Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome everyone to another edition of the KSR pre Show.
Today is Thursday, August twentieth. I'm Billy Rutler's along with
Shannon the Dude. Give us a call in the Clark's
Pumping Shop phone line today. That's eight five nine two
eight oh two two eight seven. Text us at five
oh two two sixty five sixty six five six. That's
our Quantroll Auto Group text line. And we are presented

(00:22):
by Cornbread Hemp. Go to Cornbreadhemp dot com and learn
more about saving hemp and what we can do to
keep our our favorite hemp products on the shelves here
in the fall in the winter of twenty twenty six.
For this Thursday edition, Shannon the Dude is alongside me.
Happy National Radio Day to my co host in Louisville
that I team up with every day via teams. Good morning, dude,

(00:45):
how are you.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
I'm doing good. I didn't know that it was National
Radio Day. What do we get? Where's my cake?

Speaker 1 (00:50):
Nothing?

Speaker 2 (00:50):
Nothing?

Speaker 1 (00:51):
Now, there's a can of green beans in the pantry
that somebody brought for the Thanksgiving pot luck that nobody cooked.
That maybe you can you could cook up today, dude,
to celebrate What do you think about that.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
No, I don't have a can opener. I don't know
how to get into the can I can't. We already know,
we've already established this a long time ago. Unless there's
a grill in front of me, I'm not cooking anything
other than maybe ramen noodles. I can do the ramen
noodles in a microwave, but I'm not manning the stove.
I can do stuff on the grill, but not anything
when it comes.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
To that, any deli meat at home and cheese and
some bread. Did you put together a sandwich for me
to die?

Speaker 2 (01:26):
Not for you?

Speaker 1 (01:27):
Oh gonna make a sandwich?

Speaker 2 (01:29):
No? But it is okay. So it's National Radio Day apparently.
And I was going to say, you know, we were
doing the Leech Report just a minute ago and Dick
Gabriel was hosting, and he said happy birthday Richie Farmer
at the end, Oh, happy birthday. I said, oh, okay,
it's Richie Farmer's birthday. But then I was like, well,
I need to text him happy birthday, right, So I do.

(01:50):
And then I'm waiting for a response, and I'm as
I'm waiting for the response, I'm looking it up. Going
is it really his birthday, and I find out it's
the twenty fifth, So I just want to say happy
early birthday, five days early. And you know I like
to get ahead of things in life. I'm a go
get her. So I wish you happy birthday five days
before your birthday. Then I think everybody listening right now

(02:11):
I should just wish Richie Farmer a happy birthday. However
you can do that. We talk to him and let
him know it's his birthday today. Little early birthday changed
his birthday to August twentieth.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
Well, he also said Rich Brooks, So I hopefully it's
Rich's birthday today too. Hopefully we're not early on that one.
His name was rich at your birthday. Well, what a
day to share a birthday with. I mean Rich Brooks,
somebody that brought the Kentucky program to a place where,
after a one year gap with Yoker Phillips Mark Stoops
was able to take it to even a higher place.

(02:41):
There's a lot of gratitude to what Rich Brooks did
to this place. And who could retire any better than
what Rich does. I mean, you follow him on Twitter
right like the golfing and fishing that he does. He
is living the dream.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
But better you like that though, Like, do you remember
every one of your friend's birthdays? Be honest, because I
mean I have a hard time remembering people's birthday. Usually
Facebook will help you get on Facebook and that says
today is this person's birthday, But I don't remember. I
mean I remember like my mom and dad's and you know,
significant other, but I mean that's about it. Like other

(03:13):
than that, I don't remember what your birthday is. Do
you remember mine? Gee?

Speaker 1 (03:17):
Things?

Speaker 2 (03:18):
Do you remember mine? Right now? On the spot? Do
you know my birthday?

Speaker 1 (03:21):
It is December twentieth, wrong, so it either but I'm close.
I'm in the month. Yeah, what month is mine?

Speaker 2 (03:28):
In one of the twelve?

Speaker 1 (03:31):
Oh okay, just as I expected. That's okay, though, dude,
I'm the same way. If Facebook doesn't remind me, Corey
Price normally does because Corey does a great thing and
he wishes people's birthday Happy birthday at like twelve oh one.
Oh really, So the wife got mad at me one
year because Corey was the first person to wish her
a happy birthday and I wasn't. Oh yeah, okay, Corey,

(03:54):
You're making me look bad at this point. But he's
we have to have them or we're not going to
be remembering these birthdays.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
But I'm gonna put these birthdays in my phone, so
now i'll remember and I won't get fooled by false
birthday reports.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
Okay, well you can put my thirty second birthday would
be on May one, twenty twenty second.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
Yeah, I knew that right around Derby.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
Yes, and your fifty first birthday will be December what
twenty first, but not twenty first? But are you telling
me I guess twentieth and you said I was wrong?

Speaker 2 (04:23):
Well that's not right.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
My birthday I was a day off.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
I don't care you're wrong.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
I mean give me some credit ring the bell for almost.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
I mean, well, first of all, mine's easy to remember
because it's right by Christmas, and you were twenty four
hours off. I'm not giving you credit.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
I would like. I mean, people are wishing Richie Farmer
happy birthday five days off. I get twenty four hours off,
and you can't give me that.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
Do we say that New Year's Day is January the second? No,
we say it's January.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
The first, Well, my resolutions are normally over.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
We say the Independence Day is July the fifth? No,
do we say Halloween is November the first, No, we
do not.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
No. But if I'm from a different country and I
say Independence Day is July fifth, I'd say, hey, that's
a pretty good guess. Let's say you're almost on.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
My birthday remains the same all the way across the board,
no matter what country you're in, it's still December twenty first.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
Well do birthdays even really matter after a certain age, right?
I mean, it's just it kind of gets more depressing
as the years go on. But we did celebrate Ryan's
birthday this week. That's been a lot of fun. Yeah,
talked about him going out to dinner last night. I
appreciate everybody, everybody's feedback from yesterday as I hosted KOs Hour.
Shout out to Evelyn, who eviscerated me.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
Evelyn's my favorite caller. She said, how dare you, billy
not allow little kids to be in What is this
that you are doing anyway? Fantasy football league?

