Speaker 2 (00:38):
I am in Louisville being joined by Billy.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
He is over in Lexington and it's our boy Ryan
Lemon's birthday today.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
How about that?

Speaker 1 (00:46):
Happy birthday Ryan. He's looking good for sixty eight.

Speaker 3 (00:48):
Man.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
He's been through a lot, but sixty eight years old today.
Happy happy birthday to Ryan?

Speaker 4 (00:53):
Is that right? Is sixty eight? What we're going with today?

Speaker 1 (00:55):
I mean, I don't know if it's right or not,
but that's that's what I'm wishing him happy sixty eighth.

Speaker 4 (01:00):
I posted a photo of him in the Tubemosa Billy
shirt this morning. He's always been a big supporter of
the brand. But you posted the one of him at
Drew's wedding this morning. That feels a little bit like
a violation.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
What do you mean a violation?

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Have you seen what he posts when it's my birthday?
A picture of me and my wrestling tights face down
on the mat. He tries to find the worst pictures
possible when he wishes me a birthday. So I thought
I'd just returned the favor. It's a great picture from
Drew's wedding. I think this was about, oh, I want
to say, seven or eight drinks in after he had

(01:33):
already turned over somebody's table, and he had spilled drinks
all over his shirt, and he's got glasses on indoors.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
That's a great picture of Ryan right there.

Speaker 4 (01:43):
Well, you know, I feel like I've retired that Ryan
Lemon a little bit after giving him a job to
do at my wedding, keeping him sober enough to be
able to make it to at least the dance portion
of the wedding. And not having to leave so early.
But we love our guy, Ryan Lemon, one of the
best human beings I've ever met and in you know,
he deserves all the all the happiness in.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
The world today, no doubt about it. So speaking of pictures,
by the way, I don't know if you've got this
email this morning, but Gus are our boss here at
the station is asking for pictures of you and I
to update on the website. I don't know what website
this is. I guess maybe the station's website. I'm assuming, okay,
but look, man, I'm the least photogenic person I've ever seen. Like,

(02:22):
I do not take good I hate pictures of myself.
You know, picture people do selfies all the time. There's
a reason you don't see selfies all over my social
media because I hate selfies.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
I've tried to take them before.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
It takes me thirty seven times to get the right picture.
So I don't really have a good picture to send in.
Do you have a picture that you want to send
in for the update?

Speaker 4 (02:45):
Yeah, profile I'll find one.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
You know.

Speaker 4 (02:47):
Here's the thing, we have a professional photographer in Mario, Maitland.
Now we don't have to take selfies yeah, but selfie Eve,
and he can't make me look good? What do you
mean no, beat yourself up?

Speaker 1 (02:56):
No, No, I know you have that bad hair, Franks.
I look in the mirror and I go, that's a
pretty handsome guy. Then I see the pictures and I go,
who is that?

Speaker 5 (03:06):
Like?

Speaker 1 (03:06):
Why does that look so weird? I think that I
don't know, for some reason, I'm not photogenic. It doesn't
work for me. So I'm struggling to find a picture
to send Gus of you and high. I don't even
I've got one good picture of me. It was from
Louder than Life twenty fourteen, so twelve years ago, and
it's a picture of me just in my natural habitat
with sunglasses on, covering up my face. So that's that's

(03:29):
part of the reason I think I like the picture.
But I've used that picture for everything, and that was
back when we had a different station. It's not even
the same station anymore. So that's the only one that
I've used for my profile picture.

Speaker 4 (03:39):
Well, we won't ask Ryan Lemon for a picture because
it seems like he only has the bad one to
have the good ones. But you're saying, as some people
hate to listen to their own voice. You hate pictures
of yourself as well?

Speaker 2 (03:50):
Mostly yeah.

Speaker 6 (03:51):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
You know, they used to do this thing back in
the day, like when I first started in radio many
many years ago, where they would do basically black and
white glamour shots of all the DJs.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
They would have like a little studio.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
And picture day be like you know, high school picture day,
and everybody dress up, well, your best clothes, we're gonna
do picture day. And they used to have everybody's picture
that was on that station on the wall outside of
the studio, so you had.

Speaker 4 (04:17):
That, Oh I didn't know that they had in the wall.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
Oh yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
And then they would print off a bunch of them
and black and white. You'd have these big, like I
don't want to say posters, but they were pretty good
sized pictures. I don't know, ten x twelve or whatever
picture saize they do, not eight by ten, but bigger
than that. And they would give these black and white
glamour shots to DJs to take out with them on

(04:40):
remotes in case somebody out there wanted an autograph picture.
And I thought it was the most cringe ridiculous thing
I'd ever seen. I've see these guys go out there
with a stock of pictures of themselves with a sharpie,
and not one person ever came up and said, hey,
can I get an autograph picture?

Speaker 4 (04:57):
But come on, you put me in in the radio
business twenty thirty years ago. You don't think I'd have
a stack of glamour shots in me as Absolutely you would.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
Absolutely you would, and your ego would be hurt every
time you would leave the remote, and not one person
would ask for an autograph picture.

Speaker 4 (05:12):
The sixth straight remote, nobody has asked for one of
these glamour shots I do. I have plenty in the trunk.
Anybody wants them. Maybe I grew up in the wrong time, Shannon,
Maybe I should bring back glamor shots. One of my
favorite KSR pre shows ever was when we found Tom
Leach's glamour shots in the old studio. Oh yeah, when
we were still on the old building here in Lexington.

(05:33):
I found several other but it was it was the
one with Tom Leach that I think was the most jarring.
So did you ever have one of those or were
you what new for that glamours?

Speaker 6 (05:41):
No?

Speaker 1 (05:41):
No, no, I was still like the intern or like
the part timer. Back then, they didn't have any interest
in taking my picture. We talked about doing that with KOSR.
Of course, that's another thing that never happened. We've talked
about KOSR. We have talked about doing so many things
over the years, and we've done about fifteen percent of
those things. One of them was actually going to Is

(06:03):
it Sears or j C Penny that still does the
glamour shot out the series even open anymore?

