by Italics Fine Italian Dining in Lexington. Only two more
days before I get to go on vacation. I'm looking
forward or to that. We're on remote tomorrow. We'll tell
you about that later on. At first, I gotta say
good morning to my co host over in Lexida, Kentucky,
Billy our Sports.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
Good morning, Billy, how are you?

Speaker 4 (01:10):
What's up, Shannon? Let's go another Thursday. Happy to be alongside.
I don't know why I have so much energy, but uh.
I waltzed into my city center here in downtown Lexington
and jim shorts and a T shirt and hat, and
I continued the trend of being the most underdressed person
in the building because you know, there's a lot of
lawyers here, a lot of financial advisors. They come in

(01:30):
with their suits and their briefcases. But you know what, Shannon,
this is theater of the mind. I don't need to
be in a time.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
Well here's the thing in these buildings now, there's not
that many people who you interact with.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
I see Tony Vannetti every morning.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
So basically like when I, like this morning, when I
walked out the door, or was about to walk out
the door, I looked at myself. I had a T
shirt and khaki shorts on, and I'm going, look, I
am not a child anymore. I need to dress somewhat
like an adult. So I actually went back inside and
put on a collared shirt. I got my collared Draftking

(02:03):
shirts on shirt on today, and I'm like, well, okay, yeah, true,
you probably shouldn't just be walking into your place of
work with the T shirt and shorts on. But then again,
when I get here, I only see Tony Vannetti. So really,
I dress nice just for Tony Vannetti.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
Every day.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
He's the only person that I see. You know, I
hope Benetti appreciates my collared shirt.

Speaker 4 (02:26):
I hope. So did he have a backwards hat on today,
because that's the kind of style he's bringing to the
table over there?

Speaker 2 (02:32):
No, not today?

Speaker 4 (02:33):
Okay, good.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
You know he's in his mister Rogers phase.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
You know he has like a cardigan on and some
khaki pants and you know that.

Speaker 4 (02:41):
He talking about the news on a forty Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
Hey Pardie, how are you doing? You know he used
to be cool, bad Tony Vinetti. Now he's old man
dorky Venetti.

Speaker 4 (02:49):
I mean, was there a little bit of rock DJ
Shannon that's kind of gone away?

Speaker 2 (02:54):
Absolutely not? No, are you kidding me?

Speaker 4 (02:56):
I'm not losing my Hey, you're telling me booty shaking contest.
Shannon the dude is still here today. You still got
the same.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
Hair picks up your leave. You ever seen the movie
Old School?

Speaker 4 (03:05):
Of course?

Speaker 2 (03:05):
You remember will Farrah boy Blue? Remember Frank the Tank?

Speaker 3 (03:09):
Yeah, hey, Frank the Tank can still come out, just
because you know, if Phoenix Hill Tavern isn't around anymore,
take me to a booty shake of content. I will
see a booty shaking contest right now. I will leave
the show and go do it.

Speaker 4 (03:20):
If there is at least you were wearing clothes during
your fifty mile run. You can't say the same for
Frank the Tank.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
That's right, that's right. So uh yeah, you know the
backwards hat. You brought that up. That was part of
Unpopular Opinion Day, which is always one of my favorite
days on KSR. A lot of strong opinions. One was
a grown man should not wear a backwards hat. I
disagree with that. I think it's okay to wear a
backwards hat every now and then. I've been guilty of it.
You've done it. Matt Jones has done it himself, even

(03:47):
though he seems to be anti backwards hat. I see
him every now and then when he when he lets
loose and has one of those purple or pink dackeries
that he SIPs on every now and then the hat
goes backwards and then it's it's party Matt.

Speaker 5 (04:00):
Oh.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
That must be once in a blue moon, because I
have never seen that party Matt.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
He came out in Milwaukee.

Speaker 4 (04:04):
He did woul whether it be a cowboy hat or
a backwards hat or you know, whatever floats your boat.
But yeah, it seems like the callers get a little
bit of a free pass to give the worst opinion
that they have a lot of times, or in Drew's case,
you just make everybody mad in the state of Yeah.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
So let's review quickly the guys on the show. Drew
was anti ketchup. You know what, I agree with Drew.
I think out of all the takes from the four
of it, well, I'm obviously going to agree with my own,
but from the other three guys, I think I'm on
board with Drew.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
I hate ketchup, don't like.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
It should be banned, They should deport it like they
should You like pizza, like do you like tomatoes on
your burgers?

Speaker 5 (04:44):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (04:44):
Okay, I know, So now you're backing me into a corner.
You are because I will. I will acknowledge that my
hate for Ketchup really has It makes no sense because
you say, do you like pizza?

Speaker 2 (04:55):
Yeah, I had pizza last night, so peace, I like it,
And I.

Speaker 4 (04:58):
Know, yeah, I need to say that you hate.

Speaker 3 (05:00):
I know, and I don't like tomatoes off the vine.
I don't like ketchup, but if you tell me that
you can mix that stuff in there and make like
a Marinara sauce or sauce at a Mexican restaurant, I
love it. So yeah, I'm conflicted a little bit here.
But Ketchup itself, No, don't like it. I think it's trash.
Ryan Lemon thinks TikTok is trash. That was his take

(05:22):
on Unpopular Opinion Day, and then Matt's take was that
the UK pre and post game shows are terrible.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
I don't really disagree with him on that either.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
I think that the vibe is really diluted when you
listen to it, especially off a big win, and it's
just kind of somber and it's like there's no like.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
I think it would be really cool.

Speaker 3 (05:42):
You know, Drew does that rapid reaction thing outside if
there was a way you can just I mean, there
is a way you can just take a mic out
there and just let's go live. Let's talk to the
people after the game, you know, immediately, I think that
would be really cool instead of scores from.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
Around the conference.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
I think that's you know, it's not it doesn't have
the vibe that you want after a big win or
after a game just in general.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
So I agree with them on that one.

