Speaker 1 (00:00):
Some mornings, it's tough to remember to take everything with
you out the door. Your lunch, your security badge, whatever
you need to get in at work. Other mornings, everything
just seems to click. You know what the difference is?
Those slow mornings you probably missed. 93.1 WPOC. The Michael J.
Morning Show. Hope you can join us every morning. But

(00:22):
if you do happen to miss anything, maybe you can
catch it here on our podcast. Thanks for checking in. Follow, like, share,
and keep listening. I heard Reed Wiseman is home. He's
the guy that went up around the moon. He graduated
from Delaney, right? He's a homer. He's got to be
a country fan. If Reed Wiseman's in the area, we're

(00:44):
going to invite you to join us here at 93.1 WPFC.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
Yes, we're crafting the message right now.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
Right. We're going to send him a message. We're going
to bring him in. And then maybe he could give
you a special surprise.

Speaker 3 (00:55):
Okay. Your pop culture protein boost. It's The Brief on 93.1 WPFC.

Speaker 4 (01:03):
Some drivers whose vehicles have been trapped inside the damaged
Empire Towers parking garage for more than two months may
finally get them.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Back later this month.

Speaker 4 (01:12):
Empire Towers management recently notified vehicle owners that it plans
to begin removing cars from the garage next week. Officials
are optimistic that at least half of the nearly 50
vehicles still inside can be retrieved by the end of September.
The vehicles have been inaccessible since July 9th when structural
damage was discovered in the parking garage during active, unpermitted

(01:34):
construction work. Anne Arundel County evacuated more than 100 people
from the 10-story office building and declared it unsafe for occupancy.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
No injuries were reported.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
First stop, car wash, and get the trash bags in.
Can you imagine if you left, like, food in there
or something? You know, like McDonald's bags.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
All over the summer.

Speaker 4 (01:51):
All right, Annapolis leaders are proposing a series of parking reforms,
including easier payment options, changes to fines and citations, and
a new pay-on-exit system at One City Garage to make
parking simpler.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
And more user-friendly.

Speaker 4 (02:05):
The recommendations will be presented to Annapolis' Transportation Committee during
a public meeting on Wednesday, marking the next step in
the city's effort to overhaul its parking system. While the
full reform is not expected to be completed until the
end of next year, officials say several changes could happen sooner.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
The Ravens start the season with a W.

Speaker 4 (02:25):
The Ravens offense was firing in all cylinders during their
win over the Colts. 300-yard passer, 100-yard rusher, 150-yard receiver
for the first time in franchise history.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
The offense was on fire.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
Yeah, they were.

Speaker 4 (02:37):
And there was Zay Flowers. Yeah, so the offensive explosion
was mostly in that first half when they scored the
31 points and Zay was still in the game. He
had five catches for 150 yards and a touchdown on
the first half. before that hamstring injury forced him to
miss the rest of the game. Then they turned to
Derrick Henry in the second half, who pounded the Colts
for 81 yards and 13 carries.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
Ravens next Sunday against the Saints.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
We have such big news. I think we should get
right to it because the Lukes are on the loose.
Which Luke do you like better, Luke Bryan or Luke Combs?
I haven't met Luke Combs.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
I don't know yet.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
I'm talking about their music, though. Is there one that
you are more attracted to?

Speaker 2 (03:13):
No, both of them are great.

Speaker 5 (03:15):
We pay top notch dollars around here to get these.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
OK, thank you. These jingle singers.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
You didn't do that for yourself.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
Oh, no, I didn't. So the news is Luke Bryan
and Luke Combs are going to world premiere a brand
new song together. That's the news. It's called Finders Keepers
featuring Luke Bryan and featuring Luke Combs. It's a little
Luke and a little Luke.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
I like all the Lukes.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
Yeah. I mean, you can't get a song that's more
Lukey than that. So that is going to be world
premiered this Friday morning here on 93.1 WPSC. That is
your Music City Minute. We got to get to right
to giving away the money. I'm so excited. I believe.
Let me go right to the lines. And we've been
waiting to give away the money all weekend long. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
You thought this was Jesse Mentor?

