Speaker 1 (00:00):
When do we go to our w NBA draft coverage?
(00:02):
Is that follow our show or is it?
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (00:05):
Does at supersede the five o'clock we got to show
loves to the grand view?
Speaker 3 (00:09):
Alum, there you got very early in this draft.
Speaker 4 (00:14):
Yeah, enter teammate Kiki Rice.
Speaker 5 (00:16):
Yeah, yeah, Champions National Champions is going to be the
first pick.
Speaker 3 (00:22):
Yeah, they know she's going to Dallas. Everyone, everyone kind
of assumes that. But after that, it's kind of it's
kind of why it's wide open. After that.
Speaker 5 (00:30):
Wow, w NBA. I'm sure Ben's gonna have a lot
of thought. Yeah, I see I see Yeah.
Speaker 4 (00:36):
There you going right now? Yeah, I see her too. Yep.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
Man.
Speaker 3 (00:41):
I just think the the the way that women's sports
is starting to finally get the recognition that they deserve.
I'm really happy about it because especially when you talk
about we talk about women's basketball and oh way, they
don't dunk, they don't do this, but you know what
they do. They play good fundamental basketball. They did and
if you have basketball fan, you enjoy watching women's basketball
(01:02):
because they you know, they run great sets, they do
everything fundamentally, right, you know what I mean? I just
I love what they stand for.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
One hundred percent.
Speaker 5 (01:12):
So well, I mean it doesn't quite have the the
buzz it had a few years ago when you had
oh boy, you had Angel Reese and Kaitlyn Clark and
that that was just so much fun. Yeah, this is
gonna be We'll see, We'll let you guys know. Lauren
Betts of course, local well, lets you know where she
(01:33):
ends up getting drafted.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
Here should be the top ten though, for sure, I'll
the top five.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
Sure, yeah, you know you can't no matter what you
think of people's foot speed or anything like that, you
can't replace hyde can't teach it, you know what I mean.
So it's something where you know, if you have a
talented player like that that has the size to be
a defensive presence, just by standing there alone, you can
develop the offensive game.
Speaker 4 (01:57):
You can't develop the hype game.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
So I think you know, she's a great prospect and
has a good long career ahead of her.
Speaker 5 (02:04):
So Rockies are off tonight, tough weekend, especially with Freelm
getting scratched yesterday.
Speaker 4 (02:10):
I mean, you're it's chances to win the first two games.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
Yes they did, right, yep?
Speaker 4 (02:15):
I mean there there head in the in the first
there there had three two.
Speaker 5 (02:19):
There were four nothing on the wasn't the second one
that they they were up because a Loniac had a
couple of homers and yeah, you're just like, all right,
this is this is better and then they kind of
fell apart, and unfortunately for the Rockies, there was a
lot of.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
The similar issues that we've seen in the past, and
I don't.
Speaker 5 (02:36):
Think that's necessarily indicative of what they were going to
be this year.
Speaker 4 (02:39):
But I don't know, David.
Speaker 5 (02:40):
Coming out of this frustrating weekend series, maybe they can
go back to sweeping the Astros over the next few days.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
That would be nice.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
Baseball is a long season.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
Even when they were in the midst of the four
game winning streak, you know there there's there's a game,
although not tonight, there's a game virtually every single day,
so you don't have time to feel sorry for yourselves.
You just you get ready to play another game.
Speaker 5 (03:03):
It's supposed to get jose Kntana back maybe Wednesday, which
is gonna help, especially if Freelans can be out for
a little bit. That's what such as Freedom's off to
such a great start season yep.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
So, and that's what worries you anytime anything like an elbow,
a shoulder, anything. Anytime you hear anything like that, you
worry is it a long term type injury? And you
really hope not because you know how much work these
guys put in and the excitement of the Rockies so far,
even though you know they're getting swept by the Padres.
(03:33):
But I believe that if they stay healthy. And this
is kind of where the problem is held.
Speaker 4 (03:38):
They have.
Speaker 3 (03:40):
Good starters throughout you know, their lineup and through the
pitching rotation. But then once you start dealing with injuries though,
then that's where it can kind of get scary for
the Rockies.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
Well, so it's gonna be a tough division.
Speaker 5 (03:52):
I mean, the fact is, whatever hope and optimism and
even when we talk to Walker Montfort and this kind
of last thing I'll say is we talked about noticeable
and movement, right like obvious improvement for the team. That's
what they want to see this year. He wasn't talking
about specific number of wins. He wasn't talking about playoffs.
