Speaker 1 (00:00):
A special guest is studio Dave Logan, Ryan American.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
Can you guys see the garret and I try to
have a conversation. You want to start a radio show early?
What are we doing?
Speaker 3 (00:08):
This is on me?
Speaker 4 (00:09):
What are we doing here?
Speaker 1 (00:10):
But I think it's like it's kind of the radio
knowledge of knowing it's a shorter bed.
Speaker 3 (00:14):
And again we don't have to get what's up Garrett?
Speaker 4 (00:17):
What's up? My brother?
Speaker 5 (00:17):
What's going on? You see Garrett? You know it's always good.
Just you know, come over here and give Dave a
hard time. You know, he gets a little he gets
a little salty sometimes, you know what I mean, It's
all good. You got a little fire all lacks a
little hurt because his golf game isn't very good.
Speaker 4 (00:33):
My golf game is not very good.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
I would love to like challenge and say really, but
the fact is you're right, so I probably shoot just
like you. So whenever you want to go out, let's go.
What's your hand again?
Speaker 1 (00:43):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (00:44):
To be honest, I used to I'll be real with you.
Let me let me be real with you. Be real.
Speaker 5 (00:49):
When I first picked up golf in like twenty seventeen,
ain't nobody wanted to golf with me. I'll be hitting
birds and windows and cars. And then I got some
new clubs last year and I'm shooting all right. I'm like,
if I'm really playing good, I'm like a ninety five
to a ninety. Okay, you like that's not I knocked
off probably fifteen to twenty strokes.
Speaker 4 (01:09):
Yeah, you and I'd be we'd be just fine.
Speaker 5 (01:10):
But like my goal was when I retire, it would
be cool to be like in the threes to a
scratch golfer.
Speaker 4 (01:17):
That would be my goal. Wow, okay, all right.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
You know what you want really is, and it sounds
like if you can go out and play and shoot
a ninety. You just want to be able to play
and when you're done playing tournaments or whatever and not
embarrass yourself, just go out and hit it and keep
in the.
Speaker 4 (01:32):
Fair away in.
Speaker 5 (01:32):
But I love My favorite golf is when you're with
your homies and it's like a scramble and you're just
having a good time and there's no pressure. Yeah, when
you're out there like people sweating and some of my
teammates are like into it, I might bro I just
go out and swing the sticks.
Speaker 4 (01:46):
Like I'm not there's no competition to hear from me. Dude,
that's right.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
So great to be a natural athlete. That's just shooting
the nineties.
Speaker 4 (01:53):
He is that he's a natural ass.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
Well if it's lacrosse stick, oh yeah, then there's money
on the line, for sure.
Speaker 4 (01:58):
If there's money on the line. Was across in high school?
I did, I did were I was. No.
Speaker 5 (02:05):
I played goalie my freshman year and then so my
dad the family that took me in. My dad was
our coach, and he's like, dude, you're not gonna You're
not gonna not play goalie no more.
Speaker 4 (02:14):
So then I moved to.
Speaker 5 (02:15):
Attack, and then my junior year I played defense and
then I went to Elis in my senior year. Okay,
so my brother was a foego, so that was pretty fun.
We had a bunch of signs and different communications, so
we would do some fun things.
Speaker 4 (02:28):
I like it.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
Some people some things like like wreck people.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
Yeah, we would wreck some people. That's you can run around,
knock people down. You got a big stick, and that
lacrosse is great. I had some scholarship opportunities. I just
had grades, so I could have I could have went
pretty far. I want I mean, I I think you
made the right choice. Two time All.
Speaker 5 (02:46):
State okay, so okay, and uh yeah, well all American.
I think I don't know no hoops, so right, nah basketball?
I mean I just got cut my my like junior
year and I was like.
Speaker 4 (02:58):
I'm good with this.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
Is it depressing that you don't get to hit people
the way you did?
Speaker 5 (03:03):
I was just like lacrosse, Lacrosse was my sport. I'm
better lacrosse than I am a football. What that's like?
That's my jam. Like when I got drafted here and
the Outlaws were here when they played in our stadium,
I asked, mister, mister, do you think I could play bolt?
Speaker 4 (03:16):
And he just laughed at me. Not a chance. The
last last year.
Speaker 5 (03:22):
So last year when the Outlaws came, when they came back,
when now they were with the p l O. I
think is when they came back they I asked when
I was shooting, I got like a blister on my
hand because I was shooting with the guys, and uh,
I said, hey, George, you think, uh you think canna
let me play? He's like, not a shot?
Speaker 4 (03:39):
Like uh, he didn't do his chuckle before he said
not a chance. Yeah, I tried. That would be cool to.
Speaker 5 (03:45):
Like, you know, just they're playing right now, so why
can I not just go run around? You know, I
don't even have to be in the game. Just let
me just go practice and it ain't happening.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
Well, yeah, I imagine that there's a lot of stipulations
on extracurriculars like basketball. I mean, I mean I know
that his toorkly for some contracts, they want to let
you guys do that skiing, things like that.
Speaker 4 (04:03):
Skiing, for sure. Even back when I played, couldn't ski,
couldn't go skan.
