we are here, like I said, at the glen Oaks
Country Club. We've been here for I mean several I
don't know how many years it's been at this point,
(00:46):
but it feels like this is our home when it
comes to the KSR Golf Scramble. You guys already know
I am not a golfer. I gave up golf many
many years ago. It'll tried to play golf for a
long time. I will go out on the weekends. And
then I just came to the realization that, you know what,
I'm not a good golfer. I'm never going to be
a good golfer. Why am I coming out here spending
(01:08):
a lot of money, wasting my weekend to just get frustrated,
throw my clubs and not enjoy it. So I've decided
one day, you know what, this is it for me.
But I'm gonna be hanging out here for a little bit.
And we got all the sponsors up here as well
as we always do. Is present it by Stockton Mortgage.
We got the closest to the pen sponsored by ad T,
(01:29):
We got Wild Eggs out here at Penn Station Dairy,
Queen Alumni Hall providing the KSR gear, and bar knows
Pizza is going to be having the lunch out here,
so I'm looking forward to that, all right. So here's
the deal. It's just me right now. He is on
his way from Lexington. I got a text from Billy
I don't know about thirty forty minutes ago, saying that
(01:50):
he is stuck in traffic on his way here, and
not only that his phone is at one percent. I've
got a lot of questions. I have no idea. First
of all, how you end up with a phone at
one Did you not charge your phone? You could have
called in on this first segment. But anyway, Yeah, so
he's on his way here, and I hope this week
(02:11):
is better than last week for me because we talked
last week about Billy and his fiance hiring the etsy Witch,
and we kind of laughed at it. We kind of
mocked the etsy Witch. We're like, you did what you
paid sixteen dollars to have an etsy witch put a
curse on the weather to where it wouldn't rain. Well,
it didn't rain on his wedding day, and we made
(02:33):
fun of it. And now I've had just a stretch
of bad luck. I mean last week. Let's go through
it here. I And by the way, Mark Mitchell, of
course is a cat. We'll get to that. We'll get
to it. I might want to save that from when
Billy gets here. But my stretch of bad luck last week.
First of all, the day after we make fun of
the etsy Witch, I get in the car and it
(02:53):
breaks down on me.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
So that was the first day.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
The next day, I didn't talk about this last week,
but my mom has a heart attack last week, so
I end up in the hospital. She's okay, by the way,
everything's good, so I can I'm not laughing about it,
not making light of it, but she's good now. So
it was, you know, a scary situation, but now but
now she's back home, everything's good. Then of course I
(03:17):
go out to the Kentucky State Fair this past weekend
and it was it was a lot of fun. By
the way, you know, Blackstone Cherry was playing out there,
one of my favorite bands. Got to hang out with
those guys. You know that they listened to KSR, So
I didn't realize that those guys were listeners of this show.
But they were amazing, great band if you've never seen
them before from right here in Kentucky. Got to go backstage,
(03:39):
hang out with them on their their tour bus and
really cool. But anyway, I'm about to go up there
and introduce the band, and I had to go back
to the car to uh to get something and realize
I locked my keys in my car. So I'm going. Man,
the Etsy Witch strikes again. It's just been one thing
after another for me last week, So hopefully this week's
(04:00):
it'd be better than that than last week was it
was a good week for Kentucky. I mean on Friday,
after the show, after the remote, we got the news
that Mark Mitchell is eligible to uh TO to play
a fifth year and so that that came across the
news wire. Of course, as soon as we got off
(04:20):
the air on KSR, I called it, it's always like that,
every time, like on a Friday, that there's news coming
down and never breaks during the show. It always happens
at twelve oh one. Uh So got that news and
then as I'm at the State Fair Saturday night, this
guy yells at me, shinning the dude. I'm like, hey,
all right, hey, what's up man? He's like Mark, Mark
Mitchell committed to Kentucky. I'm like, all right, let's go.
(04:43):
And you know, that's a huge, huge commitment for Kentucky.
And you can look at the situation with Mark Pope
having one more roster spot as well, he missed on
all these guys that we were trying to get and
that's why that's that there's that one roster spot left there.
Or we can look at it is well, you know,
we kind of fell upstairs on this one, right, I mean,
(05:04):
we missed on a lot of guys that they wanted
earlier in the portal, but then you end up with
the guy Mark Mitchell, who played at Duke, was a
star at Missouri. I think he averaged around twenty points
a game. And now all of a sudden, you're in
a situation where you have a guy that, yeah, he's
the last guy on the roster, but he's not the
(05:25):
last guy in the depth chart. This guy is a
serious player and it's going to be a starter I
would think coming right in, like he is going to
come in and take somebody's starting position. Now, I know
that was kind of the argument that Sanki and all
the commissioners were trying to make last week, saying, you know,
it was kind of surprising to me that they would
ask a judge not to make Mark Mitchell eligible when
(05:48):
I mean it's helping an SEC school. You would think
that the commissioner would want guys like that to be
eligible to to, you know, make your SEC teams better.
