Ninety three point one WDPOC. You know Candace has a
walk up song. I don't know if you remembered it
or not, but I thought i'd share it with you.

(00:41):
Candace has a walk up song that sounds like this.
That's Candace's walk up song. When Mallory's filling in. She's
got one.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
Brown eyed God five.

Speaker 1 (00:59):
And then I got mine. I'm ready for the Hall
of Fame induction Monday night. Here's mine.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
Yeah, living in your radio alway.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Anyway, I love Toby Keith and I was. I'm such
a huge Toby fan, and we do have carries walk up.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
Now, carry on, carry on.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
You can't carrying up with you any long day long
till six, carrying you home till then you gotta carry
and she's carrying on you.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
Are pop culture protein boost.

Speaker 4 (01:34):
It's the brief on ninety three point onepoc.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
All right.

Speaker 5 (01:40):
Ocean City leaders are facing pressure to do something about
teen mob style takeovers. Residents say they're leading to fights
and violence. Local leaders have appealed for state help during
a special legislative session, but that request was denied. Ocean
City officials are now putting it back on the parents.
They say, you guys have got to take responsibility for
your children actions and their whereabouts. That's the only way

(02:03):
to address the problem. Ticketmaster trying out a new plan
to stop mass ticket scalping. The process requires some customers
to submit selfies and government IDs. Right yeah, it's prompting
some safety concerns and privacy concerns, but an estimated sixty
percent of ticket sales on those sites are from bots.
Ticketmaster says this is the only way to help real fans,

(02:24):
not bots, get a fair shot at tickets.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
And how are they going to know if the bots
aren't putting up AI images?

Speaker 2 (02:31):
Right? You know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (02:32):
Now you can see AI images and think, well that
she looks good to beating.

Speaker 5 (02:36):
I know it's gonna be an issue because they're only
going to get smarter.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
Those bats.

Speaker 5 (02:40):
And glen Burnie residents are opposing a project to develop
a seventy two acres site into a regional park. The
proposed Marley Creek Regional Park, they say would ruin their quiet,
wooded neighborhood. They're accepting public input until September. First, I'm Carrie,
and that's your brief.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
How many people had planned on going to seem Oregon
Wallen when he came to Baltimore and then couldn't make
the show?

Speaker 2 (03:04):
I understand, Carrie.

Speaker 5 (03:05):
You didn't make it. I was totally bummed.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
And your plans yet some things that came up and
you couldn't make I mean that's.

Speaker 5 (03:12):
Like, oh well, Ella Langley, I was so excited.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
Well they'll be next time.

Speaker 4 (03:17):
Jay's Music City minute in sixty seconds.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
Do you don't know like you own music grow? Hey?

Speaker 1 (03:23):
We do have some big stories here this morning, and
one of them involves Shania Twain, who is back.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
I mean, she's you know, she's been.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
Around for a long time, but she drops a new
music's got the new album? She has now said she's
got a secret that she has lived by, and this
is how she's basically looked at life. She says, you
can't rely on anyone else, and you certainly can't rely
on someone to push you out of a plane.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
You just have to jump. I like it.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
So I guess what she's trying to say is you
know you can only depend on yourself.

Speaker 5 (04:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
Right, I'd certainly serve her.

Speaker 5 (04:02):
Well.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
I mean, she's done really really well.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
Do you think that she's still in her sixties at
this point going to be able to entertain people the
way she used to?

Speaker 5 (04:12):
She never goes out of style. My ten year old
and eight year old daughters love Shania Twain. All right,
there's something as soon as you hear that, Let's go girls. Yeah,
it just brings you a lot.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
All right.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
Well, Luke Combs is having no problems touring the world.
And he was spotted at a place called Morans on
the Weir. And I'm probably messing up how you say
this because I've never been to Ireland, but it's called
Moran's or Morons or Morans on the Weir in kill Colgan, Ireland.
After his slain Castle gigs, and everybody recognized him in

(04:46):
there and he's very cool talking to fans. It was
the first time a country artist performed at slain Castle,
the venue that's already hosted Madonna, emin m and you two.
Now country music has come to Ireland and I'm glad
to hear that he's doing it. Garth Brooks rocked in Ireland,
so why shouldn't Luke Combs be?

