The Insurrection Act about to be unleashed by the President. Well,
he's shared about this on True Social talking about the
disaster that is Minneapolis right now, and we see I
got a whole stack of stories out of Minnesota, but
you've seen the elected officials there really call for some

(02:29):
of the things that we've been watching play out. In fact,
yesterday a man was arrested the night before he was
caught on camera on video of a livestream stealing a
rifle out of the back of an ICE agent's suv.
I mean, that's this is to find out era folks

(02:52):
you took about this guy want to do.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
Massive jail time?

Speaker 5 (02:56):
Number two?

Speaker 2 (02:57):
Why all these thugs involved that he's protest show President
Trump given the Nobel Peace Prize sort of, Well, it
happened yesterday with a meeting with the opposition leader from Venezuela.
In fact, the story is wild to watch. But I've
actually got some historic president on this will dig into it.

(03:17):
But the reporting last night all.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
Those concerns up.

Speaker 6 (03:19):
Ari.

Speaker 7 (03:20):
I am getting word from White House officials that Machano insisted.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
That she give the Nobel medal to the President and
he did accept.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
It in her own words.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
We've got details coming out about how that went and
why she wanted to do it, and like I said,
that historic president behind it all coming up.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
Tucker's moving quickly.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
They want to investigate the cash in luggage exodus from
US airports. It's a story we've been talking about Somalia
s a pianists are going to start flying any minute
now as they're taking this very seriously. You're talking of
nearly a trillion dollars as far as what I've said,
hundreds of billions dollars going out of the country. That's

(04:06):
your money, that's our money, lots of a taxpayer money,
and who knows how much we're given to of course
some of the terrorist groups and organizations in places like
Somalia that we've we've been hearing about throughout the last
course of the last month or so. Folks, it is,
it is incredible, and the stories continue. We'll continue to

(04:27):
break them right here. Well, thank you for being here
with us through it all, and yes, give you a
chance to join us on a free for.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
All for call Justin now at six one six seven
seven four twenty four to twenty four. That's six one
six seven seven for twenty four to twenty four, West
Michigan Live with Justin Barklay on News Radio Wood thirteen
hundred and one oh six nine FM.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
Email me I love to hear from you Justin at
Justin Barclay dot com and also the iHeartRadio app. Just
click that microphone button. Rant raves sounde f comment, complain
take a number, but we love to hear.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
From you either way.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
Just sit that button from MKV Funeral Homes and we'll
get you on our good friend standing by from the
Midwestern are founder there, Kyle Olsen with these latest stories, Kyle,
I'm surprised they're breaking into ice agents encounters. And not
only that, but these people that are on the ground
are getting their instructions, their directions at least it certainly

(05:25):
appears like it from folks in the government. They're in
the state and in the city Mayor Fry and Governor
Tim Walls, who's now had articles of impeachment fought against him,
and on the Walls. Maybe since you've heard the word insurrection,
maybe trying to walk that back a little bit, but
it's it to me. I think it's high pass time

(05:48):
to do this. And you don't want to talk about
like poll numbers going up. This is not the reason
why you do that. But it would be a great
outcome of this. I think when people start to see
that the president just is not that take this kind
of thing lightly. He's the law and order guy that
that they'll love him even more.

Speaker 5 (06:06):
Right well, and I think I think Americans are benevolent
and compassionate and want to make sure that you know,
people are taken care of and everything else. And when
that is abused, and when that's taken advantage of and
we're being ripped off and swindled, that's when people get mad.

(06:28):
And so now what we're seeing is the Trump administration
is saying we're not going to tolerate that anymore. And
the people who are abusing the system, who should be
grateful to be in America that they were accepted into America.
And then you've got these lunatics out in the streets,
blocking cars, you know, forcing confrontations, all of this. I

(06:53):
think people people are tolerating what we're seeing in terms
of the response by ICE.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
Hey, a quick correction, I think I may have said
like a trillion dollars one out of the airport. It
wasn't quite that much. I had a zero off seven
hundred million, is what they're taking a look at right now.

Speaker 3 (07:14):
Both that you.

Speaker 7 (07:17):
Well, when you get into those numbers, it might as
well be because we can't, as average citizens, how do
we wrap our minds around that? Isn't it isn't it
It's just insane, And this is this seems like, this
is not like an.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
Error in the Democrat way of doing things. It's sort
of like a function of it all. This is this
is how they operate, and the American people have had it.
You and I work every day, we slave you. You
really struggle to get your kids in childcare, daycare, et cetera.
And these people are running fake daycres and taking home

(07:54):
all the money from it.