Speaker 5 (04:08):
Do you think Dave can ski? I grew up skin Oh, okay,
little mobiles. Let a little mobile, you know, get down
on there.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
Gat Yeah, well, back to back flips catching the ball
across the middle.
Speaker 4 (04:23):
But I wasn't trying to backflip. But no backflips and.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
Ski I learned.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
I learned very early in the course of the show
never to question the athleticism of Dave, because again, basketball,
baseball and.
Speaker 4 (04:33):
Footballs a free back in the day. Though we're past that.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
Still has the best hands in the studio though, So.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
When are we playing hoops A We're gonna go one
on one like we did when we talked about'm not gonna.
Speaker 4 (04:44):
Win on one.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
We talked about just having a horse horse horse contest. Yeah,
let me just help you. I'm in well, okay, I'm not.
I don't take the challenge. You a lot more money.
What I don't take down any challenge. I can't be it,
can't be a baby, be afraid your money spends. So
whatever you can afford to lose, let's let's do it.
You you tell me and we'll go. We'll go one
(05:05):
hundred dollars a game. We can do that too. I
give you the horse, let's go.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
Let's go.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
Seriously, why not let's go five hundred a game? Okay, bet, Okay,
I'll tell them it now. Now you can still I
ain't crying. Okay, you can still dunk the ball. I
can't still dunk that. So if I dunk, you have
to dunk. That's an h oh see.
Speaker 4 (05:26):
So you don't.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
So you don't want to just have like a contest
that shows the ability to shoot the ball from the perimeter.
You want to take advantage of an older guy. I listen,
you made the bet. I'm just playing the game. Well
I can't, so I'm acknowledging now that I can. I
don't think I can still dunk. Well, we'll give you
a tennis ball.
Speaker 4 (05:46):
Let's just shoot. Let's just shoot the ball. How about
a tennis ball? Would that work?
Speaker 2 (05:49):
How about you just shoot like a seventeen foot jump shot. Okay,
that's fine, Okay, I feel real good about my chances
with that. Okay, okay, fine, seven fifty games if I
don't know dunks.
Speaker 4 (05:58):
But oh no, that's what you said. That's the first scheme. No,
that's that's how many games were planning.
Speaker 5 (06:03):
Whatever you want, whatever, how much do you want me
to take from your pockets?
Speaker 4 (06:06):
Whatever? Okay, all right, we're going to do this. We
sixty windmill.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
We ain't No, no, sixty winds No, No, I can't.
Speaker 4 (06:16):
I can't. I can't do that. Down.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
Can I say one thing? You can't do it either.
I can't do anything. Your little flannel shirt I flared.
Speaker 3 (06:27):
Along ago and I just I don't challenge. But now
we have some week in studio that.
Speaker 4 (06:31):
Well, yeah, he's like seventeen years old. He supposed to
be able to dunk.
Speaker 3 (06:37):
How's your off season going, man, it's been good.
Speaker 4 (06:39):
Yeah, off season has been good. I can't complain.
Speaker 5 (06:41):
Just back and forth four days a week in Cali
and then the home on the weekend's watch my little
boy plays some baseball.
Speaker 4 (06:47):
It's nice.
Speaker 2 (06:48):
How much do you get away from in terms of
working out, like after a long season like you had
AFC championship game, do you take a little more time
to get your body kind of refreshed before you get better?
If so, how much I probably take? I bet every
year after year six, I probably took about it. I
started adding a week extra. Okay, so when we finished
(07:10):
into April, I didn't start, no, no, in the January
into January, excuse me, sorry, and then I didn't. I
didn't do any football February, and then I started like
the end of March, so about what a month almost
two months? Yeah, so I'm probably I'm in my I'm
going on yeah, yeah, that's about right. Next week is
(07:33):
I'm done with my second cycle, So every three weeks
I'm on a new cycle.
Speaker 4 (07:38):
Was my trainer.
Speaker 5 (07:39):
So yeah, I'm I've been I've been going pretty good
for last three weeks, three or four weeks.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
How did you feel like your I don't know, is
your body you're conditioning held up over the course of
the longer season.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
The fact that you guys went as far as you did.
Speaker 5 (07:52):
Last year was probably the best I've ever felt and
the best I've ever played. I've just changed a little
bit of how I take care of my body in
the offseason and you know, just focusing really on my sleep.
And as I get older, I realize that, you know,
when you get older, they want to get rid of you,
they want to go younger, and that's just reality. And
I'm just not going to let that happen. So whatever
(08:13):
I have to do to make sure that my body,
my mind is in the right place to go be
the best left tackle on football and do whatever it takes.
And you know, I feel like last year I did
that and I feel like I can just bid off
of that and just become even better this year.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
As you look, as you look at your career, as
players start to get by NFL standards older in their career,
have you at least talk to yourself about, you know,
I'd like to go x more years if everything works out,
or do you not have those conversations?
Speaker 5 (08:48):
No, I think I've talked probably this off season was
probably the first time I've talked about that. But at
the same time, I'm like, I feel so young. I mean,
I didn't play a lot of college football. I truly
do feel like I'm super young, and I feel like
my better days are just ahead of me. I feel
like this is just the you know, the track record
that I'm on. That's just I'm just going to keep
getting better and better and better. And I think I'm
(09:09):
just going to go until my wills fall off. I
truly do that, and you know, I want to retire here.
