Listen ause we are so far from Earth and looking
back at you know, the beauty of creation. For me,
one of the really important perspectives that I have up
here is you guys are talking to us because we're
in a spaceship really far from Earth, but you're on
a spaceship called Earth that was created to give us
a place to live in the universe. Maybe the distance
we are from you makes you think what we're doing
is special. But we're the same distance from you, And

(01:49):
I'm trying to tell you just trust me, you are special.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:02):
Let's get them, Okay, A New Canton restaurant Want to Smash,
was the target of a break in not even one
week after opening its doors. Video captured two men throwing
something through the side door of the business on O'Donnell Street.
They came in three times in one night. The first
time they took registers, iPads, computers, printers. Then they came
back twenty minutes later and they took a safe, and

(02:24):
then they came back a third time, loaded up trash
cans with alcohol and pretty much swiped all the tila.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
So do we know how these people are on their cameras?

Speaker 3 (02:34):
So there, I guess the investigation is underway. Damages and
stolen items combined between eight to ten thousand dollars.

Speaker 4 (02:41):
That's terrible, it is. That is your brief.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
Cover your eyes.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
I want a real Tim McGrath fan to win these tickets.

Speaker 4 (02:50):

real Tim.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
What's your name?

Speaker 3 (03:40):
Buddy?

Speaker 2 (03:41):
I'm sure I just just started driving to work and
I heard the radio one that heard the glass break.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
There you go who. Combs says he knew Hurricane was
going to establish his career. The rest of that story.
In the Music City Minute Jays Music City.

Speaker 5 (03:59):
Minute sixty seconds, you gon't know like you own music.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
Row Luke, Colmbs says he knew his twenty sixteen hit
Hurricane would make him a star, and he was right.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
It was a decade ago. I can't believe it's been
ten years.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
Canvas. Luke performed the song for Blake Shelton, impressing industry
insiders despite being sick at the time.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
The performance led Luke to his success.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
Hurricane topped the country charts and the rest of his history.
The song's success was a turning point for Luke, propelling
him to start him in the world of country music.
All Right, the other big news that's going on today
Darius Rucker, who you may know at one point was
married to a lady from Baltimore. Well, he's from Charleston
and he still calls that home even though he's in

(04:47):
Nashville now and again doing country music. So he has
this annual thing. I'm just looking at the press release
on this. It's a lot like country Calling is down
in Ocean City. You know, we have that festival that
goes on down there. Well, he calls it the Riverfront Festival,
and it's going on in Charleston the weekend of Friday

(05:08):
and Saturday, October tenth and eleventh. They just announced it.
Tickets went on sale for this. The Friday night show
is headlined by Dylan Marlowe, Lucas Nelson, the Red Clay Strays,
and Riley Green. And then the Saturday night deal is
Britney Spencer, Flatland Cavalry, Whiskey Myers, and Darius Rucker.

Speaker 4 (05:28):
And apparently he's running this.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
Well it's his They always make him the star of
it every year because it's Charleston. It wouldn't be the
same without Dais. So it's kind of like a homecoming.
It'd be like, you know, if the brothers Osborne came
back into the show for us every year and we
got low Cash and we get you know whoever, Jackson
Jackson Dean.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
Right, So that is your music city minute. Now we've
got some news this morning. We need you to weigh
in on this.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
You're at ninety three point one WPOC with Michael, Jay
and Candas. You know, let's just start with ourselves because
I have here. I'll run through my kids. Now, I've
got Zach. He's actually Zachary, but I love the name Zachary.
But he's like, I'm a Zach, just like I'm a Michael,
not a Mic. So I'm cool with that. I'm like,
he wants me to call him Zach's I got it.

(06:15):
And Kara is my new future daughter in law coming
up in September and the nineteenth.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
I'm very excited about that.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
She's awesome, she's she's a very sweet girl, very so
I'm very lucky. Then we've got Stephanie.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
Right. Then I've got Noah, and I've got Hope.

Speaker 4 (06:34):
So are all very different names.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
Yeah, but they're all I don't know, they just felt
right for each kid. Now you've got a collection as well.

Speaker 3 (06:43):
So we have Danny, and then we have Gianna, and
then we have Giata, and then we have Gella.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
I love those, but they are more on the unusual side,
like my names. I think are more like normal. Not
that your names are abnormal, more unusual. It is about
a way to put it. I love their beautiful names,
I really do. And it took me a second to
wrap my whole head around it.

Speaker 4 (07:07):
You learned it, and you know how to spell them, no.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
And well I do not to spell it.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
And Gianna, Giata and Giella all beautiful young ladies. And
so the reason we mentioned all these names is because.

Speaker 4 (07:20):
Duff, yes Doff Goldman, who was.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
A famous baker.

Speaker 3 (07:25):
Uh started in Charms City, in the Remington neighborhood and
just and.

Speaker 2 (07:28):
Really built an empire.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
Oh yeah, so I mean he's pretty cool and everybody
seems to know who Duff is.

Speaker 3 (07:34):
Yes, And so he then started out in La opened
up another location, and he got married out there. They
had a child in twenty nineteen, Josephine. Okay, but here's
the reason that we're really talking about all of this
is because they've just had another child in March thirty first,
and the name is Samurai.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
I like that.

Speaker 1 (07:55):
Well it's sam right, Yeah, the baby's going to be
sam wouldn't it.

