Speaker 1 (00:00):
Talk to Bernadet Smith, who's on the line with this
right now, and I you know, I don't know if
you've heard any of that account, but I would just
say this, it almost sounds like what happened there in Venezuela.
And indeed, some of the things we're watching take place
across the world right now, it almost seems biblical the
things that we're used there in Venezuela. Welcome in this morning,
(00:21):
Appreciate you being here with us.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
Thank you justin, Thank you for having me.
Speaker 3 (00:27):
What an account? What do you make of that?
Speaker 2 (00:31):
You know, there's a lot too. There's a lot to that, justin,
and I am still trained into that, you know, the
whole situation.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
Yeah, it really is fascinating that that piece and we
start to see, as the President has talked about now
with more of uh as, Latin America is sort of
falling in like Cuba UH and then we have Iran's
a whole other story. But what we're seeing happening right
now with some of these dominoes falling, is really fascinating
(01:05):
to watch. And I don't know about you, but I
know people have been praying, particularly for around for years, yes, you.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
Know, and I believe our president are great. President is
really bringing a lot of things to the forefront, a
lot of things that people we didn't know, a lot
of things that we didn't know and bringing them. And
it seems like, well, he's over leaching, or he's this
or that, But I believe the President is bringing an
awareness to us that most citizens were unaware of it.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
Yeah, I think some people may have memory of Iran
from you know, you think back to the seventies and
what that place was like and how things were so
different and the terrorism. Obviously we're aware with the strike
that took place, We're aware of what they've been up
to recently.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Aware of the.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
Biden administration sending billions upon billions of done excuse me,
the Obama administration doing that, sending palat to cash, and
that Biden did some of that too, but palace of
cash was under Obama. President Trump just seems to be
a different president altogether. He's not going to play those games.
In fact, he wants those folks out correct.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
So Also, I think about the infrastructure that we as
Americans brought to Venezuela, right, and I'm not sure if
everyone understood that. To see what's happening now, but understand
that we're trying to protect what America puts here in
the first place, to help the bene Isuela people.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
It really is, it really is something we see a
lot of happen, a lot of movement happening just in
that first you're not even a year in right now.
And I bring these these stories up because we're also
seeing lots happening on the home front as well. Gas
prices are incredible. I mean just I paid two thirty
nine a gallon on Friday, and I couldn't believe it.
(02:54):
I know on the east side of the state, they've
got some of these gas stations that are even lower.
But it's to me, you're watching some of these things
in President has this announcement on the credit card interest
rates earlier this week, and as well, they are trying,
it looks like, trying to make a difference from a
lot of different angles. It's not just what's what's happening
on the on the world front, but also back here
(03:16):
at home as well. And I guess you know, when
we talk about these things, it's important because the next
person you send to Washington as a senator from State
of Michigan. It better be somebody who will support the president.
Some of the radicals on the left, I mean, they're
even worse than some of these folks that we're hearing
about Mum, Donnie and some of the rest that are
(03:38):
winning in places like New York City.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
One percent an awful Minnesota, right, it's happening in Minnesota.
But one thing I want to bring when I go
to Washington, justin book I think it's still important, is
that it's the ABC actually the accountability balance and the Constitution.
When I think when we think of accountability, government must
be accountable to the people, not to special interests. That's
(04:03):
what we need that to happen. And our president is
really such a good example of helping to bring this out.
No one is above the law. Accountability is the foundation
of all of our trusts. And I think about this.
When leaders aren't accountable, families pay the price. As we
have seen this for a while. Accountability to source confidence
(04:24):
in our institution, and we really need that today. We
need people to trust and have confidence in our constitution.
And our president, President Trump, is trying to bring that
accountability back into Washington, and I want to be there
to help him. When I think about b the ABC
be balanced. We need balance between federal power and state's right,
(04:48):
strong leadership, justine, balance of security with liberty. I think
about fiscal balance. That also matters. Washington can't keep spending
what it does not have, and we are so grateful
for Elon Musk going in there and doing what he
did with his team. Balance keeps government from becoming overreaching
(05:09):
and intrusive. I think this is so important that we
keep this in the forefront of our heart and mind
when we go to Washington. See constitutions a big one.
I understand that fifty two percent of our young people
today they don't even know the Constitution. The Constitution is
not outdated, which some people are trying to say. It
(05:30):
is truly our safeguard. Every law should pass one test
justice and this is it. Is it constitutional? I think
it's so important before we pass the law, we need
to say is it constitutional? And we move forward. The
constitution What it does. It protects everyday Americans from government overreach.
(05:53):
I think that's such a safeguard in all pretentions, and
that's something that my campaign is built on three simple principles, accountability, balance,
and the Constitution. Because I truly believe when we have
a strong we will have a strong America if we
keep the Constitution intact. It is so very important, vitally important.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
Part of that spens Runner for Senate here as a
Republican in Michigan and wanting to make sure she takes
those things to Washington.
Speaker 3 (06:27):
Hey, you've got a big event coming up too in.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
That I'd like to talk about that. I'm very, very excited.
We want to invite all of your listeners to a
special event coming up on next Monday, January nineteenth, at
seven pm right here in Grand Rapids. It's a fundraising
exception called Missus Smith goes to Washington, and it's going
(06:51):
to be a very very powerful event. It's Generald Flyin
we had. But one of the reasons is this event
is so important to us because we'll rejoined by Michael Flynn.
General Flynn, you know, he has spent his life serving
our nation at the highest level of national security. He
truly understands what happens when truth is challenged, when leadership
(07:15):
also fails, and when everyday Americans are pushed aside. General
Flynn gets it. He also understands Resilion. He understands faint
and totally understand courage, as we can all see, and
those are the exact quality that we meet in at
Washington right now. And I'm so glad that he's coming
to be a part of this event this evening. It's
(07:37):
so exciting. I'm just very very excited about it. I'm
very excited about it. So I'm I hope that everyone
your listeners can make it. It will be held at
the Nodals Old World Italian Dining and that that fifty
six will zill twenty eighth Street Southeast and we're asking
for twenty dollars per person, and we are asking that
(07:57):
everyone registers because that is a requirement. And also they
can register on my website, which is Bernardette Smith for
US Senate dot com. Again that's Bernadette Smith or US
Senate dot com. And another thing I want our listeners
to know, I love questions. I love questions. If they
(08:20):
have any questions, any concern if they have inputs. I
think it's so important that we listen to the people
that we go into their communities. The people in the community,
they know what they need, they know what they're lacking.
So going into those communities talking to them but not
only talking to them, taking their concerns back to Washington,
(08:41):
which I think many past politicians have felt their there's constituents,
they tell them, but we really need to hear what
they have to say, take it to Washington, and bring
it back to them with some answers, and also being
effective helping that community be more effective in what they
their needs are. I think it's so important. Another thing
(09:03):
is we look at Omar, we look at all those
those three what is it in Minnesota? You know, we
have to stop the evil and the corruption that we
see that they are perpetrating in our states, in the
different states. So I want to go there also to
speak truth to power, speak to be President Trump's ally,
(09:26):
to help him get these wonderful things that he's trying
to get past and trying to help them all everyday
Americans and not only Americas, the world. I want to
be right there with him to help him participate and
to help bring the laws and the constitution back into attack.
I think it's so important that we bring our constitutions
(09:49):
back into forfronts, educating our young people, and not only
young people, educating just the world what our confetutions stands for.
I think it is so important.
Speaker 1 (10:00):

(10:23):