But he's a guy, like I said, he's going to
come in. He's going to be an immediate factor on
this team. He's a guy that adds depth to the roster,
something that I think this team desperately needed, and all
(06:09):
of a sudden you're talking about a team that, well,
we feel pretty good about to now, I don't know, man,
I think my confidence in this team, this roster has
gone up. I mean, I don't know why wouldn't it
wouldn't go up even more. I mean, I'm not going
to say that this is a Final four team. I'm
not willing to say that. I don't know that you
can necessarily put a win total on one guy uh
(06:30):
being on the team. But if you're talking about overall
all the missus that I was just mentioning that Mark
Pope had in the offseason, all of a sudden you
look at the roster and you go, you know what,
this isn't a bad roster after all. Like somehow through
all the missus and all the guys that you know
went to BYU or Kansas or wherever they ended up,
(06:53):
all of a sudden, this does not look like a
bad roster at all. So I think that, you know,
going into what football season and a week and a half,
all of a sudden thinking about basketball, a lot of
people were like, I don't know if I'm excited about
this team or not. I mean, obviously mom Chilovich was
a huge ad to the roster. That's solotened the blow
(07:13):
on a lot of the roster and recruiting misses. But
then you add in Mark Mitchell, and I mean, I
think it's a it's a different team entirely. Again, I'm
not willing to say this is the Final four team
just because you add him, but I have to say
that you know that they've definitely added some depth and
you now have a guy that has experience and they
(07:34):
could come and be a contributor immediately. So I can't
under state how big of a ruling that was from
the judge to make him eligible and then him to
commit to Kentucky over the weekend is huge. Now alex
Afari another guy that you know that the other ruling
we had that he is not eligible, but now he's
fighting back on the football side, so you know that
(07:55):
part of it's kind of a mess. He would think that,
you know, a guy like Alexafari and some of these
guys that were initially ruled ineligible would just take their
ball and go home. But no, alex Afari and other
players and a group of other players are fighting. They
have lawyered up and now they're going to try to
(08:15):
fight this and be eligible to play. But I mean, again,
the football season Week zero is coming up this weekend,
you know, and I don't know like how long that
ruling would take. So you may have a situation where
a judge overturns this, alex Afari ends up being eligible,
but maybe it's in week two or three. I don't
know how quickly they will rule on something like this,
(08:38):
you know. I mean, the Mark Mitchell thing actually surprisingly
happened fast. It happened really fast. So you know, if
they can do a quick turnaround on this decision on
whether or not they're gonna let alex Afari and other
guys that fall under his criteria eligible, we'll just have
to wait and see if the whole thing's confusing. You know,
it's like you had to be in the transport portal
(09:01):
before they announced that you could play a fifth year.
And again, I think Matt said it best. You have
to basically be a lawyer to understand what's going on
with guys that are eligible and aren't eligible. So it's
just one of those wait and see things eight five,
nine two twenty two eighty seven. As we wait for
Billy to show up. He just sent me a text
and said he's about ten minutes away. You know, we
(09:22):
were talking about this on KSR. I think it was
last week. You know, when when guys get married. I
think there was a wary that somebody brought up about
Travis Kelsey. They're like, you know, when Travis Kelsey goes
out there, is he gonna be Is his head gonna
be in the game? Is his mind gonna be focused?
Because after you get married, you know, some guys kind
(09:43):
of don't sweat the details as much as they did before.
They're more focused on their marriage. And there's people going, well,
is Travis Kelsey gonna be the old Travis kelcey now
that he's married to Taylor Swift? And man, now I
may have to say that about our own Billy. You know,
I'm like, Billy's married now he's showing up late for
motes and everything else. But no, he'll be here and
I understand it.
Speaker 1 (10:03):
Man.
Speaker 2 (10:03):
It it sucks like for me having to drive to
Lexington every Friday. It's a struggle sometimes and if there's
any kind of backup or anything like that, you're just
kind of stuck. So we'll carry on until he gets
here eight five nine two twenty two eighty seven, we'll
talk more about Mark Mitchell. I do got to give
while we're giving shout out to the KSR golf scramble,
I do have to give a shout out to Dave's Towing.
Speaker 1 (10:25):
They're the guys that got me into the vehicle.
Speaker 2 (10:29):
And that, by the way, that's not the first time
I've ever locked my keys in my car at the
Kentucky State Fair. I think it's been like a the
second or third, at least the second time I've done that.
I remember, way back in the day, we had the
station vehicle park right next to the bud tent and
we were hanging out there doing a broadcast and somehow
someway leave it to me, I locked the keys in
the car. They had to get the constuct of Kentucky
(10:50):
State Troopers to let us in. And then it happened
to me last week or over the weekend last Saturday,
just a couple of days ago. So again I blame
the etsy. Shout out to Tony and Maston from Dave's
Towing for getting me back into my car. I don't
know if you've locked your keys of your car recently,
but it's a lot more sophisticated on how they break
(11:11):
into your car.
Speaker 1 (11:12):
Now.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
You know, they used to have to take like a
coat hanger and kind of wire it down in there.
Now they've got this thing that looks like a like
a blood pressure cuff you would put on your arm,
and they kind of wedge it into the window and
then they pump it just enough to have that wire
go down in there and pop the lock. And here's Ryan,
who would up by the way, speaking of DraftKings, and
you know the odds on things happening, who would have
(11:34):
had Ryan showing up here before Billy? So how so
explain to me Ryan, you came from Lex and then
Billy's coming from Lex And then how is it that
you beat Billy here this morning? Hold on, let's turn
you up here. Let's see.
Speaker 3 (11:48):
Yeah, I'm not sure. I checked my GPS this morning
and it said there was a traffic backup. So I
immediately got in my car and bolted out of there.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
See, I mean, normally I'm the one calling you and
you're like, oh, these stools, what's going on?
Speaker 3 (12:01):
But then I heard you say that he got caught
up in some traffic.
Speaker 1 (12:04):
The traffic was cleared.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
Up by the time I got see, I was saying,
I was just mentioneding. You know, we were talking about
Travis Kelcey. Once Travis Kelsey got married to Taylor Swift,
Everybody's like, is he gonna be Travis Kelsey? Is he
going to be focused on the game. Yeah, And I'm like,
Billy got married. Now he's showing up late for remotes.
You know, is his mind in the wrong place. I
was just talking about I locked my keys in my car.
I heard have you ever I feel like that's something
you would do?
Speaker 1 (12:26):
Do you do that?
Speaker 3 (12:27):
There was have you ever done that? There was a
stretch where, you know, before we all had key fobs. Yeah,
I locked my keys in my car, like it seemed
like once a month. I literally went and bought one
of those little tools to slip down in between the
window and the door, Yeah, to unlock your car. I
went and got one. Yeah, because I was doing it
so often.
Speaker 2 (12:46):
See, I was doing the stage announcements for the Blackstone
Cherry Show and I went to go back to the
car and I go and I'm feeling him. You know,
it's that helpless feeling that you had. Definitely when you're
you're patting the right side of your your pants to
go into your pocket, and you go, oh, it's in
my left pocket. Then you go into your left pocket
and you're like, oh, it's not there. And then you
look through the window and you see the keys right
(13:09):
there in the driver's seat, and you're going, oh, no.
