Speaker 1 (00:00):
Loup Penrose on News Radio six hundred co Go. We
are live in San Diego. Thank you for tuning in.
Good to have you along with us. Happy Friday.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
It's a holiday for some of us and a workday
for some of us. And no one really knows what's
going on because we're getting mailed. But the federal office
and the state and county and city offices are closed.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
So who knows.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
But I'm in a holiday mood. You're in a holiday mood.
Let's have a holiday kind of show. Hey, the flag
is still up in San Marcos.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
Neighborhood dispute is escalating in San Marcos as homeowners pushed
back against their hoa's thread to find them for flying
American flags.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
And how did the HOA not know that this story
was going to go viral?
Speaker 1 (00:47):
I mean, it's the fourth of July.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
It's the two hundred and fiftieth celebration of our nation's birthday.
Everybody's talking about the fourth of July. Everybody's excited that
it's on a Saturday. Everybody's excited that the government workers
get the friday off, so it's a three day weekend
at the very least. Everybody, can you know party all
night and sleeping. On Sunday, my wife went shopping. She said,
(01:11):
it's a zoo out there, lines everywhere people. It's like
getting ready for Thanksgiving, but it's summertime.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
So how did.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
The HOA not know in this current environment where everything
like this goes viral, that this would not be picked
up by the Associated press.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
Would not make national news.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
And because of the timeliness of it, everyone's going to
have an opinion and everyone's going to want to talk
about it.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
It was picked up by t MZ.
Speaker 4 (01:43):
What's the beef with the Homeowners Association? Why are they
saying that flying a flag is a violation of HOA rules?
Speaker 5 (01:51):
They're confused about what common area is. It's a fundamental
difference in the definition of common area versus exclusive use
common area.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
All right, I know the difference because I have an
HOA and.
Speaker 6 (02:05):
There is.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
Private property and then where there are condomy like a
when a condominium is attached to another common condominium, there
is a common area and usually that would be the
strip of siding that separates the common wall. And in
this case also I guess garage doors are considered like
(02:31):
not your private property because your neighbor also so that's
really the beef.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
Like if you put a flag pole.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
In the dirt and flew the American flag, I guess
in this hoa then you could do that, but you
can't attach it onto common area property.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
And everybody is flying there.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
Nobody has a flag pole, and everybody's just flying their
flag on that little, you know, angle thing that you
buy at the hardware store. And where do you put it.
You put it on like the side of the house,
like the little bit of.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
Molding. But that's no good.
Speaker 5 (03:08):
They're confused about what common area is. It's a fundamental
difference in the definition of common area versus exclusive use.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
Common area right, and exclusive use would be where you
can do it.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
And also they didn't want any flag.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
What was happening is people were putting out padres flags,
they were putting out rams flags, chargers flags. I guarantee
you somebody put out the obligatory Pride flag. It won't
be long before there's a Palestinian flag out there.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
And so the HA said, all right, no more flags.
That's it. This place looks like a flag shop.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
It brings down the quality of the neighborhood and it
makes it look like, you know, one of these weirdo places.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
So no more flags.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
Okay, So when you say no more flags, you have
to define what a flag is.
Speaker 1 (03:59):
And it has long been a hell that.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
The flag of the United States does not fall under
the restriction guidelines of no flags. They had this fight
in Palm Springs because people in Palm Springs, right there
on the strip, right in the heart of downtown Palm
Springs Tacolates Canyon Drive, there's lots of T shirt shops
(04:23):
and you know, gift shops and regular shops, and everybody
wants you to come inside, so they would like have
twirling little wind socks and all kinds of things to
get your attention to come inside. And it looked junkie.
It looked like a swap meat. So the city didn't
want that, so they banned all flags and wind socks
and all kinds of things, all kinds of spinnings, spirit catchers.
(04:47):
I can't have any of that crap looks crappy. And
somebody had an American flag out and that was the
big fight, and we learned that the United States flag
can never be restricted. And that's the problem that's going
on here in this condo association.
Speaker 5 (05:03):
And we're not I'm done, I'm done being harassed, but
we just really want to be left alone.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
They want to be left alone. They're being harassed, they're
being fined one hundred dollars a day. But it's backfiring
now that the story has gone viral and there are
two residents in the San Marcos HOA that are just fighting.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
They're fighting back.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
They've got an attorney and they're going to fight back.
