eighty ninety five point nine.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Fact, it's Lavack and Guzz on ninety five nine Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (00:13):
Live from the GT Toys Studio. That's Toys with a Z.
It is the back guys. How you doing on this
Thursday A They're known the trade deadline is rapidly approaching
for Major League Baseball, and I think I'm not over
selling this when I tell you the Yankees have fixed
all their woes that fast. Yeah, well, on quick trade

(00:34):
couple of minor league prospects for Mark Lighter, junior relief
pitcher from the Chicago Cubs, nephew of the great Al Lighter,
junior to the less great major League baseball player Mark Lighter,
big brother to Jack Lighter, who was a big early
round pick for the Rangers. The thirty three year old

(00:58):
bullpen arm to save the day. You're welcome everyone. It's
good we don't have to trade anymore. Deadline's over.

Speaker 4 (01:06):
What you're telling me, Levank is that the New York
Yankees have made a move with someone with some Ajor
League Baseball blooding them. Yeah, but potentially if we did
a power rankings of best Lighters in baseball.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
This could be Lighter number four. He might. I think
right now he's probably two, but his brother's gonna go
past him. Yeah, I think, you know, like right now
he's pitching well. I watched an interview with him earlier
in the year with actual outlider and the rest of
the MLB network staff asking him questions, and he was like, listen,

(01:39):
you know, I feel like I'm getting better. It's a
great opportunity here in Chicago. My my uncle, my dad
said they got stronger in their thirties. So he's I
think it's I'm I'm mocking it because I'm a jerk.
But it's a good pick up. The bullpen gets some
some some addition to it. It helps if the bats

(02:00):
continue to do what they've been doing recently. It's it's
a great pickup. When you put together everything they've done
this this trade period, it's not bad. Jazz Chisholm. Mark
Lighter Junior.

Speaker 4 (02:18):
Ye know, he's fourth in my later list. For those
who wanted the list, I go I go at Later one. Yep,
Mark Later Senior two. I'm gonna give I don't remember.
Mark Letter Senior in pretty good career, not ten years
in the league, A Mark later senior two Jack later
because of the potential prospect managed him in a oh,

(02:40):
Kumar Rocker and the Rangers organization. So have those two
battles back and forth. Made his major league debut this season,
second overall Picklovac in twenty twenty one.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
Yeah, but you know what Mark later get you fired? Yeah,
and donet poop yet. So so he's he has to
rank above him at this point, right, He's not better
than him at this.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
Not on God's power rankings. As I referd to myself
in the third person. He's fourth in the lighter list.
But he could be an armed Look, I can't, I
can't have. I got a hand of it both ways.
If we're gonna complain about the Yankees going out getting
an arm, when you said the Yankees needing arm, and
they got an arm, all right, they feel like they can.
Here's what Brian Cashman has done. And you just said
the word potential. He's going after two players that have potential.

(03:20):
If an uncle and a dad and a cousin are
top tier major league baseball players, and we're talking about
top tier when you have that long of a career
and the second overall pick We've got potential here. Jazz,
he's got potential. He hasn't been playing well in twenty
twenty four, but if he's really good, the ceiling's high.
That's what baseball evaluators always talking about. If Mark Laer

(03:43):
Junior and Jazz Chisholm are good, then this is the
boost that the Yankees need. That's what Cashman's going on.
Guys who have a high ceiling who can give you
the boost that they need. That's that's the hope, rather
than a rundown veteran or a guy that nobody wants
or a guy that somebody feels like in the last
leg of their career. To Ryan Cashman's credit, we're going
after players that we think will be better in twenty

(04:04):
twenty five or September October than they are in June
and July.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
I hate that I'm gonna do this. Is it? Is
it World Series or bust this year for the Yankees
because of jan Soda. If you're not gonna are you
gonna pay Wan Soto five hundred million dollars when Judge
is making three hundred when everybody else you know, can

(04:29):
you pay him five hundred when it's the player who's
actually better than and Judge's making three hundred and Garrett
Cole's making three hundred and John Hollistans still got two
hundred something, and so like, is Sodo a rental? Like?
Is this it? Like you have to win with Soto
this year because he probably isn't gonna be here next year. Oh,
I see what you're doing here now? Okay? Because you

(04:49):
felt like what you like? This is your kind of radio?
Yes it is.

Speaker 4 (04:53):
It was a Levak later scenario. Threw me a little
pitch with a little bit of movement at the end.
They're like, Okay, Levac, I feel like it is really
asking me, is it when or disappointment for the Yankees?
But I feel like I've decoded you. I feel like
I fouled that off. I didn't hit it yet, but
I filed off what you're really pitching to me?

Speaker 3 (05:07):
Here?

Speaker 4 (05:08):
Are you really asking? Do the Yankees trade soda? I
think that's what you really No, No, it's not because
I think he's here for the year. Because if he's
gone in twenty twenty five and you get nothing out
of him, you can get far more better prospects and
arms and have a better future set of if you're like, Okay,
we are not in the spot is the New York
Yankee organization where we think we're the best team in

(05:28):
the American League or Major League Baseball. However, we have
a trade piece that we're not going to pay anyways,
that we get far more for than the fourth best
laer and a guy who's hitting two fifteen for the Marlins.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
I think that if they trade, they can't trade Soda.
They have to still try to sign him. But do
you think they'll get him? Well, they get it done,
I guess by the way the Yankees sent Caleb Ferguson
to the Astros. I don't know the rest of the
details yet, Caleb.

