Speaker 3 (00:39):
Your pop culture protein boost.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
It's The Brief on 93.1 WPOC. So Candace, what's going on?

Speaker 4 (00:47):
A man is facing attempted murder and gun charges after
police said he fired at another driver during an alleged
road rage incident on 695 in Anne Arundel County. 40-year-old
Brandon Allison was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder,
having a loaded handgun in a vehicle, and other related charges.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
It happened on the outer loop.

Speaker 4 (01:07):
Of the Beltway just before 2.95 on Wednesday around 2
o'clock in the afternoon. The investigation indicates that Allison was
driving a Chrysler Pacifica. and fired a shot at a
Honda Accord, striking the rear driver's side window. Police said
the driver of the Honda was not injured. Allison was
later found at an area warehouse and taken into custody.

(01:29):
A Mustang horse that's been loose for more than two
months was successfully captured and transported to Gentle Giant's Draft
Horse Rescue. The horse, now named Outlaw, escaped on June
29th and was seen roaming near the Liberty Reservoir. Officials
were able to safely trap and transport Outlaw to the
rescue facility.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
Outlaw is now settling in at the rescue.

Speaker 4 (01:51):
Donations to support Outlaw's care can be made directly to
Gentle Giant's Trapped Horse Rescue.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
That's sweet.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
Let's talk about the O's.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
All right.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
Adley was back.

Speaker 4 (02:02):
In town in a Boston Red Sox uniform.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
He stepped up to the plate, and then this happened.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
1-1 from Young.

Speaker 5 (02:11):
And Rutschman sends this one to deep right field.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
It is returned. He goes deep. His 38th career.

Speaker 6 (02:19):
Home run at Camden Yards is first as a member
of the Boston Red Sox.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
Five innings later, he did it again.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
Oh, this one is drilled by Rutschman.

Speaker 5 (02:31):
His second home run tonight. Welcome back to Baltimore, Adley Rutschman.

Speaker 4 (02:37):
The Boston Red Sox beat the Orioles 6-5.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
That is your brief.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
Mike Elias. Mike Elias. Can somebody wake up Mike Elias?
Is he paying attention to the brief this morning, Candace?
And wait a second. I can't get this out of
my head now.

Speaker 6 (02:53):
On a train back to Boston and we're jumping the gun.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
And then there's Adley hitting another home run.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
And I like it when you're nice.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
Mike Elias, please leave town. All right, there we go.

Speaker 6 (03:09):
All right, Candace, are you paying attention to this story?

Speaker 3 (03:18):
Yeah, I got it.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
All right, Luke Combs and Luke Bryan teamed up on
a new song. We broke that news yesterday. Today, we've
got a clip, and I had to edit this to
keep it family friendly. Luke Bryan sitting down with Theo
Vaughn talking about his aggravation with people kind of trolling
him on social media.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
There are a bunch of folks are claiming.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
That Luke has relied on AI to write some of
his newer songs. And it has really gotten under Luke's skin.
Here's a little of what Luke Bryan told Theo.

Speaker 6 (03:54):
You're talking to a grown man. That's made a ton
of money doing this.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
So he's laughing about it and he's saying that his
kids would never be that rude. And so he said that.
And then he got on Facebook and he's laying into
some of these kids. He is definitely irritated by it.
You know, at some point you just have to say,
you know what? Sticks and stones can break your bones,
but names will never hurt me.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
Right.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
It's got to be frustrating.

Speaker 5 (04:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
I guess. Yeah, but he can't come at 16-year-olds.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
No, I'm not saying that.

Speaker 4 (04:31):
I'm just talking about I do feel for musicians in
the industry right now with AI.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
Yeah, it is definitely a challenge for all of us.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
All right, elsewhere in the country music news this morning,
we have got a young lady who I think has
got the potential to be a big star.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Ashley Cook.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
You've heard about her. She's got the— Those blue eyes
are so cute. So she doesn't actually have blue eyes,
but she's got a song about them, and she wears
blue mascara when she sings. So she is coming in concert,
kicking off her tour in two weeks with a date
in our area, September the 18th. September 18th. Right.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
I just want to give you a heads up.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
930 Club.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
Exactly.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
We have tickets to give away this morning in the
hot seat. One big happy family here. One big happy
dysfunctional family. Michael, Jay, and Candace, right? And we're here
to help each other out. Well, we hear this morning
a brother in country music might need some help.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
So I need fans.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
Right now to pay attention, and maybe we'll get your
advice for Luke Bryan. Candice, I want your advice, all right? Okay,
here is the whole scenario. I don't have to say anything.
I'm going to let Luke explain everything.

