Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's the weekend. It's gonna be a beautiful day today,
most of tomorrow is gonna be beautiful. They say. Late
in the day, there's gonna be some passing thunderstorms, showers.
You know that's gonna happen. Every time you start talking
about the weather too far out of the bad weather
sneaks into it. But this is nice to enjoy today.
(00:21):
Today is gonna be beautiful. Enjoy the day. In the
Big three, let's start with the mayor's race. Mayor Adams,
a former cop, gets endorsements from several law enforcement unions,
and matter of fact, most of them.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
Don't tell me about law enforcement over time, tell me
about how we brought down crime in the city.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
That's what ours. By the way, crime in the city
so far this year is the lowest it's been in history.
Killings this year the lowest have been in history. In
the latest polling, as you know, Harris comes in I
mean Adams comes in fourth, behind Mom, Donnie Cuomo and Sliwa,
(01:03):
who are locked in a statistical three way tie. Republican
Curtis Sliwa is very much in this race.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
The one thing everybody knows, you can buy rent leash
or own Kurtis Sliwa, the billionaires on all.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
Three of these candidates.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
You know who owns me, the spirit of my mother
and father, the blue collar working class, that's you. I
dedicate this shitty too when I become mayor.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
That's a great point. That's a great point. No scandals,
nothing in his past. Coming up at nine oh five,
Curtis Lee will be here live in Washington. Donald Trump
has been diagnosed with the condition that affects his veins
and cardiovascular system.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
This diagnosis is a progressive one, meaning that there's no
curative treatment or intervention. Sort certainly can lead to persistent swelling,
which can lead to persistent pain and difficulties with mobility
with at the age of seventy nine can be difficult
at the age of seventy nine, while also being the
president can a tremendous amount of work.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
Doctor Youngkatz Nelson from the Vein Clinic will be here
at nine twenty to explain what the president has and
how it is treated. And in East Rockaway in Nasa County,
over one thousand gallons of oil leaks into the Mill River.
Speaker 4 (02:19):
So it's everywhere on the boats of jet skis Like
now we're going to be responsible clean and it's like,
who's going to clean it now?
Speaker 1 (02:25):
This is a cooling area cooling oil and it's considered
non hazardous, but still affects wildlife and prevents people from swimming.
Psee ANDNG is responsible for the spill and they say
they are handling it. In the Senate, they voted to
cut funding for NPR Radio for being more political than
public radio.
Speaker 5 (02:46):
It's about the nine billion dollars that we're going to
save or ninety billion dollars in the tenure window, and
where I come from, that's still a lot of money.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
Another broadcast that is going to go away for being
too political, The Late Show with the Trump hating Stephen Colbert.
Speaker 6 (03:03):
It's not just the end of our show, but it's
the end of the Late Show on CBS. I'm not
being replaced. This is all just going away.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
Yeah, he killed the Late Show. Poor David Letterman who
created that. He just killed the Late Show. Stephen Colbert
just could not help himself. All across the country, they've
been trying to say to CNN, to MSNBC. Look, the
American people are rejecting this. You gotta change your ways.
(03:33):
This is new ownership. Just about everywhere saying you got
to change your ways. We want to make money, we
want people to like us, and they refuse, and so
what happens, Well, person after person is finding out what happens.
They end up losing their jobs and in this case,
entire franchise. They feel so bad for David Letterman. We're
(03:54):
going to talk more about that during the show. But
let's talk about what's going on in the mayoral election,
because a lot is happening. There's a whole lot of
moving parts going on. Zurr and mom Donni got a
big wake up call. So Zurah Mam Donni went down
to Washington right for that socialist breakfast where all the
(04:17):
crazies from Congress came to fawn over him.
Speaker 7 (04:20):
I think he's a very personal, smart young man.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
It's just beautiful to have someone who is so authentic.
Speaker 8 (04:29):
You know that money cannot buy that.
Speaker 7 (04:32):
Zora and Mandani is an incredible talent.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
Hard not to be won over. You have Alc and Zahura.
That's a winning combo.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
This guy is not a communist, he's not a socialist.