Speaker 2 (06:09):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (06:09):
I don't think. Maybe you go to a mall, you
can go see a Dillard still.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
Yeah, I don't know one of those.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
Maybe it's a jcpenny that still does glamour shots. And
we were talking about getting all of us together and
going and doing a glamour shot at j C Penny
one day.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
Maybe that's what you and I should do.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
Since we didn't do it for KSR, what if next
time go see does lesi didn't have a jcpenny?

Speaker 4 (06:32):
Surely they do, right, Let's see, I'll have to do
some research here because I don't go to the Jcpenny
very often.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
Well, I mean, why would you, like, why would you
seek out a j C. Penny?

Speaker 1 (06:41):
But it's one of those things where if it's there,
you're gonna go maybe see what's what's in there? Yeah,
we got one at Okay, there's one at Saint Matthew's
Maull and Lois. So I'll tell you what. Let's pick
a day we'll do picture day, you and me and
we'll go do some shots for the pre show and
maybe we'll use our favorite one for the new updated picture.

Speaker 4 (07:01):
Well, do we have a turtleneck a matching turtleneck that
we could wear when we do this? I feel like
maybe a mix of the Napoleon Dynamite scene or Step Brothers. Yeah,
making someone of these pictures. I can't get you to
come to Lexington if I offered you a good time.
So that sounds like I'm going to have to drive
to Louisville.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
For this, Shannon, If we're going to do this, well,
uh yeah, I think we could do it, and little
doubt I'm gonna get you up here and like probably not,
but I'm saying maybe, like after a remote one day,
if I have time, we could do that. Now, I've
just been sent by Corey Price the greatest Ryan Lemon
picture of alt. Have you seen this picture?

Speaker 4 (07:34):
He sent it to me as well.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
Okay, so you've got it.

Speaker 4 (07:36):
There's some thick glass. I have gotten this.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
I have got to send this out right now because
this picture I don't know what.

Speaker 4 (07:44):
I don't know how tweeted out.

Speaker 2 (07:45):
Yes, I don't know what year that was, how old
Ryan is in that picture.

Speaker 1 (07:48):
But Corey, that is the best picture of Ryan I've
ever sent, I've ever seen.

Speaker 4 (07:53):
But look at that straight line his bangs make in
that picture. Dude, like that is like that is high
craftmanship there. I mean you would put a bowl on
somebody's head and yeah, I got something.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
Like that, right, I got the curls going on there. Yeah,
all right, that's a good one.

Speaker 1 (08:07):
Eight five nine two, eight oh twenty two eighty seven.
If anybody else has embarrassing pictures of Ryan Lemon, you'd
like to send us at Shannon the Dude and Billy
hard Sports on Twitter is where you can send those.
I'm gonna tag it out there, you go. I just
sent it as a as a reply to the other one. There,
the first picture that I sent out of Ryan. All right,
So here's what we got on the show today. We
got Patton Oswalt tickets to give away.

Speaker 4 (08:29):
Billy Patton Oswell, Patton Oswalt ring the bell.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
He is a comedian. He's also an actor.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
I was trying to figure out, like, where would I
know Patton Oswalt, And I'm going through.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
The IMDb page.

Speaker 1 (08:42):
He's been in like two hundred and fifty different movies,
but the one that I know him from is something
called Big Fan.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
Have you ever seen the movie Big Fan? No, Big Fan,
Big Fan? Big?

Speaker 1 (08:53):
Well, he's like the main character in Big Fan. He's
he's the Big Fan. And I think that if I
remember right, the premise of the movie is he's this
big New York Giants fan and he gets beaten up
by his favorite player. So that's that's so here, Yeah,
here it is. Here's here's the IMDb description. A hardcore

(09:14):
New York Giants fan struggles to deal with the consequences
when he is beaten up by his favorite player. So
you need to go watch that. It's actually a good movie.
For a movie you've never heard of, it's actually good.
So he's going to be coming into We're comedy off Broadway, right.

Speaker 4 (09:28):
I believe, So double check for you.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
Yeah, and we've got those tickets to give away, so
if anybody wants those, at the end of the show,
will let you know how you can win. Free tickets
to see Paton Oswalt so.

Speaker 4 (09:37):
Well perfect to give away Patton Oswalt tickets on a
day in which our guy Ryan Lemon celebrates his birthday
and he was beaten up in a parking lot by
a South Carolina fan.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
That's true, but he wasn't beat up by a player,
at least we don't think it was a player.

Speaker 2 (09:48):
It could have been because.

Speaker 4 (09:50):
Nobody saw it.

Speaker 2 (09:51):
Nobody saw it.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
How do you do a hit and run in a
parking lot, whether it's presumably thousands of people leaving a game,
and nobody saw the guy who did it, How is
that possible.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
I'm still baffled.

Speaker 4 (10:03):
By what modern mysteries of college football tailgates that we
may never know. You know, he's also in a lot
of stuff. He's he voiced Remy and Ratatouey, which is
one of the best Pixar movies.

Speaker 2 (10:13):
I'd say, rat a Tooey. Okay, I'm not familiar.

Speaker 4 (10:15):
Oh you hadn't seen that one. He was in Zoolander, okay,
which is another great movie, a very Harold and Kumar
three D Christmas as well in twenty eleven. Oh, okay,
good forget that one.

Speaker 2 (10:25):
So did you see that one.

Speaker 4 (10:28):
No, no, I didn't didn't see that one, but I
did see Ratatoey. He's also in BoJack, Horseman and a
ton of like modern stuff, so he's definitely getting plenty
of work. So I'm sure, as you know, his comedy
stuff's up to date, dude, So that would be a
fun show.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
All right, there you go.

