Speaker 1 (00:00):
Some mornings, it's tough to remember to take everything with
you out the door, your lunch, your security badge, whatever
you need to get in at work. The other mornings,
everything just seems to click. You know what the difference
is those slow mornings you've probably missed ninety three point
one WPOC The Michael J. Morning Show. Hope you can

(00:20):
join us every morning, but if you do happen to
miss anything, maybe you can catch it here on our podcast.
Thanks for checking in, follow, like, share, and keep listening.
Ninety three point one WDPOC, Michael J and Candace in
the Morning. Hey, real quick, before you jump on the brief, Candace,
I just want to repeat the breaking news that we

(00:41):
had about a half hour forty minutes ago. Garth Brooks
has announced the fourth stop on his Blame It All
on My Roots tour and it's Washington, DC, Capital One Arena.
The dates are September. Is it the eighteenth and nineteenth? Yes,
I got the eighteenth and nineteighteenth.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
And nineteenth, but tickets go on sale next Friday.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Right, Well, that's this coming in. That's this coming September
eighteenth and nineteenth, and like a month yeaow, yeah, that's
like that's crazy.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
Your pop culture protein boost, It's the brief on.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
Ninety three point one WPOC.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
The powerball jackpot is closing in on one billion dollars.
After no one brought home the top prize in Monday
Nights Drawling. A few Maryland players are waking up to
major wins, including a new one million dollar ticket sold
in Harper County. The ticket was sold at the Harvest
Fairs Supermarket on Bella Road in Folston. This was Maryland's
third one million dollar powerball prize in the past two weeks.

(01:47):
The jackpot for Tonight's Drawling reached an estimated one billion dollars.
The City of Frederick's seven member council voted five to
one in favor of rezoning about twenty four acres for
eight ten one thousand person cricket stadium. The plot of
land is known as the Gateway Property, and it's located
between Route one, forty four and seventy. It's currently a

(02:08):
golf driving range and could soon become one of the
only professional and international.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
Great cricket stadium on the East Coast.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
It's expected to become the home of the Washington Freedom
professional cricket team. Nearly two million dollars in annual tax
revenue could be generated by this stadium, according to officials,
which is expected to draw in approximately one hundred thousand visitors.
In Baltimore County, a busy Perry Hall intersection is getting
a traffic light. Following multiple crashes and months of debate

(02:38):
over how to improve safety along honeygo Boulevard. Baltimore County
is settled on a traffic light at the interception of
honeygoll And Crossroad after weighing it against a roundabout, with
speed and cost driving the decision. The money is already
allocated in the budget and the project is expected to
be completed by the end of the year.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
That is your breed. I cannot remember a concert as
big as Garth Brook being announced five weeks before the
show and tickets going on sale this close. Am I crazy?

Speaker 2 (03:06):
Are you thinking I need to leave work early next
Friday so I can log on and get my tickets.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
I'm just looking at the calendar. I mean, Garth just
told us this morning, about forty minutes ago, that this
show is happening one, two, three, four, five weekends from
this weekend, the eighteenth and the nineteenth, and I was
wondering why those dates are like, why am I thinking
something else is going on? That's the exact same weekend

(03:32):
as the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Vegas where Kenny Chesney
and Landy Wilson are going to be and we're giving
away a trip there in nine to twenty this morning
or a little after nine, so point there's a lot
going on, and then you're choosing between the Zach Brown
Band and Tim McGraw this Saturday choice is Choice ninety
three point one w POC. We got to add this

(03:53):
to the Michael J. Music City Minute here, candas there's
already hysteria brewing over the Garth Brooks tickets and the
announcement we made this morning about what do you.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
Think I should do?

Speaker 1 (04:04):
Are you given away tickets? I don't know if we're
gonna have tickets. I don't know if there's any trick.
I just know tickets are going on sale next weekend,
not this weekend, but next weekend. They're gonna be available
through Ticketmaster as of Friday, August twenty first, at ten am.

(04:26):
That is what I know. So all I know is
the show is five weeks away, so I would definitely
be ready to hop.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
Tip I will do I did back in twenty fifteen.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
She hopped in there. And you know what, Candice. Everybody
has their memories and moments with Garth, But the fact
that he is coming to Capital One Arena Friday and Saturday,
September eighteenth and nineteenth and roughly five weeks has got
people worked up.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
Michael Jay's music sitting minute in sixty seconds.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
If you go, oh like you own music, row and
trust me, that's not all that's got you worked up
this morning. Imagine this canvas. You're getting married all right now.
There's a couple, a bride in a groom who began
their wedding ceremony at Brown's Owens River Campground near Mammoth Lakes, California,
over this past weekend on Saturday. And while they're standing

(05:21):
at the edge of a river, picture this. You know
how the you know how the uh the trail through
Cockeysville and up in the Baltimore County goes the NCR
Trail trail. You know how, there's that river and you
jump in it with like an inner tube and you
just float down there with a beer in your hand.
You've probably done that before. We've all done it picture
that exact same thing happening behind a bride and a

(05:43):
groom and leading this pack. It was like a flotilla
of people yelling and screaming with their beers in their hands,
in their floats. Leading the way was Shaboozi. Here they are.
And there they go past the bride and groom and

(06:03):
there's Chaboozie wearing nothing but a smile. I'd assume he's
got his bathing trunks on, but you can't see him
because they're stuck down in his interviewe right, And they're
just floating by, and there's like one hundred people with
beers behind the bride and groom. Yeah, just Thieve's going,
what a photo bomb to have Shaboozie in the back
of your wedding shot. That is hysterical. It's in People magazine.