You know, it'd be cool to play my last season
when the new stadium opens up. That's a goal of
mine now that I just made this offseason, so to
be here and to see everything that's happening with our
new ownership and you know, the amazing talent that we
have with these young guys that are coming in, I
(09:29):
want to be a part of that. We're so close
of being right where I want to do. I want
to I want to win a ring for the Cities,
and that's that's my goal and where we were right
there last year, and you know, I'm just excited to
see what happens this year and the years to come
and bring that trophy back to here.
Speaker 1 (09:44):
Kara Bowles and Studio, So an interesting moment is offseason
because the team elected to bring back a lot of
the same guys. Seventeen seventeen of the players that were
with you guys last year are all back with this team,
whether by restrict free agency or absolute free agency.
Speaker 3 (10:01):
So what was I don't know. I guess the question
for that is, I'm sure you're.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
Pretty excited because it's your locker room, right, But then
also what does that mean for the way you guys
maybe could hit the ground running this upcoming season.
Speaker 5 (10:12):
Yeah, I mean it just speaks volumes of what type
of players that coach Payton brings in. And you know,
not only that, but George at the same time, and
you know, those two dudes working together. And then obviously
you know Carrie and Greg Pinner and the amazing ownership
group that we have there. And you know, they the
minute they've been in the building, they want to know
about football, They want to know about our families, they
want to know what we're doing from day to day basis,
(10:32):
and you know, they're really discepting all of us, and
you know, they want to bring special people in here.
You know, obviously they want one of the biggest, you know,
grocery stores in the world and if you look at that,
it's just so like when you walk into a Walmart,
it's just ran a certain way and you can feel
that it's ran from the top to the bottom. And
that's how they're running the Broncos, and you know, obviously
just speaks volumes of what they're doing. The people we
(10:54):
bring in from from the top to the bottom, to
the cooks, to the cleaners to you know, people, they
interact with us on a daily basis, like everyone's special
in that building. And I love every single person. And
it's just fun to watch where we're going. And you know,
to bring somebody in here. We didn't want to ruin
our locker room. We didn't want to ruin what we
have in there because we're so tight. We're always hanging out.
(11:15):
We're always talking and you can see us and we
battle when we get after each other, and you know,
when the pads come on and the helmet comes on,
you know, we smack each other good. But you know,
we also respect each other, We love each other, and
it just pays giving us to the time that we
spend together. And like I said, that locker room was
the closest I've ever been around, and I'm looking forward
to bringing jaylen Wado along. He's a special guy that
(11:37):
we got that's going to be a big time for
our receiver crew. Him and Courtland are going to go
to be freaks in nature and our defenses where it
needs to be. Our offensive line is the same. And
when you can keep the core guys together, you can
go as far as you want. I mean, you look
at some of the greatest NFL teams that won multiple
Super Bowls. It's the same core guys together day in
(11:58):
and day out. And if they bring somebody and new
and it's somebody that's just liked them, and that's what
we did.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
I want I want you to talk a little bit
about I think I think the Broncos do about as
good a job, if not better than any other NFL team,
certainly as good a job as as any other NFL
team in terms of their players using their platform to
get involved in the community. And we partner with you
(12:25):
and your foundation, and I want to have you talked
a little bit about that in terms of like when
when did the idea first come to you? And big picture,
what do you hope to accomplish with what you're doing?
Speaker 5 (12:41):
Yeah, I mean our community team with the Broncos is phenomenal. Obviously,
you know, we've been up for multiple awards for how
many guys participate, and you know, this is not too
many people realize how close the state of Colorado is
in the communities. It doesn't matter if you're way out
west or east or south or anywhere. Like, it's a
(13:02):
tight group of people that live here, and it's just
specific people that live here. And it's so friendly, it's
so loving, it's so kind, and you know, there's so
much work to do in this community. There's so many
kids that suffer, there's so many families that suffer. There's
you know, and everyone is always has a hand in it,
and everyone wants to help each other. You know, it's
(13:22):
not just the Broncos, It's the Rockies, it's you know,
all the sports team is the Avs, it's it's the Nuggets.
Like everyone wants to put in. Everyone wants to be here.
And you know, obviously, you know, being a Denver Bronco,
you know it's I take that not you know, I
take that very seriously because it's such a unique football
team in a town like this that everyone just eats
and sleeps it and I mean you drive around the city.
(13:45):
People got orange houses, orange cars, blue cars. It's crazy, right,
And like the other teams could be in the Western
Comference Finals and that we're still talking about the Denver Broncos.
Speaker 4 (13:56):
And it's just what it is.
Speaker 5 (13:58):
And it's just a standard that we have here and
that's the standard that they have is we get back
to the community. And I'll never forget the time. Like obviously,
I had a vision of what I wanted to do
as a child. I wanted to get back to the
kids that were in need, and very similar the kids
that suffer how I suffered in school with the learning disability.
