Speaker 1 (00:00):
Our good friend, Pastor Joe Bevloqua at Newchapel in UH
in the Compstock Park area. I appreciate you taking the
time to be here with us, a pastor. There's so
much happening in the world today. I am floored by it.
I have been watching ever since Charlie Kirk we saw
unfortunate assassination. We've seen a really kind of a revival

(00:20):
happening with the youth UH in America. We've seen people
coming back to church, and these youth numbers are probably
the biggest. When I say church, it's the church. Churches
all across. Bible sales are up, more people are listening
to you know, faith podcast, radio, all of that type
of thing, and I'm sure it has something to do

(00:43):
with the way things are shaken in the world, the
way things are, but it is an encouraging sign, especially
on a big weekend like this weekend, and I thought
it'd be a good time to get your take on it.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Welcome in, my friend, So good to be with you,
Justin And yes, I mean you're You're totally right. A
lot of people in America, especially young people, especially those
that are in gen X, they have soul fatigue, and
they have access and technology and entertainment convenience, and yet

(01:14):
they're anxious, isolated, their numb And we've upgraded so many things,
but we haven't done that to the human soul. And
people still need interaction and there's a hunger there to
have a relationship with God. And so we're seeing many
of them be drawn into churchy yes, since Charlie Kirk
and what a man of God. And what we're seeing

(01:34):
is a lot of people see that what they've been
told it's just not real, it's plastic, and they want
the real thing.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
Yeah, I think you're right, especially when you say that,
like you want the real thing. It makes me think
about everything right now in the world that we're in.
You can question anything and everything because you don't know
what's real. And one is and AI is out there
right now that I think think has the ability to
deceive us in ways that we've we've never even imagined.

(02:05):
You don't know what you're watching, and we talked about
earlier this week. But you got an astronaut and a
mission to the moon, and there are people, and I
think rightfully so they go, what the are we really going?
Did we ever really go it's because we've been lied
to about so many things before. You can't blame him.
As you mentioned, it is like a fatigue. We're in
this constant spiritual warfare. I know that may sound wacky

(02:29):
to a lot of people, but at the end of
the day, these these these these deceptions, the delusion that
we're seeing. I think it's it's gonna get worse, not
better in the coming days. And you know what, that's
why we need to find that foundation. And maybe that's
why the young people and so many people are rushing
to find it.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
For sure. You know when all the shutdowns happened, uh
and the governor tried to shut down all the churches.
Maybe before then people would have questioned about spiritual warfare.
But I think even people that don't have a faith
background are now looking at things and trying to say,
is there any fidelity to this? Is anything real? And

(03:09):
it's showing that there's something else at play. And really
it's been the only thing that has it's the scratch,
if you will, throughout the last two thousand years, and
that is the reality that there is a God that
sits on high and especially on Good Friday, we remember that,
I mean our church is doing services tonight at seven
like so many others, and we're remembering the Cross, we're

(03:33):
remembering the sacrifice that Jesus made and ultimately leading on
to Sunday, because Friday is one thing, but Sunday's coming, Amen,
And it's a Sunday we celebrate the resurrection of our God.
And here's the cool thing Christ in you, the hope
of glory. People can experience a real relationship with Jesus,

(03:54):
and so, yeah, there's a lot of fake in this world.
I don't know whether we've ever been to the moon.
I've ever been there myself, but I can tell you
that my life was changed. I was one person before Jesus,
and I'm changed. I'm different. And this is the beginning
of hope and joy and having any resolve in this world.
It's found in a relationship with Jesus Christ, and that matters.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
Yeah, I think you're absolutely right when it comes to
very similarly. You know what you and I think both
went through during the craziness of that year, during twenty
twenty and subsequently some of the years following, and what
we're seeing play out now as we've seen so much
of a shaking to our core that we're rushing looking

(04:38):
for what's real and there's only one real place to
find that truth and that is something. So what is left?
What does the church and I'm not talking about Newchapel,
but what does the churches in churches, the body of Christ?
What do Christians need to do right now? I mean

