Speaker 1 (00:00):
I've only been to kay Sport. It's been all bright.
Nick Ferguson, filling in for Dave Logan Ryan Edwards today.
Grant Smith, the mustache man back there producing though it
is officially March madness, as the NCAA tournament has kicked
off or tipped off in this particular case, as it were,
And uh, your bracket already busted. Nick, Okay, no it's not,

(00:21):
because this sounds like excuse making right off the top
of the show.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Wait a minute, you asked me a question you didn't
even me, says the answer.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
You're talking to Benjamin all right right now, not Tony
or anybody else, just saying, so I'm watching you know
that has been right. I do know. I came in
let me dead in the face, and didn't realize it
was me. Look where you were sitting. I sat in
a different chair, you set in a different chair. All
white people look the same. Right, your head was down.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
So I couldn't see you, right. So I always saw Mandy,
and I always saw that was it.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
I mean Grant's mustache, to be fair, is he's probably
the most iconic thing in this building right now. Man,
you should have.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
Seen I thought I was unique having a mustache these
days down at the March Madness games.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
At Ball Arena. Dude, you started a trend, man, just
like the both your trend center.

Speaker 4 (01:11):
I'm just saying.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
But anyway, back to your bracket. I did. I did
have a minor hiccup there with with Louisville Orarly, but
I haven't losing the next rounds. No busting on the
bracket yet.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
Well, watching the Clemson McNeese game, I did not anticipate
this particular outcome.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
Clemson sucking.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
Yes, I mean usually there's always the center of the
team that you know this shocks people.

Speaker 4 (01:35):
But I didn't expect this.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
And it's not just because Clemsond is from the ACC,
but he just I just looked.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
At McNeese as being somewhat.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Of an inferior team if I can, you know, look
at it that way, and that comeson would elevate their
level of play. But no, it's it's not so brackets
not bush yet. There's still some time in this game.
But I didn't look a pretty No, it's not five
six sex.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
I want to hear from you guys, anything you got
going on bracket busting, all that kind of stuff got
a big show today. Susie Wargon got to join this
a little bit later on. We've got the KWAE news
teams down there at Ball Arena. We'll check in with
our KWAI News staff down there Atallerriina obviously. Grant rolling
around just flexing live credential, March Madness credentially, just rolling
around like I.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
Just just have it on so I don't lose it
when I go back down there.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
He's bragging about going back down there tonight.

Speaker 4 (02:29):
I mean you can actually take it off.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
You don't have the flood and in our face flexing. Yes,
I'd like to brub that in. I can't point so well.
I we'll check in with, like I said, with k
News team down there Atollerina here a little while. Obviously,
we'll check in with uh Sissie Warton a little bit
later as well. How much March Madness do you guys watch?
Like opening this is technically opening day even though they've
had the playing games. How much March Madness do is it?

(02:52):
Just you just click it on from the first tip
off and you're leaving it.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
You got multi TV's going all day long in the
Grant Smith Cave, I get my TV out of my office.
I move it beside my TV in the living room
so I can make sure I have two games on
at a time. Hopefully they mash up so halftime of
one game I can catch another.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
I'm all in on March Madness.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
I'm my grant and now that you can get the
streaming apps on your phone, so as soon as you
leave the house, just so happens. I'm not saying that
it happened to me. At the point where your wife
is like, hey, I need you to go to Costco
to get a couple of things, and I'm just saying, like,
I may sit in a car a little longer, you know,

(03:30):
before actually walking in to Costco, because I want to
cass the last minutes of the game. I'm not saying
that it happened to me, but I'm just saying you've
heard about it. I heard about it.

Speaker 4 (03:37):
Nick.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
Well, what Nick is not telling you is that he
has like the nine computers set up from Swordfish in
his office where he's got every game and he's got
multiple angles of the same game going on at the
same time. I mean, I do I kind of leave
it on in the background and I'll check back in
I'm not glued to every minute of it, but as
the day wears on, I start to get more dialed in.

(04:00):
We're not saying that my attention span is directly correlated
with the number of beers I've consumed at that point,
but I'm not not saying it.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
But you know what I think it has been, like
the almost the greatest breakthrough in television technology is the
fact that you can go like.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
Eight screens, right, like, well, we don't all have Nick
ferguson bar Oh wow, you got it.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
I mean follows you have multiviews' yes, no, that's but
the whole idea is that it has changed our viewing
pleasure because remember growing up as a kid something Grant
doesn't you know. Recall there was just one television, so

(04:45):
there were like like multiviews. I mean you just had
to switch back and forth from television television. But now
there has they have multiviews because it's on tn T.
You got it on True TV.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
I have to True TV. What channel?