Felt didn't feel loved, and you know, their families didn't
care about them, and they just you know, they just
(14:20):
struggle on a regular basis. And I wanted to get
back like that. I've always had a vision of exactly
what I wanted to do ever since I was about ten, eleven,
twelve years old. I just was like, I want to
get back to I don't know what it is. I'm
going to open up a boy's home. Am I going
to open up a school? What am I going to do?
Speaker 4 (14:35):
And I come to.
Speaker 5 (14:36):
Denver, I SEEVM Miller, I see de Mary's Thomas, I
see Emanuel, I see Derek Wolf. All those guys that
are such close friends of mine taught me how to
be a Bronco, Todd what's like to be a Bronco,
and eventually, you know, it was up to me to
take upon it. And now I'm the old one and
I see why this is what we do. We're a family,
and we always just passed down that torch to the
next person to bring up everybody. And you know, every
(14:59):
single person that Low Groom donates and contributes to this community.
And you know, if it's from helping all of our
other teammates out with their events, or if it's them
going to the Boys and Girls Club or the hospitals.
Like our community team finds a vision. And I'll never
forget when Olivia and Ali and Liz sat next to
me a couple of years ago and was like, what
(15:19):
do you want to do? And I started in the
Detention center, you know, the Marvin Foot Center, helping remodel
their pods. We're going to finish that project in the
next couple of months, which is a huge accomplice for
me to get back to those kids. We started with
the courtroom decorated that so when kids walking there, it's
not just white walls and brown benches, it's quotes and
it's motivation. And now, you know, doing this and opening
(15:41):
up that training center for my son that suffers from
a practice of speech and watching them, you know, watching
him have a smile onness face and be a part
of this is amazing. And not only that, but we
launched our first session this June. I think we have
about twenty to forty speech pathologists around the country nice
that's going to come and learn this. You know, we
(16:03):
have a big thing in Phoenix, Arizona earlier this this
May with a golf event and get to go share
people about what we're doing here in Colorado. And you know,
it's just been it's been a very humbling experience for me.
You know, I don't just play football just because I
love it. I played football because I get to get
back to the people that have helped me along the way,
and I get to show my appreciation and I love
(16:24):
to so many people that has helped me and guided me.
And you know, I started in Utah with my foundation
and then well eventually brought it over here to Colorado.
And A launched it officially last year, and it's just
been a dream come true. And I'm beyond grateful. Like
the football is a great game and I love it dearly,
and I'm grateful that I have a name and image
here in this in this state. But it's a legacy
(16:47):
piece that means more to me. And it's for me
and my family to be able to establish a legacy
that people will realize, Like, you know, if Garrett can
say this and play football and do all these things,
why can I and I go live my dream. And
that's why I want to give back to the kids
here in Colorado.
Speaker 3 (17:04):
Very cool, give Gary bowls and studio.
Speaker 1 (17:06):
We'll get to one of the big reasons why you're here,
your partnership with the Kodiak Foundation. We'll get to that
coming up here in the next segment, but I wanted
to I don't know if you saw the news today,
but ownership the Penners Walton's actually I think this case
is just Greg and Carey. They invested forty percent, they
acquired forty percent of the Colorado Rockies. I guess your
(17:26):
experience with them with the Broncos, what do you think
that means for Rockies fans.
Speaker 4 (17:30):
When some win some basebook, that'd be good, you know.
Speaker 5 (17:36):
I mean, obviously, you know the owner is actually a
Utah alumni, so you know, I've got to meet him
a couple of times. We've got to know about him,
and I get it. Man. You know, every team goes
through rough patches. We've gone through rough patches obviously. The
last two years we've established back to our winning ways.
And before coach Payton took over, I mean, we weren't
winning many games. Like I tell people, I think I
(17:57):
won like maybe ten games in five years, maybe maybe
twelve games.
Speaker 4 (18:01):
I won more.
Speaker 5 (18:01):
Games this year than I did in my first three years.
So but no, it's I'm excited. I mean, you never
want to see a home team like that, just struggle
and fall apart. But like if you talk to people,
I have friends that are baseball players, like they love
playing in Denver. The ball fly is farther, they can
hit home runs. The pitchings bet. I mean, it's not
really a pitching game. But if you can throw heat,
(18:23):
I mean you can you can strike out a lot
of people here. The balls flying faster. But the ballpark's amazing.
I mean, it's one of the best. I mean it's
not the best. I mean it's easily top four baseball
park in the country in my opinion. And I like
baseball game. You just sit there and have a little
hot dog and have a little I love lemonade, so
I always drink a lemonade and just sit there and relax,
(18:44):
and you know, watch them.
Speaker 4 (18:45):
I mean they're athletes, they really are.
Speaker 5 (18:47):
I mean, now they took away some things and you
could just see more guys being athletes making plays. And
you know, the shifting rule, you don't see that as
much anymore. You see real athletes. And so seeing that
and seeing our owners what they've done to us, I
mean I can imagine what they're going to do to
that program. And watch the Rockies get back to it.
I mean I don't even think they made the playoffs.
And what fifty ten years twelve, it's not been quite
(19:08):
that long, but it's it's been a minute. It has
it been a minute. It's been about a decade, right,
as long as I've been a little less.
