Speaker 1 (00:00):
By from high a top Monroe Center in downtown Grand Rapids.
We're talking about what matters most to you in West Michigan.
Joined the Conversation now at six one six seven seven four,
twenty four twenty four. At six one, six seven seven
four twenty four twenty four, it's West Michigan Live with
Justin Barklay on Wood Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
We're all it into a weekend that see some warmer TIMPs.
I mean, we're gonna be up to the seventies, a
little more sunshine later today, a lot more than we
expected yesterday. Steve said, I got a ten I know,
I guess a little bit of a little bit of sunshine.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
Yess.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
That's soak it up. You know, we missed out like
six months.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
So I'm trying to get it all in, all in
at once.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
If I can. Steve said, look at you.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
I know, I know working out in the yard, my work,
and uh, I don't mean heavy labor as he mentioned,
but there's a lot of hard work being done right now.
Speaker 3 (00:57):
In fact, we'll get into it in our Big.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
Things Weather and his Stories of the day. We are
talking about what matters most in West Michigan and beyond.
This is the Big Three. Now say speak.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
Three stories, no matter most.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
You be talking about these around a watercol at dinner table,
no matter where. You are powered by our good friends
at Heartlin Home Mortgage, Dave Galloway on the team, ready
to help you, like to help us, and so many
others who listened to this program.
Speaker 3 (01:23):
We say thousands, I mean bought her home.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
We did a refinance with Dave and a home equity
line of credit.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
Reach out.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
If you've been thinking about this and maybe the the
market is moved to a point where it's worth it.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
If not, they're going to keep you in the in
the loop and let you.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
Know in the right time to make those moves is
number one JHM blending dot com. Well, First Lady Malania
Trump calling on Congress to hold public hearings allowing Jeffrey
Epstein's survivors to testify under oath. Some of the survivors
we've seen said, now, we're not really interested in that,
(02:03):
which means that she may have called their bluff on
some of this well, some of the attacks that are
coming from inside and outside the house.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
We've got that statement. In moments, you'll be able to
hear it.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
But she also blasted lies linking her to the disgraceful
Jeffrey Epstein, as she said, and as extraordinary and unexpected,
rare remarks took place at the White House just yesterday.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
By the way, where did all of this come from?
Speaker 2 (02:35):
That's a really interesting question as we're watching some of
these things play out behind the scenes. There's some thoughts
on that. We'll try and get you a little bit
later on the program as well. Moving right along in
the Big Three, the fragile two weeks cease fire that
paved the way for the talks and are in is
holding for now.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
Talks will begin a little bit later. Looks like tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
VP JB Van out on the tarmac headed that way
on his way to Islamabad in Pakistan.
Speaker 4 (03:06):
Thanks for coming.
Speaker 5 (03:08):
Look, we're looking forward to the negotiation. I think it's
going to be positive World War see, as the President
of United States said, if the Iranians are willing to
negotiate a good faith we're certainly willing to extend the
open hand.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
They'll have more on that story as it continues to develop.
The President urging around to stop charging fees to tankers
passing to the Straight of Horn moves they better not be.
He said, If they are, they better stop now. The
President with some stark warnings and words as they continue
that move towards the deal, accusing Taran of a poor
(03:40):
job honoring the fragile ceasefire, adding in a warning they
need to agree to everything. In fact, a lot of them,
a lot of times they are in talks behind the
scenes on the phone, but then they come out and
talk different in public, which is funny because.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
You know that sort of like saving face.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
But at the same time, President Trump like snow bones
are born about it. He warns of a painful blow
without any sort of deal. More on that and oil
prices as we continue to watch the latest movements here,
and it was another speaking of blows, this was a
big one yesterday President Trump in a statement blasting Tucker
(04:24):
Megan Kelly, Candae Owens.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
And uh Alex Jones.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
You know that was that was over over on True
Social By the way, if if you haven't seen the
full statement, we'll make sure that you get it.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
We can link it up for folks as well.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
Another really big moment that has folks scratching their heads
in some ways what's really going behind on behind the scenes.