Speaker 1 (05:41):
For Yeah, it's a cover zero fantasy football league, okay,
and we were looking for some variety. So me and
Paul ended up picking ten people to join the league
with us, and I just I made the executive decision
that we didn't need thirteen year olds at the sports
bar while we were going to be doing a live draft.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
Well, of course, first of all, thirteen year old could
get into a sports bar, right and anybody can come
into a sports bar. So I think you need some
you want to diversify it, you need some representation on
the younger end of the spectrum. So how was the
youngest person in the league.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
I think there's a junior at the University of Kentucky
that has made the league. So so yeah about twenty one.

Speaker 2 (06:23):
Okay, see, you could have gotten Evelyn in the league.
I just here's the reality. You all didn't want Evelyn
in there, because if Evelyn kicked everybody's butt, that would
make everybody else look bad. Or the kid came in
and won the league.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
Yeah, I'd really love Evelyn's dad to be running the
fantasy football team for her. That's that'd be a lot
of fun.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
Yeah, really, you're going to double down on that. Evelyn
would sound like she knew exactly what sports were about
and knew how to pick a team, and I'm sure
would do a good job. Probably just a good We're
all just guessing anyway, when it comes to fantasy football.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
Oh please, I'm an expert, Shannon. We did a show
if we don't have experts in society today. If I'm
an expert in anything, it's fantasy football, So it's okay.
You might be an unfair advantage.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
I want to weekly report on the standings now, so
that when you're a last place, you have to sit
in a waffle house for twenty four hours and eat
fifty waffles.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
So that Yeah, I don't think we're gonna have like
anything for the winner, but I think we are going
to have a punishment, which we have not decided. So
if anybody has some good ones, they'd like to suggest
five h two two six five six six five six.
I don't necessarily want to sit in a waffle house
for twenty four hours. There have been some creative ones
out there, but if you have any, we'd love to
hear it from him. I shout out to fast Eddie,
the limo driver we talked a little bit about yesterday,

(07:34):
who used to be on the streets of Lexington. I
would have loved to take a limo uber, Shannon. So
there may be something to what we were talking about yesterday.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
Well, you know, I've got that broken down jeep that's
not running. So maybe I could just get a limo
to drive me to work every day.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
I could be like Cali respensive.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
I could be like Howard Stern, he's got Ronnie the
limo driver. I could have Billy the limo driver. You
could come pick me up and take me in every day.

Speaker 1 (07:55):
Well, Howard only has to do one show a week now, right,
it would be a little bit easier on the pockets
to get that lima.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
Which, by the way, did you hear that story we
were talking about with Howard Stern on Friday? You probably
didn't because you weren't there at the show. No, So
there was this report from a staffer, you know, they
had to come in and do a bunch of layoffs.
There was a staffer that was anonymously reporting that they
were not allowed to talk to him at any of
the company parties or anything like that. So if they
had like a you know, serious ExM or Howard Stern

(08:21):
Christmas party, you weren't allowed to go up and talk
to him if you saw him in public, and even
if you worked.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
With him, that's not right. So you're telling me, like.

Speaker 2 (08:30):
Imagine Billy, like I said, Okay, we'll do the show together.
But if you see me in public, don't talk to me.
You're not allowed to talk to me.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
Yeah, that's terrible. I mean, what do you mean, like
I can't come up and say hi, am I going
to cramp your style? Is that really?

Speaker 2 (08:44):
Allowed to talk to me? If we're in front of
the microphone, that's the only time you can talk to me.
If we're not on the air, don't talk to me.
That's kind of what he, according to this former employee
of The Stern Show, is saying. And I don't know
if that ruins you know, if you hear, like, let's say,
one of your favorite celebrities or you know, favorite athletes,

(09:05):
if you hear stories like that, does it ruin your
perception of who they are as a person? Does it
make you like them as much and not want to
pull for them or not want to listen to their
show or whatever it is because you hear how they
are behind the scenes.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
Well, yeah, you put these guys on a pedestal already, right,
but they're they're human in many ways. But then you
hear something like this, which is just genuinely kind of rude.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
Yeah, like, don't tell me.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
I get it to a degree, like you get mega
famous and you don't want people coming up to you
while you're eating. But this is your staff. This is
just like the people you work with. Yeah, there's nothing
to have in a little common courtesy. So that's disappointing.
He's one of your heroes, isn't He's not.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
Just slow down not heroes, but a guy that I
will listen to quite a bit.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
Be eo hero baby. I'm sure you saying that before.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
No Rique Iglesias, that's right, not singing that to Howard Stern,
But I mean it's somebody that I did listen to
on the radio and still do listen when he does
is one show a week on occasion, you know, I'll
still listen to the show. But it does kind of
ruin that perception of how somebody really is behind the
scenes when you hear about them. But back to your
point about the limo, do we know is it still

(10:10):
on the market? Does somebody snatch that up? I'm wondering
if we could follow up on any of the things
that we talked about because we gave it a huge platform.
I mean, Facebook market reaches a lot of people, but
this show reaches all across Kentucky. So I think there's
a good chance that somebody has sold a Limo and
probably a vending machine yesterday.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
And those Lightning Queen crocks for thirty dollars? Do you
think somebody bought those two?

