Speaker 1 (00:00):
I just at to four o'clock.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
Welcome back, Dave Logan, Ryan and Chelby Harris.

Speaker 3 (00:03):
We're just looking at the TV screen and they are
projecting these starting five for the LA Clippers. Because Bradley
Beal got bought out today with the Phoenix Suns and
he's gonna go on a two year deal. I believe
it was to the LA Clippers. I don't know, man,
there was a moment that I liked. I like the
idea of Bradley, but when he is in Washington, I
was like, ya, he's a scorer, he's a true score.

(00:23):
He's got a great shot. But his years in Phoenix,
and of course he's hurt all the time, but it's
his time that the Phoenix was a major, major turn off.
I don't I don't know. That is a very aged team.
If you will, I'm not. I'm not buying the Clippers
after this move.

Speaker 4 (00:38):
I just see it as three ball dominant players on
the floor at the same time that don't necessarily move
without the ball, that don't goes that screen or doing
them like this. This guys that if they have the
ball in their him and they're working, if they don't,
you know, James Harden is kind of just chilling and

(00:59):
like Kawhi works, but I just don't see the vision
I did it. You have the star names of a
Bradley Beal, Kawhi Leonard, James hard and but that just
it doesn't elevate them to championship caliber, you.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
Know, team You know, David kind of reminds me what
the Phoenix Suns tried to do, right with Kevin Durants
and I was Devin Booker and Bradley Beal and that's
a big three and they tried to sell that to
everybody and that was a disaster.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
Yeah, I suppose.

Speaker 5 (01:33):
I I mean the Clippers, Clippers getting the Nuggets all
they wanted last year, but at crucial times in big,
big games in the playoffs, James Harden was a no show.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
So, I mean he's a scoring.

Speaker 5 (01:49):
Machine certainly in the regular season, but it's like Shelby said,
he not going to cover anybody Kawhi. You know, you
always worry about Kawhi's health. I mean, if you're a
Clipper fan, I mean he can when he's healthy. He's
to me one of the ten best players in the world.
And he's a two way guy. He's not really a
three point shooter, but he's a mid range monster, rebounder, defender,

(02:16):
so I like him. Bradley Bill has always been an
enigma to me, more of a mid range game, good handle, six'.
FIVE i don't Dislike Bradley, bill But i've never thought
of him as a guy that if you, said, hey
four minutes, ago we got to get some.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
STOPS i just never thought of him like. That that's not.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
Him, No, no it's really not. So and we'll see
if this ends up working out for.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
THEM i don't.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
Know there's been a lot of discussion.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
Debate bleacher reported their top one HUNDRED nba players of all.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
TIME i saw that a couple of days.

Speaker 5 (02:52):
Ago CAN i just say one, thing, Please John havlicek
was thirty?

Speaker 1 (02:56):
One really think? Yep.

Speaker 6 (02:58):
ONE i would just just right Behind Chris paul to
bleach your, report you, Might John, HAVLICHEK i, Think and
he's been gone for a long. TIME i think he's
still the leading scorer In Boston celtics. History stop and
think about that for a, minute AND I i Hope i'm.
RIGHT i think. So if, not he's right at the.

(03:19):
Top he was a, great great all around, player.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
You're correct twenty and ninety five.

Speaker 5 (03:27):
And he's the thirty first all time you know. Player,
yeah but he's been. Listening he played back in the
sixties and. Seventies, Yeah SO i mean a lot of
people probably doing that poll.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
Didn't never see, him you.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
Know and, again we don't have to talk About lebron Versus.
JORDAN i already know that you're A lebron. Guy Where jordan,
guys it's, FINE.

Speaker 5 (03:49):
Whoa i'm not an Anti lebron Anti jordan.

Speaker 4 (03:53):
EITHER i think my biggest THING i always say About, lebron,
though IS i just hate the hate for. It let's
just appreciate the greatness while it's. There, now if you're
talking about an opinion between who's, BETTER i don't think
it's really a comparison because they. Not they were asked
to play the game two completely different. Ways jordan was

(04:13):
never asked to be a facilitator or you know WHAT i,
Mean like that was never part of his.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
Game he was those to be a.