Speaker 3 (04:49):
Here's what he said some of those former allies, he
called them low.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
Iq nutshups, stupid people, losers for criticizing the Iraans treks.
Speaker 3 (04:57):
But it's more than that, U.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
I think mostly it's probably there's some personal issues there,
but it's also for being a part of what really
looks like now leading to tearing apart in the effort
to tear apart a lot of ways what he built.
Let's talk about that more. Come on in just moments
a free for all Friday. You can join in and
weigh in on any of these topics of conversation. If
(05:24):
you jump on the phone line right now or on
the iHeartRadio app click a microphone button.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
It a letter called Justin now at six one six
seven seven twenty four twenty four. That's six one six
seven seven for twenty four twenty four West Michigan Live
with Justin Barklay on News Radio Wood thirteen hundred and
one oh six nine a f M.
Speaker 2 (05:43):
All right, I got a lot a lot of hoey lifting,
a lot of hard work today today, So I'm gonna
lean on my good friend.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
Kyle Wilson to do some of this for me.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
I saw this yesterday and I just shared I go, well, this,
it'd be an interesting day tomorrow. And here we are, Kyle, welcome,
I appreciate you morning. I want to talk about those
things in the news nashally, but also shift their focus
if we can the Michigan as well, where Gratching Whitmer's
out there giving herself a grade that I certainly wouldn't
(06:11):
agree with for her term in office. She's also weighing
in on data centers, which is a big story that
we ought to make sure we get to as well,
and some of the other big news and headlines happening
throughout the state. All right, so let me start what's
happening with the podcast wars and President Trump. It does
seem to be one of these scenarios where we see
(06:33):
fractioning happening within some of the folks who previously voted
or say very vocal they voted for President Trump. Maybe
they have questions about things that they've seen, or maybe
they're watching some of these podcasts just streamers. And I
gotta tell you, I mean, I'm just as perplexed, not
necessarily as his message. I'm actually I'm surprised it took
(06:55):
this long for this type of message to come out.
I think that shows a lot of restraint, unfortunately, frustration
with with with folks who were still very close at
one point. Marjorie Trader Brown as he calls her now,
and and and the low i Q Tucker Carl these
these are people who were very close to him at
one point, it seems like, but boy, they have really
(07:18):
gone off the deep end, and in a big way.
Speaker 6 (07:23):
Right Well. I saw I saw that APAC congratulated the
person who won Marjorie Taylor Green's old seat earlier this week,
and I just thought to myself, I mean, she she's
got to be screaming into her pillow about the fact
that someone who apparently, I guess was supported by APAX
won her seat. But the I mean, one of the
(07:47):
problems with this business is the podcast business is that
you've got to do things to get attention because the
podcast market is oversaturated. There's too many people, and so
people have to get more and more outrageous in order
to get attention, which means downloads, which means money. And
(08:09):
so whether it's Megan Kelly or whoever it is, they've
got to do things in it. And so some people,
I guess are calculating that it's now it's in fashion
to attack President Trump. What's strange to me is if
you look at the polling, the vast, vast majority of
Republicans support him, and so the media likes to sort
(08:34):
of play up, oh, there's this division, and you've got
you know, these people who have big platforms are attacking him,
and there's this massive divide. But you look at the
polling and President Trump has anywhere from high eighties to
low nineties approval rating in the Republican Party. Republicans overwhelmingly
Trump supporters overwhelmingly supported what he did in Iran. So
(09:00):
a lot of this, I think is is sort of
stoked by you know, whether it's Bulwark or CNN or
you know, these sort of haters, these you know, never Trumpers,
they're they're just trying to stoke this division. I think
what is not being talked about enough is what we're
seeing play out in Michigan, specifically in the Senate, the
(09:22):
Democrat Senate primary race, where and you've got Alyssa Slockin,
who is who was in Ohio last night, She's in Iowa,
she's in Idaho. There is a major fracture in the
Democrat Party over Israel, over Gaza over people like Hassan Piker,
And so they're trying to play up this this apparent
(09:46):
division on the on the right, but it's really playing
out in real time.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
On the left.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
Yeah, that is interesting because a lot of the fireworks
are happening on the right right now, in in in public.