Speaker 2 (10:32):
Nobody's buying the crocks. I mean that got negotiated down
to probably two dollars or maybe even free before somebody
would take those things. But but yeah, I'm sure that
was good for business. Were some of those Facebook marketplace posters.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
Yeah, the twenty thirteen Chrysler three hundred limo that seats
twelve people, including a driver in Bardstown, Kentucky is up
for seventeen five hundred dollars. Shannon, and I'd love to
make this purchase and go through with it, but you know,
I'm I was delighted to see Subway coupons in my
box yesterday. So that's kind of the status that I'm
at right now.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
We could we could buy me. I could jointly buy
the limo and split it.

Speaker 1 (11:07):
Oh yeah, split it. Maybe you're gonna take it every
other week and an uber as well, or are you
just gonna leave the uber into me and I'll just
have to pay you back and you'll hold that over
me for the rest of my life and the money
that I owe you.

Speaker 2 (11:20):
I'm just saying, I don't know. Do you have a
long driveway?

Speaker 1 (11:23):
No, not really than you veway and you don't even
want to see my driveway. Mario wants to come over
and film me mowing my lawn, and I just I
don't know if I'm ready for that. I just know
if I if I can't handle the backlash from Evelyn.
I don't know if I can take the backlash when
people see how bad this yard is.

Speaker 2 (11:39):
I mean, is this yard so tall They're gonna have
to get a bush hog in there? Yeah, get your
bush hog in there, boy, or maybe get a sickle
like a grim reaper to have to cut the grass
because it's so tall.

Speaker 1 (11:51):
Yes, the sickle could be used. At this point, there's
gonna be like, what is that junk in the backyard
that you haven't moved and things like that, and so
I'm just see, I just I would rather film a
video of it and just send it to you like
I did the garage.

Speaker 2 (12:04):
So I don't know for that, let me know. And
oh look, I just got a reply on my Facebook marketplace.

Speaker 1 (12:10):
What are you selling on Facebook marketplace.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
I'm on now, I'm glad.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
Hold on. It was very the pumpkin farmer over here
is now on Facebook marketplace.

Speaker 2 (12:18):
You got very topical because I'm selling some landscape edging.
You know, like those red brick edging that you put
around your landscape that kind of looks like a wave. Okay,
I've got like fifty of those things and I'm selling
them and I've got somebody that's coming to get them today.

Speaker 1 (12:31):
Farmer dude, landscaper dude. Yes, get a little bit of
that once market so.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
People actually have pride in what their home looks like
and actually do landscaping and don't let their grass go
up to five feet tall. And yeah, so I was
doing some landscaping. I replaced the edging that was around
the landscaping like a row man would.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
And I also didn't buy the home that I grew
up in as a child, like there is no value
sentimental value to it to me. So I mean I'm.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
Renting, dude, I understand. No, I understand. Yeah, when you
rent versus owning, it is different.

Speaker 1 (13:03):
So if and I started doing landscaping work, that value
doesn't come to me, right, that just increases the value
of a house that somebody else would sell, and my
rent doesn't get cheaper. That's just trying to make the
place look presentable.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
That is true. But you should have a little bit
of self respect and go mow your grass at least
once every couple of weeks.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
Billy, I promise to mow my grass at once every
couple of weeks, or maybe once a month. I promise
you that.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
But once a month is not enough in the summer,
according to who, according to everybody, Okay, decent human beings
all across the world.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
You can stay off my proper day and just watch
from afar. I guess we'll get a top of that.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
We've been invited to your home. You know. You talk
about me not inviting you to my You've never invited
me to your house one time, because.

Speaker 1 (13:43):
Yeah, I don't think anybody's been to my house.

Speaker 2 (13:44):
All I have to do is look for the tall grass.

Speaker 1 (13:47):
Mario and Drew when they were dropping each other off
to get their car, and they made those remarks about
my grass. This is how this all started. Well, another
thing I promise is we will give away Patton Oswald
tickets at the end of the show. To promise forgot
to do it. I promise, yes, we forgot to do
it yesterday at the Lexington Opera House on September fourth.
We'll be giving two winners some tickets at the end

(14:07):
of the show today, so stay tuned for that. Eight
five nine two A two two eight seven. If you'd
like to join us on the phone lines. We've got
some news to talk about today, including the Kentucky football
schedule for the coming years looks like it could have
a new wrinkle. We're only sixteen days away from the
start of this year. A zoom call that lasted two
and a half hours with a perspective transfer for Kentucky basketball,

(14:29):
and some other fun stuff, including what Leonora Sellers does
instead of going to class this fall. I don't know
if you saw that story, Shannon. That's a good one too.
So we'll take a break, be right back. Much more
on the way on this Thursday edition of the Case.
I appreciate camels and long grass and the same song, Shannon.
I think you've outdone yourself here well.

Speaker 2 (14:47):
As you were talking during the break there, I think
you had a good suggestion. You don't have to cut
the grass, bring the camel over to eat the grass.
Campbl's eat grass? Right, what would do Campbell's eat?

Speaker 1 (14:58):
He did start eating the tree that we were under
when we were taking pictures with the camels, so leaves
some grass.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
But camels also kind of live out in the desert, don't.

Speaker 1 (15:06):
They correct, Yeah, they store water in their hump.

Speaker 2 (15:10):
What do they eat? No grass out in the desert.

Speaker 1 (15:13):
I don't know. I wasn't responsible for feeding the camel
in this situation. I mean, we just got the money
together to get the camel and then that, you know,
if somebody else can feed it. We didn't have food,
but we did have people rs VP for the wedding
and not show, no call, no shows.