Speaker 3 (07:55):
That's that's just just sort of a drop in the bucket.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
We also have the transportation scheme, They've got that autism
health scheme. There's all sorts of schemes that they're running
right now. The Minnesota Somalian pirates and I don't know
about you, because it's enough to make you want to
just pull your hair out or make them walk the plank,
either one.

Speaker 5 (08:15):
Right, And I think one of the most disturbing aspects
to this, and maybe cynical, I don't know, but people
like Tim Walls, they tolerate the fraud. They know what's
going on. They tolerate the fraud because it builds political
power and gets them votes. And so this is how

(08:39):
they go out and they buy votes. They create these systems.
Then they make sure the agencies and the nonprofits and
all the people benefiting know about how to get into
the programs and get the money, and then what happens
after that, nobody really knows. And and so we're seeing
this take place in Minnesota. But course, you know, when

(09:01):
the Democrats were in charge of the Michigan legislature in
twenty three and twenty four, they spent billions and billions
of dollars, go back to when there was nine billion
dollars and they just had to spend it. It was
like there was nothing, there was no program except roads
that they wouldn't spend that money. Yes, yes, And where

(09:23):
is the audit of the Michigan of Michigan spending And
do we have these similar corruption and fraud problems in
Michigan that we're seeing in Minnesota, in Ohio.

Speaker 2 (09:34):
The Midwestern or the Midwestern are down there is Kyle
Olson with us right now in the latest it's been
a wild week of election integrity updates here in Michigan.
We got the Macomb County Clerk, Anthony for Liney's running
for Secretary of State as a Republican in the state,
who unveiled in his county alone, they were over two
hundred non citizens they caught on these voter rolls, but

(09:59):
also in pulls. And now the most probably concerning part
of all of this. When I say they caught them,
what I mean is these people self reported. As for
Leini mentioned earlier this week on the program, he said,
you know, the way we found out about it, just
like the way we find out about that guy from
China that tried to vote earlier in the twenty twenty

(10:20):
four election. And now it's not that Jocelyn Benson caught him.
He turned himself in China. Otherwise we did never have
known that it happened. Same thing with these people. It's
a mess.

Speaker 5 (10:30):
It's a huge mess, and he's getting So basically the
way it works is they pull. He said that they
pull for jury pools from people who have driver's licenses. Well,
so then obviously that means people who are non citizens
have driver's licenses. And so this again goes back to
Joscelyn Benson is incompetent. She is, either intentionally or through incompetence,

(10:57):
is just destroying the Secretary of State's department. And now
she wants to be promoted to governor. But what Tony
is showing is that there is a massive problem. So
then the next logical question is, Okay, he's Macomb County
is the third largest county in the state. What about
Wayne County? What about Kent County? What about Muskegon County?

(11:19):
What about all of these other counties? Is there some
sort of audit going on? Are these county clerks also
looking to see if they're getting bad information from Joscelyn
Benson and what are they going to do about it?

Speaker 2 (11:33):
Yeah, again, I hate to be cynical here, but I
think it's just realistic at the end of the day,
after everything we've seen, knowing what we know about the
most you know, the most corrupt and unfortunately criminal, the
Secretary of State here in the history of our state,
Joscelyn Benson. I don't know how many times she's been

(11:54):
told by judges, you can't do that, and yet there
she goes again, this is not an error in the system.
This is a function of how they've set it up.
And it's folks like the Midwesterner Kyle Olsen shining a
light on that. So we'll continue to cover that story
and know you will too. Data Center's front and center
as well nationwide. That President Trump just came out with

(12:14):
this big announcement that he's gonna he's gonna make all
these big tech guys create their own energy. In other words,
one of the big issues that dealing with data centers
people are rightly concerned about is, wait a minute, what's
this going to do to our electric bills? They're gonna
go through the roof if these guys start sucking up
all the juice. And we know here in Michigan we
don't have enough to go around because of the past wind,

(12:37):
solar and unicorn fart bonanza that they've been on, the debacle,
the boondoggle. This is where they've been the last several years,
and it's really put us behind the eight ball. Oh yeah,
So anyway, here's here's here's what he said. We're gonna
make them create their own energy. This is a really
tough and I think it's a balance here because on one hand,

(13:00):
the President wants to be competitive on the world front
national security reasons, we want to win that Ai war
against China. But at the same time, there's a lot
of people say, you know, I don't want these things
in our backyard for a number of different reasons. And
I know you guys have been all over this, covering
in fact the latest story Tom Leonard, one of the

(13:21):
candidates for governor, taking a stand on this as well.

