Speaker 1 (00:00):
I mean, I had an imaginary friend when I was
a kid, and his name was Shiloh.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
We used to play checkers with each other every day.
Speaker 1 (00:05):
And bless his heart, Shiloh would always let me win.
Speaker 3 (00:07):
Working six to ten with just a bunch of hot men.
Roll out of bed, gotta get this show started. Foot
massagers on, but it sounds like someone farted.
Speaker 1 (00:18):
Let's pour some coffee and try to come to life.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Woo!
Speaker 3 (00:23):
Rich and T.D. say words that cattle distort.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
Did you feel the tension? I can feel it all
the way down in my plums.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
Fletch is in the zone, and of course he's wearing shorts.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
That plum looks good. Can I trade it for your Twinkie?
Speaker 1 (00:37):
We work so hard, but only from six to ten.
Can you fly this plane and land it? Surely you
can't be serious.
Speaker 3 (00:43):
Working six to ten, that seems more than most try.
If we're tweeting, it'll sure be Battle Sports 5.
Speaker 4 (00:54):
I am serious.
Speaker 3 (00:54):
And don't call me Shirley.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
Yes, sir. Remember that.
Speaker 3 (00:57):
Getting ready to take them to the farmer's market.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
Special two plums for one.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
Happy Wednesday to those who celebrate as big, rich TD
and Fletch.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
And I'll have what she's having morning, San Diego. I'm big, rich.
Speaker 5 (01:23):
I got TD to my right across from him is
cat and the effervescent Fletch on.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
The board glowing over there, glowing behind the board.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
My goodness.
Speaker 5 (01:32):
As always a man who is busy with a side project,
a side piece, if you will.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
Strong words.
Speaker 5 (01:41):
We'll get to that in a little bit because I'm
very curious how much of this he's willing to share with.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
The world just yet.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
Not much. Okay.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
So this is something that is going to be cloaked in.
You know what?
Speaker 2 (01:54):
We're not going to get into it yet, but we're
going to poke and fletch.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
We're going to find out how much he's willing to say.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (02:00):
Also, I've got a major admission to make. We'll do
that in a few minutes here. But before we do
anything else, yesterday, a successful Operation Donut Drop.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
And it was in my hood.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
Where'd you go?
Speaker 1 (02:16):
Went over to.
Speaker 5 (02:17):
So, full transparency, pull back the curtain of the show
a little bit. Every single week, we pick a winner. Now,
this week, we picked our winner for Operation Donut Drop.
They couldn't have us. The next winner down the board
on Operation Donut Drop, they refused to answer their phone.
The next winner down on the board no longer works
(02:40):
at the place that they had.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
Listed, and... No longer works. Now, when you get to.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
Fourth place, it was an unprecedented territory we got to.
Speaker 4 (02:50):
Well, and the clock is ticking on our promotions assistants
and coordinators who are going to go along with us
and so on and so forth.
Speaker 5 (02:59):
They've got schedules. They've got things to do. They've got
people to see. They've got people to answer to. So
I ended up going over to Garnett Laundry and Cleaners.
and uh and and dropped off the donuts there's a
wonderful woman named cc who owns this uh this this
dry cleaning business on garnett avenue and she uh she's
(03:20):
serving uh pacific beach and so it was.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
Like do you take your laundry to the laundry people.
Speaker 4 (03:26):
Are you.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
Hold hold that all right so it's like three minutes
we had it over under three minutes was the number
hold that thought You know what?
Speaker 5 (03:38):
We'll get back to CC and Garnet Laundry and Cleaners.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
Somebody just pulled the e-brake.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
Will. Man. Will.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
We're going to do. I saw it recognize on his eyes.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
We're going to do a quick U-turn. We'll get back
to Operation Donut Drop. That is not important.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
What's going on?
Speaker 5 (03:56):
You'll find out next. I cannot believe that you did
this without... I don't want to say permission, but you
didn't even... A discussion. Yeah, like there was no... So
we've been in the studio, in and out of the
studio for parts of an hour.
Speaker 3 (04:12):
And.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
You, my dear, have intentionally, Kat, I'm sorry.
Speaker 5 (04:18):
For those who are new to this show, Kat is
this wonderful addition who walked into our lives two years ago,
a stray that we left a saucer of milk out for.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
And it brought me in. And then we were like,
I mean, she won't go away. Might as well give
her a job. Yeah, you feed a cat.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
She's going to stick with you for life.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
Yeah, start rubbing her back against our legs.
Speaker 5 (04:37):
And we're like, well. I mean, she's just kind of here,
so we might as well put a microphone in front
of her, and then this cat can talk. Well, anyways,
you're our best friend, and you would assume that before
making a giant life-changing decision, you would consult with.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
One of us.
Speaker 3 (04:57):
I need to consult with you guys about what I
do to my physical appearance.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
No, no, no.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
I feel like saying that before I cut my hair,
I need to ask you guys. Wow.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
Let me pull back.
Speaker 4 (05:09):
I mean, what kind of haircut are you talking about?
Speaker 5 (05:12):
I'm going to yank the bandaid off. Kat got her
septum pierced. For those of you who don't know what
the septum is. it's the middle part between your nostrils
and your nose that hunk of flesh that separates your
nostrils you put you put metal through that and now
you have two little dangly pieces and this entire morning
i've been like trying to gesture.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
I like passed you the tissue box earlier i thought your.
Speaker 3 (05:37):
Nose was running it does make your nose run a
little bit to be honest Now, I told you guys
a while ago I was thinking about getting my nose pierced.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
A while ago was yesterday. And also, the assumption was
it was going to be the stud. Yeah, well, you
said nose pierced.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
Actually, I think it was Monday.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
Like the side piercing you guys think looks cooler?
Speaker 1 (05:57):
Who's you guys? Nothing was ever discussed with me, Kat. So,
you guys don't like it?
Speaker 2 (06:03):
I hate it. I hate it.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
That's awful.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
It looks super good and you're beautiful. No, no.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
All the second part is true. The first part is
what you're lying about.
Speaker 3 (06:15):
You guys don't think this septum piercing looks cool?
Speaker 2 (06:17):
Side nose ring?
Speaker 1 (06:18):
Very, very cool.
Speaker 5 (06:19):
Inner nose ring? If God wanted you to have a uninostral,
he would have given it to you. You're trying to
break down this barrier.
Speaker 3 (06:26):
This is like when somebody gets a tattoo and you
tell them you hate their tattoo.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
They've already done it. I have a crummy tattoo. Look,
it happens.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
People do dumb things to themselves all the time.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
But isn't it a better friend to tell you?
Speaker 3 (06:38):
Not once it's already done.
Speaker 1 (06:41):
Is it connected? Is it a ring or is it
like two things hanging down?
Speaker 3 (06:45):
Okay, let me show you guys how it works.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
No, no, no. Oh, it's a fake.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
It's magnetic. It's just a fake piercing to see if
I like it or not.
Speaker 4 (06:56):
Okay, thank God. Throw that in the trash immediately. Throw
that in the trash immediately.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
What do you mean? That is so awful. You guys
don't think it's cool?
Speaker 3 (07:04):
I'm trying to be more edgy.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
Like a truffle pig?
Speaker 3 (07:07):
I'm trying to be edgier without actually getting a piercing.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
Like a rodeo bull?
Speaker 2 (07:11):
Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
That's what they put in.
Speaker 4 (07:14):
They put that in animals so they don't nose through things.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
I think I could move this to the side as well.
Give it a shot.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
Hang on.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
I'm so glad that's fake. Yeah, this is a huge relief.
Speaker 3 (07:24):
You guys hated it that much?
Speaker 1 (07:26):
Oh, yeah.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
I've never gotten along with anybody with a septum piercing
in my life.
Speaker 3 (07:29):
Well, that would be really fitting for us. We don't
get along.
Speaker 2 (07:32):
Yeah, but it feels like you're days away now from
dying your hair black and wearing a fishnet.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
Goth is in, you guys. Goth is cool now.
Speaker 4 (07:41):
I feel like you'd have to go all in if
you do the septum.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
This side part of my nose might be too thick for.
Speaker 3 (07:47):
The magnet to reach the other magnet.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
I think it only works in the septum.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
Wait, can we put it on CD? No, we can't.
We absolutely cannot. We could sterilize it. You would look
like a good bull. Thanks.
Speaker 4 (08:00):
Thanks. There's millions in the community who are high-fiving.
Speaker 3 (08:04):
Wait, does that work?
Speaker 1 (08:07):
On the side?
Speaker 2 (08:07):
You know what? Somehow that's worse. Congratulations.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
On the side, it looks like I have a weird growth.
Speaker 2 (08:13):
It looks like a horseshoe.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
Pretty nice.
Speaker 3 (08:16):
Cool as the septum.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
Whatever happened to the cool little diamond you put on
the side of the nose? A tiny little stud.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
It looks like a very Avril Lavigne.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
I would try that, but the Amazon pack of non-permanent
nose rings didn't come with one of those studs.
Speaker 5 (08:30):
I'll tell you what, I feel like women, unfortunately, get
lied to by men who want to be with them
too often.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
What does that mean? What I mean by that is like.
Speaker 5 (08:43):
Like, it's good that you're hanging out with three married
men because none of us want anything from you other.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
Than to be your friend. And as your friend, you
need to take.
Speaker 4 (08:51):
That out of your nose. What is making you feel
like you need to be more edgy?
Speaker 3 (08:58):
I don't know. It seems like something that would be
cool to try out. Be a little edgy for once.
Speaker 1 (09:03):
You've been on the edge of your own sanity for years.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (09:08):
That is really rude, Rich, even though it might be
a little true.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
Cut you right to the core.
Speaker 5 (09:15):
Oh, my God. I can't tell. I went from feeling
sick to really, really happy. That was a huge sigh
of relief.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
Come on, you guys.
Speaker 3 (09:23):
If I was going to pierce my nose, yes, I
would talk to you. I would probably FaceTime you while
I was doing it.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
Oh, my God.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
Oh, my God. I wouldn't ask you.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
But I wouldn't FaceTime you during. No, no.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
I feel like before you're allowed to do that, we
have to sign a permission slip or something. We're like
the same age. I know, but I don't. I feel
like you're 10, 12 years younger. I'm just like, come on.
Come on.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
We'll get there soon.
Speaker 4 (09:51):
I really feel like we dodged a bullet here, but
I don't know why.
Speaker 3 (09:55):
This doesn't affect you guys if I were to get
a septum piercing.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
You know, you keep saying those things.
Speaker 2 (10:00):
It doesn't affect you.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
It doesn't affect you.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
It does affect us.
Speaker 1 (10:03):
Effect?
Speaker 2 (10:04):
We also want you to find a husband.
Speaker 3 (10:07):
Do you think I wouldn't with a step-down piercing?
Speaker 2 (10:09):
For a step-down piercing, it limits the quality of the gentleman.