He's an advocate for a small capitalism. He says he's
a socialist if you ask him, he says, I'm a
democratic socialist. I'm a socialist. He doesn't try to hide it.
So don't cover that up. Don't say you met with
(04:59):
him and then you came away figuring, oh, he's not
a socialist. No, he is. Everything he says he's going
to do, free buses, government owned grocery stores, rent control
to the point where they can't. It's a rent freeze.
Everything he says he's going to do is socialist. And
(05:21):
he wants to go after the billionaires. And that's why,
by the way, and that's coming up, the billionaires will
not even meet with him. There was a meeting set
up and most of them didn't even show up. They
don't want to talk to him. He's going to find
out how important that is. When you're running a political campaign.
You got to watch out what you say. You got
(05:42):
to watch out when you tell these billionaires who all
own companies or run companies, or are responsible for the
finances of that company. It's really difficult when you tell them,
not only that is their personal income tax going to
be hit hard, but their corporate tax is going to
think they're gonna say, oh, like you, here's some money
(06:03):
takes a lot of money to run this campaign. He's
gonna find out the hard way. And it's one of
the reasons that Yeah, he gets AOC and he gets
Bernie Sanders. They love him, right, they get the he
gets the endorsement of them, but everybody else is keeping away,
including all the most powerful New Yorkers. Hochel no endorsement
(06:26):
right now, Schumer, no endorsement for mon Donnie. The guy
that's getting the most heat for that is Hakeem Jeffries.
We have TVs on here right now. I'm looking right
off the top. There are people going after Jeffries in
the hall, saying, what are you gonna When are you
gonna endorse mom Donnie? When are you gonna endorse mom Donnie?
(06:47):
When might that happen? And over and over again. He says,
you know, I'm not ready for that.
Speaker 6 (06:54):
Why are you not endorsing the guy that won the
Democratic primary in a contested election in your backyard.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
Well, I look forward to sitting down and talking to him.
Speaker 5 (07:02):
I didn't get involved in that primary election, and I
don't know him.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
Well, yeah, he keeps coming up from every with every
excuse from the world. I got to meet him. You know.
And by the way, in the past, they all everybody
I just talked about, all the Democrats jumped on immediately
if anybody wins the Democratic nomination, they automatically get their endorsement.
(07:25):
This time, it's even they're scared. Even the Democrats, even
left leaning Democrats who don't go as far as him,
are scared of what he says. It is interesting, though,
that Jeffries yesterday got up to give a speech when
(07:46):
they were talking about cuts to NPR and cuts to
usai D. He got up and started talking about affordability.
So a lot of the people that met, including Josh
Gotttheimer in New Jersey, that met with Mom Donnie the
other day, they didn't want to meet with him because
they were going to endorse him, or they liked his policies,
(08:08):
they liked his campaign. They thought he was onto something
when he talked about affordability, and now you're going to
listen to it. More and more Democrats are going to
talk about affordability because they believe that's why he won,
because he tapped into something of an issue that they
were ignoring. They've been searching for an issue. So Mom
(08:32):
Donnie at least gave the Democratic party a direction, but
they're going they're not going to talk about any of
the policies he did. So he had this meeting with
the billionaires, and many of them were supposed to be
there and didn't show up. Jamie Diamond is probably the
most famous who didn't show up. Some of the real
big ones didn't show up. Some people did show up
(08:53):
and met with him, including Loretta Hirsch and uh, it
was interesting what she had to say. And this is,
by the way, this is what a lot of people
say about him.
Speaker 9 (09:03):
They heard a really charming athbo guy who is well prepared.
He made jokes, he made self deprecating jokes. But they
did not hear someone who changed his policies. And so
if you had concerns about his economic policies going into
the meeting, you had the same concerns going out.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
That was very nice, that was very corporate. And what
she's saying is, there's no way in hell we're giving
this guy any money, because he's going to come after
all of our corporations and he's going to come after
our paychecks. And by the way, the Republican Party, they
are grabbing on to Ma Mom Donnie. They love it.
