Speaker 1 (00:01):
It's been a long week, and the fellas are thirsty.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
Stop, stop, stop.
Speaker 1 (00:04):
Here it goes down. Down into my belly. It's time
to introduce you to the weekend. Big Rich TV and
Fletch present Bar Card Friday. Brought to you by Keg
and Bottle.
Speaker 3 (00:14):
With the best selection of bourbon, whiskey, tequila, private section bottles,
and more.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
My problem is I drink too much, way too much.
I got my doctor a urine specimen. It was an olive. Now,
let's pour some drinks.
Speaker 4 (00:28):
Let's pour some drinks. Indeed, it is, in fact, a
Bar Cart Friday brought to you by Keg and Bottle.
And joining us in studio today for the first time
in a long time. Liz Edwards, San Diego Spirits Festival
of La Jolla.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
Welcome back to the show, Liz. It's so good to
have you in studio.
Speaker 5 (00:48):
Well, thank you so much. You know what? Let's get
the name of the venue right. Museum of Contemporary Art,
San Diego in La Jolla.
Speaker 4 (00:57):
Is what we've been saying all morning long since the
inception of this festival, honestly.
Speaker 5 (01:05):
17th annual San Diego Spirits Festival. 17 years.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
I mean, 17 years young, if you ask me. And
here's to many more.
Speaker 4 (01:14):
But this is coming up on, if you're watching this
on YouTube, this is going to be a local event
in San Diego, the 26th and 27th, that weekend here
in Our Lord's Year 2026. So you can go and
you can participate. You can enjoy. You can get tickets
at SanDiegoSpiritsFestival.com. You can purchase tickets with the promo code Cheers.
(01:37):
That'll save you 10% or Cheers17. If you just come
for the Sunday event, save 15% on those tickets today. Again,
that's SanDiegoSpiritsFestival.com. Look at that. Alongside you, Liz, is a
new friend, Edward.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
Yeah. Hi, Edward.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
Hi, hi.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
Edward, you came in with mezcal today, so immediately you're
our best friend.
Speaker 6 (01:58):
That's fantastic to hear.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:01):
So you have a brand of mezcal called Daddy-O Mezcal,
and it's named after your dad's nightclub?
Speaker 7 (02:09):
Yes.
Speaker 6 (02:10):
So Daddy-O Mezcal is actually named after my dad's nightclubs
called Daddy-O that was in Cancun, Mexico for over 30
plus years.
Speaker 4 (02:17):
Wow.
Speaker 6 (02:18):
You guys can imagine the stories I have, right?
Speaker 1 (02:22):
Was your dad Desi Arnaz? No comment.
Speaker 8 (02:30):
So did you start your love for mezcal in Cancun
at these clubs?
Speaker 1 (02:35):
Yes. How old were you when you first tasted mezcal?
Speaker 6 (02:41):
Speaker 8 (02:41):
While we were in Mexico. Because it's legal there when
you're 18, yeah?
Speaker 5 (02:45):
He was in diapers.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
For sure, that's what they give to infants to calm
them down at night.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
That's right. It's delicious.
Speaker 4 (02:53):
We had an opportunity to have some pores neat, but
if you could, we'd love to taste it on ice.
You said it's best if you let it mellow on
ice a little bit.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
I mean, you said we had some pores earlier?
Speaker 5 (03:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
This bottle's nearly empty.
Speaker 6 (03:07):
Wow.
Speaker 5 (03:07):
Honestly.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
Look at this. We've nearly polished this off. How many
did you bring, Edward?
Speaker 6 (03:14):
I shouldn't tell you.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
That's for the best. Some secrets are best left untold.
It's still morning.
Speaker 5 (03:20):
We've still got some tequila here we can try if
you're still a little thirsty.
Speaker 4 (03:24):
I'll tell you right now, you, Liz, have brought in
a tremendous smattering of different tequilas for us to enjoy.
And now you said there's got to be, what, 50
plus brands who are going to be Out there at
the San Diego Spirits Festival, the weekend of the 26th.
Speaker 5 (03:42):
That's right. So if you love tequila, we have a
lot of tequila.
Speaker 3 (03:45):
Oh, man.
Speaker 7 (03:46):
A lot.
Speaker 5 (03:46):
And I brought a lot here today. And it's not
just the tequilas. It's restaurants. It's entertainment. We've got some whiskey.
We have some vodka. So you're going to really enjoy
yourself over this weekend.
Speaker 1 (03:59):
Man, I am looking forward to this so much. Where
is it at?
Speaker 5 (04:04):
The Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego in La Jolla.
Speaker 4 (04:08):
See, that's what I told you earlier, and you misheard
me when you thought I said it the wrong way.
Speaker 1 (04:13):
You know what? I was mistaken. I feel like that's
in Del Mar, though.
Speaker 5 (04:18):
No, La Jolla. Beautiful La Jolla on the coast.
Speaker 4 (04:22):
It's the Contemporary Museum of La Jolla Arts.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
Oh, got it.
You know what?
Speaker 5 (04:29):
Just say San Diego Spirits Festival.
Speaker 6 (04:31):
Cheers.