It's a real shame when you have to sue your
own HOA because it's your own money.
Speaker 7 (05:33):
You know.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
But they don't want to fight back.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
And what's happening is other people are now breaking the rule.
Other people are out there saying, screw you. Don't you
tell me you got a veteran out there. Actually there's
an active duty, active duty military guys like I'm down.
Speaker 4 (05:54):
HOA is saying that the flag represents and this is
the quote, a political or affiliative view which degrades a
common the common area right.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
And that, to be fair, that is true. If you're flying.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
A rams L a RAMS flag all the time, or
USC flag or u c L A flag, it does.
Speaker 1 (06:22):
Degrade a little bit.
Speaker 2 (06:26):
If you if you want if the if the h
o A and the community wants to be wants to
have a certain look.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
That's the job of the ho way to enforce that look.
Speaker 6 (06:36):
So it is true.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
And whether it's political or what was the phrases of community.
Speaker 4 (06:43):
Riative view, affiliative view, affiliate affliative view.
Speaker 2 (06:48):
Right, that's what a rams, that's what a Padres flag is.
It's an affiliate. You're an affiliate. But the United States
flag doesn't fall under these categories, which degrades the common area.
Speaker 8 (07:03):
That is initially what they did say, even after many
many people have said the American flag.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
Is an exception to any other flag.
Speaker 8 (07:11):
My flag has been here for thirty five years in
that exact same spot. It has never been brought to
my attention in all the years I've lived here. Ever,
not once has it ever been a problem. And then
just in the recent years, in the last couple of years,
all of a sudden, it's a political statement.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
Is this a tru Is this a Trump thing?
Speaker 6 (07:29):
It has to be.
Speaker 8 (07:30):
They're denying that, but it has to be.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
It has to be. No, it has to be because
you know what happened.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
There's a couple of old biddies on the HOA who
have Trump arrangement syndrome.
Speaker 1 (07:41):
People at tump Trump arrangement syndrome.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
Look at the flag of the United States of America
as a Trump campaign symbol.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
How brilliant is it of Trump?
Speaker 6 (07:54):
Two?
Speaker 1 (07:56):
Literally, I mean, what's the proper word.
Speaker 2 (08:01):
Did he incorporate the American flag into his candidacy to
the point that his political enemies have to now hate
on the American flag?
Speaker 1 (08:15):
But yes, that's exactly what happened. That's exactly you know,
that's what happened.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
Some cat lady on the HOA board doesn't want to
see a lot of American flags because that is America.
And who's making America grant again your favorite president number
forty seven, Donald J.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
Trump.
Speaker 2 (08:35):
So they want to cleanse the community of any reference
to Donald Trump, which would be an American flag.
Speaker 1 (08:42):
Well, it's not going to work. Now more flags are
going up.
Speaker 9 (08:44):
We have an active military member in our community that
when he caught wind of this, he has installed his flag,
even against the hoa's wishes. So we are seeing now
more flags are going up with this. It was some
of this attention coming out and seeing the flags going back.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
How about that now everybody's putting out a flag screw you.
Don't you tell me what to do. I'm a free American.
I'm gonna go out and find myself a flag and
put it up. There are people literally buying flags all
around this neighborhood now and putting it up. I'd fly
ten of them, and I would go ahead, what's the fine?
(09:22):
One hundred dollars a month for twelve hundred dollars a year,
I would. I mean, I would pay the attorney the
retainer of three thousand dollars, but.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
I'll pay the fine.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
Pay here, yeah, slip the one hundred dollars charge under
my door, and I'm gonna. I'm gonna pay it, and
I'm gonna buy myself a bigger flag. And every time
you send me a hundred dollars bill, I'm gonna I'm
gonna buy a bigger flag until we get a flag
the size that they fly over the car dealership. And
I'm gonna get spotlights and light it all up all
(09:53):
right when we come back. Rick Caruso heard about this,
the guy that was running for mayor of Los Angeles,
no longer running from Like a lot of people now
are commenting on this. Hoa San Marco's dust up over
the American flag.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
It's hilarious. It's all coming up next, Lou.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
Penrose on news radio six hundred cogo. Yeah, the big,
the big flag dispute over in San Marcos has gone viral.
Speaker 3 (10:19):
Neverhood dispute is escalating in San Marcos as homeowners pushed
back against their hoa's thread to find them for flying
American flag.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
That's Fox five San Diego.
