Speaker 2 (00:04):
We are live in San Diego. Thank you for tuning in.
Good to have you along with us. Happy Friday. It's

Speaker 1 (00:14):
Some of the items we discussed this past week, some
of the items in the news that I didn't cover.
You want to bring up for discussion. Maybe you have
some thoughts you want to share, or a critique of me.
Ask me a personal question, criticize, call and yell and
scream and hang up on me.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
It's all good.
Speaker 1 (00:30):
It's wide open eight hundred, six hundred cogo eight hundred,
six hundred five six four six. And if you're listening
live on the iHeartRadio app, you can call us using
the talkback Mike Asklu.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Anything starts right now. We are on the air. You're here.
It's light down the street. Your favorite radio station. Somehow
this ain't told Mike Cony heead in mind radio God, No.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
No, you know what, Penrose, you're a punk.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
Call us that way, shoot it in and we'll we'll
get it.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
A lou Big fan. I'm a migrant from the Marshall Islands.
I'm a foreigner and I've been done correctly and righteously
and proud by the United States of America. I love
your shore, lou We're not all that bad and I'm
legal Marshall Islands.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
Look it up now I know where the Marshall Islands is.
Thank you for that.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
And I never said you were bad at all.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
I love My dad was.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
A non US born Americans.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
It's not that much of an ask to have people
come from.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
Wherever they want it from, you know, wherever, wherever their
teeming shores are like wherever.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
But just apply and qualify.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
And I don't even know that you really have to
assimilate that much. I mean my dad tried to assimilate,
but he still had a broken English accent.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
I mean he didn't oppose the simulation.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
My parents they refrained from as soon as we were born,
My brother and I they spoke Italian, but they my
mom spoke English. She was born here, but she spoke
Italian with and my dad didn't speak English very well
at all, but they spoke English in the house because
they didn't want us speaking Italian, because they didn't want
us to look.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
Like, you know, foreigners in elementary school.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
So we were raised My brother and I knew what
everybody was saying, and we did speak Italian as a kid.
But yeah, I mean they wanted to assimilate. So yeah,
I'm not down on foreigners. I come from foreigners. My
dad was a foreigner. So I love the melting pot
that is the United States. All I ask is that
you follow the rules, that's all. And it sounds like
(02:50):
you did, so you and I are on the same side.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
Welcome to America.
Speaker 4 (02:55):
I I'd like to complain about your dianetic advertisements.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
That's from the Church of Scientology.
Speaker 4 (03:01):
They're a cult and this is dangerous material.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
Yeah, you know what the definition of a cult is.
It's the church down the street from yours. But I
can't control who buys ad time. Why wouldn't you buy
ad time on the lou Penrose Show.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
Have you seen my numbers? We're reaching everybody.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
I mean, we're beating the Padre station in Men. So
you guys that are advertising big bucks on that backfield fence,
you're going to get far more audience on this show
three to six. But anyway, Uh, there's nothing wrong with
learning about dynatic I wanted to read Dynatics and I
(03:40):
actually bought the book in college because the commercials were
on TV all the time, and as you know, I
spent most of my life as a young person watching
TV and you see those commercials and I'm like, what
is this book all about?
Speaker 2 (03:53):
And it's such a hypnotic. Ad that did the thirty
second TV spot was hypnotic.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
So I got the book. I couldn't get through the
first chapter. It's very hard to read.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
I mean, you think, you know, Atlas Shrug is a
difficult read.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
Dynatics is a hard read, but people like it and
it's you know, it works for Tom Cruise, So whatever
whatever gets you through the.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
Night, Lou.
Speaker 5 (04:19):
The best deal by far for French fries is through
the McDonald's app, where you get a dollar ninety nine
large fry in your deals every single day.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
Yeah, I am not going to download every single app
and constantly do that. I mean I have I have
the Dell Taco app already, and every time the Anaheim
Angels get a home run, my phone goes off. So
it's too much interaction with the app. And I'm not
you know, I'm not like sixteen years old. So I
(04:54):
just wait for the special and go in there and
ask for the special.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
But you're right. If you download the iHeartRadio AP, if.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
You download the McDonald's app, then every day is French
Fri day.