Speaker 3 (19:15):
Just as little. Well, they lost one hundred nineteen games
last year.
Speaker 4 (19:18):
I mean that's not very good. That's not very good.
Speaker 5 (19:20):
I mean, that's that's bad. I mean that is bad,
but we have players. Like, it's not like we don't
have players. I mean, obviously we got Rid a story
that was sad to see him go. I mean he's
balling with the with the Red So he's with the
Red Sox. Yeah, he's balling over there, which he was
still with us. But like, if we just establish ourselves,
fix our minor leagues, get some players in there that
(19:41):
can come play, I mean, let's be real. I mean
the Venezuelans and Dominicans are dominating the NLB right now anyway.
I mean it's it's turned into that feeder program. I
mean you go to Dominicans. I mean kids are picking
up baseballs, are five years old, throwing you know, thirty
forty miles an hour when they're in ten u. You know,
it's crazy. I mean just go look at their hands.
I mean they're just built for baseball. But you know,
(20:03):
watching the World Classic this year was really cool to
see that.
Speaker 4 (20:06):
It was fun.
Speaker 5 (20:06):
That was but we just needed to win. And I
think when they win, I mean, this is a sports town.
I mean, anyone that lives here and knows that Colorado
is a sportstown and it's not the biggest Sportstown. But
it really is one of the biggest in the country
in my opinion. You know, it's not going to be
in New York or LA, but you know it's right
up there, and it's just cool to be. Washington Abas
do the thing, Washington Nuggets do the thing.
Speaker 4 (20:27):
You know.
Speaker 5 (20:27):
Obviously we're doing our thing. We get the Rockies rocking.
It's going to be a fun time to be in Colorado.
Speaker 3 (20:32):
No doubt about it.
Speaker 1 (20:33):
All Right, So we come back continue with Garrett Bowls
and Studio. We'll talk about one of the reasons why
we're here, the amount of money you're able to raise
this year. Well, I guess your team, your offense was
able to raise this year to the Kodiak Foundation.
Speaker 3 (20:46):
We'll get to that coming up next.
Speaker 6 (20:52):
The US Center Ron are getting set for the first
high level meeting since nineteen seventy nine.
Speaker 3 (20:57):

Meanwhile, President Trump.
Speaker 6 (21:09):
Said that Iran is doing a very poor job of
allowing oil to pass through the Strait of Horne Moose
as only nineteen vessels have gone through the waterway in
the three days since the ceasefire was announced.
Speaker 4 (21:22):
Prior to this, more than one.
Speaker 6 (21:23):
Hundred and thirty ships went through the strait every day.
Colorado Springs mayor Jemmy Mobilte has named former mayoral opponent
Wayne Williams as his chief of staff. Williams says taking
the job as not an endorsement of the mayor's reelection.
Speaker 7 (21:38):
The chief of staff stays neutral in election races. I'm
not here as part of the campaign. I am here
to help run the city, to help deliver on promises
to voters, and to make this the best city I can.
Speaker 6 (21:50):
Williams, a former city councilman in Colorado's Secretary of State,
officially begins the job on April twentieth. Guenela Pass is
opening much earlier than usual after low snow levels allowed
crews to clear the pass that runs through Clear, Creek

When are we playing hoops that we're going to go
one on one like we did when we talk No,
we're not gonna win one. We talked about just having
a horse horse contest, yea yea yeah. Let me just
help you.
Speaker 4 (23:51):
I'm in well, okay, I don't take you challenge. You
have a lot more money.
Speaker 2 (23:55):
What I don't take down any challenge. Okay, I can't
be it can be a baby, can be afraid. Your
money spends. So whatever you can afford to lose, let's
let's do it.
Speaker 5 (24:03):
You you tell me we'll go. We'll go one hundred
dollars a game. We can do that too. Seriously, why
not let's go five hundred games?
Speaker 4 (24:09):
Okay?
Speaker 1 (24:09):
Bet On the text line coach logan chirpet of bulls.
Speaker 3 (24:26):
Like he's Larry Bird.
Speaker 2 (24:27):
Another one said I better I better start to wear
flannel because I just got punked by Garrett. My response
to that back to the texture, and I say this lovingly,
of course, is punk this.
Speaker 3 (24:38):
I about that flannel into this.
Speaker 4 (24:42):
Gotta include you somehow somewha is that flannel by the.
Speaker 3 (24:44):
Way, flannel? Congratulations?
Speaker 2 (24:47):
Hey he wears flannel every single day? And do you
wear a vest every day under armour?
Speaker 4 (24:53):
No? Not every day? Pretty close? It was clean. It
was clean.
Speaker 5 (24:56):
You wear at least a long sleeve shirt and a
vest in the summer. I didn't wear a vest every day.
I've worn it a couple of times, every time it
was Friday. Yeah, you wear a vest every fi.
Speaker 2 (25:06):
I'm not gonna come out there like in a headband
and jeans shorts.
Speaker 5 (25:10):
You could come in some jeans and a nice polo. Shit,
why I'm not worrying? Just says, you know, what is
it called Cherry Creek with the you know bear claw?
Speaker 4 (25:19):
Okay? What's legends? Mascot Titans? Okay? Yeah.