Speaker 2 (10:29):
Now more and more homeowners are installing flags, flying flags.
I mean, it looks so fantastic and we'll see how
this fight ends up. But Rick Caruso, of all people,
took to social media. I love this guy. It's too
bad he's a Democrat because he would make a great Republican.
Speaker 1 (10:49):
He's a very pro business guy. But he sides with the.
Speaker 2 (10:52):
Democrat on all the other issues and makes him not
so he doesn't He can't win. You got to be
a communist these days or come to the Republican side.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
But he took the social media to send.
Speaker 2 (11:06):
A message to the flag waving Americans in San Marcos.
Speaker 10 (11:10):
And I writ an article in the California Post about
a homeowners' association that was refusing to allow their homeowners
to apply flags. A shame on now. But I say
to those homeowners, is violate that rule and put them
flag outside of your house and fly it proudly.
Speaker 6 (11:24):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
How about that, Rick Caruso telling you to violate the rule.
Speaker 1 (11:32):
I love it. Everybody's feeling they're independence.
Speaker 10 (11:34):
Violate that rule and put that flag outside of your
house and fly it proudly, because that's what we're all
about as Americans. We're strong, we're determined, we're proud, and
we're good, and that's what that flag represents.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
Good for you, Rick, violate that rule. I'm going to
go over to your outlet center and violate some rules.
Speaker 1 (11:52):
But this is great.
Speaker 2 (11:53):
I love it. It's the right time of year. It's
the great kind of story you heard. I mean Fox
five led with it. So that Hoa is in a
world of hurt and that old Trump derangement syndrome Biddy
on the ha board is running for cover.
Speaker 1 (12:09):
I'll bet right now.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
Hey, I'm a huge fan of Brett and Veronica. They
host San Diego's morning news on news radio six hundred
co Good the Morning Team, and I don't know if
you listen to them. They've been together now for the
better part of six months. I think more than that,
I guess. And they are just a delight. I mean,
(12:32):
they're absolutely hilarious.
Speaker 1 (12:34):
They're so great together.
Speaker 2 (12:36):
They give you everything you need, like all the headlines,
you know what's going on here in San Diego. They're
not political, so they have all the guests on Democrats, Republicans, independents.
Speaker 1 (12:46):
They just ask questions, but they ask good questions.
Speaker 2 (12:50):
So they'll ask a Democrat, well, republicans are setting your
opponents are saying this, what's your thoughts on that?
Speaker 7 (12:54):
Right?
Speaker 2 (12:55):
Like they say, you know, right, And they talk to
Republicans while your opponents are saying this, what do you think?
Speaker 1 (12:59):
And so they get answers that are quality.
Speaker 2 (13:01):
But they're just so fun and they just have so
much fun with each other and have fun with the audience.
And they were like, as they're talking about the news,
they'll also have an undercurrent story going on all morning
because somebody will have asked something, or there'll be some
story about a hot dog or the cost of hot dogs,
(13:25):
and somebody will bring up I like my hot dog
this way, I like my hot dog that way, And
then all morning long, throughout the morning show, like people
will be calling in and commenting on how they like
their hot dog, so they got the top stories and
then the weather, and then Dan Mitcheus and the money
guy is telling you the stock markets up and the traffic,
(13:45):
and then and then.
Speaker 1 (13:46):
There's more talk about hot dog.
Speaker 2 (13:48):
And it's just hilarious the way they interweave fun and news,
and it's just a delight.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
I love them both.
Speaker 2 (13:56):
And some of the calls that came in about hot
dogs yesterday, it was just hilarious. On my hot dog.
I like to put cheddar cheese on the button before
I put the hot dog on, so it melts and
just cheddar cheese and mustard.
Speaker 1 (14:09):
Oh see that.
Speaker 10 (14:10):
It's not the fanciest, but Oscar Meyer makes a cheese dog,
and I gotta tell you, there's not really anything better
than processed meat wrapped around processed.
Speaker 1 (14:19):
Cheese and stuff it in a bun with the fixen.
Speaker 2 (14:22):
I do like the cheese dog. I like anything Oscar Meyer.
I was hooked on Oscar Meyer baloney. That was my
first sandwich. I was living with my when I was
very young. We lived with our grandparents who lived upstairs.