Speaker 1 (10:13):
I'm just saying, walk in a tightrope there.
Speaker 2 (10:16):
I'm not sure you're going to get to the other
side of the cliff, but you made a turn.
Speaker 1 (10:20):
You made a turn.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
That's a choice.
Speaker 2 (10:22):
Ladies and gentlemen, he enters the morning darkness with the
confidence of a cat with a piercing. Unbothered, slightly dangerous,
and absolutely convinced you need to hear what he has
to say. And edgy. Fresh off another Padres loss, he
stands beneath the fading moon, screaming grievances into the.
Speaker 1 (10:41):
Void like a baseball prophet.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
Nobody asked for it, but everybody deserves.
Speaker 5 (10:45):
He's the tortured voice of San Diego, the patron saint
of blown leads, the primo de los Padres. Dim the lights,
wake the neighbors, and prepare for the lamentations.
Speaker 1 (10:59):
This is The Flag Zone! Let's talk sports. Let's get
it going, y'all.
Speaker 2 (11:05):
The Little League World Series is going on right now,
and there's one person who is rising above the rest.
They pitch for the Alabama team on the mound. They
have 14 strikeouts so far in the tournament, just dominating
the field, leading Alabama to an elimination game win over
Pennsylvania yesterday with six strikeouts.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
The cool part.
Speaker 2 (11:25):
She's one of two girls playing in the tournament this year.
Speaker 1 (11:27):
Right on.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
That's cool. Kinley Rasmus, daughter of MLB pitcher Corey Rasmus,
is dominating the boys this year. So this one's for Kat.
This one's for the girls. Watch out from Alabama. Kinley
Rasmus is the new superstar. Is she 36 years old? No,
she's the same age, but she is quite a bit
taller than the rest of the boys. I think she's whatever.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
We all know girls mature a little bit quicker.
Speaker 3 (11:48):
Now, somebody stopped by my office yesterday and after the
show to tell me about this gal from Alabama and
how excited they were about her.
Speaker 2 (11:57):
Actually, I watched most of the game yesterday because it
was on during my sports show. So I was watching
it in studio and she was, it looked like Shohei
Otani pitching. Like she was amazing.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
Is there a secret girl gang in the office?
Speaker 3 (12:07):
You guys. No, it was actually a man.
Speaker 2 (12:09):
It was Hayes.
Speaker 3 (12:10):
Yeah, from down the hall.
Speaker 5 (12:13):
So Rasmus, Corey Rasmus, was in the major leagues for
84 games over the course of one, two, three, four seasons.
And so, yeah, short major league baseball career with the
Angels and the Atlanta Braves. But my goodness, like it
(12:33):
really doesn't matter anymore. who or how long your dad
is in terms of his playing ability, if you have
a lifetime of baseball knowledge you can pass down to
your kid and your kid's interested in baseball, man, this
is This girl's going to be going places.
Speaker 1 (12:51):
It's pretty stinking cool to watch, man.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
It's pretty cool to see all the boys scared of her,
which is what's happening right now. Can she throw heat? Oh,
she's throwing gas. She's throwing harder than just about anybody
else in the field. She's also just broke some record
at the plate. She got, I think, five hits over
the last couple of games, which is a record for
women in the Little League World Series.
Speaker 3 (13:09):
So good for her.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
Sweet.
Speaker 1 (13:10):
Nicely done.
Speaker 2 (13:11):
She's kicking ass. All right, the PGA Tour. Get ready, folks,
because these words have never been spoken. Golf is about
to be cool and mainstreamed. In 2028. So they announced
yesterday a change to the entire format of how they're
going to do things. They're actually implementing a relegation system
like there is overseas in soccer, where the top 120
players in the world will play on the Champions Tour
(13:32):
of the PGA starting in 2028. The bottom 30 every
year are getting knocked down to the I can't remember
what it was called. It's whatever the tour the next
one down is.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
So the top 120 every year will compete to get
one of 30 spots to move on to the postseason.
And the postseason, instead of how they do it now,
which is three separate tournaments where you whittle down the field,
whittle down the field, it's going to be match play.
They're going to go 1v1. So it's going to be
an actual bracket-style tournament split into two weeks. The first
week is going to go from 32 down to 16 people,
(14:03):
which is in a group stage almost, where you're playing
in a group of four golfers. You go head-to-head, round-robin
style against all of them. And then the second week,
you go from 16 down to 1. So it's going
to be like a sweet 16 of golf. where everybody's
playing against each other, moving up matchups all the way
to the final. Okay, so yeah, the top 90 are safe.
And it's not the Champions Tour because I was curious
(14:23):
about that. It's the Championship Series. Championship Series, yeah. The
Champions Tour used to be what they called the Seniors Tour.
That's the old guys.
Speaker 5 (14:30):
Yeah, and they since changed the name. I forget what
they call it. I think it's Korn Ferry now or
something like that. No, Korn Ferry is the young guys
working their way up. It's like the minor leagues.
Speaker 2 (14:38):
I forget what they call the Champions. Maybe it's still
the Champions Tour. Either way, the bottom 30 dropped like
Fletch was saying.
Speaker 5 (14:43):
And relegation is something that has happened in soccer internationally
for a long time. And it's something that people want
to see in college football. So if the PGA gets
this to go and it's one of, say, the six
top major sports leagues.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
In the country, in the U.S., And it has some traction.
Speaker 5 (15:05):
You might start seeing this leach into other sports.
Speaker 1 (15:09):
I'm very curious about this.
Speaker 2 (15:10):
Well, the rumor or the theory is people who prognosticate
out is that college football will eventually just split into
two major conferences and then have a third conference underneath
where that's where the relegation comes into play. We'll see
if it ever actually happens. Finally, the Padres. It has
been two days since Kwanzaa Jones and Jose Feliciano have
taken over the team as the new owners of the team.
(15:30):
It has been two straight losses for the Padres. Last night,
a 1-0 loss. Rich, you were actually at the game.
Speaker 1 (15:38):
I was at the game.
Speaker 5 (15:38):
I didn't see the fireworks at the end, unfortunately, because
we had young kids who needed to go to bed,
but Mason Miller, he let up the game-breaking homer.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
His first home run given up in over a year.
The Padres' closer, who is the best closer in Major
League Baseball, some say the best pitcher in Major League
Baseball this year, has not given up a run essentially
all season. I think he's given up one. First time
he's given up a home run in more than a year.
And that's a rough loss for the Padres, who could
not get anything going offensively against Libby Dunn's boyfriend.
Speaker 1 (16:08):
Oh, yeah, that's right.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
She was at the game, too, by the way. You
could have seen her, Rich.
Speaker 1 (16:12):
Yeah, we were distracted.
Speaker 5 (16:13):
We had three kids with us, 11 years. Excuse me,
four kids with us, 11 years younger. Did you lose
my two kids? Well, yeah, for parts of it, we
lost all four of them. But Ty, my oldest, was
leading the charge and then Bash, my youngest. And then
we had our friends Trish and Paul with us with
their two, Louie and Spence. And by the end of
(16:35):
the game, Spence, who's like two years old, had the
thousand yard stare.
Speaker 1 (16:39):
He was looking through you.
Speaker 2 (16:40):
He was just like, hey, you.
Speaker 1 (16:43):
Want some Cracker Jacks, kiddo? And he's just.
Speaker 2 (16:45):
Like, I've seen things.
Speaker 4 (16:48):
No man should see. Is it too early to call
the curse of Kwanzaa? You can't do it yet Because
Rich was at the game So he may have cursed
It was probably your thighs Were you wearing shorts?
Speaker 1 (17:01):
I was wearing shorts.
Speaker 3 (17:02):
You wore shorts?
Speaker 1 (17:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (17:04):
And they were reflecting the setting sun.
Speaker 4 (17:08):
In the eyes of Michael King. That's actually why he
struggled in the opening inning. Okay, you don't know this story.
This will all make this super, super quick. Rich threw
out the first pitch in a Padres game one time.
Speaker 2 (17:16):
You did, Rich?
Speaker 4 (17:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (17:17):
The next day on air, Ernie Martinez, who used to
work over on sports, went on air and talked. All
he could talk about all day was Rich's glistening thighs.
They were glistening? Did you do oils?
Speaker 4 (17:26):
He wore those shorty shorts, stubby corduroy shorts.
Speaker 1 (17:30):
So there's a little booty cheek hanging.
Speaker 4 (17:31):
Out the back.
Speaker 3 (17:32):
I don't know those ones, but yeah, corduroy shorts. I mean,
for one, how did you not shave?
Speaker 1 (17:37):
It's a good question. It's a good question. It takes
a lot of Vaseline, Kat. Okay, that's why.
Speaker 2 (17:43):
But he's a professional athlete.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
He's got a lot of Vaseline.
Speaker 4 (17:47):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (17:47):
Keep all the parts well-oiled. Of course. Just the tip
with Big Rich.
Speaker 5 (17:55):
Ah, yes, a little advice. I like to slide out
your way. It's yours for the taking if you want it.
If not, shove it back this way. No harm, no foul.
It's just the tip with Big Rich. And today's advice
is how to catch a baseball at a baseball game.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
Okay, all right, all right, all right. How do you
have this advice?
Speaker 5 (18:13):
When you're sitting in foul territory and you're fortunate enough
to be in one of the hot spots... You got
to be ready. You got to be sprightly and spry
and keep your head on a swivel.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
And that's exactly what I did, Kat. And I came
up with a baseball. Wow.
Speaker 1 (18:31):
Was it a foul ball or was it a throne?
It was a throne ball.
Speaker 3 (18:34):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (18:34):
It was only slightly less cool. Yeah, I agree with you.
A throne ball isn't as cool. And actually, I would
have been more bummed if I dropped the foul ball.
But two of them came my way. One of them
gets tossed over the fence. And here's where the tip
comes in. Here's the advice. So it's coming down to me.
Speaker 2 (18:50):
I'm in the.
Speaker 5 (18:51):
Middle of conversation. And the guy I was talking to, Paul,
our friend, he goes, dude, the ball. And so I
look up and the only eye can catch this ball.
Speaker 1 (19:01):
It is going to hit me in the face if
I don't put my hands up.
Speaker 5 (19:04):
So in a last second effort, I put both hands
in front of my face and I'm like, I'm trying
to catch it like a football, you know, with two hands.
It touches the wire on its way down, switches directions,
bounces off my ring finger on my right hand and
disappears behind me. A woman behind me catches the ball.
Speaker 2 (19:23):
And so I look down at the children and I'm like, oh,
my God, your father has disappointed you. I was like,
I am a loser. You got a one hand in
the baseball.
Speaker 1 (19:32):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
That's the advice.
Speaker 5 (19:34):
Fletch, you beat me to it. Just a tip with
Big Rich. You always one hand baseball.