Speaker 5 (04:32):
That's where we're.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
Going to be. And that's your promo code. Cheers.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
Cheers.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
San Diego Spirits Festival dot com. Big fan of the
TV show, right?
Speaker 5 (04:39):
She is. Oh, yes.
Speaker 1 (04:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (04:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
Actually, Fletch is our norm. I've realized, yeah. Gosh, that's good.
It's always here. I thought myself as more of a Sam.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
Cheers.
Speaker 7 (04:49):
Salud.
Speaker 5 (04:49):
Salud.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
Salud. Salud.
Speaker 4 (04:51):
So this is the Dadio Mezcal on ice?
Speaker 1 (04:53):
Yes, exactly. Just what the doctor ordered.
Speaker 6 (04:56):
Very smooth and balanced. No additives, no sugars. Just 100% Mezcal.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
Man, that is delicious.
Speaker 4 (05:03):
I'm not a Mezcal drinker often, especially this way, just
pour it over ice.
Speaker 6 (05:09):
But this is delicious. And this is the best way
to drink it, in all honesty. It's the traditional way.
You just drink it over ice. You let it open up.
You can taste the agave. It's fantastic.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
Edward, why do you pour yourself a full glass? He's seasoned, remember?
He started in the nightclubs in Cancun.
Speaker 6 (05:28):
I just really love my scout.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
What am I going to do?
Speaker 4 (05:30):
Yeah, and don't let his youthful looks fool you.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
He is 67 years old. That's right. Edward is.
Speaker 5 (05:37):
It's good to meet him at the festival.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
Yeah, that's right. Can't wait.
Speaker 4 (05:46):
Well, this is really, really good. And you prepared for
us earlier today, but we should do it again. Actually,
I have some left here. You prepared for us a
Paloma using the Dadios Mezcal, which is shockingly simple considering
how delicious it is. Walk us through again the ingredients
to make this drink. You can't screw it up. It's
(06:08):
very simple.
Speaker 6 (06:09):
All you need to do is just add ice, about
an ounce and a half of Daddy-O-Moscow, and about three
ounces of grapefruit juice.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
That's it. Very simple. What's the ratio on that, Kat?
That's a two to one. Oh, okay. She came up
with that quick earlier. When I first heard it, I thought, God,
it sounds like it's six to three. Which would also
be a two to one. Hmm. Interesting.
Speaker 5 (06:30):
Easy cocktails to make.
Speaker 3 (06:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (06:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
Those fractions are divisible.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
Interesting.
Speaker 4 (06:36):
Interesting. Unlike our nation, it's undivisible under God. I knew
that from the pledge.
Speaker 3 (06:41):
Uh-huh.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
Used to recite in class. One nation. That's how we
started mornings here on 101.5.
Speaker 4 (06:45):
Did you say the Pledge of Allegiance?
Speaker 1 (06:48):
Can you imagine? That would be awesome. It would be
very funny.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
All right.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
Who wants to lead us? You're joking. That's a good idea.
I don't hate it.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
I don't hate it if we have to rise and
attend the flag for the Pledge of Allegiance.
Speaker 9 (07:04):
Remove your caps, which we shouldn't have inside in a
room anyways, but here I am wearing them.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
You wear a hat every day.
Speaker 5 (07:10):
We're all wearing hats.
Speaker 1 (07:11):
That's true. I don't at the dinner table. That's the
time you take it off? Literally and figuratively, we're all
wearing hats. That was deep, Liz.
Speaker 5 (07:21):
You know why I wear a hat? Bad hair day.
Speaker 9 (07:24):
It's impossible.
Speaker 1 (07:30):
But you know what?
Speaker 4 (07:31):
There's a super drug in Taiwan that's going to save
all that.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
What's that one? Is it a GLP-3 or something? Or
is it a peptide? It's something.
Speaker 4 (07:40):
I don't know they're they're still in the the the
like lab rat phase of it but they're shaving down
rats and they're dumping this stuff on their heads and
man they're growing beautiful.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
They just started taking hair from the rest of my
body it would do well you can go to turkey
to do that around november.
Speaker 4 (08:04):
Can you imagine if Fletch leaves here and somebody guns
him down thinking that he's dinner?
Speaker 1 (08:08):
Oh, my goodness. It's a little early. They let him
fatten up for a couple months. Yeah, that's a good point.
Speaker 9 (08:14):
I had a friend who had two turkeys that he
was growing from little chicks, right?
Speaker 7 (08:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (08:19):
Fed them, got them huge. They were huge and mean. Fletch,
you can attest. Turkeys are asswipes. Mean, mean, mean, mean.
Speaker 10 (08:26):
We also had two turkeys. We wanted to do a
homegrown Thanksgiving dinner one year.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
They're the worst.
Speaker 9 (08:31):
This is what happened. So he grows his turkey so big,
they butcher the turkey. It won't even fit in the oven.
They had to leave the door open and he took
a sheet metal.
Speaker 1 (08:40):
And made a cover, a tent for it to cook
this turkey. Oh my gosh.
Speaker 5 (08:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (08:45):
We didn't let our turkeys get big enough. We were
so mad at him. We just ended up Yeah. Taking
care of them a little early.