Speaker 2 (15:27):
Oh that's bad, putting our guy Tony Vanetti. So I
just saw Vannetti a few minutes ago.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
Well you don't, maybe ask him some questions next time
you see him, because I haven't heard from him, and.

Speaker 2 (15:39):
Vannette's got some splainer to do. So you're telling me
he told you that he would be there plus one, right,
he and his plus one?

Speaker 1 (15:45):
And you cut out? Can you hear me, Shannon?

Speaker 2 (15:47):
I can hear you? Okay?

Speaker 1 (15:48):
Yeah, sorry, yeah, you cut out.

Speaker 2 (15:49):
So you're telling me that Vanettie said to you that
he plus I guess his wife would be at your wedding, correct,
and then didn't cancel.

Speaker 1 (16:00):
The cancel just didn't show up. Wow, we just we
just had to eat that plate. Two plates.

Speaker 2 (16:04):
Actually, we had some to go boxes for them.

Speaker 1 (16:06):
I guess right, we had we had some to go box.
That's spending the whole next day cleaning up that venue.

Speaker 2 (16:11):
You know how you guys love to go boxes.

Speaker 1 (16:13):
That's right. Well, I'm looking at this coupon for two
foot longs for twelve ninety nine. Then I'm going to
be using later today. So lemon, I guess what.

Speaker 2 (16:20):
Hold on now? Two foot longs for twelve ninety nine. Yeah,
they act like that's a deal. Well, they used to
do a five dollars foot long.

Speaker 1 (16:27):
Get you can get there's one foot long for six
ninety nine is what I saw in the mail.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
That happened a five dollars foot long.

Speaker 1 (16:33):
Well five dollars foot Oh yeah, that's no longer a thing.
That was. But remember people started measuring the bread and
it was not, you know, twelve inches, it wasn't a
foot long.

Speaker 2 (16:43):
People got the rulers.

Speaker 1 (16:45):
Oh yeah, and that was back when they were five dollars.
We should have just been counting our stars.

Speaker 2 (16:49):
That people got a measuring tape out and measured their
foot long they did it. Turns out it wasn't a
foot long.

Speaker 1 (16:58):
No, it wasn't a foot long like you're it and Jeet, it.

Speaker 2 (17:00):
Must have been a man who made that sandwich.

Speaker 1 (17:02):
Now it's like seven dollars and thirty cents after taxes,
so I'm gonna have to see get the ruler back
out again. One person on the text line said, when
a friend of mine lost his fantasy football league, he
had to make a lemonade stand and sit out in
front of a convenience store for two hours. You like
that punishment, that's not that bad of a punishment and.

Speaker 2 (17:19):
You get to keep the money.

Speaker 1 (17:21):
Yeah, you better be doing that in like a dress
or something, or like a ballerina two two while you're
out there or something. Only two hours is I mean
that'll go buy in a blink of an eye.

Speaker 2 (17:30):
Yeah, that's nothing.

Speaker 1 (17:31):
That's easy, comparing to locking somebody in a waffle house
for twenty four hours after.

Speaker 2 (17:36):
And drink lemonade and make you know, a couple bucks.

Speaker 1 (17:39):
Off of that, or the guy that had to play
golf without a ball and not tell his playing partners.
What he was doing that was a recent one that
I saw that was pretty good. Just went out there
and swung the club and acted like he had hit something,
and people were like, what are you doing? Sixteen days
away from Kentucky football? Even sooner to week zero? Right,
I mean, college football is right around the corner. But
we got a report yesterday FBS schedules and some reporting

(18:01):
by Matt Jones is that reportedly Kentucky will play its
first games of the season in twenty twenty seven and
twenty twenty eight in week zero. They have moved up
the games of Murray State in twenty twenty seven in
Eastern Illinois in twenty twenty eight to be played in
late August in the coming years. Do you like this idea?

Speaker 2 (18:19):
Shit makes sense. I mean a lot of these games
or throwaway games for fan bases outside of Kentucky or
the team that you're playing. So if you're playing in
week zero, you get a lot more eyes on you,
right like the week zero for instances coming up. I
don't know who's playing in Week zero, but you can
bet that whenever it happens, I'm gonna be watching whoever.
Hundred percent you know what I mean, Like, it's football,

(18:40):
let's watch it. Let's go. Everybody's hungry for football after
all summer with no football. Whoever the teams are, you're
going to watch them. So I think it's a good,
good marketing ploy.

Speaker 1 (18:49):
Yeah, I completely agree, because I will be watching just
because I've been starved of football. Do you think maybe
this is a new Jay bad idea to get some
maybe more eyeballs out there Jay Bad or Will Stein
wanting to a Kentucky on the National Spotlight? Now's you
know National Spotlight Kentucky Murray State? Probably not, but still,
you know, it looks like they're changing the schedule a

(19:09):
little bit starting in twenty twenty seven when it comes
to adding a bye week in fourteen weeks. So this
is just part of it.

Speaker 2 (19:15):
Unless you're opening with an SEC school or a top
twenty five school. I would want to do this every year.
Play in week zero, you know, get your one of
the teams that you're going to beat into the ground
out of the way early and put it on you
know where people will be watching. A week zero makes sense.

Speaker 1 (19:32):
Well, now, if it was the Kentucky Louisville rivalry game
week zero, that would have even you know, more of
a prominence and eyeballs on it. Now we probably won't
get that. This rivalry week that has been started at
the end of the season is probably where Kentucky will stay.
But I am a proponent of playing it at the
beginning of the year. But if you can't do that,
why not play in Week zero where more people will
watch And uh, we'll get to watch Kentucky football even

(19:54):
sooner in the coming year. So interesting report yesterday. Speaking

Speaker 1 (21:00):
Speaking of college football, Lenora Sellers, the quarterback for South Carolina,
was asked, how are you doing on your degree? I mean,
are you almost there? I mean you you've been in
school for a few years, Lenora said he has no
classes in the fall. In fact, the only thing he
has to do is an internship that he has at
the party driving range where he cuts grass and picks

(21:20):
up range balls.