(09:40):
They won't stop talking about him. Watch Fox News. He
comes up every fifteen minutes. They want to paint the
Democratic Party with this guy. They're making him the leader
of the Democratic Party.
Speaker 10 (09:51):
It would be a disaster for New York and for
this country. And I think it's quite telling that this individual,
a known communist, has been spending time in walking this week,
meeting with leaders on Capitol Hill.
Speaker 1 (10:03):
Yeah, and you heard Cuomwoll grab on to this too,
how he's dangerous, how he's going to ruin the city.
You're going to hear more about that in the weeks
to come. It's going to be a fascinating election with
national ramifications, and we'll keep talking about it. In the meantime.
A well known NFL player says he likes when his
wife nags him. We'll tell you about that. Plus tickets
(10:25):
to see The Who at a local venue at AH
twenty five. Stay with us, Welcome back, listen. We love
your talkbacks. So and what's really important right now is
you know most of you were calling in to get
the Mente in the morning T shirt. I understand that.
I understand it's that valuable and everybody wants one, and
I understand you're the envy of your neighborhood. When you're
(10:47):
wearing one and we walk down the street, everybody notices.
So I get that. I understand the allure of that. Yeah,
it is. It's it's a big, big deal, and I
understand that how valuable they are. But also and we're
going to give one away today, So today is a
good day to leave a talkback. We're going to pick
(11:07):
the talk back of the week, and the talk back
of the week gets a Sea Crane radio. And the
Sea Crane radios are incredible, the clarity that you get,
the sound you get out of those, and the fact
that you can pick up stations all across the country
and you can listen to your podcast. You got a
remote control. So yeah, that we're gonna give away today
(11:29):
and you can get in on that and the talkback
of the morning by leavings leaving us a talk back
at seven to ten wo R on the iHeartRadio app
and you look for the talkback feature, hit the microphone
and then we're going to put you on the air.
So these are some great prizes, especially at Seacrane Radios.
And we also love to hear from you because you
(11:52):
make the show so much better and you inspire conversation.
Here's something you may want to talk about. Do God
bless you, Natalie, Thank you, God bless Do you know
who Jason Kelsey is? Oh no, no clue.
Speaker 8 (12:08):
Is he the brother of the other Kelsey's dating tellers Swift?
Speaker 1 (12:11):
That is, yes, he is. He's the brother of the
other Kelsey. He's the smart one of the two of them.
And Jason has become like a big star on his own.
Jason is a retired player, he's now a broadcaster. They
have one of the most the two of them together
have one of the most successful podcast in the country
(12:33):
that everybody comes on every single star. You can think
they just had Brad Pitt on the other day. Wow,
Yeah he was. He was funny. Those two are just
very funny and very real and you can get you
can listen to it. By the way, it's called New
Heights and it's on the iHeartRadio app. But he's making
news now because of something he said which was pretty amazing,
(12:57):
and he's probably hurting husbands all across the country. By
the way, his wife Kelsey does national TV adds she's
become a star in her own right because she's a trip.
Her name is Kelsey.
Speaker 8 (13:09):
I was thinking that too, is Kelsey Kelsey, Kelsey, Kelsey, Kylie.
Oh okay, that's still pretty Kylie Kelsey Kelsey.
Speaker 1 (13:17):
Yeah, Kylie Kelsey. That'd be great if it was Kelsey Kelcey.
That's actually a good name. But anyway, his wife, Kylie
is a trip. There's there's video of her when when
fans get too close and she's the one that gets
in their face. I've seen that. That's amazing, I know.
And she's tall, so she leans over these people. How
about the woman that tried to get them to take
(13:39):
a picture and they were in a hurry to go somewhere,
and the woman is drunk and she was there going,
you're embarrassing yourself. You're embarrassing yourself. So anyway, Jason Kelsey said,
and I think he heard husbands everywhere by saying this,
Jason Kelsey says that he loves when his wife nags him.
Huh yeah, he said, because sometimes he gets lost in
(14:02):
his own head and so he'll be laying there and
he'll forget all the things he's supposed to do. You know,
I can't believe these two do the chores. You know
how much money they have right now. That's a good point.