Speaker 3 (13:12):
No, most cars now got it where your door won't
lost seat.
Speaker 1 (13:17):
So here's the thing.
Speaker 2 (13:18):
And by the way, it's it's the durringo, you know,
because I'm driving the duringo because my car broke down.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
I was just talking about the stretch of bad luck
that I've had.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
So the thing is, yeah, that that does have a
key fob on it, which in theory would stop you
from locking the keys in the car.
Speaker 3 (13:34):
It should.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
Only problem is the key fob doesn't work.
Speaker 3 (13:37):
The battery is dead the key fob.
Speaker 1 (13:39):
So if it weren't for bad luck.
Speaker 3 (13:41):
And I okay, what's the moral of the story here,
Shannon is don't mess with the edgsy wit.
Speaker 1 (13:47):
I am telling you.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
We've laughed about it, like I kind of mocked it. Okay,
I did mock it, And then it was like I
was just talking about all the things that happened. A
car breaks down, Mom has a heart attack. Uh, the
the keys getting locked in the car, and like you know,
now Billy's late, I'm blaming it. We'll blame it on Billy. Well, no,
we'll blame it on the Etsy Wood. Be careful, you're
gonna blame her again. Something else is gonna happen. Yeah,
(14:10):
I'm afraid to even say the way. She's great, man,
she wow, I say great. She's as good as somebody
could be that just had a heart attack. It was
really scary. You know, I was thinking about actually leaving
the remote early on Friday, but I didn't want to
say anything because we didn't have any updates then she had.
It was the window maker, so that's that's the that's
the main thing. But it was like one of those
(14:30):
rare cases to where they went in they did the
test and everything everything like the arteries and everything were clean.
But it was like some sort of stress induced heart attack.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
That she had.
Speaker 2 (14:41):
But they said that like they can give her medication
and the part that was damaged can heal up. So
you know, if you're gonna have a heart attack, that
is the best possible scenario, best possible outcome that you
could have.
Speaker 1 (14:52):
So everything's good.
Speaker 2 (14:53):
But if this week could just Etsy Witch, if you're listening,
if you could just let up on me a little bit.
I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like I I will
hire you to do something else positive. You know, I'll
give you sixteen dollars. Just don't let anybody you know
that anything bad happened this week, because it's it's been
a stretch.
Speaker 3 (15:10):
Cause shanning a solid, Yeah, cutting a solid.
Speaker 1 (15:12):
Now what are you gonna be doing today? Are you
gonna be out one.
Speaker 3 (15:15):
Of the holes. I haven't been given my instructions yet. Yeah,
so I'm not sure where I'm gonna be and what
I'm gonna do. I'm usually on whole number eighteen on
the green putting for everybody and then getting a group
photo taken.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (15:26):
Now, you in the past have actually sunk some putts
out there, right.
Speaker 3 (15:30):
Well, I think I hit two out of thirty two
last time.
Speaker 1 (15:34):
If we're doing like free throw percentage, that's horrible. But
if we're doing.
Speaker 3 (15:38):
Twenty five foot putts two out of thirty two, which,
by the way.
Speaker 2 (15:42):
Yeah, I mean that's not for somebody who doesn't golf. Yeah, mean,
you hit a couple. I'll give you credit for those.
When you did the putt for prison? How far were
those putts where those.
Speaker 3 (15:51):
Those were five feet channing.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
But that goes to show you the game of golf, right,
it's a mental thing because if you have prisons Tom
on the line, I feel confident you would have probably
sunk five out of five.
Speaker 3 (16:06):
That day when I was warming up, Yeah, I was
nailing them. I mean, I was just and I got
over confident.
Speaker 1 (16:11):
I think.
Speaker 3 (16:12):
I think, but I'll hit at least two or three,
maybe even four of these.
Speaker 1 (16:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (16:16):
I missed that first one, and then it got in
your head just barely. Then I missed the second one.
Speaker 1 (16:21):
Just barely. You're like, oh, row, that.
Speaker 3 (16:24):
Putter feels like it weighs like fifty five pounds. I'm like,
oh no.
Speaker 1 (16:28):
Plus you had live TV and screaming at me and laughing.
Everybody's laughing.
Speaker 2 (16:34):
Yeah, well, you know there's no pressure today though, but
no pressure today. Had to come out and just hang
out and we'll have a good time. Eight five, nine
to twenty two eighty seven. Billy should be rolling in
here in just a few minutes, so we'll go ahead
and take a break and we'll come right back.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
It is the KSR pre Show. We're live from glen
Oaks Country Club. Welcome back. It is the KSR pre Show.
Speaker 2 (16:53):
We are live at glen Oaks Country Club where today
the first place winner is gonna get a bottle of
burnt tavern and bourbon per player. All that's good stuff,
you know. I endorse burnt tavern bourbon. It's good stuff
and burnt tavern if you're listening, Actually I need another
bottle too. You know, when people come over to my house,
I pour the burnt tavern bourbon. I'm like, man, you
guys are drinking me dry over here. You know it
(17:14):
turns out, Ryan, if you put a bar in your garage,
people flock to it.
Speaker 1 (17:17):
They're like, oh, it's it's an open bar.
Speaker 3 (17:19):
Shannon's got free.
Speaker 2 (17:20):
I mean you have to get me a liquor license
and start charging per drink. I feel like, you know,
it goes fast. Second place is going to get some
shady raised sunglasses per player, and then a fifty dollars
gift card to Bristol Restaurant goes to third place. Longest
drive provided by the Jefferson Animal Hospital. We'll continue to
shout out some of the sponsors here at the KSR Scramble,
which we always appreciate, and let me tell you about
(17:43):
one more.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
Draft Kings sports Book.
Speaker 2 (17:44):
You know something big is coming up on September second, Ryan,
It's DraftKings Game Day, and it arrives with massive deals,
exclusive offers, and all day celebration built for sports fans.