Speaker 4 (05:57):
I barely knew you until thirty seven seconds ago, and
now I know who you are.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
I understand, Okay, I know I'm sinking. I'm just saying,
like you you you brought in Sodo. He's playing for
this year. He's played, he's played very well, a little
little less well since he got here that that injury.
Do you have to make the moves? Is it? Is
it win now for the Yankees? Do you have to
make whatever moves you need to make to win the

(06:25):
World Series right now? Because you may or may not.
You you because you will not have Sodo next year.

Speaker 4 (06:30):
This is uh, Yes, you have to be active because
you believe this roster with Sodo potentially not in the
roster next year, may be a worse roster. And that's
what not what Yankees want to hear. Yankee fans want
to hear because finding a prospect or a player likes
Sodo in free agency next season is not likely going
to be there. You have to make a move to
get somebody likes Sodo. So yes, the pressure to get
something done in comparison other franchise is always the highest

(06:53):
when it comes to the Yankees, and even more so
this season with the un unclear we'll call it future
of Soto's decision coming in twenty twenty five. There are
sometimes I wish we had a camera here in studio.
Today is one of those days because Mahala back was
talking and maybe somebody picked it up. If you have
a good year, I could almost see the frustration on

(07:13):
your face where you're like, come on.

Speaker 3 (07:15):
Please, could you just can you put me at easier?

Speaker 4 (07:17):
As a Yankee fan, I could see you almost took
off your.

Speaker 3 (07:21):
House back right, I mean, god like That's the thing
is he's gonna get so much money, they still get
the job done right, They get him back if they
want him.

Speaker 4 (07:35):
Depends on how much money Soto draws in frames the
upcoming because if the Yankees, it's very similar to the
Judge scenario that played out a few years ago. The
easy answer would be the Yankees are gonna get him.
That's okay, the Yanks are gonna because nobody else want
to saying. But I remember these conversations with Judge. Is
that when Judge was going for the American League single
season home run record and the Yankees were in contention

(07:57):
for the World Series. As good as it was that
the Yankees is a tea. We're succeeding in Judges having the
best season of his career. Every time the ball flew
over the fence, the price tank ching Chi ching. So
Soto's in that same boat every single time Soto plays,
continues to go higher and higher and hire and may
make it more difficult. But who else is the suitor?
Who else is the contender? The Mets, the Padreins, the Dodgers.

(08:19):
Who else would pay Soto? If it's not the Yankees?
Are are they like athletic directors in college sports. Are
they just competing against themselves for the high deal.

Speaker 3 (08:28):
Probably Caleb Ferguson goes to the Astros and the Yankees
get a minor league and international pool money. So there
you go. That's what's that's these are the trades that
you don't care about. And then all of a sudden,
Jason Domingez or somebody like him is available in the
international market and now you've got the money, will get him.

(08:51):
Yamamoto is out there and you actually this time you
bring him in because you've got more international money than Moodel's. Okay,
I don't know, man, that just breaks just like the
thought of a lot like these trades, jazzism, that's I
think that's that's a potential piece for years to come.
Like He's he's a kid with great energy, he's young.

(09:14):
People love him. Jeter loves him, Sabbathia loves him. You
bring a guy like that in, the team gets better.
It's you know, for for a long term. That's that's
kind of exciting. It's not super exciting, but it's exciting.
You know, Mark Lighter Junior, that's a guy where you're
watching it and you're you're hoping, like, Okay, is that
is that a Graham Lloyd? Is that a David Robertson?

(09:36):
Is that is that a guy who's gonna come out
there and out of the bullpen and you don't even
realize right now how important he's gonna be. That's what
you're hoping. The Caleb Ferguson deal. That's a future deal,
that's not a now deal. So like you sit here
and you go, you were the best team in baseball
until you weren't. Then you were the worst team in baseball,
hopefully until you weren't. Right now, Red Sox first game

(10:00):
against Phillies look very good? Can he keep that up?
Six to forty tight? We'll find out. Do you need
to do something between in the next you know, to
almost three hours to guarantee that you're a better team
because you need to strike while you have won Soto,
because you may or may not have next year. And again,

(10:22):
I believe that if they decide we want him, we're
gonna pay him whatever they can. They can do that.
But if you pay him five hundred, do you have
to redo Judges deal?

Speaker 4 (10:33):
Brian Cashman, those questions, Jesus asked. He continues to wonder
right now, And I wonder those questions too as an
oriel fan, and the Orioles being in contention, have just
a half game lead on the New York Yankees and
the American League East Yankee fan, and I guess Levac
would be the voice of a Yankee fan with this question.

Speaker 3 (10:48):
I'm about to ask if.