Speaker 1 (10:41):
So if you want to give those away, yeah, well,
we don't know how we're gonna do it. We'll do
it later on. Just keep just stay tuned. That'll keep
it locked in right here on the pre show. All right,
so we're talking football, Ryan getting popped in the parking
lot of a football game. The preseason Top twenty five
is out and Billy Kentucky, as we already know, has
got a tough schedule. We've beaten this into the ground.

(11:03):
They've got one of the top schedules in all the country.
But they will be playing seven of the top twenty
five teams this year and.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
It's not gonna be easy. We know that.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
But what do you think I mean? If Kentucky gets
to five wins, are we calling that success? I was
asking Ryan this question last week when you were out.
It's five wins a success knowing the schedule on what
you got. You got Texas A and M number eight,
you got number ten, Oklahoma, number eleven, LSU number thirteen, Alabama, which,
by the way, we all know is week number two

(11:34):
of the season. Tennessee at number twenty, Litvell at twenty four,
Missouri at twenty five, Florida by the way, receiving votes,
Vanderbilt receiving votes.

Speaker 2 (11:42):
So if you count those.

Speaker 1 (11:43):
In there, you're now talking about nine of your games,
none of your twelve games against either teams in the
top twenty five or teams that are knocking on the
door of the top twenty five.

Speaker 4 (11:53):
I'm hesitant to say fives of success because it feels
like the benchmark has become six with the Kentucky program
and over the last few decades. But like, let's be honest,
this problem is not going to go away, right, Like
they're always going to be SEC teams in the top
twenty five consistently. It's just now that we've seen with
the rise of nil and transfer portal, you also have

(12:15):
teams like Vanderbilt, who are you know, getting ready to
break the top twenty five soon. So look like you
can't just say every year the schedule's just too tough
for Kentucky to have success to ever reach that six
win mark. But under the first year of will Stein,
I think it kind of depends on which games you
win if you're going to get to that five marker.

Speaker 1 (12:35):
Have you sent in your predictions to Tyler Thompson?

Speaker 4 (12:39):
I have not. I think she sent that last week. Yeah,
which I was trying not to check my email.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
I've got Kentucky at six and six. I'm going to
be optimistic and maybe we'll laugh at that at the
end of the season if we end up winning three
or four games.

Speaker 2 (12:51):
But I think they can do it now.

Speaker 1 (12:55):
If you listen to will Stein talk about how the
scrimmage went over the weekend, you might not fill to
good about it. But isn't that every coach, Billy, Is
there any coach that ever loved their first scrimmage? I
feel like every coach is going to go, oh, we
were terrible. We didn't have any energy. What was the
term he was using, useless juiceless? Juiceless is useless and

(13:16):
juiceful is useful, but whatever that means. I think he
was trying to say that basically, the team came out flat,
didn't look good in scrimmage.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
He said the offense was sloppy.

Speaker 1 (13:28):
I don't know, as Matt was saying yesterday, is that
more of a credit to our defense being good or
is our offense that bad. If you don't have a
good offense, as we know, you're gonna get beaten up
in the SEC. So I'm hoping that it's just all
coach speak. And I don't know that we can really
take anything away from the team's first scrimmage because I said,
I don't think that any coach has ever been happy
with their first scrimmage.

Speaker 4 (13:48):
Well, I'll tell you a coach that thought it was
a great first scrimmage, and that's Jay Bateman, right, the
new defensive coordinator, the one that loves the blitz, but
not too often Shannon, as we learned it's a little
hazardous to your health, like salt. I'm sure he felt
like the team settled in and played great in this scrimmage. Right,
So will Stein an offensive coach, looks like maybe some
a lot of operational things that they're still working on.

(14:11):
You know, penalties can be extremely frustrating getting guys in
the right place. These are all operational things that maybe
that you want to work out the kinks before the
season starts, but you better do it soon, right, I mean,
we're not that far away from the season started. A
couple of weeks of seventeen eighteen days for the first
Kentucky game and sooner for week zero coming up. So
you know, I'm sure a lot of these coaches, you know,

(14:33):
they probably demand perfection in a lot of ways, right,
but you probably don't see a lot of that in
the first couple weeks of training camp. So you're gonna
get a lot of coach speak like this.

Speaker 1 (14:39):
Yeah, he mentioned the weather being hot, but he said,
you know, I'm not going to use that as an
excuse because our first game's coming up in like first
week of September is going to be hot.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
You have to deal with that. You can't use that
as an excuse.

Speaker 1 (14:51):
But you know, overall football seasons almost here, I'm excited
about it. I'm going to be optimistic until I have
a reason not to be. You know, it's like a
a fresh start for the football team, from the coaching
staff to the players and everywhere in between.

Speaker 4 (15:04):
So well, and everybody's undefeated right now, right, so you
can you can try to dream a little bit and
following a season where Indiana just won the national championship,
why not, right, Like, why not can you not get
on a run and do something like that? So, you know,
will Stein brings a lot of juice and juiceless may
be useless in that first training camp scrimmage, but hopefully

(15:25):
that we see this energy from this team as the
season goes on.

Speaker 2 (15:28):
All right, we're bringing the juice coming up next, eight five, nine,
eight seven.

Speaker 4 (15:32):
We got Are you a juice guy? Do you drink?

Speaker 2 (15:36):
You know?

Speaker 1 (15:37):
I will drink juice if I'm at the Continental Breakfast,
if I'm at a hotel. You know, they got like
the apple juice and the orange juice machine. I will
go up and get a little apple juice. I'm an
apple juice guy. Occasionally I'll do orange juice. I don't
really like anything else. I mean grape juice. Do you
drink grape juice?

Speaker 4 (15:54):
No? No, cranberry juice.

Speaker 1 (15:56):
No, that's we're old with my vodka cranberry jue. This
is for old people with bladder problems.

Speaker 4 (16:01):
That's when you have a full thing of champagne and
then a little bit of orange juice added in there.

