Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome everyone to another edition of the KSR Pre Show.
Today is Wednesday, June twenty fifth. I'm Billy Rutledge along
with Shannon the Dude. You can give us a call
in the Clark's Pumping Shop phone line. That's eight five
nine two a zho two two eight seven. Text us
at five oh two two sixty five six six five six,
And it's always The KSR Pre Show is brought to

(00:21):
you by Italics Fine Italian Dining here in Lexington, Kentucky.
A lot of things going on today in normal slow time.
It's Unpopular Opinion Day. A little later on KSR. The
NBA Draft is a little bit later tonight. Uh, And
I've got something i want to talk about. But I've
got to start with what Shannon told me right before
he went on to the show, and right before we

(00:42):
went on live, he said he's lying about his aid.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
Didn't even didn't even mean to do it.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
Look, but do you mean he didn't mean to lie
about your age.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
I walked outside and I was just going to grab
some water before we got going here on the show,
and I don't run into Vinetti, and I go to
Vinetti and give him the old little know a little
jab to the stomach, because that's what I do with
my buddies.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
Boys.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
Yeah, we pick on each other. Like, here's the thing, Billy,
I don't know if you're like this, but people that
I consider my friends, I pick on them and they
pick on me. That's just like how we show our
friendship with each other. You know, like if I don't
pick on you, then I probably don't like you. So
you should consider when I pick on you, you know,
a good thing.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
I believe me. Yeah, I know that.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
It's not personal. It just means, you know, I like you,
so I give you a hard time. That's what I
do with my friends. I don't know if you're like that,
but that's how I am with that with people I
know it a long time and people that I that
I like. But anyway, he said, well, happy birthday, buddy,
and I go, it's not my birthday. Oh I thought
I saw a thing on Facebook, sais your birthday? Like, no, no,
I'm a December baby. He goes, how old are you?
And I just said, I go forty one, And I

(01:46):
thought that was the truth. But then I started adding
up the math in my head and the math wasn't
mathing I'm actually forty two and forgot that I'm forgot
that I am forty two.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
I don't even know how old I am.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
Isn't that crazy? Like you get to a certain age,
you forget how old you are. I think I want
to forget how.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
Old I I think that's a little bit about it
is you want to be forty one. But they all
kind of run together a little bit after, you know,
certain birthdays. Channy started to lose track of time. Just
saying that undefeated.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
Yes, just saying forty two is like what what?

Speaker 3 (02:20):
No, I'm not forty two, although my body feels like
it today because I got into the wrestling ring and
I know you like to think that it's a big trampoline,
but I got in there and I worked out for
the first time in a month in the ring. Oh god,
it just breaks me down, like for the rest.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
Of the day. And those ropes heading back a little bit.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
Oh my god, it's it's it's what you would call
a bump where you fall flat back on the thing,
you know, and we've already talked about there's boards, there's
wood underneath there, and you got a little bit of patty.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
But it legitimately hurts now. It doesn't hurt in the
moment as much.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
I mean it does some, but not as much as
it hurts later in the day, like when you have
a time, you know, like when you're working out, and
you know it hurts when you're working out, but then
the next day you really feel it. Sure, it's that
type of filling. So I fill every bit of forty
two this morning.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Well, they say you age in three major gaps. I
believe it's thirty four, like sixty and seventy three.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
Or something like that, Shannon. So I just hope to
make it a sixty thirty four.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
Rapidly we're approaching for me, and you know sixty will
You'll be there before you know it, Shannon. He'll be
telling Venetti that you're still forty one, sure, and you're
passing them in the in the lobby today the case
our golf scramble goes on sell today at ten am,
and that's always a good time. This one, the Louisville
one at glen Oaks. We've done it there for many years, Shannon,
And while you don't stick around all the time, it

(03:40):
is one of the you know, the most fun things
I think we do as a show like as an
event outside of the remotes that we do every Friday. Mind,
these golf scrambles are a ton of fun, So be
on the lookout for the link coming out around ten
am for the KSR Golf Scramble.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
Yep, part of it is the golf itself. The other
part of it is interacting with you know, different listeners,
and then of course the third part of it is
the sponsors are the sponsors for each hole, which many
of them involve alcohol. And after you've gone through the
back nine or front nine, whichever you start with, by
the time you get to the other part of the scramble,

(04:16):
your three seats to the wind. So you know, it
does get a lot of fun.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
Yeah, it's a much different scramble on the back nine
of the CaSR Scrambled that it is the front. You know,
we've got a lot of great people that come out,
whether it be like the Spoken Spirits or Whiskey Thief
to get you through or Silk Velvet Whiskey who is
going to give you a little bit of the pick
me up when you when maybe it's a little hot
out there. But scramble is the best way to play golf.
You know what I mean, because you could hit a

(04:40):
really bad shot, you know what, you just pick up
that ball and go to the best shot of the group.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
It's for you. You don't have to be perfect, no pressure.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
You can you can get really down on yourself in
the sport of golf and a scramble, just pick up
and go to the next shot. And that's in when
you're with a bunch of friends and you're drinking a
little bit. That's that's I think that's the best way
to play. There's no doubt about it. And Ryan let
me and gets to put for you.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
On a hole. I mean, what more could you want?

Speaker 4 (05:02):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (05:02):
At that point, yeah, I think he maybe sunk one
the entire lars Yeah, yeah, too bad. He couldn't do
that when he was putting for prison. But yeah, I
think he got one in on the last scramble in Lexington.
So yeah, we'll look forward to that. We'll have that
link for you up later on today on social media.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
I still get shivers watch and are thinking about watching
Ryan in those putts because you feel bad after he
misses one or two. But then it gets it got
progressively worse after that. But got head, got the yips,
it did. It definitely did. And that's that's something that
can happen in golf. I mentioned that because not only
does the KSR Golf Scramble go on sale at ten
am later today, but I competed in a scramble yesterday,

(05:40):
Shannon for the Ronald McDonald House. Played with our guy
Nathan Nelson and got my brother to play with me
as well, but played behind Colin Chandler in Trent Noah
for half the time. And let me tell you, those
guys got some good looking golf swings. They are good
on the hardwood and on the golf course, Shannon. And
like I said, you know you have a bad shot,
you know what, you can just pick it up and go.