Speaker 8 (14:15):
But so that the nagging is just, you know, a
gentle reminder.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
Yeah, and she's like his calendar. And she even says,
I hate to have to do this. I hate to
have to tell you this that. And she she called
in to the show and she said, look, I do
good after him sometimes, but I apologize. I don't want
to have to. And he says, no, no, no, I'm
glad you do. He said, please nag the f out
of me. Tell me to get my lazy ass up
(14:42):
and take the trash out, take the damn trash out.
If you tell me to take the trash out, I'm
gonna be like, oh, I can't believe she has to
tell me to take the trash out. And then he
goes on to say, and this is pretty interesting. He said,
I've been coached all my life, so in a way,
I've been nagged all my life. I'm used to this.
I'm used to getting yelled at. I'm used to being
(15:04):
told I don't do things the right way. I'm used
to getting applause or accolades when I do it the
right way. Comfort zone, Yes, exactly. We'd take it not well,
not well at all. I, in fact hate it. I
think most people hate it. I think most people now
dislike him for coming out and saying he likes it.
(15:28):
He's a trader. Let's get the latest news at six
thirty with Jacqueline Carl Jackline.
Speaker 8 (15:34):
Good Morning, Larry. The House is approving nine billion dollars
in DOS spending cuts. Lawmakers voted to sixteen to two
thirteen to approve the cuts to public broadcasting, global health programs,
and foreign aid. This after Republican senators narrowly passed the
package Thursday. The bill canal head to President Trump's desk
for his signature, and New Jersey Governor Murphy is signing
(15:55):
legislation to boost pedestrian and cycling safety.
Speaker 7 (15:59):
Murphy was joined thanked Thursday by crash victims, advocates, and
local and state leaders in Maplewood.
Speaker 11 (16:04):
In the past year alone, more than six hundred and
ninety New Jersey families have lost someone in a traffic crash.
One loved, one taken is one love too many.
Speaker 7 (16:12):
He signed a bill that upgrades the state's driver's education program.
Speaker 11 (16:16):
By requiring drivers to be tested on how to safely
share the road with pedestrians and cyclists, including the rules
for passing them and the penalties for ignoring those laws.
Speaker 7 (16:27):
The MOMB builds upon Murphy's Target Zero Commission, which was
created earlier this year with the goal of eliminating all
preventable traffic related deaths by twenty forty. Kristen Marks wor News.
Speaker 8 (16:38):
Now we've talked about this on the show Tipping Fatigue.
How about this for tipping fatigue? This is the ultimate,
I think. According to bro Bible on Reddit, a user
posted a photo of a water fountain they encountered at
an Albany Airport in New York that had a QR
code to leave a tip. When asked for comment, the
(16:58):
CEO of fine tapp dot com, the company that owns
and installs the fountains, said the tipping idea was born
during COVID to help out workers who install and maintain
the machines. But it was a flop and they stopped
putting the stickers on them, though clearly some still remain.
How would you react if you and your family stopped
and you all wanted to get a drink out of
the water fountain and it.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
Wanted a timp? I would laugh.
Speaker 8 (17:23):
People. Do you think out of a hundred would do this.
Speaker 10 (17:27):
Zero right, yeah, I mean definitely zero.
Speaker 9 (17:31):
And you know what they're saying.
Speaker 7 (17:32):
You have to be careful of those QR codes now because.
Speaker 1 (17:35):
You don't know what you're downloading.
Speaker 8 (17:38):
Oh, they just take you to a website.
Speaker 1 (17:41):
Well yeah, if they take you to a website and
you click something, oh, I see, you're right. You have
to be careful. I will tell you. All the waiters
and the servers in the city just said.
Speaker 8 (17:52):
What are you saying if you're at a restaurant in
the street.
