Speaker 1 (00:00):
Some mornings, it's tough to remember to take everything with
you out the door, your lunch, your security badge, whatever
you need to get in at work. The other mornings,
everything just seems to click. You know what the difference
is those slow mornings. You've probably missed ninety three point
one WPOC The Michael j Morning Show. Hope you can

(00:20):
join us every morning, but if you do happen to
miss anything, maybe you can catch it here on our podcast.
Thanks for checking in, follow, like, share, and keep listening.
Happy Mother's Day weekend to you down. Are you ready
to celebrate? Yeah? How many kids do you have? I

(00:42):
have a three boide ah and how old are they?
My oldest is twenty one? Okay, fourteen year old queen?
Uh huh, that's awesome. I'm also a teacher, so I
got lots.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
Of other boy, that's school.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
Oh my goodness, shout out to your school. Where do
you teach? The stats? Middle on Annapolis? I love that. Well,
don you're one of our winners. You're going to get
a fifty dollars gift card and you could probably use
a massage therapist now and again. Right, Oh yeah, what
do you got? That's that's got a knot in it

(01:16):
right now? Maybe your neck, your back? Where are you thinking?
Where do you want them to work on you? My shoulders?
My shoulders definitely bother me. I feel you. Hold on
one second, don because you're one of two winners we've got. Melinda.
You're a mom as well, aren't you?

Speaker 2 (01:32):
I am a mom?

Speaker 1 (01:33):
Well, Happy Mother's Day, Melinda. How many kids do you
have you? How many children?

Speaker 3 (01:39):
I have two daughters.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
I have a step daughter and a step son and
a step daughter in law.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
Well, I hope it's a wonderful Mother's Day weekend. And
let me ask you. You also get a fifty dollars
gift card for a massage therapist. We're going to tell
you all about in a second. Where do you need
them to work on you? Do you have a kink
someplace that you really need focus?

Speaker 3 (02:01):
I would say all over?

Speaker 1 (02:03):
She wants it all all right. Well you're both going
to toe Carspa Tokar SPA thank you to visit Howard County.
You're gonna be getting the workover and hopefully that'll make
you feel a lot better for Mother's Day. Now. I
would be really curious to know we talked about the
Mount Rushmore for country stars. What about a Maryland Mount
Rushmore for grocery stores and moms? Hopefully you're not going

(02:28):
to spend too much time at the grocery store on
Mother's Day weekend. Hopefully you can, you know, maybe skip it.
But we all have to go to the grocery now
and again. And I think it's kind of curious to
find out everybody's got their own impression of what stores
they go to. Maybe it's for price, maybe it's for quality,
maybe you know, whatever it might be. Maybe you go

(02:49):
to different stores because you got to get different things.
You know, some things have better meet something whatever. But
if you had to pick your grocery store Mount Rushmore
in Maryland, what would those stores be? What would you
put up there? I think it's interesting because we just
got a customer satisfaction survey back after talking to thousands

(03:13):
of grocery store shoppers in Maryland. Here is the countdown,
and if you want to give us your Mount Rushmore
of grocery stores, you can tax seven seven nine six two,
start with hey or high. You can also call eight
hundred and three two one thirty six ninety three. But
here we go. This is the official survey for customer

(03:34):
satisfaction based on quality, popularity, and a number of other attributes.
The most trusted grocery stores in Maryland see if any
of yours are on here, or if you disagree. Number
five Harris Teeter, noted for superior produce, meat quality, and

(03:55):
helpful staff compared to other conventional Maryland chains. A lot
of people like Hairs Teeter, and there may or may
not be a Haris Teeter in your area. I mean there's,
you know, some in various parts of Maryland. Anyway, they're
number five. Number four Aldi top rated for affordability and trust.
Recognized for low prices without sacrificing quality. So a lot

(04:18):
of people like Ali, I'm keeping my opinions here to myself.
I'm giving you the top five. I'll weigh in with
our opinions after we're done. Number three Costco Wholesale ranked
highly by both quality and value. Prices reported over twenty
percent cheaper than conventional retailers, even like Walmart. So a