Speaker 1 (16:05):
That's right, Yeah, yeah, you're I don't know that you
are a juice guy, though, because if you can't handle
more than two mimosas, the juice might be part of
the problem.

Speaker 4 (16:16):
Yeah, the juice will become a coffee guy. I used
to be an orange juice guy in the mornings, but
now now I'm a coffee guy, so I don't find
a ton of time to drink juice. But there is
tons of different juices at the grocery store.

Speaker 1 (16:27):
When you're face down in a toilet after two mimosas,
the juice less is useless at that point. Well, there
didn't merely any juice though, didn't get to absorb it
a champagne. Really, all right, we'll be eight five nine,
eight twenty two eighty sevens the ksrpre Show. All right,
welcome back. This is the ksrpre Show. We're listening to

(16:47):
Pat McAfee's country album, which I was not even aware
was a thing, Billy, but we played some of it
yesterday on the show. I liked that there was a
person who called in that thought that they knew me
so well that I would actually like one of these
songs on the album. I'm sorry, I'm not a Pat
McAfee fan at all. Not a fan of the sports
takes his sports shows. Definitely not a singing. But if

(17:08):
you want to hear some Pat McAfee music, it's now
out there, auto tune and all.

Speaker 4 (17:13):
Well, you're not a country guy either, right, you're no.

Speaker 5 (17:15):
I am?

Speaker 2 (17:16):
I like country music.

Speaker 1 (17:17):
I mean, you give me some of the nineties country
when it was actually good country music. I'm all about it,
but not whatever Pat McAfee is putting out.

Speaker 4 (17:25):
Well, man, you reach a level where you can make
money on anything, right, and I feel like Pat is
at that point where he can release an album.

Speaker 2 (17:32):
And people will buy People will buy it, that's.

Speaker 4 (17:35):
Right, and so that's all that really matters. Right, is
there a market for it, no matter if it's good
or bad.

Speaker 1 (17:38):
I'm sure if I put out an Alice Bluegown album,
he wouldn't.

Speaker 2 (17:41):
Like it, So it's okay.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
I was just reading, where's the stat of the day.
Traffic deaths increase fifteen percent the day a major album
is released. I don't think Pat McAfee is going to
cause any traffic problems.

Speaker 4 (17:53):
But so everybody's I guess, listening to that idea in
their car and they're distracted by it so traffic accidents
go up. That's a little odd.

Speaker 2 (18:01):
I would think that that's the conclusion that you would
draw to it.

Speaker 4 (18:04):
Do people still like play an album from the first
song to the last song or has streaming services just
made people jump around to their favorite playlists and things
like that. Like the other day, like on the road trip,
I would just play an album like straight whole album,
straight through, Yeah, and there was something to it, like
transitions from one song to the next, the vibes. I
feel like that's kind of lost nowadays.

Speaker 1 (18:24):
There's really no point in even putting out an album.
You can just put out one song at a time,
you know, do like a slow drip of Yeah, here's
a song, and then that forces people to listen to
every song. If you put out all of them at once,
people would just kind of skip through and maybe pick
out their favorite one and not listen to the other ones.
But if you give them a song every two or
three weeks, then by the time they're tired of that

(18:45):
when you put out the next one, say, that's smart.
I think that's a better strategy than putting out of
an album with twelve songs on it.

Speaker 4 (18:50):
Because somebody lost I do hate when like a single
has been played for months and then it's included on
the new album. It's like, man, this doesn't feel like
new music. I feel like I've been listening to this
song for a while. But you know, so, are you
a fan of so many in the chamber? Are you
a fan of the McAfee music that you've heard?

Speaker 5 (19:05):
Now?

Speaker 4 (19:05):
That was the first time i'd heard it, honestly, besides
what was played on KSR yesterday. Not my cup of tea.
But you're telling me, if I don't make it big
enough one day, I wouldn't release an album. I can't
rule that out.

Speaker 1 (19:17):
Shannon so well, he had a good producer, like they
did make him sound halfway decent, like whoever I think
he was working with Jelly Rolls producer.

Speaker 2 (19:27):
He did a good job. You could hear the auto
tune in there a little.

Speaker 1 (19:30):
Bit, but oh yeah, he made it sound like a
professional album.

Speaker 4 (19:34):
But put me in the category of a Pat McAfee hater.
But I do like what he does on College Game Day.
He does bring juice to that show. And speaking of that,
one person in the text line says, anyone that's seen
Shannon in the wrestling ring, no he's certainly not on
the juice.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
No, I'm not going to be a forty three year
old man on steroids. That's I've watched too many Dark
Side of the Ring episodes. That's how those guys die. Yeah,
you know, all those guys were routed up and they
were like fling the pressure of having to go out
there and still have the physique of somebody that was
in their twenties when they were in their forties, and
they just dropped out of a heart attack because they're

(20:09):
forty five years old and they're sticking a needle in
their arm to roid up.

Speaker 4 (20:14):
So now, well you use the right word in pressure, right,
the pressure to perform in the ring or whether to
be performing a sport. So yeah, not on the juice there, dude,
with those noodle arms big anyway.

Speaker 2 (20:25):
Still bigger than yours though.

Speaker 5 (20:26):
Here.

Speaker 1 (20:26):
Your Etsy Witch thing was a big, big topic yesterday.
Even on KSR people are as as fascinated about the
Etsy Witch as I am. One person wrote in and said,
had to listen to podcasts yesterday. So Billy R and
his bride's wedding was religious theme with camel and colors
and dresses, et cetera. Yet they hire a witch to
put a curse on mother nature.

Speaker 4 (20:49):
Look, I mean fair question.

Speaker 2 (20:50):
I think that's a fair question.

Speaker 4 (20:52):
Well, look, I didn't know we were doing the witch
thing until it didn't rain that day and she started
taking credit for it. She went on, Etsy spend all
this money, which I say all that money kind of
facetiously because sixteen seems like a bargain.