Speaker 4 (19:39):
So Fletch, you caught a foul ball the last time
you went to a game. yeah right over my mom's
head wow save your life that's got some speed on
it that was a pop-up so it was just it
was uh it was lightly coming down but it was
gonna knock my mom out it's like just my hand
was literally over her head when i caught.
Speaker 5 (19:54):
It dude it's same kind of thing happened so next
ball's coming over the uh whatever you call it the
netting right behind the away team dugout one of the
pirates players threw it And again, it's only I really
have claim to this. There's a couple of empty seats
to my left because people have gotten up to use
the bathroom.
Speaker 2 (20:12):
And so I'm like, you can't go two hands to
catch a foul ball. The baseball is too small. So
I kind of backhanded with my right, catch it, bring
it down, toss it to my son. He holds it
triumphant over his head.
Speaker 1 (20:25):
It was one of the best feelings in the world.
Speaker 5 (20:27):
And I'm looking around and I turn around and I
look at the guy who was, who was like a
row behind me, who would have gotten the baseball if
it didn't bounce over his head.
Speaker 1 (20:35):
The first one I tried to catch. And he goes,
that makes up for the error. And you did that
part right, too.
Speaker 2 (20:41):
The part two of this tip is if you're a
grown man, you never hold on to the baseball.
Speaker 4 (20:45):
No, no, no, no.
Speaker 2 (20:46):
You find whatever kid is closest to you and give
it to them.
Speaker 5 (20:49):
The woman who caught the baseball that bounced off my hands,
I thought she because she was like a grandma's age.
Speaker 1 (20:55):
I thought she was going to give it to one
of our kids.
Speaker 5 (20:58):
Classy thing to do right if i was there with
my wife and i caught a ball and i saw
a dad trying to catch a ball for her kids
i would have given it to the kids i go
i go hey good job.
Speaker 2 (21:08):
Like i kind of gestured to her expect her to
talk to me like give it to the boys she
goes thanks stuff's in her pocket i'm like no way
come on granny wake up.
Speaker 3 (21:18):
Okay here's the most important question did your wife see
this go down rich yeah was she impressed Yeah.
Speaker 2 (21:25):
She won? Wow.
Speaker 3 (21:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (21:27):
Nicely done. I'm going to be honest with you, which
netted me zero hanky-panky because we got home from the
Padres and she was fast asleep. So tired.
Speaker 4 (21:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (21:39):
Head hurts. Oh, yeah. Headache.
Speaker 5 (21:41):
It's Big Rich TV and Fletch, 101.5 KGB. So one
of us has a secret. And no, it's not Kat
who walked in here and told nobody that she was
going to pretend to get her nose pierced.
Speaker 3 (21:52):
I wasn't pretending to get it pierced. I just have
a fake nose piercing in and you guys assumed that
it was real.
Speaker 1 (21:59):
Well, I didn't even notice it was there.
Speaker 5 (22:01):
Well, actually, I guess technically none of us noticed it
was there because you were hiding your face from us
this morning.
Speaker 1 (22:06):
You kept leaving the studio.
Speaker 3 (22:09):
I wasn't hiding it. You guys just didn't truly look
at me until like a long time after you first
saw me.
Speaker 1 (22:16):
You also had a quiet morning. You weren't saying much.
Speaker 5 (22:18):
And then when we got on air, you started talking
and it took, it still took me minutes. I was
into our opening diatribe and then boom, it hit me
like a thunderbolt.
Speaker 4 (22:26):
Are you going to wear this thing all day?
Speaker 3 (22:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (22:29):
Is this a commitment?
Speaker 3 (22:30):
I have meetings later, so no, I'm going to take
it out.
Speaker 1 (22:33):
Oh, that's for the best. I'm going to un-magnet it
when I go to meetings. Maybe a meeting at like 7.15.
Speaker 3 (22:37):
Do you guys want, are you bothered by it for
the show?
Speaker 2 (22:39):
No, no, no. I mean... Really cool.
Speaker 1 (22:43):
Somebody should get a free bowl of soup with it.
Imagine a choice like that. What's good on you, though?
Speaker 2 (22:49):
I'd like to see a TV in it.
Speaker 1 (22:51):
That's not going to happen personally.
Speaker 3 (22:52):
We can clean it and magnet it to your nose.
Speaker 2 (22:55):
He's put worse stuff in his nose. What if I
put it in my nose? Secrets, secrets. We'll work our
way back to that. Secrets, secrets are no fun.
Speaker 3 (23:04):
I think that Rich would look pretty cool with it in.
Speaker 2 (23:07):
With the nose piercing? No, definitely not. But I will
try it. The secret is... You want to be edgy?
I just turned 40 and I'm thinking it's time. Does
anybody have black nail polish? So, Fletch, you have had
a little bit of a side piece, a little bit
(23:28):
of a side project. Don't say side piece. I'm happily married.
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (23:32):
To the job it is. It feels like you're cheating
on us.
Speaker 2 (23:36):
I did buy a high-powered MacBook Pro from a sketchy
gentleman in a grocery outlet parking lot.
Speaker 3 (23:41):
Seriously?
Speaker 2 (23:42):
Yes.
Speaker 3 (23:43):
From where? Did you find it from Facebook Marketplace? Uh-huh.
Speaker 2 (23:45):
And then we met at a grocery outlet parking lot,
and I'm using that high-powered MacBook Pro to.
Speaker 1 (23:52):
Build a thing. Okay, we're going to play 20 questions.
You have to answer yes or no.
Speaker 2 (23:56):
I'll tell you a funny story about it first, because
the only two people on the planet who have the
link to this thing I'm building are my brother and
one of our best friends.
Speaker 4 (24:04):
And we're kind of working on it together, even though
they're not doing anything. Wait a second, you haven't even
given a password to this thing to Kendall?
Speaker 2 (24:10):
No.
Speaker 1 (24:10):
No. This truly is a side piece.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
Wow. She knows what's going on, but she would show people.
And so literally last night, I get a text from
my brother who's like, hey, I showed Oliver. I was like,
what the hell are you talking about?
Speaker 3 (24:21):
You showed Oliver.
Speaker 1 (24:22):
So you are.
Speaker 5 (24:22):
Building something that you can't talk about on the radio.
Speaker 1 (24:27):
I don't know how patents work or anything.
Speaker 3 (24:29):
Yeah, I wouldn't talk about it because I think it's
a really cool thing.
Speaker 1 (24:32):
I do too. But it's stealing you from us.
Speaker 5 (24:36):
You have more questions and answers next. Big Rich TD
and Fletch, 1-1-5 KGB. So Fletch has been working on
something for... Really, it's going on months now. It's stolen
away from us or our group text at odd times
of the day because he'll have fits and starts with us.
Speaker 1 (24:56):
He gets really down the path with it.
Speaker 2 (24:58):
But he doesn't really want to talk about it.
Speaker 5 (25:01):
On air too much because he's worried about the intellectual
property being stolen.
Speaker 1 (25:05):
So we're going to do a little bit of 20 questions.
Speaker 5 (25:07):
You can say yes or no to the questions that
you're comfortable answering.
Speaker 2 (25:11):
Answering okay the answer yes is we all will be
buying a massive house in lake tahoe for our vacation
sweet something like.
Speaker 3 (25:17):
That and you know what fletch i tend to agree
i think that the project you've been working on will.
Speaker 4 (25:23):
Actually take off okay yeah i think i think it's
a good idea.
Speaker 5 (25:27):
It's okay is it a computer project yes okay is
it something that the end result will benefit mankind Yes.
Speaker 2 (25:36):
Okay. I mean, at least the mankind who shares similar
ideals that I share. Okay.
Speaker 1 (25:40):
Fletch is a man of some people.
Speaker 2 (25:42):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (25:42):
Is it political? No, no, no, no.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
God, no. Not the opposite of. Is it?
Speaker 3 (25:47):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (25:47):
It's something you use on the computer. Is it something
you use on your phone? That's the plan.
Speaker 4 (25:51):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (25:52):
You're a 49er fan.
Speaker 2 (25:52):
Is it 49er related?
Speaker 4 (25:53):
It is not.
Speaker 2 (25:56):
Is it sports related kind of adjacent sports adjacent much
like we are is it okay is it like uh
is it like i i mean like to like social
media is it anything like social media sports related social
media okay so that's an if is it maybe not
really is it something i will buy no no it's
(26:18):
gonna be free Oh, a free service? Free.
Speaker 3 (26:21):
To the people?
Speaker 1 (26:21):
All you want is our data? Question mark?
Speaker 2 (26:24):
Oh, yeah. How do you think I make money? I'm
going to sell all your data to everybody else.
Speaker 3 (26:28):
Is that how people make money on free things?
Speaker 2 (26:30):
No, advertising mostly, but they also sell your data.
Speaker 1 (26:33):
Technically, radio is free, but we just force you to
sit through ads.
Speaker 3 (26:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (26:37):
It's true.
Speaker 1 (26:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (26:38):
But like every time you agree to user agreement on
a website, they're probably taking your data and shipping it
over to Amazon to Google. That's how when you're talking
like and you're like, oh, my God, an ad just
popped up.
Speaker 3 (26:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (26:48):
Or every time you sign up for a club card.
Speaker 2 (26:50):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 1 (26:51):
They sell that. Is that true?
Speaker 2 (26:52):
Your phone number?
Speaker 1 (26:54):
I knew it.
Speaker 2 (26:54):
When you put your phone number at like bonds, when
you do that, they're like, oh, well, this is what
this person buys. Man, he buys a lot of peanut butter.
Let's start sending him peanut butter ads.
Speaker 3 (27:03):
Oh, that's crazy. I know.
Speaker 1 (27:05):
But I am teaching myself how to code. Okay.
Speaker 3 (27:07):
Okay. Wow.
Speaker 4 (27:08):
All right.
Speaker 2 (27:09):
All right. Oh, oh, oh.
Speaker 1 (27:10):
Let's go.
Speaker 5 (27:11):
Building an app, somewhat sports-related... Not really social media.
Speaker 1 (27:17):
It's going to be free.
Speaker 2 (27:19):
All right.
Speaker 1 (27:20):
Does your app, like, can you make friends on your app?
Speaker 2 (27:24):
I would say that's a big part of it. Is
it a dating app? No.
Speaker 1 (27:27):
That's my next question. Did it involve nudity?
Speaker 2 (27:30):
No, no, no.
Speaker 1 (27:31):
I mean, can it involve nudity?
Speaker 3 (27:33):
TD won't be downloading it.
Speaker 1 (27:34):
So far, there is zero rules against nudity.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
Oh, okay.
Speaker 1 (27:40):
Do you think that you'll need to add that rule?
Speaker 3 (27:42):
100%.
Speaker 2 (27:42):
It's coming soon. There's hardly password verification right now. Let's
ask him questions about sports he likes. Is it about
axe throwing? Yeah, dude.