Speaker 4 (05:00):
Every time?

Speaker 1 (05:01):
March Madness? I got, yeah, I get those streaming things.
So I just you know, the March Madness and then
multi created you know, like like.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
I'm sure that's probably when two TVs. Uh television viewership
actually spikes.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
Yeah, during March the one time people requested right now,
light on the dish, right now you get just search
for the game and then you'll take you to the channel.
Man like you have to do this like a poor
and scroll through the channels. This controller barely works. Comes
up behind the scenes that I heard you're saying, like
you know, you beats back in the day when when
Nick and I were kids, you had to you know,

(05:33):
we were the channel changer we had. You had to
run up there. You're the click thing you get through
to the to the other channel.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
Yes, how about that grant, You actually had to get
up from your seat.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
Remember these days? Oh you recall these days. You're watching
TV on a box the size of a refrigerator, but
the screen was.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
The size of the post and weighed three thousand pounds.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
Yes, yes, you try to move. You never moved. You
had to move a television back in the day.

Speaker 4 (05:58):
No, no, never try to do that.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
I must leave it, you have. The televisions are left
in places not worth it, not worth it.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
My girl had one with it was like a three
and one like it had the television and speakers on
the side.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
It had like a record player on the top, the
turntable at the top. Yes, in a little simulated wood.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
Grain on the side.

Speaker 1 (06:21):
Talking about dirty plastic little knob. You had to change one,
said U A champ, One said V A champ, And
God forbid did the knob break off? And you just
you had to live. You had the little flyer thing
on there, and yes, pliers.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
Did you guys ever have to take this may just
be a small sound, actually have to take your TV
to like a TV repair shop.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
Yes, I'm strong enough to pick that thing up. But
we waited as much as a buick.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
Well that whole console, like Brandon saying, it was like
a refrigerator. But if you had that that seventeen in
black and white, yes, of course you know it blows.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
Into seventeen big money. In the Ferguson household, we were
a thirteen in family. Yes, this is ninety twelve inch
family here we all like you look back. It's so
funny now because you look back at those. Somebody had
one the other day and was like showing did a
YouTube vide where they were showing the disparity, like how
did we even different? Was like, how did we see
what was happening on these screens? I had no idea?

(07:18):
Then we did you move the flat screens?

Speaker 3 (07:19):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (07:20):
Yeah, it just everything.

Speaker 3 (07:22):
Imagine watching like tennis or hockey or soccer nowadays on
one of those TVs.

Speaker 1 (07:27):
You wouldn't be able to follow the ball.

Speaker 4 (07:29):
Or the puck.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
Yeah, I mean like you could be like, that's the thing.
They had the thing on this this YouTube video. You
could barely see.

Speaker 4 (07:33):
Anything, and I'm like, how did we think?

Speaker 1 (07:35):
How did we think we were watching something?

Speaker 4 (07:38):
Boy?

Speaker 2 (07:38):
Look consider this, like think about whether it was a
thirteen in seventeen inch you couldn't really see too far
to the left for the right, and when they went
wide screens with the flat screen, now you're like, oh, wow,
now I know what's happening on the upside of the
side of the fence because now I can actually see it,
because before you couldn't see it.

Speaker 4 (07:54):
You had no idea.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
Yeah, it's just it was something like looking back on
that now, looking back on some of that stuff that
we came up with. It came up on I'm like,
how did we We were convinced we were watching something
and man, you could barely see it. You could barely
see it. But you know what about these March Madness games?

Speaker 2 (08:13):
The first thing I think, because obviously for me not
feeling out a bracket, but the disappointment if I do
when teams that I hoped to win didn't win. But
the first thought was what happens to those hardcore people
who love to make wagers?

Speaker 1 (08:29):
Are you talking? You're looking directly at me right now.
We all know I'm a degenerate. I mean, it's just
when I say that, we all know I'm a degenerate.
There's there's there's no that's not a secret to anyone
who listens to.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
That happens when someone puts a high wager on all
of these games, or a couple of games in particular,
and they lose that level of disappointment.

Speaker 4 (08:51):
Yeah, I guess.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
I mean, you know, now, well I have a system
cambling problem.