Speaker 6 (05:04):
Hey, hypothetical for you, lou. So, this anchor baby has
dual citizenship and he commits some heinous crime somewhere, does
that mean he's subject to our laws and we can
just go pluck him out of wherever he is and
in the world if he did something so bad, we
heard about it and should be alright, Hey, take care,
bye bye.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
So good question. An anchor baby would not have dual citizenship.
An anchor baby would be an American. That's the irony
of it. The anchor baby is not of Guatemala, even
though his parents are Guatemalan and had the baby illegally
in the United States, So you can't be in. The
(05:48):
only way an anchor baby can become a dual citizenship
a dual citizen is once that anchor baby turns eighteen,
they can apply for citizenship in any country. I guess
they wish to become a citizen. It might be easiest
there in the baby's parents' home country. But the Supreme
(06:11):
Court ruling is going to be problematic for us. And
I told you when it came down. I am okay
with the final word. I see that President Trump wants
to take another swing at it.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
You can do that. You can't try the same.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
Case trice twice, but you can go after it in
a different way, and I think you should because this
is going to be a real problem for us.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
The Supreme Court said, look, the.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
Way the Amendment is written, it doesn't say slaves, even
though everybody presumes that's it, and you may, I do,
but it doesn't say slaves, and it says natural.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
Born US soil.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
So it works for the illegal alien having a baby here.
So we need to be very vigilant on people that
are applying for a visitor's visa while pregnant. And I
have no problem with restrictions on people that are, you know,
(07:08):
coming to see Disneyland or whatever they're saying they're coming
to and they also just happen to be pregnant, and
they're from you know, third world nations or nations of
concern that we have problems with illegal immigration.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
We can certainly put those restrictions on.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
Yeah, why don't you stay there in Uganda and have
the baby, and then once the baby is born, then
you can come to Disney World.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
That's the way we're going to do it. So thank
you for the application.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
You're welcome to come visit after the baby is after
the baby's born. That's the way I think we're gonna
have to go going forward.
Speaker 4 (07:41):
You probably offend a lot of people, Is it possible.
Speaker 7 (07:45):
Have you ever been offended?
Speaker 2 (07:46):
Has anybody ever offended you? Yes?
Speaker 1 (07:49):
I am very offended when adults use the term retard.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
I don't like it. I find it to.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
Be very unkind, and I really really don't like hearing it.
It is offensive to me someone that is born with
a disability like mental retardation.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
That's not funny.
Speaker 1 (08:16):
And for an adult when kids do it, kids are
too dumb to know what they're doing. I mean, I'll
scream at my son's if they ever do it. They
don't do it, they know. I hate that term. I
just find that to be for an adult to refer
to something, Oh, that's so stupid, that's retarded, that is
so unkind, And I don't like it.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
So that's the biggest thing that offends me. Don't they
get jobs like the rest of us.
Speaker 8 (08:46):
My god, I feel like I need to go to
Las Vegas.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
Come on, people, were getting dumber and m.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
Lou Penrose on news radio six hundred COBO doing ask Lou.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
Anything, Hey Lou is a white man. I'm offended every
time I see a cracker barrel.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
Yeah, see, that's not tonight show level comedy. I have
no problem with the audience getting in on the game
and the content creation, but it's got to be it's
got to be Tonight's show material.
Speaker 9 (09:26):
Have we forgotten the old scripture, he who is without
sin cast the first stone.
Speaker 10 (09:32):
We are all.
Speaker 9 (09:33):
Fallible, and we need to be able to.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
Chill out and just recognize these.
Speaker 11 (09:37):
People for what they've done that are on the good side,
and focus on the.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
Goodness, not the negative. Leave things where they are and
let it ride.
Speaker 9 (09:46):
Love a show.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
I agree with you one hundred percent. That's one of
my favorite scenes in the movie.
