Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's Lavak and Guz on ninety five nine Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Is that fun time of year where.
Speaker 3 (00:10):
I don't know who who described it as such, but
it's kind of true where it's like any news that
comes from the NFL right now is probably bad news.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
I laugh because it's so spot on. You don't want
to be talked about a trading camp. You don't, You
don't even it's almost the offensive lineman attitude, like if
no one says their name during the broadcast, you probably
played great, you did great.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
You know, everybody's looking at the Cowboys. They have three
of their top stars looking for new deals. Cee Lamb
absent from camp again. He continues to be absent all
this stuff. I just kind of looking at the quarterback battles,
cause there's there's some fun ones out there, like I mean,
some of them.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
I guess.
Speaker 3 (00:50):
I have to ask you if you can think they're
actually a battle. Kirk Cousins, Michael Pennick Junior, not a battle.
You know who starts game one? Kirk Cousins, What if
he's not healthy? I would say he wouldn't start that.
I believe I would think I would think that the
Atlanta Falcons when they made that move, had understood that
Cousins would be healthy by week one. Now that's a
(01:11):
big assumption by me, and maybe falcon Fan is laughing, like, yeah, guys,
that would seem like the logical thing.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
I believe. Fontinet is his last name, the GM off
the top of my head, where he is the one
who decided to go Drake London, Kyle Pitts, Jon Robinson
and Pennix Robinson the year after they league in rushing
them in the Eagles. Kyle Pitts, which is almost a
rarety to take a tight end that high now, and
Drake London, who got hurt at USC during COVID. Like
he's building a fantasy football roster. I would assume that
(01:39):
he's going to be Cousins the starter. I would not
call it a battle, no, not yet, at least Jaden
Daniels Marcus Mariota, that's a battle. That's a battle now,
That to me is a battle because Jayden Daniels is
the number two overall pick. But there are a lot
of changes going on in Washington. They had a new staff.
Ron Rivera was no longer there. He's got to learn
the offense. Mariota a gosh, I want to say, ten
(02:01):
years in the league, he's gotta be getting close to
a twenty fourteen. I believe he was drafted twenty fifteen
something right around there. So you got a ten year
veteran who probably twenty fifteen. Okay, so he can get
you through about a month of the season and not
knowing how much of the offense he's picking up, I
would say that's a bet. I would be far less
shocked if Mariota starts than Michael Pennix.
Speaker 3 (02:22):
Mario is weird, because remember Mario, he was fiery in Oregon.
He looked at he was having fun. Now he looks
like the lights are on, but no one's home.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
I don't get what happened. He was so good at Orgon.
I don't know if it's the Titans offense that threw
him off. Maybe the Pac twelve and may would have
been the Pack ten back then, just didn't have enough speed.
Maybe he relied too much on his athleticism, which happens
a lot with college quarterbacks. But he looked like he
had it all at Orgon and is never especially the
tail end of Tennessee, ever been able to rebound since.
Speaker 3 (02:56):
Plus or minus four and a half games, everybody's healthy.
How many games does Drew Locke start for the Giants
plus or mis four and a half?
Speaker 2 (03:06):
You said if they're healthy. I think everybody's healthy. Does
plus is it over? Under? Four and a half? Gosh ah,
I will take the under. I will take the under
because if they are all healthy, the Giants would plan
on taking Jones for all sixteen games. This is not seventeen.
(03:27):
Thank you, good catch there. This is not a situation
and this is the best one I can think about
for the Giants of Davis Webb and Eli and Gino Smith.
When Eli got benched, they decided to go with Geno
Smith rather than Davis Webb to find out he's the future.
There is no benefit of you starting Drew Locke in
(03:47):
week fifteen because everyone knows it's either going to be
Daniel Jones for the future or a first round traffick
in the future. Like if you're having that conversation in
week fourteen, it should be Locker Jones. Either two things
have happened. Either the Giants have been so bad this
season they're already going for a first round draft pick,
and they think Locke's actually worse. To improve the spot
or they're in contention, and this is gonna be like
(04:08):
a Doug Flutey starting the Music City Miracle game against
the Titans, where it's like, we actually think we can
win and you're so bad we need anybody else but you,
and we can make a deal to the deadline. I
think it's more likely one than two, so I will
take the under in four and a half games. I
don't think you'll start any games if they're healthy. I think.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
I just something about the way they went after him
leads me to believe they like him, like I think
if he responds to practice better than Daniel Jones and
Dale Jones is you know, let's say he comes out
and drew Lockleys like a crazy win in week five.
I think they let him stay. I just I think
(04:48):
they'll let him stay some kind of thing like that.
But just I'm gonna put it out there just for fun.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
Hang on it, let me go back, because how you
set that up made me think, man if Lavaca changed
the name, we just lived that, didn't we in twenty
twenty three is NFL fans, not Giant fans, but NFL
fans of imagine if they have a young quarterback who
leads them to a crazy win and starts getting their
respect in the locker room and is young enough where
they have to make a decision on his future. Isn't
that sort of what happened Tommy DeVito last year? Yeah, Tommy,
(05:16):
and now he's not in the equation to take over.
But Tommy DeVito had some crazy win.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
It was injuries and everything too, but still yeah, yeah,
I don't think de Vito is in the mix.
Speaker 2 (05:26):
All right? For you? The big big ones Geno Smith
versus Sam Howell. This is the most confusing one with
any of these. Geno Smith had a complete career turnaround
when he got to Seattle. I mean, statistically, what two
to three seats. I think it was three seasons ago.
(05:46):
He was a different quarterback. He was in the playoffs mix,
They were in the playoff mix. Last season he back
at West Virginia. And every year everyone's like, well, Geno
Smith can't be in the future. Gino Smith CAMPI in there.
We just continue to write off Geno Smith because he
was so bad early in his career for both the
Chargers and the Jens that someone has to get us own.
Sam how had every opportunity in Washington. He was a
(06:08):
pick that they thought could be the future, projected early
as a first round pick, didn't get the job done
in Washington. Now, Ron Rivera didn't know how the playoffs work.