Speaker 4 (06:07):
Yeah, I could not believe he said that, considering I mean,
I run those shows. So do you know how many
calls I got yesterday?

Speaker 2 (06:12):
Oh you did?

Speaker 4 (06:14):
Oh yeah? Are you kidding me?

Speaker 2 (06:16):
Oh yeah? Oh wow?

Speaker 3 (06:17):
So you got calls from people who were not happy
with Matt's take on that.

Speaker 4 (06:21):
I mean maybe some were happy and some were not.
I just could not believe that that was the first
thing out of his mouth. An unpopular opinion day. But
you know what, We're going to go back to work.
We'll go back to the drawing board. You know, I
don't have a ton of say in what happens on
that show, but it is it is Billy our Sports
back there running it. So I love those guys. I
could we could see some excitement brought to it a
little bit, but you know, I'm not going to put

(06:42):
them down.

Speaker 3 (06:43):
Okay, look at you. You're a company man. I understand
plead and plead. The fifth I understand you a little bit.
And then mine was that I actually believe that Kentucky
football is going to get six wins this year. And
that may be the most laughable for a lot of you.
I know we've been beating down this football team so much, though,
play along here. As I said yesterday, when as back

(07:05):
as against the wall, I think Mark Stoops is at
his best. You know, like last year, bad season, but
you beat Louisville right. Several years ago there was talk
of maybe Stoops being on the hot seat, and there
was a last second field goal that goes through the
uprights in Kentucky beats I believe it was Mississippi State
that year.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
So I'm just saying, if you play along with me
and you look at.

Speaker 3 (07:24):
The schedule and you start talking it out loud, I
think you could talk yourself into it's not crazy to
think that maybe Kentucky could get to six wins this year. Yes,
it's going to require beating Toledo and the other two
terrible non conference teams.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
That you play.

Speaker 3 (07:39):
It's going to require probably a win over Vanderbilt, who
you've struggled with recently. It's going to require you either
winning at home against Florida or on the road to Louisville.
And probably it went over South Carolina on the road.
And when we know the sandstorm, that's a crazy environment too.
But you know, like I look at a team like Vanderbilt,
I look at a team like North Carolina. Those are

(08:01):
teams in the past that Mark stoops for a while
at least kind of owned. Now things have flipped. But
I'm saying that there is still a plausible chance that
Kentucky could get to six wins this year. And do
you so let me ask you, out of those takes
from everybody on the show yesterday, the unpopular opinions, which

(08:23):
ones do you agree with?

Speaker 2 (08:24):
Which ones do you disagree with?

Speaker 4 (08:27):
Well, you know, I I'll play along. You know, the
continuity with Bush Hampden as the offensive coordinator, you bring
in another experienced quarterback, Maybe the defense can rise to
the occasion and Brad White can find some magic. Again.
The schedule's tough, though you just went through it. I mean,
you're having to beat Vandy who's reinvigorated with Diego Pavia
And like you said, South Carolina, Florida and Louisville seem

(08:49):
to be those games that you want a circle to
try to win. But look, I mean you were a
very close call. It picks six interception away against Georgia
from possibly beating the best team in the country last year.
So I mean, could it happen? That's why you play
the game, You play the sixty minutes because there is
a chance Kentucky can win some games they're not expected
to and get to six wins. Is it likely though? No,

(09:10):
That's why it's an unpopular opinion, Shannon. That's why it
was a good unpopular and also thank you.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
It also shows how far Kentucky football has fallen, because
now people are scoffing at the thought that we could
get to six wins. Before it was okay, I think
this team can get to eight wins. I think this
team can win nine, this team can win ten this year.
Now we're all the way back to I think this
team can get to six.

Speaker 4 (09:31):
Yeah, the problem is the offensive line. Because when you
knew that Kentucky was gonna have a good offensive line,
you could compete to get to ten wins seasons. Now,
if you're not gonna develop guys, if you're not gonna
get top talent out of the portal, it's gonna be
tough keeping your quarterback clean. Quarterback last year quit football.
He got hit so many times, Shannon. So you know
to a degree, that's got to improve. Our O line

(09:51):
just got one hundred thousand dollars Rays. I'm expecting the
best offensive line in college football next season.

Speaker 2 (09:56):
Okay, you got a lot to say about that.

Speaker 4 (09:59):
Ryan's wrong about take talk. I understand, uh that TikTok
is trash. He didn't sound like he spent a lot
of time finding the right algorithm.

Speaker 2 (10:06):
Shannon.

Speaker 4 (10:06):
You know, just give TikTok a little time. It'll it'll
get to know you, and then we'll appoint you in
the right video.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
Just talk out loud. It's listening.

Speaker 4 (10:13):
Yeah, So, I don't know he was on the wrong
side of TikTok. He needs to give it a little
bit to do.

Speaker 3 (10:18):
Is open TikTok and go Darius Rucker, Darius record Darius Rutger,
and then all this Sorry Hooty and the blowfish clips
will be coming up.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
He'll love TikTok.

Speaker 4 (10:24):
He doesn't even have to open his phone, Shan, just
just say Darius Rucker enough. Just start playing it around
the house. I'm sure the algorithm will pick it up. Uh.
And you know I understand Drew's take. I am a
ketchup connoisseur. I'm not gonna die on any hill for it.
But I'm not gonna put it on steak either. There
is a there is a line for me in the ketchup,
but uh, it's it was fun. The callers brought it

(10:45):
as well. Uh do you mind if I share a
couple unpopular opinions? Can I partake on?

Speaker 6 (10:49):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (10:49):
Yeah, I was gonna go to you next. I want
to hear what yours is are?

Speaker 4 (10:53):
Okay, okay, Well I just have like a few short ones,
nothing like major, nothing that's going to break any news here.
I think think Chick fil A has gotten a little overrated, Shannon.
I used to love it would go all the time.
I don't know if it's something that I've done way
too often, but I think the chicken sandwich has gotten
a little too overrated.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
You bite your tongue. I disagree with you on that.
You disagree it goes your Chick fil A endorsement opportunity. Hey,
Chick fil A, if you're listening, Shannon, the dude loves you.
I love the chicken sereal.