Speaker 4 (04:19):
Scorer lebron has been asked to be to play almost
every position on the, floor and so it's just it's
a different it's a different you can't it's so it's so.
Easy it's it's actually pretty lazy to be Like Lebron.
Jordan but they were just asked to do two completely different.

Speaker 3 (04:39):
Things you're just trying to bring nuance to a conversation
that there isn't really a lot of.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
NUANCE i understand what you're, saying but, Yeah son's the
best player.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
There is The whyn't you Just whyn't you just say
what you really think rather than that is WHAT i.

Speaker 4 (04:54):
Think i'm just saying, though that it's really the talk
and the ARGUMENT i forth it is REALLY i needed
because there's two.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
GREATS i haven't seen that much dancing since since you
had the blink on any two.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
Concert SO i didn't dance at. All, NO i know you.
DIDN'T i know you. Didn't did you see you Were
nicole shut up on this?

Speaker 6 (05:13):

Speaker 5 (05:19):
Huh so they're Saying Nicole joke is the seventeenth best
player in the history of the.

at LEAST i gotta TAKE kg out of there because
they have they have so read the read the top.

Okay Stephen curry all, Right kobe.

Speaker 2 (05:52):

Speaker 1 (05:54):
That they didn't think he should be that.

Speaker 5 (05:56):
High they should be that. Low, yeah you should. Be,
No i'd be in favor of those. People, yeah it
should be unbelievable, player okay eleven A keem, TWELVE i
mean great. Player Kevin durant thirteen. Yep Oscar. Robertson he you,

Speaker 3 (06:24):
Fifteen Yep jerry. West Yep kevin garnett. AT sixteen I
Bumped yo kitchen in Front of.

Speaker 4 (06:30):
Garnett too but, Like also i'm a believer of this
is right Now in. Jokis's career by the end of,
HIS career i don't think there'd be a question he'll
be top ten because what he's doing right now we've, never,
seen well you'd.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
Have some thinking.

Speaker 5 (06:45):
ABOUT this i agree with everything, he said but in
order for that, to happen you're gonna have to.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
BUMP down, i know, my folks That's what i'm.

Speaker 4 (06:54):
Looking at, i'm, LIKE man, i mean he's gonna have
to jump, the dream you KNOW what? I mean like,
you gots but that's. He keeps if they win, ANOTHER
championship i think you will see a jump because then he.
JUMPS in i get IT about kd and all, that
stuff but if you're talking about are we talking? About
players it's like individual or what they bring to. The team,

(07:15):
because jokers they don't know they were drinking when they made. The,
POLL yeah, i see they don't know what. THEY'RE talking,
i mean they. Don't know they're just trying to get something.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
Out there maybe not just. Drinking, That actually.

Speaker 4 (07:27):
I'm a big believer that half the stuff is just
clickbait just to get.

Speaker 3 (07:31):
People works, you listen it's that listy time of season
when when you put these things out there just to get.
PEOPLE react i, SAY this i think you, GUYS right
i think he has a chance to get inside the.

to imagine even Kicking Out steph curry.

Speaker 1 (07:49):
AT ten i think.

Speaker 4 (07:50):
You, CAN unfortunately i might get a lot of heat.
FOR this i think you can end Up Moving. Larry bird,
OH yeah i think, for him like. The TWENTY but
i think it's a couple of people on this list
ahead of him that.

Speaker 5 (08:09):
You get you got to you got internet at your,
house sometimes want you Tonight about i'm not that young,
GOOD lord i Know About. Larry bird i'm just trying
to help you as. A partner if you need to
find somebody else to take off.

Speaker 4 (08:24):
The, List no i'm SAYING if i move in order
to move to the, top ten That's what.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
I'm saying i'm Not saying.

Speaker 6 (08:30):
Bird in, every poll imaginable is a top ten ALL time.

Speaker 4 (08:37):
Nba player well that's that was, You know that's what
happens when the, game keeps, you know, going on and.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
Saw him die and they're.

Speaker 5 (08:46):
Not anymore and so the young cats who never saw him,
were like this was just some.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
White DUDE that, I, mean no he was. A HOOPER
don't i have all.

Speaker 4 (08:55):
The respect i'm just saying of any of the players
to beaver removed.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
Find another so what do you want To Move, tim
duncan we got to find do you Want To.