Then Democrat do their knifing behind closed tours. It seems
like you've just done. But it is a real thing.
There's there's division happening there too. But the question, and
i'll and i'll and i'll put this is because this
(10:11):
is the most important thing.
Speaker 3 (10:13):
What about the midterms? How does any of this help
or what the end of the midterms.
Speaker 6 (10:19):
That's a that's a very valid point because the Democrats
have made it very clear if they win the majority,
they're going to impeach and then there will be a
trial in the Senate and you know the whole process.
They have their their campaigning on that, and so you
would think the talker Carlson's and the Marjorie Taylor Green's
(10:41):
and the Candice Owens and all of those people, they
would be focusing their energy on Democrats and what Democrats
stand for, and people like Hassan Piker and and Abdul
al said, and you know, all of these people that
are radically different than what they say, but yet they
(11:01):
want to have this. You know, I don't know if
it's a security war. I don't know what their ultimate
objective is, but they would rather fight on the inside
instead of fighting the left. And I think people should
look at where are people really spending their energy. Is
it to defeat Democrats or is it to defeat our
(11:22):
own side?
Speaker 2 (11:22):
Yeah, hey, speaking of the places we should be spending
our energy, how about Gretchen Whitmer.
Speaker 3 (11:29):
She's on her way out.
Speaker 2 (11:30):
There's a big race obviously for the next governor here
in twenty twenty six in Michigan. It's it's twenty twenty
six is going to be just as big, if not bigger,
as twenty twenty four was for the nation. In the
state of Michigan, you get to choose the governor, you
get to choose the attorney general, the Secretary of State,
the individual that will represent the state as the next
(11:50):
senator from the city. And there's you know, Supreme Court, right,
so many other pieces, But it is it is, it is.
It can be more clear about this. It is critical
that we make sure that we we because this is
going to determine the direction of this day. Dale like,
could we've gone only the last like I said, near
the last decade under the Democrat reign and control the
(12:10):
Wolverine Queen and the rest of them, or do you
think it's time for a change.
Speaker 3 (12:14):
Gratchen Whitmer, she loves the work. She's done.
Speaker 2 (12:17):
Facts story at the Midwesterners this morning. She's given herself
a grade that I would disagree with.
Speaker 6 (12:21):
Kyle, Yeah, she she gave. She made an appearance earlier
this week and she was asked, what grade, what grade
would you give yourself for making Michigan a place to live,
work and play? And she said, I would give myself
an A unbelievable. And I thought to myself, well, first
of all, I mean, I think most relatively humble people
(12:45):
would say, oh, there's you know, there's things that we
could have done. And I give myself a BT plus. Sure,
But she gives herself an A. But but what we
do with the Midwesterner is, you know, we like to
look at the facts and statistics in the reality of
the situation. And Michigan has gone down, whether it's per
(13:06):
capita income, whether it's reading rates, whether it's affordability in Michigan,
and it's all because of her policies, she.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
Says, she gives herself an a for making Michigan a
place where people want to live, but they're leaving in
the droves. I mean, they continue to lose population here
year after year because of all of the things that
she's done and the results that she's delivered. Unfortunately, as
you mentioned, it is a very expensive place to live,
(13:38):
and unfortunately we're not really getting much for it. We're
not getting the roads fixed, we're not getting education, we're
not getting those things that she has any control over.
And unfortunately we're losing a lot of talent. Young people
don't want to stay here. You know that with young
kids that you know, going to be up to a
point where they decide where they go to school, et cetera.