Speaker 2 (05:08):
That is your music city minute?

Speaker 1 (05:10):
All right, We've learned a little bit about Shanaia Twain
this morning, who says you can't rely on anyone else.
She's independent, she really is. She says, you can't rely
on anyone else. You've got to jump yourself. In other words,
you can't rely on somebody to push you out of
the plane. You can't have somebody that's supporting you. You

(05:32):
can't have somebody else that you're gonna rely. She must
have gotten it. Sounds like the thing with her and
Mutt Lang. She was married to the guy from ac
DC and they were together for a long time and
then they split, and I think that might have really
left her looking at life a.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
Little different, feeling independent.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
Yeah, well, feel and also hurt. Maybe you know what
I mean, because we all don't. We all have to
depend on each other at some point. I mean, I
don't know, that's what it seems like it's about. Well,
yesterday we were talking about what men do more than women, right,
and we heard a lot of responses. But after we
got off the air, I checked the talkback mike and

(06:11):
it had blown up.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
Here are a few that came in.

Speaker 5 (06:14):
I'd say men play on their phone more than women
do nowadays.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
Do you and your husband who plays on their phone more?

Speaker 5 (06:22):
Definitely my husband. I feel like he has three screens
going at any given time, and.

Speaker 1 (06:28):
Is he working on that phone or is he just
goofing around looking He's like doom scrolling.

Speaker 5 (06:33):
He's usually reading some sort of sports score, right, yeah,
keep up with everything.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
Or there's these text chains.

Speaker 5 (06:40):
He'll be watching the Ravens game, but then there's a
group text about every single play where they're all giving
their opinion.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
Oh yeah, that's the best.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
It's fun to watch anything that's happening in the moment
with all your buddies. Yes, on a text chain, it
is what do you think that men do more than women?

Speaker 2 (06:56):
Have more time drinking in the bars than women do?

Speaker 4 (06:59):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (06:59):
Do does your husband send more time in the bar?

Speaker 5 (07:02):
You know he's not really a bar bar kind of guy.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
Yeah, well apparently she thinks that they don't, right.

Speaker 6 (07:08):
What about you, hey, Michael Jade's just Tracy. I would
have to say that would be grooming, whether it be
their hair, their beard and mustache or a little bit
of man escaption going on.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
Gifts man escaption. I don't love about man escaption.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
And what about you one more, Michael j I think
men spend way more time.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
No, you can't.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
You can't say that, and I don't think that's true anyway.
But the answer was watching TV. Men spend more time
watching TV than women do.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
Facts. I think so facts.

Speaker 1 (07:48):
Yeah, all right, we learned something new every day. Well,
we've got some big Thomas ret news this morning.

Speaker 4 (07:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
Are you a big Thomas Rhet fan? Love Thomas Rhett.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
The last time I saw him at Merriweather the place
was packed. Everyone was on their feet and he I mean,
he's just he's so much fun.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
Yeah, you know all of his songs.

Speaker 1 (08:07):
In fact, one of his big hits, a song that
went to number one, Ain't a Bad Life, along with
Jordan Davis.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
Two of them are gonna perform it.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
Actually, they already have for season two of a Netflix
original series, Ransom Canyon.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
I haven't watched that yet, but we're gonna have to
watch it.

Speaker 5 (08:24):
I watched season one, Love season one. I have not
started season two, but it's great.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
So I did it just drop season two? It's just
last week it dropped, so you can look for it now.
Thomas Rhett and Jordan Davis performing the song. We're gonna
play that for you in a second. But we're giving
away tickets.