Speaker 5 (13:25):
Yeah, and to me, the fundamental issue here is there
is that it seems like the companies in the state
are pushing these into rural areas, that in communities that
don't want them. And then to make matters worse, is
the state has the power to say no, that's going
to go there. That's what's really making people upset. And

(13:47):
then there's the questions about energy rates and is that
going to make my rates go up? The Attorney General
has been fighting about this, and she, the Attorney General,
think about this. The attorney General that cannot even see
the contract between the MPSC, the Public Service Commission and
and these utilities. That's a it's a it's just a

(14:10):
major problem. And then of course you've got the water issues,
especially in townships and in rural areas. So there's a
lot of serious problems that go along with these. So
the Trump administration is trying to say, I think, you know,
how do we make these more palatable. But then, but
the problem in Michigan is that you know, all the elites,

(14:31):
the elite city and Lansing and all these major companies
like Microsoft and Google and everywhere. They're not trying to
put them in industrial areas. They're trying to put them
in rural communities that don't want them. And so we're
continuing to follow this. Uh we we live streamed the
the the township meeting in Saline the other night. Of course,

(14:53):
there's several that are popping up Duwajack, et cetera in
the West Michigan area. So we're going to continue to
all this because it's I mean, it's sort of Goshen
two point zero, where you know, these elites are trying
to push a major company that's going to disrupt the
community into these rural areas that don't want them.

Speaker 2 (15:14):
It is incredible. And I will say this, no matter
where we land on these data centers, above and beyond
everything else, the people in these areas need to have
their own say on what happens right in their backyard.
It cannot be done in a centralized way, taking it
out of their own hands, whether they want them or not.
They need to have the last call on this and

(15:39):
leave it up to them, but also allow them to
be a part of that conversation. But make sure they
get all the information so they can make their best decision.
Part of the reason why we love the folks at
the Midwestern are continuing that push. Kyle Olsen, the founder
of the Midwestern or the midwesternor dot News, thank you
so always appreciate you being here with us. Have a
great weekend and God bless thanks.

Speaker 3 (15:59):
You got it.

Speaker 2 (16:04):
Oh so much more and your phone calls too, still
yet on the way. He's running for Senate Mike Rogers.
Joins is coming up at about nine thirty five this
morning on West Michigan Live.

Speaker 3 (16:14):
It's what rad.

Speaker 4 (16:14):
Now FYI like Literally, It's West Michigan Live with Justin

(17:30):
Barclay on news Radio Wood thirteen hundred and one oh
six nine FM.

Speaker 8 (17:35):
Here are your headlines from The Midwesterner this Friday, January sixteenth.
I'm Robin Hofman. It's a Midwesterner dot news original story.
Local activists score major wins as US data center cancelations
quadruple in twenty twenty five. Ninety nine of roughly seven
hundred and seventy planned US data centers currently face active
local challenges, including the ones right here in Michigan. The

(17:57):
Michigan House starts this new Year with a bipartisan vote
to ban cell phones and schools, and President Trump welcomes
the twenty twenty five Stanley Cup champions, the Florida Panthers,
to the White House. The team winning at second straight
title and brought President Trump accustomed jersey with Trump forty
seven on the back. They also gave him a golden
hockey stick.

Speaker 3 (18:17):
I heard they have a little surprise. Oh that looks nice.

Speaker 4 (18:19):
I hope it's the stick and not just to share it.

Speaker 3 (18:21):
That stick looks beautiful. That looks beautiful. Maybe I get both.
Hell knows, I'm president.

Speaker 1 (18:27):
I'll just take.

Speaker 8 (18:27):
Them for these stories and more. Visit the Midwesterner at
the Midwesterner dot.

Speaker 2 (18:32):
News back after it and a big weekend plan. I
don't know what you've got plan this weekend too, but
you can get more done and feel better about it,
especially if it's been your New Year's resolution to do
some of these things, like one of the things on
our list right now.