Speaker 2 (21:21):
There you go, you've done that before. That was a
job that you got fired from he is better at
picking up golf balls than you are, and doesn't the
drive the ballpicker into the lake.

Speaker 1 (21:32):
It was a slanted hill, it was raining. I got
a little like off center, not didn't get good traction,
just started sliding into the water. That is a true story.
But spare me the student athlete term that we're going
to hear about a few months now. What a joke, I.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
Mean, that's long gone.

Speaker 1 (21:52):
Are you worried about your chemistry class?

Speaker 3 (21:55):
No?

Speaker 1 (21:55):
No, no, just my internship at the party driving room.

Speaker 2 (22:00):
I'm making three million dollars in nil I'm making more
than everybody else in this class. What am I worried
about chemistry for?

Speaker 1 (22:07):
And internships? Aren't you like supposed to do that when
you're like learning about something new? You want to progress
in a field? What is there?

Speaker 2 (22:13):
This is just a way to get credit hours bank
and going out and playing on a golf course or
a driving range.

Speaker 1 (22:18):
Kentucky has a history of that too, with Chris Rodriguez
in the past, So maybe we should point fingers at
ourselves as well. But a funny story coming out with
Lenora Sellers. We'll take a break and be right back
here at the KOs Apprecia, welcome back. It is the
KSR pre show Billy and the Dude Here. On National
Radio Day we talked about Howard Sterne Tony Venetti. One

(22:41):
of my favorites back in the day was Delilah Shannon.
Did you ever listen to it Delilah on your ride
back home? Give you love advice?

Speaker 2 (22:48):
Not willingly. I was in the car with somebody that
had it on.

Speaker 1 (22:52):
Oh come on, I guess you were a rock DJ
in the making. You didn't like the sensitive side people
chiming in shouting out their significant others.

Speaker 2 (23:01):
Oh.

Speaker 1 (23:01):
I loved it. And I think she's still on. I
heard her the other day.

Speaker 2 (23:04):
So we were on a trip somewhere with KSR and
she was on, and I don't know, I think it
was out of Chicago or something like that, and I
was like, I couldn't I couldn't believe she was still
on the air. But I guess maybe she still is
even today. I don't know where would you find her?
What probably are one of our stations we shouldn't mention?

Speaker 1 (23:22):
Well, I have no idea. Honestly. It would just always
come on after a song I was listening to, and
I'd say, oh, here we go now. I can't change
the station. I've got Delilah back on. Shannon, let me
know what you think of this story. Grand Theft Auto
six is release date is November nineteenth. This is a
game a lot of people are excited for. People have
been waiting over a decade since the last Grand Theft
Auto so people are hyped. But as an incentive to

(23:46):
re enlist, a US Army unit at Fort Stewart, Georgia
is offering active duty soldiers a four day pass to
play Grand Theft Auto six when it releases this fall.
If a member signs up to rein list for two
to six more years, they can get four days off
to play the new Grand Theft Auto six game when

(24:06):
it comes out in November.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
I don't think that's gonna work, is it. Are you
going to trade four days for two to six years
of your life? So, I mean it's one of those
things like where if you're already going to enlist, then
you just get that as a bonus. But that's not
gonna be something that's going to persuade you to do that, right.

Speaker 1 (24:24):
I don't know. I mean, maybe you're a gamer out
there that really wants to play GTA six for four days, so.

Speaker 2 (24:30):
Then go buy it and play it for four days
and not in don'ant list.

Speaker 1 (24:34):
Well, I mean this is for people who already enlisted
who might not be able to play. We'll give you
an extended weekend. We just need six more years of
your life or really two.

Speaker 2 (24:43):
So if that's not gonna be enough to persuade me, well,
you know.

Speaker 1 (24:46):
They they use a lot of things to persuade people
to re enlist, right, like whether it be tuition or
maybe extra bumping money. Now you can add GTA six
Now I want to play GTA six with most of them, right,
but I don't know if I could commit two years
to something in order to get four.

Speaker 2 (25:02):
Days two ago. You're forgetting twos on the low end,
possibly six years.

Speaker 1 (25:07):
So no.

Speaker 2 (25:08):
But did you ever play that back in the day?

Speaker 1 (25:10):
Of course, Yeah, yeah, I played it. So but and
I'll be playing this one, don't get me wrong. I'll
be one of the people. See maybe use one of
my sick days and you see if I'm out in November, that.

Speaker 2 (25:22):
Is grand theft ot all day. Yeah, up to see.
I always got side tracked when I was playing that
game because you could do so much. But you're supposed
to go on missions, and I would get side tracked
and do other things, and the.

Speaker 1 (25:31):
Cops are coming after you.

Speaker 2 (25:33):
Yeah, I'll be hanging out at the bar when I'm
supposed to be running you know somebody, Yeah, somebody's girlfriend
over to the club.

Speaker 1 (25:39):
You know, I'm already at the club. What do you
mean I gotta runner over there? Why don't you just
meet me here?

Speaker 2 (25:45):
Exactly?

Speaker 1 (25:46):
I'm sure you were well off cops. Yeah, my parents
didn't let me play that game until I got of age.
That was the one I really couldn't play for a
while in the house, and it may be for a
reason after playing it after a few years. Eight five nine,
two to eight seven. Well, our first call to day
Tom is on the line. Good morning Tom, Good morning.

Speaker 3 (26:04):
How are you guys?

Speaker 1 (26:05):
Good doing great?