Speaker 4 (11:20):
See that you're good at that. You're you're good at
not disparaging companies that could possibly endorse you in the.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
I think that Chick fil A, and I've said this
has the most efficient drive through line that ever existed
in fast food history.

Speaker 2 (11:34):
You go and you look.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
At that line and it's wrapped around the building, and
you're thinking, man, it's gonna take me an hour to
get a chicken sandwich.

Speaker 2 (11:40):
I'm not going to go there. But then you actually go.

Speaker 3 (11:42):
You know, the chicken sandwiches are really good, and those pickles,
and then the Chick.

Speaker 2 (11:46):
Fil a safe and the waffle fries.

Speaker 4 (11:48):
Let's pump the brakes.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
I'm talking.

Speaker 4 (11:52):
And they don't even open on Sunday. I can't even
get a chicken sandwich on the day of the Lord. Shannon.
This is capitalism, this is America.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
Even the Lord needs to take a day off from
chicken sandwiches and waffle friest. But I'm saying the most
efficient drive through line is Chick fil A.

Speaker 2 (12:08):
You go there, you're in, You're out. They say, my pleasure.

Speaker 3 (12:12):
The food's delicious, it's fine.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
I cannot get up.

Speaker 4 (12:18):
I've gotten tired of it. I think there are better
chicken sandwiches out there. If you want to go to
the fast food restaurant just because the line's fast, more
power to you. I'm looking for a little bit better
quality food.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
It's the chicken of heaven.

Speaker 4 (12:29):
While we're talking unpopular opinions, you could say that an
unpopular opinion is KSR is a better show than the
KSR pre show sometimes. You know, I think most people
would disagree. That would be an unpopular opinion.

Speaker 3 (12:41):
Jannon, Well, you said KSR is better than the KSR
pre show. Sometimes I think you meant you meant the
pre shows better than KSR. Sometimes that would be an
that would be a popular opinion. I would say, oh,
popular opinion is that KSR is a better show sometimes
than the KSR pre show. And then finally, I would
also say that summer is the worst month of the year.
I am so tired.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
Summer is not a month of the year. An, yeah,
it's three months.

Speaker 4 (13:08):
Yeah, drop that worst season of the year, shann It
is the worst.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
Billy, what's your favorite moth of summer?

Speaker 4 (13:14):
Summer. No, obviously wrong there, but the worst season. I
think it's completely overrated. Everybody's waiting for summer and the
summer song of the year and the teachers and the
kids to get out.

Speaker 6 (13:25):
Shannon.

Speaker 4 (13:26):
Now that I work a real job and you're working
all year long, summer's just the time to you can't
go outside because it's too hot and you got too
much to do in the in the backyard. So I'm
saying it's not the worst month of the year, it's
the worst season.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
Okay, all right.

Speaker 3 (13:39):
You know, I'm guilty of complaining sometimes about it being
too hot, but you need to, you know, set me
straight next time I'm complaining about it being too hot,
because I was the same person complaining about it being
freezing just a few months ago, So you can, you know.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
And here's the thing.

Speaker 4 (13:52):
And when it's freezing outside, you got basketball, you got
football going on, like it's a better time of the year.

Speaker 3 (13:57):
But it also gets dark at four o'clock in the afternoon.
Now again light ten o'clock.

Speaker 4 (14:02):
I love it, don't care, don't need to go to
the park. I don't have children, so I'm not looking
to go out and do stuff shading, so you know what,
give me winter before summer comes around. We're not talking months,
we're talking seasons. So there you go, three unpopular opinions
for a guy who's all opinions are unpopular.

Speaker 2 (14:20):
This is true.

Speaker 3 (14:21):
We could move you to like where is it in
Alaska where it's like all like it's all darkness.

Speaker 4 (14:27):
Well, there in the summer in Alaska, it's all day
day time, and then in the winter it's all dark.
I think part of this for me comes from being
from Florida, and in Florida, I mean, summer is just
the time you stay inside. Man, you can't even go outside.
It's like a harsh winter down there. Yeah, like a
hot summer. So and it would get real humid down there.
And that's a whole nother scenario. Well, I love golf.

(14:48):
There's some moments in the August, July and August where
you don't dare go outside because that heat is barren
down on you.

Speaker 3 (14:53):
A five nine, two eight oh twenty two eighty seven.
Since the pre show was kind of like also the
post show for KSR like a day later. So if
you have any like holdover popular opinions that did not
make it on KSR yesterday, that you want to share
on the pre show. We'll take those, and of course
we've got to talk about the NBA Draft coming up
and a whole lot more. We'll get to that and

(15:14):
we'll take your calls. Coming up next it is the
KSR pre Show, Welcome back. It is the KSR pre Show.
Adam Sandler. Why am I playing Adam Sandler? Well, breaking news, Billy,
We don't get a whole lot of breaking news during
the KSR pre Show.

Speaker 4 (15:27):
Give it to me.

Speaker 3 (15:28):
So it was just announced Adam Sandler will be coming
in to Lexington on Thursday night, October sixteenth, and we're
gonna have some free tickets to give away, I think
on the pre show at some point, I'm not sure
exactly when, but this was finally announced today, Billy.

Speaker 2 (15:43):
You and I have known about this for like a week.

Speaker 3 (15:45):
We've been treating this announcement like at zero dark thirty
and have to like keep pushing it back and then like, okay,
we're going to announce it now. Now now you can't
do it. No, we're delaying it again. So now it's
finally out there. It's finally been tweeted by Adam Sandler himself,
so that that means we're good to announce it's already.