Speaker 1 (09:53):
Right they're all chasing the girl outside who was caught
in an act of adultery, and they're picking up stones.
As a kid, I never knew what stoning was, and
I guess they just throw rocks at you until you die,
which sounds pretty rough. But they just kept saying, you know,
to be stone, that person should be stone. He will
(10:15):
be stoned if he does this, he gets stoned. And
I was a kid because I watched all the Jesus
movies and all the Moses movies too. Ben Her and
that was my favorite scene in Jesus of Nazareth and
Jesus sitting down on the dirt and the ripe.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
They're setting them up. They're like, hey, Rabbi, we want
your opinion.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
You know, knowing that the scriptures calls for her to
be stoned to see if he would contradict the scripture.
They were trying to get him. They were trying to
get him. They finally got him, but not at this
moment and without contradictoring, without contradicting the law of Moses.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
He said, he among you, who is without sin, you
go first.
Speaker 1 (10:57):
It was a show stopper, right, mister Finny, I mean,
was a dramatic pause in the movie.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
It's great.
Speaker 7 (11:02):
It's great in that version, great terror told. It's it's
one of the highlight scenes of that of the Bible story.
Is such a good reaction line.
Speaker 12 (11:10):
I mean, uh, that's like, I mean, that was that
was a that was that was great and it still
works today, right, Like it's still a great retort to
anybody that wants to pass judgment.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
So yeah, I'm with you. Love that movie, Lou.
Speaker 13 (11:28):
You know you confused Nathan Fletcher with the Fletcher family
who developed Fletcher Hills.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
He sounded like, you don't even know the history of
live here.
Speaker 1 (11:37):
Uh well, I was joking, But if I have to
explain the joke, it's not fun, mister finnerty, see what happens.
Speaker 2 (11:43):
I just get it. They don't get it some of us.
Speaker 1 (11:49):
You see, they named the road after Chase Chase says
our Chavez, and they took it down because of transgressions.
And we have this road called Fletcher Parkway, and I
referred to it as Nathan Fett Fletcher Parkway, and then
suggests that maybe we should change the name of that road,
as if there's a sign up that says Nathan Fletcher
(12:10):
park that's see, that's that's comedy. But if you have
to explain it, you ruined it. Now, you ruined a
good little bit that I had going.
Speaker 2 (12:17):
And I just learned that you'd went to gay bars.
Can you please elaborate?
Speaker 1 (12:23):
Sure I didn't go to gay bars. Well that's not
completely true. I mean I went to bars that cater
to the gay community.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
I lived in Palm.
Speaker 1 (12:31):
Springs, so I would go to all the bars, but
I would go to Hunters.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
A lot because my roommate was gay.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
She would and so we would go out together and
she liked to go to Hunters because that's where the
gay At that time, it was a big bar.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
Now every bar in Palm Springs is gay.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
I don't even know why they call them gay bars anymore,
but it's it's just a bar, like you don't have
to be gay to go, and to be perfectly honest
with you, it's much nicer like a dive bar. There's
a bar in Pump Springs that I used to go
to on the weekends because it was a few open
like late on Sunday nights, and you know, I was
(13:14):
always off by Sunday night. Sunday night was the one
night that I actually had to myself. I would do
some shopping, grocery shopping, and get laundry done and you know,
just need to be out of the house and just
need a beer. And there's a bar in the North
End called Toucans, which I think caters to the gay community,
but I just like it because it was you know
what they have in gay bar like everything works in
(13:36):
a gay bar. Everything's clean. They have the right glasses
for everything. They actually have pretzels and peanuts on the
counter like in a bar. The uh you know behind
the bar, it's immaculately clean. I like that the restrooms
are clean. It's all well maintained. You go into way
quote unquote straight bar, you know, gang signs and gang
(13:56):
symbols carved into the toilet seat cigarette burns. No gay
establishment would stand for a toilet seat with cigarette burns
on it.
Speaker 2 (14:07):
We're like busted soap dispenser. So they're just really nice.
But I mean, I hope that answers the question.