Speaker 1 (27:52):
It's an app about axe throwing. Is it about candlestick holding?
And this is where the questions end.
Speaker 2 (27:56):
Thank you. No patents have been put on this yet.
I don't want to give anything else away.
Speaker 1 (28:00):
Is it about darts? Answer that question. You said darts
or farts?
Speaker 2 (28:05):
Darts. Oh, then no. Is it about farts?
Speaker 1 (28:08):
Answer that question. Now you got me curious.
Speaker 2 (28:10):
No. No, we're done. Okay.
Speaker 4 (28:13):
All right.
Speaker 1 (28:14):
Out of respect for Jaden Daniels.
Speaker 2 (28:15):
I plead the fourth.
Speaker 1 (28:16):
Nice. That's a good point.
Speaker 4 (28:17):
Nice. That's a good point. When do you think you're
going to unveil this? I'm hoping to have something ready
to go by the end of the year. By the way,
is the Fourth.
Speaker 5 (28:24):
Amendment the one where you're not allowed to quarter soldiers
under protest?
Speaker 2 (28:27):
I believe so, yeah.
Speaker 1 (28:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (28:29):
The Fifth Amendment's taken up by the Washington Commander's quarterback.
Speaker 3 (28:31):
Oh, God.
Speaker 2 (28:32):
Is it still?
Speaker 1 (28:32):
Is it in perpetuity? Oh, yeah, it's a problem. Oh, okay.
Speaker 2 (28:36):
Too bad. I'll tell you what. I'm so curious and
intrigued by what this app is going to be.
Speaker 1 (28:41):
And we only have to wait until the end of
the year? That's what I hope. Probably not.
Speaker 2 (28:45):
Everything takes like 45 minutes to sit down and do
one small time.
Speaker 1 (28:48):
Is it a Christmas app?
Speaker 3 (28:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (28:50):
No.
Speaker 4 (28:50):
Is it going to be a Christmas present you're going
to print out on a piece of paper and then
fold up and place under our keyboards and then never
make good on it?
Speaker 2 (28:57):
CD, once I get rich, you are my sunscreen applicator
or my beer opener. I can't remember which one you are,
which one Rich is. I hope it's the beer opener.
Speaker 1 (29:03):
The Christmas present you'll get one day is a contract advance.
I'm the CEO. You're our boss. I'm the CEO of SPF.
That's what he told me.
Speaker 3 (29:13):
I've been doing a lot of research on the most non-toxic,
most clean types of sunscreen.
Speaker 1 (29:18):
So, Fletch, maybe you want me. I want the most
deep possible.
Speaker 4 (29:21):
You have to cover yourself in mud like Arnold Schwarzenegger
in Predator.
Speaker 5 (29:25):
I've been doing research on the most non-toxic, organic, heavy
metal-free fake septum piercings.
Speaker 1 (29:36):
And I'm going to unveil my list of.
Probably a bad material.
Speaker 3 (29:43):
It's not surgical steel.
Speaker 4 (29:49):
Well, this one hurt. It hurt yesterday. One of the
most prolific and accomplished voices in music history, Dolly Parton,
country music legend, died at the age of 80 yesterday,
just four days after saying, I still have so many
things I want to achieve, the president. has ordered American
flags to be flown at half staff at the white
house and all government buildings nationwide for the next week
(30:09):
to honor Dolly. The empire state building was lit up
in a sparkly pink tribute last night and millions of
people all around the country and the world shared stories
and poured out love and affection and support online yesterday.
It was, uh, A moving day yesterday as, man, almost
the Elvis of our time passes away.
Speaker 1 (30:28):
100%.
Speaker 4 (30:29):
It's America's grandma to some, America's mom to some, America's
sister or aunt.
Speaker 1 (30:35):
I mean, everyone loved her.
Speaker 3 (30:37):
I have not seen any more posts about a celebrity
passing than I did yesterday with Dolly Parton.
Speaker 2 (30:43):
Dolly?
Speaker 3 (30:44):
I saw more people mourn her loss than any other celebrity.
Speaker 1 (30:47):
That I've seen. She was beloved.
Speaker 2 (30:49):
It's like.
Speaker 5 (30:51):
It's like when you lose a family member that united everybody,
you know, that everybody just really.
Speaker 2 (30:57):
Enjoyed having around her stories, her charisma.
Speaker 5 (31:01):
That was Dolly Parton. And things won't be the same
in the family without her. That's what it kind of
feels like.
Speaker 3 (31:07):
Right.
Speaker 5 (31:08):
I learned so much about Dolly Parton that I did
not know. Obviously, we all know she wrote Jolene, which
is easily one of the most covered songs on the planet,
along with I Will Always Love You.
Speaker 1 (31:18):
She wrote those two songs.
Speaker 5 (31:20):
People forget because of some of the renditions of the
song she wrote are so famous.
Speaker 1 (31:25):
But it was those were hers. Also, she grew up
in Tennessee. She had 11 siblings.
Speaker 3 (31:32):
Wow.
Speaker 5 (31:32):
They lived in a one-room cabin in rural Tennessee.
Speaker 1 (31:38):
That was her upbringing. She was dirt poor.
Speaker 3 (31:40):
Dirt poor.
Speaker 2 (31:40):
Dirt poor growing up.
Speaker 4 (31:42):
And, I mean, just a lovely human being who gave
back her entire career.
Speaker 3 (31:48):
Oh, my gosh. She was funding a lot of nonprofits.
She was giving so much back to so many people. There,
I guess, is a book program where kids from the
From the time that they're born until they turn five
years old, they can get a monthly book from her foundation.
Speaker 1 (32:03):
It's pretty cool.
Speaker 4 (32:04):
Married for 59 years. Her husband passed away last year.
So maybe a little broken heart in there as well. But, man,
it was... 80.
Speaker 3 (32:13):
She's only 80. I mean, that's relatively young when you
look at the grand scheme of life. Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (32:18):
It kind of rocked me a little bit. I was
set back on that one.
Speaker 5 (32:21):
Yeah, there have been a couple of celebrity deaths that
have gotten me, that cut me to the core.
Speaker 3 (32:26):
Hers hurt.
Speaker 5 (32:28):
Robin Williams hurt. You know what I mean? I remember
when George Carlin, who was like... one of my favorite
standups and he was an older guy when, when I
was young. So I knew eventually it would go, but
that one rocked me. But, but yeah, that losing Dolly,
one of my favorite lines that she used to say,
because people would ask her about her hair all the time.
Speaker 1 (32:48):
Was the higher, the hair, the closer to God.
Speaker 2 (32:51):
Right.
Speaker 1 (32:52):
Well, Dolly, you're right there next to him. And that's
where you belong.
Speaker 2 (32:56):
Absolutely.
Speaker 3 (32:57):
Absolutely.
Speaker 4 (32:58):
And as of yesterday, officially official, ladies and gentlemen, NASCAR
returning to San Diego.
Speaker 2 (33:05):
Here we go. It is going to be.
Speaker 4 (33:08):
The NASCAR Cup and O'Reilly Series. That'll be the only
levels during the race weekend. The NASCAR Truck Series will
not be competing, but it's going to go a little
bit later than this year. This year was over 4th
of July. Next year, it'll be July 30th through August 1st,
but NASCAR back.
Speaker 2 (33:22):
NASCAR back.
Speaker 1 (33:23):
They're going to do it the same area?
Speaker 2 (33:26):
Same area.
Speaker 1 (33:26):
Same place.
Speaker 3 (33:26):
I went.
Speaker 1 (33:27):
They should.
Speaker 3 (33:29):
I don't know that I would go again. It wasn't
quite my thing.
Speaker 2 (33:31):
I don't know if it's for you, Kat.
Speaker 1 (33:33):
It was a one and done for me. That's okay.
Speaker 5 (33:35):
And I think a lot of people, it will be.
It will be a once in a lifetime experience for
them because I.
Speaker 2 (33:40):
Got a buddy who went and said it was the
coolest weekend of his life. Really?
Speaker 1 (33:43):
He said he had so much fun.
Speaker 4 (33:45):
We met people at the Jackass premiere who drove out
in a RV from South or North Carolina.
Speaker 1 (33:53):
South Carolina.
Speaker 4 (33:53):
And drove across the country, loved it, had the time
of their life, and said, I hope they do it
again because we are coming back.
Speaker 3 (33:59):
Okay, it's definitely for some people, and I was not
one of them. I mean, I thought it was cool.
It was like a cool experience, but definitely a one
and done.
Speaker 1 (34:06):
Kat, you're from the Pacific Northwest.
Speaker 5 (34:08):
If Coronado was holding a granola festival, you'd be all
over it.
Speaker 1 (34:12):
There you go. In Seattle, we called it Hemp Fest.
Who cares? Of course you did.
Speaker 3 (34:17):
And you're only saying that, Rich, because I was wearing
a fake septum ring today. I've since taken.
Speaker 1 (34:23):
It out since you guys made so.
Speaker 3 (34:25):
Much fun of me.
Speaker 2 (34:25):
It's just in.
Speaker 1 (34:26):
You know what? It's in the trash.
Speaker 3 (34:28):
It's not in the trash. I put it in my purse.
Speaker 1 (34:29):
We were worried about the toxic metals. That's all we
were worried about.
Speaker 2 (34:33):
And you know what? With NASCAR coming back, you got
a long wait. Speaking of toxic metals. Guns and roses.
Speaker 1 (34:41):
You don't got to wait for this.
Speaker 5 (34:43):
You got Snapdragon Stadium going to be lit up with
GNR and the Black Crows. If you want tickets to
that show, very easy. All you got to do is
call this number, 888-570-115. If you're caller number 10, you're
going to see Guns N' Roses. In the meantime, keep
it glued.
Speaker 1 (35:01):
To 1015 KGB.
Speaker 5 (35:01):
We're going to have another opportunity for you win a
pair later on. Big Rich TD and Fletch, 1-1-5 KGB.
A huge congrats to Nicole, who just won the tickets
to GNR. That's going to be a ton of fun
at Snapdragon Stadium. That's coming up in very short order.
We're a week away from that show. Guns N' Roses
and the Black Crows. We're going to have another opportunity
(35:22):
in less than an hour for you to win more tickets.
Speaker 1 (35:24):
Also, we started the show this way.
Speaker 5 (35:27):
We didn't get through all of this because, Kat, your
septum piercing or fake septum piercing, as we found out
later on.
Speaker 2 (35:35):
It's magnetic.
Speaker 1 (35:35):
Magnetic septum piercing. Distract me. Operation Donut Trap. We did it. Success. Success.
Speaker 2 (35:42):
High fives.
Speaker 5 (35:44):
We encourage everybody to shoot us a sign up. If
you want us to bring dozens of donuts to your
workplace at one one five KGB dot com. Find our
show page, Big Rich TDM Fletch, and sign up there
and we can bring donuts to you. So yeah, Garnett
Laundry and Dry Cleaning dropped the donuts off there yesterday.