Speaker 3 (26:06):
Okay, question, I got a question here for Shannon. What
did you find out about your jeep? Shannon? Your car
that you quit on you yesterday? What's the deal?

Speaker 2 (26:14):
Well, I am not a motorhead when it comes to
car mechanics. I know absolutely nothing. But I was told
that it was something to do with a bag coil
on my engine. All right. I don't even know that
engines have coils. But apparently there's six different coils on there,
and one of them I guess, uh blue or whatever.
I don't know what coils do. Yeah, just on you. Well,

(26:40):
it was it was running, but it wasn't running well,
it was shaking, it was smoking, and it was doing
things that cars shouldn't do. I know that much.

Speaker 3 (26:47):
So you're not You're not like Matt Jones and you
don't you don't check your.

Speaker 2 (26:51):
Old but no, yeah no, I changed my oil. I
do all that stuff.

Speaker 3 (26:56):
Yeah, yeah, okay, well I was. I was just curious.
That sounds good. So how long is it going to
be out of commission?

Speaker 2 (27:02):
I think we'll probably have it back by the weekend.
I don't think it's anything too major. They said, you
should be fine. Yeah all right, buddy, all right, thanks
for checking in on my car.

Speaker 1 (27:11):
Tom, Yeah, Tom, just checking on your coils.

Speaker 2 (27:13):
Yeah, how are your coil is doing? You checked them lately?

Speaker 1 (27:16):
No idea right there.

Speaker 2 (27:19):
I went up to like one of these places, you know,
where you like an AutoZone, and they were trying to
explain it to me. I'm like, you're you might as
well be talking Japanese to me, because I don't know
what you're talking about, Well, if this coil slides over
to that coil, you might have a problem here. And
it was a misfire and I don't know what that means.
A missfire. He said, well, it missfired. I go, how
do I fix it? Well, this coil right here. The

(27:40):
second coil sometimes goes to the third coil, and sometimes
you have to take out the third coil to see
if the second coil has a link in it. And
I'm going, dude, I don't know what you're talking about,
but I'll be sure to pass the sound of my mechanic.

Speaker 1 (27:51):
I think there's a Seinfeld episode with the Johnson Rod
go to like a mechanic shop and they oh, it's
your Johnson Rod and it's differently. You can't really say okay,
thank you, Shandon. But you can't really say anything because
you don't know about cars, and you know, people can
get taken advantage of Oh yeah, it's gonna cost a
lot of money to do this very simple thing. Speaking

(28:13):
of incentives, we just talked about the Army and GTA six. Shannon,
I think Detroit public schools have figured it out. Were
you somebody that had perfect attendance ever in school? Were
you somebody that strived to do something like that? You
do that in your work life? Did you do that
in school too?

Speaker 2 (28:28):
No?

Speaker 1 (28:29):
No, no, okay, you were you were skipping? Huh?

Speaker 2 (28:31):
Well, you know some days with a little scratching your
throat and I can can't possibly study what these com.

Speaker 1 (28:38):
So I can't, I can't go today. I'm burning up right, Okay, Well,
Detroit public schools have are offering students one hundred dollars
a week for perfect attendance. Oh what in high school
it's one hundred dollars and in middle school it's fifty.
But there are weekly cycles between January and March where
these schools have a tough time with kids coming in,

(28:59):
whether it'd be a lot of sickness or the weather's
cold and people just decide not to come in. During
these ten periods, you can make up to one K
a week, or I'm sorry, one hundred dollars a week.
You can make one k over these ten periods if
you have perfect attendance. If you attend Detroit public schools.

Speaker 2 (29:17):
Man, I think all of a sudden, i'd be a
little more motivated to show up, wouldn't you.

Speaker 1 (29:21):
You're telling me that would go a long way for
somebody in high school, right, I mean dollars in high school.
And you're only talking about a period between January and March,
so I mean, this is not like the whole school year.
To get that one thousand dollars. I am definitely doing
everything in my power to get to classes. If I'm
going to be offered one hundred dollars.

Speaker 2 (29:40):
A week so I could get all my miss days
out from August till December, that's right, January through March,
it's on.

Speaker 1 (29:45):
Then you just come to class every single day.

Speaker 2 (29:49):
Man.

Speaker 1 (29:49):
See, there wasn't like that when I was in school.
We didn't get anything. What was it like when you
were in school? Did they not incentivize perfect attendance?

Speaker 2 (29:57):
No, you get like a sticker.

Speaker 1 (30:00):
Yeah, it's the same for us, and maybe an extra
award at the ceremony when you had to walk across
the stage or something like that.

Speaker 2 (30:08):
But nobody cares about the person's got perfect attendance.

Speaker 1 (30:14):
Well, some people took it very seriously. Yeah, Yeah, I
haven't missed the days ince kindergarten.

Speaker 2 (30:18):
Congratulations. I had a bunch of sick days with Bob
Barker and Chicken Noodle soup.

Speaker 1 (30:21):
That's right. Your love of Bob Barker wasn't because you
were at school.

Speaker 2 (30:24):
And I'll take that over your stupid perfect attendant sticker
any day.

Speaker 1 (30:29):
Yeah yeah, your star, gold star that we gave you
for coming to class every single day. Now you might
get a little bit of cash. Speaking to school, we're
in limbo when it comes to a lot of guys
trying to get their fifth year of eligibility. That's why
Kentucky basketball has an extra roster spot and they're looking
into several different guys, including Michigan State four year player

(30:51):
Jackson Coyer. He was part of a temporary restraining order
in the state of California that was issued against the NCAAA. Recently,
we're seventy three after leats were granted this temporary restraining order,
and I guess a new transfer portal window including Donovan Dent,
Sky clark Is, Xavian Lee, and Michigan States. Jackson Coleyer
was one of these people, and reportedly yesterday Mark Pope,

(31:13):
the Kentucky staff, and Jackson had a two and a
half hour zoom call. Apparently it went as good as possible,
as good as it could be. Shannon so two and
a half hours seems like a long time for a
zoom call, though, doesn't it.