Speaker 1 (08:50):
Thanksgiving in July. Yeah. Yeah. Cannot wait another month. Certainly
not for. Pair that with some Daddy-O. Absolutely. This mezcal
and this Paloma.
Speaker 4 (09:01):
Again, never had a mezcal Paloma until this morning, but
the sparkling grapefruit juice and the mezcal, the Daddy-O's mezcal
is delicious. It's such a balanced drink. It's almost like
what a Paloma was missing. Sometimes they're a little too sweet.
This sort of like, I don't know, it evens it
out a little bit.
Speaker 6 (09:20):
I'm very glad to hear that. I mean, that's what
we're going for, something that's very easy to combine with cocktails.
And also, just a quick side note, I mean, a margarita,
if you throw this Dario Mezcal in a margarita, it
goes very well.
Speaker 4 (09:32):
I was going to say, if you throw mezcal at Margarita,
you're probably going to get arrested.
Speaker 1 (09:38):
She will be upset. No. I would love to taste
that as well. Can you salt the rim of a Paloma?
Speaker 6 (09:47):
Yes, you can.
Speaker 10 (09:48):
Is that street legal? You can salt the rim of
a beer, of a Kool-Aid, of whatever you want. You've
salted a rim of a Kool-Aid? What kind of drinking
problem do you have? That's not shocking at all.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
Can you imagine? showing up to a kid's party and
being like, oh, juice boxes? Cool. Salt the straw a
little bit.
Speaker 9 (10:08):
I can imagine showing up to a quote-unquote barbecue with
a gallon of lemonade, two packets of Kool-Aid, and.
Speaker 1 (10:16):
A fifth of vodka.
Speaker 5 (10:18):
Or tequila.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
You did that, TD? Yeah, and it was a real fancy, fancy,
fancy thing. Did you also show up with a bunch
of Texas Roadhouse rolls?
Speaker 9 (10:25):
I showed up with two dozen Texas Roadhouse rolls and
a ton of butter. And I mean, I was the
biggest redneck hick rolling up to this.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
And literally, they opened the door and it's like, Here
I am. Yeah, but everybody could use a Texas Roadhouse roll.
Speaker 9 (10:41):
He took the Texas Roadhouse rolls and he fed them
to his own chickens.
Speaker 1 (10:47):
What? I'm not kidding.
Speaker 4 (10:49):
Who was this guy? The Great Gatsby? He thought he was.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
Yeah, gosh. Outrageous. Thank you, old sport. Little chicken feed.
That's what I brought.
Speaker 9 (11:00):
And then nobody made the giant jug of Kool-Aid lemonade,
so I was like, Can I take that home?
Speaker 1 (11:07):
I don't know. Is that bad form? It is bad form,
but you know they weren't going to use it. Well,
I will say this.
Speaker 4 (11:12):
You're going to get your hands on a lot of
biscuits and muffins potentially at the San Diego Spirits Festival
in La Jolla September 26th and 27th because 10 different
food vendors are going to be there just slinging their
wares as well alongside 50 different brands of tequilas, whiskeys,
vodkas that you had mentioned, Liz.
Speaker 5 (11:30):
And entertainment. Don't forget the entertainment. The feathers and the
belly dance are And the snake.
Speaker 1 (11:36):
Oh, my God. The snake charmer's going to be there?
Speaker 2 (11:38):
Yep, yep.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
Do we know the snake charmer's name? Kyle?
Speaker 5 (11:43):
Her name's Christina.
Speaker 1 (11:45):
Oh, it's a her. It's a gal. Kyle could be
a gal's name, too.
Speaker 5 (11:48):
And she has pet snakes.
Speaker 1 (11:50):
She does?
Speaker 5 (11:50):
She does. She loves her snakes.
Speaker 1 (11:52):
I thought these were stranger snakes. Just show up like,
bring your snakes, I'll charm them.
Speaker 7 (11:58):
B-Y-O-S.
Speaker 1 (11:58):
I thought that's what it said.
Speaker 5 (12:00):
I've actually been known to belly dance with a snake myself.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
No way. Britney Spears?
Speaker 5 (12:05):
Who are you? Well, you know, it's my Greek heritage,
so I do know how to belly dance.
Speaker 1 (12:10):
You versus TD, let's see it. Belly dance?
Speaker 5 (12:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
I don't know how to belly dance. In, I think
it was my... freshman year of high school, they made
us line dance. I'm going to be honest with you.
That's different than belly dancing.
Speaker 4 (12:22):
Liz is a Greek-Australian who's sipping mezcal, slinging spirits in
La Jolla.
Speaker 1 (12:27):
Are you Austin Powers? Are you the international woman of mystery?
You sound like a Mad Libs. You know what?
Speaker 5 (12:33):
I wear different hats for different days.
Speaker 1 (12:35):
We all do, Liz. Today it's a Louis Vuitton hat.
Speaker 5 (12:38):
And it's the real one, too. I bought this in Paris.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
Oh my God. So, so on the hat.
Speaker 5 (12:47):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (12:47):
I bought a Nintendo shirt in New York.
Speaker 10 (12:49):
You know, since we're unveiling things about ourselves, seventh grade,
I wasn't this fit Greek God.