Speaker 6 (14:01):
And it's so bad that even you take Bridge, which
is I think Bridge does some good work. They had
an excellent story about the whole Monday Township situation and
what a boondoggle that has been. But Bridges, you know, generally,
I would argue, is left of center. And they published
(14:22):
a story looking at her corporate welfare schemes and looked
at the jobs that were promised and the money that
was doled out in corporate welfare versus the reality, and
they concluded that it was costing eight hundred thousand dollars
per job. Eight hundred thousand dollars in taxpayer money was
(14:45):
given to create these jobs. And so these corporate welfare
schemes that she's come up with, they're great for ribbon cuttings,
they're great for press releases that a lot of the
Michigan media just regurgitates. But then when you actually follow
up and you look at the results, they're pathetic. And
then she has the goal to go out and say
(15:06):
she's made Michigan a better place to live. And you
mentioned the population. Her own administration admits and they claim
that this is a positive thing. That the only reason
Michigan's population has grown is because of migrant inbound migrants,
(15:27):
international migrants. You knowwise Michigan would be would be shrinking.
Speaker 2 (15:33):
Yeah, you know, you know what's interesting is we watch
these these stories play out and I think people are
saying through it now more than ever. But you just
get straight propaganda, talking points, lies from the left. A
lot of times media will repeat that that's why it's
important to have an alternative source actually digging into these stories,
(15:54):
the Midwestern or the Midwesterner dot news. But the ract
you we don't have a lot of time here, but
just a quick sixty seconds, may Kyle about the data centers.
This is a story I know you've been following, will
continue to follow as it as a big story for
twenty twenty six. But she says Michigan needs the data centers,
and her reasoning is really strange. Again the story at
the Midwesterner News.
Speaker 6 (16:15):
Yeah, she makes this argument. Basically, it's like an active
charity that Michigan needs to is Michigan needs to take
the lead on these because we know best how to
protect consumer rights, right payers rights, property rights, and therefore
we need to do them. Well, I mean, first of all,
you don't think other states are going to do that,
(16:36):
but secondly, it just the audacity of all of this.
So we were scheduled Monday night there's going to be
a hearing. I'm trying to remember the township but south
of Grand Rapids where they're trying to put a massive
data center, we're going to be scheduling or we're going
to be live streaming that because this fight is playing
(16:58):
out across communities and a lot of communities across the state,
and so we're going to continue to cover this because
Gretchen Whitmer is doing the opposite in terms of protecting
rate payers and protecting property rights and local control. She's
doing the opposite of all of that, and we're trying
to educate people about that.
Speaker 2 (17:18):
Kyle, Also, the Midwestern and Midwesterner dot News, make sure
you not just book markt do that for sure, but
then also while you're at it, make sure you sign up,
get the email updates and you can stay up to
date and actually watch as they livestream those events. Kyle,
always a pleasure. Thank you so much for being here
with us today and always thank you. You got it
more coming up after this right here on West Michigan
(17:41):
Live free for all.
Speaker 3 (17:42):
Friday, Doctor Kirk Elliott.
Speaker 1 (18:57):
Informative in GIJI. It's West Mission Live with Justin Barklay
on News Radio Wood thirteen hundred and one oh six
nine a FM.
Speaker 7 (19:05):
Here are your headlines from the Midwesterner this Friday, April tenth.
I'm Robin Poffman. It's a Midwesterner dot News original story.
Governor Whitmer says she wants data centers in Michigan, so
they're not built somewhere else in a way that's less
smart her words there. Whitmer making her remark at the
Michigan Chronicles Pancakes and Politics Forum, Michigan Senate candidate Democrat
(19:28):
Abdul l said question about the Hesbalan inspired terrorist attack
on Temple Israel last month, l Sayid saying, I think
it's just critical for us to understand that hurt people
do hurt people, and the circumstances happening six thousand miles
away affect the lives that we live here. L Sayid
on tour with anti Semit extreamer Hassan Piker and to
(19:50):
the Moon and back. The Four Astronauts scheduled to splash
down around eight pm Eastern off the coast of southern
California tonight. For these stories and more, visit the Midwestern
at the Midwestern or Dot New.