(04:59):
we're watching as we're seeing all this play out here.
These are first world problems that we're you know, we're
dealing with ai. I mean in Nigeria, Christians are getting
slaughtered as we speak, and this this last week we
had this another horrible story, and it's happening in the
Middle East as well. But also we here encouraging stories
out of Iran where we hear that there's massive church

(05:21):
movement there, there are Christians rising up and are on.
What do we need to do as we deal with
these things together as a family.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
Yeah, well, justin what you're seeing is the dark becoming
a lot darker and you're seeing the light shine a
light brighter. And you're going to see a lot more
of that as we get into these into days. And
so yes, I mean there is incredible persecution in Africa.
I was there last month and I was in a
country where Christianity is flourishing, right next to a country

(05:54):
where there's an intense persecution. And so what do we
need to do. We need to pray for sure the
body of Christ to But I'll also just say this
because there are a lot of conservative people who are
now seeing their grandchildren, their children begin to go to
church find a relationship with God. And I know this
is like this in many churches in the Metro, but

(06:14):
in Newchapel and Grand Rapids we've had several young people
come to church and eventually, maybe even a month later,
their parents and then their grandparents come. I can think
of three families right now that just come to mind.
And so it's not enough for us just to agree
with Jesus. I think a lot of us I believe
in Jesus. He's the way I agree things need to change.

(06:37):
I think that our tribe and our generation and the
generations even before us, we need to get back to church.
And if you've been out of church for a long time,
I want to invite you to a New Chapel or
whatever church you used to belong to. It's not about us,
it's about the Kingdom. But get back to church. Go
to church on Easter Sunday, worship the risen Jesus on

(06:59):
Sunday morning. But here's the big idea. Don't just make
it a weekend. Make it a change because the next
generation is looking for that heritage of faith I think
Western Michigan is known for, and we need to not
just agree that things need to change. We need to
be a part of that change. And the simple way
we can do it is what Charlie Kirk says, and
now you have said every Sunday it's a great day

(07:21):
to go to church. Be a part of the change
that's happening, the light that's shining brighter. Be a part
of everything God is doing in America today.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
Yeah, ay Man, definitely get back in to it. And
what a great weekend to do that if you haven't,
or maybe you're looking for a place to go. Newchapel
Newchapel dot com great great place and you'll be able
to meet Pastor Joe Bevlocka and the family there. Pastor
Joe always appreciated. Again, I think I heard you say

(07:50):
that you also have services tonight for folks that would
like to come in and enjoy.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
Yeah, come in seven o'clock I'm going to be preaching
about Jesus on the Cross, and I think it's gonna
be a great topic. And then on to Sunday, we're
gonna maybe give him a little bit of heaven. We're
gonna talk about a risen Jesus and the power that
he can have in your life, the promise that he
brings to all of us who believe it's It's gonna
be a good weekend at Newchapel.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
Amen. All right, well, thank you. I appreciate that. And yes,
Charlene says, don't just come on Christmas and Easter in
the chat, absolutely, but take a step back. If you haven't,
this is a good time to do it. I guarantee
you'll be welcome with open arms and no judgment.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
That's so true, and I'm looking forward for all the
churches and Grand Rapids to swell this weekend. I'll bless
you justin thanks for all that you do for us.

Speaker 1 (08:42):
You too, Thank you. Pastor Joe Bevilock with New Chapel

Kingdom of Fraud

Kingdom of Fraud

It’s the unlikeliest of criminal partnerships: a devout polygamist from an insular Utah sect joining forces with a shadowy Armenian tycoon from LA. The result - a billion dollar fraud conspiracy. In Kingdom of Fraud, investigative reporter Michele McPhee traces the origins of the extraordinary alliance between Jacob Kingston and Levon Termendzhyan. Together, the two men trigger the largest tax investigation in American history and weave around themselves a web of dirty cops, influential political relationships and transnational money laundering. All this is set against the backdrop of Jacob Kingston’s clan – The Order. A powerful and secretive polygamist organization in Salt Lake City. To whom Jacob is desperate to prove his worth.
