Speaker 1 (00:00):
Everybody.

Speaker 2 (00:00):
Dave Logan, Ryan Ever shall be Harris was what how
are we doing today?

Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good?

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Like grand View?

Speaker 1 (00:05):
Oh yeah, I gotta wrap grand View of softball? Baby.
I got an alumni over there and that Fort Hayes
then that we cheer on pretty well, so you know,
gotta And it's actually one of my most comfortable workout shirts.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Okay? Or are you getting getting geared up?

Speaker 1 (00:20):
I didn't work out today, but you didn't work out today?
Well no, I didn't know this, and I might be
an idiot for this, but after you get a tattoo,
you can't work out right away.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
I didn't know that. I mean, I don't have any tattoos.
So I said, you gotta.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
Wait like two you gotta wait about forty eight hours?
Is that? What? What?

Speaker 2 (00:37):
What's the I mean maybe you get.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
Tattoos and I don't know why I didn't remember that
because I got tattooed yesterday and I'm sitting here, I'm
literally getting enough to go work out this born and
my wife's like, where.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
Are you going? What tattoo did you get?

Speaker 1 (00:50):
I got my uncle, my uncle who passed. Holy cow, Yeah,
I got my uncle who passed in December, and so
I got him, I got a I like portraits, got
my grandma's portrait on there. My uncle passed. And then
he has this really cool poem that he always used
to read to us. It's called The Dash. Have you

(01:12):
heard of it?

Speaker 2 (01:12):
I have not?

Speaker 1 (01:13):
Really, Yeah, I read it, well, the main part I read,
the main part that I got tattooed on me, and
the dash is what really means is like you know
when you say born in nineteen ninety one, took that
dash in the middle right, and the part that I
got tattooed on mean, this is a whole poem. It
says for that dash represents all the time that they

(01:34):
spend a live on earth, and now only those who
love them know what that little line is worth. And
it's it's really more, you know, it's more indictive to this,
like you know, the impact that he had on people
in that.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
Little dash, Yeah, you.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
Know, and it says more of a you know, make
the best of that dash, but you don't know how
many people you can affect in that little amount of
time that we're here.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
That's good man, A good perspective, Dave, good to see you,
absolutely good see you guys. Oh yeah, that's good man. Well,
that's not a small piece that you got tattooed on yourself.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
Well, I have to finish my arm sleeve to fish.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
Yeah. And the cool part about it, you know that
day gets to finish an arm when you start an arm.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
Yet nobody, I know you couldn't work out following you.
I didn't. I didn't add no clue. But uh, everything
on my arm means something to me, I hope. Like
I have a portrait of my grandma and I have
her favorite flower of the Carnation. I have when we
used to talk on the phone every time before she'd
hang up, she always said, what does mike Le say?

(02:35):
Do the right thing always? And then from then it
says round seven pick two thirty five, from dreams to
reality there you know what I mean. And so it's
and all that stuff. And then I have on my
and her bicet, I have all the kids birthdays and
Roman numerals. And then now I have my uncle with
that poem on the other side. So now on my neck,
you can't I have a slime smiley face. And so

(02:58):
that's just what about like the tyson thing over the eye?

Speaker 3 (03:03):
Can we go there? We're going to go there eventually. No,
I mean your uncle passed. It was he buried, No.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
He had So craziest part is he died in Africa
attending his girlfriend's daughter's wedding. Oh my, and so I
was unk sixty eight and he would have And the
crazy part, I guess the sad part is he would
have been alive if he was in the States. It
was just a heart attack, oh boy. And so it's

(03:30):
something where like doing the hospitals and the villages in
Africa can't really you know, they're not as advanced at
our worst hospitals here. Yeah, And so it's something that
if he would have been here, he would have been alive.
I'm sorry, man, yeah, absolutely, oh yeah, but it was
in de summer. So it's just my way of honoring
him and what he meant to me and that he's

(03:50):
taught me absolutely very cool. And so that's why I
said everything on my arm is actually like the girlfriend. Yeah,
I love Wanda. Wanda was good for you, you know
what I mean. I still talked to the water this day.
And actually the picture I got I got it from
wander Like because I went over there after the funeral.
You know, a whole bunch of you know, funerals can

(04:10):
be messy, you know what I mean. So I went
over after the funeral because she didn't go. It was
a whole mess with the with his kids, and she
helped me find We went through all these photos, all
these old photos of me and him, all these old
photos of me that he had, and then I got
some older photos of just him, and so I got
found a photo. He didn't smile all the time. It

(04:31):
was more of those hard ass type guys, and so
I found one of him smiling, and so that was
the one I chose to put.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
On my arm. Do you uh, I don't know, Dave.
Let me ask you real quick, sause I don't have
any tattoos. There's a couple of moments in my younger years,
my twenties that I thought about any tattoo, but I
just never really found something that was exciting. Did you ever,
because you don't have tattoos? Right?