Did that ever helped Sam Howell? They brought him in
for a reason. They're not that far off. If we're
playing mad at did ratings, they're probably within two to
three points overall. Gino Smith's done nothing to lose the
job in Seattle, besides people saying his name is Geno Smith.
So I'd go Gino Smith maybe twenty twenty five Seattle.
(06:32):
In similar fashion in New York, though, finally says we
got to get a first round QB.
Speaker 3 (06:37):
I think I think Gino Smith's toast. I think it's over.
I think it's over. I think both those guys sucked.
Let's they'll go back and forth all year.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
So Gino would start week one and then he'd be terrible.
Then Hal goes in, and then Smith goes back one.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
Week two, but like week three to four or five
to six, you know stuff like that, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
Why not, they might be terrible Seattle. Like Pete Carroll's
out and Pete Carroff you start leading his numbers of
what he's doing in his NFL career, counting the time
pre like he's got a Hall of Fame career. He's
got a Hall of Fame career as the head coach.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
All right, maybe the worst team in football, the New
England Patriots. Who's gonna be starting Game one? Guys Drake
May or Jacoby Brissette.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
Jacoby Jacoby Drake May. Although it seems as if the
clips we've seen from Hard Knocks is a great football mind,
it seems as if New England's roster is going to
be so bad that they don't want to rush Drake May.
That almost as if it's it's one of these scenarios
that we see sometimes in pro sports where the GM
(07:35):
and head coach might have their careers extended by waiting
to play a young player, like, hey, we didn't play
May yet, hang on, give them time. It almost seems
like this is a long term play by Mayo and
company to Elliott Woolf is the decision maker now to
when it comes to the rosters. They don't want to
play May yet because they don't want to be exposed,
So I would go Jacoby over May. Hmm.
Speaker 3 (07:56):
It's it's such a weird team because they keep re
signing the players that made them not good before, Like
they're re signing everybody from last year, or at least
all the defense. So well, the defense is okay. But yeah, Jacoby,
he's not collegiate anymore, is he.
Speaker 2 (08:12):
He's he actually been bad in his career. He's been
like fairly average right everywhere he's gone.
Speaker 3 (08:16):
The problem with him is he doesn't lead, like he
doesn't not with his path. Like if he throws the
ball so freaking hard, he throws it where you are
and it gets there maybe a little behind you. But
if he ever learned to throw a little bit of touch,
he'd probably be a legit starter.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
I always put him with maybe a quarterback yere aback.
You know, I won't say the other quarterback because there's
another one I think here about it. I feel like
he and Gardner Minshew are very similar. Okay, there you
have to have a quarterback who's quarterback thirty four or
quarterback thirty five, Like there are thirty two positions to
start as a quarterback in the NFL. Someone's gonna be
like right there at the fringe every year. And it
(08:54):
feels like Jacoby Brisette and Gardner Minshew, are those like
thirty three and thirty four?
Speaker 3 (08:59):
See I look at a different I look at it
as there's really only like twenty four guys good enough
to start in the NFL, and then there's eight other
jobs that have to be filled. My dudes, who's just
there and that's who they are.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
The difference for you between quarterback twenty five and forty
is so it's offense, it's skilled players, it's coaching, like
there's really it's such a small fraction of a difference,
it's just.
Speaker 3 (09:22):
But between twenty four and twenty five it's the Grand Canyon.
It's a massive cravasse. All right, Well, if you want
that one, let's do it. The Las Vegas Raiders Gardner
Minshewe versus eight and O'Connell.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
It's almost the opposite of what you let off here
talking about with Daniel Jones and Drew Locke. Of there
is much more of an incentive for a O'Connell to
look good as a young player under a controllable contract
a lah Brock party in comparison to Gardner Minshew, Because
what do you do with Minshewe. Let's play this out, okay,
Let's say Garner Minshew starts Week one and he's great.
(09:56):
But then, like you got to figure out a contract
situation with a veteran gardner, Minshew is gonna make forty
million bucks, what are you gonna do with them? So
it really is difficult for the Raiders to financially to
figure out if he's good again. I'm taking the wins
and losses out of it. Obviously those are the most
part where we're talking finances here, ain't O'Connell being good
is far more beneficial for the Raiders because of the contract,
(10:17):
because of the future. And I know he's an older
rookie because he did five I think he did six
years in Purdue. Actually, gosh, no, no, he's twenty five. Okay,
Man Covid was weird. Uh, he's an older rookie. We
know that. However, he's not first round picks. So on
it has two years left after this year, exactly right.
O'Connell should be the answer here, but I'm grouping them
in with the Seahawks and Giants. O'Connell dot dot dot
(10:40):
for now until April twenty twenty five. I think O'Connell's
just gonna walk away with it. I really do.
Speaker 3 (10:45):
I think he's gonna do what he has to do.
He's not he's not gonna go out there and light
the league on fire. But he's not gonna turn the
ball over. And he's gonna do what he's asked to do,
and he's gonna get the started job. He's gonna hold
on to it. Maybe the most exciting Denver Broncos bon Knicks,
Jared Stidham, Zach Wilson. This is Bonnicks all day. By
(11:05):
the way, before you say anything, goy want Bonicks. They
like Bonix, they wanted to be Bonix.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
Go with bone Nicks. I need to hear more about that.
Why you're so confident bone Nicks. Uh.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
He a lot like Jane O'Connell. He's an older rookie. Well,
Aidan's a sophomore now, but he's older. They love him.
In the media conference, they say that Sean Payton wanted
him anyway, even though that's who was left when they
got up. Zach Wilson. The hope for Zack Wilson right
now is, hey, you've got a ton of talent, but
you've never been in a good place. So we're gonna
(11:36):
put you in a good place to see what you
can do. That's not good. That's not gonna work out.
And then Jared Stidham. They like Jared Stidham, but there's
the upside has already been achieved.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
To your credit, you last year called this, this was
one of your bold predictions that man, did you go
four for four last year in your preseason bold predictions?
Because one of your bold takes from last year, and
I think I gave you the most pushback on this,
was that Jared sit him at some point we get
snaps for the Broncos. Now we had to wait a
while before it happened, but it happened, like Jared Stidham
(12:06):
got snaps for the Broncos over Russell Wilson. It happened.
