Speaker 1 (00:00):
One on one five KGB Big Rich TD and Fletch.
And we have a very very very special guest here
on the line. A guess that Kat is going to
be out on stage with out at Sea World Sandago.
I'm talking about Uncle Cracker. Ladies, gentlemen, Uncle Cracker on
the line. How are you Cracker?

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Hey, if I've been saying san Diego wrong, this my
whole entire life, Well, I hear you say san Diego.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
Yeah, I only say it that way because of Anchorman. Yeah, ironically,
I promise you you're saying it right.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
I can't believe I missed that.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
Yeah, it's fine, It's fine.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
You know, like my entire life's been a lie up
until this point.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
Yeah, that's it's true. You'll it's it's like that with
a lot of things. But they'll also find that I
will make a lot of jokes that no.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
One will laugh at. Cracker. When's the last time that
you I got your back? When's the last time you
came here to San Diego, Uncle Cracker.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
It's been a while since I've been to San Diego.
I got to be honest, it's been years, probably, I
don't even know the last time. It's the San Diego
twenty eighteen Night Team.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
Maybe man, oh man, Yeah you've yeah, it's a it's
it's been a minute.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
Then.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
Have you ever performed on a stage like SeaWorld where
I mean you're you're gonna be in the middle of
a bay with with seats around you.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
I mean, I've been in weirder scenarios, I should say,
right right, I did a SeaWorld somewhere else. Now I
don't I forget which state it was. It wasn't too
long ago, though, And you know some some of the
joints where like the comments fill up on the social
media like, yeah, associate yourself, what are you doing play
in SeaWorld? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:34):
One one of those.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Oh no, The only comments I've seen is, uh, you
know a SeaWorld has made a name for themselves online
and on social media with a lot of booty shaken,
So I would expect a lot of booty shaken.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
Yeah, yeah, exactly.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
See, uncle, I want to unlign myself with that.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
Thank you, thank you.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
Listen, listen, he gets it, he gets it. Man, oh man,
you you've been doing this. You've been doing this a minute. Man.
I feel like I've watched you grow up, which is
pretty cool. You know that first album you came out
with and you know you do a you do a
duet with with Toby Gray, which I mean classic classic song.

(02:12):
And you know what I love about this This song
comes out when when it came out, I was probably
twenty something when it came out.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
But I do not listen to the same music as.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
My dad too, right right, exactly exactly, but this this
song comes out, I'm singing along to it, and my
dad is singing along to it, and now my kids
are singing along to it, which is funny. When I said, hey,
Uncle Cracker's gonna be at Sea World, They're like, oh
my gosh, drift Away.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
I'm like, yeah, yeah, I did it. Man, How did
you choose that song?

Speaker 2 (02:41):
Uh? Man? That was when I put out my first record.
There was a lot of rap stuff on it. So
I was doing like the radio gauntlet, the six am
morning shows, you know, where you show up live with
play a few songs acoustic and do the interview. Well,
I had to pick a couple of songs that were
that sounded like follow Me, which was the single we
were promoting at the time, and Tripped Away seems like

(03:03):
a good uh seems like a good I don't know,
seems like something good and something familiar instead of playing
three that nobody's ever heard before, right right, so tripped,
So I got to play that? Did it? Showed up
in New York and uh, and the guy that run
the well, not the guy that runs the place, but
Scott Shannon. I know, you know who, Scott Shannon as legend.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
Slamming jammin Michael Scott Shannon.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
Yeah now he uh so he I get out of
the studio and he calls the record label. You guys,
you guys would be dumb not to have him cut
that for his next single, And of course Scott Shannon
says it. So Scott Shannon says it. So, uh, the whole,
the whole, you know, the record label is just like,
you gotta cut this, you gotta cut.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
This, right, So yeah, man, Scott Scott Shannon. Scott Shannon
is a was the radio hero of mine. He was
the guy that made me want to be in radio.
Oh really, yeah, Scott Scott Shannon. And then I found uh,
Dave Shelley and Chainsaw here in San Diego, and I thought, God,
it doesn't seem like they hardly work. I should do
that job. And then I got into it and I

(04:08):
got into it the wrong time. Cracker, I'm telling you.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
No, No, you're doing fine. You're doing fine. I just
remember growing up in Detroit, we had a guy named
the Electrifying Mojo. Hell yeah, he would come on at nighttime.
Oh he would land the Mothership. That's how he kept
the intro to his every night when he came on
the radio. Ful. Oh yeah. It just made you feel
like you were somewhere special. It was awesome. Cat nowadays,