You can sign up with the promo code KSR. You
bet five, you're gonna get one hundred and fifty and

doing a whole lot of betting over the summer. I'm
not really a baseball better, but when it comes to
college football, I'm gonna be on it.
Speaker 1 (18:20):
So I love it.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
Yeah too, because it happened on the weekend baseball. I
don't want to get sucked up.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
Well baseball, it's just hard to really like. You gotta
know the pitching matchups. You gotta because you know.
Speaker 3 (18:32):
This time of year, a lot of teams have like
just playing all their.
Speaker 2 (18:36):
I'm worried about my Braves. They were up by nine
over the nine game lead over the Phillies. Now it's
down to two and a half or three. They finally
won last night. But the Phillies have won nine straight.
Speaker 3 (18:45):
They just swept the Cardinals.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
Yeah, thinks a lot, Ryan, Your Cardinals didn't help at all.
And then they then the Braves started losing. They were
like two and eight in their last ten, so all
of a sudden, that nine game lead went all the
way down to two and a half. And finally they
won last night in the Little League game. But anyway,
if you have a gambling problem wanting hunter gambler eighteen
plus Kentucky only twenty one plus Kentucky only. Eligibility restrictions apply.

Speaker 3 (19:21):
Can I get some shout outs?
Speaker 1 (19:22):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (19:22):
Go, it's a big birthday week in ksr Land. Okay,
who we got yesterday was Maria? Oh yeah, Maria Maria's
birthday yesterday, Yeah, tomorrow, Richie Farmer and Corey Price.
Speaker 1 (19:33):
Corey Price.
Speaker 2 (19:34):
Okay, can I tell you that I already told Richie
happy birthday last week because Dick Gabriel was filling in
for Tom on the Leach Report, and you know at
the end of the show they always do the birthdays.
He gave the birthday shout outs. I think he met
Keith Farmer, but he said Richie Farmer, so that Oh,
I go, oh man, I got a text Richie happy
birthday and he goes, it's actually not my birthday, and
(19:55):
I go, well, you know what, but he got one
coming up eventually, right, buddy, So let me be the
first person. The second person to tell you a happy birthday.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
Today Wednesday is Chris Tomlin.
Speaker 1 (20:04):
Yeah, tom birthday.
Speaker 3 (20:06):
And then of course, uh, this coming weekend, Friday is
Matt's birthday.
Speaker 1 (20:09):
That's right.
Speaker 3 (20:10):
Yeah, so it's a big KSR birthday week.
Speaker 2 (20:12):
We've got a big party going on. Uh Saturday party. Yeah,
you make the trip over, yes, yeah, that's the plan.
Bringing your speedo. Uh No, I don't have a do
you own to? I feel like that is something you
would joke about, but actually own. Do you actually have
a speed on?
Speaker 3 (20:25):
I don't, but I've got uh some whitey tidies. I
guess I could cut and make him into a speedo.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
Do we think we can maybe get a replica of
the raccoon bikini and have some Maybe you could wear
the raccoon bikini that was up for selling Facebook market.
Speaker 3 (20:37):
Walk around the pool with that. Well, you know, I
can be the drink person, Yeah, like a cocktail mister.
Speaker 2 (20:44):
Uh no, not with you in that raccoon bikini. No,
I would not. But are you gonna bring a housewarming gift?
Are we supposed to do that?
Speaker 4 (20:51):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (20:52):
He said, no gifts, but uh, there'll be people bringing,
you know, something for him.
Speaker 1 (20:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (20:57):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (20:57):
Somebody brought me something on Friday the remote, which we
mentioned on KSR, but I haven't mentioned it on the
pre show because it happened after the pre show. You know,
people constantly, for whatever reason, Ryan loved to send me
foreign money. Well, I didn't get foreign money at first.
Initially I didn't think anyway, because somebody came up to
me at the remote on Friday and just handed me
(21:19):
a bobblehead of Sister gene Yes, who I once impersonated
on Twitter and for about two or three days until
it got shut down and it would viral.
Speaker 3 (21:27):
Everybody just blew up that Twitter account just blew up.
Speaker 1 (21:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (21:30):
But anyway, the person didn't eat here's my thing. He
came up to me, didn't say a word, handed me
the sister gen bibblehead, turned around and walked off. Didn't
even stay for the remote, wasn't even interested in the remote,
just wanted to hand me a sister gene bibblehead. I
opened it up and there's like twenty Guatemalan dollars or
whatever form of currency. I don't know if you call
them dollars in Guatemala, probably something else other than that.
(21:54):
But it was a thing that had a Gualmalan money
in there. So thank you to whoever you are, random
Streenger for for doing that. I appreciate it. Now I've
got it displayed in my bar. Look who's coming here.
It's Billy r Sports. Only thirty minutes late. Welcome, He's
got his live golf hat on. He's ready to go,
so we'll trade chairs here. Then there you go, Bed nice,
(22:14):
Bed nice joining you on the pre show. Good doings, lemons,
nice to meet you, meet you, Sirry sir, Yeah, there
you go. Ryan Lemon's always good in a pinch A
five nine two twenty two eighty seven. We'll come back,
We'll get Billy on here with this. We'll we'll reset
talk about everything happening from the weekend again. We're here
at glen Oaks Country Club and we'll be right back
for the KSR Golf Scramble on the pre Show.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
All right, welcome back.
Speaker 2 (22:36):
It is the KSR Pre Show live at glen Oaks
Country Club for the KSR Golf Scramble. A five nine
two twenty two eighty seven. Fake TG thunder Shuck says,
I think this is the traffic Billy is in and
it's a screenshot of w KYT and the headline says crash.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
I can't say the word.
Speaker 2 (22:57):
I think it's trying to say shuts down seventy five,
but the U is replaced with an I, so it
says crash, uh oh down I seventy five. But anyway,
you're here this morning, Yeah, you're here, so you all
get you all good? Are you disheveled or you do?
We need to give you a minute to go like
freshen up or.