Speaker 1 (04:06):
Well, he said his name was Jesse. Hold on. He's
had to go walk away from the phone for a second.
All right, Jesse, come back over here. Let's go.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
It's time for the 93.1 WPOC High Low Jackpot.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
And we try to fit our show in around your schedule.
And Jesse, wait a minute. Is this really Jesse? Jesse
from the Ravens? I was going to congratulate you on
a great game.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
Are you a Ravens fan?

Speaker 5 (04:33):
Yeah, it was a good game.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
Yeah. And I was also going to say, if you're
Jesse from the Ravens, fix those penalties. We had way
too many penalties. We did.

Speaker 4 (04:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
But otherwise, I was very happy with the performance. I
guess you would agree. Oh, yeah. Yes, I was, too.
Very nice. So, Jesse, where are you from, bud? Oh, Jesse,
the name of crabs. All right. Well, Jesse, Jesse, not
only do you have large crabs, you also may have
a lot of money. Let's see how much you're going

(05:07):
to get. It's high-low jackpot number one, somewhere between $ 100
and $ 2, 500. That's enough to buy at least four crabs. So.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
And maybe a half a tank of fuel.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
Yeah, exactly. So how much money do you guess is
in that jackpot there, Jesse? Let's go with $ 2230. Jesse,
if you wouldn't mind, repeat that one more time. Just
want to make sure I hear you correctly. Let's go.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
$ 2230.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
And you're going to lock it in? Yes, lock it in.

Speaker 4 (05:44):
All right.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
Here we go. Let's go. Jesse, I'm sorry. That is
too low. That's all we can say this time.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
All right. Thank you for trying.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
$ 30. Is that what he's saying? All right. We're almost there.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
You've been giving it your best guess, but no one's
figured it out yet.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
You know, actually, with Garth Brooks in town, this weekend,
this all works out great because I'm going to be
tied up Friday and Saturday night. My son is getting married. Oh. So, Garth,
we'll just have you over the wedding. We'll have him play.
He can join in with the band. Oh. Wouldn't that
be cool?

Speaker 4 (06:18):
Well, you know, we. What, was it in Denver, right?
He went to a smaller venue and played?

Speaker 1 (06:23):
That could easily happen. It could easily happen. The Garth
could just come walking into Cancun. Can you imagine? You're
at Cancun Canteen, and they're like, we've got a little
surprise tonight. And it's Garth on stage. Oh, my gosh.
People would lose it.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
By the way, we don't have any confirmation that anything
of this is happening.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
No, we don't.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
We're not starting anything.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
I'm not starting anything. I'm just saying that he did
it in Denver. And who knows if Garth is going
to pull something. You never know with this dude.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
He could just pop up anywhere.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
So you were saying.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
A lot of people like to bring signs. Yeah. So
if you're going to the Garth Brooks concert this weekend,
what's it, Friday and Saturday in D.C., And you're planning
to have a sign because people like to hold up
signs so that he'll sing whatever song it is. Okay.
You know, like you want to do your anniversary. A

(07:14):
lot of people have a reason why a song is
particularly personally important or What is it? What is it
that you're going to put on your sign for Garth
Brooks this weekend? We want to hear about it.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
Yeah. Text is 77962.

Speaker 4 (07:25):
Start with hair high.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
800-321-3693. We're getting ready for concerts. We're telling you Garth
Brooks is coming to town this weekend. We've been hearing
from Garth fans all excited about it. And, you know,
when you go to a show, a lot of times
people try to take a picture. You'll take a selfie.
You'll want to, you know, show that you're at the concert.
And maybe it's just me. Oh, stop it. Right now,

(07:49):
as I'm speaking, Candice is scrolling through. How many pictures
do you have in your phone?

Speaker 2 (07:54):
I was trying to find out, but I have to
get to the bottom of them.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
It's like 100,000 pictures.