Speaker 5 (09:04):
WILL chamberlain i want to move Anybody But. Larry, Bird
no i'm a huge.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
Curry thing.

Speaker 4 (09:09):
That's why That's what. I'm saying or you you want To,
Move shack That's that's THAT'S why I Say bill russell
all Time, Great bill like That's why, I'M like i
Like Listen.

Speaker 5 (09:20):
Bill Russell bill russell Was the winniness great player and
and was an unbelievable rebounder, and defender really really limited.
Offensive PLAYER SO i, i mean IF if i had to,
Move somebody I'd probably i'd Probably move russell before I'd.

(09:43):
Move BIRD and i WAS a i Was a celtic
fan back in the. Late SIXTIES.

Speaker 4 (09:54):
Because i will tell, YOU this i didn't know many of,
the SONGS but i can always appreciate. Live, music yeah
that's and the skill that it TAKES that i. DID
play i DON'T think i ever told, you GUYS is
i did play the cello in, high school like all
eating up, FROM elementary i mean from fourth GRADE on
i played.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
The cello.

Speaker 3 (10:11):
That's, incredible yeah that's. Pretty COOL so i always even as,
a musician especially as. A musician i have a lot
of respect for people that can read MUSIC because. I
cannot both, my kids my youngest plays cello and my oldest. Plays,
violin okay and they give me, practically daily if, not
weekly a hard TIME that i can't.

Speaker 4 (10:27):
Read music do you KNOW why i chose to cello
because you sit down the. Whole time i'm getting, uh
no so you sit down and playing the. Trombone, too
no so you? Know why and and my like in
my school District, in milwaukee in, fourth grade you. Start
orchestra in, fifth grade you. Start BANNED so i didn't

(10:49):
have the PATIENTS since i started in.

Speaker 3 (10:51):
Fourth, grade okay you didn't have. Any patients, you know
they make drugs for.

Speaker 1 (10:55):
That now all natural natural baby five six.

Speaker 3 (11:02):
Nine zeros are can't wa commaspe health. Text line we'll
get to a fun conversation about. Training camp fun for
me at least coming up here in just. A Minute
burden magic is on the Text Line burdon magic Save.

Speaker 1 (11:12):
The, league yeah that is an. Absolute.

Speaker 3 (11:15):
Fact yep What About wilt chamberlain And Criminal Duel jabbar
as far as, replacing them.

Speaker 1 (11:21):
They're, In there i'm they.

Speaker 4 (11:23):
Want to you Can't Replaced, Abdul, jabbar No, but will
like we talked about it during, The break.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
Wilt might be a GUY that i.

Speaker 5 (11:30):
MEAN that I mean will was the, dominant player, great
player played most of his CAREER before i really remember WATCHING.

Speaker 1 (11:40):
The nba but you're talking about one of the.

Speaker 5 (11:42):
Best athletes in his size in the history of, the
league maybe.

Speaker 1 (11:46):
The world, BUT.

Speaker 5 (11:49):
Yeah i think he would be one that might come
off the. Top ten for a couple, OF guys i Would,
PUT kobe, i think in the top Ten. Before, Wilt yes,
will dominated but different Era and i'm Not, So honestly
i'm not. SO sure i Wouldn't put jokic in the

(12:09):
top Ten. Before, will ALSO.

Speaker 3 (12:11):
If i guess how Many MVPs, curry has do you
think there's a chance that k could jump in Front Of.

Speaker 1 (12:18):
Steph curry there's just won. SOMETHING championship I Think steph.

Speaker 5 (12:21):
CURRY is I Think, steph curry as much as any
player in, our lifetime has changed how the game.

Speaker 7 (12:29):
Is PLAYED and I so i agree. With, you yeah,
two okay and then four. Time CHAMPION but i guess?
What's CRAZY and i didn't even. Realize this only one
TIME finals mvp four championships only one time because.

Speaker 3 (12:45):
They give it To and dollar some one time because
He'll Guarded. Lebron, james well remember.

Speaker 1 (12:49):
When matK, Kellerman said i'm given the ball To.

Speaker 5 (12:52):
Equal dollar That's why max is no longer on.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
The show that sounded like, him too. As right.