Speaker 4 (16:02):
Yeah, were gonna do it yesterday. We were getting all
caps texts right as the show started. No, no, it's
been delayed. But this is awesome, man, Adam Sailor, How
could you not love this? You know, I've never you know,
seen a show of Adam Sandler what he's done, but
it's been such an influential figure of my childhood, of
of course. But I guess we'll do that maybe Friday, Shannon,
when we know how many tickets we have to give away,

(16:23):
and maybe we can we can have a little contest.

Speaker 2 (16:25):
What's your favorite Adam Sandler movie?

Speaker 4 (16:27):
Oh, it's it's it's it's no doubt, it's happy gilmore
Man's that's just the golf in me though.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
Ye big Daddy. I'm a big Daddy fan.

Speaker 4 (16:34):
Big Daddy. What a great one. That was another one.
As a kid, I watched a lot. You know, I
kind of missed most of the SNL stuff with him
being born in ninety five. But man, there's a lot
of bad Adam Sandler movies out there too.

Speaker 3 (16:45):
Oh yeah, there are there are some really bad don't
miss with the Zohan.

Speaker 4 (16:51):
Jack and Jill where he plays like the female and
the male lead role. I did like Click, though I
think some people didn't like that movie. That was when
I liked anyway.

Speaker 7 (17:01):
I like it.

Speaker 3 (17:03):
I think I'm a fan of Adam Sandler's stand up
more so than I am, and maybe even his music
more so than I am.

Speaker 2 (17:09):
The movies.

Speaker 4 (17:10):
Yeah, The Longest Yard was good back in the day,
even though that was a remake. Yeah, but like grown ups.

Speaker 3 (17:16):
Yeah, I don't know anyway, Yeah, for have free tickets,
I believe tomorrow or maybe next week when I'm out
uh Billy NBA Draft. Before we get to the phone's
NBA draft, of course, we're going to talk about that.
I see it every year and I always think it's
such a cool moment to see these players reactions when
they hear their name called. Look, I'm not a fan
of Walter Clayton Junior, wasn't you know a fan of
his at Florida. But when you saw his name being

(17:37):
called last night, you see the tears rolling rolling down
his face.

Speaker 2 (17:40):
It's such a cool moment for him.

Speaker 3 (17:41):
I can't help but to be happy for guys like
that who are realizing their NBA dream.

Speaker 4 (17:47):
As you're center for the tears last night, Yeah, tell
you a few of them.

Speaker 3 (17:50):
Yeah, you know, I feel like there was a lot
of crying last night, more crying than I can remember.

Speaker 2 (17:55):
Though.

Speaker 3 (17:56):
They're like there's crying like Walter Clayton Junior, and then
there's crying like Danny Wolfe's brother. You look like he
had just seen his dog get run over by a car.

Speaker 2 (18:07):
I mean, he was like it.

Speaker 3 (18:10):
Was just like bawling, like ugly crying, and he was
crying more than you know. At one point, they pan
over and I think that, you know, we're to like
pick twenty seven, and Danny Wolfe's sitting there and he's
he looks like the saddest person on earth because his
name hasn't been called. You know, there's there's tears of
joy and then there's tears of sadness. Danny Wolfe was
sitting there looking just absolutely miserable, and then his name

(18:32):
gets picked and he goes up there and his brother
is crying, I mean, harder than it than Danny wolf
himself was.

Speaker 4 (18:39):
So Yeah, you know, we've talked about that. It's these
nights are a culmination, a realization of dreams coming true,
and there's nothing better than your family being around for
those moments and some of the embraces that you see
on TV, it is it is a special moment. Then
there's the opposite, Like we talked about Ace Bailey from Rutgers,
who was actually six seven and a half yesterday instead

(18:59):
of six. He was trying to tell the teams which
teams he wanted to go to. He had some preferred
landing spots, so much so that he was trying to
avoid being drafted by the Hornets and Jazz. Declined to
work out for those teams, ended up getting drafted by
the Jazz. If Danny Ainge said forget that, I don't
care if you work out for us or not. I'm

(19:20):
picking you. Wow, So the story of Ace Bailey continues.
He wasn't shedding any tears.

Speaker 3 (19:25):
You're enabling that behavior, though, when you say that, like, oh,
I don't care if you work out for us or not,
We're gonna pick you.

Speaker 2 (19:32):
I think that's kind of poor fold.

Speaker 4 (19:33):
Well, you can't let them have the power to dictate
those type of things. You can't just not show up
for a workout because you don't like that franchise. Well,
John Elway, Eli Manning bs Man, I mean I could
go on a rant on.

Speaker 3 (19:45):
That, right, But I mean, isn't that what Danny Angel
essentially said, like we don't care if you can work
out for us or not.

Speaker 2 (19:49):
We're gonna pick you anyway.

Speaker 3 (19:50):
Yeah, Like you're enabling more players to do that type
of thing, you know, for me, and maybe that would
work against me. But I would say, just my own stubbornness,
if you're too good to come work out for me,
then I don't want to pick you.

Speaker 4 (20:03):
See, That's what I would feel.

Speaker 3 (20:04):
I mean, I would to me that those like disrespect though,
when you say I'm not gonna go work out for
this team, Okay, well then we're not gonna pick you.

Speaker 2 (20:14):
Go somewhere else.

Speaker 4 (20:16):
Yeah, I mean that that'd be the sentiment I would have,
but obviously not the one that the Jazz had. And
unfortunately no Kentucky players in the first round.

Speaker 3 (20:23):
No, no, But I think that we'll hear at least
Kobe Brea. I think of Mari maybe in the second
late second round later tonight. Jackson Robinson, any hope for him?
Is there still a chance you think that he get
that we get all three in the second round?

Speaker 4 (20:38):
You know, I'm not sure how much has he progressed.
How has he looked at workouts since his injury? You know,
Amari Man talk about progression. He got so much better
as the year went on, right, I mean, he really
picked up Mark Pope's system. And maybe that's what NBA
evaluators are seeing, is that he can he can play
in the NBA and be a passing big. But you know,
I guess we'll find out more tonight. It doesn't seem
to feel like the NBA Draft needs to be two nights.