(06:01):
It's the best part about scrambles. So I'm not saying
if they had maybe one or two of those shots, Shannon,
but they looked pretty good, looked like they were having
a good time.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
So big thank you to the Ronald McDonald House yesterday.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
No you said their shots look good. Now, what about
your shot? Because I remember you just mentioned soak vevet whiskey.
You tell the story the last scramble you nearly hit
the soilk velvet whiskey guys or ladies in the head.
Did you almost hit Colin Chandler or Trent Noah in
the head with this shot?

Speaker 2 (06:23):
No, I was.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
I was very careful not to hit into those guys.
I would not want to be the guy that hits
Colin Chandler on the head, gives him a big lump
on his forehead. He's trying to go through summer conditioning. Billy,
our sports is hitting loose golf balls out there. But no, no,
this was probably one of the best scrambles I've ever
played in. Like playing wise, me and my brother kind
of took over. We shot thirteen under. It was good

(06:44):
for not first place, But Shannon, when you're on a
hole where you can spend twenty five hundred dollars and
get a one on the hole, then you know it's
gonna be tough to compete and try to win any competition.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Oh yeah, you're basically buying your way to a championship.

Speaker 3 (06:57):
At that point, you can buy your way to a
championship the New york Yads of the Golf, the Ron
McDonald House Golf Scramble at that point.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
Now, let me ask.

Speaker 3 (07:05):
You're talking about Trent Noah and there's the story that
Mark Pope wants Trent Noah to gain eighteen pounds before
the start of the season. Was he looking a little
a little heavier, a little heftier. How was our guy
Trent looking out there?

Speaker 2 (07:17):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (07:18):
I wouldn't like, I wouldn't call him chubby or anything
like that, Shane. I mean, he looked like he had
some muscle on him, maybe a little bit of a
more of a fuller frame.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
But I got to think that's a tough task. Somebody
tells you you got to.

Speaker 1 (07:30):
Gain eighteen pounds in a matter of months, Yeah, and
it's unreasonable.

Speaker 3 (07:33):
I mean, unless we're just talking about fat. But I
don't think that Mark Pope wants Trent Noa to gained
eighteen pounds of fat. He wants him to be solid muscle.
And as somebody sent to us, I think last week
they said, you know, that is tough for even bodybuilders
to put on that kind of weight that quickly. So
I don't think that's reasonable for him to fit on
eighteen pounds of muscle between now and November.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
I did the five thousand doubts, five thousand calorie Damien
Collin challenge back in the day, and I had maybe
two huge burritos from Moe's and then I think I
did the rest in olive oil and thin mints. Shannon,
I was just finding ways to cheat around the system,
right and get and get calories. And I mean he's
got to eat healthy food, right, Like he's got to
be building muscles, so I mean theoretically he's got to

(08:16):
eat a lot more than that. Yeah, speaking of eating, Shannon,
it's summertime. So let me ask you this. How much
how often are you firing up the grill? Do you
have a grill at your house?

Speaker 5 (08:27):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (08:27):
Yeah, just about every weekend.

Speaker 3 (08:31):
Every weekend. Yeah, at least once. You know, it might
go to his simple stuff, Like I'm not getting sophisticated.
I'm not doing ribs or anything crazy. It's usually burgers, brats,
hot dogs, that type of thing.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
I've had a charcoal grill for the longest time, but
just this last May, I got a gas grill. Let
me tell you, Shannon, I'm becoming a little obsessed. I'm
talking four to five times a week I'm firing.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
Up the grill. Well, Marissa's got to be loving that.
She's loving it.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
Everybody in the family is because I'm cooking like a madman,
you know, sometimes when she doesn't get off work till
eight nine pm.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
I'm I've got everything.

Speaker 1 (09:04):
Ready to go cooking on the grill. I'm starting to evolve,
shinning Like. We had hot dogs yesterday and you know
what I did. I put the buns on the grill.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
Oh look out, now, come out. I mean we're stepping up.
We're big stepping now.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
So you know, if anybody's got like summer barbecuing grilling tips,
if you'd want to send us oar away five two
two six five six six five six is the text line.
You know, I started working with indirect heat the other day, shinning,
cooking a big old Tomahawk steak, Like I'm going into
this whole new world of cooking some food here.

Speaker 3 (09:33):
Yeah, you're getting deep into the grilling, of the verbiage
of indirect heat. How many people do you think of
grilled out and don't even know what that means.

Speaker 1 (09:41):
See, I didn't know it was for Yeah, for a
while I was just cooking right on the right on
the flame chain, and that's not the best thing.

Speaker 3 (09:47):
Yeah, pretty soon you're gonna have like the chopped up
like onions and vegetables out there on the grill.

Speaker 2 (09:54):
You're gonna have the potato and everything else going out there.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
We're wrapping the potato and some tinfoil and putting it
on the top shelf. I mean, we're doing it all.
But you know what, there's still a lot to learn.
So if anybody's got some tips, you know, you know,
putting the tech the meat at room temperature goes a
long way. Putting some good seasoning on it or a marinade.

Speaker 4 (10:11):
You know.

Speaker 1 (10:12):
I've always wondered how Matt's doing with his cooking. Haven't
heard a word about it.

Speaker 4 (10:16):
You know.

Speaker 3 (10:17):
It's like, hey, you hear about things. Oh yeah, I'm
gonna start cooking, and haven't heard anything about it.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
So I don't know.

Speaker 3 (10:23):
I think that you have advanced quicker than he has,
because I haven't heard about any of his cooking ventures here,
you know, at all this summer.