Speaker 3 (18:51):
Yeah, it's getting healthy.

Speaker 2 (18:53):
We're doing all of that stuff and all the things
that you put cleaning, like getting things organized in order
around the house. If you're constantly feeling that on your feet,
you're not going to really want to do that. You
got to make sure you're get back in comfort, and
you could do that with a Good Feed Store. So
you can get the job done, no matter whether it's
at work or play. The Good Feed Store wants you
to feel good again, right and feeling you can only

(19:15):
feel when you stop into the Good Feed Store on
twenty eighth Street in front of Costco, or in Portage
on Westage in front of Cols. Stop in and tell
them that I sent you today and they're going to
take such great care of you.

Speaker 3 (19:26):
But do it today. You know I spend any more.

Speaker 2 (19:29):
Time feeling that way, feel comfortable again at the Good
Feed Store.

Speaker 3 (19:36):
There's the picture there. It is.

Speaker 2 (19:39):
I knew there had to be one floating around somewhere.
It's a beautiful, big plaque that was presented by the
opposition leader of Venezuela, there.

Speaker 3 (19:51):
Machado.

Speaker 2 (19:51):
And she met with the President yesterday and and of
course she was honored with the Nobel Peace Prize earlier
this well last year. And there was lots of talk
here in the last couple of days about this, which
I think is kind of funny though, about so well
you can't you can't give it away? Well, she did
and she even gave some historic precedent about during a

(20:13):
time of George Washington, Apparently he gave a medal to
somebody and that somebody gave it to another individual in the.

Speaker 3 (20:23):
In the in the most boulevard.

Speaker 2 (20:25):
I think maybe anyway, it's a fantastic story and I'll
brush up on it and give you the full details
on a little bit later on the show, so you
can understand the historic significance of all of this. But
whether they like it or not, you can say in
a very unique way, and it's one for the history books. Anyway,
the President has been presented, he's been given the Nobel

(20:47):
Peace Prize, which which I think, even in the way
that it's happened, is quite historic in its nature as well.
Welcome into the program now, former Congressman here running for
Senate Mike Rogers in Michigan. Thank you for taking the
time to be here with us today. Coms what an
interesting moment in time and history to see this picture
on the screen and and particularly for the people of Venezuela.

(21:09):
You know, she's interviewed with Fox News and I think
it airs a little bit of it today and then
maybe more this weekend. But Rachelkamposteffi, I think, is the
one who talk with her, and they really, I mean
a fascinating conversation about what it meant for the people
of Venezuela and that the liberation has begun here and

(21:30):
bringing in this this criminal is narco terrorist Maduro into
the country and arrested. We've talked about this before, but
what a unique moment in time.

Speaker 6 (21:42):
It really is quite spectacular. You think about how freedom
is breaking out around the world in places that have
been institutionalized, institutionalized in diplomacy about being bad places, doing
bad things to not only their own people, but you know,
destabilizing the region like Venezuela, like Iran. This has the

(22:05):
potential to fundamentally change the world for a safer place.
And by the way, our security, us security. It is
really quite something to watch, and I think she's right
when the Nobel Committee awarded it to her. I mean, obviously,
when you look at all of the piece deals that
the president has done that he wasn't even considered, it

(22:27):
is a little bit shocking to me. But the fact
that she got it was such an uplift to all
the people who are trying to get out of the
heavy yoke of socialism that has just stolen their livelihoods,
their jobs, their future, and it gave them a little
bit of hope. And so I'm going to believe that
that photo right there is going to lift the spirits

(22:49):
of a whole bunch of people in Venezuela who are thinking, Man,
our time is now, let's get this thing back, Let's
get back to the things.

Speaker 2 (22:57):
We know work absolutely and one of the things that
we you know, we're looking at here, as you just mentioned,
they talked about Cuba. It could fall at any moment
that recently we've seen everything happening in Iran and gosh,
praying for those people. Have you heard any updates, You've
got any updates on what's what's happening on the ground there.

Speaker 6 (23:20):
Any Iran or Cuba? Can I just talk about Cuba
real quick first? So Cuba was absolutely reliant on Venezuelan
oil to survive. I think they used I'm going to
the number may be a little off, but it was
about two hundred thousand barrels a day that would come
from Venezuela to just prop up the Cuban regime that's

(23:41):
going to go away. And what the Cubans would give
is they would give. They gave these special forces trained
of folks who are Maduro's guards. They also gave intelligence,
They also gave medical stuff. That's the That was the
exchange that they got. Well, when this oil gets cut off.
Oh and by the way, those Special Forces guys are gone.