Speaker 1 (04:54):
I do? Oh? You do? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (04:56):
Oh wow? I guess I did. Well, Yes, you knew.
He just smiles. That's a fact, like like big letters
on your back. No, I mean, so, well, do you
want to share what?

Speaker 1 (05:14):
What?

Speaker 2 (05:14):
Or are you not? Okay? I should have asked that first. Sorry,
but you knew that you can't work out after getting that,
so I guess I did. Yeah, So I had no clue,
yeah at all.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
And I just got a tattooed like a year ago,
so you feel like I would know, But I feel
like I always get tattoos on like a Friday and so,
and I usually don't work out on the weekends, and it's.

Speaker 3 (05:34):
A sweat and the you know, you can't get into sauna,
you can't get into steam.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
And I think that's even longer. I think you gotta
wait like four days, five days for like sauna, and
so for me, as a guy who loves the frequent
hot works, uh, it's you know, I pretty much have
to wait until next week to be able to do that.
But I'm gonna get So. I didn't work out today,
I'm not working out tomorrow. I'm gonna work out Saturday.
I'm gonna do a combined workout. There.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
You go, very cool.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
Ride never stops even after an eight hour tattoo.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
No doubt about it. Sorry. Five six, six nine zeros
are Katie commas Bury'll text line if you want to react,
We're gonna have all sorts of fun over the course
of the afternoon, talk a little about the Nuggets. We
got Jack Corgan joining us after five o'clock. The Red
Hot Rockies are in San Diego tonight, so we'll talk
a little bit about that. The Nuggets, though last night's
getting another dub. They did not cover Dave. You were

(06:21):
You're correct, and you know, I felt like I almost
helped you. It was like stocked in the Malone. I
assisted you with the Memphis tends to play them tougher
than twenty three and a half.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
All you did was play your hand. I knew exactly
who you were going to take. So I just but
I feel like I'm still three behind. Okay, I'm still
three behind. I got two days to make it up.
I believe in Yeah, I believe in Well, I tend
to Ryan. So why do I say Ryan finds the
way to lose at the end.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
Of the week, As he makes the joke, Gee, that's
probably more appropriate.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
Yeah, you definitely do that. Latrell's three well.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Really well, hey, but now now then stand up one
and a half up on the Lakers. The thunder Spurs
both locked into their spots. YEP, So those next two
games against the thunder and spurs for then, I guess
really are.

Speaker 3 (07:10):
Completely meaningless, So you wonder. I mean, it's going to
be a balance. I think for coach Adelman, you know,
how much do you play Joki? How much do you
play Jamal? You know, I mean Aaron Gordon. I mean
even a bigger question because of the injuries this year,
Christian Brown, You're gonna mix a match and you would

(07:32):
hope to get Peyton Watson and maybe Spencer Jones a
little bit of tick before the playoffs start, but you
want to give them as much rest as you can, right,
I mean, Peyton has re aggravated the hamstring. Spencer Jones
was what calf I can't remember how the right or

(07:52):
maybe it was hamstring or hip flexer.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
He is right hamstring.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
Right hamstring, So hamstrings, as we all know, can be
really tricky. So I just think he's got to figure
out he's got to start to think about Okay, you know,
I want to settle in on a rotation based on
who I think is going to be healthy and the opponent,
whoever the opponent would be.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
It looks like it's going to be Minnesota.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
So yeah, they're locked into six by the way, Minnesota.

Speaker 1 (08:21):
So it's it's going to be Minnesota.

Speaker 3 (08:23):
Yeah, so, but I think trying to get Peyton Watson,
Spencer Jones both as healthy as you can, you've got
to balance that against We would like to see them
play a little bit before the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (08:36):
And the Nuggets aren't officially locked into three by the way,
I mean, they have the inside track the Lakers.