Speaker 6 (10:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (10:32):
Yeah, well, I I think he bought a book that
was going to break it down for him scientifically. But
that's not how you do it, man. Just throw yourself
into the fire. And I know Drew and Ryan do
a little grilling on their own. Two bad Ryan's not
gonna be hosting any more summer pool parties. For the
Kentucky football team. I guess his neighbors are are fine
with that, right.

Speaker 2 (10:48):
Yeah, but aren't we doing like a pool party with
KOSR soon?

Speaker 1 (10:51):
Or oh you know what, I think we are doing
a CS pool's remote at Ryan's house again if you
remember if we did.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
That, but I don't. Is that one the public I
don't know.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
I shouldn't speak. I don't want there to be one
hundred people at Ryan's backyard. Well it's not approved.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
I think it was a no crowd show last year,
and I think we showed up anyway, if you remember.

Speaker 3 (11:10):
So again goes back to what we were talking about
on KSR. Should people's home addresses be public knowledge? And
I say no, you should not be able to get
on Google and find out where somebody lives.

Speaker 2 (11:22):
I disagree with that. What if they want to send
you some money, don't want it. I don't want it.
People keep sending you.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
Old people would think, hey, on the surface, Shannon would
love your money, Oh yeahs dollars.

Speaker 3 (11:33):
Or if you have foreign currency than nickel, yeah, I
mean I get you know this currency and you look
it up and it's worth like two pennies. It costs
more to meil the money to me with the stamp
of the envelope than the money cost itself.

Speaker 1 (11:49):
So you'll probably just keep that as a collection item. Right,
You're going to go to the bank and say.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
What can I get for this?

Speaker 3 (11:55):
Well, I do need to go through it, because you know,
I think there was one guy this this Tennessee who
sent me on accident a bill that was worth one
hundred dollars US dollars. One hundred US dollars, So I've
still got that one, but I may have to go
through and see, like what the other ones are worth.
I think most of them are worth next to nothing.
But yeah, it would be kind of a cool collage

(12:15):
to put up in the man garage, right the main kid.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
Yeah, no, absolutely, if you frame it right, it could
be definitely be cool. But leave it to a Tennessee
fan to not know the value of something that they're sending.
Speaking of former volunteers, we'll talk about the Cincinnati Reds
and the debut of Chase Burns, a former volunteer pitcher
who had quite the debut. The NBA draft is tonight,
Shannon Cooper Flag's number one, right, I mean, the MAVs

(12:38):
rigged the NBA is rigged and the MAVs got the
first pick, so they can get Cooper Flag. Right, But
there are three Kentucky players that have gone number one overall?
Can you name them for e Mey Shannon?

Speaker 2 (12:48):
Did Wall go number one?

Speaker 1 (12:50):
Wall went number one? Yeah, he is one of three.
He's there popular modern players, so we're not going too
far back, was it.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
Anthony Davis? Not overthink? That's two, that's two to.

Speaker 1 (13:03):
Three, and this guy could be considered one of the
best three point shooters, big men.

Speaker 2 (13:08):
Karl, Anthony Towns.

Speaker 1 (13:09):
That's right though, Okay, three? Yeah, okay, so three Kentucky
number one overall picks. Duke is looking for their sixth
with Cooper Flag tonight, and I think that is likely
what is to happen. Meanwhile, the Kentucky players that we're
on the lookout for likely won't be picked tonight.

Speaker 2 (13:24):
This is day one.

Speaker 1 (13:25):
Day two will be tomorrow where Kobe Brea, Amari Williams,
and Jackson Robinson will hope to hear their name called.
And we talked a little bit about that yesterday, Shannon.
But it is always nice to see on draft nights
these guys dreams come true, right to a degree.

Speaker 2 (13:39):
These are great nights for the athletes.

Speaker 3 (13:41):
Oh yeah, and you know, hopefully we'll get to hear
all three former Kentucky players name called the night. I
think at least two out of three is very possible.
You're not hearing as much about Jackson Robinson as of late,
but I think there's still a chance he could sneak
in in the second round. And I think Amri's still
on the second round late projection per pictures. I think

(14:01):
Amari was in some of the mocks when it comes
to sneaking into the second round. Jackson Robinson was not
one prospect. Stock is falling considerably. The man from Rutgers,
Ace Bailey. There's actually two guys from Rutgers that are
very good prospects.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
But he's dropping very quickly, Shannon because his height was
listed at six ten, but then he got into the
combine and he only listed six seven and a half.

Speaker 5 (14:24):
What WHOA?

Speaker 3 (14:25):
These are like some overexaggerated wrestling heights, you know, like
they used to say Yoko Zuna was like five hundred
pounds and then next week he'd be five hundred and
forty pounds, and it just kept going up and up
and up. So you're telling me, though, you're six seven
and a half in reality, but you're listed at six' ten.

Speaker 2 (14:42):
Six' ten on my Guys wear. Rutgers roster is he
wearing high hills? Out there but what is he doing
like wearing? Some lifts. That's embarrassing that's, regious, Though right
like it's.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
Too much that is embarrassing if you get called out
you list yourself at six ten and you're actually six
foot so.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
Of that if we're going by, those NUMBERS then I
guess i'm like six. Foot, three.

Speaker 3 (15:04):
Yeah, you KNOW if i GET if i get to
USE the nba skill of height versus reality and what they're. Actually,
Listing yeah i've always wanted to be Six, foot shannon
AND now. I, Am yeah i'm just list myself as six. To,
one maybe like you list yourself as a. Different age
well like a, driver's license can't you just pick whatever height? You,
WANT like i don't think they actually, measure YOU.

Speaker 1 (15:24):
M i mean THAT is, I mean i'm trying to
think back OF the dmv they do ask. YOUR height
i don't do you?