Speaker 4 (10:50):
It is a four game lead for the New York
Yankees here on July thirtieth, or six game lead, would
the team still be active? Would the conversation be do
they have to catch Cleveland? Are they gonna get the
Boogeyman again in the postseason? That's been the Houston Astros.
Is Baltimore gonna catch him somehow? Would this conversation be
any different if it was a four game lead, a

(11:11):
six game lead, or trailing the Baltimorrow's. Are Yankee fans
always gonna hit the end of July and say something's
wrong with the team. The team's not one hundred and
ten and oh uh oh, now we have to do it?
Is the Sodo thing hanging over it? I would say
of the storylines we've covered for the Yankees, because they've
always been active to the deadline, whether it's selling players
off or getting players. The Sodo thing is a huge

(11:33):
factor in what they decided to do. The Soto situation
is do we just bring in prospect? What about labor?

Speaker 3 (11:40):
You know? I feel like we must forgot about labor.

Speaker 4 (11:42):
Like I've heard a lot of people say it's a
done deal, Glaber's got to go, Like yeah, if he's
not gonna change positions, I believe that was I mean
tons of people across social media, to talking heads, to
former players that said, okay, so Glaber Torres is playing
terrible and they wanted them to move positions that he said, no,
oh okay, so you think you're gonna get another contract

(12:03):
somewhere else, Like at that point, it's like you have
to trade me.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
And you said this on yesterday's show.

Speaker 4 (12:06):
It's like he is doing everything he can to go
see you buy and go find a new start. So
not only Soto, but what labor Torres in August, September
and hopefully October fore Yankee fans, well, there's.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
What there's still Even though the deadline is today, realistically speaking,
was it. It's still a fact machine set up. So
as long as it's faxed in before before six, it'll count.
And after that it's waivers. Right, So like if you
so if he doesn't, if you don't trade him before that,
you put him on waivers, which means the worst team.

(12:41):
So like the White Sox would have first right in
them and it would go up. It would go like that.
So like if I'm if I'm Labor, I'm doing whatever
it takes to get them to trade me somewhere good.
But if I'm the Yankees, I still have I still
have all of the power. I can listen, I I
can put you, I can make you play wherever I

(13:01):
want you to play, or I can or I can
do it out. I cant dfa you if I have to,
I can. There's things I can still do to make
your life hell so that you do what I want
in the meantime. But it's just it sucks. I liked Labor,
I like, I liked him a lot for a long time.
But he definitely he seems like someone has given up

(13:21):
on New York.

Speaker 4 (13:23):
Add him to the list unfortunately of Brian Cashman prospects
that missed Lynn Well, it's true, right like Labor was
can't miss it was Labor Torres, Gary Sanchez, Clinn Fraser,
doesn't really count.

Speaker 3 (13:37):
He does.

Speaker 4 (13:38):
They traded to get him, I guess so, I mean,
he didn't draft him, but they did trade to get him.
Aaron Judge, Aaron Judge is a hit. Aaron Judge's no
doubt a hit. He was the prospect through the system.
They made it work. Jaba, but I feel like the
Jaba went was a little too far back about prospects
that didn't hit. But more recently, Miguel and Dohar is
a hard one to do a value because he wasn't
really supposed to be there to begin with, but he

(13:58):
had a rookie the like effort Labor was supposed to
be the future.

Speaker 3 (14:02):
Can't miss.

Speaker 4 (14:02):
Here's the guy, here's the one, and now more than
likely he won't be a Yankee in August then will
be a Yankee. Wild to think about.

Speaker 3 (14:12):
So much fun. But again, you're winning again, so maybe
it all comes together. Winning fixes all these things, right,
it's it could be okay, Well, we'll see, we'll see
what happens. Right now, half game back from the filthy Orioles.
They can catch them, no problem. They're not that good
of a team. Everything will be fine as long as
they can keep playing the way they're playing against Zach

(14:33):
Wheeler today versus Louis Heel. It is going to be
some some real I'm sorry. That was last night when
the Yankees just shelled them. Judge two home runs, Chisholm
two home runs, Volpay a home run like Rice a
home run. Finally it was it was good to see

(14:55):
gen Carlos Stanton got on base with a walk. You know,
that was good. See can we do that again, Yanks?
That's what we'll find out tonight. And if you can,
if you start beating these teams, you know, you can
look back and be like, that's why we didn't make
a bunch of moves, just on the outside looking in. Though, guys,
as you look at this thing, the Phillies are the
best team in baseball sixty five and forty one. The

(15:18):
Yankees everybody left them for dead on the side of
the road sixty three and forty five. So still still time,
my friends, Still still time. Dear God, I hated asking
that win. Must win again, dookie.

Speaker 4 (15:35):
This would have been like a study in the human race.
If we had just set up a camera, you know,
like now with the broadcasters in the call, they have
it on the broadcaster or you have the watch alongs.
If you could have been here in studio, we're gonna
be out live Thursday and Friday. We were maybe potentially
we'll know by the end of the show. We're gonna
be out live on Wednesday. But if you could have
watched all fifteen sixteen minutes of Levac going through that segment,

(15:57):
I enjoyed it, hurt. It was a lot of emotions, anger, sadness, crying, happiness, excitement.

Speaker 3 (16:04):
I think you're constantpated at one point, definitely not constant sadly.
International Wing Day got me? Uh, how you doing it? Is? Uh?