Speaker 3 (12:57):
I am now.
Speaker 1 (12:59):
I had a bit of a belly on me and
they made me do the truffle shuffle. You know what?
You know, it's the thing that bullies made you do.
It's from the Goonies movie, right? It is from Goonies, right.
How does that go? Well, he was a character named Chunk. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (13:11):
And he got his name because, I mean, it was
a little bit on the nose, but he was a
chunky fella.
Speaker 9 (13:16):
There's never been a time in my life that I
can remember that I wasn't asked to do the truffle shuffle.
Speaker 1 (13:22):
That's a good point. Seventh grade. What is it? It's
you lift your shirt up and you kind of grab
your fat and you go.
Speaker 5 (13:28):
Oh, my gosh.
Speaker 9 (13:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (13:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (13:30):
Unfortunately, it's a little bit of belly dancing. Looking back.
Speaker 5 (13:33):
Yeah, that's belly dancing.
Speaker 1 (13:34):
Basically, we feel bad about it.
Speaker 4 (13:36):
But that was when when TD joined Big Rich TD
and Fletch, we asked him to do the truffle shuffle initiation.
Speaker 8 (13:43):
What's weird about this, though, is that Fletch, the reason
that you always do the truffle shuffle is because you
do it on your own accord.
Speaker 1 (13:49):
You lift your shirt. and do that. I don't ever
grab my fat and shake it around. I've seen you
do it. He's a product of abuse. He really is.
We all deal with bullying differently. You're the bully in
this situation, Kat. I don't even know what the truffle
shuffle is.
Speaker 4 (14:06):
Well, that's because you've never had to do it. You've
only told them out. You've never taken them yourself. Also,
you're the only one who wears leather jackets. Classic bully garb.
And you have cigarettes rolled up in your sleeve.
Speaker 1 (14:18):
Is that what they do? That's what they did in Greece.
Speaker 5 (14:21):
They did?
Speaker 1 (14:22):
Not the country, Liz.
Speaker 3 (14:26):
Not like Athens or Mykonos.
Speaker 4 (14:33):
Okay, so Liz, obviously Dadios Mezcal is going to be
at this wonderful spirits festival, but you also have Noche
Vida tequila in studio with us.
Speaker 1 (14:43):
We were sipping on this earlier. And, man, this is another–
how did you get in.
Speaker 4 (14:48):
Touch with all these different brands, by the way?
Speaker 1 (14:51):
How did they find you? How did this all come together?
Speaker 5 (14:54):
You know what? They actually do find me. They call
me up. They've heard about me. I started this festival
here in San Diego 18 years ago.
Speaker 1 (15:01):
Oh, my gosh.
Speaker 5 (15:02):
From this tiny little thing. And it's just grown and grown.
And beginning it was all, you know, by mouth, who
knew somebody else. Now I can be in a different city,
in a different country, and people will come up to
me and they'll go, oh, my gosh, that's Liz Edwards,
San Diego Spirits Festival. So it's now preceded me. Oh, man.
(15:25):
Quite exciting, and I'm humble as well because of it.
You can see I'm humble.
Speaker 1 (15:31):
I mean, 18 years running, you started this in 2008?
Speaker 7 (15:33):
2009.
Speaker 8 (15:33):
2009, so it really would be word of mouth.
Speaker 1 (15:37):
In the beginning, yeah. Kat, why do you want to
do so much math today?
Speaker 2 (15:41):
2009, and if you added two, zero, zero, and nine,
that's 11. If you added those, that's two, and this
is the second year we've been on this program.
Speaker 1 (15:55):
Wow, okay. For no reason.
Speaker 8 (15:58):
But, I mean, in 2008, you really did have to
be word of mouth, and the internet was kind of
just beginning, wherein social media was just beginning.
Speaker 5 (16:07):
Yeah, and it was. It was all word of mouth.
Speaker 1 (16:10):
Word of mouth. Yeah, that's a good point. That's a
good point. And downtown was different as well back then.
Speaker 5 (16:15):
Downtown was a different scene than what it is today.
Speaker 1 (16:18):
Honestly, it is the scene.
Speaker 4 (16:21):
Oh, speaking of scene, if you ever see the bottle.
Speaker 1 (16:25):
There's a lot of tequila poured here this morning. Blanco Muerte.
It is a gorgeous bottle.
Speaker 4 (16:30):
Okay, if it's made in Canada, and maybe this is
a question for you, Edward, of Dadios Mezcal.
Speaker 1 (16:37):
If it's made in Canada, can you still call it tequila?
Speaker 6 (16:41):
Yes, you can.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
Okay.
Speaker 6 (16:43):
But it needs to be, actually, the tequila itself needs
to be made in Jalisco.
Speaker 7 (16:48):
Oh.
Speaker 5 (16:48):
Yeah, just because the company is Canadian.
Speaker 7 (16:52):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
Would they call it tequila?
Speaker 7 (16:55):
No.
Speaker 1 (16:56):
Good point, huh?
Speaker 7 (16:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (16:57):
That's a good point. God, that was the worst one.
Speaker 4 (17:00):
I liked that one.
Speaker 1 (17:01):
I liked that one too. Thank you. Thank you. First time.