Speaker 2 (15:29):
Get measured AND can I say i'm seven? Foot six
you could.

Speaker 1 (15:31):
Say your eye color is. DIFFERENT too i guess if you.
Wanted to but then you know they try to identify
you and you don't match your.

Speaker 2 (15:38):
Idea exactly there, you go you get away. WITH it i.
Get away i'm, just saying you've talked about getting away
with the. Perfect crime they find. His idea what this can't.
Be him they'd be likely to hold you just because
your id's. Are all he's listed at seven. Foot two oh.
You're not he's only five. Foot eleven that can't.

Speaker 1 (15:53):
Be him, You know i've always heard of people listing
maybe you're a little an inch taller, or not but
like six seven and.

Speaker 3 (16:00):
You're taking some serious liberties when you call yourself six'
ten and you're only six seven. And a, half that's
right giving yourself two and, A, half inches well that
could go a.

Speaker 2 (16:09):
Lot of ways they'd be. Beneficial in life that's.

Speaker 1 (16:12):
Take a book five nine two eight two. Two eight
Seven it's a wednesday edition TO The Ks. O pre,
Show join us we've got much more. To talk about
we will.

Speaker 5 (16:19):
Be right.

Speaker 2 (16:19):
Back welcome back IT Is The.

Speaker 1 (16:22):
Kasr pre, show you know some people just turn, thirty,
EVERY year right i mean they don't want to have
a fortieth that's true for.

Speaker 2 (16:30):
Forty second birthday i'm trying to.

Speaker 3 (16:32):
Get stuck in. That, time loop well no matter how,
old you get. You, stay, thirty well hege it's.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
Just, a number.

Speaker 1 (16:38):
Sure that's sure don't take it too personally when your
bones are creaking getting out of bed eight five nine
two eight oh two. Two eight seven, One person says
shannon must, Really, like you billy. Since he has since
he says he picks. ON his friends i would say. So,
As well yeah i'll pick on, you every.

Speaker 2 (16:54):
Day every.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
Morning, that's right also you can always listen to the
show via podcast And On the. iHeart radio app and
Something that the iHeartRadio app does is that it has
a transcript of everything that is said. On the show so,
if you check if you check on the ksrpre show,
and you're listening you can see the transcript side by side.
As YOU listen and i guess it took that for

(17:15):
me to realize how stupid some of THE things, That,
i say shannon when it's written, out like that.

Speaker 2 (17:19):
Do you have them in? Front of you do you?

Speaker 1 (17:20):
Have, an example well somebody sent me an example of
one of the conversations yesterday that we had and where,
the speaker says would it BE weird if i wore
EyeBlack to the studio ONE day, and, i admit yeah
maybe that would be.

Speaker 3 (17:31):
A little weird you should just, Do it anyway just
do it when. We're on remote our next Remote Is
what Friday Friday at assured Partners.

Speaker 1 (17:38):
Here in lexington why don't you? JUST wear IT i
think i should come in. With the EyeBlack we will
be outside with.

Speaker 2 (17:44):
The good weather. THERE you go i think, it's a
perfect perfect time for you, to do it and we'll.

Speaker 1 (17:48):
See everybody works so if everybody doesn't listen to, the
pre show might come OUT for A ksr on friday
And think is billy ready for the baseball game later?

Speaker 2 (17:56):
Today? OR what yeah i think you should. Definitely do
it we'll test The theory because i've.

Speaker 3 (18:00):
Never HAD eyeblock, LIKE i said i played baseball, all
those years never put. ON eye block i just assumed
it was a fashion statement more. So, THAN functionable Okay
i guess I'm Going To. Dick's sporting GOODS then should
i get like the PAINT or should i get? Like
the sticker because. THEY'RE two different i.

Speaker 2 (18:14):
Get the paint we. WANT to paint i want to. Paint, Your,
face okay yeah you know some guys go a little
like go, a little crazy what Like war paint like
where he goes down is not and then at that
point it goes all the way. Down their cheeks. We'll
paint you we'll make you look like.

Speaker 1 (18:28):
The.

Speaker 2 (18:28):
Ultimate, WARRIOR okay see i. DON'T want that I just
want i just want to see. If it works. WE'LL
test It i guess i'll Do.

Speaker 1 (18:35):
It, on friday Uh And maybe uh shannon will pick
on me because we're buds, eight five nine two eighth to.
Two eight seven before we get, to the phones let's
talk a little BIT about what i teased in. The
First segment chase burns Debuts For. The cincinnati reds he
was the number two overall pick in the last OR
in the mlb draft about. A year ago uh makes
his debut and strikes out the first five BATTERS in

(18:57):
his mlb debut before he gave, up a single then
go on to strike out, The sixth batter, so two. Innings,
six strikeouts shannon it hadn't been done. In a while
maybe in the modern, era Of baseball the reds might
have a good one on Their hands In, CHASE burn.

Speaker 3 (19:10):

grandkids about, if, you're him right you. Get, the star

YEAH so.

Speaker 3 (19:23):
Yeah i think that the future is bright. For that,
kid you know he still didn't. GET the, win i know,
the red one but he didn't. Get the win if
he had, some run support maybe he could have. Gotten
that win he got the. No decision Instead but the
reds pull it out and what they go ten how
many interses they?

Speaker 2 (19:39):
END up going.

Speaker 1 (19:42):
I know that they're sitting in a very Competitive ven in.
Central right now but for that game they did Win.
Against the yankees and it was in, on, the, eleventh
eleventh eleventh what it Was where the yankee scored one
And then the. Reds have two so Good. On THE
reds but I Mentioned. THE nl central i. Mean, It's, Tight,
cubs Brewers cardinals and reds all separated by just about
four half games in all, above Five hundreds so red's

Then at finway. THAT is crazy.

give that kid a.