Speaker 3 (13:12):
So we had that conversation yesterday about what you can
learn from, training CAMP and i was thinking about in
TERMS of i like the perspective. From players certainly we
cover from the media from the fan side, of THINGS
but i like from the perspective of. The players ONE
thing i was thinking about is at what point when
it comes, to say rookies coming on to your team
or free agents that were acquired in the, off season
at what point do you as a player make a

(13:36):
decision or distinction or judgment on what you think they
are or how good, they are how good they're going
to be for?

Speaker 1 (13:43):
Your team like what point in?

Speaker 4 (13:46):
Training camp point point training camp once the pads come
on and you get a couple of practices, in okay
and then but then the idea is you have to
watch them if they can get better and learn and
learn from the mistakes throughout, you know the pad days
and not stuff and the dog days. Of camp, you
know you obviously can just tell sometimes a guy as,
a player but sometimes. Right, away yeah sometimes you just

(14:09):
tell right away just by, you know just by the
way they move and the right way they, you know
they got heavy hands or something. Like that some of
that stuff will translate to being able to tell a
guy as a player, sometimes though it's just it's that first.
Preseason game he'd, Be, like oh, this guy that's a
little bit a little bit of some stuff on, under.

Speaker 1 (14:27):
Him you KNOW what. I mean there's another words you
want to put to you KNOW what.

Speaker 4 (14:30):
I mean but it's just it's it's it's throughout, training
camp but usually it's when those pads.

Speaker 1 (14:36):
Come on you learn about a guy.

Speaker 3 (14:39):
Pretty quickly would, you said it's pretty consistent, For, You,
DAVE yeah i.

Speaker 1 (14:43):
Think especially for like vets.

Speaker 5 (14:48):
That's LIKE watching i mean vets that, are established like
watching some of the young dudes Like and, shelby said
like maybe there's one that makes it play and where
you know, you're, like, like, oh, okay okay he's going
to be one. Of them, Look out and then you
develop an affinity in camp for that for.

Speaker 1 (15:08):
That guy you're sort of pulling for. That guy.

Speaker 5 (15:11):
And less of course he happens to play the same position,
you play then you might not be pulling. For him
but veterans are, always GRADING and i think it probably
still applies grading. Other players, younger players newly, acquired vets
they want to. Check it it doesn't take long for
a player to in a practice or two watch somebody

(15:35):
that just got either traded to their team or acquired
or what, have you and watch them and drills, and,
no yep that guy is gonna gonna help us be he's.
A player, or conversely, like.

Speaker 4 (15:49):
Well it also depends on the mistakes that the guys.
Are making are they making mental mistakes or are they
just getting? Physically, overpowered okay you KNOW what. I mean a,
mental mistake, all right we can work. With that that's just,
you know we can learn the. Defense better.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
We can. We can we can fix mental mistakes.

Speaker 2 (16:06):
As long as they're not like the same mistake over and.

Speaker 4 (16:08):
Over, again yeah like you KNOW what, i mean we
can fix those my type, of mistakes those. Physical mistakes
that's what you're going to get the. Whole year like
if you, just y'say you HAVE the b gap and
you KNOW what, i mean and you get thrown OUT the.

Speaker 1 (16:20):
B gap that right there.

Speaker 4 (16:22):
Is a physical mistake and, it's, like uh you you're
not gonna be able to really get that's how it's going, To,
be goddess you KNOW what. I mean but a mental
mistake of oh he went TO the, a gap but
he was supposed to stay IN the. B gap we can,
fix that you KNOW what. I, Mean though those little
things you. Can fix but sometimes you just physically. Get
overwhelmed and you know that's that's tough.

Speaker 2 (16:44):
TO see, i mean it's a different physicality of.

Speaker 3 (16:46):
The game you guys talked about that for years as
far as, you know going from college to the pros
and and then, YOU know i think for free agents
for the, most times, you, know hey if you're a
free agent that was acquired by, the team.

Speaker 1 (16:56):
You probably have.

Speaker 3 (16:56):
Enough tape there's enough experience THERE that i imagine it's
a little.

Speaker 1 (16:59):
Bit different well actually.