Speaker 4 (23:16):
Your disheveled Okay, you know, uh set my alarm a
little bit early last night because I had to drive
down to Louisville for the KSR golf scramble here Glen Oaks,
and my body just naturally wakes me up at my
normal time. I'm like, huh, that's weird. My alarm never
went off. Yeah, well, I guess my phone never charged
last night. My phone was dead, and so Shannon, I
(23:38):
was still gonna make it here in time. I had
still left myself enough time to get here. Thank goodness.
You had the equipment, and where's going to set things up?
Speaker 1 (23:44):
Yeah? I got you.
Speaker 4 (23:45):
But then, uh, the traffic hit and then my phone
has me going off of the interstate on some back
roads and then my phone dies.
Speaker 2 (23:55):
So now you're on back roads which you're not familiar with,
and no GPS correct you know what, Etsy Witch, I'm
I'm blaming every I mean, I've spent the first segment
talking about my stretch of bad luck. You know, all
the things that happened, locking my keys in my car
at the State Fair.
Speaker 1 (24:12):
It happens.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
But yeah, so I'm glad to have you here, man,
I'm glad everything's good. So then you had to stop
and charge your phone just to find out how to
get it.
Speaker 4 (24:19):
Yeah, because I didn't know even how to even get
to the clubhouse, so I had to stop at McDonald's
to charge my phone. Missed the beginning of the show,
but I did hear about some of the bad luck
that you're having. Hope your mom's okay, dude, Oh yeah,
she's good. I appreciate you asking.
Speaker 2 (24:32):
Yeah, you know, I was telling Ryan, you know, if
you're going to have a heart attack. Her outcome was
the best possible scenario.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
So she's back home. Everything is good there. But it
finally caught up to me.
Speaker 4 (24:43):
I mean after even my childhood youth of my parents
printing out map quest directions to me getting a GPS
when I first got my first car, I've I've always
had something tell me where to go. I never had
to look around for once and know where I'm actually going.
And so it's finally caught up to me.
Speaker 2 (24:59):
Are you like, Because I even if I know how
to get there, like when I'm going somewhere and I
have to be there on time, even if I know
the way, I will always plug it into the GPS
because you don't know traffic ahead of you.
Speaker 1 (25:10):
Sure, Yeah, So you.
Speaker 2 (25:12):
Know, every morning when I'm going to iHeart, I know
how to get to Pour Street live. I've been there
a million times, but I'll still plug it into the
GPS because it tells me, all right, there's a backup
on sixty five. You may want to go off on
this back road today, just just because I don't want
to be stuck in that situation that you were just in.
Speaker 4 (25:28):
And it tried, it tried to help me. It just
took me on off roads that I had nowhere where
I was going. So I was like, okay, point six miles,
I'm setting the odometer in my car.
Speaker 1 (25:36):
Point six miles.
Speaker 4 (25:37):
I'm going to take a rite and then I'll be
back on the interstate here and then blah blah blah
blah blah. But I you know how much it means
to me to not be late, Shannon, So I am sorry.
Speaker 1 (25:45):
Oh it's so good man. That means I get one now.
Speaker 2 (25:47):
So now I get to show up thirty minutes late
to a future KSR pre show. The only thing is
usually I have the equipment so or you're.
Speaker 1 (25:53):
In studio where you have to exactly show started, so
you can't be that.
Speaker 2 (25:57):
I thought about you at the Kentucky State Fair, because
you know, the State Fair is the same thing every year,
different bands, but the same thing. You know, it's the
same setup as it's been since I was a kid.
But I went up and I talked to Freddie farm Bureau,
you know, the giant statue. And I remember last year
when we were at the State Fair, you didn't know
what Freddie Farm Bureau was. And I'm like, dude, this
guy is a staple. It's a big statue, like a
twenty foot tall statue that just sits there, but it
(26:18):
will have a real conversation with you. And you went
up and you talk to him, and it talked back
to you, and you're like, WHOA, Like this is crazy?
Speaker 1 (26:24):
Is this AI?
Speaker 2 (26:26):
Like, no, man's Freddy. He's talking to you. It's not AI.
It's a person actually talking to you.
Speaker 4 (26:30):
Yeah, And I'm like, damn, it must be hot inside, Freddy.
I mean, you guys set out there all day and
You're like, no, they're probably just over there in the
room looking out.
Speaker 2 (26:38):
I don't think he's actually inside the giant statue. I
think he's up there like in the little cool, air
conditioned to office.
Speaker 1 (26:46):
Introduced it to me. Now you're ruining it.
Speaker 2 (26:48):
But you know, it's kind of cool because if you're
having a bad day, you can just go up and
kind of vent to him, and he's like a he's
like a like a twenty foot tall psychiatrist. Then we'll
talk to you and you know, talking off the ledge.
If you're having a bad.
Speaker 1 (26:59):
Day up there, you say, I locked my gid. Yeah,
Cary Freddy, what do I do? I thought about you
this weekend.
Speaker 4 (27:06):
I moved my brother into his dorm at the University
of Kentucky. Remember he was a few days late because
he had to have emergency appendicitis arch Witch. Yeah, but
you know, you you did a show about like old
man radio and how you've you know, never felt older. Well,
I've never felt older than going on in that college campus, Shannon.
If you thought I looked young, I mean, these kids
(27:26):
look like they're twelve out there, these upcoming freshmen. But
moved him all in really nice dorm. He's got his
own room and his own bathroom. That's more than I
could say in the years that I, oh my god,
commented at Western you didn't have your own bathroom.
Speaker 1 (27:39):
No man, I woked to Lindsay Wilson, my freshman year.
So it's a communal right with the power.
Speaker 2 (27:44):
Yeah, well, you know, I moved back in my sophomore
through senior year at Bellerman, I lived at home, but
when I went to Lindsay Wilson, Dude, it's like a
I don't know, eight by eight room maybe a little bit.
Maybe I'm exaggerated. Maybe it's ten by ten. I don't
think twelve twelve is accurate. I think ten by ten maybe, huh.
(28:04):
And the beds, I mean had springs going through the mattresses,
like you couldn't get a good night's sleep there.