Speaker 4 (17:04):
Technically, this show, even though it's here in the United States,
was Canadian for a time.
Speaker 3 (17:09):
That is true.
Speaker 1 (17:10):
That is true. We did have a Canadian. We had
a Canadian boss. How fun is this? Man, that's cool.
Speaker 5 (17:17):
And you can taste that one at the festival, too.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
This is good.
Speaker 4 (17:20):
The white death, as it's translated.
Speaker 1 (17:23):
To in the United States. That's what's going to happen
to me. Bottoms up. No, that's good. No, that's just good. Yeah.
That's just tasty. You only bring good stuff, Liz. Always.
This is fantastic. What else can we drink?
Speaker 5 (17:39):
There's more tequila. There's some Telson tequila. We tried the
Addictivo earlier, which was amazing.
Speaker 10 (17:46):
It's been a pretty much only tequila show. Is there
other stuff at the festival?
Speaker 5 (17:50):
Yes, there is.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
There's whiskey.
Speaker 5 (17:52):
I do have whiskey here. I've got some old smoky whiskey.
Speaker 1 (17:55):
Holy cow. Peanut butter whiskey.
Speaker 5 (17:58):
Oh, man.
Speaker 1 (17:58):
Peanut butter whiskey.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
There it is.
Speaker 1 (18:00):
We're holding up the camera, yeah. Why would you think
I'm better at this?
Speaker 4 (18:07):
Man, that old smoky, I've never had, I've had screwball,
peanut butter, whiskey, I've never had the old smoky.
Speaker 1 (18:13):
I think we've had like their moonshines, right? Oh yeah, yeah.
Oh yeah, we did it on moonshine day.
Speaker 5 (18:18):
I think they've got about 42 different flavors of moonshines.
Speaker 10 (18:22):
Lord, right out of the bottle. They were going to
use that bottle at the festival, dude. They still can.
Speaker 5 (18:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (18:29):
Yeah, it's antiseptic.
Speaker 4 (18:32):
They used to pour peanut butter whiskey on the Civil
War wounds back in the 1860s.
Speaker 1 (18:36):
Can I get a little shot of that? Absolutely. Do
you have an allergy?
Speaker 5 (18:41):
My son-in-law likes to use that to make an old-fashioned, which.
Speaker 1 (18:45):
Well, your son-in-law's a genius.
Speaker 5 (18:47):
Of course he is.
Speaker 6 (18:48):
Oh, my gosh.
Speaker 5 (18:48):
He married my daughter.
Speaker 1 (18:51):
Oh, Liz, you have a daughter? That's how you get
a son-in-law, dude.
Speaker 5 (18:55):
And grandkids.
Speaker 1 (18:56):
Really? Yeah. You have how many kids?
Speaker 5 (18:58):
I've got five kids and four grandkids.
Speaker 1 (19:00):
How do you have that many grandkids at 29? That
doesn't make any sense.
Speaker 9 (19:04):
I like these little tiny plastic cups because I feel
like I'm in the emergency room taking medicine.
Speaker 5 (19:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
I thought there was going to be a cheers.
Speaker 3 (19:11):
Cheers.
Speaker 1 (19:12):
Salud.
Speaker 3 (19:13):
Salud.
Speaker 8 (19:14):
Cheers, which again is the promo code that you can
use to get 10% off of your tickets to the.
Speaker 7 (19:19):
$ 10 actually.
Speaker 1 (19:19):
This is now my third one.
Speaker 5 (19:21):
Cheers for 10 on Saturday.
Speaker 7 (19:23):
Sorry.
Speaker 5 (19:23):
Cheers 17 for 15 on Sunday.
Speaker 1 (19:27):
$ 15 off. Okay, cool. Screw that up. Don't be sipping
back there, Edward. Just take it down. Man, a little smoky.
Speaker 6 (19:31):
Shoot it on Sunday.
Speaker 1 (19:35):
What's the old saying? If it's yellow, let it mellow.
If it's brown, take it down. That's right. That's right.
Is that not it?
Speaker 4 (19:42):
That looks shocking like an Instagram post we saw earlier
this week.
Speaker 1 (19:46):
Honestly. Do you work at the bank? All right, listen.
We're having way too much fun this morning. This is
a new one. What is that now? Uncle Nearest.
Speaker 4 (19:55):
We can't finish this without trying Uncle Nearest. Golly, is
this whiskey TD?
Speaker 5 (20:01):
And they actually have seven different whiskeys.
Speaker 1 (20:05):
Uncle Nearest does?
Speaker 5 (20:06):
Uncle Nearest does, yeah. And they're going to be at
the festival as well.
Speaker 1 (20:09):
Also, how do you remember all this?
Speaker 5 (20:10):
It's really hard.
Speaker 9 (20:11):
I can't remember the name of the place. Old Smoky
Peanut Butter Whiskey is damn good. It really is good.
Speaker 1 (20:18):
That is delicious. If you're looking for a teabox shooter,
right there. Ooh, I see what you're thinking. Ooh, this
almost smells like an apple.
Speaker 3 (20:27):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
It's really good.
Speaker 5 (20:29):
Is that the 1984? What the hell.