Speaker 2 (21:05):
Here's where whether or here's what we should do. You
have our contact right the witch. Yeah, I'm sure we do.

Speaker 1 (21:12):
Yeah, Okay, well yeah you should. You should have any
of your receipts. Here's what we're gonna do. Week by week,
We're gonna call the Etsy Witch up and we're gonna
have Etsy Witch put a curse on the team that
Kentucky football is playing. So like, I don't know that
we need the curse necessarily for Youngstown State, although I
don't want to like just you know, pretend that they're

(21:32):
not going to be a challenge at all. But I
feel like Kentucky should win the Youngstown State game. So
I feel like we can save sixteen dollars by not
calling the Etsy Witch on the Youngstown State game.

Speaker 2 (21:41):
But week number two, Alabama.

Speaker 1 (21:44):
If we could get Etsy Witch to put a curse
on Alabama's football team, not that they'll get hurt, but
just so that they won't play well and Kentucky can
win the game. I think that's how we know that
Etsy Witch is for real. Well, Kentucky beats Alabama, we're
giving Etsy Witch all the credit.

Speaker 4 (21:59):
You have to be careful. It's not just sixteen dollars
as the cost. You have to remember what was not
brought up on KSR. Her grandpa went to the hospital
on Friday, and then her sister tore Ligaman on her
knee the second day on Saturday, So it costs two
family members a trip to the hospital to get the
no rain.

Speaker 1 (22:14):
Well, I mean, do you think you've got a couple
of family members that wouldn't mind having broken legs for
a Kentucky football win over ally?

Speaker 4 (22:19):
And I think you have to. You'd have to put
the Kentucky players at risk.

Speaker 2 (22:24):
But no, the curse is on them.

Speaker 7 (22:27):
I know.

Speaker 4 (22:27):
But you might have to injure a Kentucky player to
get what you want. I don't know if that's a
good trade off.

Speaker 1 (22:32):
All right, we'll talk about it during the break. I
want to make this happen. We'll be all right by

A couple of things from the text Loves if you
don't mind shouting, One person says to Shannon, think Jobey
Hall's album is better than Pat McAfee.

Speaker 1 (24:01):
Yes, I would listen to Joeby Hall's album over Pat
McAfee's album any day.

Speaker 2 (24:07):
Okay?

Speaker 5 (24:08):
Have you?

Speaker 4 (24:08):
I would? Have you only heard it? I've only heard
like songs coming in out of break on KSR. To
be fair, I haven't heard that the whole album.

Speaker 2 (24:14):
You haven't heard a song. I can hear Kentucky calling me.

Speaker 4 (24:20):
I don't know it goes. Can hear Kentucky calling me
it is? Is that better because we do a Kentucky show?

Speaker 1 (24:32):
Yes, Pat mcafe, Yes, that's the way he sounds the song.

Speaker 4 (24:36):
So one person on the text line says, what are
the limits of this witch's powers? Can she end the
KOs Are curse? Can she fix Matt's nose whistle? Did
she give Shannon the confidence to wrestle against men instead
of women.

Speaker 2 (24:47):
I've wrestle plenty of man. What are you talking about.

Speaker 4 (24:50):
Well, we during the break we just said we need
to find a fan like who is willing to break
their leg in order for Kentucky to win eight games
this year.

Speaker 2 (24:56):
Well you're saying.

Speaker 1 (24:57):
What you're saying is we need a sacrificial fan or
two that would be willing to take some sort of
bodily harm for Kentucky to get to six wins.

Speaker 4 (25:05):
People tattoo stuff on their Yeah, I don't know. I
gotta think somebody would be out there.

Speaker 1 (25:10):
I don't want to be a part of injuring a fan.
But voodoo, on the other hand, that's another story. I'm
willing to dabble in Etsy.

Speaker 4 (25:17):
Which the dolls freaked me out. I don't know dolls Oh, yeah,
me too, voodoo dolls and somebody's like poking it. Yeah.
I feel like there was a video of a fan
in the stands with a voodoo doll of an opposing
player at one point.

Speaker 2 (25:30):
Don't you remember annabel cursed us last year?

Speaker 1 (25:33):
The basketball team was cursed because Annabel came into Rapperina
on this I don't know, horror con thing they were doing.
And they were bringing Annabelle the doll around and putting
it on display in different cities, and they brought her
to Lexington.

Speaker 2 (25:46):
And then wasn't it that night or that next day.

Speaker 4 (25:49):
That the handler died? Right?

Speaker 1 (25:51):
Well, yeah, the handler died and our players were going
down with ankle injuries and everything else.

Speaker 4 (25:56):
It's like yeah, and then Matt Mott continued to mock it. Yeah,
and that was the thing you cannot do when it
comes to curses and witches. So I don't know, maybe
we're on, maybe we're getting somewhere, Shan, But I.

Speaker 1 (26:07):
Just still still waiting on a ruling from a Lobal
judge on whether or not fifth year players will be eligible.

Speaker 2 (26:13):
I thought we would already have a ruling by now.

Speaker 1 (26:15):
I think that I was reading match tweet I guess
he sent this out a few days ago. He was
saying that the judge was saying by the end of
this week. But I would think by today because I
thought it originally the extension went until Tuesday, So I
would think that you would have a ruling by today.
Maybe we will or maybe it'll be the end of
the week, but we're still still waiting on that. Did
you see what Michigan is doing for incoming freshmen? I

(26:37):
want to ask you about this and CSA like this
all right, So you know when you go to class,
bill A, traditionally you get a grade an A, A, B, C,
D or F. Well, Michigan, for incoming freshmen this fall semester,
they will either get a pass or a fail. They
will not get a traditional letter grade. As I guess,

(26:57):
they're easing them into college. But what's your take on this?
Is this, uh, just a commentary on how self society
has become that we can't hurt anybody's feelings by giving
them a D their first semester. Or do you like
that they're easing in these college students by just giving
them a pass or a fill, not a traditional ABC,

(27:19):
D or F.