(36:04):
And I didn't finish this because what was funny is
I go to the dry cleaner, I drop off the donuts.
Speaker 1 (36:11):
I'm like, here you go. You guys won.
Speaker 2 (36:13):
And they were surprised because they didn't sign up.
Speaker 1 (36:16):
We had three.
Speaker 5 (36:17):
Winners before them who did not answer their phone or
could not accept Donut today or no longer work at
the place that they had signed up with or at all.
Speaker 1 (36:27):
And so.
Speaker 2 (36:27):
Sometimes you need a break.
Speaker 1 (36:29):
Yeah. Trust me. I'm right there, sister.
Speaker 3 (36:32):
And so.
Speaker 5 (36:34):
I dropped the donuts and we're talking for a second.
And the owner of the dry cleaning shop has been
to the house to deliver dry cleaning before.
Speaker 4 (36:42):
And she says to me, she was like, hey. They
deliver your clothes? So you have your clothes picked up
and dropped off?
Speaker 5 (36:48):
There are occasions where we do have them pick it up.
But almost always they drop it off for us. They're
wonderful people.
Speaker 1 (36:56):
Living the life. The lady who owns the place, Cece,
she's wonderful.
Speaker 2 (37:02):
She goes, by the way.
Speaker 5 (37:04):
I noticed that you have a passion fruit plant growing
on your front fence, okay?
Speaker 1 (37:08):
Oh, no way. And she goes, can I have some
passion fruits? And you said, absolutely not.
Speaker 2 (37:15):
It's so funny. It's like you were reading my lips.
I was like, no way.
Speaker 1 (37:19):
Do you actually use your passion fruit, Rich? So she
gets really upset.
Speaker 2 (37:23):
She was like, oh.
Speaker 5 (37:24):
And I'm like, no, I'm kidding. Of course you can
have some passion fruit. So I'm like, you know what, Cece?
Can I tell you something? I'm really glad you asked
because you know what is a pet peeve of mine?
It's when people just assume they can take fruit from
your property without asking.
Speaker 3 (37:37):
Does that happen?
Speaker 2 (37:39):
All the time.
Speaker 3 (37:39):
Where they just like take a fruit from your tree?
Speaker 1 (37:42):
Wait till you hear this story.
Speaker 3 (37:44):
Oh, no.
Speaker 1 (37:44):
Holy smokes.
Speaker 2 (37:46):
I had a stop and chat with a thief.
Speaker 4 (37:49):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (37:50):
Oh, okay.
Speaker 5 (37:53):
On the other side, I'm going to explain how this
all broke down and how I nearly had to take
a baby stroller away from a woman.
Speaker 3 (38:01):
Wow. Wait, was she filling it up?
Speaker 5 (38:03):
That's next. Passion fruits. The scene of the crime was
in front of our house on the sidewalk.
Speaker 1 (38:10):
Is it passion fruit season?
Speaker 4 (38:11):
Because someone that my son works with brought him a
whole bag of passion fruit.
Speaker 2 (38:16):
Oh, really?
Speaker 1 (38:17):
Then we brought him home, and I said, what are
we going to do with it?
Speaker 5 (38:19):
In San Diego, the passion fruit season goes from late
summer through until... Sometimes it extends close to November, but
usually it's like.
Say July is when all of the flowers bloom. And
then every flower that blooms on your vine, it turns
into a fruit. Passion fruit season. Great name for a
(38:42):
country song. TD, write that down.
Speaker 3 (38:44):
Well, there's a Drake song that's named Passion Fruit.
Speaker 2 (38:46):
Yes, there is.
Speaker 4 (38:48):
It was his first solo number one. That's probably the
only Drake song that I can stomach. Except for the
weird minute intro that needs to be deleted.
Speaker 3 (39:00):
It is long.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
These passion fruits also have kind of a long intro
because the plant has to flower before they turn into
the fruiting body. That's what fruits do, most fruits.
Speaker 4 (39:11):
Now, I will also say, I don't think I've ever
had a passion fruit outside of a Snapple or a Sobe.
Speaker 3 (39:17):
Well, that's not a real passion fruit, TD. It's artificial flavor.
Speaker 5 (39:22):
You can take the juice and boil it down and
make a delicious jelly. We've done that before. You can
make margaritas out of passion fruits. We've done that before.
Speaker 3 (39:30):
So you really utilize your passion fruit off your vine.
Speaker 1 (39:34):
I love the flavor. So does Annie.
Speaker 3 (39:35):
How.
Speaker 4 (39:36):
many passion fruit does one tree produce we have.
Speaker 2 (39:40):
Three vines parked in front of our front fence.
Speaker 1 (39:43):
Is it a tree or is it a bush it's like.
Speaker 5 (39:45):
It's basically it's a vine that grows in and it
bushes out you know so we have we produce i
would argue hundreds of passion fruits per season hundreds hundreds
and then how many how many passion fruit do you
need to make said margarita A good amount because the
yield in a single passion fruit is very little.
Speaker 4 (40:07):
You figure they're about the size of, say, a.
Speaker 1 (40:10):
Little bit bigger than a golf ball.
Speaker 5 (40:11):
Somewhere in between a golf ball and a tennis ball.
Speaker 4 (40:15):
In the bag, they almost look like a little bit
smaller plum that's shriveled up a little bit.
Speaker 1 (40:20):
Yeah, and so when you cut them in half... Who
stole the passion fruit?
Speaker 2 (40:24):
I'm learning how to make a margarita, Fletch. We all
know how to make a margarita.
Speaker 1 (40:28):
There's a baby stroller in passion fruits. Oh my gosh.
Speaker 5 (40:31):
So I see this woman, she's coming down the block
and I'm parking my car, right? And she stops in
front of one of our neighbor's house, who, by the way,
also has a passion fruit vine.
Speaker 1 (40:43):
And I never noticed it, but it's across the street.
Speaker 5 (40:45):
And it's like four houses down diagonal from my driveway.
So I'm standing on the apron of our driveway because
in Pacific Beach, they toss like a Pacific Beach collar.
I've never even opened it. Pacific Beach News, whatever it is.
It's a newspaper, right? It's basically a vehicle for advertising.
I always throw it away. Anyways, four houses down, this
lady has a baby stroller, and she's doing something in
(41:08):
front of my neighbor's house. I don't really clock it.
I see someone pushing a stroller. I mean, I assume
they're just pushing a stroller.
Speaker 3 (41:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (41:16):
So I'm walking into a house, but then I'm like, ah, shoot.
I forgot a package out front. So I come back out,
and then I realize she's still out there. She's pulling
passion fruits off of a vine down the block.
Speaker 3 (41:27):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (41:27):
No baby in the stroller? So that's where this story
gets weird. So she.
Speaker 3 (41:33):
So now you notice that she's thieving.
Speaker 1 (41:35):
From your neighbor. So now you're probably worried about your blind.
Speaker 5 (41:38):
I didn't even think about it at first, to be
honest with you, because.
Speaker 1 (41:41):
She could live there. Oh, right, right.
Speaker 3 (41:43):
Okay, okay.
Speaker 5 (41:44):
I'm not even in the suspicious mindset yet, but I
walk into the house.
Speaker 1 (41:48):
Also a song. Yeah, Suspicious Minds by Elvis Presley. Very
good one.
Speaker 5 (41:52):
I look out my blind again as I'm passing through
the living room, and I see out my front door,
she's now on our side of the street.
Speaker 2 (42:01):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (42:01):
And so... So she crossed over the street.
Speaker 3 (42:05):
Where are you headed, lady?
Speaker 1 (42:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (42:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (42:08):
So then I'm like, I got to pee. I'm going
to walk outside after I pee. I'm going to see
what's going on. So I walk out to the porch.
Speaker 2 (42:15):
And I don't see her. To pee. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (42:18):
So you pee on your passion fruit.
Speaker 2 (42:19):
Go on.
Speaker 1 (42:20):
I went out back to pee, came back to the front.
Speaker 2 (42:22):
Okay. But I walk out front and I don't see her.
But then I see the bush.
Speaker 4 (42:28):
No.
Speaker 3 (42:28):
He's in your bush?
Speaker 1 (42:30):
Oh, wait till what? I turn the corner on this
lady and wait till you hear what happened. Oh, it
was insane. The stroller gets involved. There was a dog.
Passion fruit's a plenty. That's next.
Speaker 2 (42:43):
It's 101.5 KGB. We have a passion fruit caper that
we need to get to still. All right.
Speaker 4 (42:51):
So there's a woman. She's pushing a baby stroller down
the street. You see her across the street at a
neighbor's house stealing passion fruit. Then she all of a
sudden disappears. She was headed to your house. You walk
out front, and now you see the passion fruit, vine, bush,
whatever it is.
Speaker 2 (43:06):
It's rustling. It's swaying. It's shaking.
Speaker 5 (43:09):
And then I see the crest of her head kind
of in between some of the vines that parted.
Speaker 1 (43:14):
I'm like, oh, my gosh. I was like, I got red-handed.
Speaker 5 (43:18):
So I walked down my, I got two steps down
to the path, you know, from my porch to the gate.
And I open up the gate and I kind of
sneak around the side because we have a gate out
the front of the path.
Speaker 2 (43:30):
And we got a side.
Speaker 5 (43:32):
So I go at the side and I come down,
I peek around the corner and she's got her hand.
Speaker 2 (43:35):
In the vine.
Speaker 4 (43:37):
Right?
Speaker 1 (43:37):
So check this out.
Speaker 3 (43:38):
Is she basically like in your driveway?
Speaker 2 (43:40):
Well, no.
Speaker 5 (43:41):
So the vine is attached to our front fence. So
like I came out the driveway and I turned to
my left around the corner of the gate to look
directly at her where she's got her hand in the vine.
Speaker 1 (43:51):
Like she's all the way up. Like, I mean, imagine
if she's a mechanic. There's, I mean, she's checking the
oil filter.
Speaker 5 (43:58):
She's grabbing that. She's really under there. And so I go, hey,
can I help you? And I say friendly, just like that.
She turns and looks at me with her hands still
stuffed inside my bush.
Speaker 1 (44:11):
And I go, I go, I'm like, yeah, you. I'm like,
can I help you? Is there anything you need?
Speaker 4 (44:15):
You need?
Speaker 1 (44:16):
And she was like, no.
Speaker 5 (44:18):
And then she turns her head back and she continues
to pull stuff.
Speaker 2 (44:22):
What?
Speaker 3 (44:22):
I'm like, just kind of disregarding you.
Speaker 5 (44:25):
That didn't scare her off. So I'm like, hey, I
live here. And she goes, oh, okay, good. Then you'll,
she was like, then you'll be grateful.
Speaker 2 (44:33):
What is that? She has this accent. I think it's
Eastern European. She was like, you'll be grateful for what
I'm doing. And I'm like, what are you doing?