Speaker 1 (18:00):
But everybody does it these days. It is funny because
they're up there for everything. Every ad has has that
on there. Have to be careful what you're looking at
all right, No, nobody's gonna do it. But that's okay,
thanks so much, Jack Wa. Yeah right. President Trump has
a condition in his veins that required medical treatment, but
that didn't stop him from getting things done. We'll talk
(18:21):
about his condition next. And don't forget you can leave
us a talk back all morning long. You go to
seven ten woor on the iHeartRadio app and you just
click the microphone and when you're there, put seven to
ten woor on your presets. Plus you could win a
limited edition mente in the Morning t shirt, which you'll
be awarded every day to a favorite talkback of the morning. Well,
(18:42):
Donald Trump has given in he's going to release something
at least from the Epstein files. We're not ever going
to see the whole thing. Apparently there's just too many
legal problems. That was what it seems is the problem.
And also he would have to go through so many courts.
He's going to be tied up up in courts because
every time you go to release something, somebody is going
(19:02):
to sue and the judges have to decide. And in
many of these cases, the judges have control over the
files relating to a person. So I think they thought
it was going to be easier than it is, and
they really should have checked this all out before they
made any promises. So it's embarrassing to them, and I
(19:25):
think that's what you hear from Donald Trump, the frustration
from Donald Trump all the time. As a matter of fact,
even in his latest tweet where they're going to release
some of it, the grand jury stuff they're going to
try to release. They have to go to court first.
But if the courts say okay, they're going to try
to release some of the grand jury stuff, and this
is what he put out on truth social based on
(19:46):
the ridiculous amount of publicity given to Jeffrey Epstein, I
asked Attorney General Pam Bondi to produce any and all
pertinent grand jury testimony, subject court approval. We'll see that
if that relaxes the MAGA crowd. Because this all started
(20:08):
with MAGA getting upset on social media, and then the
Democrats jumped onto it. They said, oh, that's a good issue,
that's good. And the media jumped onto it too. And
you know, democrats in the media interchangeable, but they jumped
onto it too. And so Caroline Leavitt talked about it
yesterday and said, the President's just frustrated by this whole thing.
(20:29):
Here here, the guy, here, the guy secures the border
like in a weekend, for the first time in decades,
there might be peace in the Middle East. Crime is
way down across the country, gas prices are down, inflations low.
So everything that he talked about doing almost everything he promised,
(20:53):
one by one by one by one is either done
or getting done right, all of it. But the Epstein files,
that's the big one. Why haven't you done that? And
the fact that MAGA my mega friends gave the Democrats
this issue caused this headache for him. I don't think
(21:16):
he's really happy about I don't think he's happy about
it all. And you've heard the frustration when reporters asked
questions like, really, you want to talk about this. They'd
sometimes ask questions when he had a head of state
next to him, you know, and they were working out
some tariff deal or talking about peace in the Middle East,
and somebody brings up Epstein and I get it. I'd
(21:37):
get frustrated too. It was the first question one time
what he was like next to the president of Sudan,
And it was the first question out of the box.
And that's why he laid into the reporter that asked it.
But is this Caroline Levitt yesterday talking about the president's frustration.
Speaker 10 (21:58):
He has said, in agree with some of the leaders
on Capitol Hill, that if the Attorney General and the
Department of Justice come across any other credible evidence, they
should provide that to the American people. The President has said.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
That, yes, he did say that. He absolutely did say that.
Speaker 10 (22:13):
Esident has been transparent. He has followed through on his
promises to the American people. But he doesn't like to
see Democrats in the mainstream media covering this like it's
the biggest story that the American people care about.
Speaker 1 (22:25):
Well, they finally had something. They've been trying over and
over again to come up with some issue that they
could run on and that the American people would get
behind them on. And every single time they went after
the Doge cuts, and then the polls came out and
people were for the Doge cuts, and then they wanted
this around Kilmar Abrego Garcia as their savior, and everybody said, well,
(22:49):
that's really ridiculous. And then they went up against ice
officers and talked about how horrible the ICE officers are,
and then poll after Poul after Paul after Pol said yeah, no,
we like that. Then they said, well, you're you're being
too cruel to these immigrants, and then Paul after Paul
after Paul after Poul showed that no, no, no, the
people want those that are here illegally out of the country.