Speaker 13 (14:18):
Hey, Lou, did you know ironized Cody wasn't actually a
Native American. I honestly thought he was, but he was
the son of two first generation immigrants from Italy. In
nineteen twenty four he moved to California. He wasn't a
real Native American. I fell for those tears.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
Yeah, I saw that episode of The Sopranos, and I
didn't know if that was creative license for the episode
or if that was an actual fact in the Sopranos.
The Ta to the Professor, that's gonna stage the Christopher
Columbus protest at lu Costello Park says that it's not true,
(14:54):
so you're saying it is true. So I don't know
if you just watched the Sopranos like I did, or
if it's true. But I do remember the keep America
Beautiful ads were very, very effective, and what we need
to do is reprise them and air them here in
San Diego on the ABC, NBC, CBS affiliate, Fox affiliate
(15:17):
KUSI we need to have those puppet service announcements that
just say keep Interstate eight going eastbound beautiful.
Speaker 6 (15:29):
How much longer do we have to listen to this
crap about soccer.
Speaker 2 (15:33):
San Diego Pride is coming up, and I just need
a break.
Speaker 13 (15:40):
I love Lou.
Speaker 4 (15:41):
I'm gonna have to step up at the dispensary before
he gets home.
Speaker 1 (15:48):
It's Lou Penrose on news Radio six Hundric Cogo and
on the iHeartRadio app doing ask Lou anything.
Speaker 8 (15:55):
I feel like I need to go to Las Vegas
because the casinos here are us not hitting like Vegas both.
Speaker 1 (16:02):
Well, I think the odds are the same, but the
casinos here in San Diego are closer. And if you're
having an unlucky spell, changing cities won't help you. I
know this, just like changing casinos won't help you. Really,
changing slot machines is the only thing that helps you.
(16:23):
Like if you're if you're if you're not hitting, then
move slot machines. If you're not getting dealt any any
picture cards, then just move tables. But you don't have
to switch cities because it's a it's the same fifty two.
Speaker 14 (16:37):
Cards now, Lou, You're absolutely right when you say how
much can it process after a few martinis or after
a few drinks. That's the real factor right there. Humans
make poor decisions. Humans don't pay the pay attention. It's
bad decision making. Where that computer is going to make
the right choice and the safe choice every That's it.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
That's why I say, way mo, me home, driver a
lo people like.
Speaker 4 (16:59):
Shock con or in the rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a joke.
I am nominating right now the Scorpions, which are also
a Hall of Fame type band that deserve to be
in the rock and roll Hall of Fame. Anyways, see
a later pollinator.
Speaker 2 (17:16):
He's out home, slie.
Speaker 15 (17:19):
Hey, Lou, It's Brian from Tumacula. Anyway, Happy Friday. I'm
commenting on the trash situation. It really is just a
reflection of the lack of general respect for one another
we have in society nowadays. It's really not that complicated.
Speaker 13 (17:31):
You know.
Speaker 15 (17:32):
I lived in China for four months and I can
tell you one thing. There was never any trash on
the side of the road or on the sidewalks. And
don't even mention to buy you don't dare a litter
over there. Anyway, I'm Brian, have a great weekend. Thanks back, Hey, Brian.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
I appreciate the call right And certainly there are cultures
where people do not litter, and I talk about Japan
all the time because they take it and it really
isn't taking it to an extreme when you think about it.
If they're eating out of their house, they take a
small little ziploc bag or it did not be a ziplock,
(18:04):
but depending on what the rubbish is. But let's say
they're taking an apple that I can eat the whole apple.
You're not supposed to eat the core. Those seeds could
kill it. So they take a little ziploc bag, put
the apple core in the ziploc bag and then put
it back in their purse or whatever and wait till
they go home and put it in their own trash.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
Like that's kind of nice.
Speaker 1 (18:24):
And you don't have to go to Japan to find
that level of cleanliness. As I said, in the Pacific Northwest,
like in Oregon, you'll never see trash on the road.
Speaker 2 (18:35):
You just don't.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
Empty paper cups from Del Taco out their window.