Speaker 3 (20:03):
Economy.
Speaker 8 (20:03):
This is my number three point three percent. Again, that
was the expectation core month over month two tenths of
a percent. We were looking for three tenths of a percent.
So actually the core month over month coming in just
a little bit better than expected. And then core you're over.
You're also a little bit better than expected two point
(20:24):
six percent. We were looking for a gain of two
point seven percent headline number.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
That's something that they're probably not gonna share with you.
A little bit of better expected numbers on the inflation.
Of course, you probably won't hear that anywhere else.
Speaker 3 (20:39):
Stick with us.
Speaker 2 (20:40):
We got more news coming up bottom the hour here
that you won't get anywhere else, straight out of our
newsroom at Wood Radio in Eternity.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
Stand by, folks back after it. You could join the
program at any time.
Speaker 2 (20:55):
It's six one, six, seven seven four, twenty four, twenty four.
Speaker 3 (21:01):
Millenia.
Speaker 2 (21:03):
First letting Malaria Trump with the with the announcement yesterday
that kind of came out of the blue about the
Epstein and and and asking Congress to hold hearing so
that these women can have a voice.
Speaker 9 (21:19):
Now is the time for Congress to act. Epstein was
not alone. Several prominent Mile executives resigned from their powerful
positions after this matter became widely politicized. Of course, this
doesn't amount to guild, but we still must work openly
(21:42):
and transparently to uncover the truth. I call on Congress
to provide the women who have been victimized by Epstein,
with the public hearing specifically centered around the survivors. Give
this victims their opportunity to testify under oath in front
(22:05):
of Congress with the power of sworn testimony. Each and
every woman should have her day to tell her story
in public if she wishes, and then her testimony should
be permanently entered into the Congressional record. Then and only
(22:28):
then we will have the truth.
Speaker 4 (22:31):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (22:34):
Interesting moment there. The question is what exactly happened? Why,
why now? And what was the what was the because
you know what I'm told is and this is no
we only know what you know. Some of these reporters
will tell us. But uh, they didn't expect her to
(22:57):
come out and talk about this. I did see that
she was going to speak yesterday, but I didn't know
what it was on either. Jackie Heinrich over on Fox
says she's a senior White House correspondent.
Speaker 3 (23:11):
They didn't get a heads up on this. They didn't
get a heads up on it.
Speaker 10 (23:15):
They had no idea that this came out of left
field for us here at covering the White House. The
press shop did not give us any insight into what
this announcement would be about. That's typical oftentimes the First
Lady doesn't share a lot of details with the White
House communications shop that covers the President on what her
announcements might be. We didn't, for instance, get a lot
(23:36):
of details ahead of her prior announcement on her efforts
bringing home Ukrainian children. But similarly, we had no heads
up on this. We're not getting any information from them now,
including whether or not the President was aware she would
be making this statement. It's unclear to us if she
is reacting to something or that's already happened, already already
(23:57):
come out, or getting ahead of a story that might
be about to drop. But we don't really know. And
the content of what she is calling for this congressional
hearing to allow the victims to you know, openly testify
about what they witnessed, is new and it will certainly
breathe new life into this story that has in large
part not been you know, at the top of the
(24:20):
news cycle lately. The attention here has been on other matters.
So this brings the sort of public interest back to
the Epstein store, which.
Speaker 2 (24:30):
The reporters are just as curious about as that kind
of I am too. I mean, nobody was really Well,
there's the occasional Democrat that comes into chatter on comments.
You know, we'll come in and drop something you know,
snarky in about about Epstein or you.
Speaker 3 (24:50):
Know, oh that's cool but worthy upstream file. My favorite, though,
is for the Epstein time. What I let the most well,
it's the most creative anyway. Uh, we're people come in
and they ask these questions.