Speaker 4 (09:00):
Set him up for it.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
I mean, you know, I mean, everybody's got their own
thing as far as that custom. Yeah, I guess I'm
disappointed when I lose. For me, it's I mean, but
I don't even want to lose money on it. I'm
not like, you know, if desponded, like, all right, I
missed that one, I'll get the next one.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
You know, I don't have any money involved in it,
but I don't even care about my bracket. I want
the underdog to win every single time because the story
just makes it that much better.

Speaker 1 (09:24):
Like, I don't care.

Speaker 3 (09:24):
About my bracket whatever we do, like ten bucks twenty
bucks on the four brackets of the pools I'm in,
but I don't care.

Speaker 1 (09:31):
I'll rip up my bracket to see an underdog win.
Like you were, well, I mean, and you have a
personal connection to it, I guess. But you were a
big fan of the when Dunk City was going on. Yeah, man,
Jase Feeler, Yeah, because you have a personal connection to
my buddy growing up.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
Yeah, former guest of the Taking It for Granted podcasts,
And uh yeah, every year when this time rolls around,
they show the Dunk City highlights and I just remember
sitting at my college door watching how that's.

Speaker 1 (09:55):
My boy I told of that move.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
I couldn't even am imagine having an Elite eight or
even a Final four with a bunch of Cinderella teams,
Like that's when dealship would actually go down.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
Right. You need the you need the blue is one
of the blue bloods in there. You can still have
a Cinderella. You need to at least two. Well, I mean,
I'm saying people still tune into the event. I mean
you have certain fan bases to show up into ten,
certain things or whatever else. But man, there's that old
David versus Goliath thing that works every time, you know,
and that's what happens. If you're not a fan of

(10:30):
the team that's Goliath, you're rooting for David Gere kidding me.
VCU that year was Shaka Smart.

Speaker 4 (10:37):
Yeah, yeah, I mean.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
You root for those individual teams at the beginning of
the tournament because we know something wild and crazy is
gonna happen. But once you get to the I guess
Elite eight or the Sweet sixteen, No, I'm not rooting
for one of those mid major teams.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
See that Bryce Drew a shot.

Speaker 4 (11:04):
And then what happened.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
With Price Drew. He had a couple of coffee in
the league. That's about it.

Speaker 3 (11:09):
And we'll be at basketball legend in college forever.

Speaker 1 (11:13):
As I say, there's a lot of guys that are
you know, and Bryce Drew's coaches out here at Grand Canyon,
do't he No, he used to.

Speaker 3 (11:20):
I don't know if he's still there, but Grand Canyon
in the tournament again this, Yeah, I'm pretty sure it does.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
It's great to see those teams win their conferences and
puss their ticket to the dance, right, and it's all
fun and games at the beginning of it. You know,
everyone is happy, you know, everyone's going dancing. But then
to me, then you get to the nuts and the
bolts of things, man, And this when you try to separate,
you know, the top tier teams from the bottom level teams.

Speaker 1 (11:48):
See, I love I love those stories because then you
get to know players that you otherwise wouldn't know when
they're a star. And it's funny because one of those guys,
and he wasn't really anonymous because his brother's dad, but
Steph Curry Davidson, Yeah, you know carrying Carrie the interesting.
Oh he's too small, he's too skinny, you know, but
he's out there putting on a clinic in the tournament.

Speaker 3 (12:07):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
You got all these guys that become stars at least
for those minute. Now Curry transceated that obviously to leave it.
You guys remember Omar Samhan from Saint Mary's Yeah, six eleven,
I mean, you know, uh.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
For those damn God, but become like those stories.

Speaker 4 (12:19):
Are great for the first round, the opening rounds.

Speaker 2 (12:22):
Those stories are great because they give every broadcaster and
CBS and True TV and opportunity to talk about these
players and these programs that don't ordinarily get that type
of pump. But after that first round, if I'm watching it,
I want to watch the.

Speaker 4 (12:38):
Lead of the lead.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
That's what almost I disagree. I'm here for the I'm
here for the Davids. You're all here for the day.
Come on the dream scenario in the final four.

Speaker 3 (12:47):
Two blue bloods, one midge mid major that has a
good basketball program, and one true Cinderella's story.

Speaker 1 (12:54):
That's the dream.

Speaker 4 (12:55):
I'll dig that. I'll take that.

Speaker 1 (12:56):
Yeah, you want, but you want that, you want something
to didn't believe it because and everybody loves that, because
that's Isn't that the American dream? Right that that anybody
can rise up and win any time.