Speaker 3 (08:42):
I mean, Lakers are going to be hard pressed to
win a game. I mean, I don't even know who
they play, but you know they don't have you know,
who do they have? Who right now? Would be the
leading scorer with those three guys.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
Out, Probably not Ruy Hachima, so Davenportant Yeah, maybe, yeah maybe.
I mean I had to take a look at the
last box score when Lebron tapped out. It could be DeAndre.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
He has been he's been a more important, you know
option in his career, and he even said earlier in
the year that he had to get used to this
new role in in LA and that he like bought
into it. But now they kind of need him to
take more of a scoring role because he can do it.
But isn't that kind of crazy though, There's so many
players in India that take a back seat that could

(09:27):
actually go score and I think that I don't know
if he's you think he's that guy. I think he
can at least get you twenty like eighteen to twenty
a game if he was the main option, like if
he was like a top two option, like when he
was in Phoenix and that whole championship run when they
lost to the Bucks of the finals. Per game was
a big part of what they were doing. Sixteen eighteen

(09:50):
a game.

Speaker 3 (09:51):
He just went down four points. Okay, I'm looking for
I've been around Ryan too much.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
Well, twenty point.

Speaker 1 (09:59):
I don't think he was twenty points a game. Maybe
he was, I don't know, eighteen eighteen a game the
average that last year in Phoenix. And you know that
was when he was really the number two Booker, Yeah,
it was but Booker and him. So he can put
up points. He can be a little erratic when it

(10:19):
comes to a shooting. But the thing is, though he's
shown in the past that he can at least be
a number two. Yeah at number three, And so it
now is his time to shine because obviously he didn't
necessarily get what he wanted in free agency. So now
that he's coming into this crunch time like end of
the season playoffs, he has to step up if he
wants to really stand out. Who did the Lakers play?

Speaker 2 (10:41):
They have the Warriors to Nice that's a nill and
it's at the Warriors and.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
He only had three points like against the Thunder in
twenty three minutes.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
Yeah, remarkably, really was the guy that led them in
scoring this last time. So at Golden State home against Phoenix,
who's also I think, Yeah, they're locked into the seven
and then Utah so.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
So and they're they're a game and a half, although
they have the tiebreaker.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
Yes, but I'd say if they lose tonight, douggats probably
locked that up. I'd say mathematically who left Because that's
just Oak City and the Spurs.

Speaker 1 (11:15):
They have two games Yep, yep, two games oak City Friday.

Speaker 3 (11:19):
Well you would think Oak City and San Antonio will
be setting guys to write nothing to play for it.

Speaker 1 (11:23):
Well, women needs one more game and so you might
have to he's hurt. Yeah, and that's the thing to
qualify for the ind season awards, he has to play
twenty minutes at one more game. But what's he what
what award is he trying to qualify Defensive Player of
the Year m VP of like all those, the Defensive

(11:45):
Player of the Year, he will apply for that Super
He's gonna win that.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
I think he blocks. I mean he's gonna be That's the.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
Thing that's the difference between the Super macs and just
getting you know, the extension. And I think that's something
that obviously players care about, so that I wouldn't be
surprised that last game of the year, you know, the
Nuggets might sit people because they're already set to where
they need to be. You might see when Beyanna try
to scratch out twenty minutes so he can get the
get his awards.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
So good spot for the Nuggets either way. I mean,
having the inside track even if they don't have the
tie break over the Lakers. I mean in the standings.
What I saw earlier today was was it's actually between
three teams. They're mathematically speaking, it is between the Nuggets,
the Lakers, and the Rockets. Because the Rockets are also

(12:35):
one and a half back of the Nuggets.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
They won seven straight.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
But I believe the Nuggets have the tiebreak over the Rockets. Yeah,
so so that would mean I.

Speaker 3 (12:42):
Think he asked the question would from Nuggets fans perspective,
would they rather have the Nuggets in the first round
play the Timberwolves or.

Speaker 1 (12:53):
The Rockets Timberwolves, I'd say timber Wolves because I don't
play in the playoffs. No, you don't want any of
that smoking them playoffs and the Rockets. Right now, it
seems like the last three games are pretty pretty easy,
and they got the seventy six ers and then they
do have one against the Timberwolves, and then they have
a beat up Grizzlies team.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
The timber Wolves are locked in, yeah.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
Exactly, so we'll see. But the Rockets pretty much seemed
like they're going to might be able to win the
last three. So that means that not just have to
at least win one of these in order to really
lock that down.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
It was wild. So last night, with that win, the
Nuggets are now on a ten game win streak. Is
the first time in Nicola Jokic's career he's had a
ten game right.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
That's crazy.