(04:43):
lot of people going with Costco. I like Sam's Club.
This is where I'm going to weigh in. I like Sam,
so I go to Sam's not Costco. And you know,
I don't know why one's better than the other. I
haven't compared them, to be honest. I just think it's
convenient to go to Sam's because it's right where I drive,
So shout out Sam's. But they didn't make the top
five Costco did. Number two Wegmans recognize for excellent quality,

(05:10):
especially in produce and high overall customer satisfaction, and the
number one grocery store in Maryland. And the answer is
Trader Joe's frequently rated as one of the most trusted
brands in the US do to high customer satisfaction and quality,

(05:31):
and Ava, our super producer here says that's the best
place to get Mother's Day greeting cards because they have
a good deal. So, hey, shout out Trader Joe's. Now,
you know what everyone else says, What do you say
you are? Pop culture protein boost? It's the brief. On
ninety three point ONEPOC.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
A fifty nine year old man from mellan Ay was
charged with impersonating a police officer after attempting to execute
a traffic stop on six 't ninety five in Baltimore County.
The incident happened when the man driving on Ford Explore
flashed blue and white lights at an off duty military
law enforcement officer, who then called nine to one one.
The man drove past the officer and was later arrested

(06:12):
at a gas station in Lansdowne, and investigation is ongoing.
The teen driver involved in a crash in Cockeysville last
week has died. The driver was identified as sixteen year
old Andrew Sober. The accident happened around nine to forty
five at night on May first. Officers were called to
the intersection of Poplar Hill Road and Merriman's Mill Road
for a reported single vehicle crash. The preliminary investigation found

(06:35):
the twenty sixteen Toyota Prius was traveling southbound on Poplar
Hill Road when it left the road and hit a cherry.
An adult passenger identified as eighteen year old Ryan de All,
was pronounced dead at the scene. Two juvenile passengers were
also taken to the hospital. In Enrondo County, leaders marked
the opening of the new Crownsville Fire Station six, a

(06:55):
fifteen million dollar facility that aims to enhance emergency coverage
firefighter safety. The station features larger base, updated equipment, and
cancer reduction measures for firefighters. The centralized location has already
increased call volume by about thirty percent.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
That is your brief there. It is the iHeart Country
World premiere, Kenny Chesney's carry On Here on a New
Country Friday.

Speaker 3 (07:20):
Michael Jay's Music City Minute in sixty seconds.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
You don't know like you own music row. Yeah, for
some reason, Friday is the day the record company has
decided they'd drop New Country. So you got to enjoy Kenny.
What else is going on from Nashville today? Well, I
don't know if this is going to help the rumors,
because there's constantly rumors. I really don't like them. But
I did want to share a legitimate reason why Blake

(07:46):
Shelton was not at the Sphere in Vegas to support
his wife Gwen Stefani. Her band No Doubt had a
big show there. Blake was absent, But Blake says he
had a gig the same exact time. I mean that
explains it. He was in Vegas at another venue and

(08:06):
he was on the clock, So I mean, what are
you gonna do? Sometimes husband and wife both have to
work at the same time. Well, this is a heartbreaking story.
Morgan Wallen just shared something very personal about a Michigan
family that he met last year. Thanks to make a wish,
little eight year old Jamison and his mom and dad

(08:27):
got to meet Morgan at a show last summer. Well.
Jamison was battling multiple aggressive forms of cancer and often
turned to Morgan Wallen's music for comfort. Well, very sadly,
Jamison lost his battle with cancer, but the connection was
not broken. We just got the news that Morgan Wallen

(08:48):
paid for all of the funeral expenses for the family. See,
he is a good guy. That is your music city minute.
Bizarre is her name, right?

Speaker 2 (08:58):
No?