Speaker 5 (44:40):
She's like, your leaves, they are stuffed up into your
bush and I'm pulling them out.
Speaker 1 (44:44):
I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like,
so you're doing some landscaping.
Speaker 4 (44:51):
So now she's pretending that she's not stealing the passion fruit.
She's just thinning out the bush to help it grow.
She's a good Samaritan. Wow.
Speaker 1 (44:59):
She's just simply shaking.
Speaker 2 (45:01):
Leaves out of the bush on my front. Meanwhile, she
has a stroller. So I walk several steps closer to her.
I'm like, hey, we don't need help.
Speaker 5 (45:10):
And I'm worried that you get stung by a bee,
an animal bites you, you're on our property. I was like,
I don't really... we'll hire someone if we need help
with that. But right now we're all good. And you're
very nice about this.
Speaker 2 (45:23):
And so, so she turns to me again, she goes, your,
your vine is going to die if you don't help it.
Speaker 1 (45:29):
I'm like, all right.
Speaker 5 (45:30):
I'm like, I'm, I'm trying to, I'm trying to be
as civil as possible. I'm like, I think you need
to leave. And so I walked three steps closer.
Speaker 2 (45:39):
Now I'm standing next to her and I, I, I'm
checking to see if there's a kid there because I'm
assuming she's been ignoring this child for now.
Speaker 5 (45:47):
Down the block all the way to the front of
our there's no kid in there her stroller is filled with.
Speaker 2 (45:53):
Passion fruits it's a kidless stroller it's a kidless stroller
it's filled with passion fruits and i say hey you
gotta beat it otherwise i'm calling the police and she
was like beat it what's this beat it i'm like
it means leave like michael jackson 1015 KGB, trending with TD.
Speaker 4 (46:12):
Well, if you've opened up your phone and seen some
videos here, man, a horrific scene started being reported about
an hour and a half ago. Catastrophic flash flooding has
hit China and Nepal. At least 95 people confirmed dead
at the moment. a toll is likely to rise. Hundreds
of tourists, including foreign nationals, are missing currently. The small
Himalayan nation of Nepal badly hit. Dramatic footage shows a
(46:36):
torrent of water hitting Nepal-China border. Villages just absolutely submerged.
The cameras that are showing the footage get submerged in
mud and water. Helicopters are trying to pick people up
from rooftops. It's a horrific scene.
Speaker 3 (46:51):
It's a gruesome scene. And the The death toll right
now is at 95. I can't imagine that it's not
going to rise significantly.
Speaker 2 (46:57):
I mean, it's insane.
Speaker 4 (46:58):
Just looking at the video, it looked like there's more
than 95 people who were running through the through the streets.
Speaker 2 (47:05):
So, I mean, it's like a movie. Yeah, that doesn't
look real. A movie where there's a tsunami that comes
in and wipes out an entire city.
Speaker 1 (47:13):
Fletch mentioned it yesterday.
Speaker 5 (47:15):
Social media, especially X, avails you the opportunity to see, unfortunately,
so much death that you've become almost inoculated to it,
like to the shock factor of it. Like you can
turn on your social media and you could see somebody
get drone bombed overseas.
Speaker 2 (47:33):
Like, What a delight.
Speaker 3 (47:34):
It's awful.
Speaker 1 (47:35):
It's awful.
Speaker 5 (47:36):
And these videos that are captured from Nepal, as the
enormous landslide and flood is careening through this town, you're
literally watching hundreds of people die at a time.
Speaker 1 (47:49):
It's insane. Gut-wrenching. Absolutely gut-wrenching.
Speaker 4 (47:52):
Man, Meta and a coalition of state attorney generals have
settled a major federal case. So Facebook going to have
to pay some money because they're saying that the social
media giant misrepresented the extent of child related mental health
harms caused by the apps like Facebook and Instagram. As
part of the settlement, they're going to have to pay
$ 16. 7 billion to 29 different states.
Speaker 2 (48:18):
I saw that original lawsuit was over a trillion.
Speaker 3 (48:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (48:21):
It got negotiated down to the billion. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (48:23):
Whoever the Facebook lawyer is did a hell of a
job because we literally went from a trillion dollars to
$ 16. 7 billion. But the state of California... could get up
to $ 2 billion. I'm not sure how that helps the kids.
Speaker 3 (48:37):
Was that dispersed to families affected by?
Speaker 2 (48:40):
Not that I see.
Speaker 1 (48:43):
It's not like a class action lawsuit that's going to
go to people? No, no, no.
Speaker 4 (48:47):
That's going to the states, and then they'll handle it. Yeah,
they'll figure it out. There's also some changes that are
supposed to come to Facebook and Instagram, including nighttime blocks
for teenagers. And enhanced age assurance measures.
Speaker 2 (49:04):
Whatever that is.
Speaker 3 (49:05):
Meaning like you have to verify your age instead of
being able to sign up and say, yeah, I was.
Speaker 2 (49:09):
Born in 1992.
Speaker 4 (49:09):
Yeah, I guess you'd have to take a picture of your.
Speaker 2 (49:12):
Driver's license or something If you were born in 92,
you'd be like 36 years old now.
Speaker 1 (49:19):
I think 34.
Speaker 4 (49:20):
Yeah, 34, four years old. So wait, so you, so Kat,
you were born in like 89, 88. And then you've thought,
and you've thought, Hey, and so if they're 92, they
have to be under.
Speaker 3 (49:31):
The age of 16. I identify as a child, which
is why I cannot have kids at this point because
I can't, how can I take care of a kid?
I can barely take care of myself. It's insane that
I do.
Speaker 1 (49:40):
We agree with most of what you just said.
Speaker 3 (49:42):
Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh.
Speaker 1 (49:44):
That's true, that's true.
Speaker 5 (49:45):
All right, you just passed the time to call, and
the lines are lit up, but if you want to
sneak in on the line, you can. Guns N' Roses
tickets up for grabs right now.
Speaker 2 (49:54):
They're playing at Snapdragon Stadium in just a week's time
next Wednesday.
Speaker 5 (49:58):
They're going to be on the stage with the Black Crows.
If you want to go 888-570-1015, call or 10, you're going. Man,
this stinks bad. Tim Curry died.
Speaker 3 (50:10):
Ugh.
Speaker 1 (50:10):
That's no good.
Speaker 2 (50:11):
That's no good.
Speaker 5 (50:13):
Rocky Horror Picture Show was one of my mom's favorite
movies ever. He played Frank N. Furter in the Rocky
Horror Picture Show. And I remember the first time she
turned on, I'm like, how? How on earth is this
one of her favorite movies? because I mean, he's in
drag the entire time. He's running around in bright red
(50:35):
lipstick and painted on eyebrows. And he's got this powdered
face like he's a corpse. And then you start listening
to the music and you start watching the theatrics of
all of it.
Speaker 1 (50:50):
And It's intoxicating.
Speaker 5 (50:52):
It's actually a hysterical, thoughtful, emotional movie that I've watched
around my life. And you keep grabbing more and more
of it as you age with it. It's really wonderful.
And he carried the entire movie.
Speaker 2 (51:07):
And then obviously he's appeared in a million other things
and voiceovers. He was Pennywise. He was the first Pennywise.
He scared the crap out of me as a kid.
Speaker 4 (51:16):
He was in Annie. Which my wife liked Annie and
my kids watched it. He was the butler in the
Clue movie? Yeah, that too.
Speaker 3 (51:23):
Charlie's Angels. What was his role there?
Speaker 1 (51:25):
He was an angel.
Speaker 2 (51:26):
Or now he is. He was also like Dolly Parton.
Speaker 1 (51:29):
Also born in 1946.
Speaker 3 (51:29):
He was 80 or something.
Speaker 2 (51:30):
Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3 (51:31):
That's a man.
Speaker 1 (51:36):
It's too young.
Speaker 4 (51:36):
We've got kicked in the nards twice in the last
two days. We lost Frank Beard last week. Is that three?
They say it comes in threes.
Speaker 2 (51:42):
Are we done?
Speaker 1 (51:43):
I hope we're done.
Speaker 2 (51:44):
I swear to God, if Dick Van Dyke's name pops
up on my phone in the next 30 minutes, I'm
going to be pissed.
Speaker 3 (51:50):
DVD?
Speaker 1 (51:50):
Why would you even say that?
Speaker 2 (51:52):
He's 100. Might be older.
Speaker 1 (51:53):
Wow. I think he's a hundo. I think he's sitting
in 100. I thought DVDs came out in the 2000s.
I think you might be right. Man, I'll tell you
right now.
Speaker 3 (52:03):
Um.
Speaker 5 (52:04):
I just had a revisitation of the thought, the mindset
that I was in when I saw this lady filling
up her baby stroller with all the passion fruits from
my bush.
Speaker 1 (52:13):
I was just thinking about it, man.
Speaker 5 (52:15):
I was just thinking about how I just want to
dump out that stroller of all those passion fruits.
Speaker 4 (52:20):
So she left with a stroller full of passion fruits, though.
Speaker 2 (52:23):
So I don't know if they were all from my bush.
In her defense.
Speaker 1 (52:25):
Right, because she had been to a few bushes.
Speaker 5 (52:26):
Yeah, she had been robbing people up and down the
block before she came to my passion fruit bush.
Speaker 2 (52:30):
Rich, I got you covered. Pop open that little thing
of smelling salts right there. Give it a big whiff.
It's the full mental reset.
Speaker 1 (52:37):
That's all you need?
Speaker 2 (52:38):
I did bring these in.
Speaker 1 (52:40):
Now here's the thing.
Speaker 2 (52:40):
Did this just smoke while I shook it?
Speaker 1 (52:42):
No, don't worry about it. That's a good thing.
Speaker 2 (52:44):
That means they're really potent.
Speaker 4 (52:46):
For me, any of that fruit that is on your
bush is your property.
Speaker 3 (52:52):
Oh, my gosh. The smelling salt strike again.
Speaker 2 (52:54):
It's out. Let's ask it this way.
Speaker 1 (52:56):
Matt, can I have a rip?
Speaker 2 (52:59):
It should be and is against.
Speaker 1 (53:01):
The law for her to pick those passion fruit.
Speaker 2 (53:03):
However.
Speaker 1 (53:03):
Is it actually against the law?
Speaker 2 (53:05):
It's his property. It's his property. Hang on.
Speaker 4 (53:07):
I mean.
Speaker 1 (53:08):
That's not good.
Speaker 2 (53:09):
All you did is open the smelling salts. I know.
Speaker 3 (53:11):
I breathed from about two feet away.
Speaker 1 (53:13):
I may have done damage to my right nostril.
Speaker 5 (53:20):
Ammonia smelling salts, by the way, which I might have
just given myself a nosebleed.
Speaker 1 (53:26):
That is not for the faint of heart.