If you have a Fox Sports account, an ESPN account,
if you have Twitter, like whatever, you're on Earth right,
you've seen what just happened. And by the way, it
says Tuesday night, so it's already happened, right, I mean.

Speaker 4 (23:43):
Technically it happened in France the six hours, so it's
your yes. So Team USA Women's Gymnastics won the gold medal.

Speaker 3 (23:52):
It's already happened. They won.

Speaker 4 (23:54):
Simone Biles is a part of that team that won
the gold medal. She did not win a gold in
the most recent Summer Olympic. I want to say twenty twenty,
but because of COVID it wasn't. She wanted silver and
a bronze. She did not win gold, even as a
part of the team event. She came back. She want gold.
Here's why. Okay, you know what good for her? She
want gold?

Speaker 3 (24:11):
US say, Usa, US.

Speaker 4 (24:14):
Say, problem is you've done this in school before. How
much of the project did she do? I mean it
feels like the well the team got an a team
got the gold. Was she the leader? Did she do
the research? Did she copy and paste from Wikipedia? I
will offer up my judgments later about the gymnastics. I
would assume she's the best one. So she probably has

(24:36):
this triumphant moment to come back after everything that happened
at the last Olympics, that this was her moment. But
not being a analyst when it comes to women's gymnastics,
maybe she didn't. I'll have to watch and see, but
there is a proud moment here. Do I owe her
an apology. Yes, no, I don't. I don't really twenty

(25:00):
twenty one happened. She can't wipe that away. Wearing the
goat stuff not going out there. You want to me
to uh, the Redemption Tours that what's still being called
tel Verse.

Speaker 3 (25:11):
You won, they they won. Here let me just read
you one quote from the article with Biles that her
show's stopping best. The Americans total of one hundred and
seventy one thousand, two hund ninety six points was well
clear of Italy and Brazil and the exclamation point of
a year long run with Biles has cemented her legacy

(25:33):
as the greatest ever in her sport and among the
best in the history of the Olympics. She write that
wrote that you know you do a lot with articles
that AI now I know you can what a robot
wrote that raising a number one in the air and

(25:55):
blowing kisses to the crowd after scoring a fourteen point
sixty sixty six to seal the Americans third goal in
the last four trips of the Games. It's pretty good,
is it?

Speaker 4 (26:09):
Also staying there, she now has the most medals of
any American gymnast in the history of the Olympics.

Speaker 3 (26:13):
The computer put that in there. I didn't I didn't notice.
I didn't notice. It did say that she did her exercise.
Her floor exercise music was Taylor Swift and Beyonce. Gosh,
tough to beat, tough to beat, You're ready to Swift?
And Beyonce you ready to apologize? Yeah? Yeah, no, Wow, Wow,

(26:38):
She's great. She's bringing home the gold to us.

Speaker 4 (26:41):
My point was not arguing whether or not Simone Biles
is a great gymnast. That wasn't my point form yesterday's show.
My point was that, like, nobody wanted to criticize her
and have these storylines sitting out there of like is
she going to reach expectations? Is she the most marketable
athlete anymore because she didn't win in twenty twenty one?
Do people care as much about her and twenty twenty
four as they did in twenty twenty one. Those are

(27:03):
the questions I asked, Now, do I think today I've
been proven wrong? Because they want the gold medal and
she put on an historic performance and tonight I'll probably
be the most watch gymness to convent in the history
of the country. Those points don't work in my favor.
Some would say it'd work against me.

Speaker 3 (27:20):
Actually, well, when you say some, do you mean everyone?
Do you mean everyone would say it works against you?
Like all the people with eyes and ears and the
ability to interpret information.

Speaker 4 (27:32):
I wonder if there's some people who listen to the
show like tonight, when we tune in and watch this
all happen or rewind it on Peacock or however you're
consuming your Olympic content, they're like, imagine me in like
Canadian garb cheering against the country for my takes about
someone Biles, and I'm singing, Oh Canada.

Speaker 3 (27:49):
That is not the case. Yeah, I mean, I'm rooting
for this country to win. You're wearing a maple leaf
right now. It's like so clear it's not. And you've
said that's the best anthem in the world that I have.
Just today, before the show even started, You're like, what
an outrage that the Canadian team has been deducted at
six points? I think they should get that six points back?

(28:10):
What's that a boot? I said that. I don't remember.
I don't remember saying that. I believe you said sorry
about it, but I believe we did even those points back.
She's okay, she's okay, she's maybe the greatest female gymnast
in the history of the world. I think we all
learned of her. Catwoman won her two. I think we

(28:33):
learned a valuable lesson from Simone Biles. Gods is stupid.
That's not the lesson. That's not check.