Speaker 2 (13:31):
It's bananas.

Speaker 1 (13:32):
Its longest win streak in the NBA.

Speaker 2 (13:34):
I mean it is, But just you think about over
the course of his career and the success that the
Nuggets have had while he's there. This was a banana stat.
I love after every game we get a new wild
Nicola Jokic stat, but even this one. The Nuggets quoted
this one because I've never seen anything like this. So
this is from optastats on Twitter. They got a one

(13:55):
hundred and forty three thousand followers, so I believe it's legit,
especially since the Nuggets also quoted it. Have been over
one point four million total ten games spans by players
in NBA history, including the playoffs. In none of them
did a player have as many points, rebounds, and assists
as Nikola Jokic has done in this ten game win
streak one point four million.

Speaker 3 (14:17):
Yeah, nothing, I mean, as you said, nothing really should
surprise any of us.

Speaker 2 (14:21):
I mean, it's just not the MVP though, just you know,
well we know why he had two hundred and fifty
two points, one hundred and forty five rebounds, one hundred
and twenty seven assists during this ten game wins streak,
and then and then one more just for fun, this one.
This came out a little a little bit ago, so

(14:41):
we already had talked about how he's gonna finish the
season first and assists and rebounds and it's gonna be
like top five in scoring. No player in NBA history
has finished the season leading the league in both assists
and rebounds.

Speaker 1 (14:54):
And I saw that earlier today, that that one surprised
me a little. That's very interest because I wonder what
was Russell Westbrook's stats when he was averaging a triple double?

Speaker 2 (15:05):
Well, I mean, the average triple double doesn't mean that
you're I know.

Speaker 1 (15:08):
I'm just saying because I thought, because obviously he's always
been known as Yeah, I thought one of the best
rebound in guard Wilt.

Speaker 3 (15:13):
One year lead the league and assist and I would
have thought I would have thought he just sort of
walked into maybe leading the league in rebounding, but evidently not.

Speaker 1 (15:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (15:23):
I mean, do you think about it in terms of
the cross section of kind of player to lead in
both right? And you say will will get it on purpose?

Speaker 3 (15:32):
Yes, because he was he was getting so much criticism.
I believe the story goes in terms of him being
a selfish player scoring so many points. So he said, Okay,
so he leads the league and assist one year. I
think he led the league and assist.

Speaker 2 (15:47):
Yeah, I'll tell you.

Speaker 1 (15:48):
And I don't even know sixty sixty something, maybe.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
Did you Dan Levatard today saying that Nikola Jokic is
a better offensive player than Michael Jordan.

Speaker 1 (15:56):
I did not.

Speaker 2 (15:57):
I was sickled by this because I like hyperbolic radio.
I like hyperbolic like just for fun, for fun debates. Right,
I mean, there's the.

Speaker 3 (16:09):
He's as good an offensive player as anybody I've ever seen.
I mean, you're talking basically about a footer who can
bounce out and knock down three point shots.

Speaker 2 (16:25):
That alone.

Speaker 1 (16:26):
What's he shooting from three point range? Now? It's right
at forty, isn't He's always always hovering around forty.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
It's about forty. I think that's right.

Speaker 3 (16:33):
Right, So what seven footer not named Kevin Durant has
the ability to shoot forty percent from three point range?
He also can play in the blocks, right, I mean
he's a he's around an eighty percent free throw shooter,
he's got a myriad of moves in the post. Taking

(16:58):
everything into consideration, he's as good an offensive player, and
he's an excellent passer, evidenced by the fact and how
many assists he gets. He's he's as good an offensive
player as I've ever seen, and still.

Speaker 1 (17:10):
Gets no love. And also it was in sixty seven
sixty eight when Will led the league when it was
an assist Philadelphia Warrior or people called him selfish, so
he led the league.

Speaker 2 (17:19):
I knew his story.

Speaker 3 (17:21):
Yeah, he said, I'll show you selfish. Also, that was
his fourth That was a year. That was his fourth
and final MVP.

Speaker 2 (17:27):
Sixty You said sixty seven sixty eight?

Speaker 3 (17:29):
They won it that year? They were I believe they were.
Was that the Philadelphia Warriors? Was that the wor Philadelpha
seven sixties? But is it what did seven sixties? And
this is what it's not in the ward.