Speaker 3 (53:29):
Does that make you feel a little bit better thinking
about this lady in your bush?
Speaker 2 (53:32):
You know what?
Speaker 1 (53:33):
Fletch was right.
Speaker 2 (53:33):
It was a massive distraction.
Speaker 5 (53:35):
Now, TD, to finish your thought, you were saying it is, in.
Speaker 2 (53:39):
Fact, illegal? Well, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (53:41):
I mean, it's your property, right? It seems like it
would be.
Speaker 3 (53:44):
It's probably like a really low charge because at the
end of the day, who really cares?
Speaker 1 (53:49):
I would care. I'm with you on the principle of it, though.
Speaker 2 (53:53):
Now, I mean, back in the old west times, what
would the punishment be? Being drugged behind a horse. Oh, yeah.
Whop off a hand, at least. Through the streets. Yeah, yeah.
I don't need the smelling salts. I'm passing them my way.
Speaker 1 (54:04):
Yeah, TV doesn't really like the smelling salts.
Speaker 2 (54:06):
No, but it smells like I'm changing a cat box.
Speaker 1 (54:08):
It is very ugly.
Speaker 2 (54:09):
Even they're real deep like, I'm good. I've had plenty
of that.
Speaker 4 (54:13):
What?
Speaker 1 (54:13):
Man, that does nothing for me. Nothing.
Speaker 5 (54:16):
Okay, if the fruit is hanging over my property to
the sidewalk in... I'm going to write San Diego. I'm
going to write San Diego. Is it illegal for someone
to pick it? I'm going to ask one of the
Google AI.
Speaker 2 (54:29):
Here we go.
Speaker 4 (54:29):
Do you have any feeling of, well, I wasn't going
to pick all of it anyways, so it's fine if
she takes some?
Speaker 2 (54:36):
Well, so you know what we do with the fruit
that we can't.
Speaker 1 (54:40):
Possibly, because like I said. You gift it to friends? Yeah,
these vines yield hundreds of fruits.
Speaker 5 (54:44):
So what we do with the leftover passion fruits, we
routinely bring them to the school where our kids go
and we put them in the front office for anybody
to take home with them and they get taken every
single time I'll bring them here to work.
Speaker 1 (54:56):
I'll give them to friends.
Speaker 3 (54:57):
I've never once seen you take any passion fruit here
to work, Reg, and we've never reaped any benefits of
your passion fruit bush.
Speaker 1 (55:04):
I'll bring in a bowl tomorrow. In fact, we'll have
a passion fruit fest.
Speaker 5 (55:09):
As long as this lady who was yelling at me,
I have no idea what language she was yelling at
me in, but who was stealing my passion fruit says,
left something on the.
Speaker 1 (55:18):
Bush for us. There might not be any left.
Speaker 2 (55:21):
Did you know they have a farmer's market every week somewhere?
Speaker 3 (55:24):
Every day of every week.
Speaker 1 (55:26):
My God. What would you do with all that passion fruit?
Too many markets.
Speaker 5 (55:30):
I've got a list of crimes that people commit and
they don't even realize they're committing. So I looked it
up per California's penal code and San Diego County's municipal codes.
Speaker 1 (55:41):
Oh, let's play a game. Who here has committed a crime?
Speaker 4 (55:43):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (55:44):
So if you reach onto somebody's property at all, even
if like, say it's an orange tree, a lemon tree,
a passion fruit bush, whatever it is, Even if it's
up against a property line, as soon as your hand
breaks the invisible barrier, you are committing a crime if
you take anything from that person's property.
Speaker 3 (56:01):
Okay, so you want to be sure that you're sure, Rich,
that the woman that came onto your property to take
things off of your vine.
Speaker 2 (56:10):
Is held accountable.
Speaker 1 (56:11):
And by the way, if she stole $ 250 in value
of passion fruit.
Speaker 2 (56:17):
That is grand theft felony.
Speaker 4 (56:19):
And I would say that you value your passion fruit
at $ 250 a piece.
Speaker 1 (56:23):
Check this out.
Speaker 2 (56:24):
And one cent.
Speaker 1 (56:25):
And one cent. That's right.
Speaker 5 (56:27):
If a bird poops on your neighbor's car and it's
parked in the street and you go over with a
Kleenex and wipe it off to help out your neighbor,
are you committing a crime?
Speaker 2 (56:38):
No. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (56:39):
I mean, probably because you're touching their property.
Speaker 1 (56:43):
What do you think, Fletch?
Speaker 2 (56:43):
I mean, I've never done it. I'm going to say yes.
Speaker 4 (56:46):
Probably goes along vandalism or something weird.
Speaker 3 (56:49):
No.
Speaker 5 (56:50):
If you're doing a surprise favor for your neighbor by
washing their dusty or burr poop covered car as a
nice gesture. In several jurisdictions in Southern California, including San Diego,
you are committing a crime.
Speaker 3 (57:04):
Why?
Speaker 2 (57:04):
Don't touch my car. Yeah, don't touch my car. Hands off. Yeah,
I'm the same way.
Speaker 1 (57:07):
Don't touch my car. You're not allowed to do it.
Speaker 3 (57:09):
But if somebody's doing you a favor.
Speaker 1 (57:10):
Don't touch my car. How about this? How about this?
Speaker 5 (57:12):
Imagine, okay, so your neighbor leaves town, but they put
their trash out.
Speaker 2 (57:18):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (57:18):
Forgot to bring their trash can back in.
Speaker 3 (57:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (57:20):
You pull it onto their property for them.
Speaker 3 (57:22):
Not allowed to do that?
Speaker 1 (57:23):
Was that trespassing? I'm asking if you're committing a crime
or not.
Speaker 3 (57:26):
I think you're not because you're taking it out of
where it's not supposed to be.
Speaker 1 (57:29):
It's taking up a parking spot.
Speaker 4 (57:30):
Yeah, but that's not your property and it's not your
property you're walking on.
Speaker 1 (57:34):
I'm going to say that is a crime.
Speaker 2 (57:36):
Get your feet off my front yard. There we go.
Speaker 1 (57:38):
That's what we're talking about.
Speaker 3 (57:39):
It's trespassing?
Speaker 1 (57:41):
It is a crime.
Speaker 2 (57:42):
What?
Speaker 1 (57:43):
You are not allowed to enter.
Speaker 5 (57:45):
Even if you're doing somebody a favor, you are not
allowed to enter their property whatsoever.
Speaker 2 (57:49):
If these little piggies make their way onto my driveway,
these little piggies need to get their ass kicked.
Speaker 1 (57:53):
Check this out.
Speaker 3 (57:54):
Okay, well then what about solicitors?
Speaker 1 (57:56):
Because they walk onto people's porches all day.
Speaker 5 (57:59):
So you're allowed to walk up to somebody's door and
knock on their door. I mean, you can knock onto
somebody's door, but if you're asked to leave, you must.
Speaker 4 (58:09):
If there's a no solicitor sign posted... You know what?
I don't have that on this list, but I'll look
it up. Trust me, I'm very curious myself.
Speaker 3 (58:15):
I feel like somebody could claim that they didn't see it.
Speaker 1 (58:17):
Check this out. Let's keep it in the trash realm
for a second.
Speaker 3 (58:21):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (58:21):
Somebody rolls their trash can out to the street, and
hanging out of the side of it, there's a dangling,
I don't know, headphone, right?
Speaker 1 (58:32):
And you're like, oh my gosh, you know what? I just...
accidentally lost my.
Speaker 5 (58:36):
Headphones they're throwing their headphones away i'm gonna go grab
those headphones and just check and see if they work
that that cord will fit my phone or my device
are you allowed to take those headphones got it.
Speaker 3 (58:46):
Gotta be theft i'm gonna guess that that's a.
Speaker 2 (58:48):
No it's gotta be my trash can get your grubbies
off of it so check.
Speaker 1 (58:51):
It out i want that to go to the landfill
not in your hands oh my.
Speaker 2 (58:55):
God you can go follow the garbage truck to the
landfill and grab it yeah yeah Well, actually, I'm not
even sure once it's in the junkyard or the landfill
if you can take it. It might be city-owned or
county-owned property at that point, but once a neighbor rolls
their trash cans out to the public curb or sidewalk,
the contents... are garbage, but they are not free for
anybody to rummage through. Per San Diego Municipal Code 66.0127,
(59:18):
it is illegal for anyone other than the property owner
or the authorized city waste haulers to look through, disturb,
or remove items from said trash can. Send me a
copy of that.
Speaker 3 (59:28):
Because I want to put up a sign outside of
my dumpsters because people rummage and pillage them all day long.
Speaker 2 (59:33):
That's why the law's in place.
Speaker 4 (59:34):
Otherwise, you'd have people going from trash can to trash
can looking for stuff all day long.
Speaker 5 (59:39):
They do. They literally do that. You're walking down the
grocery aisle. You're in produce. You see there's just open grapes, right?
They're just sitting there. Are you allowed to pluck one grape?
Speaker 2 (59:50):
No. That's crazy, Tom. All right. That's petty theft. You
have to pay for the entire thing of grapes. Petty
theft by larceny. So you guys got that.
Speaker 1 (59:57):
All right. How about this?
Speaker 5 (59:59):
If you find lost property in a public area, you
pick it up.
Speaker 2 (01:00:05):
You put the property in your pocket. It doesn't matter
what it is.
Speaker 1 (01:00:08):
Like somebody left their phone. Say it's lesser than that.
Speaker 2 (01:00:12):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (01:00:13):
A football is there in the park. Somebody left it.
Speaker 4 (01:00:16):
You grab it. And it's a public space. You pick
it up and you can go home with it. It's
got to go to the police station. It has to
be marked. It has to sit there for 30 days.
After 30 days, you can claim it.
Speaker 1 (01:00:25):
No kidding. Okay. So what do you think?
Speaker 3 (01:00:28):
I'm going to say just because it's on this list,
you're not allowed to do it.
Speaker 1 (01:00:31):
It's illegal.
Speaker 5 (01:00:32):
It is 100% illegal per California Penal Code 485. If
you find lost property under those circumstances and you have
no clues who the owner might be, you do have
to bring it to the police management legally classified as
theft or lost property.
Speaker 4 (01:00:49):
Among all the tributes to Dolly Parton after passing yesterday,
Buckingham Palace gave a royally touching tribute as well.
Speaker 1 (01:00:57):
This morning, the changing of the.
Speaker 4 (01:00:58):
Guard happened at Buckingham Palace, and during the changing of
the guard, the royal band, military band, played the song
9 to 5, and it.
Speaker 1 (01:01:07):
Was super cool. That is so nice.
Speaker 2 (01:01:11):
Once in a while, the English do something cool, and
I have to give them a high five. Honestly, the
English actually have a lot of respect for America, which
is kind of cool, because I was just there.