Two houses, but in the same you know house if
you will, like a duplex, and I would go downstairs
before kindergarten, and my grandmother would make me Oscar Meyer
(14:45):
baloney and cheese, So a Kraft single, a slice of
Oscar Meer baloney, two pieces of white bread with mayonnaise.
And my grandfather was a general contractor, so he often
would be back at the house around lunch to do pickups,
you know, scaffling or whatever, and some of his workers
(15:05):
would be with them, So she would allow me to
go outside and sit and eat lunch.
Speaker 1 (15:10):
With the workers.
Speaker 2 (15:11):
So she actually would put my sandwich in a little
brown paper bag and put my name on it, and
then I would go and sit with the workers and
eat my Oscar Mayer bologni. So I'm with you on
the Oscar Mayer hot dog.
Speaker 7 (15:21):
It must be a Hebrew dog and the bun needs
to be grilled with a little bit of mayonnaise on it,
and grill its with NSS and crispy. Of course, the
dog is grilled with mustard and ketchup and a sprinkle
of pickle relish. If I'm feeling adventurous, that's it. Nothing else.
Speaker 2 (15:40):
Only when she's feeling adventurous, mister finnerdy does she want
to sprinkle relish?
Speaker 6 (15:46):
No? No, no, ketchup on a hot dog.
Speaker 1 (15:48):
Come, yeah, you can't do bold No.
Speaker 2 (15:51):
I mean I've seen people mix ketchup and mayonnaise together
to try and get close to a thousand island.
Speaker 6 (15:57):
Well just get a thousand island, but not on a
hot dog.
Speaker 1 (16:00):
Yeah, mustard and ketchup on the hot talk show.
Speaker 2 (16:03):
Well she, I mean she sounded very sultry with the
idea of feeling adventurous and the relish hit that again.
Speaker 7 (16:12):
Of course the dog is grilled with mustard and ketchup
and a sprinkle of picker relish. If I'm feeling adventurous, Hey, now.
Speaker 2 (16:23):
If she's feeling adventurous around the wiener, I think you
give her.
Speaker 1 (16:26):
What she wants.
Speaker 7 (16:26):
That's it.
Speaker 2 (16:27):
Nothing else, Okay, Blue Penrose on news radio six hundred
cogo on the holiday that is the third of July.
Good to be with you here live. Lots of talk
about the Big Bay Boom being a little bit less colorful,
not less colorful, but the colors won't be as vivid.
(16:51):
There is some concern because of some of a I
guess they're using more environmentally friendly gunpowder or the phosphorus
that's being used. The story in the Ut today about
it I wouldn't be that words. A number of people
have reached out to me and said, look, do you
believe this is gonna ruin our show because of these
stupid environmentalist nuts. And look, I'm not a nut, but
(17:18):
I am an environmentalist and all that stuff goes right
in the ocean. And if there's a way, I'm not
saying cancel the thing, but if there's a way to
make the red and the blue still obviously red and blue,
but not hurt the environment or not poison the fish,
then go ahead and do it like the colors are
(17:39):
good enough, so I'm not I'm not as off put
by it. I have to say, this fight between fireworks
and drones are is a naught.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
That's nau g h t.
Speaker 2 (17:53):
These drone shows are just adding to the fun.
Speaker 1 (17:58):
Now where you know where they go. And they ban
the fireworks and only have drones. That's not fair.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
The Fourth of July is about fireworks, the rockets, red glare.
It's in the National anthem. It's in Francis Scott Key's
you know poem. So we have to light up the
night sky like the night sky was lit up at
the Battle of Fort McHenry, so that we can see
(18:28):
the national banner from the lights of the rockets.
Speaker 1 (18:34):
Do you know that's what that song is about? Did
you know that a lot of people don't even know.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
They go to Padre games, they go and they do
the national anthem and they sing the song, and far
too few people know how that song came about. When
Francis Scott Key was aboard a British prison ship looking
out the porthole window at Fort McHenry, he was not optimistic,
(19:03):
the like, oh say, can you see is a question?
It's a query when I wake up tomorrow at the
dawns early light, when I wake up tomorrow, will there
be a nation? I mean, the British Empire was renowned
for its navy, and the England had was bombarding Fort
(19:26):
McHenry for twenty five straight hours, and the United States
was not known for having a strong military, let alone
battling the world's largest navy and most powerful and feared military.