Speaker 1 (17:40):
I think they won the championship in sixty seven. I
think it's twelve years. I think so. I think because
I was a huge Celtics fan, they won sixty seven.
You are correct, Yeah, we would that have been the
sixty sixth season, sixty six sixty seven. No, I think
because they won the sixty seven sixty eight season is
nineteen sixty seven, and and then he won again in

(18:01):
seventy two with the Lakers.

Speaker 2 (18:04):
Here, just really quick, here's a little bit of Dan
Lebtard saying that Akole Yoki is the best offensive player.

Speaker 4 (18:09):
Jokich is a better offensive player than Michael Jordan.

Speaker 1 (18:13):
Yeah, yeah, I'm sorry.

Speaker 4 (18:17):
It took me a long time to get here.

Speaker 1 (18:19):
I am now here.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
Everyone should capitulate.

Speaker 4 (18:22):
There has never been a better offensive player than that
loaf of Brett. And you're not comfortable with it because
you wanted to be a wing guy and you wanted
to be somebody who soars through the air. And I'm
sorry that this guy ruined basketball for you. But he's
better as an offensive player than any that the sport
has ever seen.

Speaker 2 (18:36):
Okay, So if I asked you you have one game,
Michael Jordan, Nikolay Jokich, you're taking O.

Speaker 1 (18:43):
That's not what I said, But I'm asking a different ques.

Speaker 2 (18:46):
But it's not what I said.

Speaker 4 (18:48):
I said he's the best offensive player I have ever seen.
I could give you all of the numbers and metrics
of how champion the Nuggets are when he plays offensively
and defensively, because he's also good defensively. He clogs everything
up there, not the same thing defensively. The excellence is
unprecedented at the top of what these people are doing. Like,

(19:09):
you can take the MVP from that guy if you like,
but there's never been a better offensive player.

Speaker 1 (19:13):
And you can argue on behalf of Michael Jordan.

Speaker 4 (19:15):
And you can say one game all the players that
ever played, but we're watching one right now who's a multiteme.

Speaker 2 (19:20):
You could argue for Michael Jordan being a good basketball player.

Speaker 4 (19:22):
Good can but you can make the argument on the
other side and it'll be hair splitting. Like whatever it
is you're doing to reduce my Jokich argument, you're doing
it by this margin.

Speaker 1 (19:34):
We are watching genuine mastery in basketball.

Speaker 4 (19:37):
But everybody's mad at basketball for an assignment, for an
assortment of very good reasons.

Speaker 2 (19:42):
I love how he called him a loaf of bread.
Then he also said that maybe he's ruined basketball for you,
because I genuinely see takes like that from people outside
of the smart You know what.

Speaker 3 (19:53):
I would say, not if you love you really love basketball,
and you have an appreciation of the nuance of the game,
many many nuances. This guy is a I mean, again,
we don't need to tell Nugget fans, but it's not
like he's a world class athlete.

Speaker 1 (20:13):
I think he's a little bit.

Speaker 3 (20:14):
Better athletically than people getting credit for, but he's not
a world class athlete. He doesn't play above the rim.
I get all that you don't see him on Sports
Center highlights and all that, but just in terms of
his fundamentals, his ability to see the court, as I mentioned,
a seven footer that can move out to three point range,
knock that shot down eighty percent, or they're about free

(20:34):
throw shooter, a variety of moves in the post, including
knocking it out to an open wing player. I mean,
I love Jordan, I love Magic, I loved Bird, I
mean all great players, they are in any conversation of
greatness that anybody will ever have in NBA history. But

(20:56):
this guy is as good offensively as I've ever seen
the NBA.

Speaker 1 (21:01):
He kind of reminds you of a is the body
of a Zach Randolph, you know, somebody you don't expect
much athletically from. But then also he has to, you know,
to touch as Zach Randolph did. But then he goes
out to the arc, and then he kind of has
a touch of at Dirk Winsky. He's like five six
inches bigger than Jack exactly, and then you bring it
to Dirk Lewinsky and you're like, all right, Like he
kind of can play with that. He has to fadeaways,

(21:23):
as we saw against from Beyonna that the classic. You
know that's that's going to be attached to Kole Yochus's
name for forever that fade away over Win Banyana, and
that's right there. It's like he's a mix with so
many different players. You haven't seen it before. You haven't
seen it. Like Dave said, he's he's more athletic than
what people give him credit for because he doesn't have
the body of the typical NBA player. He's not sitting

(21:43):
there with with a twelve pack and five percent body
fat and you know, running fast down and catching lobs,
and he's playing fundamental basketball and he's dominating with it
and you love to see it. And it kind of
goes back to what is going on for American sports
where all the best basketball players are now coming from overseas.
All the most fundamental players are coming from overseas. Every

(22:05):
player that we're pretty much talking about now is not
from America, and that's crazy. You talk about Joker, you're
talking about women, Yanna, you talk about Sga.