Speaker 8 (20:59):
Tho.

Speaker 4 (20:59):
We could knocked this out in one.

Speaker 3 (21:01):
If you started earlier, I guess, or unless you want
to go up till like two o'clock in the morning
with it. First time no Kentucky player picked in the
first round, Tom Leach says, since two thousand and nine.
I thought it was two thousand and five. But you
know what, I'm going to say that Tom Leach knows
a lot more about Kentucky basketball history than I do,
so I'm going to default to say in two thousand
and nine was the last time we didn't have a
first round pick for Kentucky, So that streaks over.

Speaker 4 (21:25):
Yeah, and in no Kentucky players but Colin Cowherd getting
drafted last night, a big moment for him. Congratulations.

Speaker 3 (21:31):
There's also you didn't get that, Yeah, I got you,
I got you. I was I was just ignoring it.

Speaker 2 (21:38):
There.

Speaker 3 (21:38):
There's always some fashion statements, Billy that are that are
being made at the NBA Draft, for better or worse.
You had Carter Bryant who was wearing a suit with
no shirt underneath. It looked like he was wearing a
suit jacket made for a woman. It had big buttons
that had a little leaf butt like pen there on
the on the jacket.

Speaker 2 (21:56):
Yeh, it was this, This was this was Carter Bryant.

Speaker 4 (21:59):
Okay, yeah, I look them up.

Speaker 3 (22:01):
And then you had Ace Bailey who was wearing something
similar to what I would wear at OVW. He had
red tights, looked like tall wrestling boots, a jacket. I
mean that was quite a look for Ace Bailey. He
was going for there. Did you see any of these
guys suits?

Speaker 4 (22:16):
I saw Ace Bailey because I saw the boots and
I thought, my god, what would have to be happening
for me to wear those boots? And outside, I guess
like a tropical storm, Shannon. There, I'm trying to get
through puddles, not wearing boots like that. I'm also not
getting drafted in the NBA. I did not see the
first guy that you were talking about, Carter Bryant. My
man decided not to wear an undershirt. Yeah, and he

(22:36):
just went with the blazer. It was kind of like,
you know, like the Rock. I could see the Rock
wearing something like that.

Speaker 9 (22:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (22:43):
I feel like there was some wrestling personality in the
way that some of these guys decided to rock the suits.
But we'll talk more about the NBA draft and take
your calls coming up next five nine, two eighth twenty
two eighty seven. Plus, I got a really funny baseball
story from way back in the day that I want
to share with you too.

Speaker 4 (22:58):

You can text us at five O two two six
five six six five six, where one person says, I
wish Ryan Lemon was my dad. That's all they said.
I don't know if that's their unpopular opinion or if
they do really feel that. And then also one person said,
as an unpopular opinion day that UK shouldn't be in
the SEC Geographically no, I think Kentucky would dominate the

(24:16):
ACC or be more relevant in another conference. The SEC
is so stacked it's hard to be relevant, especially when
it comes to football. Do you agree with.

Speaker 2 (24:24):
That in football?

Speaker 3 (24:25):
Maybe, but you're saying you would rather just run from
the SEC instead of trying to build your program up
to where you can compete with an Alabama Roy Georgia.

Speaker 4 (24:37):
I think you want to play the best of the best, right,
You want to be in the best conference possible. Now,
is it tough to get to six wins?

Speaker 5 (24:44):
It is?

Speaker 4 (24:45):
But you know what, those television dollars still come in regardless, right, So,
like those payouts will come, and you don't want to
be in the ACC that's stuck in a TV contract
for another until twenty thirty.

Speaker 2 (24:55):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (24:56):
So I mean, if you look at it just solely
in football, it's to compete. But you know, Kentucky runs
the conference in basketball, I mean, look at some of
the other things. In baseball, it's a really good conference
and they're starting to compete in that as well.

Speaker 5 (25:08):
Well.

Speaker 3 (25:09):
We'll say Kentucky has historically run the SCA not not
really as of late though, you know, like it's been
a while since we've had a SEC tournament championship. You know,
been a while since we've won the regular title.

Speaker 4 (25:24):
Ten fifteen years. You could make an argument that Caliperi's
his back half. He definitely dropped off and there hasn't
been SEC conference or regular season titles. Yes, but generally
in the history of basketball, there really isn't a team
in the conference that compares right, So that's tough. I
would hate to run away, especially after you've been in

(25:46):
the SEC for that long as well. But probably some
truth that you would have a much better winning percentage
if you were in the ACC.

Speaker 3 (25:51):
Oh, of course you would, but that that's why that
was an unpopular opinion. Yeah, if we agree with it
would be popular. Speaking of Kentucky football, you know, it's
been a long time since Kentucky football is consistently and
successfully recruited the state of Texas, Billy, but now they
just picked up another commitment yesterday from Texas. That's now three.
They got Ben Duncan. He has a three star defensive end.

(26:13):
Third guy that they picked up along with David McCrae
and Isaiah McMillan. So maybe Texas is becoming the new
Ohio for territory football recruiting. You think maybe that they
can dig into Texas and maybe grab some of those
players down there.

Speaker 4 (26:27):
Sure, why not? I mean, if you're not going to
be going to Ohio, I think Texas is another hotbed
for talent. Everything's bigger in Texas, right, Shannon.

Speaker 2 (26:35):
So maybe there's a.

Speaker 4 (26:36):
Defensive lineman like this guy. It's just it's hard to evaluate,
right because you don't know if they're going to be
playing for Kentucky. They may transfer even after next season
if there's a coaching change. But if Shannon the Dude
has his way, they'll go six and six. Oops, we'll
be back for twenty twenty six, and we may see
some of these guys in the Blue and White have
some production. But freshmen don't play a lot nowadays, I

(26:56):
don't think so unless you have some stability. It's it's
tough to really evaluate each recruiting win nowadays. Would you
agree with that?

