Speaker 1 (00:00):
First of all, let's start with how was your bye week?
Speaker 2 (00:02):
Bie week was great, just hung out here in Denver,
enjoyed the time down. It was his dad for a couple,
you know, about a week and a half straight, which
was really nice and I hope my wife appreciated that.
But it was good, got some work in, got some
quality time at home, and ready to get back to work.
Speaker 1 (00:18):
How are your bye weeks? I mean, you're a veteran league.
How have they sort of adjusted over time? Is it
about the same for you every single year?
Speaker 2 (00:25):
I think I've definitely relaxed a lot more. You know,
when you get a time off as a young player,
sometimes you try and plan social things or whatever. But
you know, now I've just enjoyed time with my family
and get my body back to ready to go.
Speaker 1 (00:41):
Let's I want to ask you about Luke Wattenberg and
getting a contract extension. You guys have obviously all been
working together for quite some time, having some success there
on the offensive line. What was it meant to you
guys to see Luke get paid well?
Speaker 2 (00:53):
First, it's unbelievably well deserved. He's earned every penny of
that contract because of the way that he's played, that
he carries himself in our building and the you know,
the player and the guy that he is. We don't
we don't do anything without Luke. He's uh, you know,
gets us all on the same page, plays great football,
and I think he's one of the best centers in
the NFL, and I think he got rewarded for that,
(01:15):
and you know it. It gives us an excitement because
there's not many buildings that that care and invest in
the offensive line the way that that ours does. And
certainly we believe that Zach has helped us all get
to where we want to be and and we want
to keep playing together. And that's uh, we've had a
lot of success and we're only scratching the surface for
what we want to do.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
Speaking of the success, you guys are nine to two
right now, opportunity now down the stretch, one game at
the time, obviously, But for what you had expectations coming
into the season to where you're at now, how's that
sort of married up?
Speaker 2 (01:47):
Well, I think we we're exactly where we want to be.
We give we've put ourselves in a position where we
kind of control our own destiny here as as the
season unfolds and It's an exciting time to be at
Denver Bronco. And I think all the work that we've
put in, not only from April this year, but from
when we first all got here under Sean, this is
what we were working for. We were working for to
be the top dogs in our conference, and we're and
(02:10):
we got to finish the job.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
Sean I mentioned the penalties is one of the things
that he wanted to focus on. Is there some things
that you guys can do as soon as this week
to sort of help that.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
It's just focus, it's just focused in detail. I think
the more we can do that, the more we can
all be on the same page, those things go away,
and it's a it's a must. It has to go
away because if you want to play championship level football,
you can't be shooting yourself on the foot.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
You got the Commanders this week. Tell me a little
bit about that defensive matchup and you will probably see
a little bit of von Miller out there.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
Yeah, exciting to play Vaughn. He's obviously one of the
greatest players at his position ever. Always great to get
competition like that. They're a good front there there, could
play hard and they're well coached. I mean, I've played
against dan Quinn's defenses for a long time and they're
always very, very difficult. So excited to get the opportunity
(03:00):
to go there and compete. And you know we got
our handsful.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
Last one here expected to be kind of a wet track.
How does that sort of impact the way you guys
can operate?
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Not so much for me. I'm not opening up. I'm
not opening up stride all that much, or if we are,
we're in trouble. No, I think it's just a matter
of keeping your feet underneath you. You've got to plan
for the cleats, you know, get the studs out, get uh,
you got to feel it out, pregame if what you need.
But you know, certainly that's you have to take care
of that stuff before the game so that you know
(03:31):
you're not even thinking about it when the game is
going on. Appreciate anytime