Speaker 4 (27:20):
No. No, I mean obviously I don't like it. That's
kind of where my first thought was, was the softness
of society today. But I also think on the other
side of it, like I want to know the difference
between an A and a C. Me too, you know
what I mean. I feel like that's an important distinction.

Speaker 1 (27:34):
If I'm paying thousands and thousands of dollars to go
to a school, I need to know where I rank.
I don't need to know if I'm just good enough
to pass or fail, because you could pass in theory
and be a D student.

Speaker 2 (27:47):
And that's not good enough to me, right, all right,
Like I need to know where I ran.

Speaker 4 (27:50):
I need to excel. I want to be one of
the best in my class. So, like you look at
it as easing in freshmen, I also feel like it
takes away from maybe the highest achie doing something like this. Yeah,
but do we need to coddle freshmen like that?

Speaker 7 (28:05):
Like?

Speaker 4 (28:05):
Is that how you see the story is that we've
It feels that way to me, But I mean mental
health all these things with that. Yeah, Like I just
I don't know. That seems a little extreme, but college campuses,
we've seen some of the most extreme things happen in
the last decade, right.

Speaker 1 (28:19):
You're going to get your grades the next semester. So
what's the difference between the first one and the second one?

Speaker 2 (28:27):
You know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (28:27):
It's not like they're going to go through the entire
college career and not have traditional grades. You're going to
get it the next semester. Why wouldn't you have it
from the beginning.

Speaker 4 (28:37):
Well, they're adjusting to college life and they're away from
their parents for the first time.

Speaker 1 (28:41):
And how does this work if I want to transfer?

Speaker 2 (28:45):
I've taken all these basic classes?

Speaker 4 (28:46):
What do you do there?

Speaker 1 (28:47):
Yeah, you know, I'm in Michigan. I want to go
to the Ohio State.

Speaker 4 (28:51):
Let's say, what'd you get in your gen ed's in
your first year? I actually can I.

Speaker 2 (28:56):
Got a pass? Well, you didn't get an A or
a B or see.

Speaker 4 (29:00):
No, but what'd you get on your final exam pass task?

Speaker 2 (29:05):
Do you think that was?

Speaker 1 (29:06):
I mean, I don't know how what even warker? Have
you tried to transfer to another school?

Speaker 4 (29:09):
No, that's that's a great question. I don't know how
that would work if you would want to transfer somewhere.
But hopefully this does not become a trend. We need
to give our kids f's or as when they deserve it, Like,
there's nothing wrong with identifying how smart somebody is at
a learning institution.

Speaker 5 (29:26):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (29:27):
Kentucky basketball also over the weekend, Billy, we didn't hit
this yesterday, but they added Texas Tech to their preseason schedule.

Speaker 2 (29:33):
Okay, does that?

Speaker 7 (29:34):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (29:34):
I mean, I know it's preseason. Does that excite you
at all? Or would you rather play a Kentucky like
an in school state.

Speaker 2 (29:41):
In what order?

Speaker 1 (29:41):
Did you rather play a Yukon or somebody that's like
a Purdue? And let's get over hyped. When we beat
a team like Purdue last year, I think that we're
going to the national championship and then end up with
a mediocre season.

Speaker 4 (29:52):
Yeah, I'd much rather play the end state teams. But
I'm also biased in this as a as a Western guy,
I think you would do a lot more for the
state playing in state teams like that. You know, I
can't say I know a ton about Texas Tech. I
feel like this would be more interesting if it was football,
because they have this megadona right now and they're trying
to compete at the very top. But it is. You

(30:13):
said this is an exhibition game, right right? You know
this doesn't matter, so there is a sense of let's
get these guys against some better competition before the real
game starts. So if you were to argue against let's
play Western and Eastern, it's let's play better teams so
nobody worse than that is who you should play in
exhibition games? And would you play Perdue in Georgetown? Last year?

(30:34):
Beat Perdue, lost to Georgetown.

Speaker 1 (30:36):
This year it is Arkansas Little Rock, so Travis Ford's
team and now Texas Tech.

Speaker 4 (30:42):
And maybe one more. I think maybe one more.

Speaker 1 (30:44):
Yeah, I think they can do three, So we'll see
if they added I would like to see them add
one more, like big marquee opponent, like a Yukon.

Speaker 2 (30:54):
I don't know that they'll do that, but if.

Speaker 4 (30:56):
Then you beat Yukon and then think that you're going
to walk to the national championship.

Speaker 1 (31:00):
But I guess my point is, though, if you're going
to have these preseason games, let's use them to actually
get better. Like I would rather get drummed by a
Gonzaga or a Yukon in a preseason game, then beat
the Lithuanian national team by sixty points like they used
to back in the nineties when they weren't allowed to
play actual teams, you know, so why why not use

(31:21):
that to get prepared for the season.

Speaker 4 (31:23):
I agree with that premise, and I think that should
naturally be the way people think. But I also want
to see Trent Noah see a couple of shots go through. Yeah.
I want these guys to build that confidence early on
in the year so when you do get to conference play,
you haven't just been beaten down the entire time.

Speaker 1 (31:36):
Well, that's why we have Bryant on the schedule. That's
the game that actually comets to that's right, Yeah, that's
that's the rep Arena home schedule.

Speaker 2 (31:43):
That's right. Hey, Bob, and Jamestown's on the line.

Speaker 3 (31:45):
Hey Bob, what do you say? Guys, you're talking about
these grades in college. When I went to Miami of
how and got a four hour IF one time in
the situation.

Speaker 2 (31:58):
What does that mean? Four hour F?

Speaker 3 (32:02):
I got an F in a four hour class.

Speaker 1 (32:05):
I mean the class the class was only four hours
long the entire semester, like total.

Speaker 3 (32:10):
No, No, it was a four credit hour class.