And it's weird in some respect when you have conversations
about professional teams and you're not talking playoffs. You're not
(04:13):
especially like opening day beginning of the season. But I
think that there's a realistic expectation here. I would like
to see them very competitive in the division. I'd like
to see them winning some of these series. And I
think that goes without saying, but like even splaying with
the Podres would have probably gone a long way to
continuing some of that belief. You didn't have to win
the series against the Padres, but getting swept certainly impacts
(04:37):
a little bit of that momentum that you have.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
But again, got the Astros.
Speaker 5 (04:40):
Dave coming up here a few games, let's get back
at it.
Speaker 4 (04:43):
Yeah, I mean that's really all you can say.
Speaker 5 (04:47):
The nuggets, of course, we talked about them a little
bit in the first hour. We know they're going to play.
They're gona play Minesota here in the first round. Wanna
go back to something you mentioned when they were taken
on San Antonio last night. Antony really had a lot
to play for there. I mean that I do Vimber
not think. But because now they are going to see
ostensibly right, arguably, if the Spurs survived this first round
(05:08):
and then I gets survived this first round, well those
are the two teams they are going to play each other.
Speaker 4 (05:12):
But wimmen Yama did not play last night.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
He played in the previous game and had forty points, right,
and then he was a healthy scratch last night because
they were worried a little bit about his rib injury.
He played in the previous game, he had forty points.
So I don't know what them all the other dudes played.
They didn't play very well, But I really I was
watching the game thinking they certainly, I mean they're like
(05:38):
thirty they're like thirty four and three of the last
thirty seven or thirty seven and four, Three of those
losses have come to the Nuggets. Why would you want
to if you had a chance to avoid the Nuggets
in the second round, a team that, for whatever the reason,
may have your number, why would you want to by
(06:01):
losing a home game ensure that if both teams win
and their opening round, you guys are gonna go head
to head.
Speaker 4 (06:08):
Well, it doesn't make any sense.
Speaker 3 (06:09):
Well the idea. I see why they would do something
like that because women Yanna needed one more game to
qualify for the postseason awards, and you don't want to
do it against Joker, you know what I mean? Like that, like,
because how big and how physical Joker is, and he
has a rib issue. Hey, they they playing this out.
They said, we have three games, get him won, and
(06:31):
they said, all right, this is going to be the
game we're gonna then we're gonna give you extended rest
going into the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
And so it was definitely a decision they made. But
jokers played like twenty minutes. He didn't play it all
in the second half. Hey, all it takes is and elbows.
That is, if you're trying to make sure you don't
see the Nuggets unless you see him in the conference championship,
let the Nuggets in Oak City go beat each other
up in the semis. All you got to do is
(06:56):
win a home game. I'm playing win Binyama for twenty minutes.
But that's not what they did. So again, well we'll
see what happens.
Speaker 4 (07:07):
You know.
Speaker 1 (07:07):
I think there's gonna be some great basketball ahead. Is
there gonna be an upset in the first round? I
don't know. I think Atlanta could be a problem for
the Knicks. I think there's some I mean, the Celtics
have come on. What a great job they have done,
by and large without Jason Tatum the entire season. Now
he's back. I can't believe how quickly he got back
(07:30):
and they're gonna they're gonna be a problem in the
East for everybody. So I don't know, but oh, go ahead,
Well no.
Speaker 3 (07:37):
Maybe you do that because you're not afraid of the Nuggets.
Speaker 5 (07:40):
Maybe is this like, huh, why are you playing everybody else?
Speaker 4 (07:45):
Then?
Speaker 5 (07:45):
Like, if you're not afraid of the Nuggets, I think
the messages we're just gonna play our backups.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
But instead they played.
Speaker 5 (07:51):
Every league but women Yama, which made it seem like
they really intended to win that game. They just couldn't
against the Nuggets backups.
Speaker 3 (07:58):
Well, if they really wanted to try to really win
that game, women Yana, like you said, Womenyana plays, Yeah,
you know, you going to that game willing to you know,
live or die with whatever happens. You know, you're cool
with whatever happens that game. But they obviously had a plan.
They were going to make sure that women Yana gets
his you know, gets his postseason awards and you can
(08:20):
try to be a little healthier going into the playoffs.
Speaker 5 (08:22):
You want to hear something kind of quirky, so Vinetdranda,
who covers the Nuggets for the Denver Post. So there's
a reason why Nikola Jokic sat out the Friday game
but played the Spurs game instead.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
And this is I mean, this is indicative of of
kind of what Adam Silver has built here. He wrote.