Speaker 2 (31:25):
That's a very long time. And I like, by the
way that we're doing restraining orders against the NCAA, restraining
orders keep away from me.

Speaker 1 (31:34):
I need a transfer portal window within.

Speaker 2 (31:36):
Two hundred yards of this player.

Speaker 1 (31:38):
Yeah, Well, as we wait for a decision in the
Mark Mitchell cach with it, which is different than this
one in California. That's the thing that confuses me. It's
like by state, it's different. Alexafari can play based on
the ruling in Colorado. Well, you had to wait on
the ruling in Kentucky for Mark Mitchell to play. It's
a mess.

Speaker 2 (31:53):
But five hours, man, You're right. If I was wasting
two and a half hours on a zoom with somebody,
I better be going at that school. And what are
you talking about for two and a half hours?

Speaker 3 (32:03):
Right?

Speaker 1 (32:03):
So you get through the pleasantries.

Speaker 2 (32:05):
Do we get orientation or what are we doing here?

Speaker 1 (32:08):
You get through how I'm going to be used in
your offense, You get through my history and maybe my
years at Michigan State, and then there's still an hour
and a half left to get to two and a
half hours, right, So I mean that would be like,
I don't know, that seems like a really long time,
but it's a big decision, right. This is the guy
that played four years at Michigan State, put up twenty

(32:28):
against Kentucky and the Champions Classic in a blowout win,
and it was pretty good in the post. So Mark, Mitchell,
Jackson Coyer, they've got a couple options now for that
final roster spot.

Speaker 2 (32:39):
Nice. Yeah, we should be getting a ruling today expected Friday.
By Friday, yeah, tomorrow, So I think it'll go through,
but we'll find out in the next I guess what
forty eight hours?

Speaker 1 (32:50):
Yep, that sounds about right. Mark Pope had a one
on one with Jack Pilgrim on Kentucky Sports Radio the
last couple days or so. I'd implore everybody to go
read it. Thought Jack did a good job getting Mark
to open up recapping year two about some of the
standout moments, the thirty five point loss to Gonzaga or
Jayalen Lowe popping his shoulder out. Mark Pope got pretty

(33:11):
candid about it all. You know, it's been eleven years
since Kentucky's been in the Final four, Shannon.

Speaker 2 (33:16):
Has it been eleven years. I guess it has you
start counting back the years and what happened eleven years? Well,
they're due, They're due, no doubt about it.

Speaker 1 (33:24):
Well you know it'll go ahead.

Speaker 2 (33:26):
Yeah, I mean, I feel better about the roster as
it is now. Of course we'd feel a lot better
if Mark Mitchell ends up being added to it. I
think that's the difference in you know, maybe a second
round exit and a maybe Elite eight run. And if
you can get to nearly eight, then what who says
you can't get to the final four? So I think
this rolling is going to be a big factor in
how far Kentucky goes the show.

Speaker 1 (33:46):
I agree. I agree that depth in the front court
this could be a big issue. But you know, this
Kentucky team and Mark Pope in the past has thought
that they have built a roster that was good enough
to make a Final four. It's just been in extremely
bad luck when it comes to injuries. Yeah, I mean,
think of some of the injuries that they've had to
fight through over these first two years with Mark Pope,
Jackson Robinson, kerkkrisa Lamott Butler late in that year and

(34:08):
for a while Andrew Carr didn't start the year playing.
You also had Jalen Lowe in this past season. Guys
were going down like flies. So when you design an
offense entirely for a left handed point guard and then
he gets thrown tossed to the side right before the
season starts, you'd understand. So fighting an uphill battle with
the injuries. Mark talked about it not being an excuse

(34:31):
the expectations of the Kentucky fan base, But there is
a balance between all of it, and we'll have to
see how Mark Pulpe as entering a pivotal year three,
handles it all. Shannon just no Annabel Dolls, Etsy Witch is,
let's stay all away from that. We keep these guys
happy and healthy for the sea upcoming.

Speaker 2 (34:47):
We haven't seen one year yet where the entire roster
is healthy. So can they get through us a year
where we got a full roster that's available to them.
I mean, you don't want to use that as an
excuse for last year's failures because a lot of teams
deal with the same issues. But still yet, I think
it's valid to say, Okay, the guy's been here two

(35:09):
years and it has just been snake bitten with the injuries,
it feels like for the first two years here, So
let's see what happens if they can keep the roster
healthy and then judge them based off of that.

Speaker 1 (35:19):
Jane Quaints is another name you can have, but you
could argue that he took on that risk when he
signed a guy that had tours ACL in the same
calendar year. But think about that, like losses to Louisville, Michigan, State,
North Carolina, Gonzaga, followed by wins over Indiana and Saint
John's in Tennessee, twice in Arkansas and Vandy, So you
could say these guys did not let go of the

(35:40):
rope and did fight back in those years with Mark Pope,
and maybe that resilience will carry over into year three
because it better because I don't know how long the
patience of the fan base, Shanon, you know, yeah, I
mean I think Drew is a prime example of that, right.
I mean, you want to get back to being dominant,
you want to get back to expecting to win games,
being a pre season favorite in the eight peoples, Kentucky

(36:02):
just hasn't been that. So check out that article. Jack
Pilgrim Mark Pope on Kentucky Sports Radio dot com. We
need to take a break eight five nine two eight
two two eight seven If you'd like to join us
for the final segment here on this Thursday edition of
The Case our pre show, Welcome back. It is the
Case Our pre Show. Our final segment be handed off
to Matt Jones Kentucky Sports Radio from ten am to noon.
One person on the text line said, that's just gonna

(36:24):
make all the sick kids to come to school and
get everybody else sick. Probably true. Yeah, somebody is sick.
That's right. I'm coming whether I'm sickure or not to
get that money. But that is the worst when somebody
comes into the office when they're sick and just stay home.