Speaker 3 (27:04):
Yeah, yeah it is, Yeah, it's in your rya. A
lot of freshmen aren't going to be playing. There's very
few true freshmen that get out there and get significant
playing time. But yeah, you know, I think that it's
also important to establish that recruiting is not going to
just fall off the table because Vince Mero went to Louisville.

Speaker 4 (27:20):
You know, yeah, I think you needed to have some
signings this month to show that Vince Marrow isn't the
only one recruiting out there. They also got a guy,
Dallas Dickerson, who I've heard a lot about is the
wide receivers. Coach really liked him. He's a pretty fast guy,
So another weapon for this team.

Speaker 3 (27:35):
All right, Hey, if I'm nine two eight twenty two
eighty seven, let's go to Peggy.

Speaker 2 (27:38):
Hey, Peggy, Hey, good morning, good morning.

Speaker 6 (27:44):
I have an unpopular thing that I think should happen.

Speaker 7 (27:51):
Oh excuse me.

Speaker 6 (27:53):
I think all those season ticket holders that are on
the sideline that don't stand up, don't cheer, and all
that kind of stuff should be moved to an end
zone and put either the students there or put people
in that will stand up and cheer, because on TV

(28:14):
it looks bad when they're sitting there and doing their
little golf claps and they don't get into the game.

Speaker 3 (28:23):
Peggy, I'm going to tell you something. I don't think
that's an unpopular opinion. I think your opinion is a
popular opinion. It would be like an it would be
unpopular for the donors who don't want to give up
there would never want to give up their seats, and
I doubt that would ever happen because of again money
and all the money they donate.

Speaker 2 (28:38):
But yeah, I think that's a popular opinion.

Speaker 3 (28:41):
I kind of mentioned that last week when we were
doing our show down in uh Del Hollow Lake, and
you know, I said that would be my one change.
If I were Mitch Barnhardt and I can wave a
magic wand and make one change, that would be the
change that I would make. So Peggy, I appreciate the call,
but I don't think that was really an unpopular opinion.
I think most people would like to have that. It

(29:01):
would make it a better atmosphere at Rupp Arena.

Speaker 4 (29:04):
It would, but also unlikely. I would say, oh yeah.

Speaker 3 (29:07):
It is unlikely, Like I give you that, but I'm
just saying, like, if if it could be done, like
if there were no caveats, if there were no complaints,
they said, you have, you know, free range to do
whatever you want, there's no pushback from anybody, do whatever
you want, that would be what I would pick.

Speaker 2 (29:25):
I think, you know, I.

Speaker 3 (29:27):
Think the atmosphere was better last year, but I think
a lot of that's because you got a brand new coach.
There's a lot of like renewed excitement with the fan base.
Sure with last year, but I think you know in
the last Calipio years that the a lot of times
the atmosphere at Rupper Arena was very, very sterile.

Speaker 4 (29:44):
It was. But another opinion that maybe on the same
level of unrealisticness, is that I would love to see
a student only game at Memorial, like only students could
go and talk. You know, there's a lot of I guess,
I guess red tape or legit six when it comes
to the amount of games you have to play at
Ropp Arena. That's why we see these multi team events

(30:04):
as well. So I don't know if it would ever happen,
but what a cool opportunity would be for the men's
team to play Immemorial again, but then make it a
student only thing.

Speaker 3 (30:12):
I think John Short like that, wouldn't you, John? You
have you something that would be something that would be awesome.

Speaker 7 (30:21):
Yeah, and I know that I know that we're raising
for well season. Here's my fuck, I still believe what
I'm all ecc in the Tusta playoffs. I know you're
talking Georgia, Alabama, Alvin, s Missi, Stan, Arkansas.

Speaker 3 (30:38):
You think every SEC schools should be in the playoffs.

Speaker 7 (30:43):
Yeah, twelve out of sixteen. Yeah, leaving it, You'll leave
in Oklahoma and leaving him.

Speaker 3 (30:47):
Leaving out Oklahoma because they're really not apart. They haven't
got through the initiation phase.

Speaker 2 (30:52):
Conference. That's right. But he's got Texas keep them out too.

Speaker 7 (30:56):
Yes, when you read the original gate back to the
original Southwest of Fact, Original Killers, the original Big Ten,
the original Pack ten, Original, I have a value copperence.
That's what we need to have back.

Speaker 2 (31:07):
Yeah. I don't think it's going backwards.

Speaker 3 (31:09):
It's never We're not going back in time unfortunately, though, John,
you know.

Speaker 4 (31:12):
Some things that Annie's not coming back.

Speaker 3 (31:14):
Some things were better back then, but there's also things
that are better now.

Speaker 7 (31:20):
Yeah, and I know it. And it took up at
two favorite shows on that still listen to you.

Speaker 2 (31:26):
What what are your two favorite shows?

Speaker 7 (31:29):
It's one and and and Tiffy Kuon and The Coooner Report.

Speaker 3 (31:34):
No, I got to get you stop listening to that
other show, John, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (31:38):
Four years in the pre show he's been listening to.
I know the background.

Speaker 7 (31:40):
Yeah, that's what the the cuon for is on six
Ames of Tampions on four hours.

Speaker 3 (31:45):
So is it is it that we don't talk enough
politics on the ks R pre show? Is that why
you got to have like you got to get your
dose of politics and sports at the same time. Yep, Okay,
Well you know what, maybe Billy, if we started talking
more politic on the pre show, we could get John
Schwartz undivided attention.

Speaker 2 (32:02):
John, always good to hear from you. Thank you for
the call.

Speaker 4 (32:04):
Yeah, and piss off the rest of the stane Well.

Speaker 3 (32:06):
President said a very naughty word yesterday, one that we
can't sit here on the radio without getting fined or
probably fired if we said that.

Speaker 2 (32:13):
Let's go to Lance. What's up Lance?