Speaker 5 (08:39):
One key reason to Kola Jokic sat out Friday but
travel with the team to play against the Spurs is
the game was moved to National TV earlier in the week,
making the Nuggets subject to a player participation policy. Fine,
if Jokic and Murray both rested, h wow, so it
said so. So it might have been where Yokic played
(09:00):
because he needed he needed fifteen more minutes, right, he
needed to play some in order to qualify.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
For for post.
Speaker 4 (09:06):
I think he did not play twenty.
Speaker 2 (09:09):
Okay, well he needed a Yeah, I saw it. I
thought he saw him fifteen.
Speaker 5 (09:13):
You know, it could be right, but whatever, I mean,
the point is he had to play something so he
could have theoretically kind of like Victor wom Min Yama
did play on Friday and then not have to play
on Sunday. But the NBA has instituted this player participation policy. Fine,
where they already knew they were going to rest Umal Murray,
so they flipped it made Nikola Yokic play on Sunday anyways, kind.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
Of a silly deal.
Speaker 5 (09:37):
How uh, I don't know, Dave you you asked me
how I was feeling about Nuggets Minnesota.
Speaker 2 (09:42):
I called my shot.
Speaker 4 (09:43):
I already know how you you feel about it.
Speaker 2 (09:45):
I felt great. I feel great about that.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
If you if you grow up and you have an
affinity for a certain team or in your case, teams,
and you love Oak City and Minnesota, just just ride
him writing.
Speaker 4 (10:01):
Get out of the bus and write them.
Speaker 2 (10:03):
I feel like the Nuggets have figured out Minnesota.
Speaker 1 (10:07):
Well, then you're a little bit of a fair weather fan.
Speaker 4 (10:10):
Weather fan, you're a Minnesota guy.
Speaker 1 (10:12):
But now you're saying the Nuggets have figured out Minnesota.
Speaker 2 (10:15):
Well, they're also really banged up to Minnesota.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
Now you're a fair weather excuse making fan. What else
you got?
Speaker 2 (10:24):
You got you're gonna do better than Nuggets in six.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
I had much thought about the length of the series.
So it's it's it's two two one one one. I
thought it was it was a two three two, though
it was.
Speaker 4 (10:39):
Too I think it's two two one one one.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
You're right now, I think you're right. You're right.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
The leagues I think they were at one point two
three two, but they've they've been two to one one
one for a while. Yeah, two two, one one one, right, Yeah,
so I would I would say I think the Nuggets
(11:06):
will win both games at home. I think they'll split
in Minnesota that's three to one, and I think they
come home much like the Miami Series and the Championship
Series a couple of years ago. So I'm gonna say
the Nuggets in five.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
I'll say Nuggets in five. I did they split it home.
I think it'll be one in one by the time
they go to Minnesota. They'll they'll sweep them in Minnesota
and then come back and win it here. Okay, So
I definitely believe it'd be a situation where because I
definitely think a lot of other series could go to seven,
and I think it's a good situation where the Nuggets,
(11:42):
if they can get it in five, they can get
a little bit of rescue for the next series too.
Speaker 4 (11:47):
You know what I mean. With all the players, you.
Speaker 3 (11:49):
Have multiple players that have had or have hamstring issues.
Like those type of guys, it's tough for them to
go back to back to back. They're going to need
a little bit of time in between to rest and
I think if the Nuggets go out there and take
care of business right away and you know, don't play
with their food, They're going to have an opportunity for
their guys to get some rest in this series.
Speaker 5 (12:11):
Yeah, and going back very quickly, just for a moment
on with san Antonio. So now san Antonio is going
to have to go through the Nuggets theoretically and Oklahoma City. Yeah,
by the way, the Nuggets are going to have to
do that.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
At this point, san Antonio has dominated oak City this year.
Speaker 4 (12:28):
Yes, I mean it's.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
Been you know, I'm not saying Oklahoma City. Oklahoma City
is the is the favorite to win the title again,
and maybe they should be, maybe, but they haven't been
able to deal with san Antonio. So I mean, I
think I think the West is such a fascinating matchup,
(12:50):
and the Nuggets have been really good against San Antonio.
And you stop them thinking about it that home victory
on that Saturday, and the Nuggets are down twelve starting
the fourth and still many used to hang in there
and make enough plays get it into overtime and ultimately
win it. So you know, as long as Murray and
Jokic stay healthy, then and I said it in December.
(13:12):
I think the Nuggets are going to the NBA Finals the.