Speaker 4 (28:41):
The lesson is sometimes too much hype is a bad thing.
Sometimes having too much hype around you can actually hurt
your career. Now she's bounced back from Simone Mania. That
is what we can call twenty twenty one, where she
didn't set a Michael Phelps record for gold. Mendelson like,
maybe maybe that's what I'm spoiled by because the most
hyped Olympic athlete, not team sport athlete, not individual athlete,

(29:03):
the most hyped up Olympic American athlete. I can remember
it in my lifetime as Michael Phelps. You brought up
Dave and Dan yesterday. I'm sure there are Carl Lewis.
I'm sure he's in this conversation, Jackie Joyner, Kersey uh Flow,
Joe Jesse Owen. There's great Olympians of all time, but
the most hype going into Olympic Games in my lifetime

(29:24):
is Michael Phelps. Michael Phelps did it eight gold medals.
Remember that picture that I was hanging around, Remember that
finish you had the bad guy he beat at the buzzer.
Now he's looking like the late Luke Harper. You see
that interview today Lavack where he's had the big beard.
It's all dark part of the Maybe that's what I'm
spoiled by that. Anytime an Olympic athlete gets hyped up,

(29:46):
like Simone Biles got hyped up, I expect them to
be in next to Michael Phelps. And that wasn't it.
She won as a team sport. She won just I
need her to do an individual I need to raise
the bar on her now. I need her to do
it by herself this year. What have you done for
me lately? She's injured too, Like a moment, guess I'm
quickly that injury would have came back if they got silver.

(30:09):
Simone Biles leg destroyed during competition.

Speaker 3 (30:12):
But guess what, what a hero? Guess what they didn't.
She even saluted the judges. She's a good sportsman. Wow,
you were just a bitter bitter, bitter petty, bitter petty
Are you tired? I'm not? Simone Biles man I'm out
on her. I've noticed that's what is it? Is it

(30:33):
the female part? What is it about her? You don't
like it? It's just you got Yeah, you you take
weird stances, you think like you all will say, like
the hill you're gonna die on? You picked the weirdest
hills to die on, like going after an American hero
like Simone Piles. Dare you her?

Speaker 4 (30:52):
And JJ Watt And I'm trying to think, you know,
there's some other people in that group, but she's on
the list.

Speaker 3 (30:56):
Yeah, you're over here with Carmelo Anthony, like, oh, he's
a great teammate. Never saw a shot he didn't take.

Speaker 4 (31:02):
Speaking about Carmel, now, that's the greatest basketball Olympian of
all time. Three gold medals, the greatest of all time.
Now did he have a team he played on?

Speaker 3 (31:12):
Yes? Did he win those? Oh boy, this isn't gonna
work in my favor. Nope, nope. Keep digging, keep digging.
You're almost there. You almost made your way to China.

Speaker 4 (31:22):
I thought I had a better I had a better
take about How about Jimmer for debt?

Speaker 3 (31:26):
Am? I right? Pen it out of that? How about that? Huh?
I want to let's let's jimmer. Let's will you teach
me how the jimmer. Let's talk about four. Let's give
you something something we can all can we talk about
and then we all agree on four. Ultimate energy C
four popsicle flavors A great way to get through your day,

(31:49):
that boost of energy when instead of being a hater
like gods, you can the anti hater aide, which is
C four.

Speaker 4 (31:56):
There is no hater aid in C four. I know
that for effect. C four will give you that extra
boost that you need to get you through the day. Now,
maybe you're gonna be watching on demand or live with
your family tonight Simone Biles and Team USA Ghost, or
enjoy yourself a C four you know what, get your
own work on later, stay up there, you go, get
a nice workout in, have a SEA four.

Speaker 3 (32:14):
Get that energy you need. It's on later, and enjoy
the competition C four.

Speaker 4 (32:18):
As you mentioned, the fact of those great popsicle flavors,
so many great tasting Sea force. I love saying this
that people continue to tell this. It tastes great. So
many different energy drinks you may have had in the past,
or the coffee or whatever you're saying that's given you
that boost that you need now. C four gives you
everything that you need with the great flavor, great taste
Stewart's Speedway. Find the flavor you're gonna love and make
it a part of your morning or afternoon routine. Back Thursday,

(32:40):
the Sea four Smart Energy Banker will challenge returns. There's
a certain somebody in first place that is you. Yeah,
by but we feel like and you know what, in
similar fashion, a lot of people are calling my comeback
the Redemption Tour after a tough start last year, or
those you name one of those people besides you, You
know what, maybe someone Biles can inspire me. Maybe my comeback,

(33:04):
some owe Biles like will lead me to the goal
this summer thanks to Sea for you know what, I'm
slowly starting to buy into this Simoe Bile stuff. You
know what, maybe she has inspired me to wager on
horses starting this Thursday to win this competition.

Speaker 3 (33:17):
Yep, yep. She should inspire you, but instead you just
spit venom instead of enjoying a nice cold popsicle grape
C four that you got it Speedway or it's Stewart's
Joyous four today. I wonder I know earlier today you
were talking about a story I'm curious to have to

(38:54):
Titans Camp.

Speaker 4 (38:55):
Oh, I'm so happy you had this, love BC. I
have to apologize to you and to our friend Matthew Bob, who,
after yesterday's conversation claims, keep your lives for somebody else.

Speaker 3 (39:05):
Guy, that was a great tweet. I'm sorry. So basically,
you'd said that two of our two of our classic
listeners gonna be first Eddie bus trip they were He's like,
I better be on that bus too, And then you
had mentioned that you don't pull audio.

Speaker 4 (39:21):
And he said, guys, doesn't use a lot of sound
on the show because he doesn't want to get in trouble.
Save your lives for actually something important, guys. To my credit,
le Vack, hang on. You know, moments before the show,
I had said, hey, do you want me to pull
this audio?