Speaker 2 (32:12):
Oh, four credit hours okay, yeah, four.

Speaker 3 (32:15):
Credit hour class. Anyway. The situation was the president of
the university taught one class a year. Uh in Ohio history.
Well before the before the class one day I snuck
into the room and put a Playboy centerfold in one
of those pulled down maps the class. Anyway, somebody ratted

(32:44):
me out because what happened President Shreiver, he was facing
the class and reached up behind him and went and
pulled down that that map. Well then this guy was
bald headed, and I mean he turned bright red when
everybody start to laugh. Well, well, anyway, nothing else what

(33:05):
was said. But then when the grades came out at
the end of there, you were GREG was based on
an essay and you either you know, it's like, uh,
that was that was what your GREG was based on
this essay on the final exam?

Speaker 2 (33:18):
What was the articles?

Speaker 3 (33:21):
No, no, no, But when but when the when the
grades were posted, I got a four hour AF Like
I say, somebody ratted me out, and that's what that.
He never said anything, never never addressed me about it
or it ain't calling me out. But then when those
grades came out, I got a.

Speaker 2 (33:38):
Four hour Well I'm sorry, Bob, you learned your lesson.

Speaker 3 (33:43):
Yeah, yeah, that's itt. Some guys have a good one.

Speaker 2 (33:46):
All right, Bob. I appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (33:48):
I was about to say, what, how do you think
Bob and Jamestown would have been as a student. I
would say probably talks too much because he can't even
come to a ks R remote without talking and getting
in trouble with with with Matt.

Speaker 4 (33:58):
Well, hopefully cell phones weren't a thing when he was
actually in classes back then, So the cell phones weren't
a thing then, No, that's what I'm saying. It wasn't
a thing, so he wasn't able to talk like that,
but he definitely was a note passer, a playboy centerfold
put on your map. You know, we hate snitches, but
maybe Bob, you deserved that one.

Speaker 2 (34:17):
After eighty five, nine, twenty two, eighty seven. Did you
ever do anything like that?

Speaker 4 (34:22):
Or you're asking the wrong guy. Until I went to college,
I was straight laced, not the teacher's pet. But I
wasn't snitching on people either, but I was, you know,
I got to see in the Spanish class ones that
was devastating to me. Honestly.

Speaker 1 (34:38):
I took two years of French and still don't know
any French. Talk about wasted classes.

Speaker 4 (34:42):
No same here. It took three years of Spanish over
high school and college and I can only ask where
the bathroom's at.

Speaker 2 (34:47):
Drew's up next? Hey, Drew, what's up?

Speaker 5 (34:51):
Hey?

Speaker 7 (34:51):
Hey guys, I want to tell you something talking about today,
but you know the whole act like you've been there,
taught thing. I once went to the Joke Center with
my three sons and I waited until there's a guy
that walked out and had the door propped open, and
we snuck down into the Dell Craft Center. It was
when the team was prepared for the Bahamas, and we

(35:12):
met Karl Anthony Towns to Kari Johnson, we met Andrew Harrison,
went Tyler Euless, And it's just because we walked down there.
Of course, I had three kids with me, so it
looked a little funny, but we asked like we knew
where we were going, and we got there secretly. So
I just wanted to show that story.

Speaker 2 (35:28):
All right, Drew, I appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (35:29):
Thanks for calling out a big part of sneaking into
someplace billy, act like you belong there.

Speaker 2 (35:34):
If you act like you.

Speaker 1 (35:34):
Belong there, most time, people won't question you. I think
we've talked about this. I love this YouTube channel where
these guys go to ballparks. Have you seen this, and
we talked about this. They go to ballparks and they
try to see, like who can stay in the ballpark
the longest without getting kicked out.

Speaker 4 (35:49):
Yeah, there's a guy, I think his name's g fed Yeah,
does this. He puts the timer on. Yeah, he says,
how long can we stay in this before we can
actually get kicked out?

Speaker 5 (35:56):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (35:57):
And the guy when I was watching, I forget what
stadium it was in, but the I just went to
the bathroom stall and acted like he was having issues.
He's like, I'll get out of here as soon as
I can, And he was just trying to buy time
so that he could win the prize of staying in
the stadium the longest. But look, I'm not advocating anybody
should do this, but it is entertaining to watch other

(36:17):
people who have already done it.

Speaker 4 (36:18):
And he is really entertaining that guy specifically, I have
seen other people that do this thing where they try
to stay in a Walmart overnight or like Clows or
something like that.

Speaker 1 (36:27):
Well, Walmart, there's twenty four hours, I mean, what's is
that illegal?

Speaker 4 (36:31):
Well maybe maybe it's not Walmart, but these stores that close,
you know, they're they're hiding in the in the aisles
and on the upper levels and things like that. And
then I don't know, that seems a little bit more
nefarious than how long can I stay in a stadium
in which people are already at right? I think I
think I told you.

Speaker 1 (36:47):
I think I told you the story or the classmate
that I had that ended up like sleeping in a
value mart.

Speaker 2 (36:54):
They'll tell you the story. No, I didn't.

Speaker 4 (36:57):
Why would he sleep in a value mart? Was he
well down on his luck?

Speaker 3 (37:01):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (37:01):
I think he was. And he was sleeping in a
value mart. And turns out like when they would close
up the party was on, like he would just start
just like eat having his way. He would eat whateverever
food he wanted to eat.

Speaker 2 (37:12):
At one point he.

Speaker 1 (37:13):
Got a grill out and started grolling inside and they and.

Speaker 2 (37:17):
Then I think they they caught him in the roof.
He fell through the.

Speaker 4 (37:20):
Roof one day, So he fell through the roof.

Speaker 2 (37:22):
Through the ceiling, I mean, through the selling tile. He
was living up there there.

Speaker 4 (37:26):
You're getting a little egregious. If you're using the grills
and you're eating the field there, you could probably get
away with sleeping on one of the couches or mattresses.
But I don't know. You took it a little bit farther.