Speaker 4 (13:06):
That's not the American dream.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
I mean the text line is sweating you. Hear Nick, Nick,
you were an underdog? How can you not root for
the underdog? I didn't say I wouldn't root for the underdog.
I root for the underdog. In the first round. I
give them they just do.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
That's their opportunity, right, And you know you said the
American dream, How did you classify the American dream that.

Speaker 1 (13:28):
Anybody can rise up at any time and then conquer
all from zero to euro The American dream is we
crush your dreams.

Speaker 2 (13:36):
We crushed them all like Doug Datas and the sky
will see.

Speaker 1 (13:39):
You wrote it for the Empire in that movie. See
how it is furg out here, like they start playing
the Imperial Marches, agains what jam?

Speaker 2 (13:48):
But just think about it, because it seemed like, okay,
a center of the team. It gives a lot of hope,
a lot of hopes to a lot of mid majors
and other center all the teams that didn't have talent
to persevere and get to that point. But it becomes
so crushing, right because I feel bad for those dudes

(14:08):
who get to that point and you just see like
grown men cry. It's just tough watching these guys go
through all those tears, and it's just like, you know what,
instead of putting them through that pain, to just deal
with them early.

Speaker 3 (14:22):
See, I think that's beautiful, man, because most of those
guys know that this is the end.

Speaker 1 (14:26):
Yeah, you got lucky, man. You got to I mean,
and I say lucky, I mean it was hard work,
but you got to you got to go to the league.

Speaker 4 (14:32):
For some of us, you.

Speaker 1 (14:33):
Know, our dream ended a lot earlier than that.

Speaker 4 (14:35):
I'm not saying this though. It's not great to dream,
it's not.

Speaker 2 (14:39):
But because I've been in I've been in this situation
where I've had my dreams crust like five or six times.

Speaker 4 (14:47):
Man.

Speaker 2 (14:47):
You know, you know that is very difficult to pick
your face up off the ground and keep moving forward.
I mean, that's why I'm happy for the individuals who
get to that point.

Speaker 4 (14:58):
But once we start getting to that where you want to.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
See elite basketball, to me, that's where for me, I
want the cream rises to the top.

Speaker 4 (15:07):
That's all I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (15:08):
I'm all for a team that's on a hot streak
playing against the team that's playing elite basketball. You know,
I came up by the the you know, during my
appreciation for college basketball really started around like the Nolan
Richardson Forty Minutes of Hell era, you know, like where
they were street fighting basketball teams that were playing traditional basketball.

Speaker 4 (15:27):
You know, that was like the Archists.

Speaker 1 (15:29):
I was like the first transition basketball team out there.
It was successful.

Speaker 2 (15:33):
So so let me ask both of you guys and
listen to chime in on this.

Speaker 4 (15:36):
If you want to.

Speaker 2 (15:37):
When you watch some of these games, do you like
more of the teams that have that up and down
pace or that team that just wants to push the
ball up the court and get into a half court set.

Speaker 1 (15:49):
I like it. I like the variety. I like seeing
the different styles square off against you. It's like we
were having the soccer conversation a couple weeks ago where
I was talking about that one soccer match where you
had two totally disparate styles or playing. I like to
see in two wildly different styles of basketball player and
who could force the other one to play in their
style of ball.

Speaker 3 (16:05):
I love seeing the small schools that just run and gun,
and you know, if they have a hot night, they
got a chance to pull off that upset. But I
also love the mismatch. You know, they're the game tonight
at ball Arena San Diego. You see San Diego and Michigan.
The tallest player on San Diego's team of six'. Eight
michigan has two seven foot one dudes and their starting,
lineup how are they going to try and defend those

(16:26):
guys with all these little guys that playing defense like
that stuff is so interesting to me.

Speaker 1 (16:30):
Too but that's why.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
Once, again at the beginning of the, tournament we have
all these kind.

Speaker 4 (16:37):
Of different philosophies kind.

Speaker 2 (16:40):
Of engaging one, another and this is where we see great.

Speaker 1 (16:45):
Competition TEXTLL i.

Speaker 4 (16:46):
Hate you right.

Speaker 1 (16:47):
Now you're being accused of rooting For Apollo creed in
the First rocky. Movie WHOA i Mean ago?

Speaker 4 (16:56):
Fan, WELL i Mean i'll say.

Speaker 2 (16:59):
YES i mean who didn't root for A Paula creed
in The rocky?

Speaker 4 (17:03):
Movie who didn't root For? Drago you know?

Speaker 1 (17:05):
Why because we knew what was gonna happen in the.

Speaker 2 (17:07):
End, Right rocky was gonna go through a trading montage
and then he was gonna come back in the late.