Speaker 3 (39:37):
And then again I well, I wait, you don't have it. No,
I don't have it. I will. To your defense, I
can pull it though I'm quick enough. Now to your defense,
I didn't say I understand what story was. I asked
you if you had time to pull audio, and you're like,
you have you It was like one of those things like, oh,
you have two choices. I can pull audio or we
can get our notes for the rest of the week done.

(39:59):
And I was like, let's get the notes for the week.
All right, so this is training camp is one of
my favorite things we get to do. It is, but
it's a known place where Temper's flair. It's just no
like every year, uh, your guy Justin Peugh, former Syracuse

(40:20):
offensive lineman, giant offensive lineman. Every year, that dude, we
get in a fight with a defensive lineman every singleer. Hey,
it's training camp. Justin Pew's in a fight, you know.
I mean, it wasn't camp till Pugh was throwing hands.
So Buck Raising of the Buck Raising Show creative is

(40:42):
that Titans camp during the show Jeffrey Simmons former guests
on this show. By the way, years ago, Simmons on
Radio Row. He came on at the same time the
safety for the Broncos came on. Oh the future stuff. Yeh, yep. Yeah,
big dude, tough dude, heck of a football player. Apparently,

(41:09):
while while Buck is doing his show, you hear Simmons
call him the P word, like off Mike good thing
at ingram this audio, Yeah, and then gets close enough
where you can hear him clearly say you do a
lot of talking on social media. This is Simmons the

(41:30):
player to Buck the broadcaster. To Buck's credit, he replied,
I'm right here, Jeff. We can talk anytime you want to. Unbelievable, Well,
we will deal with that later on. And he went
out to say like he doesn't feel like it's best
suited to yell across the field each other. Whatever the tweet,

(41:51):
And so, guys, I'm gonna give you the tweet that
apparently made Simmons angry, and you tell me whether or
not Simmons was justified as anger. Okay, quote Simmons just
swung at Latham after some pushing and shoving. Ref said
ninety eight simmons number would have been tossed in a game.

(42:12):
He's back in for the next two and immediately starts
a brawl. Sloppy Simmons needs to lock tf in.

Speaker 4 (42:23):
Ninety percent of that was fine. The last six or
seven words was a little out of line. The sloppy
needs to lock in. You don't know what the traill
is like. I'll go back to a guy who covers
camp all the time, Sal Caapacco. He's there all the time.
You and I bumped. I know we made friends with him.
He offered this advice to young broadcasters and people who
are covering the team. The hardest thing to do when

(42:44):
you're doing camp coverage, when you're talking about the team,
is to understand what was called in the field because
you don't know. You don't know what the coverage like.
We could look at a play and say, oh my god,
I can't believe Sauce Gardner got burned here.

Speaker 3 (42:55):
No, no, that was his assignment.

Speaker 4 (42:57):
Oh I can't believe he ran by the play here
that the idea that he offered up his take of sloppy.

Speaker 3 (43:02):
Needs to lock in. You don't. I don't know, is
that okay? Because he saw about the fighting, so two
fights who didnt kicked out of the game twice. Probably,
here's just tough about that.

Speaker 4 (43:13):
What I would see is a fight on a football field,
and what you would see is a fight on the
football field. We'd have an understand of, like, okay, that's
a camp fight, that's a real fight.

Speaker 3 (43:21):
That's guy's playing football.

Speaker 4 (43:23):
I don't know what Bucks's clarification is on that could
have been a slow down on Tuesday in Nashville, where
it's like that looked like a fight. To me, practice
had to be altered. I'm a radio host who's here
for camp. Probably every single day, I need something to
talk about. I'll call this a fight. I got three
hours that that's hard for.

Speaker 3 (43:39):
Me to eventerp. You remember they said the first the
first fight, the ref said he would have got kicked
out of the game, and then in two plays later
he starts a brawl. So like.

Speaker 4 (43:51):
The sloppy the fight that he's a dirt whole thing, right,
I don't know what he's actually mad about.

Speaker 3 (43:55):
To your point, is that the right thing to say
as a journalist, as you say a big jay journalist, No,
shouldn't have said that last part as a host. As
an entertainer, he has to say the last part or something.
They're all visit too far? Is the TF? You know

(44:16):
the bleep? Is that too far? Okay, you can have
that conversation. But his job is to get attention online,
not just for himself but for the radio station and
for the Titans. And he's got that.

Speaker 4 (44:29):
So there's two ways now this is gonna go down
situation well into the negative. First, not heaving that relationship
with the Titans. They're not knowing a lot of people
connected with that team. You could offer this up because
you do this every single day. You are a team
president of a professional football team. Let's say this happened.
Let's say, for instance, I said something to Darius Prince.

(44:50):
I said, Darius Prince really lazy on his route. It's
got to step up his game in practice. That should
have been a catch by Prince Darius season on Twitter.
He starts yelling at.

Speaker 3 (44:58):
Me him and I go back. I want to pall
extremely realistic. It would be you would not him being
lazy in practice, because he's never but if you said
something like that, he would confront you.