Speaker 2 (25:10):
Now, I just said this, and I'll and I'll say
it again too, because I think it's important. There's a
lot of question on this. I would like to see transparency.
I would like to see accountability. I would like to
see all of these sick, twisted people that were involved,
whoever it was. I don't care if it's Bill Gates,
(25:31):
I don't care who it is. I want them to
see there there their day in court, their accountability. But
here's what I have to say to you, because there's
a lot of this is causing consternation between folks on
the right.
Speaker 3 (25:46):
There's a lot of question about this.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
I want to remind because people say, which we wait,
don't we see the let's see the arrests.
Speaker 3 (25:54):
We need the arrest and I agree.
Speaker 2 (25:56):
I'd like to see arrests too, But guess what we
need to see more than just a wrest. We need
to see charges. We need to see them go to court,
We need to see them convicted. We need to see
them also at the end of the day, it wind
up in jail, right and all of that has to
(26:17):
happen and play out in a certain way. You can't
just round people up and put them in jail and
say well, we were done. That's that's not that's not
how it works. And further evidence of that is it's
pretty simple. Look what they what they did with Don Lemon.
(26:40):
Now I know it's apples and oranges, but with Don
Lemmit and a situation that wasn't even as serious, it's
still serious what he did, you know. But again, what
what Don Limit did with the church in Minneapolis versus
the Epstein think, big difference.
Speaker 3 (26:58):
But they had him on video on video. Why isn't
Don limited jail right now? You see what I mean?
Speaker 2 (27:10):
So, you know, walking this through and being and at
least I want to say, uh honest about all of this,
realistic probably the best way to say it. If there
was evidence somewhere whoever held it probably destroyed it the
minute Trump won. I doubt that if there was a
(27:33):
a pile of evidence, and I don't know, maybe I'm wrong,
maybe it's still sitting out there somewhere. But that process
has to be It's called due process. That's what has
to play out. And Melania again in the statement, also
calling not only for Congress to have hearings, but saying
(27:54):
that a lot of this has been just absolute ridiculous,
the things that have been said about her and her husband.
In fact, she made that statement yesterday yesterday afternoon, unexpectedly,
about two thirds.
Speaker 9 (28:09):
Trump with the disgraceful Jeffrey Epstein need to end today.
The individuals lying about me are devoid of ethical standards, humility,
and respect. I do not object to their ignorance, but
(28:35):
rather I reject their mian spirited attempts to defame my reputation.
I never be in friends with Epstein. Donald and I
were invited to the same parties as Epstein from time
to time, since overlapping in social circles is common in
(29:00):
New York City and Palm Beach. To be clear, I
never had a relationship with Epstein or his accomplice Maxwell.
My email reply to Maxwell cannot be categorist as anything
(29:20):
more than casual correspondence. My polite reply to her email
doesn't amount to anything more than a tribal note. I
am not Epstein's victim. Epstein did not introduce me to
(29:41):
Donald Trump. I met my husband by chance at the
New York City party in nineteen ninety eight. This initial
accounter with my husband is documented in a detail in
my book Millennia. The first time across paths with Epstein
(30:02):
was in the year two thousand, at an event Donald
and I attended together. At the time, I had never
met Epstein and had no knowledge of his criminal undertakings.
Numerous fake images and statements about Epstein and me have
(30:27):
been calculating on social media for years now. Be cautious
about what you believe. These images and stories are completely false.
Speaker 3 (30:43):
Full statement. We'll make sure we put up on the
stack today. You can go check it out. It's available
all over readily online.
Speaker 2 (30:51):
But it is an interesting and by the way, I've
said this from the beginning, and I'll say it again,
Hopefully people are hearing me, will pay attention. No matter
what happens in the story, no matter what comes out,
nobody will be happy You're just never gonna be happy.
It's never gonna be enough. It will never be enough
(31:11):
because because of the way this thing is played out
in some of the stories that we've heard on on it,
no matter who gets punished and what happens to them,
they're just you'll never believe because the lure of it
has now become bigger than anything else. And it's unfortunate.