Speaker 5 (32:16):
Hey, Shannon, it's an unpopular opinion. It'll probably be more
up your alley than Billy. But I still to this
day do not believe Roman Reigns had cancer.

Speaker 3 (32:28):
Because that's not an unpopular opinion, that's a conspiracy theory.

Speaker 5 (32:34):
Well, if you think about it, he was the champion
and he wasn't He was just getting go away heat
and nobody cared. Magically, he has cancer just in time
to go film a movie with the Rock and then
he comes back bigger and in better shape a year
later after cancer treatment. And for anybody saying that Vincent
Man wouldn't fake that he had animal fake suicide off

(32:55):
the top of the Titan drawing in ninety five, So
I don't think anything's above him making.

Speaker 3 (33:00):
That they're worse of yeah, I mean, they faked heart attacks.
You know, there's been like all kinds of crazy storylines
in wrestling. I think the difference is, though that didn't
happen in nineteen ninety five. That happened just what seven
eight years ago?

Speaker 4 (33:15):
Twenty fourteen? It looks like it has it been that long?

Speaker 2 (33:17):
Okay, what's been eleven years?

Speaker 3 (33:18):
My point, though, I think like the climate has changed
quite a bit.

Speaker 4 (33:22):
I don't think that twenty eighteen. I'm sorry he announced
a twenty eight.

Speaker 2 (33:24):
Okay, that sounds more like it. I didn't think it's
been that long.

Speaker 3 (33:26):
But yeah, even I don't think the ww would fake
one of their guys saying that he had cancer just
for a story because there was no payoff on it, really,
you know what I mean, Like, if you're doing a storyline,
there's got to be a payoff. There was no payoff
to that.

Speaker 5 (33:40):
I don't know though, because when he came back, that's
when the Tribal Chief persona started and he became one
of the biggest names in the history of wrestling over
that title reign. So I mean, it's I love Roman,
I love WWE, I love you know, I love wrestling,
and I'm fine with a storyline. But it was just
one of those. Based on the timing and everything else
going on life, it seems a little too coincidental.

Speaker 3 (34:03):
Well yeah, all right, well, Lance, you're on an island
on that one. I mean, you know, there may be
some other people on Reddit that you can find.

Speaker 4 (34:10):
Oh, you'll find anybody to have an opinion to agree
with you on ready, but leukemia seems like a stretch.

Speaker 3 (34:17):
Yeah, I'm not joking about that, and I don't even
think the w W would. Let's go to Pat, Hey.

Speaker 10 (34:22):
Pat, Hey, what's going on?

Speaker 5 (34:25):
Hey?

Speaker 7 (34:25):
Hey?

Speaker 10 (34:26):
The dumbest opinion of all time is Billy saying, first
of all, just by the fact of saying summer is
a month, you shouldn't have opinion at all. Summer is
the best time of the year. You have pools, you
have beaches, you have girls in bikinis. I don't know
what you could ask for more and the golf courses.
I played eighteen olds yesterday, went to the beach and

(34:48):
then hang out of a pool all day. I don't
know what day could get better. Billy and the Wolf
is like Billy the Wolf is like Billy. Our wives
great to play golf in this weather because nobody wants
to go out when hot. You can play real fast,
be at the beach and go to the pool all
day long and barbecue at night. If that's not perfect,
I don't know what is.

Speaker 2 (35:08):
Billy. I think a point. He's got a little bit
of a point.

Speaker 4 (35:11):
Well, he's got a point on the month thing. Yeah,
I did say month instead of seasons.

Speaker 3 (35:15):
Okay, you made a past that point.

Speaker 4 (35:18):
You can also realize you can go to the beach
in the fall in the spring too. Okay, that doesn't
limit you. You don't have to go into the beach
when it's one hundred and ten degrees outside. I mean
you're Actually it's the worst time to go to the
beach in the summer because it's hot as hell. Going
on the spring or the fall spring break that happens,
everybody goes to the beach in the spring because it's
actual better weather to enjoy outside instead of one hundred
and five degree heat. Teacher on though, Shannon, I'm not

(35:40):
saying you can't be a fan of summer. Hell, I'm
grilling every day out in the gas grill in the backyard.
You don't do that in the winter. The heck I
got sports on in the winter. I got nothing but
baseball to watch for the next three months.

Speaker 3 (35:51):
Would you hold it against me if I made Pat
the caller of the day, the whiskey thief call of
the day.

Speaker 4 (35:56):
Listen, you don't listen to me, neither does my fiance,
So you just do whatever you want.

Speaker 3 (35:59):
Well, make them the whiskey call the day, Whiskey thief
dot com. Go by and you can still a taste
of unfiltered whiskey straight from the barrel. Whiskey thief. All right,
let's we need to take a break. We got a
couple more callers we'll get to you. Just hang tight
with us. We'll take a break. We'll come right back
and still got a lot more to get to, but
not much time to do it, so we'll do what
we can. Come it up next year. On the Ksrpre Show.
Final segment of the KSR pre Show, before we go

(36:22):
back to the phones, Billy, I just saw this. A
Reds player has been placed on the injury list for
hand foot and mouth disease. Talk about an injury that
I did not expect somebody to be out because of?

Speaker 2 (36:36):
What is this?

Speaker 3 (36:36):
The Oregon Trail, La day La cru is going to
go down with dysentery and a scarlet fever. Next, I mean,
have you ever heard of a player being on the
injured reserve list because of hand foot and mouth?

Speaker 2 (36:48):
What even is?

Speaker 9 (36:48):
That?

Speaker 2 (36:49):
Sounds like something you get from a cow.

Speaker 4 (36:51):
I know it's pretty common in children, but I have
not heard of a professional athlete having it, and I'm
not really even sure what it is. Shannon, as we
can continue the trend of talking about topics we have
no idea anything about. But then I just saw that.

Speaker 2 (37:04):
I'm going like, what, you know, how bizarre?