Speaker 2 (22:14):
Luca Luca.

Speaker 1 (22:15):
These are not American players. And so once again there's
a problem with AAU basketball. There's a problem with the
development of basketball in America. And this is why all
these foreign players are coming from overseas and dominating the NBA.

Speaker 2 (22:30):
Rob here on Thursday, very excited to be here with you,
right back on Kwa.

Speaker 1 (22:39):
Actually it was even longer than that. I don't say,
because I got there at too, But we really didn't
even get started till Katy'll start for dinner. I didn't
even have dinner last night. What about your artist? No, no,
no no, I was drinking the water. I was like, man,
this like, I'm the type I don't like to take breaks.
Just just do it, just get it over with. And

(23:01):
he was like, I can appreciate that. So we just
went all the way through. It was really more like
i'd say it was like seven and a half eight,
because we really started like three thirty three forty five.
I got home at eleven thirty, but it was in Littleton,
so I had to drive thirty five minutes too, so.

Speaker 3 (23:16):
We had a nine to seven zero texture. This argument
discounts our great Jordan was defensively No, we were just
talking offensive right, both Jordan was elite. Jordan was the
elite on both ends. Well, sure, well it's coming out
now that a lot of his stats were fudge. How so, well,
people are going back and watching the games and getting
the stats in the games, and they don't match up

(23:38):
with the stats that they're trying to say that he had.

Speaker 1 (23:41):
Why would that happen? I don't know, actually, but like
that's like the biggest gripe I guess they're saying about
the old scorers back in the day, is that some
of these statses pop out about aim out of nowhere.
They'd be like, all right, he had five steals that game,
and you watch the game he had two.

Speaker 3 (23:55):
Well, they used to say the same thing about tackles
in the NFL. Gratish are forever and Paul Zimmerman, the
late writer for ESPN, was the one that I think
championed this particular argument.

Speaker 1 (24:08):
But he questioned because Randy had over two hundred tackles.

Speaker 3 (24:12):
Uh, I want to say, if not several a handful
of times in the league, that's that's a bunch of tackles.
But that dude made a lot of tackles. So I'm
not here to dispute how many he had. But that's yeah,
those type numbers because they're a little bit subjective, right,
I mean, were you the first guy there was the

(24:34):
guy going down and you then jumped on the pot.
I mean, there's all sorts of ways to sort that,
but I wouldn't think. I wouldn't think NBA stats would
be subjective at all.

Speaker 1 (24:43):
Maybe assist. Maybe I hadn't heard to rebound.

Speaker 2 (24:48):
I had heard them going back over his numbers. But
don't you just watched Jordan play. I don't know, there's
a little bit of he's pretty good.

Speaker 1 (24:55):
Yeah he was.

Speaker 2 (24:55):
Okay, he's okay, Yeah, he's a pretty good player.

Speaker 1 (24:58):
Okay, illed to up. A twenty twenty four report by
Yeaho's Sports highlighted that Michael Jordan's nineteen eighty seven and
nineteen eighty eight Defensive Players of Year stats were likely
inflated by home scorekeepers, and analysis found in one hundred
and eighty two percent disparity in blocks and steals between
his home and away games. Oh okay, okay, all right,

(25:21):
showing potential stat padding through experts. Note this is this
Homer bias was common in that era.

Speaker 2 (25:26):
Okay, but this isn't Pippins behind That isn't right, a
level of petty that is that is another level of petty.
But is that like his entire career is being called
into questions at certain times.

Speaker 1 (25:39):
Is this one number? Is this? Evidence suggests that in
several home games, Jordan was credited with more steals than
an opposing team had total turnovers, and multiple dead ball
turnovers were credited as steals to him. Okay, oh wow,
that was Okay. I mean, like you know, back in

(26:00):
the day, I guess you know, you could do stuff
like that and people.

Speaker 2 (26:04):
So is the argument that they should strip him of
that award? Okay, it's the argument.