(24:01):
Thank you to the United States Special Operators. They are
literally all of them were taken out in that operation.
And so what you have is the weight now on
Cuba financially is going to be huge. The only way
Russia can't really help them. The only ones that would
think about doing it now are China. They've been trying

(24:23):
to buy old military bases in Cuba. But I think
now people are getting the idea that not in our backyard.
We're just not going to allow you to do that
in our backyard, I hope in Iran. So there was
this when I was chairman of the Intelligence many years back,
the Green I don't if you remember the I think

(24:44):
it was the Orange Revolution in twenty ten, when Barack
Obama just absolutely turned his back on freedom loving people
and supported the one nation that has probably killed more
US citizens than any other country in the Mid East.
A lot of people don't realize that over years, they're
a huge state sponsor of terrorism. They have killed our

(25:07):
soldiers in Iraq, they wounded our soldiers in Iraq. They
took out, you know, two hundred and some Marines back
in the eighties. I mean, this is a bad, bad,
bad group of people in Barack Obama picked them. President
Trump's not going to pick them. He's supporting what's happening
on the ground and what you see just and I

(25:30):
don't think people understand when you start steaming real firepower
into that region the way the President Trump has announced
that gives these freedom fighters on the ground who are
literally getting beaten and shot and thrown in prison. Is
it gives them hope to continue their fight for freedom.

(25:51):
And why that's important to the United States. I know
the debate is that America first. I absolutely think it is.
They are the main destabilizing force in the Middle Least
that supported Hamas going into Israel killing those people. They
support Hesbela, they support the Huthis who are destabilizing that
whole peninsula. And so imagine if you didn't have all

(26:13):
of that happening, what kind of peace negotiation the president
could get done in the Middle East? Really could be remarkable.
And so what's happening on the ground is people are
coming out under martial law, the threat of martial law,
and still protesting this regime. I think something is going
to happen here that's pretty spectacular, meaning they're going to

(26:34):
get their country back. It was overtaken by this Islamic
Republic back in nineteen seventy nine, and boy, that's just
not who the Iranian people are. I'm hopeful that something
is going to change here. And it doesn't even have
to be regime change. If they just have a free election,
that place will change.

Speaker 3 (26:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (26:54):
Former congresson Mi Gradge is with us right now, weighing
in on some of these big subjects. A big conversations happening.
And of course let's get back to Michigan. Gas prices
lowest i've seen them, and I don't know how long
we've seen a little bit of fluctuation because we know
that happens in Michigan. But we just heard this week too,

(27:15):
the mortgage rates are the lowest in years as well.
These are major economic issues for us, you know, speaking
of America first, that hits us right in our pocketbook.
And forget let me mention what we're going to start
seeing as far as that those tax breaks in the
in the next year.

Speaker 6 (27:33):
So I'm really positive about the Michigan economy here justin
You and I have talked about this before. But you
put pressure on prices so that people aren't you know,
losing that battle on inflation, and you start raising wages,
and because of the reshoring that we've seen here, wage
growth in Michigan is trending up. That's fantastic. It means

(27:55):
you're pay hopefully outpaces inflation. That's what the goal is
and people so I wanted it yesterday, and I get
that we're certainly a fast food society. But the four
years of damage that the Biden bidenomics and Biden inflation
have done to the state of Michigan and the rest
of the country is real, and it's deep, and it's

(28:16):
going to take some time to work our way out
of it. Remember when inflation was nine percent nine percent
on everything that you buy, and so it's going to
take some time. But you, as you point out, if
you continue to put pressure on those prices, good things
are going to happen. Gasoline is going down, that's one
of the main drivers inflation on food and other things,

(28:38):
being able to buy a home. Those interest rates had
got to come down. I think the first time I
saw it's under six percent. And you know, since I
think Trump, the first Trump administration, and so those things
are starting to happen. And as you just talked about,
three million Michigan families are going to get a huge
bump here in their pay on overtime, you shove it