Speaker 1 (17:12):
Rounds underdog classic underdog story In.

Speaker 4 (17:16):
ROCKY i think it was Rock nick three For Global
jim And.

Speaker 1 (17:18):
Dosball nobody makes me blood.

Speaker 2 (17:22):
Because the think about, it every protagonist needs an. Antagonist
those are the basic principles of.

Speaker 4 (17:30):
Any movie that we.

Speaker 1 (17:31):
Watch that's how our whole show. Existed i'm antagonist, Exactly
so why are you?

Speaker 4 (17:37):
Complaining and, listener that's.

Speaker 1 (17:39):
All that's All i'm.

Speaker 2 (17:40):
SAYING i, mean every hero needs a, villain right because
that's how the hero comes back to just save victory
from the jaws of.

Speaker 1 (17:49):
Defeat we Loved, underdog but you're rooting for the villain
at the. Beginning nex's a huge fan Of Lex. Corp
you've been hanging out, With Comrade.

Speaker 2 (17:59):
Edwards i'm just, saying don't act as though we haven't
seen this movie before you go what's gonna?

Speaker 1 (18:06):
Happen, Textall just Comrade ferguson not rooting For Roddalen edwards's
gonna be off the hook after this man five six
sixty zeros of Text Line Big. Show, today we get
To Suji warden coming up a little. Bit we'll go
out to the ball arena check in with the Can't
We news team out there as. WELL i want to
hear about you, guys your. Brags who's the biggest underdog
you got going the farthest uh in this? One who's

(18:26):
that's the most surprising? Underdog it's ever. One it doesn't
have to necessarily be an. Underdog but somebody you thought
was an UNDERDA i, mean Obviously miracle On, icey everybody
thought they were you, know they were an, Underdog but.

Speaker 4 (18:36):
Who's in your?

Speaker 1 (18:36):
Lifetime what's the? One can you remember a sporting? Event we're,
like huh they? Won wasn't it a couple of years?

Speaker 2 (18:42):
AGO i, think If i'm not, mistaken iona uh one
in the. Tournament they may have advanced to maybe the sweet.
Sixteen If i'm not, mistaken.

Speaker 4 (18:52):
It was one of. Those UH.

Speaker 1 (18:55):
I don't Like gales right because that's To. Chicago If
i'm not, mistaken is that In New? York, Okay i'm pretty.
Sure so, anyway it was a school like that that
kind of advanced.

Speaker 2 (19:07):
And no one anticipated them getting to that. Point and
it might not have been the sweet, sixteen but they
played great. Basketball they had great periventer. Shooting that was
the thing that kind of kept them In and obviously
at the end Of march, Madness, well what what's?

Speaker 4 (19:23):
This what's the? Highlight? Reil what is?

Speaker 2 (19:26):
It?

Speaker 4 (19:26):
One one shining? Moment?

Speaker 1 (19:27):
Yeah is it? One they have one in a? While
you're thinking Of. Loyola, yeah BECAUSE i.

Speaker 2 (19:33):
Was like YEARS i knew it was one of.

Speaker 1 (19:39):
THOSE i was, like wait a, minute, YEAH i had
one since way.

Speaker 4 (19:44):
Back.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
Now, now those are the types of things that get
you fired up because the, storylines and you go throughout
the basketball team and they're kind of intricate stories about these.

Speaker 4 (19:54):
Players the coach he had been fired three.

Speaker 2 (19:57):
Times he finally gets his team to the day and
they perform well and they win their first. Game those
are the powerful stories that that make me continue to.

Speaker 1 (20:08):
Watch so why can't they keep? Winning?

Speaker 4 (20:09):
Nick?

Speaker 1 (20:09):
Why why do you hate sustained? Success why do you
hate to come? UP i don't hate to come. Up
but we all know what's gonna. Happen we've seen this.
Movie it's not an m night shayamalov.

Speaker 4 (20:20):
Ending we know what's gonna.

Speaker 2 (20:21):
Happen They stende roller team wins a, game and then
all of a sudden that second game they get tossed
and they get put in the montage at at the, End,
right some guy two seconds on the, clock he shoots
a buzzer beat it from half?

Speaker 4 (20:34):
Court switch, Right, yes.

Speaker 1 (20:36):
That's they focusing out here rooting For voldemort And Harry potter.
Stuff can't we sports be?

Speaker 3 (20:41):
Back?

Speaker 1 (20:41):
Right for? This i'm describing his really interest in the
mon stars in the Movie Space champion.