Speaker 3 (13:16):
Only team with a positive winning record against the Oklahoma
City Thunder San Antonio Spurs. They're four and one, and
so I don't think the Spurs are going to be
afraid of anyone. I think that's what people have to realize, Like,
no one's really this Oklahoma City team is a good team.
Speaker 1 (13:34):
Not if you get that praying mantis in the back
of your defense exactly.
Speaker 3 (13:39):
Santoia is not afraid of anyone. They're gonna go out there,
and I think this would be good for if they
do somehow pull it through against the Nuggets in Oklahoma City,
you're gonna start talking about how this was probably a
memorable playoff run for them, but they're going to be
banged up going through that, and so you gotta and
the Nuggets are wanted to do it too. The Nuggets
have to go through the Spurs and the Thunder to
(14:02):
get to the championship, So it's gonna be interesting. I
think it's gonna be a wild ride. But I liked
the Anothers chances more, not like the Spurs Nico. I mean,
if you have the best player in the NBA. More
likely people are going to assume that you have a
better chance to win.
Speaker 5 (14:19):
All right, five six, six nine Zeros or KWA Comma
Sprudal text Lin Nuggets actually have the fourth best chances
to win the championship.
Speaker 2 (14:26):
I believe. I think it's okay.
Speaker 5 (14:27):
See San Antonio, than the Boston and then the Nuggets
last I looked, So.
Speaker 1 (14:34):
People must have watched the last bit of the NBA
season since December. Yes, some others haven't. Oh well, hold on,
I would I wouldn't. Why would you think I was
inferring It was you?
Speaker 5 (14:46):
I just said. Some others obviously haven't watched as much. Well,
finishing the season on a twelve game winning streak. This
this team is brimming with confidence, and they might get
Peyton Watson back for this this run here.
Speaker 1 (14:58):
I think they I think they need him, Yeah, I
mean for sure. You know, maybe maybe he didn't come
back when he played when Jokic was injured. I mean
he started to really start as he started to play
with confidence offensively, so his shot was fallowing because he
didn't worry about I mean, they weren't supposed to win
too much. They went They won ten out of sixteen games.
(15:21):
But Yokich just sitting so you're just trying to hang on.
But even if his shot after this layoff again, his
second layoff, if his shot is not falling, if he's
right physically, he's a pain in the ass. On defense,
He's a long wing defender that you can match him
(15:43):
up against, you know, Anthony Edwards, you can match him
up against SGA. He takes some pressure off of Gordon.
You don't have to put Gordon on every tough cover
all the time. So I mean, Peyton Watson to me
is a real in terms of his overall health. You
(16:03):
just got to assume that he's not going to be healthy.
Those hands, I'm not going to do that show. I'm
just say, like those hamstrings, are you heard yours today?
Speaker 4 (16:13):
Now?
Speaker 2 (16:13):
I got a call.
Speaker 4 (16:17):
That on me. No, no, no, didn't you? Did you
tweak your handy?
Speaker 3 (16:19):
No?
Speaker 4 (16:20):
Did it tighten up?
Speaker 3 (16:21):
No? Okay, But what I will say maybe it was
my handy, It could have been, but no, Well, what
I will say those hammies can be.
Speaker 4 (16:27):
A long term issue. That's right, Guys.
Speaker 1 (16:31):
When that when maybe it starts to tighten up, they
don't do what I did, Like you know, I'm run
up these stairs and then I actually tweaked.
Speaker 4 (16:39):
They stopt to stop. Stop. You know, you got to stop.
Speaker 5 (16:45):
It's just you know, as you get older, you learn,
right I I I seemingly pull hamstring.
Speaker 4 (16:52):
Squads with the toilet activity.
Speaker 2 (16:57):
I will either confirm or to die.
Speaker 5 (16:58):
But I will say that that changing the tire last
week left me very sore for about four days.
Speaker 2 (17:06):
Back was a little sore, a little low back was sore.
Put it back clause.
Speaker 4 (17:10):
That's when you tell the wife, you know, changed the tire, tire.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
I can't do that, you know. She was working in
the backyard of the weekend. I was like, I can't
make that corn beef fash.
Speaker 4 (17:19):
I can't do it. You guys like corn beef? I do?
I love it? You know what.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
I was actually thinking about it the other day. I've
never actually tried it.
Speaker 4 (17:26):
Seriously, you never had cornby fash? No, because I'm a
corn beef freaks me out.
Speaker 3 (17:32):
Okay, because you don't know what it is. I don't know,
and so I'm just not going to eat anything. I
just if I don't know what it is.