Speaker 2 (18:42):
It just doesn't happen.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
And to be fair, it doesn't happen everywhere in San
Diego along the interstate. It does from time to time,
but you're talking about a lot of people, right, there's
gonna be a bad apple that spoils the bunch. The
story was why on the eighth in East County because
it's really and the couchrans folks just can't keep up
(19:04):
because of the story.
Speaker 2 (19:05):
It was a news ape story.
Speaker 1 (19:08):
Alex Lie went out there and she contacted count trans
and they said, no, it's not We're on the same
schedule that.
Speaker 2 (19:13):
We're on every other thoroughfare.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
It's just that it comes back faster here than anywhere
else in the county.
Speaker 2 (19:23):
So there's something going on. But I appreciate the call.
Speaker 9 (19:26):
Hey, Lou, I just want to say that check in
the box should never stop selling their tacoms. I have
been buying them for over forty years and I love them.
They are delicious.
Speaker 3 (19:39):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (19:40):
I appreciate the call. I agree with you. I think that.
Speaker 1 (19:45):
Look I've called for the pair and down of all
these menus. I could solve all of fast Food's problems
if they would just listen to me, and.
Speaker 2 (19:52):
That is, get back to basics. It's amazing to me that.
Speaker 1 (19:56):
In and Out is doing so well in Southern California
that they now opening up locations in Tennessee, and like
they're branching out, they're gonna expand and go nationwide, and
they will ultimately be a nationwide brand, and I'm sure
they'll be just as successful as they have been here
in Southern California. They open up an in and out Burger,
and it's a news event in San Diego County right now.
(20:21):
At any In and Out it's what five thirty eight
in San Diego, the drive through is wrapped around, and
at eleven thirty tonight it'll be wrapped around.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
My seventeen year.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
Old will wait twenty minutes for a double double Fries Minnesota,
there's an in and Out.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
Not too far from my house.
Speaker 1 (20:39):
And it's hilarious because I was There's a Del Taco
on the other side of the street, and I was
getting food. It was after a game a couple of
weeks ago, and everybody wanted Del Taco, but my youngest
really just wanted in and out. So we took a
family vote and he lost, and he was sad. But
I am such a great dad, so I'm like, you
(20:59):
know what I'm to do.
Speaker 2 (21:00):
I'm gonna go. I'll make two trips. They're right across
the street from each other, and I'll.
Speaker 1 (21:04):
Get everybody's Del Taco order, and I'll grab the baby.
The baby's thirteen, but he's the baby. I'll get the
baby a double double.
Speaker 2 (21:12):
I went in there.
Speaker 1 (21:13):
There's no way I was gonna get in that drive
through line because once you're locked in, you can't get out.
Speaker 2 (21:17):
I went inside. It was like a zoo in there.
It was like forty people, everybody waiting on line. I'm like,
what's going on?
Speaker 1 (21:27):
So I get the one double double, walk across the street,
go to the Deltaco. Place is empty, not a car
in the parking lot, not a person in the dining room.
Lonely guy the Maytag repair man was my drive through guy,
and I'm thinking, if I was hungry, I would not
wait in this drive through line for a double double.
(21:47):
I'd go across the street and get a double Dell.
Or I just decide, you know what, I'm getting myself
a red burrito, Like.
Speaker 2 (21:56):
I'm not gonna wait. It's not that much of a delicacy,
So simplify the menu.
Speaker 1 (22:01):
And I've said this now for Jack in the Box
and Carls Junior, Uh Burger King's a huge mess with
all their chicken and sour dough and right, So I've
said that with the one exception of Jack in the
Box is keep the tacos. It's a heritage item, it's
a signature item. They can do it as a loss leader.
I think right now through.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
Did it end? I don't know if it's it's it's
it might end.
Speaker 1 (22:26):
Sunday they are celebrating seventy five years of Jack in
a Box. You can get two of those Jack in
the Box tacos for seventy five.
Speaker 2 (22:33):
Cents the lot onto the app and it's still going off. Right,
that's a deal. And they're yummy so and they're San
Diego based, so I agree with you. That's the only thing.