Speaker 2 (20:54):
Text, line Even Bill murray, said, hey whoa, HEY i
don't play.

Speaker 1 (20:58):
Defense lord six was A TIChE simon's all My Nick
ferguson in here filling in For Ryan edwards And Dave
logan out on assignment today on the first day Of March. Madness,
Stam it's weird how that came. About funny how that stuff.
Happens to see a lot of other stuff to get.
To we'll get down To Keenan. Dixon who's dinner at

(21:20):
Ball arena here around four to Thirty. East Susie warden
live From seattle for THE csu Game get To hurt
about five. Thirty Denbor broncos signed a, Punter Matt, hack
to a veteran minimum. Contract, obviously that fills the void
at punter and left By Riley dixon is now In.
Tampa hack hasn't been a starting punter since twenty twenty.
Two are you worried at all that moving From Riley

(21:41):
dixon To Matt hack or do you think that that
is a non? Factor are we talking too much about punters?

Speaker 2 (21:46):
ALREADY i you, KNOW i would saying it's somewhat of
a non factor until it becomes a, Problem and it
only becomes a problem when you have multiple blocked.

Speaker 4 (21:57):
Punts but because the air is so thick in.

Speaker 2 (22:00):
Here this is like a kicker's, paradise if you, will
and had what.

Speaker 4 (22:05):
All the only thing that he needs to do is.

Speaker 2 (22:07):
Can he put the ball in the tight spaces like
how we look at quarterbacks because they're gonna look for
had to be somewhat of a directional punter to kind
of shorten portions of the field to allow the cover
team to get. Down and as long as he has
multiple kicks throughout the season inside the, twenty he's.

Speaker 1 (22:27):
Okay no one's worried about, it because really this would
be totally.

Speaker 2 (22:30):
Honest are we concerned about the kicker actually missing or
making a?

Speaker 4 (22:34):
Tackle i'll say.

Speaker 1 (22:35):
No, WELL i mean The broncos are team the. Puncil
they were the Third we were the third largest punting
team last year in THE. Nfl we had the third
most punt.

Speaker 2 (22:42):
Tips but see The broncos not getting a guy that
has a big. Name what they're telling us by Signing
hack is they don't plan on punting that.

Speaker 4 (22:53):
Often you know.

Speaker 1 (22:54):
Plans everybody got a plan until you punched in the. Mouth,
yes of, course mean you could be a bad punner
without geting Block Cordless weightman in twenty twenty, two it
was a terrible. Punter he didn't have a single punt.
Block well heting, replaced was, It Sam?

Speaker 4 (23:08):
Martin? YES i believe.

Speaker 2 (23:09):
So so then you look at, okay are you putting
your ball inside the twenty and what's the registered hang? Time,
right that's kind of what you're looking.

Speaker 1 (23:19):
For.

Speaker 2 (23:19):
Now you're not looking for a guy who's going to
punt the ball and the ball only goes like twenty.

Speaker 5 (23:24):
Yards, no, no, no you. Don't you don't want, That so
you want. THAT i am available, here. Guys if you're
looking for somebody who's washed and never, WAS i am. Right,
YEAH i can get twenty yards a punt for you.

Speaker 2 (23:36):
Guys i'll take that, Too but flip the. Field this
is not a huge concern for The Denver broncos because
they plan on their offense being a lot different than
they were last. Year so because of, THAT i, mean
do you need a guy with an average? Leg?

Speaker 4 (23:53):
Yes does he need to have a boom? Leg?

Speaker 2 (23:55):
No do you want actresses as far as having a
direct direction to?

Speaker 4 (23:59):
Putter?

Speaker 2 (24:00):
Absolutely so this is kind of a non.

Speaker 1 (24:04):
Conversation, now if there's multiple.

Speaker 2 (24:06):
Games where we have punts getting, blocked that's not gonna
be on the. Punter right, now we're gonna start talking
About Darren. Rizzy are they teaching up? Front but for
the moment now been, no it's not a non topic for.

Speaker 1 (24:18):
Me the text line seems to, agree although they, say
how about a plan for few or three and outs
since we were punting so?

Speaker 4 (24:25):
Much, well there is a plan for a fewer three and.

Speaker 2 (24:29):
Outs The broncos are working on the way to ensure
that they get out to a faster, start that they
don't have to worry, about you, know third.

Speaker 4 (24:40):
And, fifteen which was so.

Speaker 2 (24:42):
Difficult there's not a single head coach in the, game
college or, pros Even darren to say high school football
that has a play that's third and.