(23:11):
That's why they elected this guy. So they didn't have
an issue. They kept trying good morning right late and
the MAGA people, good morning to you, and the MAGA
people then gave them their issue. That's what they're so
frustrated about. That's what they get upset about. And that's
probably what cause the problem he's having. He probably got
(23:34):
so frustrated by this stupid Epstein thing that he ended
up with chronic venous insufficiency. By the way, that's the
first time I've ever heard about that. And what's amazing
about being the first time I ever heard about it
is now they're saying it's very common that that forty
percent of the people over a certain age you're going
(23:55):
to get it. You know, the older you get, the
chances are you're going to get this, well, a forty
percent chance of getting it. And it's something that I
had never really heard about. And I guess everybody started
to notice it from his hands. There was like a
blueness in his hands.
Speaker 10 (24:10):
Recent photos of the President have shown minor bruising on
the back of his hand. This is consistent with minor
soft tissue irritation from frequent handshaking and the use of aspirin,
which has taken as part of a standard cardiovascular prevention regiment.
Speaker 1 (24:25):
Yeah, I used to take aspirin all the time, just
because I heard that it's in your blood and it
was good for you. I stopped taking it only because
then I'd read some stuff and there were some other problems.
But he's apparently on a aspirin regiment and they're saying
that may have also contributed to this, and now he
has to go through treatment.
Speaker 12 (24:45):
We want to make sure that the underlying causes not
something really serious, So it is important for people out
there to go and get checked by a doctor. If
you have swolling, it doesn't go away, and simple changes
such as wearing compression socks, elevating your feet, or getting
some exercise and walking around can reduce and improved symptoms.
Speaker 1 (25:00):
And Caroline Levitt's talking about the treatment and the diagnosis
and letting the American people know that he's going to
be okay. He's just found out that he actually has this.
Speaker 10 (25:09):
The President underwent a comprehensive examination, including diagnostic vascular studies,
bilateral lower extremity that venus Doppler ultrasounds were performed and
revealed chronic venus insufficiency a benign in common condition.
Speaker 1 (25:27):
It is a benign in common condition in a lot
of people, but the older you get, the worse it
can get for you.
Speaker 2 (25:34):
This can definitely make the work of a seventy nine
year old person. More difficult. Chronic venus insufficiency again comes
with most often leg swelling that can increase your risk
of blood clot formation. With a job as active as
a president of the United States that involves a lot
of travel, a lot of walking, and a lot of exertion,
and that can increase the risk of complications from a
diagnosis such as this one.
Speaker 1 (25:55):
Right, and here's the thing I didn't know about it,
and it's a little righting. There's no known cure for this.
Speaker 2 (26:03):
This diagnosis is a progressive one, meaning that there's no
curative treatment or intervention, so it certainly can lead to
persistent swelling, which can lead to persistent pain and difficulties
with mobility. With at the age of seventy nine can
be difficult at the age of seventy nine, while also
being the president can be a tremendous amount of work.
Speaker 1 (26:19):
We have doctor Van Katz Nelson from the Vein Clinic
coming up at nine to twenty to talk more about this,
and you know, tell you how you can figure out
if you have this too. Since forty percent of the
people over a certain age have that, we're all finding
that out together well. Stephen Colbert killed Late Night. Stephen
(26:41):
Colbert killed Late Night by being anti Trump and NPR,
an advocate for the Democratic Party, now has to pay
basically a billion dollar fine. We'll talk about that next.
I am so happy today that Stephen Colbert is going
away ten months months. He's got left to do the show,
(27:03):
but he's definitely getting fired because he just will not listen.
They keep telling him, you know what, I'm just do it.
Just do a funny show. You don't have to go
after Donald Trump every night. You don't have to be political,
you don't have to get dramatic. Just do do a
comedy show, you know, be like Carson, be like Letterman,
be like the guy you replaced, David Letterman, the guy
(27:24):
that started this franchise, the legend. Can't you just follow
in his footsteps? Can't you just do it the way
he did it? Nope, he couldn't. He could not do it.