Speaker 2 (17:38):
It's like brisket. Why are you starting to me like that?
Speaker 1 (17:43):
He's actually right, It's like Brian Brisket. It's in the
It's in the Brisket family, is it really, It's like
a cousin.
Speaker 5 (17:49):
Yeah, just kind of pickled and yeah, you learn every
day you want to hear a Banana's stat that is
uh where the NBA is. They're in this kind of
weird have and have not have nots portion of their
their history. This is the first season in NBA history
with eight teams having fifty five or more losses. The
(18:13):
first season. In fact, all the teams in the West
that were eliminated that that didn't make the postseason all
had more than fifty five losses. New Orleans, Dallas, Memphis, Sacramento,
and Utah. I mean Utah and Sacramento has sixty losses, yes,
and then you had Washington at sixty three, Pacers had
sixty three, in Brooklyn had sixty two.
Speaker 4 (18:35):
Well you knew the Pacers because of the injury situation.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
Alberton and the Bucks had fifty and simultaneously.
Speaker 5 (18:42):
By the way, this is the first time in NBA
history that we've had five teams average over one hundred
and nineteen points per game. Nuggets, Heat, Spurs, Cavs, and
Thunder all over one hundred nineteen. So you have this
one group that's doing something that's never been done before,
and then you have another group of teams. Is that
I mean, I guess it's just where we're at, and
maybe that's part of the reason why the NBA is
(19:03):
freaking out. So which about tanking? When you got eight
teams with fifty five or more losses.
Speaker 4 (19:07):
I think they'll have to do something. I haven't given
a much thought.
Speaker 1 (19:11):
I don't know exactly what that is, but you're going
to have to come up with some sort of incentive
where teams don't do that as readily as what we.
Speaker 3 (19:22):
Saw this year. Yeah, but I just don't know what
it could be. You've been talking about tanking for years
with the NBA, and I don't know. Maybe if you
did the draft live, I mean the Draft lottery live,
and you know you didn't secretly had his first fix
to the teams behind closed doors, then then he might
solve the tanking thing. Because you see these teams with
(19:44):
the you know, most losses when they end up with
the number three pick every years, that's.
Speaker 4 (19:50):
What it is.
Speaker 3 (19:50):
They have to find a different way of doing the
draft lottery. I think that's the only way you want
to figure out the tanking issues because team says, no,
my chance is obviously winning. You know, winning number one
pick is a lot higher if we just give it up.
You can't do it how the NFL does it, because
then he would literally justify everything. All these teams are doing. Yeah,
our worst, worst loss record. So it's a it's a
(20:12):
really tough you know, they're in a really tough situation
right here because there's really no clear answer, and no
one has the answer either.
Speaker 4 (20:20):
Grand Views owned, Yes, sir, Top three was no? Did
you go fourth?
Speaker 2 (20:25):
Fourth?
Speaker 4 (20:25):
Yeah? Fourth overall to the Washington mystics. Wait, wait, wait
is that this is Chicago?
Speaker 2 (20:33):
The next two?
Speaker 5 (20:33):
K Okay, good, yep, yeah, she uh six was seven man,
that's just incredible, Like it's one thing for like we
see basketb players all time.
Speaker 2 (20:45):
Six, we you see women seven six.
Speaker 1 (20:48):
Seven, Her sister's six four, her dad's seven to one,
her brother is seventh foot.
Speaker 4 (20:53):
Talk about you got size in that family. That's remarkable.
Speaker 5 (20:57):
Well, congratulations to Lauren Betts is a grand View Zone
and national champion with u c L.
Speaker 2 (21:03):
A didn't drafted fourth overall moments ago?
Speaker 5 (21:06):
Do you guys see a keep to Leap called a
shot again that the Broncos are going to make another
big trade. Yeah, because he called a shot on Jaylen Wattle,
did he? Yeah, Like the day before it happened, he
was on Skip Bayless's show or whatever.
Speaker 4 (21:22):
That's their show.
Speaker 3 (21:24):
Well it hit Wait, No, that's their their show. That's
their show. Is a keep and Skip in the arena?
Speaker 2 (21:30):
You can't.
Speaker 4 (21:30):
Yeah, that's that's their show.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (21:32):
Well anyways, so on that show, he had said that
the Broncos are getting ready to make a big trade,
and he mentioned that Jayalen Wattle was was one of
the names. He's here and then of course j then
and here's what he here's what he said. Uh, I
think it was on Friday.