Speaker 4 (24:53):
Fifteen don't you don't have a consistent?

Speaker 1 (24:56):
Play, well don't getting third and? Fifteen then you have
to worry about thirty. Days that's the.

Speaker 4 (25:00):
Point that's why not too many guys have plays for.

Speaker 1 (25:02):
That bruncles had Quin Shawn, judkins the running back Of Ohio,
state in for an official Visit top thirty. VISIT i
think a lot of people had pointed out the Other
Ohio state running back In Trevion, henderson But judkins fits the.
Mold If you, know we've talked About maria And hampton
on our show quite a. Bit you, Know Sean payton
tends to like those guys that are a little bit,
bigger And judkins is that.

Speaker 2 (25:23):
Dude See judkins reminds me a little Of Alvin, kamara
being as though the skill, set how you can how
he can be used, hockey he'd be. Deployed but he
also reminds me Of Detroit Lions Jamir. Gibbs gibbs is
a very, fast explosive, guys strong lower. Body usually we

(25:45):
don't see him get caught from. Behind those are the
types of running backs that you. Need and even Though
Trevion HENDERSON i think he's a better pass catching running
back Than, jenkins that's not an indictment On junkins is
saying that he can't do. It, oh he can do.
It so we talked that was living here is ONE,
a ONE. B But judkins would be a massive improvement

(26:06):
for The. Broncos you know how ridiculous that is to
know that you can run an outside. Zone you got
a running back who can put his foot in the,
ground get vertical with adequate blocking from the offensive linement
and the receivers outside.

Speaker 4 (26:20):
And he can get vertical right.

Speaker 1 (26:21):
Now judkins six ft two hundred and twenty one pounds
started off his his college career At Ole miss and
then wound up At Ohio. State had a pretty productive
three year run there in college football and forty five
rushing touchdowns over three, seasons remarkable consistency sixteen to fifteen
fourteen rushing. Touchdowns he chipped in another five receiving touchdowns

(26:44):
and did a little bit of. Receiving Although Trayvon henderson
was mostly that, dad excuse, me mostly that. Guy but
you had over a thousand yards every. Season he's a
four four to eight guy in the forty you know
he Can ronnie could catch and again right there at
six feet two hundred and twenty one, pounds that's right
there in that size That Sean payton seems to cove
it out of out of lead backs in his.

Speaker 2 (27:02):
System does that make a tremendous difference to you when
evaluating running? Backs do you look at him and, say,
well this is where a guy has to. Be he
needs to be six Feet, no it has to be
like two fifteen.

Speaker 1 (27:16):
To two TWENTY I i mean, no because they come
in all shapes and, Sizes BUT i do tend to
look at archetypes that guys, like, like for, instance you
go back and you look and for a long, Time
Andy reid love those guys to be you were if
you weren't two hundred and twenty five, pounds you weren't
Playing Forrandy, reid, Right and you remember all the guys
he used to Have Doce, staley A correll Buck, halter
and then we got A Kansas city At Nile davis
and you, know he would these guys and he would

(27:38):
get used to be kind of bullying. Balls and now
he'll he'll do a little. Bit he's been to a
little bit over the years ON. Suz but you go
back and you look At Sean payton's you know. Archetypes
they don't have one of those guys that's that's kind
of a water. Strider they can catch a ball out
of the backfield with A sprolls Or Reggie bush or.
Whatever and then we'll have a couple of battling. Rams Latavious,
murray's the Mark, ingram's THE. P. R thomas is those

(27:58):
kind of. Guys and you, know so if you, look
he tends to want one or two guys that are
about five ten to six foot twenty five plus. Pounds
he wants one or two of those, guys and he
wants one of those little jitterbug guys back, there like
you know, McLoughlin you know who's got a little, speed
home run ability catch the ball in the.

Speaker 4 (28:14):
Backfield.

Speaker 2 (28:15):
SEE i Like jilim, McLoughlin BUT i don't like him
in the sense of trying to run him through the
teeth of the.

Speaker 1 (28:23):
Defense well you put him in, there you Bring julio
McLoughlin on the. Field you know what you're. Doing you're
either handing the ball to him or he's in a. Route,
well there's no way that dude's sitting back there.

Speaker 4 (28:31):
In the pass.