And this is the War of eighteen twelve, and they
were getting even for the Revolutionary War, and they were
(19:47):
gonna they were gonna hand us our lunch. And Fort
McHenry was being bombarded for twenty five straight hours, and
Franciscott key is an attorney, was an attorney and he
was negotiating prisoner exchange on a British prison.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
Ship and couldn't.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
Get out and said, well, it's over. I mean this
little Yankee doodle d andy country is over. I mean
we will be bowing to the British crown by the morning.
Speaker 1 (20:16):
So that was the.
Speaker 2 (20:18):
Genesis of the idea, right when I go to sleep tonight,
by dawn's early light, will the flag still be there?
Speaker 1 (20:27):
And all night he kept peeking out of the.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
Window, and the skies were illuminated because the British were
bombarding Fort McHenry, so the night skies were lit up
and he could see the flag was still there.
Speaker 1 (20:45):
They had not taken the fort. When the enemies take.
Speaker 2 (20:48):
The fort, they lowered the flag to demoralize anybody that
considers why the flag is always so high, and they
would raise the British flag the Union Jack, to say
we got it.
Speaker 1 (20:58):
It's over.
Speaker 2 (20:58):
We've taken over this fort. And all night long he
kept looking out the window and the flag was still there. So, oh, say,
does that star span gold banner yet wave?
Speaker 1 (21:14):
Is a question?
Speaker 2 (21:17):
Is that banner gonna still be up over this Land
of the Free and the Home of the brave. It
really is a brilliant couple of lines, and it means.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
A lot because he was scared.
Speaker 2 (21:30):
It tells the story of how this ragtag group of
patriots withstood the British Navy.
Speaker 1 (21:39):
And the only.
Speaker 2 (21:40):
Sign was that flag in the night sky over Fort McHenry,
and the only way anybody could see it. You know,
they didn't have stadium lighting in those days. The only
way anybody could see it was the rockets. Red glare
and the bombs bursting in air gave proof through the
night that the flag, our flag, our country was still there.
Speaker 1 (22:05):
So we have to have rockets. Having said that, these
drone shows.
Speaker 2 (22:09):
Are spectacular, I saw a drone formation of a bald
eagle in Texas.
Speaker 1 (22:16):
I'm seeing all kinds of great things. I love it.
I think we can do both and uh yeah, at
the same.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
Time, if we want to be a little more environmentally
friendly with the you know, with the stuff, I think
that's cool. And keep watch of your dogs and pets
and also the heat.
Speaker 11 (22:33):
Protect your furry family members that you love so much.
Unlike you and me, many pets cannot effectively regulate their
body temperature.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
Not many pets, all dogs, can't they pant and panting
is exhausting. Like when your dog pants, it's like you
walking running up five flights of stairs, Like that's panting.
So when your dogs doing that, they're they're that exhausted,
putting stress on their.
Speaker 11 (22:58):
Heart and rely primary early on panting to cool themselves,
making them more susceptible to overheating. Experts recommend pets remaining
inside during the hottest parts of the day and make
sure they have constant access to fresh water and shade.
Speaker 1 (23:11):
Yeah, always with the water.
Speaker 2 (23:13):
And by the way, do you know how often you
should be cleaning your pets dog bowl and water bowl?
I saw this on Axios just the other day, and
I was telling this Toldonna Harvey because I was shocked.
It's recommended by the American Veterinary Association that you clean
(23:34):
your dog's food and water bowl daily. And when I
think about that, it's I feel terrible. Yeah, I guess
we should, right, We clean our dishes daily. We don't
drink out of a glass that we drank out of yesterday.
But I had not been until I read the story,
And now I scrub it and now it goes in
(23:55):
the dishwasher with the evening dishes. And uh yeah, don't
just pour water in the same water bowl like rinse
out that water bowl that dog is. Every time your
dog licks it, he introduces, you know, whatever it was
in his mouth into the water.
Speaker 1 (24:12):
So be good to your be good, tear pets. Hot dog.
Speaker 6 (24:18):
I've always loved to chop up some hot dogs and
throw in on mac and cheese. You know, I don't
know if that's weird or not, but that's good.
Speaker 2 (24:25):
That's an odd way to enjoy a hont dog on
the fourth of July.
Speaker 6 (24:28):
Yes, that's were.