Speaker 6 (20:30):
Are you talking about?
Speaker 1 (20:35):
That's the Master Blend edition.
Speaker 5 (20:37):
It's the Master Blend, yeah.
Speaker 1 (20:38):
Yeah, but if it was the 1984, Kat, how old
would it be? Wait, hold on, hold on, hold on.
It would be... Wait, is this 118?
Speaker 7 (20:44):
42.
Speaker 3 (20:44):
Holy God.
Speaker 1 (20:48):
If it's 1984, isn't it? What did you say?
Speaker 4 (20:51):
It's honestly like being next to a beautiful mind like
John Nash is sitting with me.
Speaker 1 (20:57):
I can see the numbers floating above her head.
Speaker 6 (20:59):
Unreal.
Speaker 1 (21:01):
Tony, did you miss us? I did miss you. That's
why I'm always here.
Speaker 5 (21:06):
You know, a lot of this stuff that we're showing here,
keg and bottle, guys. You can buy it all.
Speaker 1 (21:12):
At keg and bottle. Thank you. Tony Collins is a
busy man.
Speaker 4 (21:16):
On YouTube, it's a lot easier to promote this, but
he's been in Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan, opening a keg
and bottle. So if you need any of your liquor, beer,
wine needs, hit up a keg and bottle in Michigan.
Two locations in Illinois, one in Santa Barbara, 10 in
San Diego.
Speaker 1 (21:33):
It's a growing empire. It's spreading everywhere. Where's the next one, Tony?
Speaker 6 (21:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (21:37):
I think maybe Florida.
Speaker 5 (21:38):
Florida?
Speaker 1 (21:39):
You know what, Tony? Let me pitch you this. Merced, California.
Do you have someone to go run that for me? Yeah,
I'll move. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You'll move? You don't have
friends there that are probably looking for jobs?
Speaker 10 (21:50):
Actually, my buddy Trevor is not super responsible, but he
would run the hell out of that store.
Speaker 1 (21:54):
He only does a lot of drugs. He'll get it
right in. Wow, why do you have to throw Trevor
under the bus?
Speaker 4 (22:00):
My buddy Trevor, he cooks meth, but when he's not
cooking meth... Get you some. He does like to steal
from his employer. But you can buy it back on eBay. Anyways,
you want to hear the funniest part of this story.
So the punctuation to the Trevor story is about a
(22:22):
week ago, Fletcher was saying, I got a buddy named
Trevor that you could take at.
Speaker 1 (22:26):
Oh, yeah, that's right. You were trying to set camp
with your meth head friend? That's Brian. Oh, Brian. Trevor
has a girlfriend.
Speaker 8 (22:34):
What's wrong with Trevor the meth head?
Speaker 1 (22:37):
He's not a meth head.
Speaker 9 (22:40):
Even Trevor's meth head girlfriend has a boyfriend, Kat.
Speaker 1 (22:45):
Well, what's wrong with your friend Brian? Oh, Brian's fine.
He's just bald.
Speaker 5 (22:48):
Oh, okay.
Speaker 1 (22:48):
But you like bald.
Speaker 5 (22:49):
I do like bald.
Speaker 9 (22:50):
Oh, yeah.
Speaker 1 (22:51):
He's a construction management guy. You also like beards that
are across the, like, half the head.
Speaker 10 (22:56):
He is, like, full white, which I don't think you're
super into.
Speaker 1 (23:01):
That is true. That has been documented. Oh, no. I
can pull the notes. Please don't. We're putting together a
dating profile for you.
Speaker 8 (23:11):
I think everybody likes somebody who looks a little bit
different than they do, and I'm Swedish.
Speaker 1 (23:15):
My wife looks like my sister.
Speaker 10 (23:17):
Oh, yeah, that is true.
Speaker 4 (23:21):
They grow up in a town of like 200, so
somehow you're the only two people on the planet that
don't like Beyonce.
Speaker 5 (23:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (23:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (23:27):
Are you sure you're not related? Beyonce sucks. I'm going
to put it right here on YouTube for life. The
show does not agree. The show is dumb. They're stupid.
The rest of us actually quite like Beyonce. Hey, Beyonce,
I hope you watch this. You suck.
Speaker 2 (23:43):
Oh, no.
Speaker 1 (23:43):
So does your husband.
Speaker 9 (23:45):
Your husband was only good at the Black Album, and
then it sucked.
Speaker 4 (23:48):
Tell him to get a haircut. Other good records. I mean, dude,
I do agree. He did look better with short hair,
but that's just.
Speaker 1 (23:56):
An opinion, honestly. Listen, but it's the right opinion. Are
you hearing me, Jays?
Speaker 10 (24:00):
Go get a haircut.
Speaker 1 (24:02):
It's Jay-Z.
Speaker 4 (24:02):
You pronounce them independently. Look, we have a lot of
work to do with TD, as you can see, Liz. Yeah,
it's going poorly.
Speaker 1 (24:10):
I think you.
Speaker 5 (24:10):
Guys have had a bit too much to drink.
Speaker 1 (24:12):
Yeah, they always do. We're fine, Daddy-O.
Speaker 5 (24:14):
Never, never.