He was the guy. And this is why this one
I'm totally lost on because the easy answer, the right answer,
should be Bonicks. Bonix is a player they traded up
to get in the first round. Is you laid out there?
He's gone through the system, he knows how to learn.
He was my besides Joe Burrow in the nine years
(12:28):
I've covered the Heisman Trophy in New York City, He's
the second best conversation I've had. He told me something
that he told the entire room six different offensive coordinators
in six seasons. That's Alex Smith like in the NFL.
To be that smart, that quick and that efficient with
different people calling plays in different terminology. What that preps
him for? For Sean Payton, it should be a slam dunk,
(12:50):
no doubt, Bonix. The problem is, I feel like I
should be smarter about this because they have two veterans
and a rookie. Are they going to keep three quarterbacks
on the roster? So let's play this scenario out right.
Let's say it's Nicks, So who goes? Jared Stiddam's gone,
Zach Wilson's gone? Are they gonna try to trade one
(13:10):
of those two? If it's Nicks, you would think it's Nixon.
Stiddaman Wilson would be the odd man out. But if
it's Stidham, then it's Stidham Wilson Sometimes Nicks like the
combination of what the Bronco quarterback room looks like. I
don't know who they're gonna deal off or cut. I mean,
Wilson stinks, but why'd you go get him? If you
think Stidham's the guy, then why'd you get Nick? How
(13:32):
we got to this scenario doesn't make sense of what
the next step would be unless they're gonna keep three
quarterbacks with this new rule. If you're gonna have a
third stringer, just sit the bench and make a lot
of money. Good job to whoever that their trigger agent is.
So that's why this is hard. I didn't make my pick.
I would go Stidham. I would go Stidham and then
Nix at some point, like drake Man comes in during
the season.
Speaker 3 (13:52):
All right, I got two more for you, Minnesota Vikings
Sam Donald or JJ McCarthy Sam Donald.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
Wow, that's an easy one for me for this year. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (14:02):
All the people were just calling for JJ McCarthy's head,
like kid hasn't even had a real camp yet, Like,
calm down, let's see what he can do.
Speaker 2 (14:10):
The reason I went so heavy on Donald was because
San Francisco saw something that they never moved off of him,
and there was always threats of like Donald could take
over for party Donald the Panthers, the Jets. The Jets
were a mess with Donald. Was there the fact that
this guy is consistently a backup, He must be so
good in practice and has been below averaging the NFL.
This is Donald until he lose it. If you told
(14:32):
me of those of you thrown out there, Jacoby Donald, Stidham,
I could see Stam Donald leading the Vikings to a
strong five and twelve record, never getting benched, going five
and twelve.
Speaker 3 (14:45):
I I would like to see Sam Donald play well.
All right, the last one, this is probably my favorite one.
Justin Fields or Russell Wilson with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Russell Wilson, Yeah,
Russet to start the season. If he doesn't start, he's done. Yes,
just done in Like in Pittsford, he might be done
as a career. It might have been all Pete Carroll.
He might have been that. Look, they gave him a
(15:06):
terrible contract. Denver gave him a dumb contract. It was
pretty quickly figured out. This is an all time horrible contract.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
Seattle Fleet is the term right fleeced them when it
comes to Seattle and Denver in that move. Russell Wilson
can't be that bad, can he? I would go Russell Wilson,
justin Fields if he was here's the thing with Fields.
If he was that good, he'd be a starter somewhere.
Everybody in the NFL, all of a sudden said Nah,
it's not good enough. You just read for seven teams
of quarterback battles. Any of those guys. It feels like
(15:34):
he's better than some of them. They didn't want them, they
didn't want to give them the next contract.
Speaker 3 (15:37):
The best out of all of them, it's gonna be
Aidan O'Connell. I just I think people are sleeping on AOC. Baby,
I think you're sleeping on AOC. That's can't wait, can't wait?
Come on, football? Can we do football? Can we do
football now?
Speaker 2 (15:50):
Thursday? Texans Bears, let's go Rivers pre season football? Very
good to me? What else has been good to me?
Speaker 3 (15:58):
Maroto love Marod know got myself a beautiful twenty twenty
two Chevrolet Silverada Black Widow package from my good friends
over at Mohawks Chevrolet twenty twenty two. You say like, wow,
that's interesting. Yeah, because I had him look for it.
I had n't find me one I I could get it, afford,
get behind and be a part of. And that's what
(16:18):
they did. And then the finance department went to work
turned out for me.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
Right now.
Speaker 3 (16:21):
The best place is GMC financing, so GM financing.
Speaker 2 (16:26):
So look here I am.
Speaker 3 (16:28):
That's what you get when you go to Mak Chevrolet
with you're looking for Sedan's pickup truck, suv work truck
fleets and right now with supplier pricing. Supplier pricing, that's right,
and on most of the in stock vehicles, you can
say thousands of dollars on those Sedans, trucks, SUVs. So
make sure you get over to Mowawk Chevrolet. I just
(16:48):
off actually twelve of the Northway. Stop them by, say hello,
take a look around the lot, find the vehicle that
you're gonna love as much as I love mine. Together,
let's drive at Maak Chevrolet, where they always go out
of their way to please you all.
Speaker 2 (17:01):
Levac, it sounds like watch it happen over the weekend.
You decided to get a little social media beef, didn't you, Levak.
You thought we weren't gonna talk about this today. Oh no,
Levac and the Albany Firebirds decided to mix it up
on social media with another local team. If you haven't
heard the story, I've got some questions. You thought the
season was over, you thought the presidential addresses had ended.
(17:22):
I need to get to the bottom of why you
started a feud with an.
Speaker 3 (17:26):
I finished it next right here on Fox Sports Radio ninety.
Speaker 1 (17:31):
It's Lavak and Guz on ninety five to nine Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (17:37):
Happy Monday, everybody.
Speaker 3 (17:38):
I was.
Speaker 2 (17:38):
I was.
