Speaker 3 (04:19):
Kenny Chesney, he made our news earlier today he gave
Meghan Moroney a very expensive autographed guitar signed by Dolly
Parton a Hummingbird in nineteen eighty four, Gibson Hummingbird.
Speaker 4 (04:35):
Kenny's like here.
Speaker 8 (04:36):
I wonder if he bought it like that or if
he had Dolly like you know, because I just assume
they're all friends. Did he call Dolly and facts Dolly
because you can't call her and say, hey, I need
to sign this guitar real quick.
Speaker 4 (04:51):
Yeah, I mean something like that.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
I'm sure, but Kenny probably knew that Meghan Moroney is
a Dolly Parton fan, right, and that's a safe bet.
Wanted to surprise her for her birthday and she just
said she was out of her mind.
Speaker 4 (05:05):
I'm sure.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
So good gift giver Kenny Chesney, right there A ninety
three point one WDPOC Michael J and Bethany. We need, specifically,
someone who has ever caught a baseball, say at Camden
Yards or maybe somewhere else some stadium. Have you ever
(05:28):
caught a baseball? That would be the perfect person to
judge my gooder story this morning a little after nine thirty. Bethany,
who would you like to have to judge?
Speaker 4 (05:40):
Oh, I'd love to have a basketball player?
Speaker 3 (05:42):
Okay, Yeah, so that's the deal. If you've ever played basketball.
It could be high school, collegiate, maybe you made it
to the pros you didn't have to, or could it
be a basketball fan or should.
Speaker 4 (05:55):
It be a player? I think it should be a player.
Speaker 3 (05:57):
Okay, So then we would love it if you could
check in with us and you could be the judge
for our gooder news, which is coming up a little
after nine thirty. Have you ever played basketball? Have you
ever caught a baseball? Coincidentley, we're all talking sports today.
Mm hmmm, have you ever caught a baseball at a
baseball game? Doesn't have to be a major League it
(06:19):
could be. It would be helpful if it was. But
if you've ever caught a baseball, probably these are even
a foul ball.
Speaker 8 (06:28):
Yeah, you know, these are people who are good at
ball handling.
Speaker 4 (06:32):
Exactly.
Speaker 3 (06:33):
We need you to call eight hundred three two one
thirty six ninety three eight hundred three to two one
thirty six ninety three, where you can text us seven

Speaker 1 (06:51):
Win piles of cash right now.
Speaker 4 (06:54):
Whoo, it's a thousand dollars y'all.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
Comet entered this nationwide keyword wpl dot com.
Speaker 4 (07:01):
Bank.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
That's bank.
Speaker 3 (07:03):
Oh boys, we're giving away the cash at WPOC dot com.
Speaker 4 (07:06):
Let's find out what's going on on the roads.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
Ninety three point one WPOC traffic.
Speaker 8 (07:12):
There's an accident at Timonium Road. At Edgemore Road. We're
slow in the interloop between Stevenson and JFFX, on the
ounterloop between Security and Baltimore National Pike. Slow traffic on
seventy eastbound between Marriottsville and Columbia Pike.
Speaker 4 (07:24):
And there's an accident.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
Ninety three point one WPOC.
Speaker 3 (07:32):
I'll remind you, Michael, Jay and Bethanie always looking for
goodness in the world.
Speaker 4 (07:39):
The world's a.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
Better place when you recognize goodness, and sometimes you got
to look for it. Well, we find it every single
morning right here, a little after nine thirty times good.
Speaker 4 (07:53):
And wanting you know it.
Speaker 3 (07:54):
Today's judge who fit both of our requirements. Someone who's
caught a baseball at a baseball game and played basketball.
Turns out he's a realtor, Bethany, Okay, and you're a realtor.
Speaker 4 (08:08):
He's probably ended up voting for you. Again.
Speaker 3 (08:09):
I'll bet how long, Steve, how long you been in
the real estate game?
Speaker 9 (08:13):
Okay, I've been doing it for thirty six years?
Speaker 4 (08:15):
How many years for you, Bethany? Not quite thirty six?
Speaker 3 (08:18):
Okay, she wasn't born thirty six years ago. All right, Steve,
here we go. Well, so here's what happened. And you
probably have some respect for the game of baseball, being
that you were at an IronBirds game.
Speaker 4 (08:30):
There's a guy named cal Rilly.
Speaker 3 (08:33):
He is a catcher for the Seattle Mariners, who are
now playing in the American League Championship Series against the
Toronto Blue Jays.
Speaker 4 (08:42):
You know who I'm talking about.
Speaker 9 (08:43):
I don't know him personally.