Speaker 1 (21:47):
I keep waiting for the bomb shield to drop because
this man across from me over here keeps saying Denver
is going to make another big move, and I keep waiting.
Speaker 2 (21:55):
It might be way, oh yeah, it might be.
Speaker 4 (22:01):
Maybe they're just getting gunshine.
Speaker 2 (22:03):
Then come on, come on, you don't believe.
Speaker 4 (22:06):
They don't believe me. They don't believe he's.
Speaker 2 (22:09):
Getting I do, and I'm dreading about to happen. It
might be on Draft Day that.
Speaker 5 (22:16):
Who could it be I just the only thing and
I listened, you're you're one for one, so I would
love for you to be two for two.
Speaker 2 (22:24):
We talked about it a little bit earlier day.
Speaker 5 (22:26):
I just don't know what kind of splash move they
would make on draft to night, especially with limited picks,
premium picks.
Speaker 2 (22:35):
They have seven picks still, but you don't have a
first and a third, So.
Speaker 4 (22:42):
I think.
Speaker 1 (22:45):
I think if they made a move, I would say
it would be a move for a tight end.
Speaker 3 (22:54):
Hm hmm.
Speaker 4 (22:55):
Interesting take.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
That is interesting.
Speaker 5 (23:00):
If they make a move, it'd be so like a
trade for a tight end or a trade up to
draft a tight end. Previously, enterstatement, you're not gonna get
specific though, You're not you're not gonna call your shots specifically.
Speaker 4 (23:12):
Well, you don't have many assets to I just called it, okay.
Speaker 3 (23:16):
You know, it could be a person we've been talking
about all season possibly get traded. You know, it's it's
it's a lot of things that could happen. But I'm
very into now that I've been told that that Keeps
caught a shot the first one. I wonder how good
his intel is.
Speaker 5 (23:31):
I wonder if if Howie Roseman the Philadelphia Eagles would
be interested in partying with Dallas Goddard for a fourth rounder.
Speaker 4 (23:42):
I don't I don't know.
Speaker 2 (23:44):
Just throw out there, Wow, you're not gonna get kings
cidik Right.
Speaker 5 (23:49):
That's like there was a moment there where the Broncos
fans were zeroed in in the first round when they
had a first round pick, like, oh, wouldn't it be
great at the organ tight end Kenyon City.
Speaker 4 (23:58):
You're not gonna get that guy.
Speaker 1 (24:00):
Well, even if he had thirty, Yeah, he's probably not
gonna He's not Probably he's not going to be there
at the third time.
Speaker 4 (24:06):
So that would require some heavy lifting for sure.
Speaker 5 (24:11):
So then you could either take whatever's there available to
sixty two. You could package one of your fourths or
maybe even both your fourths and move up in the
second round.
Speaker 2 (24:21):
That will probably get you, I don't know, ten or
fifty more picks up.
Speaker 4 (24:26):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (24:27):
If Eli Stowers, we talked about him the other day
that he's he's a little bit more of a big
receiver more so than a complete tight end.
Speaker 2 (24:35):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (24:35):
I feel like if you're going to make a swing
on drafting, i's got to be probably for a vet
tight end more so than there. And I like this
this draft class, don't get me wrong, and just that
seems like more rather than a project tight.
Speaker 4 (24:48):
End, I guess.
Speaker 2 (24:50):
But I guess you're not going to give me anything,
are you?
Speaker 1 (24:51):
No, I would say that, no, you're I think your
perspective is that it would be accurate, right, I mean,
you'd want a guy that could come in and and.
Speaker 4 (25:07):
And deliver the goods like right away.
Speaker 3 (25:10):
Now.
Speaker 1 (25:10):
Maybe, but maybe they view a couple of these young
cats as being all that able to come in. So
that would be my That would be my guess in
terms of the Broncos swinging a deal.
Speaker 4 (25:27):
Yeah yeah.
Speaker 5 (25:27):
Jeff leg while the other day talking about the quote
unquote needs of the Broncos coming out of the draft,
and he said, tight ends the number one as far
as he's concerned.
Speaker 4 (25:35):
I think number one.
Speaker 3 (25:36):
Right, maybe you start to get out of Evan Ingram
what you thought you weren't get in the first place.
You know, the idea of I hate saying this over
and over again, of this joker tight end that's you know,
able to do a lot of what Sean Payton wants
to do, and you know it's not the easiest offense
to go and learn right away and to find your spots.