Speaker 5 (08:40):
Yes, So if you want to see Thomas Rhett August
thirteenth at Meriweather, all you have to do is leave
us a talkback message, tell us your name, where you're from.
You could go see Thomas Rhtt and there's a meet
and greet.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
Wow, I'm gonna say there's more.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
We have meet and greets along with this deal too,
So hey, if you want to hang out with the
goobersmoochers or whatever, I don't know, you know.

Speaker 2 (09:05):
The big wigs backstage people.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
Literally, I always wonder, you know, you when you go
to a game, you know, and you're watching the Orioles,
like what's going on in the dugout?

Speaker 2 (09:15):
Same thing when I'm at a concert, I'm.

Speaker 1 (09:17):

know that would be so cool Thomas red tickets. So

you we'll be doing this all weekend on our iHeartRadio app.

got to help you out.

Speaker 1 (09:46):
Yeah, So if you have the iHeartRadio app, that's the
first thing you got to check. And maybe everyone doesn't
have it, right, it's free. You can download it. You
go to the app store or Google Play. You just
look for the iHeart app and you'll see it and
then download it.

Speaker 2 (10:04):
And the cool thing about it is.

Speaker 1 (10:06):
You'll be able to listen to WPOC everywhere you go,
all right, And when you're listening, when you search WPOC,
all right, you go to this little thing called the
iHeartRadio app talkback Mike, and it's a little red box
with a white microphone top right hand corner. When you're
listening to WPOC, and then you click it, you give

(10:29):
us your name, tell us where you're listening, and you
could win the Thomas Rhett tickets and meet and greets.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
Like it is, Kathleen, I WPOC and.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
There you go, Kathleen, you're but she didn't say where
she's from. See, that's where you're from, Kathleen.

come over your house and raid your fridge. You never know,
you know, I mean over the weekend, a kid can get.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
Hungry, right right.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
Zach Brown, his wife Kendra Scott, and his team took
on Mickey Geiton's team on Family Feud. And here's the
end of what happened. This is pretty cool because I
think Zach did well. Zach Brown one, Zach Brown one. Yeah,

(11:13):
So he won for Camp Southern Ground, which is that
charity that he does, you know, for inner city kids.

Speaker 2 (11:20):
Your pop culture protein boost.

Speaker 4 (11:22):
It's the brief on ninety three point ONEPOC.

Speaker 1 (11:26):

it at home for the kids.

Speaker 2 (11:30):
Yeah, all right, guys.

Speaker 5 (11:32):
Ocean City leaders are facing pressure to do something about
teen takeovers in public places like the boardwalk. Residents say
mobs of teens are leading to fights and violence.

Speaker 2 (11:42):
Yeah. Local leaders appealed to.

Speaker 5 (11:43):
The state for help during a special legislative session, but
the request was denied. So now Ocean City officials are
asking parents to please help address the problem. Take responsibility
for your kids' actions and whereabouts. After five decades, a
Giant food store in Baltimore County will be closing. The
grocery store on Belair Road and Nottingham will be permanently

(12:03):
closed on August six. Yeah, impacted employees are being given
the chance to transfer to another Giant food store.

Speaker 2 (12:10):
I wonder what to do with the store. Maybe there's a.

Speaker 5 (12:13):
Couple of locations close by, and the company says they
think they can still serve the area with enough Giant
locations in other places. Right starting Monday, the Mall in
Columbia is rolling out paid parking so you could get
a primo spot. This is to help alleviate complaints about crowds,
especially on the weekends. The one hundred and twenty spots
will be near the entrance so you can get in

(12:33):
and out quickly, but it's gonna cost you.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
So the spots will cost.

Speaker 5 (12:38):
Two dollars and forty five cents for an hour, six
dollars and forty five cents for three hours, and ten
forty five for four or more.

Speaker 1 (12:47):
Well, you're probably there that long, and maybe a lot
of these are people that are going to the restaurants
or right.

Speaker 5 (12:53):
The restaurants, and it's right by that arcade. So if
you don't want to search around, pretty good option. Yeah,
there you go, Harry, And that's your brief.