Speaker 2 (25:26):
Everywhere we go people so we tell them it's good. Yeah,
great movie. But I love that great bat movie movie.
It could be the all time greatest sports movie.
Speaker 1 (25:41):
We go Garre Bowls the studio and of course, if
you've been listening to the segments over the course of
the year, you're on Tuesdays at three o'clock. We talked
a lot about the Kodiak Foundation. Now this is this
is a cool thing. Your offense four hundred and thirty
four points, and so the Kodiak Foundation donated seventy two
dollars for each offensive point thirty one thousand.
Speaker 3 (25:59):
Two hundred forty eight dollars.
Speaker 1 (26:01):
That's so good that we're handing you and GiB three
foundation today.
Speaker 3 (26:04):
How cool is that?
Speaker 5 (26:05):
It's uh, man, I might I'm gonna even might hear
me cry listen, it's uh. I'm grateful for this partnership.
It's been one of my favorites that I've had ever
since I've been here. Get to talk to you guys
every Tuesday. Get to know the Kodiak and you know
all the what they do, the amazing thats they do
in this community, the family behind behind that business I
(26:28):
got to meet today, truly blessed and and I'm just
so grateful for them. And you know, their their partnership
and their love that they have for my foundation and
the things that we can do together. You know, this
is this is what it's about. It's about, you know,
three people coming together and and helping out the community
as best as we can. And you know, without them,
(26:49):
you know this is going to go towards so many
great things.
Speaker 4 (26:52):
I'm beyond grateful.
Speaker 5 (26:53):
I'm grateful for you guys to I get to talk
to you guys every week, and just the love that
I have for you know, Koa and you know, the
mazenness that gets to no day for the last a
decade now employ years, right, getting old like you dad, Hey,
not that old, I mean just kidding, but no, just
you guys and the love that I have for you guys,
and the mazenness you guys do in this community even
(27:14):
though we might you know, bigger about Cherry creeking legend,
that's okay, still love them to death, but no, just
the Kodiak family and all the love that I have
for them. And I'm just beyond grateful.
Speaker 2 (27:24):
And let me let me ask a question because I
brought up how good I think this team is and
has been for a long time in terms of getting
players out into the community. I mean, do you do
you guys talk about that? I mean, I don't even know,
like in a locker room setting, do you guys talk
about like hey, because I mean there's a lot of
(27:45):
guys that do a variety of things in the community,
and that is not always the case for every NFL team.
Speaker 5 (27:52):
No, Like I said, it's it's our community department. It's
they put up aboard every single week about what the
things that we're doing that are that's happening, and uh,
guys just sign up and guys want to be about it.
Every Friday, you know, as you walk towards our cars
as we leave a little bit early, Olivia, Liz, they're
all there, want to talk to us, want to ask
(28:14):
us about what it's interest to us. You know, if
it's my cosmic leads, if it's you know, boys and
Girls club, if it's to go visit the veterans, if
it's the children's hospital, people show up and you know,
I think it's important. And every rookie class puts in
work and they truly do. I mean this past year's
rookie class dominated the year before that was Frank Crumb
and and what they do and just the they're just
(28:37):
they're just winners. And you know it obviously, you know
the old line room all the young guys showed great
support to the community. And you know, I think I
think we're the best position group that shows the most
love to the community. But we also have a coach
that did it. And you know, just it's the it's
the business things that you find. It's the relationships that
you build. You never know when you need something down
(28:58):
the road and you go to these things and you
get to network and get to share your stories and
people fall in love with you, and you know that
what's about it, It's bigger than football. Like I said,
it's it's about the passion the love for the kids
that are in our communities. And you know, it's a
humble experience because when you go into these places and
you see these kids that literally have nothing, or they've
been in an accident, or you know, they their parents
(29:21):
live at the Ronald McDonald's house and they're you know,
they've been in hospitals and they have you know, ports
and they're suffering from cancer, or you know, kids that
have a learning disability they are bullied at school and
you get to go to school and talk to them,
or like kids like my son, they can't talk and
can't speak, and you find these kids that are in
our communities and it just breaks your heart. Or kids
with you know, down syndrome or you know a praxy
(29:43):
or you know, even autism, Like all these kids that
just come out of this world and this is what
they have to deal with, and it's a challenge, it's
a mountain that they have to climb. And you know,
we're fortunate enough to have a healthy body and a
healthy mindset and we get to put our money back
to those type of kids and those type of families
and bless those families with something bigger than ourselves. And
that's what it's about. And you know, that's that's who
(30:04):
my family is, and that's who this organization is, the Broncos.
And you know it's not just me, it's all my teammates,
and I'm beyond grateful to be a part of such
a great team and a great organization like the Broncos.
Speaker 3 (30:16):
One hundred percent.
Speaker 1 (30:17):
Well, and again, as you're speaking there, it seems like
everything that you were saying really kind of aligns with
Kodiak Foundation.
Speaker 3 (30:22):
We obviously talked about them a lot during the course
of the year.
Speaker 1 (30:25):
They're big on families, big on children, you know, helping
out children and certainly, like I said, people that really could.
Speaker 3 (30:31):
Use little help.