Speaker 4 (17:01):
Before before anything going off of, THAT though, i like,
for me, like anytime, you KNOW when i Went to
seattle and then when, you KNOW when i Went, to
cleveland obviously you have that tape, behind you but you
got to go re, establish yourself, YOU know, i mean
that tape really only means so much to your. New
teammates now you gotta go in there and show and you.
Work hard you know what. You do you gotta go

(17:23):
out there and still. Make plays otherwise they're gonna, be
like why are we signed?

Speaker 1 (17:26):
This guy you KNOW what?

Speaker 4 (17:27):
I mean like the politics only work so much in.
Your favor when you get signed as a, free agent
you gotta go out there and. Show it to show
it to, everybody too because of the. Front office people
get paid to. Watch tape your teammates on a. New
team they may be aware of who, you are and
maybe a couple of them have played, against you, like
directly but the majority of, The team like as a

(17:48):
wide receiver in, the league if we signed a, DEFENSIVE
tackle I would i would probably know, the NAME, but,
I hey i. DON'T know i watch tape of defensive
tackles and what. They do i'm more, concerned about, you
know what the back end of a, defense does and
what coverages, they run and how do the linebackers reroute

(18:10):
people and all all.

Speaker 1 (18:11):
Those Things so shelby's.

Speaker 5 (18:12):
Exactly right you, have to especially as a, New player
you've got to go and almost almost like you're. A
rookie you have to show right away like this is
why the team came out and.

Speaker 1 (18:24):
Got, me no and you just have to.

Speaker 4 (18:28):
You go out there and you and you've really just
you make plays throughout camp and then the guys will, be,
LIKE oh i see why we.

Speaker 1 (18:35):
Caught him then he.

Speaker 5 (18:35):
Can guys guys want teammates that can, help, Them, right
hey of course this guy's gonna be a.

Speaker 1 (18:42):
Good player he's going to. Help.

Speaker 2 (18:43):
Us, YEAH no i mean that makes a lot. OF
sense i just sort.

Speaker 3 (18:46):
Of wondered, it's like at what point in the process of,
training camp as you're getting ready for, the season you
start to realize what guys can help you and what
guys are going to be maybe slower in that process
or maybe not help you. AT all, I Mean i've
i've listened, To you dave for years talk about going
up against, certain DBS and i Remember alf ford talking
about going up in a certain offensive lineman, being like
oh that guy.

Speaker 2 (19:05):
Can't, play yeah absolutely. See it and, YOU'RE like i,
don't Know and i'll tell you.

Speaker 5 (19:09):
Something else wide receivers in the league can look at
wide receivers, in camp no matter where, they're drafted how,
they're acquired and watch them in a couple of practices and,
you know either they can play or. CAN'T play, i
mean that's it's it's really. That simple how do they
how do they get into and out of, their breaks
which is one of the most, critical THINGS and i

(19:32):
think it's it's underappreciated. By some you don't have to
be the fastest guy in, the world but you got
to be able to get into and out of that
cut and sink your hips and.

Speaker 1 (19:41):
Do that and then you got to be, you know
you got to be a Ball.

Speaker 5 (19:44):
Catching jesse if the balls on the ground, a lot
you're just not you're not going to play. Very much
and especially i'd say for as a, defensive lineman standpoint
looking at Other if i'm looking At, Old liman i'm
going against the. Old lineman if, you don't if you're,
not strong you don't have, an Anchor you i'm not going.
To survive and you can tell right away the guys
that that could put that foot in the ground and

(20:05):
stop stop the, bull rush or a guy that's is
going to go right all the way back to. The
quarterback and if you're looking at, d lineman, for me
it's more, of, like okay do you have.

Speaker 1 (20:14):
Heavy hands are?

Speaker 4 (20:15):
You sudden are you just are you strong enough to
really get off of block so or do you just
kind of ooze off? Of blocks You just and that's
the difference between the pros and the college ranks and
the college kids because you can survive in college not
without with not, being sudden without, being strong and the
pros you'll.

Speaker 1 (20:35):
Get dominated let me ask you one more.

Speaker 3 (20:37):
ON this i think this is fascinating and we as
fans that think at times will make. Our DISTINCTIONS but
i think what we covered yesterday was sometimes those are
a bit flawed because we're only taking one piece of, the,
Information right we're just taking what we see with, our
eyes maybe on the one practice that you end up,
going to and then, you, say okay well this guy's dominating,
out here but that doesn't necessarily tell the.