Speaker 1 (37:37):
Remember frogging the show, frogging people living in my hider
in my house, think I was just living inside of
a grocery store.

Speaker 4 (37:44):
Yeah, that's weird. Or the people that take over a
house and then just say that it's theirs now squatters,
Oh yeah, squatter's right. I don't understand.

Speaker 1 (37:52):
I do not understand that at all. You mean I
could just walk into a house and claim its mind?

Speaker 4 (37:55):
Who the hell thinks that this is their house just
because they walked in?

Speaker 5 (37:58):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (37:58):
I was gone.

Speaker 2 (37:59):
Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (38:01):
Well, if you want a new house, billy, just walk
in there and to say it's yours, no.

Speaker 4 (38:04):
Like scar like that feels like the rules. I don't know.
Maybe somebody can may explain that to us one of
these days.

Speaker 2 (38:10):
Hey, five nine two eighth twenty two eighty seven, we've
got a couple of more calls. Hang on the line.

Speaker 1 (38:13):
We'll get to you after the break. We'll be right
back on the ksrpre Show. Welcome Back Kit is the
final segment of the KSR pre Show A five nine
two eight oo twenty two eighty seven. We'll go back
to the phones in just a minute. Did you get
the answer on the squatter's rights thing we were talking about.

Speaker 4 (38:26):
Well, kind of this makes sense to me. These rights
exist mainly to encourage property owners to maintain and use
their land and prevent property from being abandoned indefinitely through
the rules in time periods varied by state, So you
can't just have land that you don't do anything with it.
I guess squatter rules allow, or I guess encourage people
to use their land, so this thing doesn't happen.

Speaker 1 (38:48):
I've heard people about people in Florida would just go
into somebody's condo and they just all of a sudden
take it over, Like what, how does that even work?

Speaker 5 (38:55):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (38:55):
And then there are people beaten on the door saying,
let me into my house. Yeah, except that seems more extreme.
And like my property that I haven't touched in five years,
somebody's living in right, that's right.

Speaker 2 (39:04):
Yeah, let's go to Grant. Grant's up next?

Speaker 5 (39:06):
What's up?

Speaker 2 (39:06):
Grant?

Speaker 6 (39:08):
Uh? What's up? Can you hear me?

Speaker 2 (39:10):
Yep?

Speaker 4 (39:10):
We got you, got you? Grant?

Speaker 6 (39:13):
All right? I checked two quick questions. The first one's
about TVP. I mean, I asked it for about a month.
If you can have like one post COVID player from
the cal Era to join for next season, who would
you pick? I think I'm between Damian Collins and Davion Mint.
I just love watching those suits. And then my second
question was, with all the renovations they've done the Kroger Field,

(39:37):
have they done anything for the speakers because they're pretty
terrible And I was just wonder if they were updating
the sound system as well, and I'll.

Speaker 1 (39:44):
Hang up in The speakers and Wi Fi have been
an issue in Kroger Field for a long long time.

Speaker 2 (39:50):
I don't know that they've updated the speaker system.

Speaker 4 (39:54):
I saw they were pressure washing the outside.

Speaker 1 (39:56):
Well this is gonna look at least it's gonna be shiny,
but I know, like the Wi Fi, I mean, it
continues to be a problem. You have to go out
to the concourse just to be able to get reception
sometimes when you're there at the game itself, and.

Speaker 4 (40:10):
That's tough when all your tickets are digital. I think
you haven't saved him to fun.

Speaker 1 (40:13):
I think they've tried to make that better, but I
still think that there's there's problems with it.

Speaker 4 (40:17):
You know, well, we've seen concession prices go down. Maybe
that's maybe one of the next initiatives that Stein can take.
And regarding post COVID Kentucky players, bring back a guy
like Chris Livingston. I'd love to see what he can
do with the TVT team. What about you? Yeah, Oscar Oscar? Yeah,
he's still chasing that NBA dream.

Speaker 2 (40:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (40:36):
I don't know if he would be available for it,
but he would be. He would be my pick for sure.
Let's go to Scott. What Scott got about a minute?

Speaker 5 (40:42):
Hey, I got two quick questions. Now I have to
listen the ap pole. How do they do? That is
the strinth to schedule? And number two is if that's
the case, do you think if Globell had a schedule
that they will still be ranked in the top twenty five?
Stop your guys, Banks.

Speaker 2 (41:01):
Thanks for the call.

Speaker 1 (41:02):
What do you think, Billy, if they had Louisville schedule,
do you think they'd be in the top twenty five?

Speaker 2 (41:07):
Who Kentucky?

Speaker 4 (41:08):
Kentucky? Yeah, if they had Louisville schedule.

Speaker 1 (41:10):
Well, I mean, first of all, I mean, yeah, Louisbulls
schedule is front loaded, so once they get past like
week four or five, if they can win those games,
then they're set for the rest of the season.

Speaker 2 (41:21):
Kentucky's is all spread out.

Speaker 1 (41:22):
I mean, they've got, as we already said, seven top
twenty five teams.

Speaker 2 (41:26):
They've got to play in twelve games, so Louisville's.

Speaker 4 (41:30):
One of them at the end of the season. Now,
the AP poll is voted on by writers and even
some broadcasters, So those are opinions and people voting in
for the preseason.

Speaker 1 (41:41):
Yeah, all right, if you want Patton Oswalt tickets, right
Patton Oswalt coming into the comedy off Broadway, text Billy
right now five oh two two six five six six
five six five O two two sixty five sixty six
five six, and Billy will randomly pick one of you
and give you free tickets to Patton Oswell.

Speaker 4 (42:00):
I will pick the third person that text in.

Speaker 1 (42:02):
Promo code KSR on DraftKings spend five, get one hundred
and fifteen rewards on DraftKings promo code KSR. That's it
for the pre show, KSRS up next.

Speaker 2 (42:09):
Thanks for listening.