Speaker 4 (45:08):
I want to halt that second interaction for the second
part of this. But the first part of this. Okay,
this has now gone viral Fox Sports, and this is
weird because Fox Sports you're here as well. But let's
say take you out if that as the host and
we're doing the team president role here. Okay, Fox Sports
radio host gets into it with the local athlete. Wouldn't
there be a conversation now with your ownership group and

(45:28):
your team president, your head coach of Hey, we don't
want Fox here anymore. This caused the disruption to practice.
This is now a problem. We're in the headlines for
the wrong reason.

Speaker 3 (45:38):
Guys.

Speaker 4 (45:38):
We allowed you to broadcast live from camp. This is
no longer going to allow you guys to broadcast from here.
Let's start there, Like, do you think this is the
last broadcast?

Speaker 3 (45:46):
Yeah, I would be. I would my And how would
I do it? I would So the one thing I
do like is raising buck there the host has said,
I'm we're here every day. We can work this out.
We can talk it out. We can do what we
can do it on the air, we can do it
off the air. I would one hundred percent and be like, guys, Darius,

(46:07):
sit down, talk. Let me know what comes out of
the conversation. If you, guys walk away from the conversation,
it's more heated than it was before. Yeah, you can't
be a you can't be a camp. You gotta go.
If you walk away from the conversation. And Darius, like,
you know what, I see where you're coming from, you
come out and go. You know what, I went a
little too far? Darius, You're cool with gods being here. Gods,
you're cool. You gotta figure it out. Cool, then you

(46:27):
can stay. But and and by the way, I wouldn't
hate the attention. There's a lot of attention. Your brand's
out there, like the Titans everybody knows the Titan well,
obviously not everybody knows the Titans. There that whole bit
about you know the schedule where they're walk around who's this?
But like I'm all I'm I'm all for? Is there

(46:49):
a quick resolution? Now? You went too far? Darius Prince
continues to be lazy in this and that all these things,
and then you wouldn't Darius wouldn't get you, I would,
you know what I mean? But like this did he did?
He sauce it up a little more than he should
have on this comment. Okay, I can hear that, But again,
he's watching the defensive leader of this team potentially kicked

(47:13):
out of a game twice. And this is the guy
that the young guys, all the rookies are going. This
is the guy that's supposed to be like so without knowing better. Okay,
now to your other point, not to ramble on, but
why would I stop? Now? Maybe maybe Simmons is sick
of he's watching his defense drag and he's like, I'm

(47:35):
gonna do this kind of like Aaron Boone getting kicked
out of games. I'm gonna light a fire on my
team by lighting a fire under everybody. Either way. He's
got to say what he sees. That's why he's there.
This is showing my age a little bit.

Speaker 4 (47:47):
I'm always shocked how quickly the athlete can get it,
like how fast the tweet comes in. And that's just
living in a world and competing in sports before social
media was this popular. Back to the Buck reasing the
host and how this would happen, I think locally in
the campolt the region or camps that you and I
have covered. We've covered four NFL teams, Patriots, Giants, Jets, Bills.

(48:08):
Weren't likely not going to be a camp this year.
We've had a lot of things on our schedule. We
would have loved to be there. We've told you about
the rumors about the Jets. Maybe we can squeeze in
the Giants. We're gonna do our best. But I think
from what I saw and not knowing this relationship with
Bucker easing and only having a fifty second cut, that's
about as perfect as you can handle it as the

(48:28):
most Yeah, jeff sit down, let's talk about hang on, Jeffrey,
come sit down. I have an open microphone, you've got
a headset. We'll do this together. I don't want to
be rude to the guests who just sat down. I'm
trying to have a conversation. If you and I want
to talk, we can do it right now. You here,
you go. Hopefully you've got a producer back at studio
for the dump buttons. You might swear maybe this is
taped because it's a live stream, it's hard to tell him.

(48:49):
Assuming he's live and doing the video contents out of it,
let's talk about it now. Jeffrey Simmons might have said,
this guy's a professional talker. I'm not going on his turf.
He's got to come on my turf. I don't know
if that was the instincts post practic, but well, remember
they handled it really well. Remember how we met Jeffrey Simmons.
It was like the early training program to do media
after his playing career. Yeah, so he I'm sure he

(49:10):
feels as though he has the exact same skill level
as Buck Reasing. Uh.

Speaker 3 (49:14):
Yeah, I think it's I think it's a fun story
because this is where this is where the world is.
Here's the better question you talked about quickly it goes
from social media to the athlete being aware of it.
Who told Jeffrey Simmons. Because Jeffrey Simmons is in drills.
It's amazing. Right. So somebody like some you know, whoever's

(49:35):
on muscle beach working out because they're not cleared to practice,
got the phone, Yo, Simmons, Buck got something to say
about you being sloppy. And then oh, really could be
his teammate. Who's going on to in the hand, who's
buck reacing? Oh? Let me check them out. Hey, Yo,

(49:55):
it could have happened.

Speaker 4 (49:57):
Camp is set up for stuff like this, if you're
going to do broadcast every same angle day of camp.
I love football, you love the NFL. I've said this
before about camp. There are boring days at camp. They
are it's still practice, it's still two and a half hours.
You can do your best to construct storylines on what's
happening and who's going to have a breakout practice and
all those things. There are days not much has happening.
Corner Roger m Roger McCary, Okay, yeah, he was what's down?