Speaker 1 (24:15):
Hey, by the way, are these 250s available to purchase, Edward?
Speaker 6 (24:20):
They will be soon coming to stores soon.
Speaker 9 (24:22):
These are, these are super cool. These are the ones
that you buy when you have a problem.
Speaker 1 (24:32):
I love them. I love them. I love this. I
love the bottle. Yeah, absolutely.
Speaker 4 (24:36):
I wish honestly more because I, I find myself when
I buy a 750 milliliter bottle, I really do feel
like it's a commitment. I don't want it. You know,
with wine, a lot of times wine, it's fine. You know,
four glasses, it's gone. But with a spirit, I like
the fact that you're going to be offering these 250s
because it gives you an opportunity. If you like something, well,
(24:58):
then you can buy the bigger bottle. If you don't,
you can move on. And I'll tell you right now.
If you try Daddy-O-Miscal, you're going to enjoy it. You're
going to want more anyway, so you may as well
just buy the 750. But I like it. I like
it a lot. Throw it in your golf bag. Enjoy
yourself with Paloma on the course. This is the bottle,
if you have a.
Speaker 1 (25:15):
Cool coat, you can put it in. Oh, for a wedding? Yeah!
Why do you have a menu, by the way?
Speaker 10 (25:22):
No, this is, I want to make sure we get
this out there one more time because I know our
friends have to leave. SanDiegoSpiritsFestival.com is where you buy tickets.
We learned that it's $ 10 off, right? If you use
promo code CHEERS. That's correct.
Speaker 5 (25:33):
CHEERS, $ 10 for Saturday. CHEERS, $ 17. $ 15 for Sunday.
Speaker 1 (25:37):
Oh, I like that. September 26th, 27th. What is that one?
Speaker 5 (25:41):
26th, 27th, San Diego Spirits Festival.
Speaker 1 (25:43):
This is a brand new brand. I actually don't have
this at Keg and Bottle. What is that?
Speaker 7 (25:47):
Yet.
Speaker 1 (25:47):
So we're going to have to taste this and figure
out what's going on with it. What is it called?
Speaker 5 (25:51):
Davo Tequila. They are just launching, and they're launching at
the San Diego Spirits Festival.
Speaker 7 (25:58):
What's cool about, so I actually go to a bunch
of festivals just to find brands like this.
Speaker 1 (26:02):
CD, why don't you pop that open, huh? We should
pop it open. Yeah, don't hog it at all, dude.
For the first time ever. Wow, yeah, Liz, you have
the exclusive. I like the cork pop.
Speaker 4 (26:13):
Wait a second. Is this available? It's available in market.
You're just not selling it yet, Tony?
Speaker 1 (26:17):
He will be.
Speaker 3 (26:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (26:19):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (26:19):
Wait, hold on, hold on, hold on.
Speaker 9 (26:21):
We learned that Paloma means dove, right, Edward?
Speaker 6 (26:24):
Yes, that's right.
Speaker 9 (26:25):
Davo has a dove on it and kind of sounds
like dove. Are we sure that Davo doesn't mean dove? No,
Davo was the 80s band. I like the bottle.
Speaker 5 (26:42):
It's really clean.
Speaker 1 (26:44):
It is very, very clean. I thought the same thing.
Speaker 5 (26:47):
You were going to say the same thing.
Speaker 1 (26:49):
I can't get a meaning for Davo in Google Translate.
Made up word. That means cure. Does it? Oh, like
Lady Gaga. But it's not Spanish. What is it? What
is it? Greek?
Speaker 5 (27:01):
No, it's not Greek.
Speaker 3 (27:03):
Uzbek?
Speaker 1 (27:04):
Are you sure? How would you know?
Speaker 5 (27:07):
I speak Greek.
Speaker 1 (27:08):
You know Sabrina Carpenter. It's U-Z-B-E-K. I don't believe you. Uzbekistan, right?
Speaker 5 (27:13):
Yes, of course I speak Greek.
Speaker 1 (27:14):
Uzbekistan.
Speaker 6 (27:15):
I'll tell you right now.
Speaker 4 (27:20):
Greek is one, I mean, I'm telling you, I read
ancient Greek mythologies to my kids at night.
Speaker 1 (27:27):
I was just talking to Ty, my 11-year-old, about this.
We want to go to Greece.
Speaker 5 (27:31):
It's fantastic.
Speaker 1 (27:32):
Oh, man. You got to go? We got to go. Well,
now it's saying it means claim, like you claim it.
Wait a second.
Speaker 5 (27:38):
What?
Speaker 1 (27:38):
Google Translate's changing. How did the definition change in a minute?
Speaker 5 (27:41):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (27:43):
Wait, what?
Speaker 4 (27:44):
Well, check in another minute. Yeah, check in a different language.
Check all the languages. Davo translation. Now it says... Beans.
Speaker 1 (27:53):
Cure. It's back to cure. Okay, good. Lady Gaga. We're
back to Lady Gaga. What does that even mean? She
has a song called... We're going to find out the show.
We're going to ask the owner. Oh. Well, yeah, we'll
ask her.
Speaker 5 (28:03):
She's going to be there.