Speaker 5 (24:29):
Eating weenies at home at Costco. I like Deli mustard
onion and saur kraut, but Costco is my only weenie run.
Speaker 1 (24:38):
Well, you couldn't have a better one.
Speaker 7 (24:41):
Yeah, I mean the Chicago Stadium for the White Sox.
Speaker 12 (24:44):
There's just a bell you have to ring.
Speaker 7 (24:46):
It's the bell of shame.
Speaker 1 (24:48):
If you use ketchup on the hot dog.
Speaker 3 (24:50):
So all the condiments are there and they do have
ketchup available, but you have to ring the bell of shame.
Speaker 7 (24:55):
And unfortunately I rang that bell three times.
Speaker 1 (24:58):
Wow, three times.
Speaker 2 (24:59):
You put ketchup on a hot dog at the stadium
that's embarrassing. I like the bell of shame if you
put ketchup on a hot dog. We don't infringe upon
people's rights.
Speaker 7 (25:09):
But.
Speaker 1 (25:10):
You know we ought to mock you a little bit. No,
what is it, Clint Eastwood? Nobody puts ketchup on a
hot dog?
Speaker 6 (25:16):
That's right?
Speaker 1 (25:19):
Is that in the first one or the second one
or bolt?
Speaker 6 (25:21):
I think it was the second one. Magnum Fortes so good.
Speaker 2 (25:25):
You know, all the crime in the city of San
Francisco and the thugs and the system, that doesn't make
me sick. What really makes me sick is watching you eat.
Speaker 1 (25:34):
Those hot dogs. Nobody puts ketchup on a hot dog.
So great.
Speaker 6 (25:42):
Now, that doesn't bother for me. Do you know what
does bother me?
Speaker 13 (25:46):
Well, you know what makes me really sick to my stomach?
What it's watching you stuff your face with those hot dogs. Nobody,
I mean, nobody puts ketchup on a hot dog.
Speaker 6 (25:57):
What the hell are you talking about?
Speaker 7 (25:58):
It?
Speaker 2 (26:02):
Eleven now in front of four o'clock, Dirty Harry and
lou Penrod together on the third of July.
Speaker 1 (26:10):
Nobody puts ketchup on a hont dog. He said it.
Speaker 7 (26:13):
When I was a kid, I only ate hot dogs
with ketchup on it. That was until I learned my
dad was a meat specter and found out what went
into him.
Speaker 1 (26:21):
Oh, we've been hearing about that for a long time.
The hot dogs are fine.
Speaker 2 (26:25):
And if you think that there's something wrong with the
hot dog, then go with Hebrew National.
Speaker 1 (26:32):
Can't go wrong with that. They answer to a higher authority.
Speaker 12 (26:36):
Lou. The best part of a hot dog are the nitrates. Yeah,
power to the nitrates. Put more in. They taste great.
Then oh yeah, you gotta have that ketchup with the
corn syrup and the food coloring. Come on, Lou, get
those chemicals in that hot dog. I mean, what could
be healthier? On July fourth? Hey, all right, love your
show and happy fourth of July.
Speaker 6 (26:55):
From where am i?
Speaker 12 (26:57):
Oh yeah, Cokefille, Wyoming. Yeah, nice town, and we can
get you out here on iHeart.
Speaker 6 (27:02):
Thanks Lou. Bye.
Speaker 1 (27:03):
Look at that listening on the iHeartRadio app in Wyoming.
Speaker 2 (27:06):
Yeah, there's nitrates in hot dogs, but there's nitrates in salami.
Speaker 1 (27:10):
And look at the Italians.
Speaker 2 (27:11):
The Italians live the longest, they have the longest average
life expectancy, and they eat salami, they eat pepperoni, they
eat I mean, what do you think is in like proshoot?
That's all That's all they eat is dried sausage. It
filled with nitrates. So maybe they're you know, they may
(27:32):
have been lying to us about the nitrates. Hey, speaking
of health, do you know what's in now?
Speaker 1 (27:37):
I was surprised to see this and this goes good
with the hot dog too. Now I lost it.
Speaker 2 (27:41):
Oh, sour kraut. Sour kraut is all the rage. Now,
it's all the rage because of Robert F.
Speaker 1 (27:49):
Kennedy Junior. Bobby Kennedy only eats fermented vegetables. He eats
a lot of steak.
