big It's a big thing.

Speaker 5 (02:47):
Yeah, because you've probably been dating for a while. They've
heard about you, and now it's like Christmas is like
you're on trial.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
Yeah yeah, I mean and.

Speaker 4 (02:52):
They definitely the family already has an idea of who
you are in their heads. You're like, you really don't already.

Speaker 5 (02:57):
And there's nothing worse than if your partner's been delaying it.
I always want to meet the parents sooner rather than later.
It gets to me awkward if for like four months
in and it's gonna seem like I didn't want to meet.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
Them, and that's not the case, I guess.

Speaker 5 (03:08):
So they talk to body experts, language experts, and just
therapists in general first, and they say is to match
their energy.

Speaker 4 (03:15):
Yes, absolutely, especially if you're not very talkative and they
are and then they start to not like you.

Speaker 5 (03:21):
They say a bit of natural mirroring creates comfort for
people as you seem closer and friendlier.

Speaker 6 (03:26):
Absolutely, I don't disagree with that one.

Speaker 5 (03:28):
They say, just make sure you stay true to yourself.
You take it too far, you come across as in
ethnic and suspicious. That is fair if you're like too much, yeah,
like the alien who's trying to fit in with like
the hello fellow youth, that type of vibe, who are you?
I think it makes sense to too. If they are
more of a chill reserve and you're like try and
get the crowdgoing on cruise, probably gonna be a bit
different vibe.

Speaker 4 (03:46):
It's like Sarah Jessica Parker's character in the Family Stone,
like the family like chill, go with the flow, them
runs this household, and she was like so up tight
and they're.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
Like, yeah, that makes sense.

Speaker 5 (03:55):
Don't like you listen carefully? Yes, that makes sense, say act.
Listening is one of the most important parts communicating. Yes,
a small head tilt in eye contact with a speaker
shows you're interested more than NonStop nodding.

Speaker 4 (04:07):
And it also helps you learn more and then you
can ask more questions.

Speaker 5 (04:11):
And probably to they're probably excited to meet you anyway. Yeah, yeah,
I mean, so if you're acting like you're paying attention,
they're gonna like you even more.

Speaker 4 (04:16):
But if they don't, but they don't like you like
you know, we all know that person that just dates people.
That's like, why are you still acting like a child
in dating, like making these bad decisions. So it's like, oh,
Gregg's bringing home and all the girl again?

Speaker 5 (04:27):
Yeah, Greg with two geez pause before replying okay, they say,
in social situations, we tend to jump. In the film
Moments of Silence one Shelby Sauce, yep, especially when we're anxious.
But taking time to think corresponding makes a better impression,
they say. Waiting for a half second after a person
finished talking for you speak makes us seem more believable

(04:48):
and calm.

Speaker 4 (04:48):
According Yeah, I think that's fair because then it's not
not practiced.

Speaker 5 (04:52):
I do you think like awkward silence if y'all know
somebody is the absolute worst?

Speaker 6 (04:55):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (04:57):
Else you can do? You guys think it's Christmas is
spelt this way like that?

Speaker 6 (05:02):
Yeah, favorite kind of holidays?

Speaker 3 (05:04):
Course?

Speaker 5 (05:05):
What do you think Santa's favorite holiday is? If it's
not Christmas? Too fair? Uh, don't perform? Okay, okay, when
we're okay again, you do this Shelby sauce. We're anxious
about being awkward. We may over smile or make NonStop jokes.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
That's funny coming from you because you do the same
exact thing. Do you like the public John smile where
your mouth is like half open You're like.

Speaker 6 (05:25):
Like not your head like, yeah, you do that?

Speaker 2 (05:28):
Man is really happy to be there.

Speaker 6 (05:30):
No, you do that?

Speaker 2 (05:31):
Yeah, I'm just really I'm just really happy.

Speaker 6 (05:32):
That's when I'm like, oh, he hates it here.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
When's the last time that happened?

Speaker 6 (05:36):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (05:37):
No, Like Thanksgiving last year, when I took you to
five parent my family's like friend party, I was like,
he's doing the fake smile all day.

Speaker 6 (05:43):
He's probably so tired.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
I was fine. You kept bringing up and that made
me feel more like awkward.

Speaker 6 (05:49):
Yeah, that's why I didn't go. That's why I didn't
do that this year.

Speaker 5 (05:53):
I'm kidding, that's why I'm trying to I can come
off as instance here. Oh absolutely, I think that's fair.
Maintain good posture. Sure, they say the way Harry stuff around.
Can I thank your confidence and anxiety levels. That's probably
I mean in general.

Speaker 6 (06:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (06:06):
The last one if you want to impress their parents
is use physical contact wisely.

Speaker 4 (06:10):
Oh yeah, especially with the person that you're dating. Oh yeah,
because I once dated a guy and I brought him
home and I felt like he was just like very touched,
you feel, not like in an inappropriate way. But my
family is just not at all. So my parents were like, oh,
like horrified by it.

Speaker 5 (06:25):
If I go to meet a girl's parents, I'll give
her a high five the entirety we're inside that house. Yeah,
ex girlfriend like, try to kiss me from my parents, Like,
that's not not at all, was like, please get away
from me. Yeah, I don't consent.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
I realized that that would probably various red flags for
the parent if she goes in for a kiss and.

Speaker 3 (06:44):
Your leg high five, Like I'd be like, I don't
think he likes you.

Speaker 5 (06:48):
I just feel like it's not a respect thing if
we're just dating, If like the first time meeting, I'd
rather like show respect in your Yeah. I get that,
but uh, they say, should you shake hands, go for
the hug, follow their lead, give them your genuine attention
to initiate physical contact.

Speaker 4 (07:02):
I've been trying to hug people more so I might
be like, I'm a hugger.

Speaker 3 (07:05):
Come here.

Speaker 2 (07:06):
You have been saying that recently, But you're.

Speaker 4 (07:08):
Not, though, Because I got drags so long about how
I'm awkward with hugging that I made it my life
goal to make it even worse for everyone because I'm
going to be a hugger.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
I think my mom's probably the biggest fan of your.

Speaker 6 (07:18):
Mom is the biggest fan of my new hugs.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
I love that.

Speaker 4 (07:22):
Thanks, Peggy, you changed me for life.

Speaker 5 (07:24):
Absolutely you want to add some over text nine ninety
three three eights intern Johnny Mars Show.

Speaker 3 (07:29):

We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today.