Speaker 1 (28:04):
It's probably their last name.
Speaker 7 (28:05):
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (28:10):
I picture when Tony comes out with his tequila and
he's like, what does conja mean? But it's provocative and
it gets the people going.
Speaker 7 (28:19):
On another show, I'll give you the whole backstory.
Speaker 1 (28:20):
It's a really cool backstory. I can't wait to hear it.
Of your last name? Is it made up? You have
a made up last name? Are you a superstar? Is
this a stage name? Just tell us now. I'll give
you the really quick version.
Speaker 7 (28:31):
A great, great, great grandfather was abducted by the conja-like Carnival.
Speaker 1 (28:38):
This is not a fun story. No, wait a second.
He had to do like tricks? He had to do tricks.
He was a little kid. He was probably, let's call
it four years old.
Speaker 5 (28:47):
No way. And then.
Speaker 1 (28:50):
You know how those circuses are.
Speaker 7 (28:51):
Someone left a kid behind and probably were gypsies. I
don't want to say, but perhaps. Yeah, yeah, like traveling folk, nomadic.
And then they took the kid. What?
Speaker 1 (29:01):
So then a year comes by and they come back
around after a year.
Speaker 7 (29:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (29:05):
And the family's like, that's my kid. And they're like, no,
that's our kid. No, that's my kid.
Speaker 5 (29:10):
No way.
Speaker 7 (29:10):
So then they got a third party intermediate guy to
come and say, well, if that kid can walk to
his old home.
Speaker 1 (29:18):
Then that'll prove that it's your kid. And he was
only four at the.
Speaker 5 (29:20):
Time, though?
Speaker 1 (29:21):
I'm assuming four or five. Old enough to know where
he used to live, and he walked to his old house.
No way!
Speaker 7 (29:26):
And then they named him Kanja after the thing, and
I'm a descendant of that guy.
Speaker 10 (29:30):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (29:31):
No way.
Speaker 10 (29:31):
Tell me there is a circus coming up in like
a couple of weeks in San Diego.
Speaker 1 (29:35):
You've got to see if you can do stuff. I
think we should rename it. Can you imagine it? of
Ringling Brothers, it's the Conjure Brothers Circus? That'd be cool. Wait,
what was it? Your great-great-grandfather? Is that what you said?
Probably like five or six generations.
Speaker 9 (29:46):
If only he walked to the Musk house, right?
Speaker 1 (29:53):
We wouldn't be here right now, right, Edward?
Speaker 3 (29:56):
It is a long way from Iraq to Ireland. But
he made it, so clearly we'll name him Kanja.
Speaker 1 (30:06):
Oh, my gosh. Golly.
Speaker 8 (30:08):
All right.
Speaker 4 (30:09):
Well, we've done it all. Liz, you're wonderful as always.
Thank you so much for enduring us. And the Davo,
by the way, is very delicious. Can't wait to see
it at the San Diego Spirits Festival. Yeah, which we
learned means purple.
Speaker 5 (30:21):
Well, I hope to see everybody there. Get your tickets, guys. SanDiegoSpiritsFestival.com, 26,
27 of September.
Speaker 1 (30:31):
I'll actually add one more thing. If you are a
company and you'd like to be part of the festival.
Speaker 7 (30:36):
Oh, yeah.
Speaker 5 (30:37):
We still have room.
Speaker 1 (30:38):
We have room for a few more vendors.
Speaker 7 (30:40):
So reach out to her or myself and we'll help
you get there.
Speaker 6 (30:42):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4 (30:43):
Do you have an email address you want to shout out?
Something long and confusing?
Speaker 1 (30:47):
That's really easy.
Speaker 5 (30:49):
It's just Liz at SanDiegoSpiritsFestival.com.
Speaker 10 (30:54):
Nice.
Speaker 1 (30:54):
Done.
Speaker 9 (30:54):
Have you been getting my emails at info at SanDiegoSpiritsFestival.com?
Speaker 1 (30:58):
Actually, yes. Okay, good, good. I've sent a lot of photographs.
Speaker 3 (31:03):
They may be going in spam, which is exactly where
they need to be.
Speaker 4 (31:09):
They're actually photos of spam. That's his high school nickname. Anyways, look, Edward,
it's been lovely. It's tremendous meeting you. Thank you for
the daddy-o mezcal. Get your hands on this at any
keg and bottle location, 10 locations in San Diego. Two
in Illinois, one in Michigan, one in Santa Barbara. More
(31:30):
to come pretty soon here, I would argue. And we'll
ship it right to your door if you're not in
any of those towns. So just place.
Speaker 7 (31:37):
An order online.
Speaker 1 (31:38):
Love it. Man, this has been a lot of fun. Bakersfield,
buckle up. We're coming for you. Napolo, you're next. Get
you some.
Speaker 4 (31:48):
I'll tell you what, when the high-speed rail gets dug
out and brought to Bakersfield, that's when a keg and
bottle will open.
Speaker 9 (31:55):
You're going to want to sip on some daddy-o from
Bakersfield to.
Speaker 1 (32:00):
El Banyo. Los Banyos. Los Banyos. That's fine. Big Rich
TD and Fletch out. Thank you, thank you.