(06:27):
And here's another example of a country star in the wild.
There were some folks on vacation at a Saint Thomas
beach bar called Iggy's in Saint Thomas, and all of
a sudden, Ella and her girlfriends walked in and start
singing Ella Langley. So Ella jumps on the microphone. Listen,

(06:50):
Oh my god, everything's going on. I would have lost
my mind. Don't worry, No, I'm an lfella. I'll be
right over. And she was standing there with her security
guard too, which was hysterically funny. Just a couple of
the stories with Michael Chase Music City Minute this morning.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
You know, we're celebrating the ultimate ella fella this week.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
His name Michael J.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
Michael was inducted into the Country Radio Hall of Fame
last week, and of course he's back from Music City.
We all around this studio and all around town had
been given our high fives and are well wishes. But
his friends from Nashville wanted to check in with them
as well.

Speaker 1 (07:36):
So I thought we'd do it at eight thirty every
day this week.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
And this is about the time.

Speaker 1 (07:40):
Yeah, and this is Kandace's opportunity to try to embarrass me.
It get me like see if I can blush. No, no, no, no, no,
this is a lot. I just want to say, this
is a lot. It's been really overwhelming this week. I
mean I remember already this week you had low Cash,
those guys popped in here. You had Jackson Dan, you

(08:01):
had Brantley Gilbert pops in my mind right away, you
had Carly Pearce send me a message. I can't believe
Luke Bryan was Luke in there. That's right, Luke was
the first one. Oh my gosh, I can't even keep
track of how many stars have been. And so you've
got more today? All right, well I'm trying to remember.

(08:23):
So ears you've got three more you want to play?
Go ahead, Michael Jay, what's up.

Speaker 3 (08:27):
Scotty McCreary here, Yes, Scotty, congratulations on being an inductee
into the twenty twenty sixth Country Radio Hall of Fame.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
Nobody deserves it more. Man, I've always enjoyed hanging around.
You get to hear your stories. We've had some really
good times over the year we have. I know, you
make Baltimore w POC. Everybody at iHeart country crowd. Congrats man,
that's cool. All right, So a clip from Scotty McCreary.
I love him even if he is a Patriots fan.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
His dad okay, he says that he when we talk
to him, he always says, hey, y'all come down to
M ANDT Bank Stadium.

Speaker 1 (09:02):
Yeah, will break bread. No, he's okay. You know, he's
a really good guy and he's a he's a homebody too.
He's like he's he's just a really good human, all right.
So there's the first one today. Who else do you have?

Speaker 3 (09:14):
Everybody in Baltimore. I'm Justin Moore and I just want
to say a huge congratulations to Michael Jay's twenty twenty
six Hall of Fame induction. Everybody at POSW POC has
been great to me, including Michael JS.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
So congrats, well deserved. Enjoy that's cool. Justin Moore, I
got to find the picture I have with him. He
was in the studio at WMCQ with me one day
and he's like five four, right, and I'm six three,
and so I'm like, dude, you need to be taller
in this shot. So he climbs up on top of
a stool and he hits his head on the speaker

(09:56):
he got so he wasn't used to it, but he's
another early good guy. Funny too. Justin Moore, I gotta
find that picture. You got one more you said, right.

Speaker 2 (10:04):
Uncle Jay.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
It's Laura Lena.

Speaker 3 (10:06):
I had to take a second to say congratulations.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
Lauren Hall of Fame inductee. Dude, this is crazy. You
deserve it. You are always such as joy to be around.
And I just wanted to say, I'm so proud of you.
You know, the night I told you I was that
Luke Bryan's house, it was a big party. Lauren was
there and she was running around. And outside of Luke
Brian's barn, he had this big white tent, like a

(10:30):
big you know what kind of tent you would rent
and it would it was just tented, and inside of
it he had his he had a cigar bar. And
I will never forget Laura Lena running in and out
of there, and she had just gotten engaged and she was,
I mean, she was on cloud nine and just such
an upbeat, upbeat spirit. And then after that she she

(10:51):
played she oh, she played in the back of a
pickup truck at apple Ford and when she was doing
a show at Merriweather one year, good good, good ladies.
So that's wild. And you how did you get all
these people though, like because last week, I don't know,
last week was a lot in Nashville was going on.

Speaker 2 (11:11):
My people called their people.

Speaker 1 (11:12):
I got people, I mean, not like Michael j.

Speaker 2 (11:16):
But and they also check it out online all social media,
a lot of.

Speaker 1 (11:19):
Stars weighing in, all right, so the videos are going
up now at WDPOC and Michael J and Candace in
the Morning ninety three point one WDPOC, Michael J and
Candace in the Morning. There is Stella Lefty. There have
been a lot of talk about her because a her
dad created group on. He is a billionaire and now

(11:40):
she's becoming a big star. So I imagine she'll have
her own jet before she has even earned her own jet.
But good things are happening for her, and she's one
of the five country songs on the top of the
All Genre Billboard Hot one hundred right now. Because country
music has definitely taken over, and it's taken over our

(12:00):
area too. With all these concerts we've got coming up.
You know, we've got Thomas Rhett on Thursday. A lot
of excitement about that at Merriweather. We're gonna be looking
for you there. And it was just announced this morning
that Garth Brooks is coming to Washington, d C. In September.

For the fourth city on his tour. He's already been
to Indianapolis and Chicago and Denver, and now in five
weeks for two nights September eighteenth and nineteenth, he's playing
in DC. The tickets go on sale not this weekend,

who is coming back together. We heard about Florida Georgia
ly now Sugarland. You remember them, right, baby girl and

(14:08):
announced they are going to put on a twenty twenty
six Ride or Die tour, a twenty six date track
that will span through October and November, and it hinges
on the twentieth anniversary of the band's Enjoy the Ride album,