(28:58):
in their pocket. We have hundreds of thousands of people
who are tipped workers. And what's interesting I get out
a lot, as you know, justin there is a lot
of tip workers don't even know that they're going to
get this tax break. You know, listen, they're working, they're
doing their thing, they're trying to survive. They didn't follow
any of that. But guess what, they're going to get

(29:18):
a really nice bump in their pay coming up. And
they should. Matter of fact, talk to one guy, a
bartender who's going to get something like twelve five hundred
dollars back, two thousand, five hundred dollars that was taken
by the government out of his tips that went back
to Washington, d C. He was a young guy. He
I think he was like twenty four years old and

(29:39):
he said, you know, I voted for you know, Biden.
I voted a lot of Democrats. He said, I'll tell
you what after this, I've never voted for another Democrat again.
He got a thousand dollars a month raise.

Speaker 3 (29:49):
It's incredible.

Speaker 6 (29:51):
I mean it really is incredible. And I don't think
the power of that hasn't been felt yet. And so
I'm pretty bullish on the economy here. More manufacturing jobs rate,
more reshoring jobs, fantastic, more money in your pocket when
it comes to these tax breaks, the child tax credit
up to twenty four hundred dollars, I think a lot
of people don't realize that's coming to gave them some

(30:13):
help on their burdens. Trying to make its meat at
the end of the month, I think this is going
to be a very very very good and positive thing
for Michigan citizens.

Speaker 2 (30:21):
Mike Roger is running for Senate here in Michigan, former congressman.
Big polls coming out, in fact, a couple new ones
this week alone that showing some really good traction for you,
especially good news against some of those radical extremists. And
they all are on the left and a Democrat side
of things. A lot of chaos over there right now.

(30:43):
And that's good for us because we need common sense,
we need truth and logic restored, and we need to
be able to send somebody that's going to have presidents back.
He was here this week just talking about.

Speaker 6 (30:54):
This, no doubt about it, and think of this. Why
would we want a Minnesota Michigan. I mean, look at
the mess that they have, and you show pictures of
the people who are out there. I don't even know
if they know why they're out there. Honestly, I think
this is a big paid event for them. But they're
talking about the you know, defunding ice and defunding the
police and not giving the police the tools that they

(31:15):
need to win against robbers and rapists and murderers. I mean,
they're just so out of touch with people here, you
know that. I think that's why you're seeing our polling.
This is the fourth poll in a row justin that
has us beating all three of those Democrats in there.
Not not by a lot. It's Michigan, but man, that's
so so important. That's why we become the battleground for

(31:38):
the country. And we need your listeners, your viewers, just
to get on Rogers for Senate dot com. We're going
to need help. We're going to need folks to help
us make sure that people show up to vote and
double down on secure borders, lower inflation, better paying jobs,
and more money in your pocket, and say, first streets man,

(32:01):
that all has to happen, but we need We're going
to need some help getting there. The polls are showing
independents are starting to break our way. They understand that
a secure border means a secure a safe street. They
understand that you can't have politicians encouraging of not only
our military, by the way, to be insubordinate, but also

(32:24):
to go after law enforcement. I've just never seen a
period like.

Speaker 3 (32:27):
This in my certainly in my lifetime.

Speaker 6 (32:29):
Where elected leaders are encouraging people to disrupt law enforcement operations,
targeting drug dealers, rapists, gang bangers, murderers. I've just never
seen anything like it. Why would you pick that team?
I don't get it. And so a lot at stake
in this election, Just in a lot.

Speaker 2 (32:51):
That's an understatement, folks, it is. It's massive. And again
rogersforsenate dot com. You want to learn more from a
Congressman Mike Rodgers joining us at the l just on
this always a pleasure.

(33:37):

Nobel Peace Prize. Trump given the prize in a very
unique way yesterday. We'll talk about that coming out. Don't
go anywhere. It's West Michigan Live. We're back right after
this update from the folks at the Midwest.

Speaker 1 (33:53):

I'm Robin Poffman. It's a Midwesterner dot news. Original story.

Speaker 7 (34:14):
Is your family fed up with higher electric bills?

Speaker 3 (34:17):
Mine is?

Speaker 8 (34:18):
That's former Michigan House Speaker Tom Leonard, who's taking on
data centers. In a brand new campaign ad. The Republican
candidate promises to end taxpayer handouts to big tech, but
Lansing politicians are giving big tech data centers your tax
dollars projects so energy hungry.