(50:22):
I don't know he was saying in the cut. You
don't want to be rude to Roger because he just
said there's not a lot happening at camp. No, but
this situation sh I'm trying to think back of the
fifteen times you and I have done it. I don't
think we've ever had anything like this happen where even
college camps too, like you all, but we've been at
practices and games before, We've been at the Empire and
the Firebirds. Nothing is like no one's ever came at us,

(50:44):
besides like maybe Rob keyp but that doesn't count because
it wasn't No one's had a back and forth of like.
But that wasn't at practice, that wasn't at camp.

Speaker 3 (50:53):
That was close. That was that was close. I wasn't
there for that. You were there for that foot Doug
Morone was the coach of the Bills, and honestly that
was the last year we were allowed to do the
show on on the grounds. But Doug Maryland left raft
that too. He was just about to start they moved.
The podium was right near us and before he went on,

(51:15):
arm and the co host of the Times stands up
and goes, Doug, Doug, we're on the radio, and he goes,
I'm about to be two and he gives them the
dirtiest look and to Armor's point, Armist basically, hey, will
you come over here, you want't to come talk to us,
But that's not how it went.

Speaker 4 (51:32):
If I if I ever told you about the story
when I covered Syracuse football camp and the mistake I
made is a young reporter, I don't think I've ever
told you the story.

Speaker 3 (51:39):
I tried to sniff. No, I did not coach or
player Babers. I do.

Speaker 4 (51:44):
So what would happen at some practices for college? And
coach Catusa is not like this at U all, but
I'm not sure if coach Drack is like this at Union.
But some colleges will say we're only allowing media availability
for ninety minutes, for sixty minutes for thirty. Some college
will restrict media availability for certain practices. So I was like,
I'm just excited to be here. Harry Am a young,

(52:06):
young reporter, young radio whow I got to go see
Syracuse football.

Speaker 3 (52:09):
I'm so excited.

Speaker 4 (52:10):
Wait, So off the practice I go, not knowing that
media would be restricted. I had to get walked over
like a child. So it's like me and a bunch
of dorks getting walked over to practice. So they had
sixty minutes of media availability. The first half hour they
stretched and warmed up, and the next half hour was
special teams and then they threw us out. So now

(52:31):
here I am an hour of Syracuse football practice. I've
seen nothing. I got nothing, So I'm doing stringer work.
This is called so stringer work means you're calling back
at the station. Hey, hey, it's Got's here with the
score twelve sixty. I'm on with Mike Lindsley. Hey, guys,
what did you see at Syracuse football practice today? Well,
Mike Andre Rikkowski was really good. You missed a couple

(52:51):
of extra points, but Rakowski is kicking game.

Speaker 3 (52:54):
Guys. That's the third string kicker. I'm like, yeah, it
is the third string case. I got no I got
I watch them.

Speaker 4 (53:02):
I played for what? Nothing else happened? I can make
up a storyline. I don't have a ten minute interview
with anybody after What do you want me to say
that happened? Besides, the third string kicker from the UK
missed some extra points, So yeah, I've been in that
spot before we were trying to make storylines. I have
not had I wish now the third string kicker with
like a British accent would have found me.

Speaker 3 (53:22):
Are you talking about me?

Speaker 11 (53:24):
Huh?

Speaker 3 (53:27):
Why do you go Australian is there in the UK
still anything? Aren't they that cozy? You call me Australian.
I'll tell you alright, read a book. I just love
win a world war. Sorry, uh, revolutionary warrior jerks, take that, Bluie.

(53:53):
I don't either. We've gone we've we've we've we've gone
off the rails the coaching two and we're nice to
be using this a top four four of them. Man,
how about you all?

Speaker 4 (54:01):
And have you seen that some of the upgrades they've
had to their facilities in the field and everything else?

Speaker 3 (54:05):
About picking up season tickets? That's sure shows the tickets, Lovac.
I thought you're just gonna flex the old media pass.
Don't you know who the hell I am walk in?
Unlike you, I like to support my friends financially. It's
very nice.

Speaker 4 (54:19):
Wait, you've officially retired. It's it's all done on field.
I didn't know they're gonna ask you back and then
you've already.

Speaker 3 (54:25):
My back can't do it. I gotta get my back
fix first. Once I get my back fixed, who knows,
maybe I'll get back to it. But right now, like
people think that I'm fat because I want to be,
I literally cannot stand on that turf for an hour,
but my back just exploding.

Speaker 4 (54:38):
This is sounding like a real athlete press conference here,
Like my back can't do it anymore? Can my knees,
my shoulders, everything else.

Speaker 3 (54:46):
Fine, it's my lower back. I've slipped the disc and
until I get it fixed, I can't stand on turf
for that long.

Speaker 4 (54:52):
This is close to Tony Romo. Tony Romo retires because
of a back injury. You've retired for a back injury
from your time on the shield.

Speaker 3 (54:59):
There's some minor differences this some more broadcasters. I think
Parcells likes me. How about the top four or four?
I alret I do that. I got that Fox Sports
Radio ninety five nine. You will