Speaker 1 (28:10):
And no, we didn't have a right.
Speaker 2 (28:11):
It was community shower, it was community bathroom. It wasn't
the most ideal situations. But you know what, it's a
it's what happens when you go to a smaller school.
I think you just have to expect that. But it
sounds like now like if you go to a good
school that you're gonna have like your own bathroom and everything.
It's like living in an apartment.
Speaker 1 (28:29):
It is.
Speaker 4 (28:29):
And the dorm beds are temperpedic, so I mean, it's
not just springs that you're laying on. This is nice feather.
But uh no, you know, he got his own room,
his own bathroom. Like I said, temp repeeding mattress. He's set,
he's ready to go. But people are playing pickleball out
on the basketball courts, and it was it really felt
nice to be back on a college campus.
Speaker 1 (28:50):
So it was nice moving him in this kitechy volleyball.
Speaker 2 (28:52):
I don't know if you've got the chance to watch
any of that, but they they sweep Wisconsin, sweep number
six Wisconsin on Friday, but then they turn around and
lose three to one to four Umber four ranked pit
on Sunday.
Speaker 1 (29:02):
So you know what that's gonna happen.
Speaker 2 (29:04):
Though, when you're playing the top twenty five as much
as they are, they're playing just about every team there
is in the top twenty five, you're going to take
your bumps along the way. But you know, unbeknownst to you,
volleyball seasons started.
Speaker 1 (29:16):
Thank you.
Speaker 4 (29:18):
This is why they do it right, This is why
they have a schedule like this. You want to play
the best of the best early on. Craig Skinner ain't
scared if you're scared to go to church, right, But yeah,
I did not get to watch any of it. I
was waiting till the spring to watch any of my
volleyball Shannon. Maybe it's just I wait until the championship
games when they start playing in the spring like that.
But best of luck did the volleyball team this year?
You know, we got a soccer game between Louisville and
(29:39):
Kentucky tonight.
Speaker 1 (29:40):
Oh yes, I mean.
Speaker 4 (29:41):
There's a lot starting to pick up where just what
inside two weeks of Kentucky.
Speaker 1 (29:45):
Football we are.
Speaker 2 (29:46):
Yeah, and I didn't really get the chance to get
your take yet on Mark Mitchell.
Speaker 1 (29:50):
Yeah, he is now a cat.
Speaker 2 (29:52):
That ruling came down from the judge at twelve oh
one on Friday, just as I predicted, and then on
Saturday it was announced that he is committed to Kentucky.
So your thoughts on getting Mark Mitchell.
Speaker 4 (30:04):
You know that in the overall perception of Mark Pope
in the offseason going into year three, I think it's
completely changed a little bit. If you know you were
upset or nervous about this roster construction, it really has
come home in these last couple of months or so,
with the addition of the best shooter in the portal
in Mom Chilovich and maybe the best fifth year player
(30:24):
option available in Mark Mitchell. I mean it looks like
Mark Pope now enters year three with his best roster
that he's had here at Kentucky. And and when we
were trying to find who's going to be that breakout
guy like usman Enjang or Justin McBride, I feel like
those guys are going to have less minutes to play
now because of a Mark Mitchell coming in, a guy
that's put buckets against Kentucky just recently, so really excited.
Speaker 1 (30:47):
It seems like this is who they wanted.
Speaker 4 (30:49):
You know, we're talking about Jackson Collier and and his
zoom call that couldn't have gone better. Well, maybe they
were just trying to keep their options open if this
court case did not go through. So, as I understand it,
Alex Safari's not eligible now for the football team, and
Min Mitchell is for the basketball team.
Speaker 2 (31:03):
But if Afar he is Laurry, you're ing up easy
for me to say and trying to fight this. So
but as I was saying in the first segment, how
long is that gonna take? Are we gonna get a
ruling in week two three four of the football season. Now,
all of a sudden, he comes back, well.
Speaker 4 (31:19):
Stein pulling off the practice field, right, you're not apt
to well, you're not practicing. I mean that's probably the
smart thing to do, right, you don't want to play
a player, then he's not eligible in week five and
you know you're vacating games or whatnot. It's just a
really strange time which we're trying to get these fifth
year guys back into the fold as.
Speaker 1 (31:35):
We get so close to college football season starting.
Speaker 4 (31:37):
But man, it's now we can really start getting excited
for about this basketball, right, not if you weren't already
Like now you I think you're a top ten, if
not a top five preseason team.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
Isn't that crazy too? Though?
Speaker 2 (31:47):
You talk about it, and I was mentioning this earlier,
like how all the misses on recruits, all the guys
that you know, and then the memes came out with Man,
and you know, everybody was just kind of dancing on
on Mark Pope's for verbial grave for this recruiting class,
and then you end up with mom Chilovich and you
end up with with Mark Mitchell, and all of a sudden,
(32:07):
now this roster that before mom Chilovitch committed looked like
deplete it, and God, what's gonna happen this year. You
get Mom Chilovich and then you get Mark Mitchell, and
all of a sudden, this roster looks pretty good.
Speaker 4 (32:19):
You get Ryan Hampton, who is a huge in the
next year's class, and you had worries about your high
school recruiting, and that called that a little bit. I mean,
go back to the Banner Boys, Shannon. You didn't get
any of those Briers right. You didn't get rob Right,
you didn't get Freeman, who eventually ended up getting hurt
right before the seasons even started. And you didn't get
Tyrone Stokes. And you look at that in our microwave
(32:40):
society and our culture, it's this is unacceptable. You're at Kentucky,
you should get everybody that you want. Well, I mean,
things happened for a reason. When I stopped in that
McDonald's to charge my phone, I saw a friend from
high school I hadn't seen in thirteen years, really at.
Speaker 1 (32:56):
A random McDonald's. He's like, what are you doing charging
my phone?
Speaker 3 (32:58):
Man?
Speaker 4 (32:59):
Yeah, I don't get the work. I'm trying to get
to work. I should be on the air right now.