Speaker 3 (17:39):
I was walking here earlier today in one of our
sales reps is out there, he's like, I'm so tired. Like, dude,
you can't see you're tired on Monday, Like Monday's gotta
be the day. I'm like, you can't make your title
of Wednesday. I'm gonna on Monday. Nobody cares about your
life that much. You gotta Monday. You gotta get a
press on. I'm so jack today.
Speaker 2 (17:56):
I don't know if you could tell Dren, I've never
been like this in thirty four years of Earth. I
had something to hear, the energy my voice, though I
had way too much coffee. Today, I've told everybody who
wants to know about it. So, whoever that salesperson was,
you come find my office. Yeah, the rest of my drink,
you texted me earlier today.
Speaker 3 (18:13):
So we a couple of us from the Firebirds today,
the top level sponsors, the people who sponsored the absolute
top level. We went and gave them monograph helmets today.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
Oh very cool.
Speaker 3 (18:26):
So we did, Yes, we did pictures with Spike and
all that. So Spike is is almost full costume in
the truck. Benny Ice Nick Game Day, Nick, I see
at text from Gods, so I was like, guys, I'm
not really sure what this is gonna be, but it
could be important, so hold on. So I hit that
(18:47):
and Goz goes. I've had so much death wish coffee today.
I am so fired up. I'm shot out of a cannon. However,
I might poop my pants. You made that's too much coffee, Like,
that's too much. It's happened to everyone. Everyone's got hit
that level of if you love coffee, everyone's hit that
level of I've had too many coffees.
Speaker 2 (19:08):
Usually mostly most people think college. They're pulling all nighters.
Speaker 3 (19:10):
They're in college, and they drink that extra coffee and
they're like, oh oh, everything wants to leave.
Speaker 2 (19:16):
Jesse on Twitter said this months ago. I'm not sure
why he shared this with us, but he said to
a year, get two times a year that you can
have an accident, that's it as an adult. No, that's
that's still that's not okay. Dan agreed. I think chet Kyle,
there's too many people like to that tweet from a
few months ago, and a lot of those people I
texted today just to make sure I hit support. I
(19:36):
want to go back to anything else but this conversation.
Speaker 3 (19:39):
Yes, and by the way, no, no times a year.
Are you supposed to foul your shorts?
Speaker 2 (19:43):
Is an adult? Yes? Are you sure? Yes? No? Times
a year. If it happens, it's called an accident. You
move on.
Speaker 3 (19:50):
There's like, this is the equivalent of your shirts coming
and go. Ah you get two car accidents a year? No,
you get none.
Speaker 2 (19:57):
It happens. We're here for you, but you get none. No,
there's not.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
There's no like, oh, alright into the second half of
the year. I've got I'm just gonna let one rock.
I've got an extra boom boom to go.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
I think's a little judge of you, to be honest
that at the Jeff Levaco on Twitter, if you feel
like Levak's judging you that you can't have at least
two accidents as an adult. At Tom Guys as.
Speaker 3 (20:18):
An adult in your life, no, ye, once you get older,
are you wearing diapers?
Speaker 2 (20:23):
Sure? At Tom Gonnes t ymgo is easy. According to
Jesse and others, I think two's fine and we're not
gonna judge you about that. Let me, I'm gonna judge
every one of you. Let's get to the other topic.
I want to get to here because I tease this
a little bit going into it. I got something a gift,
a surprise over the weekend that I didn't think I
could get and you, my friend, gave me that gift,
(20:45):
and I thank you for that. You know, where's our
guy Jamal? Because Jamal was the king of this Jamal love?
Speaker 3 (20:51):
Where is Jamal? By the way, I meant the Knicks
riadly get good? Did Jamal pass out? The Knicks got good?
And Jamal couldn't take it.
Speaker 2 (20:59):
He just dropped. Jamal all exploded. We love Jamal. He's
one of our active people across social media, the.
Speaker 3 (21:03):
Point guard for the Lavagangaza's Northeastern and Southwest School of
Technology of the Greater Mid Country Region.
Speaker 2 (21:12):
If we ever get a bus trip or a road trip,
Jamal has a seat on the bus. Him and Chef Mike.
We're just saying, those are the rules out of the gates.
So I don't know for a low to say that,
but those two have permanent seats on the bus for
things they've accomplished in the best. But anyways, Jamal had
thought about this. He loved when we saw people get
into Twitter beefs, social media beefs, tweets. Levac, you saw
(21:33):
something on social media that put you in. All the Firebirds,
the only Firebirds, got into a social media beef with
another local team. Why don't you take it from here
because it seems like you were here. It seems like
you were offended by something that happened. And I think
you are in the right on this, and I saw
(21:53):
a lot of people respond your social media posts. I
feel like when you present this information publicly, no one
gonna criticize how you handled it or the fires. I
could be wrong, but let's if you don't mind dive
into this a little bit. The tweet going on between
the Firebirds and another local team. Uh, you don't want
to know? Maybe things have changed this weekend. No, there's
(22:18):
you know what I'd like to know? If everybody feels
like I handled it appropriately? How's that? I like that?
I like that? No judging? So I wake up? It
was was it Saturday? It might have been Saturday? Yeah, Saturday.
Speaker 3 (22:33):
And I see that our guy Benny Ice ben Nelson
for the Firebirds did a really cool Capital Region Olympic
connections posts. He went and found all the people that
are that are participating in the Olympics that are from
the Capitol Region, put you know, firebirds, water water marks
(22:57):
on everything, and it looked really good, a really good,
nice little post. And then Ben text me a little
bit later and goes, am, I okay to be upset
about this, and so I opened it. Another local team
did the exact same post. The only thing is they
(23:18):
took off all of our logos and put theirs over
it and didn't say anything. So I the first thing
I did, in an attempt to just kind of diffuse
the situation was I went over to the FireWolves page.
Speaker 2 (23:36):
I found the post fire Wolf's page. Yep, okay, as
long as I don't people get confused. He knows what
he's saying here Firewolf's page.