Speaker 1 (26:13):
It's more of like when people try to talk about
how great Jordan was defensively and just like how we
kind of got on. A lot of people will bring up, now,
wha did you hear about some A lot of his
stats were kind of fudge back then when it came defense.
So you can't obviously do anything about scoring. You got
to score the points, you know what I mean. But
like certain little things like that where it could be
a toss up, they would get given it to him. Okay,

(26:36):
I had not heard that story.

Speaker 2 (26:37):
I had neither that interesting stuff. By tomorrow at three o'clock,
ran of Garrett Bulls in studio. Okay, look forward to
having the Broncos starting left tackle in studio. Of course,
we're going to be talking about his incredible tragedy work
that he did over the course of the year with
us on our program and checking with the off season.
It's interesting as we're two weeks out from the draft,

(26:58):
I was thinking about what Bronco fans' expectation is of
that second round pick because they've been out of shape
about the playtime of Jade baron first round pick. Right, Hey,
you traffic on the first round as you play play
significant role. The Broncos clearly had a different mindset with
that pick, as was do they still have the same

(27:20):
mindset of the second round pick since that's the first
pick for the Broncos.

Speaker 3 (27:23):
I think yes, but to this degree, I think because
they don't have a first round pick, I think maybe
you start to lean into the Okay, what positions are
we absolutely looking at in the draft, and then if
they're if they stay where they are in the second

(27:43):
round and you've got two choices in one you have
graded a little bit, not a lot, but a little
bit higher, and the other is a position that you
have identified as we have to go to work on
this position, these positions in the draft, then maybe you

(28:03):
take that guy.

Speaker 2 (28:04):
I mean, it makes a lot of sense. I mean,
I think tight end would be the one. I was
reading an article today saying what's the biggest need for
the Broncos, and that was what they listed as as
they thought was tight end. And there's probably be a
couple around there. There was another article I was reading
today saying like, don't be surprised if the Broncos go
offensive tackle there at sixty two, which you have a
thirty four year old left tackle, you have a thirty
one year old right tackle. It would make some sense there,

(28:26):
but you're not starting him year one, so then you
have to accept that that's a great there.

Speaker 3 (28:30):
Yeah, I think it's a little bit of a misnomer,
even for a first arn draft choice. If you're drafted
to a good team, or you're drafted on the side
of the ball that is really strong and plays really
well for in this case, an AFC championship team, it
doesn't mean you can't play if you didn't wind up
starting your first year. Now, if we're sitting here talking

(28:51):
about Jahne Barron and he didn't get any more tick
in his second season than he did in his first season, okay,
then I think it's you know, are open to discussing like, hmm,
what do you think has happened here? And how are
they going to rectify this situation and what does this
mean for the Broncos moving forward at that position? But
I mean, he was drafted by a team that had

(29:12):
a really good defense and the nickelback Jaquan McMillan.

Speaker 1 (29:16):
Had an excellent Year's that's going to happen.

Speaker 3 (29:20):
So what happens this year and how he forces the
Broncos with his offseason work and how he shows up
for mini camp and in training camp, he's got to
force their hand and say we've got to get twenty
three on the field somehow, someway.

Speaker 1 (29:37):
If he's not in the field and it's a failure,
you know what I mean, well for him, it should
be a complete failure because politics is all over your side.
And as a seventh round pick, you know, on a
former seventh round pick, I've seen the politics work both ways.
You know, you see a guy who should be playing
a seventh round pick and he's not. You see a
guy who's a first round pick and he's playing and
he shouldn't. This is his chance to go out there

(29:58):
and play. They're going to try to get on every
opportunity possible. But if you're saying O lion with that
second round pick, that's not completely a blasphemous thing to
say because you have no more guaranteed money for Michael Vinci.
You know, you just resigned Garrett Bowles. So the idea,
and any NFL player will tell you this, they're trying
to replace you the minute they sign you. They're trying

(30:20):
to find a way to go cheaper the minute they can.
And so I offensive tackled that position that possibly slide
in next year to save some money because you're going
to eventually have to shell it out to your quarterback.
It does make sense. It's not completely crazy to even
think about that. But that's the draft gymnastics you have

(30:41):
to do, is because you have to think about the
future and the now at the same time where you're
making these decisions.

Speaker 2 (30:51):
Predrick Perkins that was accusing Nikola one of those MVP seasons.
He's like, he's a staff pattern.