Speaker 1 (08:59):
Zara is that what it is? Zora b Zara Larson,
Zara Larsen. All right, we just met Zara Lawson, Larsen Larsen.
He did not meet Zara. He saw Zara dancing. Yeah,
so she's something, huh apparently right up there with Ella Langley,

(09:19):
who she So listen, this is what it's really all
about here at ninety three point one WPSC. The month
of May is about our military. Yes, and this is
for anyone who has anybody who's in the military. You know,
there's no order. You don't have to be a general,
you don't have to be you know, anybody who has served, right,

(09:42):
we appreciate it and we want to express that. And
the way you do it is yet on the iHeartRadio app.
You click the talkback microphone button and then we can salute.
And that's what we do here. It's all brought to
you by Ashley Furniture saluting our troops. It's Military Appreciation
mone on WPOC and I really hope you'll give your

(10:03):
radio just a couple of seconds of your attention because
what you're about to hear shows the commitment of a
family who understands the word sacrifice. The Otzel family.

Speaker 2 (10:13):
Listen to this Oatzel family. I have three older brothers,
all four of us served in the army. Three of
our children have also served. One is still serving. He's
been in the Air Force for seventeen years. Between the
seven of us, we have seventy seven years of service

(10:34):
to this great nation. So my salute goes out.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
Isn't that amazing? Incredible seventy seven years of service in
one family, family, the Otzel family. So we say thank you.
I don't think thank you was enough.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
No it's not. But it's not thank you. It is
not enough to any of our military members. I mean,
we are indebted to you.

Speaker 1 (10:54):
So military Appreciation month. The pressure is on. I would
keep calling if I were not on the air right now,
just because Billy Joe may or may not deal with
the heat. Billy Joe, I'm rooting for you, but this
is for Megan Maroney tickets. So Candice, these are these
questions could stump Billy Joe. And if we have to
hang up on you, then we'll go to another line.

(11:16):
All right, all right, let's fine, I think we get started.
We're rooting for you, Billy Joe. I want you to win.
I'm open now, all right, because but the pressures off.
She really put it on, all right.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
First question, name something people commonly give their moms for
Mother's Day?

Speaker 1 (11:33):
All right, what do you give your mom for Mother's Day?

Speaker 3 (11:35):
Go?

Speaker 1 (11:36):
Flowers? All right, flowers?

Speaker 3 (11:38):
There you go, you got one, all right, Next one,
what day of the year.

Speaker 1 (11:43):
Is Mother's Day? What day of the year's Mother's Day?
Go Sunday? Sunday?

Speaker 2 (11:48):
This Sunday?

Speaker 1 (11:50):
All right, we'll accept that. But the real answer is
the second, second Sunday of May. But she said this Sunday,
so she's not wrong. You can't not give her.

Speaker 3 (11:59):
That, okay, all right, all right, last one, there we go,
Mother's Day. Is the third most popular card sending and
giving holiday. What is the most popular card sending holiday?

Speaker 1 (12:13):
Popular card sending holiday? Go? The most popular would be
I knew I was gonna have and we're gonna hang
up on Billy Joe. Oh, I hate doing that. Ninety
three point one w POC. Who is this? Moll Mollie Cally. Now, okay,

(12:34):
we'll run through it again real quick, because you probably
have the first two answers to all right, First, I'm
thank you buy and I haven't heard the question yet.
Give her the questions.

Speaker 3 (12:46):
The first one, name something people commonly give their moms
for Mother's Day?

Speaker 1 (12:52):
Go flower? Yeah, that's Next one. What day of the
year is Mother's Day? Day of the years? Mother's Day?

Speaker 3 (13:00):
Go?

Speaker 2 (13:01):
It was on a Sunday.

Speaker 1 (13:04):
She got you got it? She got it? All right?

Speaker 3 (13:05):
Last one, Mother's Day is the third most popular cards
sending holiday. What is the most popular card sending holiday?

Speaker 1 (13:14):

thought it was Valentine's all right, So here's Molly. Here's
what I'm gonna tell you. Valentine's Day is number two.
But you we got to hang up on you too,
because you didn't get the right one. All right, we're
down to just the last question stumping people, So let's
see whatever. What is your what is your name? You're

(13:35):
in the air. It's billy Joe again. Hey did you
do that? Oh my goodness, tell them all seven lines
are ringing it somehow. That's amazing. That is amazing. Alright,
Billy Joe, you get another shot at the at the
third question.

Speaker 3 (13:50):
Here we go, just the third, just the third question.
Mother's Day is the third most popular card sending holiday?
What is the most popular card sending holiday?

Speaker 1 (14:00):