Speaker 6 (05:50):
That's the crazy thing about where we're at with social.
They started a narrative that we AI'd it. It was
making guys like, they're at a camera going, I hate you.
Like they're looking in the camera and they're like, I
hate you.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
And I'm like, I can see your face.

Speaker 6 (06:10):
Like, if I see you one day, I'm going to
knock the out of you. Then you have to wrap
your head around the idea that you're happy that everybody
is being this way because it's getting more. But then
I'm like, well, wait, I'm not sure I'm happy about
a bunch of teenagers telling a 50-year-old man he's a piece.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
Of shit songwriter.

Speaker 6 (06:35):
And then I'm like, dude, you're 16.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
You're talking to a grown man.

Speaker 6 (06:41):
All right.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
So it got under his skin. What would you tell him, seriously,
straight up? Is there any advice you would offer? Oh.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
I don't know. I'm still trying to process everything.

Speaker 4 (06:53):
The one thing that I do know and that I've
learned over just the past five months of being here,
it is really a challenge for these artists against AI.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
Right.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
And I mean, it's a challenge for all of us. Right.
But you're talking about their art and their labor of love.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
Exactly. I agree with you. All of this.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
Right.

Speaker 4 (07:16):
And it's, it's a very difficult situation. I don't know
that I have the answer on how to handle this.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
I think I do. Can I, here's what I would say.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
Ignore it. Ignore the haters. Why, why pay attention to them?
Why give them fuel for the fire?

Speaker 2 (07:31):
It's made a shit. Oh, all right. There's enough.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
Luke, we got the point of what he was saying. Uh,
so you got to ignore it though. Candace, when people
come at you, uh, that are just hateful. You know,
is there any other advice we can give him? Cause
he's seriously perturbed. I think you can hear it reading
between the lines and it's really getting to him. So
do you have any suggestions for Luke, Brian, and you

(07:56):
want to share seven, seven, nine, six, two, start with
a or high on the tech are getting a lot
of response to the question. What, what should Luke do here?
He is explaining the situation. He's Got trollers, they're calling him,
people trolling him on social media about his songs, claiming
that they were written by AI and it has gotten

(08:18):
under his skin.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
Notoriety.

Speaker 6 (08:19):
But then I'm like, well, wait, I'm not sure I'm
happy about a bunch of teenagers telling a 50-year-old man
he's a piece of shit songwriter. And then I'm like, dude,
you're 16. You're talking to a grown man. that's made
a ton of money doing this.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
But that's what they're going to do anyway. I know,
but it's just so, like, it's so far out there.

Speaker 6 (08:44):
I'm like, if I caught my kids doing some stuff
like that, I would kill them.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
All right, so that's what Luke would do.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
And we're wondering, you know, just because it's really out there,
this story is kind of getting big. People texting, Candace,
are you seeing some of the responses coming in?

Speaker 3 (09:01):
Yeah, I got him.

Speaker 4 (09:02):
Somebody said, I do like Taylor and shake it off,
but it is annoying.

Speaker 3 (09:08):
Somebody else says, tell Luke to come and see me.
I'd love to make him a smile.

Speaker 4 (09:16):
I did not write that text, by the way.

Speaker 2 (09:20):
It sounds like it was signed by Candace.

Speaker 5 (09:23):
No.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
Go ahead.

Speaker 1 (09:25):
There's another one over here that says, I think you
should wear some. It says, I think you should wear
some looser pants and allow more blood flow.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
All right.

Speaker 1 (09:36):
So we do have some serious responses coming in as well. Sir,
you're in the air. What do you want to say
to Luke Bryan regarding this whole debacle with the kids
saying that his music is not his and he's upset?

Speaker 5 (09:47):
Well, I'll tell you, a phrase that you don't hear
much anymore is respect your elders.

Speaker 6 (09:52):
Right.

Speaker 2 (09:53):
And You know, I see.

Speaker 5 (09:55):
Luke on TV on a hunting show, and I'm a
hunter myself, and I just... kind of got to know
him a little better than just the music.

Speaker 2 (10:04):
It seems like he's a really good guy.

Speaker 5 (10:06):
We all have our faults, but that phrase, respect your elders,
I think has to be used more often by parents.
Just telling their kids, hey, listen, like Luke said, he's
a grown man. You know, you got a lot of
growing up, a lot of wisdom to gain. You don't
know it all yet. You know, you think you know
it all at 14, 13, but come on, dude. You know,

(10:28):
respect your elders.

Speaker 1 (10:29):
All right.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
Good advice. Thank you very much for listening.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
That's Chuck celebrating our five-month work-aversary. And Candace, we've got
more flashbacks here on a flashback Friday.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
But what's coming up on your brief next?