Speaker 2 (20:56):
FULL story i always love from the, Player's perspective.

Speaker 3 (20:59):
At what point is a player do you have a
judgment on how good, our offense, our defense our special
teams is going to be like the different units of.
The team so, like you you're, Playing, offense dave and
you're going up against the defense every, single day and,
you're like, ALL right i think our defense is going.

Speaker 2 (21:16):
To be this is that you can you learn that from?
Training camp or is that are?

Speaker 6 (21:19):
In?

Speaker 5 (21:19):
SEASON point i, THINK personally i think it's more in
season because you get so used to running against. Your
defense you can, figure out like for a, wide receiver
you can figure out like which corners are better and
what maybe some corners don't like to do, in safeties
and so you you have. AN idea I mean i

(21:43):
would have an idea What the browns secondary was going.
To BE like I knew i knew playing against In
Practice tom Darden And, clarence scott.

Speaker 6 (21:52):
Two veteran. Like hitters both both would would. Bring it
oh you have to be aware of guys.

Speaker 1 (22:02):
Like THAT and i.

Speaker 5 (22:02):
KNEW outside i mean in eighty one they drafted Hand
for dixon and you knew. Right, away now we we
beat him up in, practice early but you knew right, Away,
like okay this kid's he's gonna when he figures out
like how to come up and how to press and,
hand placement he's he's going to.

Speaker 1 (22:23):
Be a really really.

Speaker 4 (22:24):
Good, PLAYER yeah i guess a KID That i it's
like instantly we all were just like this kid has
IT Was treeq willen Was. In, seattle yes because you
saw that speed jump out at you, Right away, you're,
like oh we can fix all this other stuff that
he got. Going on he has all the physical traits
you could. Possibly have, BUT also i guess a big
thing that is needed to be seen from these young

(22:46):
guys or anyone else to be in order to. Be
good it's the ability to bounce back. From mistakes, you
know if you go mess up, one player are you
gonna mess? Up again you got mess up to play?
After that or if you mess up one play and then,
you're like, all right that won't, happen again and then
you never see. That again, add ability it is a
core ability of real pro. Football players you have to
be able to forget the. Last play you can't just

(23:08):
get stuck and fall down this hole and then now
you've gotten cooked four plays in a row and now
the coach is pulling you off.

Speaker 3 (23:17):
THE field i found it all, very, fascinating honestly, Especially
again i've only had this, one advantage which is as
a media member or a fan going down to training.
Camp practices one THING that i was thinking, about today
it was stimming a bit of our. Conversation yesterday we
were Talking About pete carroll's. TRAINING camp i think it
was an af. Fair conversation but we were Talking About
PEE carroll's i started Thinking About nathaniel hackett's, training CAMP and,

(23:39):
i again don't don't turn off your radio if there's
a point, to this because people, are, like oh you're
Bringing Up.

Speaker 1 (23:43):
N'thaniel hackett somebody's got to win, This game, thank.

Speaker 3 (23:45):
You coach and obviously you weren't here for that because
we screwed up as an organization trading.

Speaker 2 (23:52):
You away i'm still sorry. About that.

Speaker 3 (23:59):
But but i'd say that training camp just didn't work
to get the, guys, READY right, I, mean dave is
that officially a thing we can say like there was
a plan they wanted to give days off and they
WANTED to i.

Speaker 2 (24:13):
DON'T know i don't know what.

Speaker 4 (24:15):
The, league right that's, NORMAL now i. Don't know thinking
of not trying to work hard, EVERY day i. DON'T
science i don't know if it was.

Speaker 5 (24:24):
A, TRAINING CAMP i i. Don't know maybe maybe that
was maybe that was part. Of it, YOU know i
think how you establish who you're going to be as the,
head guy especially IN, the nfl when you walk in
and you're a new head coach and that first time
you're walking in dressing your team in the theater seating

(24:48):
that that's an important message because they.

Speaker 1 (24:51):
Are, judging you like in the biggest.