Speaker 2 (07:59):
It's close.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
85,950.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
That's insane.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
That is absolutely insane. First off, and they constantly ask
me on my iPhone. They're like, you want to buy
more memory? I'm like, no, I don't want to buy
more memory. I delete the pictures. I don't, you know.
It's like once there are a couple of weeks, I
just don't hang on to pictures. You, on the other hand,
I was looking through your phone and every picture with
every celebrity, you have the exact same pose. She's like,

(08:21):
she stands like this. And what is it called? The teacup? Teacup.
You teacup it. You put your hand on your hip.
And you put a lot of thought into it because
you look great in every picture.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
Well, thanks. But Ava and I were just having discussion.

Speaker 4 (08:35):
When you take a picture, there's so many things that
go through my mind as you're taking the picture. Like,
you got to have the chin in a certain place,
the hand in a certain place.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
You don't have to deal with any of this.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
You know what I'm thinking about when I'm taking a picture?

Speaker 2 (08:47):
Ladies, please support me.

Speaker 1 (08:49):
Tell me that this is a real thing. Do you really, like,
spend that much time thinking about how to stand? Ava,
you do the whole thing?

Speaker 2 (08:56):
Oh, my God.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
All the time. Is this with selfies or all pictures?
All pictures.

Speaker 4 (09:01):
I will need a full-length mirror behind the photographer when
I get married.

Speaker 1 (09:05):
Oh, my gosh.

Speaker 4 (09:05):
No, she said that she flips another camera onto the
one that's taking her picture so that it basically acts
as a mirror so she can see what she looks like,
which is very smart.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
I've never heard of that.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
You know what I'm thinking about when I take a picture?
Can we get this done so I can go get
a beer? I'm like... I just don't care. Seriously. Is
this done? All right, great. All right. You got your picture. No, no, no.

Speaker 4 (09:30):
I am so glad that you weren't with Jason Aldean
and Luke Bryan when Ava and I walked in that room.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
Why?

Speaker 4 (09:35):
Hold on.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
This light here and this light here.

Speaker 1 (09:37):
Oh, my God.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
We reorganized the whole room.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
You know what they were both thinking? These girls are nuts. Oh,
we don't care. That's okay. I don't care.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
I don't care. All right, southbound side of 95.

Speaker 4 (09:44):
There's an accident between White Marsh Boulevard and 695. Left
shoulder is blocked and it is slow leading up towards
the scene. No problems to report out along 40. We
did have a cleanup from an overturned tractor trailer northbound
side of 95 off ramp to the northbound side of 24.
out of loop side of the beltway it's heavy taking
it from belair road down towards providence road 795 up
towards 70 and then out on 70 it's low from

(10:06):
marriottsville road up towards 29 i'm candace dolden that's your traffic.

Speaker 1 (10:09):
What are you going to do with those 80 000
pictures when something happens to you You know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (10:14):
Pass them along. My daughters can live vicariously.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
What do we do with all mom's pictures? You know,
I just find like digging through all kinds of stuff
for the show that President McKinley died on this day
in 1901. He was assassinated. We never hear about President
McKinley being assassinated. You hear about Kennedy. You hear about
the other.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
Well, 1901.

Speaker 1 (10:38):
It was 100 years ago. But I just make the
point that look at that. Just 100 years and no
one pays attention. So 100 years from now, are they
going to remember what you do today? Probably not. But
make it a good day. And we're trying to help
you do just that.

Speaker 3 (10:51):
Your pop culture protein boost. It's The Brief on 93.1 WPOC.

Speaker 2 (12:39):
I'm Candace Dold, and that's your Brave.

Speaker 1 (12:40):
We were talking about pictures a little earlier, and selfies
have gotten ridiculous, haven't they? But you know what would
be really cool? I'm wondering if Jeannie could take a
picture of herself right now, because she might be able
to get at the exact moment that she wins all
the cash in our high-low jackpot. What do you think?