Speaker 2 (36:40):
You know anybody like that? Here?

Speaker 1 (36:43):
Mmm?

Speaker 2 (36:43):
Maybe yeah, name any names?

Speaker 1 (36:45):
Now I'm not going to name any names. Oh okay,
but you know we do use these microphones, right, and
germs are pretty easy to spread on something like this. So, uh,
every day when I would drive into the old Louisville
office when I worked in Louisville with you, Shannon, I'd
path passed by the Ruth Chris Steakhouse and I would say,
you know, one day I'm gonna eat there. I'm gonna
eat at that steakhouse.

Speaker 2 (37:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (37:06):
It's like going to be a dream of mine. Oh dream? Ok, yeah, yeah,
because I'm gonna make enough money one day to eat
at the Ruth Chris Steakhouse as a part time we're
working at iHeart Radio. Well, Texas Roadhouse has purchased that tower,
the right tower or frame formerly known as the Caden Tower,
for twelve million dollars. You may have seen it when
driving on the waters and you know their headquarters is

(37:28):
actually not far from that actual tower. So this is
them just seeing it as expanding a little bit. The
Ruth Chris Steakhouse lease runs until twenty twenty nine, and
Texas Roadhouse plans to be just a land a landlord
until then. But Shannon, we might see Ruth Chris change
to Texas Roadhouse in the coming years in that Louisville tower.

Speaker 2 (37:47):
Texas Roadhouse Chris or just Texas Roadhouse Texas Roadhouse. Okay,
well this is what is So they have a Texas
Roadhouse at the top of the tower.

Speaker 1 (37:56):
I'm not saying that's their plan right now, but they
have bought that tower twelve million dollars. Does it like
rotate up there or something like that again.

Speaker 2 (38:05):
I've never been up there. Went one time, I very
like twenty years ago. I went there one time, and
I go one hundred dollars. I knew how much it
was gonna cost. But back then, though, you know you're
in college. One hundred bucks for a mill is a
lot like it better be special. So, so have you
been up You have been up there? Now?

Speaker 1 (38:23):
No, I've never been up up there. No, it was
these twenty dollars a week paychecks. I was like, I'll
never make enough to go up there. And now they've
that tower's been sold to Texas Roadhouse. I can throw
rolls in cinnamon butter from the top.

Speaker 2 (38:35):
I'm sure should have gotten that for you for your
Christmas Christmas, for your wedding gift. You know we could
still do that. I mean, I did get you a
wedding gift. By the way, did you get my wedding gift?

Speaker 1 (38:45):
I'm not sure because all the gifts didn't have names
on them. So I've got we've gotten a bunch of stuff,
But I don't know.

Speaker 2 (38:50):
What was the most expensive thing that you've gotten so far?

Speaker 1 (38:57):
A knife set? Maybe, I don't know. We got some
really nice You're welcome. Oh, Oh, that's what you're taking
credit for. What I didn't see a Theoro mask, Well,
that was what I was looking for.

Speaker 2 (39:07):
Their A mask doubled in price somehow, I don't know
if like the we had some major inflation with their mask.
It went from three hundred dollars to six hundred dollars.
And then I debated, do I go get like the
two hundred dollars when it colds, or do I have
to get the one that's on the thing. And I
think after some discussion, it was determined that it would
be in a bad look for me to go get

(39:28):
a cheaper version of the Thera mask that didn't cost
six hundred dollars.

Speaker 1 (39:30):
Well, the more, the more appreciated thing was the honeymoon fund,
the actual the letters in cash that we were able
to use to pay off some of these credit cards.

Speaker 2 (39:39):
Sheesh, Yeah, you're for the knife for a while. Yeah, hope,
hope you hope you cut up a lot of stick
with that knife I got.

Speaker 1 (39:45):
Speaking of money, I did see Alex Wilkins driving a
yellow Lamborghini boat around Saint Martin host that on Instagram
on Monday.

Speaker 2 (39:52):
It was only like that three hundred bucks or something
like that to do that.

Speaker 1 (39:56):
To three hundred dollars, I think it is well being
reported on that or price.

Speaker 2 (40:00):
Wouldn't you do that?

Speaker 1 (40:01):
Well? When your nil deal is estimated at two point
two million on on threes nil evaluation for Alex Wilkins,
then yeah, that's that's nothing.

Speaker 2 (40:08):
Right.

Speaker 1 (40:08):
It looked fun too, I mean it kind of looked.
I mean when in Rome, right, you're in San Martin,
why not get the Lamborghini boat. I've just never seen
anything like that.

Speaker 2 (40:15):
So let's say I said to you, Ability, you can
have two dinners at Ruth Chris Steakhouse, or you can
get on the Lamborghini boat one time. Which one you
going with?

Speaker 1 (40:24):
I'm going two dinners at Ruth Craft. But I'm going
to be rotating up in that restaurant. It's going to
be a dream come true for a young billy r sports. Hey,
the today is the opening day of the fair, Yeah
it is. Are you going to be out there at all?

Speaker 2 (40:38):
Well? Not today. I was planning on being there tomorrow.
We won't be there tomorrow though, but I will be
there on Saturday and the next Friday. I've got to
do some stage announcement stuff.

Speaker 1 (40:47):