Speaker 3 (21:33):
Lot, of, credit well, yeah you know like there's something
to be said about not being intimidated as a rookie
going out there, and playing, against you know the two.
MOST legendary, TEAMS i mean i guess what his next
start Would Be. AT wrigley, filled i mean how do
you that's the only way it could? GET any, better,

first pitches were in, the first anyway he's throwing a hundred.

Speaker 2 (22:02):
Miles per hour you.

Speaker 3 (22:02):
Could imagine the adrenaline if you're, in, oh situation, right
you know, your first start.

Speaker 2 (22:07):
You're out There.

Speaker 1 (22:07):
It's the, yankees oh, yeah for, sure for sure but
maybe that's even more. The normous guys they're throwing one
hundred miles per hour. All the time but it looks
like the red's got to.

Speaker 4 (22:15):
Go.

Speaker 3 (22:15):
To, one sure yeah it used To be if galve
was throwing one hundred, miles an hour he. Was your
CLOSER now. You us news now you get get starters
out there throwing one hundred.

Speaker 1 (22:22):
Miles, an hour yeah they can only go. Six innings
though we'll take a break and be right back HERE On.

Speaker 2 (22:26):
The ksi.

Speaker 1 (22:26):
Apprecia Welcome back it's Billy and the dude every weekday.
At nine am thank you for joining us live or
on podcast eight five nine two eight oho two two
eight seven if you'd like to. Join the show we've
got a couple people. On the phones but before we,
get to that a couple of news. Notes FROM yesterday
the tbt. Bracket Was Revealed the lexington regional will Be

(22:47):
played from july eighteenth to. The Twenty second la familia
is a one seed and they Will take on Stroe's squad,
on july Eighteenth That Is, bowling green alumnis and if
they were to, win that game they would play the
Winner of war READY and then x rated And the
war ready Team Is, the auburn alums so very similar.

(23:08):
TO last year i believe They played the auburn, team
last year but if they were To win, their lexington
regional they would set up a match Up against.

Speaker 2 (23:15):
The louisville team if they were to win.

Speaker 1 (23:16):
Their, Region as well we've got some announcements of New
additions Like Ansley almanor khalil whitney in the past. COUPLE
of weeks i know they're still more, on The, way
but shannon this was a lot of fun last Year
And hopefully sean Woods and twenty beckham and everybody there can.

Speaker 3 (23:30):
HAVE some success I enjoyed the tvt WAY more than
i ever have before. IN the past i don't know
if it was, just, focusing on, like You know this
kentucky team and how much, fun they were and the
fact That. THEY played louisville, i think, that you know
brought a lot of awareness to. It as, WELL but
yeah i know this has been going, on for years but,
for whatever reason last year just seemed to be the

(23:51):
year that kind of. Clicked For me was, KENTUCKY first, Year,
I THINK yeah but i guess that's part. Of it
too but the tournament's been going on though for several
years though, it's, twenty, fourteen right yeah, so You know
but i'm looking forward to it Again and Hopefully kentucky.

Speaker 2 (24:05):
And louisville again i'd like to see. That, that rematch
yeah as.

Speaker 1 (24:08):
Long as we can avoid being sucker punched, IN the
arena i think that that would be a. Fun matchup
AGAIN and so i know some of the guys will
be joining us throughout the. Weeks before then so excited
for THAT and. Another tvt season and also there's been
some news regarding the new Guys with the kentucky. Men's
Basketball team mo diabate being one.

Speaker 2 (24:28):
Of those guys he did.

Speaker 1 (24:29):
An interview yesterday and this Clip Comes from TYLER thompson
on x and it's a little bit of A clip
from mo diabat Here talking. About kentucky's defense it was
their main, weakness Last Year and Mo diabate in alabama
actually keyed in on that at. Times Last. Year versus
kentucky here's some good thoughts from here. From HIM yesterday
and i.

Speaker 6 (24:48):
Think it's probably gonna be one of the Best defensive
teams kentucky scene, In a while like like we got GUYS,
like like jq he hasn't, Even PLAYED yet like i
just just knowing what, he could do and he's not
even to said like. Like that's scary Like Guys like
nei taka exactly. Take PRIVATE defense so i feel like
that's something that the team needs and, stuff LIKE that

(25:10):
and i feel like it's gonna it's gonna be a
real good year. DEFENSIVELY for us i don't think that's
gonna be one of the.

Speaker 2 (25:16):
Liabilities We have.

Speaker 1 (25:19):
So shannon some interesting words their liabilities. That We have
Maybe alabama and mo thought About that in, Kentucky LAST
year but i Think music to kentucky fans ears to
hear that they're going to be a much.

Speaker 2 (25:30):
Better.

Speaker 3 (25:30):
DEFENSIVE team yeah i mean that's the thing last year
that this team that they had had the capability of
putting up one hundred points on. Any given night and
when you have that, offensive fire power you don't necessarily
have to. Be GREAT defensively and i don't think that
they're going to be locking and, Shooting this year but
you tell me that you got this talented of a
roster that can. Actually play defense that tells me they

(25:52):
are going to blow some teams. Out this, Year YOU
know like i remember those Nineties teams that pope played
on and they would just denial eight teams where it
wasn't even. FUN to, watch i think if this, team
is good like a, lockdown defensive team they can score a.

Speaker 2 (26:06):
Lot of points it's gonna be a really Exciting.

Speaker 5 (26:09):
Year.

Speaker 1 (26:09):
FOR kentucky yeah i don't know if it's gonna be
averaging ninety points a game, with this, roster but look
you're not gonna have to score ninety if you're gonna
be able to play. Much better defense so a lot to.
Be excited about moe also said he almost Died during coach.
Pope's conditioning tests the conditioning test they run. Something called
seventeens you run sidelined to sign. Lines seventeen Times pope

(26:30):
gives big sixty six seconds to get it done and guard.
Sixty three seconds, if you fail you have to come
back a week later and. Try it Again the day,
mo did it they did. It four times and you
get a one minute break. Between, each seventeen shannon that
sounds like something that. You, COULD do YES i think
i could do it. AT my AGE i think i could.