Speaker 5 (34:34):
Just one consumes more electricity than all of Detroit.

Speaker 8 (34:38):
Meanwhile, local activists score major wins as US data center
cancelations quadruple in twenty twenty five. Ninety nine of roughly
seven hundred and seventy planned US data centers currently face
active local challenges.

Speaker 3 (34:52):
Including the ones right here in Michigan.

Speaker 8 (34:55):

Speaker 5 (34:59):

Speaker 2 (35:02):

are on radio is moving right along one back program
coming up next. We've got an after show we're gonna

(35:24):
live or archive. You can listen at the iHeartRadio app
to search justin Barkley. You're got a mixed batch this morning.
S and P taking higher Wall Street tries to end
a week on a strong note. There got some green
there down down just a little bit. But look it's
it's it's kind of back and forth. It's been that way,
a little bit of a rollercoaster ride. Guarding your nest
egg dot com. The folks at Talent Wealth, Mike Lestering

(35:46):
the team with the plan for you, a holistic approach
that that really takes in what what not a one
size fits all, but a very unique look at what
you want to do whenever you want to retire, so
you can get there with whether it's today, tomorrow, ten
twenty years down the road. Mike the team want to
make sure you get where you want to go and
when you want to get there. But you're going to
need to go now first regarding your nest egg dot

(36:06):
com or call him at six one six sixty sixty
one one thousand. That's six one sixty sixty six one
one thousand, all right, it is.

Speaker 3 (36:14):
It is historic.

Speaker 2 (36:17):
They said it couldn't happen. In fact, it just happened yesterday.
Very unprecedented, isn't in nature, As we've heard that, we'red
over and over and over again. So she was given
the Nobel Peace Prize earlier. What last year, Maria Coriina Machado.
She's the opposition leader in Venezuela and she gave it yesterday.

(36:39):
It's a president job in the Oval office when she
met with him. So no matter how you slice it,
and none of this is going to make the heads
of some folks on the left just absolutely exploded in
the media as well. But the president has been given
the Nobel Peace Prize. Now this has happened before. Nobel

(37:02):
medals have been sold in the past and or even
dissolved during World War Two to evade Nazi confiscation. But
Ernest Hemingway gifted his to a Cuban shrine at one point.
But such transfers are rare, as we've done the research

(37:24):
on this and digging up typically not politically charged in
this matter, but we did see, as she pointed out.
In fact, there's an interview with Machado where she points
this out. I think it was Duffy who did the
interview with her on Fox and Friends. I want to say,

(37:48):
they did this yesterday and what's wild to watch? And
I thought this was really really fascinating.

Speaker 3 (38:02):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (38:02):
She points out that in the past, like during the
days of George Washington, that the medal was given away
at one point in time to Boulevard.

Speaker 3 (38:15):
Now here's some of the interviewing in.

Speaker 2 (38:17):
Spite of Nobel Prize Committee saying that you couldn't transfer
your Nobel Prize to anyone, especially President Trump.

Speaker 6 (38:24):
You did today. Why did you do that?

Speaker 8 (38:28):
Because he deserves it and it was a very emotional moment.
I decided to present.

Speaker 3 (38:39):
The Nobel Peace Prize medal on behalf of the people
of Venezuela, in.

Speaker 6 (38:44):
Spite of Nobel Prize Committee saying that.

Speaker 2 (38:45):
So here's the here's the history on Boulevard. Now he
got a medal that wasn't directly from George Washington, but
it was a medal with his image on it. It
often described as a medallion or medal with his face
as some bollock gift Honory Bolivar's liberation efforts in South America.
Lafayette gave it to him and it's a really interesting story.

(39:07):
I'm gonna put more of this on the stack today
and if you want to dig in and see that story,
that's the story she told when she described to Rachel
Campbells stuff and why she did it, why it's not unprecedented,
herth lot, and.

Speaker 3 (39:20):
The liberation theme behind it all.

Speaker 2 (39:22):
Find it in the stack with lots of other things
that we talk about each and every day on a
daily basis justin Barkley dot com.

Speaker 3 (39:28):
All right, the big program is next.

Speaker 2 (39:30):
We got an after show and then we're not bag
Monday because it's Martin Luther King Day and they've given
us a day off, so we're gonna take it. We'll
be back with you Tuesday, wishing you the best, make
it a great one. In the meantime, I'm justin Barklay
God bless