Speaker 3 (23:44):
So I wrote, congratulations, this all looks very familiar dot
dot dot, to which someone else reached out to me
and went I noticed this earlier. I thought Ben worked
for both teams. He wasn't question mark. I was like,
he'd be more than happy to help out, but no
one asked. So then that person will call him Ryan
(24:06):
because that's his name, commented stealing graphics I see on
the firewalls page. And nothing, no comment, no they nothing,
So I ken was I feel a little salty, So
I posted my guy, Ben Nelson is so good. Everyone
(24:29):
wants to do what he does. With the side by
side that showed that. We posted it two hours before
they posted it.
Speaker 2 (24:35):
Still nothing, nothing, nothing at all.
Speaker 3 (24:39):
Then we were at they both both squads were at
Dick Sporting Goods for the World of Sport thing they
do with the kids. They posted pictures of us together.
No one says, hey, sorry, no one says oh parallel thinking.
Speaker 2 (24:56):
No nothing.
Speaker 3 (24:57):
Now again, here's my here's my feeling on all of this.
And I said to Ben, did they ask you for help?
Because it's okay if they because we all get behind.
We are, we're roommates, we're friends, we work together. We
had Alfie their mascot at our game. We're gonna put
Spike at their games. We're gonna you know, we're gonna
work together. We're friends. He's no, no one said anything
(25:19):
to me. I go, how about since I posted that stuff?
He goes, no one has said anything. I was like,
that's just that's not okay. That's just not okay. You
need to be shamed for stealing what he did, doing
exact same thing and not like. And again, if they
just reached out or share it ours, if they reached
(25:40):
out and said, hey, we're way behind, two of our
interns are out whatever, can we just copy and paste,
we would have said yes. We had one hundred percent
said yes, but no, that's so whoever did that? And again,
we share almost the entire fan base like all their fans.
Speaker 2 (25:57):
Football is a little more popular this market. That's not
talking out of school.
Speaker 3 (26:00):
Well, we have more people on our media, our social media, almost.
Speaker 2 (26:04):
All of theirs are on ours. Of all the teams
to steal from all you had to do for those
who aren't on Twitter, for those who don't know how
the site works, and I know there's some people who
listen to the show who aren't on social media. On
X on Twitter, you could hit a button called the
retweet where you just take the post and you could see, hey,
this was posted by the Albany Firebirds. Here's their post.
(26:27):
We agree, we can see, we want to share, so
the Albany Firebirds get credit, and you whatever platform you're on,
the Albany Firewalls get credit, no harm, no foul. There's
buttons on Facebook and Instagram. You here to share. Hey,
this is a great post. We want to share this
post where neighbors where roommates. Let's share this stuff together.
Or like you said, hey, those graphics are awesome. Man,
(26:49):
do you mind if we just grab those graphics and
tag you guys? Hey we saw the Albany firebird post.
We want to share in the message Coe Team USA
takes thirty seconds in any of those things would have
been a ri with us. You gotta do is do that.
There's no need to steal somebody's work. They put into it. Now,
there are weird media etiquette rules that I think I'm
gonna try to give the firewalls the benefit of the
(27:10):
doubt here. I don't think I should, but I'm going
to that. Maybe he said, hey, this is in public forum,
and when it enters a public forum, anybody can use it.
No no, no, like no no no. But it's but
it's their graphic, Like hey, and it's thirteam. You know,
if it was some random team in Ohio, you think
you can get away with it. Okay, if it's some
random team in Texas, still you should cite them and
(27:32):
red it, but don't. Don't do it. You're in the
same market doing the same thing with it. You don't
think anybody's gonna notice. The team president's on a weekly
radio show, daily radio show on weekdays. You don't think
he's gonna notice. Like, come on, FireWolves, Like, let me
tell you start happing. When I moved out here in
all buty, this happened to me. So we I don't
mind saying the school, right we You and I would
(27:53):
be on emails about Sienna Sports. So Mike Demos, who
is the SID, would send us press releases. So for
those who don't work in media, like when you get
a press release, the goal of a press release is
to be shared. Hey, I'm sitting on a press release.
Please share this with your host, your news forums. What
we're putting out a statement about something that happened. Please
(28:14):
share this so we get coverage to this. So what
I started to do is like, oh, perfect, I gotta
write a dumb amount of articles a day. I'm gonna
share the press releases. And they got all worked up.
They're like, WHOA tell your guy gos squitch, stop sharing
our press releases. Like it's totally well, you gave me it.
You gave me a press release to share, so I
(28:34):
feel like that's totally different too. If you give someone
something to share and giving permission to media outlets to
take this information and do what you will with it,
that might be allowed. Not I'm gonna throw something on
the social media. I'm gonna wash away the water marks
and then copy and paste it on ours like we
made the graphics. Come on, man, if the post is
still up, yeah, oh my gosh, no comment. Didn't even
(28:57):
hide my comment. Gosh, wolves, come on man, just retweet
the firebirds. That's all like that, Because here's why we're
addressing this too, And I'm glad you gave this. I'm
glad we're both doing this because if it's not a
dressed now, it will keep happening. Like Lec, this is
like in the summer, like you said, maybe some people
are out of town. Maybe someone made an honest, genuine mistake.
(29:18):
I don't think so like that. It could happen again.
It could happen about you know, camp opening, It could
happen about school going back in session, Halloween like this
could happen again. Just don't don't steal somebody's work, that's all.
Speaker 3 (29:31):
It's it. Yeah, I just and I know how hard
Ben works and what a good job he does, So
that does it? Does it bothered it? It bothers me.
But I know, like here's the worst part. The people
that I know from over there, they would never do never.
So it's somebody. It's either an intern a social media
guy who just doesn't respect us. I guess I don't know,
(29:53):
but it's and again it it could have been so
easily avoided.
Speaker 2 (29:59):
Hey can I do it? Sure? Go ahead? Hey, Hey,
what do you want me to do to share this? Just?
You know, Hey, just credit Ben? You know I don't, don't.
You don't have to write us you should.
Speaker 3 (30:09):
But if you, for whatever reason you want to write
another sports team on there, Hey thanks Ben Nelson for
a great post.
Speaker 2 (30:15):
Whatever it takes ten seconts. If you're writing digital content,
you know easy it is to drop a link to
a story and then people can go to the link.