Speaker 1 (22:48):
Like, get rid of the egg rolls, get rid of
the sour dough, get rid of all these you know,
weirdo creations, and get back to doing what Jack in
the Box does well, which is delicious burgers. The al
I'm a cheeseburger delicious. You can't improve upon it.
Speaker 2 (23:03):
Stop coming up with new ideas.
Speaker 1 (23:05):
Just do that really well. Same thing with Burger King.
The word burger is in the name. You got the
best double cheeseburger out.
Speaker 2 (23:12):
There, thank you, talk about it right.
Speaker 1 (23:16):
About the the chicken marinera sauce, now chicken.
Speaker 7 (23:21):
Bread Burger King, you don't want chicken. Burger King, Hello,
you're king of burgers. You don't need chicken, right, you
don't need chicken.
Speaker 2 (23:30):
They have like chicken fries. No, what are you doing?
Oh when was the last time you had a Burger
King double cheeseburger. It'll knock your socks off. It's so good,
so good, And you know why. The sign up above
says Burger King. That makes sense. These are great burgers.
This guy's the king of burgers.
Speaker 1 (23:53):
So yes, I do support Jack in the Box keeping
the tacos, but that's it. Everything else should be round
with a bond with the dressing on it and pickles
and whatever you're gonna do, but it should be a
burger and leave the chicken for all the other chicken people.
Speaker 9 (24:14):
There's something in rice and pasta they get some kind
of nasty bacteria.
Speaker 2 (24:23):
Let's just say meow so sad, Lou get it together.
Speaker 1 (24:37):
Lou Penrose on News Radio six hundred co Go Quick Programming. Note,
I am on family vacation next week. I'll be out
Monday through Friday, and you'll be in good hands. Some
of your favorite talk show hosts will be filling in
for Lou Penrose.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
And that's all I'm gonna say.
Speaker 1 (24:58):
But we have received a lot of calls, and I
think next week we'll save any wounds and answer all
your questions.
Speaker 2 (25:08):
How's that for a tease, mister Finny.
Speaker 7 (25:11):
Putting the pressure on the fillins. Putting the pressure on
the fill ins.
Speaker 3 (25:14):
Right.
Speaker 1 (25:15):
These will be voices that you are familiar with, and
you will be very pleased with the selection of a
host that we have to cover the show while while
I'm on the what may very very well be the
last family vacation with the whole family. You know, my
wife's said, you know she's a she's really working this
(25:35):
because my son will go into his senior year of
high school. Everybody's moving up next year, will be a
sophomore from my middle the baby goes into what seventh grade? Man,
oh man, it's going fast. And so my wife was
looking at the timeline and decided we got to get
these family vacations in. I want everybody to take a photograph.
(25:56):
I want to get these memories because it's going fast.
So I just obey and pay the credit card bill.
But we'll have a lot of fun.
Speaker 11 (26:05):
Really though, the cigarette butts are horrible litter for our environment,
and it would be really helpful if broke California would
enforce the thousand dollars littering fine for cigarette butts being
thrown everywhere.
Speaker 10 (26:21):
That helped out a couple of things.
Speaker 2 (26:23):
Yeah, I agree with you.
Speaker 1 (26:24):
I don't know if you're going to be able to enforce,
like I have to actually catch somebody flicking a cigarette
butt on the ground.
Speaker 7 (26:29):
How you're gonna do a high speed chase because he
flicked the butt out the window of the car.
Speaker 2 (26:33):
I don't see it.
Speaker 1 (26:35):
I know, I this has to be social pressure. Social
pressure works. We don't always eat the cops. That's why
I'm a big fan of mocking, like we can all
you know, sneer and say, yo, bro, pick that up.
Speaker 2 (26:51):
You can do that up in La.
Speaker 1 (26:52):
But don't be throwing your cigarette butts on the ground
here in San Diego like we should be doing that.
Speaker 2 (26:57):
I Loue, you were ninety percent of the way to
the answer. Trashy people beget trash, right, But cleanliness begets cleanliness.