Speaker 2 (27:55):
He's one of these ribbi guys, one of these Joe Rogan,
Jillian Michael's, uh, Jenna Jamison. They all just eat two
ribbis a day and butter and coffee and every once
in a while we'll have a couple of blueberries. But
Bobby Kennedy also does the fermented vegetable and most of
that is sour kraut because who can ferment themselves, right,
(28:17):
And there's not many fermented vegetables available, So he eats
a lot of sauer kraut and his stomach is very
gut healthy. And now I guess a Commerce Secretary Howard
Ludnik is doing it. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, and he's
in good shape.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
Jade Vance looks great. He's doing the same thing too.
Speaker 2 (28:34):
So they're all eating fermented vegetables, mostly sour kraut. So
that's really healthy for you, which is amazing to me,
mister Finnity, because the first time we are introduced to
Augustas Gluck.
Speaker 1 (28:50):
In the nineteen seventy one hit film Willy.
Speaker 2 (28:53):
Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, he's in a restaurant eating
sauer kraut.
Speaker 1 (28:58):
Yes, like, shove it into his mouth.
Speaker 7 (29:02):
Now.
Speaker 1 (29:02):
He's also eating a bunch of German sausages, but he
eat a lot of saur kraft.
Speaker 6 (29:08):
Yah, and he does.
Speaker 1 (29:09):
He does not look like he's got.
Speaker 6 (29:10):
Healthy, that's true. He doesn't true.
Speaker 2 (29:14):
I mean he won he found the Golden ticket and
all the reporters are there, and he's in a restaurant
and he's.
Speaker 1 (29:19):
With his mom.
Speaker 2 (29:20):
I I think his dad owned the restaurant. Maybe, I'm
not sure if his father was a like in that industry,
but Augustas could not stop eating, and he was eating
sauer kraut like it was going out of style, and
he was not healthy. He was he was one of
the mortal sins, right. That that's the thing all those
kids all had. They represented, you know, the mortal sins, right,
(29:43):
and his was gluttoning, right, So that's how how they got,
you know, all those problem kids.
Speaker 6 (29:49):
But he was eating.
Speaker 2 (29:49):
I just remember that was the first thing I heard
when I saw When I saw that, Bobby Kennedy is saying,
you should be eating sauer Kraut.
Speaker 1 (29:56):
I'm like, what about Augustas He wasn't healthy now he
ate other things.
Speaker 2 (30:01):
Yeah, and he drank from the chocolate river with his hands,
and that's not good. It's not good for him because
there's no place to wash your hands, and also not
good for a mister Wonka who had to drain everything
and sanitize it. I guess, Oh no, that was the hood.
You had the fizzy lifting drinks. They touched the hood.
And why would the exhaust hood need to be sanitized.
Nobody's eating off the exhaust hood. Did you catch that
(30:24):
in the movie? That was bad scriptwriting. It would have
to be washed, I guess, but it would not have
to be sanitized.
Speaker 6 (30:30):
That's true. You can make a good point. He just
ruined the movie for all the kids.
Speaker 2 (30:34):
Now, well, I mean so inconsistencies bothered me. I can't
suspend this belief like that. I can suspend this belief
with Loopa Lumpus, but I can't suspend this belief when
mister Wonk is angry because they touched the exhaust hood.
Speaker 1 (30:47):
And now it has to be sanitized.
Speaker 2 (30:49):
But he was a little eccentric anyways, so maybe he
would sanitize the exhaust so the world would be clean.
Speaker 1 (30:56):
That maybe that was it.
Speaker 6 (30:57):
For my hot dogs, I either do.
Speaker 1 (31:00):
Or a chili dog, mustard chili dog.
Speaker 2 (31:03):
I get, it's a little sloppy. I honestly would rather
have a sloppy Joe than a chili dog. It's hard
to get enough chili on a chili dog without it
being a complete mess, and then ultimately you're gonna need
a fork, So why not just eat chili? I never
supported the Chicago dog. It doesn't look good. It's I
don't know what's going on. There's too many things involved.
(31:25):
You're laying long pickles next to the hot dog. It's
a Chicago dog is more like a sausage, like a Polish sausage.
I'd rather have kebasi and Sauer kraut on a plate.
So well, if you're from the Midwest, I understand it's cultural,
but just objectively, Chicago dog not a thing for me.