Speaker 3 (08:44):
Now, all right, well, cal Riley just became the first
catcher in Major League Baseball history to hit sixty home runs. There, guys,
and the fans went crazy when he did it. They
(09:06):
ended up clinching their their title, you know, the division title.
Speaker 4 (09:10):
When they got that home run.
Speaker 3 (09:12):
It was a big night and as the ball flew
out of the park, it ended up landing in the
hands of a guy just like you who caught the ball.
His name is Glenn Driscoll, and he immediately handed it
over to a young boy named Marcus, feeling that it
would be the nice thing to do. He found out
(09:33):
the ball was worth between one hundred and two hundred
thousand dollars.
Speaker 4 (09:39):
That's insane.
Speaker 3 (09:40):
Because of the notoriety of the home run being Cal
Riley's sixtieth, as you know, a catcher and everything, that
was a big deal. Anyway, he has the ball over nonetheless,
and his response.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
Was, I saw it kid in front of me, and
it was just what I decided to do.
Speaker 4 (09:56):
I'm glad that I did it. Yeah, just spreading next
kindness whenever he can. That's that's a good thing to do.
Speaker 3 (10:04):
Young Marcus. He finds out the ball's worth two under
grand What do you think he does, Bethany, What do
you think he does, Steve?
Speaker 9 (10:11):
He turns it in.
Speaker 3 (10:12):
Yes, he turned it into the player to Cal. He said,
this is Col's ball. He deserves it. He hit the
home run. They both got invited on the field to
meet Cal. They both got autograph balls, but they both
gave up what could have been a two hundred thousand
dollars baseball.
Speaker 4 (10:30):
I think that's good news.
Speaker 3 (10:32):
What do you say, as someone who's caught a baseball
at a game?
Speaker 9 (10:35):
That was awesome. I gave my ball to a little
kid too.
Speaker 3 (10:39):
Oh, Steve, you're a very nice guy, very kind.
Speaker 4 (10:43):
So you relate to that story. You understand it all.
Speaker 8 (10:45):
Yes, Well, if you're a fan of doing the right thing,
then you're really gonna love this, Steve. Okay, this happened
at a high school in Oklahoma City. It was a
girls basketball team. They recently won their Vision Championship title.
They were so excited. It was a buzzer beater. The
(11:05):
crowd went wild. Everything just fell into place right right.
Head coach Brendan King reviewed the game footage after the
game and discovered that the final score had been recorded incorrectly.
Speaker 4 (11:19):
What now?
Speaker 8 (11:20):
Both league rules state that final game results cannot be changed,
but the head coach shared the findings with his team,
and the entire girls basketball team unanimously agreed that keeping
the trophy would be wrong.
Speaker 4 (11:36):
Oh, so they decided to return it. Ah.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
So, in other words, they won the game, but then
they didn't really win it.
Speaker 8 (11:42):
Correct, and so instead of keeping the title even though
they didn't earn it, they decided to give it back.
And the coach delivered the championship plaque to the other
high school himself, and they all took pictures and he's
sec congratulations. And the team decided that honesty and integrity
was more important than winning. Oh, and I think that's
(12:03):
good news. And lost the games in a world that's
void of integrity and doing the right thing. These girls
are standing up for what they believe in, and I
think that's amazing.
Speaker 4 (12:15):
All right, So, Steve, which is the gooder story? It's
all up to you. This is tough, Steve, but us
realtors have to stick together. Yeah what wow? Girls?
Speaker 1 (12:27):
What you had?
Speaker 4 (12:28):
Two guys? You gave back a two hundred thousand dollars baseball.
I demand a recount. We need a recount. No hard
it is to give back your title?
Speaker 9 (12:36):
Of you if you think you won, the girls won?
Speaker 8 (12:41):
What?
Speaker 4 (12:41):
Oh, Steve?
Speaker 8 (12:42):
Thank you?
Speaker 4 (12:42):
Steve? What we do a deal together? Soon?
Speaker 3 (12:45):
Was this a realtor thing? Are you sticking with her
because she sells real estate?
Speaker 9 (12:48):
At least there was at least a dozen girls that
gave it up.
Speaker 4 (12:51):
Yeah, death and you always find a way to win.
That's the name of the game.
Speaker 10 (12:57):
Gave us that heeltop place to pall, gave us some
girls that stole he horse, gave us and books up,
phone and wall the way we live and away we Tom.
Gave us state that senior years and country stores to
buy that beer, a place to go. Nobody knows where
you take it in and you take it slow like
that river rolls where that green grass grows. I can't explain,
(13:22):
and how it's something name and.
Speaker 5 (13:24):
You we sh your paint it us tore down and
more two lane rolls.
Speaker 4 (13:29):

Jackson back in uniform on the field playing with the Ravens.