Speaker 4 (10:43):
A man is arrested after a road rage incident in
Anne Arundel County.

Speaker 3 (10:47):
Details in the brief. Come on, sing along.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
On a train back to Boston.

Speaker 6 (10:54):
Oh, boy.

Speaker 1 (10:55):
Oh, I was singing that last night about Mike Elias
of the Orioles. You'll hear more about that story coming up.
But we are reminding ourselves and you, too, of what's
happened in the last five months that we've been a
part of.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
The morning show here, Michael, Jay, and Candice.

Speaker 1 (11:11):
We're celebrating our five-month work-aversary. Do you remember? Hey, Candice,
do you remember way back in the beginning? It was
like the first or second week of April. When we
surprised Justin Moore and told him his song was number one?

Speaker 2 (11:27):
Is that right? Yeah. What is that right? You don't
know about it?

Speaker 3 (11:32):
We're singing along to it every morning.

Speaker 1 (11:34):
And I got a question to ask you about it.
So I'm asking you, do you know the success you're having?
Are you paying attention?

Speaker 2 (11:40):
No.

Speaker 6 (11:41):
Well, I know the song's done well for us, and
we got a chance for it to ring the bell
and be our 14th number one.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
Yeah, well, he hit number one with it. We were
able to tell him about it. Just another highlight of
the last five months.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
Your pop culture protein boost.

Speaker 5 (12:18):
It's The Brief on 93.1 WPOC.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
All right, Miss Candice.

Speaker 1 (12:25):
Let me see what is going on in the world
of our brief this morning. I know you've been working
on a lot over there. Let me see if I... Hey, Candace,
are you there?

Speaker 4 (12:34):
Dan is facing attempted murder and gun charges after police
said he fired at another driver during an alleged road
raid incident on 695 in Anne Arundel County. 40-year-old Brandon
Allison was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder, having
a loaded handgun in a vehicle, and other related charges.
Happened on the Adelube side of 695 just before 295

(12:56):
on Wednesday around 2 in the afternoon. The investigation indicates
Allison was driving a Chrysler Pacifica and fired a shot
at a Honda Accord, striking the rear driver's side window.

Speaker 3 (13:07):
Police said the driver of the Honda was not injured.

Speaker 4 (13:11):
Allison was later found at an area warehouse and taken
into custody. A Mustang horse that's been loose for more
than two months was successfully captured and transported to Gentle
Giant's Draft Horse Rescue. The horse, now named Outlaw, escaped
on June 29th and was seen roaming near the Liberty Reservoir.
Officials were able to safely trap and transport Outlaw to

(13:33):
the rescue facility. Outlaw is now settling in. Donations to
support Outlaw's care can be made directly through Gentle Giant's
Draft Horse Rescue.

Speaker 3 (13:43):
Let's talk about the O's.

Speaker 4 (13:45):
Adley was back in town in a Boston Red Sox uniform.
He stepped up to the plate and then it all
went down.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
Yeah, he hit a home run right over the right
field wall, right into the flag court.

Speaker 2 (14:00):
And then he got another standing a little later.

Speaker 3 (14:04):
Five innings later, he did it again.

Speaker 4 (14:06):
The Boston Red Sox beat the O's 6-5.

Speaker 3 (14:09):
That's your brief.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
Uncle Jay's Music City Minute.

Speaker 6 (14:12):
In 60 seconds, you gonna know like you own Music Row.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
All right, it's New Country Friday, Candace, and I want
to get your opinion on a couple of new songs.
The first one is from Kane Brown featuring Shania Twain.
And I think you're going to immediately recognize the reason
that Shania's name is in here.

Speaker 2 (14:33):
Listen. This is what Kane has been working on. What

(15:04):
do you think?

Speaker 3 (15:05):
I love it.

Speaker 2 (15:08):
You do love it?

Speaker 3 (15:08):
I do.

Speaker 1 (15:10):
I wasn't sure at first, and I honestly think I'm
going to need to hear.

Speaker 2 (15:13):
It a few times.

Speaker 1 (15:14):
But that is Kane Brown with Shania Twain and Boots. Now,
here's a snippet of one more new song you need
to know about. This one's going to sound familiar, too,
I think. It's from Dylan Scott.

Speaker 2 (15:28):
I spent last night in the arms of a girl
from Louisiana.

Speaker 1 (15:49):
I think it's ironic that here's two current stars, Kane
Brown and Dylan Scott, both calling on, you know, kind
of throwback vibes.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
One with Shania, one with Garth. And that is your
Music City Minute.