Speaker 2 (12:56):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (12:56):
Let's go and find out.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
All right.

Speaker 3 (12:58):
It's time for the 93.1 WPOC High Low Jackpot.

Speaker 1 (13:03):
She's a genie in a bottle. Let's rub it and
hopefully you'll get some good luck, genie. Where are you from? Okay. Okay.
She had to think about it for a second.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
That's all right.

Speaker 1 (13:12):
She's so focused on the money.

Speaker 2 (13:14):
There's a lot going on here.

Speaker 1 (13:15):
Genie, they say number 14 is a charm. So what's
going to happen? Let's see. How much money is in
High Low Jackpot number one? Come on, Jean. Okay, this
has been my guess all along.

Speaker 5 (13:27):
I'm going to say 2244.

Speaker 2 (13:28):
2244.

Speaker 4 (13:28):
Is there a reason you're going 2244?

Speaker 1 (13:29):
It's just my gut feeling. All right, well, 2244. 2244. Well,
your gut's a little too big, if you know what
I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (13:44):
Don't listen to him.

Speaker 1 (13:47):
He means your gut feeling.

Speaker 2 (13:49):
Can you please call us back at 910 so that
you can win some money?

Speaker 1 (13:54):
Okay, that was funny. You have to admit. All right.
It was. Yeah, well, listen, my gut's too big, too.
That makes two of us.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
I have no comment.

Speaker 1 (14:04):
Well, she said she was going with her gut. It
was a little high.

Speaker 2 (14:07):
Yeah, gut feeling.

Speaker 1 (14:08):
Oh, I got you. All right. So, yeah, that is
the way we do it. And we have to tell
you this, too. This is very, very, very important. but
no one's figured it out yet.

Speaker 3 (14:19):
Your next chance at our high-low jackpot is at 910
on 93.1 WPOC.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
So what are you going to do at 910? That
is the question. Are you going to be prepared? Are
you going to be ready? Are you going to be...
Michael J's Music City Minute.

Speaker 3 (14:33):
In 60 seconds, you're going to know like you're on
Music Row.

Speaker 1 (14:36):
I have to make plans for my entire life around 93.1 WPOC,
so I don't miss.

Speaker 2 (14:41):
Right. 7-10, 8-10, 9-10.

Speaker 1 (14:43):
Exactly. And the other thing you've got to plan on
is the Music City Minute, so you know what's going on.
We broke open the big news this morning that the
Lukes have hooked up, and they are creating a Luke
Society of all Lukes. It's going to be Luke Holmes
and Luke Bryan.

Speaker 2 (14:59):
So what are they doing?

Speaker 1 (15:00):
They're doing a new song, and we're going to give
you the iHeartCountry World Premiere. of Luke and Luke right
here this Friday morning. However, my son, of all the
days he decides to get married, I'm like, couldn't you
have done it on a day that we don't have
a world premiere with Luke Bryan and Luke Combs? Because
I'm not going to be here.

Speaker 4 (15:20):
This is also the day that you try to reserve
concert tickets for.

Speaker 1 (15:24):
Oh, yeah. So the boss is like, hey, you want
to go see Garth Brooks this weekend?

Speaker 3 (15:27):
I'm like, sure.

Speaker 1 (15:28):
I'll take it.

Speaker 4 (15:28):
Then this morning, I'm like, your son's getting married this weekend.

Speaker 1 (15:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (15:33):
You're not going to see Garth.

Speaker 5 (15:34):
Yeah, I just realized that. This is how I fly.

Speaker 1 (15:41):
And it's so funny because Candace is so, like, you
have things, you know where you're going to be at 12.05 p.m. Yes.
Three Thursdays from now. And I'm like, yeah, I just roll.
You know what I mean? I'm like, yeah, I go
to the Garth.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
You're not rolling to Garth Brooks.

Speaker 1 (15:54):
Oh, I can't go to Garth Brooks because my son's
getting married. So I'm a little tied up.