And so he's the latest one to go, you know,
like Jim Acosta, who they said the same thing to Jim,
the acts getting old. Just just do the news. Nope,
(27:45):
can do it. He's out. Joey Reid at MSNBC, can
you just can you just stop all this stuff. Can
we stop talking about how every Republican's are racist? Can
we stop that for a second. Nope, she's gone. You
can watch this is this is going to continue. This
will continue because what they're finding out, as many companies
(28:06):
have found out, as bud Light found out, Go Walt,
go broke. You want to you want to eliminate half
the country, that's fine, because that's going to kill your ratings.
And that's what's happened over and over again. And I'll
tell you what, I'm sure that paramount wasn't really happy
(28:27):
a couple of weeks ago. And the timing of this
is really fascinating because a couple of weeks ago, remember
there was that settlement with CBS and the Trump administration.
The Trump administration was suing CBS over a sixty minutes
interview with Kamala Harris where they got caught completely re
(28:51):
editing the thing to make Kamala Harris seem coherent. And
and I'm not exaggerating, that's not just an insult. We
have been able to see now what she said and
then what they aired, and it is they took things
from other parts of the interview to answer questions early
(29:13):
on to make her coherent. It was obvious that there
was bias behind that, and that they wanted her to
look good with And by the way, if it had
been Donald Trump, they would have just let him blabber.
But no, they wanted to make Kamala Harris look good.
And so there was a settlement in which Trump got
sixteen million dollars from CBS, and right after that settlement
(29:38):
Stephen Colbert went on the air and made fun of it.
Speaker 6 (29:41):
Now, I believe this kind of complicated financial settlement with
a sitting government official has a technical name in legal circles.
It's big fat bribe, because this all comes as Paramount's
owners are trying to get the Trump administration to approve
the sale of our network to a new owner, Skydance.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
And then he started dancing, and I'm sure some people
thought that was funny. My feeling is that PARAMOUNTA and
CBS did not think that was funny. And then just
a couple of weeks later, they announced that they're getting
rid of the show, and they came out and of
course they said it had nothing to do with Stephen Colbert.
It had nothing to do with the format or any
(30:22):
of the content of the show. That's bs. Of course
they're going to say that because they don't want to
get a lawsuit another lawsuit, so that's why they have
to end the show too. So he just I feel
so bad for David Letterman because he created that time slot.
He was amazing and he was non political. He was
(30:46):
just funny. He did silly things like Carson and like Conan.
Just stay out of politics and watch I'm telling you
watch Jimmy Kimmel. Jimmy Kimmel might be next.
Speaker 6 (30:59):
Next year will be our last season. The network will
be ending the Late show in May.
Speaker 1 (31:05):
And oh, man, there you go. All, yeah, I share
your feelings. Yeah, all the people that actually watched that
show were there in the audience. There's his ratings are dismal.
They have that cut staff. They've been talking about cutting
the number of shows. So I think after he went
(31:28):
out and railed against the network, they thought it's just
better to get rid of the whole thing. And at
the same time you got NPR. NPR, by the way,
has just become a wing of the Democratic Party, wasn't
there There was a there was a study out a
while ago where they talked about the democratic leanings of
everybody who's on the board, and it was ninety eight percent.
(31:51):
I think there was two that weren't and they are
way out there, and so they and you'd lost nine
billion dollars and it won't affect them. It really isn't
going to affect them because they make so much money.
And I want to play this. Senator Andy Kim from
(32:13):
New Jersey was up there. He was trying to defend PBS.
Speaker 4 (32:18):
Public broadcasting has educated and informed and inspired generations, teaching
important lessons to people of all ages and sharing powerful stories,
including of our nation's veterans.
Speaker 1 (32:31):
Yeah, they did do all that, but most of the
time they were just bashing Trump and the Republican Party
and wasting money.
Speaker 5 (32:40):
It's about the nine billion dollars that we're going to
save or ninety billion dollars in the tenure window, and
where I come from, that's still a lot of money.
Speaker 1 (32:49):
It is. It is, and the Trump administration keeps going
through cutting waste and cutting fraud, and good for them. Gee.
An hour into the show, we haven't talked about Epstein yet. Well,
a little bit, not enough. We'll remedy that when we
talk with wo our host Rob Astorino. Right after the
seven o'clock News