(04:35):
just I'm sorry I lost you.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
No, no, I would say, Cat, who's going to be introducing
you on stage? She used to be called the Electrifying
Mojo and then she changed your name's.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Mother Ship in San Diego.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
The names along the way. Those songs came up of
your debut album that was titled Double Wide. Did you
ever live in a trailer? Because I did. I grew
up in a trailer.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
I did too. I mean I didn't grow up in
a trailer, but I lived in a trailer for a minute. Okay,
well I'll leave it at that. I didn't grow up one,
but I lived in one for long enough to know
I didn't want to be there. Forever, right right, right,
right right got hot in them things. Man, it was
just just like a tin can. It just got so

(05:27):
hot in there all the time. We didn't have an
air conditioning either. Those factors.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
Typically trailers you're not installed.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
You don't have the money to install the A seed typically,
I mean some people probably do. No, man, you you
did not have not not even the swamp cooler hanging
out of the window.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
Rough No, rough man. Oh man.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
Well we love it, man, We're looking forward to it
in a big way. You're you're an absolute legend, absolute
rock star. You you know, you have songs that are
i mean literally reverberating around the planet for the rest
of time here because they're they're classics that you have
written and recorded, and you're gonna be playing them live
out at Sea World San Diego with Cat.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
Fisher out on stage.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
Golye Man tomorrow. Oh, it's gonna be awesome. It's gonna
be absolutely awesome.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
I excited to get to San Diego. Man. You guys,
you guys, you guys got that weather thing licked out
there there.

Speaker 3 (06:23):
See, that's a that's what we're talking about. Where where
where are you calling? It's from right now? Are you
in Detroit.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
No, I'm calling from Nashville. I bought a spot in
Nashville a few years ago, and I don't know what
I'm doing here at the moment. It's hot, like offensively
hot here.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
I was just there.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
I was there maybe two three weeks ago. I went
out there and hung out for a week and it
was warm. Man, we were we were we were pretty
much wet when we went outside.

Speaker 2 (06:52):
Yeah, that's it. You just walk outside and you just hope.
I got to hurry up and shower again before I leave.
This is a it's ridiculou.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
You're you're out in Nashville. What's the best hot chicken place?

Speaker 2 (07:04):
I mean, I like Princes. If if we're doing hot chicken,
I like Princes some reason. The four hundred degrees is good.
Not the one at the airport, but the original one.

Speaker 3 (07:15):
Mm hmm. Princess Princess is a good.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
Shame.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
Yeah, yeah, that one we heard and Princess. Everybody said
go to Princess. That was the That was like the
spot that everybody said you had to go to. But
we never went and had hot chicken because it was
ninety eight degrees and ninety nine percent humidity. It never
sounded like we should have hot chicken.

Speaker 3 (07:33):
Yeah, it's not the Melow choice.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
No, you're uncomfortable enough. You know, when you eat some
of that hot chicken, it makes you feel like, I mean,
I like spicy things, but not when it feels like
I'm there every time you take a bite, you know
what I mean, sit there scorching, just sweating bullets from
just the heat alone is not It doesn't make you

(07:56):
want to like start getting your nails all messy and weird.

Speaker 1 (07:59):
Right right exactly, Man, we caught it.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
Don't worry.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
We're professionals over here, Gregor Yeah, yeah, come on, come on.
This isn't my my first go around. I learned from
Scott Shannon. Come on, man, thank you again for the.

Speaker 2 (08:17):
Time I played that when I'm Scott though he was
program director ZE New York. Okay, everything they did was
like Bible. So this guy calls the record label and
they're like, Scott's here as we're supposed to. You know,
he's he's jump. You know when he says jump, you
say how high? Right?

Speaker 3 (08:34):
Absolutely absolutely I get it.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
Man Z one hundred still a juggernaut out there, set
up by Scott Shannon, who who just retired a handful
of years ago. It was it was almost heartbreaking to
see him walk out the door. It was, it was,
it was weird.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
Wonder he's gonna do with all that money?

Speaker 1 (08:49):
God, you know, swimming it like Scrooge McDuck, which which
I hope you're doing.

Speaker 2 (08:56):
Man.

Speaker 1 (08:56):
I hope you're doing the same thing. And I hope
people go and buy every ticket there is here SeaWorld
San Diego dot com. That's where you go to get them.
Make sure you do the show tomorrow. Is it at
five o'clock, six o'clock, six o'clock, six o'clock tomorrow Saturday.