But here's the reality. There is evil in the world.
We watch it play out on a daily basis. You
can't explain it all. It is unexplained. It's hard to
(31:36):
wrap your head around these things. It's just impossible. But
I will tell you and no matter how bad those
stories are, no matter what the headlines say, no matter
what you hear, the good news is God is still
on the throne and we have to focus on that
in the fight. I'm not saying forget all this other stuff.
I'm just saying, keep your eyes on the things that
(31:59):
you you can control, because a lot of this other stuff,
at the end of the day, I think it's just
meant to discourage you, distract you, and drain you back
with more. In minutes after this, it's West Michigan Live.
We're putting the raps on things. Maybe grab a call
or two, and then the after show, the show, after
(32:22):
the show, as we were all through the fastest hour
in radio on West Michigan Live.
Speaker 1 (32:27):
Asking the tough questions. It's West Michigan Live with Justin
Barklay on News Radio Wood thirteen hundred and one oh
six nine.
Speaker 7 (32:34):
Alf Am, here are your headlines from the Midwestern Or
this Friday, April tenth. I'm Robin Hoffman. It's a Midwesterner
dot News original story. Governor Whitmer, sitting with a friendly
crowd of Democrats at the Michigan chronicles pancakes and politics
for them, saying she wants data centers here in Michigan,
so they're not built somewhere else. In a way that's
(32:55):
less smart. Governor Whitmer gives herself an a for making
Michigan place people want to live. However, when you do
a reality check, Whitmer's tenures saw economic and educational declines
and very little population growth here since twenty twenty. In fact,
the state ranks forty ninth out of fifty. And what
(33:16):
a trip it's been to the dark side of the Moon.
The four Astronauts scheduled to return to Earth tonight. Splash
Down scheduled around eight o'clock Eastern off the coast of
southern California. For these stories and more, visit The Midwesterner
at the Midwesterner dot news.
Speaker 6 (33:31):
Access to a four.
Speaker 2 (33:37):
Jendie vance taking off for Islamabad as they get ready
for talks in Pakistan with Iran and details coming out
they're going to try to play us.
Speaker 5 (33:47):
Then they're gonna find that the negotiating team is not
that receptive, so we're gonna try to have a positive negotiation.
The presidents gave us some pretty clear guidelines and we're
gonna see so I hope you guys have a safe flight.
We'll certainly take some questions later on, but for now,
let's get on the plane and hit the road.
Speaker 2 (34:02):
Yeah, wheels up and head it out. We'll have our
eyes on that over the weekend and of course splash
down with Artemis two. But if you're looking to make
a difference, because that's what I always ask people to
do this, like, you know, look, there are lots of
things that we can't control, but there are some things
that we can focus on. And in fact, that's what
I answered to focus and pay attention to mostly these days.
(34:24):
Tim Golden with AFP right now joining us with something
that you can use a bus tour they're calling it.
In fact, jump on the bus and be a part
of making a big splash, a big splash, speaking, a
splash down, making a difference here in a state of Michigan.
Twenty twenty six is going to be a biggest year
I think for the state, even maybe even bigger than
(34:45):
twenty twenty four of us for the nation.
Speaker 3 (34:46):
Tim, welcome man. We appreciate you taking the time to
walk us through this.
Speaker 4 (34:51):
Yeah, justin and thank you for all you do being
a champion for conservative values and freedoms across the state.
I appreciate all the work that you do. Yeah, we
twenty six is going to be a very monumental year,
and you've mentioned bigger than twenty four. I think it
has repercussions of that size and magnitude, and people can
make a difference. Every voice matters, every vote counts. We've
(35:13):
seen in the last couple elections cycles where some races
are won by forty four seventy seven votes, three hundred votes.