Speaker 3 (37:07):
You know, you see one guy string calf muscle, one
guy wrote rotator cuff injury, you know, plant age planter
fascy eyed es.

Speaker 2 (37:15):
Then you see hand foot and mouth disease.

Speaker 4 (37:17):
What that's a contagious viral infection common in young children
mainly five years old and yonder Uh. You also see
it a lot in daycares Shannon. They don't tell you
about that either. You're paying thousands of dollars drop a
kid off, then they come back with a little hand,
foot in mouth disease.

Speaker 2 (37:31):
Then they give it to you too.

Speaker 4 (37:33):
Oh oh yeah, I'm sure. But you know kids are
touching everything and then sticking their hands in their mouth,
so you got to think they're gonna come home with something.

Speaker 2 (37:41):
All right, let's go through some calls. We got Bob
up next. What's up?

Speaker 4 (37:43):
Bob's Bob?

Speaker 9 (37:46):
Hey, Hey, dude, he I think I'm the only fan
in Kentucky that agrees with you on the sixth win
total on the UK football this year. Matter of fact,
I'm going out on a limb and I think they're
going to win seven. Bob and Billy are.

Speaker 5 (38:03):
Yeah, you can go to.

Speaker 9 (38:04):
The beach in March whenever spring break is, but you
have to go pretty far south. You can't enjoy the
beach up and down the coast like you can in
the summertime. So that's all I've got.

Speaker 3 (38:14):
Yep, Bob out all right, Bob, thank you. Really, the
fall is the best time to go to the beach.
I don't think anybody. Well, if people realize that, they
probably can't go because they've got kids. Kids are back
in school. That's the best time to go because less crowds.
Weather's still warm, but all the kids and families are
back to work and back to school.

Speaker 4 (38:34):
Football's back on, all the TV shows are starting again.
It's a better time of year. But enjoy your reruns
in the summer. But the sun's out until nine pm.

Speaker 2 (38:43):
Brian's up next.

Speaker 11 (38:44):
Hey Brian, Hey Shannon, Billy?

Speaker 7 (38:47):
What's up?

Speaker 2 (38:47):
Guys am?

Speaker 11 (38:48):
I'm going to echo the unpopular opinion, Kentucky to the ACC.
But how about this? How about we add Tennessee to
the package and then we keep.

Speaker 8 (38:57):
Our rival.

Speaker 11 (39:00):
Of that combo.

Speaker 3 (39:01):
So you're you're saying it like you would like to
see Kentucky go to the ACC and bring Tennessee.

Speaker 7 (39:07):
Right.

Speaker 11 (39:07):
I think we would be much more competitive in football
and basketball could be amazing.

Speaker 2 (39:12):
Mmm. What do you think about that? Billy?

Speaker 4 (39:15):
I mean, I'd hate to see Kentucky leave the SEC.
But then you're telling me when we leave, we got
to take Tennessee with us.

Speaker 2 (39:21):
I don't. I don't think we take Tennessee.

Speaker 4 (39:23):
I don't want the stench of Tennessee in the new
conference that Kentucky's in so even though we're rivals, I'd
feel like we're getting away with them, away from them
a little bit.

Speaker 8 (39:34):
Okay, I'll take it.

Speaker 11 (39:34):
I just want to sweepen the pot a little bit, all.

Speaker 2 (39:37):
Right, Brian, appreciate it. Thank you for the call.

Speaker 4 (39:39):
All right?

Speaker 3 (39:39):
Yeah, you know, I like Kentucky and the SEC. Maybe
it's just because that's what I've always known it as.
I don't think Kentucky ever would leave the SEC.

Speaker 4 (39:49):
Would you rather be in Conference Purgatory like Western Kentucky
right now? I mean we're in Conference USA. Nobody wants US.
I think we'd rather go to the Sun Belt. It's awful. Yeah,
you'd rather be in a good comp in play the
best of the best, even if it means two extra
losses each year.

Speaker 3 (40:04):
Yeah, we're talking about you know, Tennessee threatening to have
their own rules basically and having to.

Speaker 2 (40:10):
Leave the conference. Will go on leave. See how that
works for you. Uh, let's go to Mark. What's up? Mark?

Speaker 7 (40:15):
Hey?

Speaker 9 (40:15):
Mark Moran?

Speaker 2 (40:17):
Gentlemen Moran?

Speaker 8 (40:18):
Uh, sorry I got on late. If I missed you
all talking about it, or you did talk about it. Uh,
football talking about tailgating and now they've said it where
you can't set up until the ninth of August. M
I just you're pushing the fans away even farther and
making it more difficult.

Speaker 3 (40:41):
Yeah, Markie, I think your phone connections breaking up. But
I really like that they have made the tail getting
experience somehow worse than wonder it already is. You know,
you look at the tail getting experience. For instance, let's
look at tennessee what they have built up and what
all they have surrounding the stadium down there. You know,
it's a really cool Not that I've tailgated there, but

(41:02):
I've seen it. You can look at it and see, Okay,
that looks like a much better tailgating experience than what
we have at Kentucky. They've got to fix that somehow, man,
because so much of going to a football game involves
the tailgating before it, right even afterwards. And you know,
football is more than just the game itself. It's an event,
and the tailgating is important to fans.

Speaker 4 (41:24):
It is in. Tailgating is a community. I cannot tell
you how many times that I've had in college just
going around from tail date to tailgate as a kid,
going to Tampa Bay Bucks games and going to the
tailgates and have them having things to do. The passion
that oozes from those fans are your best fans. So
continuing to take things away or make things more expensive
for your most loyal fans, I think shows the disconnect

(41:47):
that we've been talking about.

Speaker 3 (41:48):
Else, I'll have to say my old school baseball funny
story for tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (41:52):
And we didn't even get to talk about bands and
how long they're supposed to play on stage.

Speaker 2 (41:55):
Shannon, Well, save it for tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (41:57):

(42:20):