There's a reason. As much as our guy mad on
Twitter would disagree with this tick, there actually is a
reason I don't play as much sound you know Fox
Sports Radio. Hey, No, that's not it's not We had
a different way in different places to grab sound that
(30:38):
you had clearance to use. I don't like taking sound
from people unless I get clearance from people, rather than
it's being shipped. Let me say it like you say it. Yeah.
But like sometimes it's like, hey, can I use this,
they'll say no, hey no. Usually it'll always be a yes,
but if like we work for Fox and it's CBS
or ESPN, sometimes they'll block it and say no.
Speaker 3 (30:57):
So, I mean, I always like to do the that's
from blah blah blah blah blah, and then they go, hey,
don't use that. Hey, sorry, I won't do it again.
But you know, it's easier to ask forgiven this information,
they could have even asked forgiveness.
Speaker 2 (31:15):
Hey, sorry, we were in a hurry. I told so
and so to ask you. They didn't. Okay, hey we're sorry.
Hey cool, all right, that's cool. Take the tweet down.
Yeah no, I don't want to take you down. If
CBS or abstre NBC we had an interview with coach
Ware and they grabbed the audio, I would ask, hey,
can you just tag us or the same thing, flip
first bout of you? It was the best at this,
Hey can you chet Davis, fine at it, Chris, but
(31:36):
Roger like that's all.
Speaker 3 (31:37):
Some level of respect, that's all this Again, Ben works
too hard to not get credit for what he's doing.
You know, maybe maybe throw Ben a called Bucks, that
would be nice.
Speaker 2 (31:46):
Do you want to get wild and do this instead
you just start copying Firewolf Bust.
Speaker 3 (31:55):
I was thinking about it. I was thinking about it.
Ben's poster a better no offense. That's why you took his.
They're better. You know, they do a lot of great things.
It's and again, I know, I know it's not I
know it's not like. There's no way Chris Prekan knows
(32:16):
this is happening. The King President, there's no way. If
I call him right now, he'll lose his mind. I
wasn't gonna talk about on the show. You did it,
so I.
Speaker 2 (32:24):
Did want to do it, but no, it's just it's
just it's just silly.
Speaker 3 (32:29):
It's just silly. It's just I got no problem helping.
We're roommates, we work in the same building.
Speaker 2 (32:34):
You know you need help. Let us know. We'll help
you out.
Speaker 3 (32:37):
But don't don't just take Ben's stuff and then act
like you never saw it so and then ignore me
when I mock you when I passively, passive, aggressively come
after you, how dare you?
Speaker 2 (32:49):
How dare you? All right? That's that's that I can't.
I kind of feel bad. Why what?
Speaker 3 (32:56):
Well?
Speaker 2 (32:56):
Back, you know what? We don't have to keep talking
about we did.
Speaker 3 (33:00):
I know that the people in charge are good People's somebody,
somebody on a lower level, lower wrong of the or
the organization did something stupid and I want I want
I was sorry, No, look, I want to.
Speaker 2 (33:12):
I want to. I want to forgiveness, gift. We aren't insulting,
we're not being mean, we're not taking, We're just saying, hey,
just just tell people, that's all. Stay in. And I
even told a story when I did it before. It's
an honest mistake. Maybe they just saw like, oh, we
could use it. Just ask you stopped when they said
something to you, of course I did. I'm like, wow,
I disagree with what you guys are thinking right now.
I'm trying to promote you guys. But that's fine. That's
(33:34):
about Lillian David fin Jueler's absolutely great things going up
with Lillian. David Fanjeulier actually was up north this weekend. Lovak,
I was up at a Hey I say the business
Dinosaur Roar Valley up in Link, George, not too far
away from Wilton, New York. Lillian David Fine Jeelers can
help you this summer weekend to find the perfect gift
for her. Maybe you're celebrating that anniversary coming up. My
wonderful sister and her husband are born married in August.
(33:58):
Their son was born in August. That's he's a mistake there,
just like my boy in my anniversary of the same day.
Lillian David find Juliers can help you celebrate that anniversary,
that birthday, that push gift, whatever it might be. See,
that's a lot of stuff going on in August, and
maybe you're like me. You have bursts and anniversaries and
weddings and everything else going on at the same time.
Stop it and say hello to Alyssa or Tammy or
g or David who can help you find the gift
(34:19):
that works for her, fits your budget, and you're gonna
get compliments on for years to come. Don't forget, by
the way, you can always got their Facebook page for
the selection. And it's a family owned and operated business,
so continue to support great businesses like that. It's Lillian
David find Juelier's if you're heading north this summer, if
you're coming traveling in from wherever you're listening on the
iHeart app, make sure to make that a part of
your plans to stop and say, hey, I always hear
(34:41):
the fat guy's talking about you. Love to take care
of her, whoever her is, girlfriend, fiance, wife, and Lillian dah.
Speaker 3 (34:48):
Take care of him. He needs to be taken care
of as well. That's what I think. I also think
the dump is coming up next. I don't know why
I'm talking like the invaders from Accuatin hunger for us.
Speaker 2 (35:00):
I want to take on something you did over the
weekend already. What else are you gonna helpt me for?
And I also needs your advice about single women and dating.
Are they hot?
Speaker 1 (35:11):
I'll do them us On ninety five nine Fox Sports Radio,
time for the Dump.
Speaker 3 (35:17):
Line from the GT Toys at Studios That Toys with
a Z and Real Quick, Ghosty Dead Bool Wolverine Now
if your kid, not if your kid, because it's it's
it's raunchy, but it's hysterical. It was the number one
selling R rated movie as of Saturday night. Saturday Night
(35:42):
during San Diego Konacon they announced it was the number
one all time selling rated R movie in box office history,
and then I contributed Sunday Morning.
Speaker 2 (35:51):
So I saw you posted that on social media that
you were going. I know you talked about a little
bit on Friday Show. I'm surprised we waited till here
because I know you were fired up about it. You
know what, I don't think it is a spoiler, but
I want more out of your Deadpool Wolverine Take three
two one? How good was it? Was? It? Really good?