But I you know, so I hadn't seen him in
thirteen fifteen years. It's happened for a reason. So what
was the reason why I'm at him? Or what I mean?
What do you think the reason is that? I mean,
you think you say things. You don't get Freeman, you
don't get robb Right, you don't get Tyrant Stokes. You're
able to bring in a guy like Ryan Hampton. Maybe
Stokes wasn't the guy that you want him to be
(33:20):
when you saw him running in jeans the other day
and it opened the door for you'd begin able to
get a mom Chilovich, to be able to bring in
a last minute guy like Mark Mitchell.
Speaker 1 (33:28):
These things that it.
Speaker 2 (33:29):
All happened for a reason I was saying earlier, is
like it's like you're falling upstairs. You know, some people just,
no matter what, end up in a good situation. So
like you miss on all these other guys, but then
you end up with a guy like Mark Mitchell and
all of a sudden you're in good shape.
Speaker 1 (33:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (33:43):
But by the way, is McDonald's the place that like
if you want to plug in your phone, that's the
place to go.
Speaker 1 (33:48):
Do they just have plugins? Well everywhere I was just
that's what I was hoping, like they probably have an outlet.
Speaker 2 (33:52):
Did you have to hand it to the person behind
the counter and say no, I don't want I mcgriddel,
I just want you to plug my phone in for me.
Speaker 4 (33:58):
No, And they're not talking anybody. It's all yos screens
that you go to anyway.
Speaker 2 (34:01):
So you can go to McDonald's and they've got just
outlets in the walls to plug.
Speaker 1 (34:05):
They had one, they had won, they had one. Good
think somebody else wasn't trying to charge them.
Speaker 4 (34:09):
I thought that was better than a gas station, right,
because you go up and down the gummy worm ale
and the the sodas. There's not a lot of outlets
there like McDonald's. Don't think there's any, you know, I
don't think there is any. So yeah, all right, we'll
take a break. Eight five nine two eight oh twenty
two eighty seven. Oh before we do, let's get John
on here. He has been waiting for a minute. Hey John,
Hey John, how are you doing. I'm fine? You all
(34:29):
read Americans, You're.
Speaker 1 (34:31):
You're a great American. What's going on? Johnny?
Speaker 2 (34:33):
Did you watch the football or the football the volleyball
game over the weekend?
Speaker 3 (34:37):
Yes? Said yes, I did, and.
Speaker 4 (34:40):
Then we I know it, said Wisconsin and with all
to Playsburg, Picksburg being Peaceborstus two thousand and eight.
Speaker 2 (34:47):
Two thousand and eight, Wow, oh, been at Thorn. You know,
when I was on with Richie, I had John Short
on and he was able to tell me the score
of the Kentucky LSU basketball.
Speaker 1 (34:55):
Game from like nineteen ninety. I was like, what it
was he knew the score was.
Speaker 3 (34:59):
It was.
Speaker 1 (35:00):
That's impressive, John.
Speaker 4 (35:01):
Yeah, yeah, yes, And I sorry about your mama and
sorry about teeny cos.
Speaker 2 (35:06):
Yeah, I'm sorry about Tina as well. I don't know
if we had a chance to talk about her on
the pre show. And John, thank you for the call.
I appreciate it. You know, Tina, I didn't know her
really well, but you know, worked with Larry Vaught. And
when we went to the Bahamas, the trip with KSR
and the basketball team to the Bahamas, she sat like
right next to me and she was and I was like,
(35:26):
I've never been this, you know, far away from home,
and you know, she was kind of holding my hand
along the way and helping me.
Speaker 1 (35:32):
It's like, all right, now there's what you need to do.
And there's the first time I'd ever use my passport
or anything else she was teaching you. Yes, yeah, so
yeah she was.
Speaker 2 (35:39):
She was right there along with me, and I would,
you know, see her quite a bit all throughout the
time we were there. So just sad news and just
a great person, always had a smile on her face,
and somebody that I always enjoyed talking to when I
would run into her.
Speaker 1 (35:52):
So I'm sorry to hear that she passed, but thinking
about her family. So I never got to meet her.
Speaker 4 (35:56):
But some of the stories you and Ryan have shared
over these last couple of days of and really thought provoking.
Speaker 1 (36:01):
So rest in peace to Tina. We'll take a break.
Speaker 2 (36:03):
A five nine two eight, twenty two eighty seven final
segment coming up next to the KSR pre Show Live
at the Golf Scramble. All right, welcome back, final segment
of the KSR pre Show. The crew's are here. See
Drew Franklin rolling up here. He's got his coffee ready
to go, ready to crush him right down the middle time.
Yeah he did. Yeah, everybody's here on time except for you.
Speaker 1 (36:22):
Guess work. Goodyear you got a tardy.
Speaker 2 (36:25):
Yeah we're talking about we were talking about perfect attendance
last week in schools, right, yeah, and you show up
thirty minutes late to day. I was telling you the
guys from Blackstone Cherry man, not only are they are
great band, but they're just awesome people.
Speaker 1 (36:36):
And I was talking to their.
Speaker 2 (36:38):
Their their drum tech Jeffrey, and he was like, man,
I listen to you guys all the time, so I
appreciate that. And then their bass player Steve listens to
us apparently quite a bit. So uh, shout out to
those guys, Ben Chris, John Fred, great dudes from right
here in Kentucky. And they crushed it man, like they
were great, great, great band. Do you ever get a
chance to check out Blackstone Cherry. Don't miss them?
Speaker 1 (36:58):
Now? Are you gonna be going out? Are you gonna
be out there Friday night? Yes?
Speaker 2 (37:00):
So I'm back out there again Friday for hair Ball,
which is a great, great name for a hair band tribute.
So I guess they play like all the you know,
the deaf Leopards and the poisons, and I think they
do some kiss and that type of stuff.
Speaker 1 (37:13):
So if you're into that. It's a free show.
Speaker 2 (37:15):
I mean, once you get into the State Fair itself,
it's free, so you might as well go check it out.