Speaker 1 (30:59):
I think that was Perkins. Yeah, no, wait a minute,
Wait a minute, I thought it was Perkins on ESPN
who was the guy that had a fast break intentionally
missed the layups so he can get a triple double.
Or double double or something like that. I can't remember,
but like, that's what I think of.

Speaker 2 (31:15):
I think a stab add in Niccologic does not stab
had In fact, I mean I say the opposite of that,
because that's that's a weird thing to say. But there
are times when we've historically been like, why don't you
score more? Why don't you take over more? You seem
to be wanting to pass the ball a lot, and
I mean he settled in nicely to doing whatever he

(31:35):
needs to do in every single game, but there have
been times where I'm like, Okay, you could score more,
you could be a little more selfish, and he's.

Speaker 3 (31:41):
Just not Texter ninety five six four o four are
Vetus Sibonis is the only one that I remember similar
to Jokic. I would say his his he was he
was one of the one of the first, not the first,
but one of the first great passing big men. Had
had an excellent game inside, but nowhere near the kind

(32:02):
of three point game that that Jokich has. I mean,
Bonas was down in the blocks, but a great, great
pass or nice touch really really a depth scoring machine.

Speaker 2 (32:15):
Somebody's asked if we blocked them, No, I don't think
we even have the capability at least a mi end.
I'm sure higher UPSTROWI could. But no, you were not blocked.
We see your tap O.

Speaker 1 (32:24):
Tell the truth. People tell the truth.

Speaker 2 (32:28):
I don't. I don't even know if I would want
to do that. Yes, she would, even even the haters.
Yes she would this one. Yes, of course, Ryan, you
always wanted the early prospects to play inside linebacker, tight end,
running back to maybe not the extent as the years.
Our roster is in fairly great shape. Stop drafting edge cornerback,
wide receiver at BPA. It will be a great shape. Well,

(32:51):
I I don't really tend to have an issue with
drafting from strength like I I once again, if you
like Johnny Barron and you think he's a two contract
player for you, and they do and they did, Yeah,
didn't take him. You have him me Eyer on your board,
stick to your board and be good with it.

Speaker 3 (33:07):
I would just suggest, I mean, I would say this.
I understand why Broncos fans would think, Hey, I mean,
he was the first round pick, twentieth overall, so we're
excited about him. He's certainly going to get playing time.
He didn't get a lot of playing time. But Jakawon
McMillan played out of his mind, right, So where else
are you going to play? You're going to take You
got to take Riley Moss or Pastor Tan out of

(33:28):
the game.

Speaker 1 (33:29):
You're not.

Speaker 3 (33:30):
That doesn't mean that doesn't mean Jaddi Barren can't play.
This just means he came to a really good defense.
And the wild card in this thing was Jakwan McMillan.
He played to the point they couldn't take him out
of the game. That's the beauty of the NFL. And
that's why I've always respected the Broncos and how they
do things. And it brings me back to how I

(33:51):
made the team my first year here. I was like
six in a depth chart. They drafted to Barcus Walker
in the second round and I beat them.

Speaker 1 (33:59):
All out, you know. And that's the thing. If you
are able to go out there and show consistently that
you can be the better player, they will play you.
And it's been consistent throughout all the years the Broncos,
and and I will give them credit because a lot
of teams are not like that. And you know, they
let the politics take control of the playing time and

(34:19):
I feel like here in Denver, if you're good, it
doesn't matter where you're drafted, you're going to play. And
that's how they've kind of conducted things here. But also
as a player, isn't that what you would want you?
Especially sure as a vet watching young guys kind of
like as a guy who's been places where you've seen
guys that get anointed, it feels good when you see

(34:40):
them actually have to go earn it because when they
do finally grasp it, when they do finally achieve that goal,
they're not going to let it go, compared to somebody
else who if you just give it to them, they
don't understand what they have while they have it.

Speaker 2 (34:52):
Somebody said, Shelby, that was your boy Yannis that missed
a layup to try for a triple double?

Speaker 1 (34:56):
Non do that? Do that under that? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (35:00):
Hey that sounds like ya honest.

Speaker 1 (35:02):
Oh wow.

Speaker 2 (35:03):
I'm just saying, all right, we'll come back. I want
to follow up on this this topic though. For a moment,
and because I was I was seeing a stat about
team investments in specific sides of the ball. You won't
believe some of the numbers coming out of that. I
want to get into that, and if there are positions
that are best to draft versus positions best to add

(35:25):
free agency, we'll get to that