(25:57):
And so I think, you know, don't give up what
An Ingram because he has shown that he can give
you big plays here and there as a tight end
with his speed. So you know, maybe this is a
year that they finally you know, that he breaks out
and has that year that has been expected from him
his whole career.
Speaker 1 (26:14):
I think the one thing that Evan Ingram has going
for him is he can still run. I mean, even
at this stage of his career when a lot of
guys start to lose a step, he can run.
Speaker 3 (26:27):
Now.
Speaker 4 (26:28):
Is he everything that you want.
Speaker 1 (26:32):
In terms of getting into and out of breaks and
his understanding of a lot of that stuff. Not sure,
but you know you you can't. As Shelby was talking about,
you can't coach height. You also can't coach speed, and
he's got speed for sure.
Speaker 5 (26:54):
But I think what we talked about this entire offseason
was the Broncos are lacking an all around tight end,
right that has because like I mentioned Dallas Goddard, you know,
I think David and Jokuh's a free agent is another
example of that kind of all around can block, can catch,
you're not tipping your hand when he's on the field,
and I mean those disrespect to having Ingram.
Speaker 2 (27:12):
That's just not what he's expected to do.
Speaker 5 (27:14):
He's not expected to be a full time tied end
in the way he blocks or the play runs through him.
Speaker 2 (27:20):
If you're running the ball that direction, he's in there
to catch the ball.
Speaker 4 (27:23):
Yeah, I don't know that he's blocking though.
Speaker 1 (27:25):
Would be the if, let's just say, if the organization,
and you could say this about every single player, if
the organization could change one thing about every player, what
would that one thing be. I don't think it necessarily
in this particular case for Ingram, would be we've got
(27:49):
to fix his blocking.
Speaker 4 (27:50):
If you had one thing to change, I don't think
that would be it. Would it be?
Speaker 5 (27:57):
Okay, Well, I guess I have now I have a
lot of questions about that. It would like, what would
that one be thing be? Because I don't hit a
couple of drops last year, but I don't remember that
being like the biggest detriment of his game. It just
felt like he wasn't involved in the plays. Like whether
that's on him or that's on the coaching staff, he
just wasn't a factor in so many the game plans.
Speaker 4 (28:18):
Yeah, I don't disagree with that either.
Speaker 1 (28:20):
I mean, I think, and I think from Evans standpoint,
you're probably saying, hey, how can I show you what
what I can do? If I don't factor in a
bit more, it becomes, you know, sort of the chicken
in the egg scenario at that point.
Speaker 4 (28:36):
But I think teams.
Speaker 1 (28:38):
Teams went out on that because they have I mean,
they develop opinions on players, every single player. What does
this guy do that we really like and how can
we incorporate that? And what we do what does he
do that it's pretty average, and maybe there's two things
that he does that.
Speaker 4 (28:57):
We don't like.
Speaker 1 (28:58):
We can't live with that, so you try to minimize
the positions you put him in. But speed would not
be If you could change one thing about Evan Ingram,
my guess would be him understanding what the route is
called for, what what what he's called to do, and
being able to get into and out of option routes.
Speaker 4 (29:23):
That would be my guess. Uh.
Speaker 1 (29:25):
And again, that dude can run. I mean, he can
do a lot of things. He he's still got I
think excellent football left in him.
Speaker 2 (29:33):
Ben, how are you miserable? I mean, that's just your
typical oh yeah.
Speaker 6 (29:40):
Yeah, so you used to ask a typical homeostasis.
Speaker 4 (29:44):
Comes down to with you? I think the degree of
mis right degree in christivity. Yeah yeah, I'm.
Speaker 2 (29:50):
I'm in a little more pain than normal.
Speaker 6 (29:51):
I burn my hand like an idiot last night on
a skillet.
Speaker 5 (29:53):
So so I imagine you're going to talk about it.
I mean you've been talking about the weight loss things,
so I imagine you can spend the next.
Speaker 6 (30:00):
We're gonna get thirty minutes in on my burnt hand.
Speaker 2 (30:03):
You're like Michael Scott step on a waffle iron.
Speaker 4 (30:09):
Hey, ro was like talking about that as I walked
in there.
Speaker 2 (30:11):
Yeah, I mean that's what it feels like, is like,
is like Michael Scott step on a waffle iron?
Speaker 4 (30:16):
Like why would I put a waffle iron down near
the foot of my bead.
Speaker 2 (30:19):
Like to smell the I don't know, bacon, you want
to wake up?
Speaker 4 (30:21):
Do you want to wake up to the smell of
the waffles?