Speaker 1 (27:04):
That's why I want the graffiti down the very next day,
like Joe Clark in Lean On Me, graffiti goes up,
I want it scrubbed by Reverend Sloppy, and I want
it down the very next day. Because cleanliness begets cleanliness,
and tidiness begets tidiness, and good stewardship of our environment
and good stewardship of our city streets begets more of it.
Speaker 2 (27:27):
So it works both ways.
Speaker 1 (27:30):
People see trash on the ground, they don't think too
much of being trashy. People see no trash on the
ground and it being cleaned up constantly, and you know,
you get a cleaner society.
Speaker 4 (27:42):
The flag is called the flag of the United States
of America.
Speaker 2 (27:45):
It's not the American flag. That's a good point tell
about the FIFA.
Speaker 16 (27:49):
This is regarding subway charging for toasting bread. Years ago,
when I used to eat the five dollars foot long
at a subway in Bishop, California, they would charge you
to toast the bread, but if you would head up
to the Mammoth location, they wouldn't do so, and I
always thought that was odd.
Speaker 1 (28:09):
Yeah, it's a long way to drive for a toasted
sub Are we going to be able to fly into
Bishop out of Palomar soon? I saw that despite all
the protests, the airlines got their way at least with
the Coastal Commission, and they're going to extend the runway
and United and American are move it in. And one
(28:31):
of the locations that I think some of these boutique
airlines are going to.
Speaker 2 (28:36):
Go to is Bishop.
Speaker 1 (28:39):
I'll go to Mammoth if I can fly out of
San Diego to Bishop, and it's a really nice plane.
So hopefully that they'll get that done, you know, before
November of next year.
Speaker 15 (28:55):
Feathers and onion skins are acceptable to land on the roadway.
Speaker 1 (29:00):
Yeah, but it's not acceptable to toss them out of
the window of the car.
Speaker 2 (29:03):
That's a real food.
Speaker 13 (29:04):
I take the work I spread it on the ground
where I work with the funny rabbits and.
Speaker 2 (29:09):
Whatever else shows up, you know, take care of the animals.
I'm sure the boss is in love with you.
Speaker 13 (29:14):
Oh.
Speaker 3 (29:15):
Speaking of their naked bike riding, are you aware of
that later on they have an auction for the sheets.
Speaker 1 (29:20):
Oh my yeah, I can only imagine. But you know,
there's a customer for everything out there. Somebody's bidding on
the bike seats in the naked bike Ride festival in Europe.
Speaker 2 (29:36):
Blue.
Speaker 10 (29:36):
My wife's father is an ex marine from the Korea
and Vietnam era, and at eighty eight years old, he
used to sit on our stairs outside smoking and flicking
cigarette butts into our neighbor's little planter box, and then
I had to get out there and clean them up
all the time.
Speaker 14 (29:53):
I sympathize with you greatly on that.
Speaker 10 (29:55):
I don't want to have to do that.
Speaker 1 (29:57):
No, I don't want to have to do it either.
And there is no such thing as an ex marine.
You are a former marine, former marine, or just a marine.
You can't be an ex marine. But uh, yeah, there
is something I don't know if it's early learned behavior,
like they don't flick other things and of all things.
(30:19):
Everybody knows that a filter of a cigarette doesn't dissolve
and it's bad and the dog always smells it. So yeah,
I'm I'm always picking up cigarette butts on the walk
with the dog and I hate doing it.
Speaker 2 (30:32):
I probably should be wearing gloves, I guess, but I
just can't stand it.
Speaker 1 (30:35):
And you know, we live in the coastal zone, so
everything winds up in the ocean.
Speaker 2 (30:40):
What are people thinking?
Speaker 1 (30:41):
So good for you for cleaning out your neighbors, plant
the flower box, and good for me. Have yourself as
a fantastic week next week. I'll see you in a week.
Have a wonderful week at Loup Penrose on news radio
six hundred COGO and on the iHeartRadio AP