Speaker 1 (30:31):
So I think that's a big reason why you probably
did want to partner with them.
Speaker 4 (30:35):
Well, you guys do.
Speaker 5 (30:36):
I mean what you guys do in this community, you
two in this station, and just what you guys talk about,
and how professional you guys are, Like, those are the
type of people I want to be around. And you know,
when I wanted to turn my life around and change
my life, I had to find people that were bigger
than myselfs and guys that were professionals and what they
do on a daily basis. And those are my closest
people on my team. Those are my closest friends. And
(30:58):
I call you guys a friend. I call you guys family,
and I'm grateful I get to be here with you
guys today.
Speaker 4 (31:02):
Yeah, we've enjoyed it.
Speaker 1 (31:05):
I got one last one for you as we get
you out of the door. You mentioned for a moment,
Jalen Wattle. I know a lot of Broncs fans are
really excited about Jalen wat don't if you had a
chance to chat with him just yet. But because you
guys aren't really in the building until May fourth, But
the investment of a first and a third round pick,
and of course swapping the fourth and all that. That's
a big investment for that kind of player. What do
(31:25):
you think he brings to this team.
Speaker 5 (31:27):
I mean, George Payton doesn't do things unless he truly
knows what I mean, he knows what he's doing. I
mean the way that he built you know, the Vikings
back then, and then you take that piece away, you
see what the Vikings are going through. They're going through
some reugh patches right now. Luckily he's on our side.
Took him a couple of years to get. You know,
I don't want to say bad guys out of the building,
but just you know, guys that just aren't for the culture.
(31:48):
And now we have those guys in our room. And
you know, obviously there's going to be some guys that
you know, bicker here and there, but you know it's
on every organization. But Jalen Wattle is the stuff man.
I got to call him. He he called me I Mealy.
One of the t to my little man. Kingston wanted
to talk to my family, want to know about me. Obviously,
he was going to dinner with Bo and some of
the guys that were in town. I wish I was
here to go with them, but I was out training
(32:08):
and they they were here. He knew about me, and
those are the type of guys that we want on
our team. You know, he's going to be a leader.
I mean, obviously he fits in well with Courtland. I mean,
Courtland is just one of those good dudes that you
just love and want and want to cheer for. And
you know, he's family to me. I've known him for
what ten years, what nine years now, so you know
(32:28):
him and his wife are really close to me and
my wife, And you know, those are the type of guys.
You know, we're such a family and everyone hangs out,
everyone wants to play cards, everyone wants to go golfing,
and the coming together. I mean obviously, you know there's
all the teams that guys don't want to come back
to the off season and don't want to train here,
like we want to be here together.
Speaker 4 (32:45):
You know, we do.
Speaker 5 (32:46):
You know, we go to games together, we support the
other sports teams, and you know, having Jalen here and
having that smile obviously him and past the tannership of
close being there with Alabama, but those Alabama kids, man,
I mean they're they're they're just smart and they know
how to win. And you know, especially you know Jayla Watto,
pass A Taine Era or you know, they were on
the runs, you know with you know Tua and all
(33:07):
those guys. So having those type of guys here that
are just class sacked people that have a mentality of
winning and mentality of being the best. And you know, obviously,
you know there's what there's three teams. There's three college
teams that we have the most guys. There's Utah, there's Texas,
and this Alabama and Oklahoma. So if you take all
four of those programs.
Speaker 4 (33:27):
It's you got a bunch of guys, a bunch of dudes,
a bunch of guys, got a bunch.
Speaker 2 (33:30):
Of You've got one quick and before you go, Sean's
going to change out the play calling situation this year.
I don't know if offensive lineman necessarily worry too much
about that. I mean, teams I played on the past,
lineman just want to know, Okay, what's the play call
and who am I blocking? But when you when you
(33:50):
heard that news, what was maybe the first couple of
thoughts you had?
Speaker 5 (33:55):
Yeah, I mean, obviously you know sp has done it
for a long time, and for him to get rid
of the play callings not something that you do in
this league. I mean, he's obviously one of the most
offensive gurus in the NFL. I mean, it is what
it is. Stats don't lie, So for him to do that,
you would have to know. Like it was, it was
a change that he wanted to do for a while.
(34:15):
And you know, Davis Webb is super smart, smart savvy,
knows the offensive schemes, knows what players that put in
the right situation. It would be good for us. You know,
obviously having a younger guy like that with a young quarterback,
it's going to be good for BO. I know, they
have a great relationship and I'm looking forward to to
seeing that relationship grow. And you know, Bo is the
(34:37):
type of guy that you have to just let let
him do his thing. You know, he's he's smart and
he'll listen. But at the same time, he's he's gonna
he's gonna see things that most people don't see. I mean,
you see him in college making throws and I'll never
forget the first time he was in Denver. I was
he stepped up in the pocket and ran to the
right and threw off one foot and threw it back
to the left. I was like, dude, what in the world.
(34:58):
This is a rookie. This is crazy. Forty five yards.
I'm like, okay, dude, this dude's legit. And I don't
like the last person I saw throw that was. I mean,
that's what Russell Wilson. I mean, in his prime of
throwing the ball across the body and it goes fifty yards.