Was it okay? Like, give me a full review of
your thoughts on the movie here? How about this? Everybody
(36:15):
who likes Deadpool, this is the perfect Deadpool movie.
Speaker 3 (36:19):
Like, the humor was perfect. The way they did it
was great. Hugh Jackman was maybe the best Wolverine he's been.
The the oh Poop movement moments, there was a lot
of them. It was cool man like, you don't have
to be like a diehard comic guy to get it.
But at the same time, being somebody who's read a
lot of stuff or seen or whatever, I was, I
(36:42):
was thrilled it was.
Speaker 2 (36:43):
It was great.
Speaker 3 (36:44):
Laughed out loud so many times, like Easter eggs Easter
eggs have nothing to do with comics.
Speaker 2 (36:52):
Like, I'll put this one out there for you.
Speaker 3 (36:55):
Let me know when you find the planes, trains, and
automobile Easter egg because it's in the movie.
Speaker 2 (36:59):
I saw it, so like.
Speaker 3 (37:01):
It's it's just it's if you're a it's a film
fan or fun fan. Movie, it's just it's not too long,
it's it's just good. It's just good all the way through.
Speaker 2 (37:10):
That is a big compliment from you because you are
a fan of superhero, Marvel comic book themed stuff. So
if anybody, I think you'd be a tougher judge on
some of this. Our guy Doug Outy on wgy R
sister station, he said this to me a few months ago,
and I've really never pushed him on this. I'm just
gonna let him have this. W he said. At one
point in his career, when he was doing the television side,
(37:31):
he had to watch a ton of movies for prepping
for the pop culture entertainment side of the gig. He
said his movie critics skills were up there with anybody.
I was like, I can't dispute it, but I'm gonna
let you. He loved it. He loved that and he
loved Twisters, And I'm like, wow, If Doug is giving
these compliments and Levac is giving these compliments about how
good Deadpool was, this must be a phenomenal movie.
Speaker 3 (37:51):
The jokes are so fat, like I might watch it again,
Like I'm gonna wag I'm not gonna pay again because
it's twenty bucks a person that's without popcorn. So obviously
it's way more than that because i'd pop But the
the amount of things that got that probably got by me,
Like some of the jokes, Oh my god, Like it's
the some of the things that are said, I'm so
(38:12):
mad I didn't say them first. But there's like like
the the easter eggs, the comments, the things that the
so like the reason Deadpool is so many people's favorite
is he has he knows he's a comic. He's the
only one in the entire Marvel universe who's aware of
the fact that he's a comic book. So that makes
him like so like that's why he can break the
(38:32):
fourth wall and turn around and talk to you like
Ferris Bueler, like he can just but when he does
it in this one, it's it's even funnier, like there's
a point where he like, we'll just say he recognizes
the situation and goes so overboard to us the fans,
it's hysterical.
Speaker 2 (38:49):
It's just it was.
Speaker 3 (38:50):
It's really good, Ryan Rends hysterical. The bromance with Hugh
Jackman is needed to be in the movies. The amount
of oh poop moments I probably had like six or
seven minimum.
Speaker 2 (39:03):
This is the perfect conversation for the dump because this
has been dominating headlines, and it also leads to a
question I thought I was gonna ask you earlier in
the show, but this is why we do the dump,
just in case we didn't have opportunities to do it.
Walk me through what broke Twitter yesterday about Robert downing
Junior and okay, okay, so for those who didn't see this,
he is now doctor dooming. It was pretty cool how
(39:25):
they did it, like.
Speaker 3 (39:26):
They San Diego comic coms going on right now, like
Nerd Mecca right like Radio Row for comics. So all
the movies you're being talked about, all all the video games,
everything's going on right now in San Diego. Well, actually
I think it's done. So hall h is where Marvel
and Disney do theirs. So they did the Thunderbolts movie.
(39:48):
They did Fantastic four movie. So when they do the
Fantastic Four movie, they first they tease you and tell
you that the guys aren't the cast isn't there cast
shows up, But then they proceed. They get done with
that and they bring out the two brothers there that
can never remember their freaking name. No, no, the directors
(40:09):
who direct the Avengers, Yeah, look.
Speaker 2 (40:13):
It up, it's me. It's not important.
Speaker 3 (40:16):
So they come out and they start talking about like,
we didn't think we were making more Avengers whatever. So
the big news is that Avenger secret War is going
to happen. But that's but they're like, we have to
make a movie first, so they're gonna make It's called
Avengers Doom Day.
Speaker 2 (40:29):
Dooms Doom Day.
Speaker 3 (40:31):
So it's when Doctor Doom comes out and they're like,
they've got like, I don't know, fifty dudes dressed up
like Doctor Doom behind them, and then they go but
only one actor could blah blah blah blah blah blah,
and uplooks a different one and he opens everything up,
pulls the mask off. It's Robert Downey JUNR. So Robert
Downey Jr. Is now was iron Man will be Doctor Doom.
Speaker 2 (40:54):
The way they did it looked really cool. The pop
I'll do a pro wrest in your reference. The pop
was incredible. Here's what I'm a little confused by. And
I can't tell if this question is gonna make me
sound like an adult or a ten year old. I
really don't know, So I asked this naively. He's not
iron Man Doctor Doom right, Like, he's not there.
Speaker 3 (41:13):
This is gonna be for some some some multiverse jackanery
is gonna be going on here.
Speaker 2 (41:18):
Okay, okay, let me let me simplify my question more So,
he played iron Man, right, we all know him as
iron Man. And I know like other characters have shifted actors.
I believe, like Ruffalo and Ed Norton played Hull. They
make a lot of fun of that in Deadpool Wolverine. Okay,
about actors who used to play different It's I didn't
(41:39):
even know that. I didn't eve see the movie. Look
at that. So okay, let me sum this up right,
he is not iron Man. Doctor Doom is not iron
Like they could not find another human being on planet. Like,
That's why I'm getting confused by like I feel like
people would be disappointed, like we couldn't find another human,
we couldn't find another actor to not be this person,
(41:59):
like we're just going to recycle him again. I guess
I'm lacking the understanding of why people are excited about
this when it's someone they already know from the universe.