Every opportunity you have to make a difference in your community,
you should take advantage of in Americans for prosperity. We
provide those opportunities and trainings and help people get involved
and stay involved with the politics and the policy that
(35:33):
so dramatically affect our lives every day. And the thirty
fifth Senate district in Michigan has been without representation, their
taxation without representation for four hundred and some days because
Gretchen Whitmer pushed pause for so long on filling that seat.
But there's a special election on May sixth, and we
(35:54):
would love to have people come out and help us
canvas the neighborhoods for our first candidate, Chasing Tunney on
April twenty fifth. We provide the transportation and food and
what have you. We're going to pick people up at
seven thirty in the morning at four different locations, take
(36:14):
it to the district, knockdoors, and then bring you back home.
In the end it's hit like five o'clock at night.
So if you want to make a difference, we can
mail help you make a difference.
Speaker 3 (36:24):
I love that people are always looking for like what
can I do?
Speaker 6 (36:27):
You know?
Speaker 2 (36:27):
And obviously I tell people all the time, look, I
know what happens in DC and Lansing. You know, sometimes
those are our major focuses. But what happens in your
own backyard and particularly maybe even jump on a bus
and go to somebody else's.
Speaker 3 (36:42):
Backyard here in the state, well, it does matter.
Speaker 2 (36:45):
You can make a difference, you can be a part
of really moving the needle here in Michigan. And Tim,
one of the things I'm sure you're focused on this
the day of people. What we're watching is the state
come back around possibly that chance as the country. We've
got lots of investment flowing back in here, We've got
lots of big things happening in the last year or so.
(37:06):
I don't want to see State of Michigan miss out
on it. And it seems as though that's what's on
the ballot for us in twenty twenty six.
Speaker 4 (37:14):
It absolutely is justin I think if you look at
the business climate in Michigan and every metric that measures
success of a state, we're heading in the wrong direction.
And that's because of the leadership in the past almost
eight years now, and this thirty fifth Senate district is
so important to swing and move us close to a
majority in the Senate. And then obviously at the end
(37:36):
of twenty six, hopefully we'll have this State House, the
State Senate, and the Governor's mentioned back and conservative control
so that we can create a climate where businesses want
to open here, where businesses want to expand here, where
families want to stay, where we improve our educational system.
All of that. There is so much at stake, and
the only way we can make this happen is if
(37:56):
we get conservatives elected. And the only way that happens
we get conservatives to turn out and vote, especially in
these special elections where you typically have a low low turnout,
So there is a tremendous amount of stake, and this
thirty fifth Senate district is a big lynch pin in
all of that.
Speaker 2 (38:12):
We'll put the links up online for folks if you
want to see the how to be a part of
this again for folks, the event learner just posted on
x as well. But Kent County GOP scattered blisters is
what they're calling it. Flipping the Senate taking off its
next Saturday, April twenty fifth.
Speaker 3 (38:30):
You got a little bit of time to plan for this.
Speaker 4 (38:33):
Yeah, it's next April twenty fifth, rather seven thirty in
the morning. We're going from four different locations, and I'm
not going to go over all those. Kent County is one,
there's four other locations. If you want to know how
to get involved in that, you can look at your
links that you posted. But also you can go to
Facebook AFP's American First Prosperities Facebook page in Michigan, or
(38:55):
you can call and talk to land In Chelseky, who's
the coordinator of this. He's our field staff there. His
number is six one six four eight five six three
seven to two again in Landon Cholsky six one six
four eight five six three seven two, and they'll get
you hooked up and let you know how to be
a part of this amazing event we're having there.
Speaker 2 (39:15):
You go, Tim always a pleasure. Thank you for taking
the time. We appreciate you. Keep up the great work.
Speaker 7 (39:20):
Have a good date.
Speaker 3 (39:21):
You two make it a great one. God bless folks.
Speaker 2 (39:22):
We got more in the after show, the show after
the show, never enough time for it. Also, we'll get
to that coming up. You can listen Facebook, Twitter, AX one.
We'll get our locals YouTube, Thearheartradio app wherever you download
your podcast at.
Speaker 3 (39:34):