Speaker 4 (37:19):
Well, Marisa and I are going to meet you there
at some point, dude, we'll come hang out with you Friday.
Speaker 1 (37:23):
Let's do it.
Speaker 2 (37:24):
Man on the way in, I heard this and it's
something I haven't even thought of. Do you ever think
of like just random diseases and like things that existed.
It feels like years ago but then went away, like
the measles for instance, the measles outbreak. No, I'll bring
this up because there's a measles outbreak, seventy four cases
in the state. They say it's the most since nineteen
(37:45):
ninety one. So when you when's the last time you
heard about or thought about measles? I know you don't
sit around on a Sunday afternoon on your couch just
thinking about measles. But it's one of those things that
I hear that I go, what beasles? What's the months
are they next? Well, that's concerning let fever? Is that
like chicken pox too? Like it's the Oregon Trail? Remember
the organ? Did you used to play organ kid?
Speaker 1 (38:06):
Yeah? I was never good at it. I always died.
Is it dysentery? Is this scarlet fever? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (38:12):
Like?
Speaker 2 (38:12):
What are all the things you could die from? On
the Oregon Trail. Well, you can drown by trying to
ford the river.
Speaker 4 (38:17):
Yeah, like I always yeah, each like Native Americans or
Indians right the way, it was still your food, I think, right, well,
I remember playing it. But these kids today they don't
play something like that anymore.
Speaker 1 (38:28):
Oregon Trail. Yeah, I mean you do again.
Speaker 2 (38:30):
You want to talk about filling old, go up to
somebody that's somewhat young and talk about the Oregon Trail.
Speaker 1 (38:35):
They're like, are you one hundred and fifty years old?
What you played it on? It?
Speaker 4 (38:39):
Like the old Apple before Apple was right? At least
we're talking about a computer game. We're not like, we
didn't go on the Oregon Trail. That was the ancestors
before us.
Speaker 2 (38:46):
I was wonderingly, is that's something that's like extremely dangerous?
Apparently I had to do a crash course on measles
real quick during the break there. One it says one
in three kids will die per one thousand cases.
Speaker 1 (38:58):
So you can't die from it. But it's not like
crazy hi mortality rate.
Speaker 4 (39:03):
Well, who knows what will come back next? Ebola was
another one. Yeah, right, I will be on the eighteenth
Green today.
Speaker 1 (39:09):
What are you doing? I'm going to be.
Speaker 4 (39:10):
It's a presenting sponsor hole. I guess I'm gonna be
doing some putting. I thought Ryan was doing the putting.
He's gonna be on whole nine with Matt. So I
got the text last night, can you sit on the
eighteenth green?
Speaker 2 (39:20):
Well, I mean, look, here's the thing. No offense to Ryan,
but he did go to prison because he's bad at pudding,
so bad, so bad he went to prison for a week.
So like if it were like my you know, potential
going I'm going to jail if I don't hit these
putts and I got two guys to sink the putt
for me, I'm gonna hand the club over to you.
Speaker 1 (39:40):
Well that's very kind.
Speaker 4 (39:40):
I was watching Scotti Scheffler win all these golf tournaments,
so I decided to change my whole putting grip just
based on what something I saw on TV Shannon, So
maybe some golfers can relate to that.
Speaker 1 (39:49):
I now have the claw grip on my putting grip.
And oh yeah, the claw grip.
Speaker 2 (39:53):
Yeah claw, yeah, what does that even mean?
Speaker 4 (39:56):
So like, now I make a claw with my right hand,
which is actual underneath my left hand.
Speaker 1 (40:01):
Now this is really in the weeds. For these golfers now.
Speaker 4 (40:04):
But it's all of mental right, Like when you only
have five feet left on your putt, but you know
you may have to go to prison for twenty four
hours if you miss a putt, then it's going to
be much stuffer to make.
Speaker 1 (40:14):
So I understand that the pressure got the best of
the rhine there. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (40:17):
I gave up on it a long time ago, like
when I started spending too much time on the weekends
just being frustrated and bad at golf, and I spent
more time chasing my ball through the woods, and it
was it was more like an Easter egg hunt for
me than it was the game of golf.
Speaker 1 (40:30):
I said, you know what, enough of this, I'm done.
I'll give you some credit. Though.
Speaker 4 (40:33):
We went to a golf course and we had a
simulator that set up your first swing.
Speaker 1 (40:37):
You hit the ball backwards. That's what I was aiming for.
And I was and I was like, I don't know
if I've ever seen that. Well, that's what I was.
It was a trick shot, absolutely, just the ball go back.
Speaker 3 (40:45):
Well.
Speaker 2 (40:45):
See, I stopped actually playing golf and I just do
like trick shots now, right if you need me to
swing forward. But hit it backwards. I can do that.
Not many people can do that. I don't think many
people could hit the ball backwards.
Speaker 1 (40:56):
When they're spring. No, I'm trying to give you that credit.
Speaker 2 (40:59):
That was really impress Yeah, let me tell you one
more time about DraftKings promo code KSR bet five. Get
one hundred and fifty in rewards when you do that
with live bet, same game, part of lays player props.
It's all on the DraftKings sportsbook app. And we got
Week zero coming out bill. A Week zero's this week.
Speaker 4 (41:15):
I cannot wait and to get the football season started.
We'll have to wait another week for Kentucky, but I
think the next two years that's when Kentucky will be playing.
Speaker 1 (41:23):
I love it. I love the Week zero games. Go ahead.
Speaker 2 (41:25):
If you're gonna play some of these teams that normally
nobody would pay attention to, you're gonna play a Murray,
why not play them on Week zero when there's no
other football going on. Get all the eyes on you
and play those games early. Plus we get to you know,
a week earlier football. What's bad about that?
Speaker 4 (41:38):
Exactly? So exciting time. I'll be on time for the
show tomorrow. So we won't have any issues though. All right,
well we expected to be on time. Travis Kelsey, good work.
All right, let's it for the KSR pre show. KSR
is up next. We're live here at Glen Oaks Country
Club and we'll talk to you in a few minutes
on KSR next.