Speaker 3 (42:07):
Because he's gonna do it perfect, Okay, But also so
they're doing the multiverse now like this, this whole thing
is all this multiverse saga. So basically, what I assume
is going to happen is that in one of the multiverse,
one of the realities, one of the Earth's Earth two
thousand and four, whatever the hell it is, Tony Stark
(42:28):
becomes doctor Doom instead of Environment is what I assume. Okay,
and I know, and then I somebody one of the videos,
one of the YouTube channels I frequent, there's there is
a there is a comic line, a storyline where that happens.
Speaker 2 (42:46):
Okay, that actually makes so Noah, get why people are excited. Okay,
That's all I needed to be explained.
Speaker 3 (42:50):
But it also could mean that if you're able to
do things just right, who knows, maybe you can turn
him into your Tony Stark. I don't know that there's
a lot of There's a lot to do there, There's
a lot going on.
Speaker 2 (42:59):
I've got two stories what I could keep for later
in the week and what I can do right now.
One involves my sister in laws. One involves the future
of college athletics. I feel like both are ever green
stories here for the dump.
Speaker 3 (43:10):
Do you want both? Do you want one? I'm very
curious about the sistern laws. Okay, for a lot of reasons.
Speaker 2 (43:15):
I'm gonna keep that college storyline for later this week
because it might be a little lighter than later. Okay,
So both of my sister in laws live in Albany.
I actually say three of my stern laws live in Albany.
One lives in Colorado. So two of them are single
right now, ones in her thirties, ones in her late twenties.
They are both single and ready to mingle. There's an event,
and I'm not gonna give them too much of a
(43:36):
promotion here, but there is an event speed dating ways
in which you can interact with other single men, coming
up in August. So I thought it'd be fun to
like share that. So I did it the right way,
sent the text to my wife, Hey, don't you think
these two would be great for this? She said, absolutely,
send that to them. One hasn't responded yet. The other
one wrote by and this is my nightmare. So, uh,
(43:59):
how do I code this as well? I like, I'm
being very gentle and delicate on the final segment of
the show up Monday, just like very tepid. Uh, you've
had an interaction with them before. This group of people
who finds ways in which other people can mingle and
find ways. They've created a business about that. Don't you
think this is the best way? Like, if you're a
single person in your late twenties and thirties, events like this,
(44:21):
like I don't know, I'm honestly asking, like jo, wait,
what are we doing? What are they so she would
do like a speed dating like romance try to find
your man and a local establishment here in Albany, Like
if you're single looking for somebody, I feel like people
would always hop on these things, Like I like, Hey,
I'm trying to find somebody to start a relationship with.
Someone's giving me an opportunity to start a relationship with somebody.
I'm gonna hop on that. Am I being naive? As
(44:43):
someone who's been in a relationship for so long, like, hey, gods,
it's not that simple, Like you just don't show it
and be like date me, date me, Like it comes
off as desperate. I don't know. I honestly don't know.
Speaker 3 (44:52):
My opinion of those things has always been if you
had the guts to go out and meet people in
the first place, you'd probably already be dating someone. So
like most of these people, I think that you're trying
to get to go to these things. Aren't going to
go to these things. That's what I think.
Speaker 2 (45:08):
So let's do this comparison, right, You know how you
have like job fairs. Yeah, some people don't want to
ever be seen in a job fair because they feel like, oh,
I'm unhappy with my job, or I'm unemployed, or I
feel like I need to go to this place where
it's should be easy to get hired, and I might
not get So some people never want to be seen
in a job fair. Is that the comparison here to
(45:29):
dating situations like if you're single and you go to like,
oh god, they've gone to a speed dating competition. Oh god,
they're with other singles.
Speaker 3 (45:38):
I was thinking more of those, like I'm gonna go
to this speed dating thing. This is gonna be great
on Tuesday on Wednesday. Oh no, that thing is Thursday
on Thursday. I'm not going. I'm not going out. Why
would not go there? I think people are more afraid
to go meet people. My hope is they do it
because there's singles can mentions every day.
Speaker 2 (45:57):
They're called bars. If you want to be and they
both want to be in a relationship, there's nothing wrong
with that. Some people want to be in a relationship.
Some people you're trying to marry them off. No, no, no,
that's not it. That's not I feel like I'm doing
a nice thing, like, hey, there's an event going on locally,
this could be cool. You both recently moved to the
area within the last two years. One is in their
(46:19):

I'm like, wow, I know some people Leavak and I

I know one person who's a part of this thing.
I'm like, wow, it's to where we live. Oh that
was yeah, Oh that sucks. They don't go. Oh gosh,
those people are stupid. That was like someone was going
to the rim. That was a quick, like tumble like rejection.
(47:09):
I didn't realize what you were talking about. I thought
I coated it well enough, but I had to gosh,
those guys are losers. I thought you had a good
interaction with one of them.
Speaker 3 (47:20):

saying them, if you want to date my sister in laws,

dating game. No no, no, or not do it? No no, no.
They don't get the jump the line for the Fachelor.
You've been trying to get the Bacheler going. They don't
get the jump the line. Maybe they could be contest

I'm all imagine if they like start hating each other
because they can't get my they can't get my affection.

they they let's see what happens. One of the two
would be excited about.
Speaker 2 (49:08):
That was that I feel like one of the two
is accepted, like one of her things for God she
looks for is very rich. I was like, gosh, don't
say that to people. Don't say that out loud, don't
don't do that. That's all right, No, it's not, it's not.
It's not as long as you know, as long as

if you put two and two together, if you follow
social media, might know. We just got to find an
out liquord. That's all. We got to find what we're
plugging into, and I think we'll be fine.

Well, so I just got to make sure we have
permission to be there. Oh, because it's before the event.
Oh I forgot about that. Yeah, that's the that's the
hard part, all right. A lot of the rest of
this stuff I feel like I can. I can usually
mcguiver around, but that part is usually tough. I've got
a tickle. This is a tickle in my throat. It's
a tickle. It's causing me to cough a lot. So