Speaker 1 (01:01:19):
I watched the changing of the guards happen.
Speaker 2 (01:01:21):
But in St. Paul's Cathedral, which is right next door.
They have an entire book, and that book is full
of 28,000 American soldiers' names who didn't make it back
home from World War II.
Speaker 1 (01:01:33):
That is super awesome, too.
Speaker 2 (01:01:34):
And so private citizens, because St. Paul's Cathedral got blown
to smithereens during World War II, private citizens reconstructed part
of it and said, we want to dedicate this to
the 28,000 Americans who helped save our city. Wow.
Speaker 1 (01:01:46):
That is cool. I do like that a lot.
Speaker 4 (01:01:48):
What's not cool, we heard about it in the Fletch Zone,
but Mason Miller allowed his first home run in more
than a year. The Padres fell to the Pirates yesterday,
won nothing. They've lost two in a row now. If
they lose, they play again.
Speaker 2 (01:02:00):
Tonight, right? Today, this afternoon. Oh, it's a getaway day?
Day game at Petco Park, yeah. If they lose today,
that's a streak, guys. That would be a sweep from
the Pittsburgh Pirates who are like nine games below the Padres.
Speaker 5 (01:02:11):
I was going to say, when you look at the
NL standings where the Pirates are and the San Diego
Padres are and the different trajectories that we're thinking about
in terms of these two franchises this season... It would
be not unseemly, but it wouldn't be good timing to
have a sweep to a team like this.
Speaker 2 (01:02:28):
It's because of what's happening around them. The Diamondbacks had
another come from behind victory last night. The Diamondbacks are
only one game behind you. I'll throw a pop quiz
out there. Who do you think the last three games
of the Padres season are against? Was it the Pirates?
It would be the Arizona Diamondbacks who are right behind
the Padres.
Speaker 1 (01:02:44):
Against the law.
Speaker 2 (01:02:49):
No, it's the Diamondbacks.
Speaker 1 (01:02:49):
Oh, I thought we were still going. California Punicle 45.
Speaker 2 (01:02:52):
In fact, the last six games of the Padres season
are three against the Dodgers, three against the Diamondbacks. Ah, sweet.
That's cool. That's cool.
Speaker 4 (01:02:59):
A recent report found that 56% of U.S. travelers want
a retreat that is quiet. They're actually calling them quiet-cations.
The Google searches for quiet destinations have increased 1,268% in
the last year. So they're very, very popular. Now, this
(01:03:20):
study ranked the top-rated destinations in the world for quiet-cations.
And right here in Southern California... One comes in at
number 10.
Speaker 2 (01:03:29):
Ooh.
Speaker 1 (01:03:29):
Big Bear.
Speaker 2 (01:03:30):
Not Big Bear. Julian.
Speaker 4 (01:03:32):
Julian.
Speaker 2 (01:03:32):
Not Julian. Okay.
Speaker 1 (01:03:34):
I'm going to say that. Where else is quiet?
Speaker 2 (01:03:36):
Arrowhead?
Speaker 1 (01:03:36):
That Bavarian town. That's probably not quiet.
Speaker 2 (01:03:41):
Catalina of what you're going to say. Catalina. The Bavarian
town of Catalina. That's the one. That's the one.
Speaker 1 (01:03:48):
I will say, though, Catalina. The Catalina pretzel.
Speaker 3 (01:03:51):
The main area of Catalina is not quiet. There's like
too many people for how small that little town is.
Speaker 1 (01:03:58):
I have been to Catalina. I don't know what you
do after about an hour.
Speaker 3 (01:04:01):
Well, you go hiking.
Speaker 2 (01:04:02):
What's the town called?
Speaker 1 (01:04:03):
I'll tell you what you do.
Speaker 3 (01:04:05):
Shh.
Speaker 4 (01:04:06):
Shh. It's quiet.
Speaker 2 (01:04:06):
We're having a quietcation.
Speaker 3 (01:04:07):
You can have a quietcation there if you hike the
Trans-Catalina Trail, the TCT, like I did. Then you get
out miles away from everybody.
Speaker 2 (01:04:16):
Horrible.
Speaker 1 (01:04:16):
That's awesome.
Speaker 2 (01:04:17):
It was awesome.
Speaker 4 (01:04:18):
I did rent a golf cart. I drove around the island.
Speaker 1 (01:04:21):
I did that, too.
Speaker 2 (01:04:22):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (01:04:22):
And then I rented a little dinghy.
Speaker 4 (01:04:24):
And they said, don't take it out of the harbor.
Speaker 2 (01:04:25):
And I said, okay. Vroom.
Speaker 1 (01:04:28):
Yeah, Annie was like eight months pregnant.
Speaker 5 (01:04:30):
The first and only time I've been to Catalina Island
and we drove around in that golf cart and she goes...
My water's going to break if you don't slow down.
We hit every bump.
Speaker 3 (01:04:42):
Can you imagine our water breaks and then you still
have to get on the ferry back?
Speaker 2 (01:04:45):
I mean, Sebastian would have been, or I guess it
was Ty. Ty would have been born on the ferry. Man,
that would have been crazy.
Speaker 4 (01:04:52):
But it would have been a nice drive back, a
little over an hour.
Speaker 2 (01:04:54):
Maybe you'd see some dolphins.
Speaker 1 (01:04:55):
Yeah, that's a good point. It'd be worth it.
Speaker 2 (01:04:58):
Totally worth it.
Speaker 5 (01:04:58):
Name after the first whale we spot.
Speaker 1 (01:05:02):
Sperm Ornberg. Good God.
Speaker 2 (01:05:05):
Thanks.
Speaker 4 (01:05:06):
Breathe.
Speaker 1 (01:05:11):
That was captured yesterday. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:05:14):
I did sound like a whale for some reason. There
it is.
Speaker 1 (01:05:18):
You're just thinking about something. I'll tell you right now.
Speaker 2 (01:05:21):
Deep in thought. Yeah, there's no doubt. When you said Sebastian,
I thought you saw a crab.
Speaker 1 (01:05:27):
That's a little mermaid joke. On a Wednesday? Yeah, you know. Careful,
cat might steal your voice.
Speaker 2 (01:05:34):
It's like the original cover of the VHS.
Speaker 1 (01:05:38):
It's just the tip with Big Rich.
Speaker 2 (01:05:40):
Man, I am so glad to give you a little
advice that I like to slide.
Speaker 1 (01:05:45):
Out your way. It's yours for the taking if you
want it. If not, push it back this way. No harm,
no foul.
Speaker 2 (01:05:50):
It's just the tip with Big Rich. And today's advice
is when you don't want to do the dirty work,
put somebody up to the task for you.
Speaker 5 (01:05:57):
So Kat was just talking about, I don't know, a
grievance that she wanted. And it sounded like, or actually, no,
I think it started with TD.
Speaker 1 (01:06:06):
He brought it up first.
Speaker 5 (01:06:08):
And then we kind of hyped up Kat to be
the one who's going to go through the wall.
Speaker 1 (01:06:13):
And do something about it.
Speaker 2 (01:06:14):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:06:16):
She's going to go talk to someone. And we were like, oh, yeah, Kat,
you're perfectly suited for that. And you're going to, man,
you're going to tell them what's what. And we're going
to be right there to hear the story after that.
Speaker 3 (01:06:26):
Yeah, you guys are not going to be behind me.
Speaker 2 (01:06:27):
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Speaker 1 (01:06:29):
Because it's better if you do this privately. I mean, metaphorically,
we support you.
Speaker 2 (01:06:33):
We are behind you. But we won't be there.
Speaker 4 (01:06:35):
We did say if you could have a camera recording it,
just maybe in your pocket, we would like to hear
the interaction afterwards.
Speaker 1 (01:06:41):
Now, so this grievance. It's a small, it's nothing.
Speaker 5 (01:06:46):
It's a nothing thing, but it was kind of halfway
generated by you.
Speaker 1 (01:06:50):
You're like, no, I can, you know what?
Speaker 5 (01:06:52):
I could go and just share a piece of my
mind and see what happens next.
Speaker 2 (01:06:57):
And we're like, oh, yeah. You should do that.
Speaker 3 (01:07:02):
The more that I think about it, though, it's not.
Speaker 1 (01:07:04):
Really our business. If she can't do it, no one can.
Speaker 3 (01:07:06):
Come on.
Speaker 1 (01:07:07):
It's not really our business. I mean, at the end
of the day, who cares?
Speaker 2 (01:07:10):
When has that stopped us?
Speaker 1 (01:07:13):
Especially you, Kat. I mean, you literally.
You literally stalked my address. I didn't.
Speaker 3 (01:07:22):
My cousin knew where you live because you gave her
your address, Rich. And I said, let's stop by Rich's
on this golf cart.
Speaker 1 (01:07:29):
You literally.
Speaker 2 (01:07:31):
put on a wig and then spied on your cousin
on dates. Reverse.
Speaker 3 (01:07:36):
Put on a wig and spied on me when I
was on a date or three. All right.
Speaker 5 (01:07:41):
Well, I do think that you can hop into others'
business sometimes.
Speaker 1 (01:07:46):
And I do think that this is a time that
calls for it.
Speaker 3 (01:07:48):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (01:07:49):
And so we are cheering you on from the sidelines.
Speaker 1 (01:07:51):
Go do it now. Maybe we'll be in the dugout.
Go do it right now. Maybe even at home waiting
for your call. You should do it right now.
Speaker 5 (01:07:56):
Uh, one on one five KGB actually, uh, temple of
the dog. Chris Cornell, uh, was the lead singer for
that band. He, uh, him and, uh, Eddie Vedder.
Speaker 2 (01:08:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:08:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:08:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:08:08):
A little tribute band to mother love bone. Dual leads.
Speaker 5 (01:08:11):
Chris Cornell, no longer with us. Didn't you say that?
Is it audio slave is going to be playing sound
garden is going to be playing.
Speaker 3 (01:08:20):
The home opener of the Seahawks game, which is in
a couple of weeks.
Speaker 2 (01:08:24):
This weekend? It doesn't feel like Soundgarden.
Speaker 1 (01:08:26):
A couple weeks, I think.
Speaker 2 (01:08:27):
Two weeks from today?
Speaker 1 (01:08:29):
It doesn't sound like Soundgarden.
Speaker 2 (01:08:30):
Oh. It's going to be on Wednesday night. No, no, no, no.
Speaker 1 (01:08:35):
Anyways, that's all we got for you, gang. Big Rich
TDM Fletch.
Speaker 2 (01:08:58):
Thank you.
Speaker 3 (01:09:04):
Bye, Mom.
Speaker 2 (01:09:05):
Bye. See you later.
Speaker 3 (01:09:06):
I'll pick you up at a quarter to three.
Speaker 4 (01:09:08):
Okay, bye.
Speaker 2 (01:09:10):
You keep using that word. I don't think it means
what you think it means.