Speaker 5 (24:55):
Of ways they're judging how, you look they're judging how,
you talk they're judging what you say when, you talk
they're judging what the. Message is and you've got to
be really clear and on point with them because that's
the that's the first time that you get to interact.
With THEM AND i i. DON'T think i don't Think

(25:20):
coach hackett maybe did a great job of that initially
AND then i think and he was a new, head
COACH and i. THINK it i think, it HAPPENS but
i think it got away from him as the season
went on and there were, players that, you know just
took advantage of. Certain situations and if if you don't

(25:43):
from the jump established, like hey here's here's how we're
going to, do things they Want to they want you
to tell them how we're going. TO win, i mean
they all want to win because they get more money when.
They win right, their careers, they're better it's, more funds
fun coming. To work we're not, interested in, you know
all the kind. OF cool, i mean, we're interested but

(26:04):
the bottom line is how are you gonna make?

Speaker 4 (26:06):
Us better and that's where, the coaches that's that's. Their
role we're supposed to define what this team is about.
This year you, know what what is the goal for,
The season how we and how do we?

Speaker 3 (26:20):
Accomplish that so he does not have because, you've said
other coaches do what he was trying.

Speaker 2 (26:26):
To accomplish so is it just he didn't have the
experience to?

Speaker 1 (26:29):
The templements SO when i was.

Speaker 4 (26:31):
With, in seattle one of the first and that first
being the first thing, they said we want to Win?
The west established that as your goal. Right there then,
it's like how are we going to Win? The west
we're gonna, Work hard we're not gonna, make mistakes, you
know we're gonna be better shaped. Than everybody we're. They penalized,
like then when you see these type of things happening,

(26:51):
in practice how is this going to help us Win?
The west is this going to is this going to
help us towards? Our goal and it and then also
you just need to you need a certain type of,
player too because it sounds repetitive when it's coming. From
coaches you got a player that'll, be, like hey what's
this is not? Our standard this is the we are
below our standard, right now.

Speaker 5 (27:12):
That's unacceptable it's more impactful coming from a player at
that level than.

Speaker 1 (27:17):
A COACH and i just.

Speaker 4 (27:19):
Believe that, You know pete had even though they necessarily,
you know we're talking about working hard in Camp and Seattle.
Would pete we we necessarily didn't work, super hard like,
long days but when we, actually practice we were out there, working,
hard going working towards. A goal and if we, would
compete and Because Obviously pete carroll so he loved. To

(27:41):
Compete like i'm being serious that that was, his thing no.

Speaker 1 (27:47):
Doubt about are you kidding that that's like a, Dad,
joke dave that was.

Speaker 4 (27:54):
His thing that was his, thing THOUGH and i know
it's just because it has had his, name Minute but i'm,
just saying, he's like we're going, to compete and they
hit smile but, Like that but that's competition makes the
best out, of everyone you KNOW what, I mean and
that's what needs to. Be done you can only it's
okay to not work so hard and to not kill,

(28:14):
your body but when, you're working you got to compete
you've got to go out there and achieve. Your goals
you Really got you don't think he said that a couple.

Speaker 1 (28:22):
Of Times In. Las vegas, well, Guarantee.

Speaker 3 (28:26):
Yes, OKAY fine I guess i think About Like trevor
price and the eye, roll stuff when he used to
talk About ray lewis always doing his gyrations, and stuff
and he'd, BE like i don't even know why we're.

Speaker 1 (28:37):
Doing, All This, But trevor trevor. Wasn't that trevor was
the antithesis.

Speaker 3 (28:41):
Of THAT but i just think about a room and
maybe not all, of THEM but i think about a
room of pay the athletes paid Adult Miss and I've.

Speaker 5 (28:47):
HEARD pete I mean i've Heard and shelby Played. For
pete I've heard. Pete speak.

Speaker 1 (28:55):
He's.

Speaker 5 (28:55):
PRETTY compelling i think he's he's got, that uh he's
got that juice level that guys are.

Speaker 1 (29:04):
Attracted to they they they.

Speaker 5 (29:06):
WANT to, i mean football is, an emotional high strung at,
times GAME and i think coaches that understand that and
can identify with really what that player is thinking have
a better chance of being a.

Speaker 1 (29:21):
Successful.