(26:50):
Still do It so if i'm gonna wear EyeBlack To,
the remote friday will you run a seventeen in?

Speaker 2 (26:55):
Under sixty seven we should both try. TO do it
i think that. Would be it we should go out.

Speaker 3 (27:00):
Of, basketball court yeah We should get mario to document
it a.

Speaker 2 (27:03):
Little.

Speaker 3 (27:04):
VIDEO content YEAH i think i definitely could have DONE
it when i. Was IN college could i?

Speaker 1 (27:08):
Do?

Speaker 2 (27:08):
IT now YEAH i think i could still.

Speaker 4 (27:10):
Do.

Speaker 1 (27:10):
IT now yeah i mean how much running are? YOU
doing nowadays i know you're bouncing off floors like not a.

Speaker 3 (27:16):
Lot, OF distance well i am doing a lot of
cardio because in these workouts it's, not just weightlifting it's
WHAT they called hit high INTENSITY. Interval training hit so
you're doing a. Lot of cardio see it no, cardio
for me. Just, all weights chance then you, could, Do
IT then oh i. COULD do it i could.

Speaker 1 (27:35):
Do, COULD walk yeah i mean you can could do
it in. The rain too, but you know seventeens for
seventeens with a one minute. BREAK in between i Think
that might that would definitely, test my cardio. There's no
doubt so it sounds LIKE the guys uh want to
have conditioning as a new focus.

Speaker 2 (27:53):
ON the team i would need.

Speaker 3 (27:55):
To see it, Play out too, like you. SAY four
seventeens i need to see exactly, What that means like
what does that?

Speaker 4 (28:00):
To? See?

Speaker 1 (28:00):
Us, seventeen yeah yeah well it's down and back down
and back down and back DOWN and back i guess six.

Speaker 2 (28:06):
Or six seconds so.

Speaker 3 (28:07):
All the way so the ninety, feet four, times four
times and you gotta do it. In, seventeen, seconds, no
no no.

Speaker 1 (28:15):
They're called seventeens you got to do it in sixty
six seconds if you're big in sixty three so you
met each one.

Speaker 2 (28:20):
Within, seventeen, seconds, no no, OKAY all RIGHT i think i. Could,
do it no you'll run sideline to sideline seventeen times is.

Speaker 3 (28:27):
What it, is, but, okay jeez okay that's you put.
IT like that i wasn't quite understanding. The assignment There
at first.

Speaker 1 (28:34):
Trent's trying to put on muscle or he's trying to,
put on weight and then coach is asking him To, run,
seventeen yeah tough light.

Speaker 2 (28:40):
You grab a cookie at each end, of the, baseline
you know. Counter, counter, productive here, coach all? Right who's next?

Speaker 4 (28:46):
On?

Speaker 2 (28:47):
The phone here we got A, couple of Yeah looks like.
Terry's Up, next hey? Terry, what's.

Speaker 5 (28:50):
UP hey guys i wanted to weigh in. AS an
umpire i want to weigh In On the coastal carolina First. Inning,
manager jackson, Yeah so okay so there's a. Couple of
ways by the by the law, OF the land i
guess you really the the umpire probably was in his

(29:11):
his right to do. What he did but THIS is
how i would. HANDLE that SITUATION i would i would. Tell,
THE manager look i know it's. A championship game i
know you. WON every pitch. I got this we're not arguing,
balls AND strikes and i don't want to hear another.
Word about it that usually takes. Care OF it what

(29:32):
i think happened in this particular situation was the first
base umpire in the bottom of the first the guy
was On First, for coastal carolina and the uh the
pitch came in and the. GUY still second i think
the pitch was in and he called, it A strike
and i think the first base, coach said something and the,
empire got him and then he went over to the dougout. And,

(29:56):
said Something Well the coastal carolina manager didn't hear, what
he said so he came, out and said what? Did you,
say he goes. THAT'S your warning i we're Not talking.
About boston strikes and this is What got. The carolina
managery he points. Three fingers up you've. Already, missed three
well that's. Showing him up so when he, showed him up.
He DUMPED me but i think in a, game like that,

(30:20):
as an umpire you got to know the stakes. Of
the game you got to know the emotions of the players,
and the manager and you got to. Have, thicker skin yeah,
you can't dump but you can't dump.

Speaker 3 (30:30):
Him like that you know what if you were the
umpire that tripped and fell and then said he got bumped,
and all that like. HE got, EMBARRASSED i mean i
don't think there was. A bump there it didn't look
like a. Bump to me looked like he just kind.

Speaker 2 (30:42):
Of fell down well, he to.

Speaker 5 (30:44):
Me he's got an integrity issue because HE was just
i agree with a press Commerce Of the coastal carolina
he just got embarrassed because he fell down and he
holds up two fingers like. He buffed me he's going
to be out. For, Both, games yeah Uh that wasn't that.
Wasn't a bump he just tripped over his foot foot.

(31:04):
And sail, down BUT uh, like i said there there
ARE umpires that i like to call it inserting themselves.
INTO the game i think this play umpire inserted himself
into the game and made it a little, Bit about
him and you can't do that when you're on. A big,
stage like yeah.

Speaker 3 (31:23):
Shame for that to happen, in any game but especially
When It's The. College world series thanks, For. The call
terry oh It's too.

Speaker 1 (31:28):
BAD terry's gone i wanted to ask how many times. He's, ejected,
SOMEBODY oh well. I, don't know tomorrow maybe. CALL back
tomorrow i think he's doing, high school games so it
is it may be more parents that you need to
eject from the premises than it is maybe.

Speaker 3 (31:41):
Maybe though maybe, but you know there's, also players that
especially at the, HIGH school level i, think, would oh
yeah you. Have, AN attitude yeah i mean at what
age do you start moulding off? To your parents usually
when you're, in HIGH school SO i can i can
totally see that umpires happened to deal.