Speaker 6 (30:24):
Go get a waffle for breeze diffuser or something.
Speaker 2 (30:27):
If that's the case, what do you guys have coming
up on the show. I was just gonna start getting
in it.
Speaker 4 (30:31):
Well, I want to get to this taleb thing a
little bit.
Speaker 6 (30:32):
You know the commentary that he's talking about another move
and all that, and we're gonna steer towards the.
Speaker 4 (30:36):
To You agree with that or no?
Speaker 2 (30:38):
Do I think they're going to make a move, that's
my question.
Speaker 1 (30:41):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (30:42):
Do I think it's outside the organization move?
Speaker 4 (30:44):
No, we'll sing between the lines. Outside the organize. Do
I think they're going to move up in the draft? Yes?
Speaker 3 (30:51):
I do.
Speaker 4 (30:52):
Do I think they're going to move into the first round?
No I don't.
Speaker 5 (30:55):
Oh, okay, so move up in the second round. Yes,
we'll see, but not but we were talking about a trade. Oh,
outside the organization? Maybe, I mean maybe Kyle Pitts is available.
I will say that brand new head coach. Leave it
at that, brand new head coach of brand new coach. No,
(31:15):
not married to him. Matt Ryan's working as a GM
right there.
Speaker 2 (31:19):
Kyle Pitts is available.
Speaker 6 (31:20):
So if there is an outside that would be that
would be the name I put at the top of
the list.
Speaker 2 (31:24):
Well, you did.
Speaker 4 (31:25):
I did talk to.
Speaker 1 (31:29):
The coach that coached Kyle Pitts at least for a
while in college and said, before Kyle Pitts was drafted,
this guy is the freakiest athlete that he's ever been around,
and this guy is coached in the NFL and out
(31:50):
of the NFL for ever. He said, I'm talking about
there's I don't think there's ever been an athlete better
at that position ever in the NFL.
Speaker 4 (32:03):
Like wow, Okay, the other side of that, I mean,
he's just twenty five now, yeah, he was young when
he came in.
Speaker 3 (32:10):
So but also we keep talking about this idea and
this idea of commsated the idea of Kyle Pitts because
he has not been used correctly yet. So it's still
an idea of what we expect from him based off
of these insanely freaky athletic trace that he has. But
(32:34):
until somebody actually uses him the right way, it's still
just going to continue to be in.
Speaker 4 (32:39):
The talk just like this.
Speaker 6 (32:40):
You know who's got a history of turning freaky athletic
tight ends into Pro bowlers and All pros, So Sean Payton,
I think he did. The other a guy named Jimmy Graham,
Jeremy Shock.
Speaker 4 (32:50):
He was an All Pro with him, Evan Ingram and
who is it which one that Watson was an All
Pro tight end?
Speaker 1 (32:57):
But he but he also had I mean he had
was it a full season, he puts some pretty pretty
impressive numbers up for Atlanta, and now he was inconsistent.
I can't remember if he got nick I think he
did get hurt at one point, but didn't he did
he not.
Speaker 4 (33:11):
Have a full season, or maybe it was a spress.
Speaker 3 (33:13):
Yeah, eighty eight catches for nine and twenty eight yards
for five touchdowns. Okay, that was his best season of
his career. Okay, would you take his rookie year? Yeah,
one thousand yards but one touchdown? Maybe maybe that's maybe
that's it. I mean, eighty eight catches at the tight
end spot.
Speaker 4 (33:34):
I think you absolutely take that. You take that in
a heartbeat.
Speaker 2 (33:37):
Would you trade a second rounder for that kind of production?
Speaker 4 (33:41):
I want?
Speaker 1 (33:41):
I'd want to look into him and make sure. I
want to get a guy who loves it and is
going to come in and say, hey, you know what
didn't work out for He's a fourth I think the
fourth pick for all the first round, so for whatever reason,
didn't work out. But I'm here to tell you if
you trade for me, I'm going to be here ten
years and make you absolutely certain you get the right guy.
(34:03):
I want that kind of mindset, and if I have
that kind of mindset.
Speaker 3 (34:09):
Probably Well, just don't forget though. If you're trading for
Kyle Pitts, it's under the expectation that a deal and
a contract extension is coming.
Speaker 5 (34:19):
No.
Speaker 4 (34:19):
No, no, he's franchise tagged, franchise, franchise.
Speaker 3 (34:22):
Tag So the idea is, if you're going to trade
for me, that has to be coming with some type
of four four for sixty.
Speaker 4 (34:30):
That's what I want to talk to him first, ye