Speaker 4 (29:22):
Coach, yeah well we have a guy on the text
line saying that's where a Guy Like dan campbell makes
a huge impression and you're one hundred, percent correct, absolutely
correct one hundred. Percent correct and that's why you see
so much fight out of a team Like The, detroit
lions even when last year the whole defense is banged
up and they're still going in every game fighting like
hell that you are a reflection of your. Head coach

(29:42):
i'm not saying anything About. NATHANIUM hackett i didn't have
him as, a COACH but i do, know that, You,
know pete that was his. Main thing we're, Gonna compete
we're gonna go out there and we're. Gonna talk we're
gonna win. Every game and that's the same Thing With.
Dan campbell he gets his guys ready and The same biden.
Meeecaps off how do you think? They play they play.
Like that they played like a Reflection Of.

Speaker 5 (30:02):
Dan campbell, YOU remember i can't REMEMBER if i was
doing the show with you Bet when campbell.

Speaker 2 (30:06):
Got hired, oh yeah, we, were yeah well Maybe, not
DAN but i know.

Speaker 5 (30:10):
We, Talked YEAH so i remember stating there and there
were others. THAT didn't i loved it as a. Former
player there were some that, was, like man this IS.
The nfl when, that's hokey YOU could i mean me,
Watching that, i'm, like, oh hell absolutely absolutely play for

(30:31):
that guy in. A, minute well.

Speaker 4 (30:33):
We get stuck on the idea that these head coaches
have to, call plays but, in reality your head coaches
are supposed to be the voice of. The team that's
Why The bill belichicks To The dan campbell's they're successful
because obviously.

Speaker 1 (30:46):
They have all.

Speaker 4 (30:47):
Their assistants and that's also why the question is For
The detroit lions of who are they going to be
this year because they lost all. Their assistants but a
Guy Like, dan campbell he's going he's going to, have
you no matter if you have out. Or not you're
gonna go out there and you're gonna run to a wall.

Speaker 2 (31:02):
For, That man i'm still stuck going. TO compete.

Speaker 3 (31:05):
I can't every Time the raiders struggle, This year i've
been a wonder about their. COMPETE level i can't, help.

Speaker 1 (31:11):
It man. What's wrong.

Speaker 3 (31:14):
I'm just i'm so blown away that that works at
the pro level with. Adult men, oh yes. It works
he's a right.

Speaker 1 (31:24):
Road, guy, maybe.

Speaker 2 (31:26):
Yeah maybe there is something to that.

Speaker 4 (31:30):
Successful sustained Success in seattle.

Speaker 3 (31:34):
BY competing i like, this text how do you know
if a player has, supple hands watch him?

Speaker 4 (31:40):
Catch balls, but also but people don't realize though. IT'S
more i guess it's a big thing about the catching
the ball thing because is it bouncing around?

Speaker 1 (31:49):
Their hands is it a? Clean catch you need a?
Clean hands Was Like, King kong i'm on Calling. Back
kanem He Got. KING kong I. Love denzel, oh, yeah
amazing that's his, best, MOVIE right.

Speaker 6 (32:12):
I.

Speaker 4 (32:12):
Really, Enjoyed ACTUALLY john q really. Really enjoyed john cues
the story, Behind IT.

Speaker 2 (32:19):
John q Compared To, TRAINING day, q story.

Speaker 1 (32:23):
The story behind. The performance you KNOW what. I mean
but he's good.

Speaker 3 (32:30):
In everything like there's a Movie That denzel washington does
that it's Bad, The GOAT but i mean Compared To
training day.

Speaker 1 (32:39):
That was he won then. For turning that's his? Only
oscar when which is which?

Speaker 4 (32:44):
Is wild it's like the same Arguments Like leonardo DiCaprio
of how his oscars in a movie That Was.

Speaker 5 (32:54):
The revet that's how he he crawled up inside an
Animal hid you got, bear man it's something. For, that
yeah You Got. Moldy bear you talk, about, hey seriously
you talk about toughness and persevering.

Speaker 1 (33:11):
That movie, i'm, LIKE.

Speaker 5 (33:13):
Man i gotta, Tell you i'd have been dead a long.

Speaker 1 (33:15):
Time ago that's a high level of compete