Speaker 1 (31:58):
With high schoolers you got a hold line. At that
point you can't be disrespected by. High school kids and
if you've got any, sort Of ego, then i'm, Yeah.
Good thing billy our. Sports isn't enough you'd be tossing,
people out. LEUTS all right i wouldn't care if you had,
enough players, to you know put nine.

Speaker 3 (32:13):
On the, field you know throwing grandma and grandpa out
of there would be like an empty arena match by
the time you were.

Speaker 2 (32:17):
DONE tossing everybody.

Speaker 1 (32:18):
I think it's just the act of tossing THEM is
what i would like. Doing so much that's got to be.
A fun, feeling just see.

Speaker 3 (32:23):
That's the problem people like pointing. To the park give
you just a little, bit of power you'd take it
all the way on the Trusting it's not i'm not enough.
For a reason it'd be ejected people. Left and right
there's no. Doubt about it let's let's keep going. With
the cause chris is.

Speaker 5 (32:37):
On the, Line?

Speaker 2 (32:37):
What's, up, CHRIS.

Speaker 4 (32:39):
Hey guys a quick comment. On the draft we're pulling for.
THE gas tonight i hope they. All Get drafted but
i'm so thankful at the same time that this is
not the focal point of our program anymore grateful for
coach post that the emphasis is back on our season,
and the program and of course the draft's a big.
Part OF that but i just enjoy the focus a
lot more on our season.

Speaker 5 (32:58):
And, THE players yep i.

Speaker 2 (33:00):
Agree with you thanks for. The coming dress.

Speaker 3 (33:02):
Absolutely good call, but you know like it's not like
players Forget how great kentucky has been sending PLAYERS. To
the nba as, WE mentioned yesterday i think a Big
Reason why denzel Aberdeen is at kentucky is because he
has aspirations to PLAY in the nba and he Feels
like At Kentucky, with mark pope he has the better
chance of improving his draft stock than he would if

(33:23):
he Had, stayed at florida which just won. A national
championship so that's that's A big compliment I think To
Kentucky and mark pope for him to transfer when he
could have been a starter for, a championship team.

Speaker 1 (33:33):
Well a lot Of That, was, john calipery right he
was the guy that got YOU. To The nba, but kentucky,
is you know still. That as well Even with, CALI
perry gone i think still people still see.

Speaker 3 (33:43):
That the brand still. Speaks for, itself that's right no
matter who, the coach Is it's. Still KENTUCKY basketball.

Speaker 1 (33:50):
And i think that's why it hurts So much, when cal,
said you know we're just Packing up cali perry you.

Speaker 5 (33:54):
And taking.

Speaker 4 (33:54):
It.

Speaker 2 (33:55):
UH huh yeah i think that rub people.

Speaker 5 (33:57):
The wrong.

Speaker 3 (33:57):
Way, You think look kentucky Basketball existed Before, john cali
perry and It Exists. After john caliperry, he's you know
he's not the be, all END all although i think.

Speaker 2 (34:08):
In his mind he was probably probably thinks he, think he,
invented You know the kentucky basketball. In, his mind well
when you.

Speaker 1 (34:15):
Make somebody A hall of famer while they're still, actively a,
coach you know that is a great way to get
somebody stuck, in, their waist right because if it's worked
for me, in the past it should work.

Speaker 2 (34:23):
For me now and that's not the case a.

Speaker 1 (34:24):
Lot of times one of, those lifetime contracts that's What
You think mark pope could.

Speaker 2 (34:29):
Get, A life. NO i don't i don't Want. TO
pro pope. I don't know i don't think it's good for,
anybody in sports.

Speaker 1 (34:33):
But somebody That Was, a kentucky wildcat, you could argue
would be the person that could be an.

Speaker 2 (34:39):
Into the end here was the, other.

Speaker 3 (34:40):
Thing here something we kind of talked about when We
were at Mike's. Landing On friday mark Pope being a,
kentucky you know wildcat, through and through is not a
guy who is going to leave to GO. TO the
nba i don't think he would, take, a job like,
let's just say let's just. Play it Out theoretically the
Lakers they want mark as. Their, new coach now that, would,

(35:02):
be extreme. Exactly extremely tempting but do you think that
he Would ever leave we said he Would never leave
kentucky to go to another SCHOOL or. An nba team
you think he would Turn down the kentucky job For
like the lakers if that were out theoretically something that
we're offered to him nine times.

Speaker 1 (35:19):
Out, Of ten no but there's a reality where like
he's slipping his, Last few years he's, maybe, there thirteen,
fourteen FIFTEEN years and i mean he realizes as much
as the fan base that this is a ten year
job and would.

Speaker 2 (35:29):
Decide TO leave but i think that, is you know
a lot less likely.

Speaker 3 (35:33):
Than, other scenarios yeah we don't have to worry about
another school taking, them from us.

Speaker 2 (35:37):
That's, For sure yeah, I'M so light i Don't come
in and yeah we have.

Speaker 1 (35:40):
To Renegotiate contracts mark pope's Not going to fayetteville to.

Speaker 2 (35:43):
BE the coach i can. Tell.

Speaker 1 (35:45):
You, that yeah well while we're TALKING, about the nba we'll.
Get this in Yesterday was The Thunder's per Thunder, parade
in oklahoma and talk about the aura off the Charts.
For shay man he got. Off the bus he was
walking Around with the canadian flag. On his pants he
looked good with. The O'Brien trophy so Congrats To The.
Oklahoma city thunder they may have the Worst championship hats I've,

(36:05):
ever seen shannon but still wish him the.

Speaker 2 (36:07):
BEST, of luck yep, happy for him and, like, we
said man he's.

Speaker 1 (36:09):
In.