Speaker 4 (16:24):
Okay, that's the first thing. Step one.
Speaker 3 (16:26):
Then fix the defense. Oh, then hold on to the ball.
Speaker 4 (16:31):

New Jersey got hit kind of hard.
Speaker 3 (17:50):

Speaker 4 (19:19):
They say he's got bad bronchitis.
Speaker 8 (19:21):
You gotta be careful because you don't want to do
permanent damage.
Speaker 4 (19:25):
No, no, no, no.
Speaker 8 (19:27):
It feels like a lot of people have been losing
their voices lately, right, did.
Speaker 4 (19:31):
That used to happen?
Speaker 3 (19:33):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (19:33):
I think people have always had.
Speaker 8 (19:35):
I mean like, it seems like a lot of country
singers have been sidelined lately because of.
Speaker 3 (19:39):
Wow local problem. You look at how much they're singing.
They're out there on the road doing a lot of shows. Yeah,
so he's apologizing to his fans who were unable to
see him over the weekend. Hopefully Chris Stapleton feels better
and gets his voice better.
Speaker 4 (19:51):
Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 3 (19:51):
Megan Moroney celebrated her birthday and did you hear what
she got for a birthday gift?
Speaker 4 (19:59):
I did not.
Speaker 3 (20:00):
She called it quote insane. I didn't know a birthday
gift could be insane? What was it?
Speaker 4 (20:07):
Are you ready for this? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (20:08):
Kenny Chesney gave the now twenty eight year old Megan
Marony an autographed Hummingbird signed by Dolly. Now, you might
say to yourself, what the heck's a hummingbird? It's a guitar.
And her guitar that she was given by Kenny was
a vintage nineteen eighty four worth somewhere in the neighborhood
(20:33):
of five thousand to fifty five hundred dollars.
Speaker 4 (20:36):
Wow, Kenny gives very good gifts.
Speaker 3 (20:39):
And she says she was screaming, crying and throwing up
Megan Maroney's words, Oh wow, is that a goods response?
I don't know if Kenny's excited like you. I thought
you liked it. She's throwing up over there.
Speaker 4 (20:52):
What a nice reputation to have to be such a
good gift giver.
Speaker 7 (20:56):
Give me.
Speaker 3 (20:57):
Let me give you some inside scoop on Kenny Chesney. Okay,
this is just how nice he is. The people that
work for him. He has a large crew that when
he goes out on the road. Yeah, of course, hundreds
of people, men and women who work for him. He
has a beautiful bound and I mean how many inches
is that?
Speaker 4 (21:16):
About two and a half inches?
Speaker 3 (21:18):
Yeah, about a two inch two and a half inch
thick bound book.
Speaker 4 (21:22):
Beautiful.
Speaker 3 (21:23):
I mean it's put together like the most expensive books
you've ever seen. And he recaps everything that happens on
his tour, and he gives that to a gift to
everyone on in his store. Oh that's nice, numbered autographed
and a thank you note inside of it.
Speaker 4 (21:36):
That's really nice everyone that works for him. He's done
that year and in year out. I love how thuughful
he is. Who knew.
Speaker 3 (21:42):
And Megan Maroney who toured with Kenny, she got this
guitar just in case anybody, lest you be concerned, an
actual hummingbird. If you're not allowed to give hummingbirds, there's
a two hundred thousand dollars fine if you give the
eggs or the bird. So don't try giving anyone a
hummingbird herd, only the hummingbird guitar.
Speaker 4 (22:02):
Are we clear on that? Okay? Got it? All right?
Got it?
Speaker 1 (22:05):
Ninety three point geez, somebody's daughter.
Speaker 4 (22:28):
Ninety three wpoc aye ya ya ya ya. All right.
I'm having a day from hack. You know, what is it?
What is wrong with me? Bethany? Do you have too
much caffeine today? I don't know. I didn't.
Speaker 3 (22:42):
I had one cup, but I'm just I'm sorry. I'm
a mess today, all right? Let me pull myself together,
all right, all right, we have a lot going on
it all right, trying to you got this, trying to
get you organized. I'm very excited about this news that
we're about to share. I know our ninety three point
one WDPOC Sat Jude jingle y'all.
Speaker 4 (23:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (23:02):
Now, for anyone who's new to our faithful twelve and
you don't know about the jingle y'all, it's our way
of doing a couple things. One raising money and awareness
for Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, which is near and
dear to our hearts. We always have our big radiothon
(23:22):
end of the year in December, and leading into that, we'd.
Speaker 4 (23:27):
Like to do a show.
Speaker 3 (23:27):
This is kind of the kickoff, right because the other
part of this equation, in addition to helping the kids
at Saint Jude, we also love to introduce you to
the future of country music, which is what we plan