Speaker 2 (28:32):
Pro it's sort of, like you, know When Pat shermer
was the officer coordinated for The Denver broncos And Philip
lindsay was a running. BACK i just felt that there
was so many things that he could use of the
skills set Of Philip lindsay to kind of create matchups for.
Him the same THING i feel With jylan. McLoughlin And you're,
right when he comes in the, game teams automatically, go,

(28:53):
oh we know what's. Happening but that's when you mix it.

Speaker 1 (28:56):
Up well you should you know What i'm, Saying, like you,
know if you put that guy in the, backfield you
know he's not doing. Right you Knew Phil lindsay wasn't
gonna be back there in pass bro after that one
play where he's back there trying TO i think everybody
remembers the highlight OR i, guess For phil's, sake a
low light of him trying to pick Up Joey Bosa's
he was around on the corner And Joey bosa's eyes
like just lighting up as he recognizes the only thing

(29:16):
standing between him and a sack is is Poor Phil
lindsay down.

Speaker 2 (29:19):
There but see the way THAT i would use that
as AN oc because you look at it from a
matchup standpoint and you, say, well there's no way the
smaller body would be able.

Speaker 4 (29:27):
To pick up a large larger. Body SO i would
do it like a bluff a bluff.

Speaker 1 (29:32):
Screen are you gotta fake cut him and then run
roll out to.

Speaker 2 (29:35):
The flat because because defensive guys starting to slow down
right when guys started to cut, him and then eventually
all you have to do is just drop your your
shoulders and your. Helmet and now they think that they're
they're gonna get cut. Right so now he changes so many.
Things so you take A philip lindsay you put him
on the. Left we say in what you're, presenting let's

(29:56):
say you gotta Draw bosa to the. Right so on
the snap of the, ball running back goes from left
to right, right he flashes.

Speaker 4 (30:04):
Like he's gonna cut. Him that's gonna slow him.

Speaker 2 (30:06):
Down and then because the difference of guy's gonna like
to this peep squeak right, Here i'm just gonna throw
him to the.

Speaker 1 (30:10):
Side, money you're the size Of Benjamin. Obera you're not gonna.
Do you're not even gonna ended my progress.

Speaker 2 (30:14):
Exactly and then, guys and you see this happened all
the time on screen. Screenplays guys just, think you know,
WHAT i just gave that guy the best move.

Speaker 4 (30:22):
Ever the quarterback is right.

Speaker 1 (30:24):
Over and then that's when you sign on the screen.

Speaker 2 (30:27):
Because no one's there because now you're taking the mic
linebacker out of the.

Speaker 1 (30:31):
Equation six nine ers text line had a couple of
great text come In Nick Globe, Trotter, Ferguson oh my
Globe strotter because you're rooting for the team that always.
WINS i guess said the Sine arm screen sounds like
a great plan for punning on third and twenty.

Speaker 2 (30:51):
Two he, said that person is proclaiming that The broncos
they're going to be consistently in the third and long?

Speaker 4 (31:03):
Situations, again is? That is that good for me to
tell you?

Speaker 1 (31:07):
That it means your plan is just a bad. ONE
i don't really have anything to. Add, okay if.

Speaker 2 (31:13):
You think my plan is a bad, one instead of
saying my plan is a bad, one toss that one
on you. OWN i gave it to where you're breaking
down where a smaller player can be utilized in The
broncos or any offense for that.

Speaker 1 (31:27):
Matter i'm not a Post i'm just telling you what
the text line. Sessment don't shoot the. Messenger i'm the you,
KNOW i don't shoot the underdog. Here you already want
to kick them when they're. Down, really here's a good
one if on the text, line if you really want
to blow Up nick's, brain When georgia Plays georgia tack

GLOBETROTTERS i, mean who doesn't root for the Holl Globe.
TROTTERS i mean we already know at the.

Speaker 2 (32:23):

MEAN i mean you already see The globe.

Speaker 1 (32:26):
Cotter, yes you, GUYS i forget to see him as a.
Kid that's one of my favorite. Memories. Yeah, Uh Nick
ferguson was rooting For fanos and The. AVENGERS i will say,

Speaker 2 (32:38):

not even go my hypothesy didn't even go that far
to say THAT i agree With.

Speaker 4 (32:51):

college basketball going up against each.

Speaker 1 (35:58):
Other he he was four and a half point favorite
in that. One But i'm, On i'm On arkansas and
this one a little bit better scoring. Team we'll see
what they're able to. Do they think the problem for
The hogs Against kansas gonna be the rebounding. Deficiency kansas
just rebounds much much better Than arkansas, does and so
that's that's sort OF i think that gon'na be the
biggest problem. There we'll.