Speaker 3 (36:10):
Great company uh YOU, know the mvp and we Talked
About with jordan Shack Was It uh Kareem, kareem abdul jabbar, THOSE.

Speaker 2 (36:19):
Scoring title Mvp, REGULAR.

Speaker 1 (36:21):
Season finals mvp it's an incredible season that.

Speaker 2 (36:25):
Cannot be ignored so. Congrats to him we'll.

Speaker 1 (36:28):
Take a break we've got one segment left here on
the show.

Speaker 2 (36:30):
Before the SHOW it's The. Ksr pre, show all.

Speaker 1 (36:32):
Right welcome back it's our final SEGMENT of The. KSR
Pre Show Ksrs, Next, matt drew ryan guys given their,
unpopular opinions today so should be. A fun show five
h two two six five six six five six is,
our text line and, one person says on my high,
school hoops team we would run sixteens. As a, punishment
same concept sideline to sideline sixteen times. In sixty seconds

(36:54):
i'm telling you they, are absolutely brutal much much harder than.
One would think would love to see you guys give.

Speaker 2 (37:01):
It, a go well.

Speaker 3 (37:02):
LET'S do IT i mean i feel like that's something
we could easily go out and try and see if
we can do.

Speaker 1 (37:07):
It, or, not yeah yeah we'll see if we can
Do it this friday or maybe. The next time we
can get on a Basketball court and mario can. Help
us out but to do four in a row with
one minute, break in between that sounds like a special,
kind of torture but only Preserve for the kentucky basketball
team AT this point a five nine two eight zero
two Two eight seven, Before WE go shannon i have

(37:28):
TWO things that I do that i want to ask
you if you think. They, are, weird okay yes. THEY'RE
both weird i can. Already, tell, you well, see let's
go what?

Speaker 2 (37:35):
DO you get i don't watch you judging.

Speaker 1 (37:37):
Me at all, but you know, like we've said my
all my, opinions ARE unpopular so i can't.

Speaker 2 (37:41):
Play that game so tell me if these.

Speaker 5 (37:42):
Things.

Speaker 1 (37:43):
Are WEIRD okay so i find a lot of joy.
In rewatching movies My fiance thinks i'm. A Little crazy
whether i've watched pulp fiction for. The FIFTH time maybe i.
Put ON inception maybe i just Want To watch. Star,
wars again shannon is it weird to rewatch MOVIES or
should i constantly be?

Speaker 3 (37:59):
Watching, NEW things no i don't think it's. Weird At
all but I'LL tell you i don't do it AS
much as. I used, to you know back before, we
had streaming, everything WAS DVDs and i had, a, COLLECTION
of like, i don't know twenty, twenty FIVE DVDs and
i would, just kind, of you know watch them and
go through and, cycle back through and once you get through,
those twenty five you go back and you'd watch another

(38:19):
one that you haven't watched.

Speaker 2 (38:20):
In A while but i.

Speaker 3 (38:21):
Don't really watch a whole lot Of movies that i've
seen as much because there's just so many movies.

Speaker 2 (38:27):
Out there now there's so many things.

Speaker 3 (38:29):
Flighty, streaming MOVIES yeah yesterday i pulled up something on
like the do you know WHAT the two?

Speaker 2 (38:33):
B app is it's like a. Free movie.

Speaker 3 (38:35):
App You know sometimes i'll get on there AND see
if i can find random movies that, usually are terrible,
but you know it's at LEAST it's something i haven't
already seen.

Speaker 2 (38:44):

Speaker 1 (38:56):
You for that the other Thing is that i've gotten
very accustomed to is listen listening to podcasts. On FASTER
speeds so i will set the speed of A podcast
that i'm listening to to, one point five like, One,
Point seven shannon have you ever done that when?

Speaker 3 (39:10):
Listening, TO something no i kind of like hearing things
as they're supposed to. Be LISTENED to but i know
that some, people DO that and i guess you can
get through a lot more podcast if you're listening to
it at one and a half times the speed.

Speaker 2 (39:21):
It, actually is.

Speaker 1 (39:22):
Yeah one point five is, not too bad like two
is a. Little too much it sounds, a little jumbled
the higher pitch voice. And All That but i've i've
gotten very used to, One point five and so after
you get done listening to one point five for an,
hour or so everything's a, little sped up YOU know.
What i mean you've got to slow down a little
bit to try to get back to the normal.

Speaker 2 (39:38):
Way of speaking and.

Speaker 3 (39:39):
Do you feel like that like influences you to speak
faster because you're listening, to a podcast it's one hundred.

Speaker 2 (39:44):
PERCENT going faster i do think that maybe, Not that much,
AND you know i think you.

Speaker 1 (39:49):
Wo ADJUST eventually but i wonder how many people do,
that as well listening on one point, five or two
because probably more than, what you, think YOU think because
i think it's a little bit. Of crazy behavior but at,
THE same time i, COULD.

Speaker 3 (39:59):
Definitely no, i would say out of, those two things.
NOT really weird i thought you were gonna say you know.
Something much upset none of.

Speaker 2 (40:05):
Those, things weird no.

Speaker 3 (40:06):
REWATCHING a movie i don't, think that's weird especially if
it's one. Of your favorites well what if it's like
THE tenth time i have seen like, my favorite movies probably.

Speaker 2 (40:17):
One, hundred times Yeah Over The. THE big, LEBOWSKI i
mean i start getting BURNED into.

Speaker 3 (40:23):
MY tv screen I mean if i weren't doing, Anything right,
now I'VE been if i were, sitting at home there's
A good chance I Might Have the big lebowski.

Speaker 2 (40:28):
On right now so it's like, a comfort thing YOU know,
what i mean like some nostalgia, in a lot or if,
you're falling, ASLEEP you know i like to fall.

Speaker 3 (40:34):
Asleep watching, stuff So yeah maybe i'll put On a
movie i've seen a Hundred Times.