I mean, that's just who he is. He has that
ability to be one of the best to ever play.
And having a coach like Davis Webb that is very
(35:18):
well respected around here. He had a lot of job
things and to keep him here with us was great.
But I mean, nothing's going to change. The same offense,
maybe a little bit different terminology, but I think we're
going to score a lot more points. We're going to
be more you know, more discipline of what we do.
But at the same time, you know, get after teams
and do what from I mean, it starts with us
(35:38):
up front. We gotta we got to handle our business.
We did that last year. I mean obviously I thought
we were the best a line on football, and if
we continue to do that, the upsides for us. So
I'm excited to see what we do. You know, obviously
we have the right people in the building, the right coaches,
right at front office, right players, and those guy's limit
for the Orange and Blue.
Speaker 1 (35:56):
No doubt about it. Man, Well, fantastic season. Obviously, we're
all excited about this upcoming year. Four hundred and thirty
four offensive points. Let's see if you can top that
thirty one and forty eight dollars. So thanks to Kodiak Foundation.
Very cool, Garrett, thank you so much for your time.
Speaker 5 (36:12):
Man, appreciate your jus Man, thanks to Kodiak and everybody Kowa.
We love you guys, and just continue this partnership.
Speaker 3 (36:20):
I love it, boy, I'll tell you what.
Speaker 1 (36:26):
Man, as popular as you are, Dave, the text line
has got all of their support behind Garrett beating you
in basketball.
Speaker 4 (36:34):
Not all of it, not all of it.
Speaker 3 (36:36):
Did you find one? You find you find?
Speaker 4 (36:38):
Okay? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (36:39):
Well's I see of your family.
Speaker 2 (36:41):
I mean, listen, so at seventy years of age, I'm
not going to be able to dunk the ball like
a guy who is thirty whatever.
Speaker 4 (36:49):
Garrett is thirty two.
Speaker 2 (36:50):
So if it's going to be like a dunking contest,
then I'll just say right now, he's going to win.
Speaker 4 (36:56):
But listen, bro lost your mind.
Speaker 2 (37:01):
You think you think for one minute that he's gonna
beat me in like a regular game of horse, a
perimeter shooting game.
Speaker 3 (37:09):
No, I do not.
Speaker 4 (37:10):
Though you're on the right side.
Speaker 2 (37:12):
If you are on all all of you texters, listen, man, listen,
all of you texters.
Speaker 4 (37:17):
Your money spends too.
Speaker 2 (37:19):
If you think for one minute that an offensive lineman
is gonna beat me shooting the ball like from fifteen
feet from three point range in a game of horse.
I want all that smoke. I want all of it
if you bring it to me. If you are one
on one, he'd killed me.
Speaker 3 (37:39):
He killed me.
Speaker 2 (37:40):
Yeah, we go one on one and it was thirty
years ago and him today.
Speaker 4 (37:45):
I beat his brakesaws right, But I can't.
Speaker 2 (37:47):
I mean, come on, man, I mean I've had knee
surgery foot to foot. I mean no, I can't beat
him one to one, and I can't beat him in
a dunk contest.
Speaker 4 (37:54):
But let's not get this twisted about shooting the ball.
Speaker 2 (37:58):
If you can shoot the ball, you you're never gonna
lose that completely.
Speaker 1 (38:03):
That was That was a lot of fun to see
you two Uh, he must not know.
Speaker 3 (38:09):
Yeah, that's right, they must.
Speaker 4 (38:10):
That's it. I'm gonna shut up now.
Speaker 1 (38:11):
Yeah, and then this back talking continued. I like that,
but you guys have yeah, we do.
Speaker 2 (38:16):
He's uh, he's one of my favorite Broncos and I
see him every Friday going out does I uh do
the The bon Nick Show and the Sean Payton Show.
And so he's always coming over. And he loves you know,
he loves kids. He loves high school sports. He's affiliated
with the Legend High school football program, which is a
really good program. So he and his cousin was playing
(38:39):
for Skyridge in Utah, which is a really excellent program
just out of the Salt Lake area, great great football program,
and they beat us last year in the Utah and
so they were coming here to play us this year.
And this was the week before the game. He said,
you're you're gonna win. I don't even know who you're
playing this week, you're gonna win. And then next week
and he walked right up to me, sitting next week,
(39:01):
you're gonna get your break speat off. I'm like, oh, okay, okay,
yeah you think so, lets give us what I said. Well, listen,
your money spends, why don't we why don't we put.
Speaker 4 (39:10):
Some money on it? And then it's like, how much
can you afford?
Speaker 1 (39:12):
What?
Speaker 4 (39:13):
Whatever? Whatever you want to you know, so no, but
I love the guy, and I love him not so much.
I mean, he's an excellent player, but I love his
heart in what he gives back to the community.
Speaker 2 (39:23):
He genuinely loves this community, and he's great with kids
and always has been.
Speaker 4 (39:28):
So I got I got a lot of respect and
love for him, all right.
Speaker 1 (39:32):
Five six six hine zeros a kame a Common Spirit
health text line. Rick Luis gonna join us in studio.
Coming up, we have Jake Plumber of four thirty six