Speaker 4 (08:00):
Saying so it's Samurai? Jack is the Okay, it's a
whole name.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
I think that's a cool name.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
It is, but it is unusual, right, And so this
got us to thinking, what are some of your children's
names maybe unique or usual or or do they have
names and people call them nicknames?

Speaker 4 (08:19):
And how do you feel about the nicknames?

Speaker 2 (08:21):
Right?

Speaker 1 (08:22):
We would love to know if you have a name
that compares to Samurai. I think it's a dual name
that I think about it, I do. We'd love to
hear from you. Eight hundred three two one thirty six
ninety three. You can tax seven seven nine sixty two
start with hair.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
High who ninety three.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
A lot of names coming in Duff name just kid Samurai.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
I like that.

Speaker 3 (08:47):
And so now we're asking you, are there any unique
names that you have in your family?

Speaker 1 (08:51):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (08:52):
Hi, my granddaughter's name is Olive, all right, I've heard
that one before. I have a son named Bo and
a daughter named Samantha Joe, Sammy Joe.

Speaker 4 (09:01):
I grew up with Sammy Joe.

Speaker 3 (09:03):
I have a gauge spelled with an I and a
Harper Grace first name.

Speaker 4 (09:07):
I love unusual, me too.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
We're hearing about some great names after Duff named his
son Samurai, which now I don't think is so unusual.

Speaker 3 (09:17):
No, we're getting a lot of texts about this. Hey,
I have grandchildren Brooklyn and Bronx. Oh wow, okay, there
has to be some meaning, right from New York. My
daughter's name is Cambriy Sandy Right, yeah, I think so.

Speaker 2 (09:34):

I have a Lily Miracle and a Cadence lyric. Oh wow,
the step of music a ka Cadence.

Speaker 1 (09:55):
Cadence is very close to Canden, but it's spelled differently.

Speaker 3 (10:00):

Speaker 2 (10:04):

Speaker 1 (10:10):
Let's see gauge gauge, yes, spelled with an eye and
Harper Grace got that one? Son is bo daughter named
Samantha Joe or Sammy Joe. I had a Sonny Joe
in Detroit.

Speaker 4 (10:23):
Oh did you Yeah?

Speaker 3 (10:24):
So there are definitely a lot of a lot of
different names amongst us.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
If you've got one, share it with his seven seven
nine six two. You can always text and start with
hay or high when you do text seven seven nine
six two or eight hundred three two one thirty six
ninety three.

Speaker 2 (10:40):
You have survived Easter weekend.

Speaker 1 (10:42):
And I promised I was going to ask did anybody
have like anything that just blew up your weekend?

Speaker 2 (10:48):
Any you know, everything went okay.

Speaker 4 (10:50):
Yeah, everything went okay with my family.

Speaker 1 (10:52):
There wasn't any you know, mishaps. A lot of times
you get family together and you never know what's gonna happen.
So throughout morning, if there was anything that happened over
the weekend that you want to share, funny, ironic, stressful,
you know.

Speaker 3 (11:07):
I mean, I hit a golden egg and didn't put
a dollar in it. My daughter was like, come on,
what's the point of the golden We're.

Speaker 1 (11:12):
Trying to navigate our way through all the unusual names
that were coming in last hour.

Speaker 2 (11:16):
Boy, oh boy, I'm Denise.

Speaker 1 (11:17):
I have a daughter chantale a grandson Josiah, a great
grandson Adonis, a granddaughter named Katawana Winner, and a great
grandson Elijah Hope.

Speaker 2 (11:29):

about that. That's a beautiful name.

Speaker 4 (11:33):
They are very different.

Speaker 2 (11:34):
What's on the brief next?

Speaker 3 (11:36):
Yes, four astronauts including a Maryland native or on their
way to the moon.

Speaker 2 (11:40):
You are pop culture protein boost.

Speaker 5 (11:43):
It's the brief on ninety three point one WPOC.

Speaker 3 (11:47):
We continue to track four astronauts on their way to
the moon on Artemis two, and that includes Maryland native
Red Wiseman. They are about twenty nine thousand miles from
the Moon two hundred and thirty nine thousand miles from Earth.
Ryan's spacecraft is now in the lunar sphere of influence,
so that means that the Moon's gravity has more pool

(12:08):
on the vehicle than the Earth at this point.

Speaker 4 (12:10):
At one forty six this afternoon.

Speaker 3 (12:12):
The crew will surpass a record for the farthest distance
traveled from Earth by human The astronauts did take a
moment to pause on Easter Sunday, as we are.

Speaker 5 (12:22):
So far from Earth and looking back at you know,
the beauty of creation For me one of the really
important perspectives that I have up here is you guys
are talking to us because we're in a spaceship really
far from Earth, but you're on a spaceship called Earth
that was created to give us a place to live
in the universe. Maybe the distance we are from you
makes you think what we're doing is special, But we're
the same distance from you, and I'm trying to tell you,

(12:44):
just trust me, you are special.

Speaker 4 (12:47):
Very interesting. So we'll see that history being made today.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
When there's a full moon? Does it affect you? Do
you feel like you can't sleep?

Speaker 4 (12:54):
I don't.

Speaker 2 (12:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (12:55):
I wonder if the moon, when you get closer to
it as an astronaut, if you feel like romantic or
you know, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (13:01):
We'll have to try to ask read when it comes
back here to Earth, all right. In Baltimore, a new
Canton restaurant, Wanna Smash, was the target of a break
in not even one week after opening its doors. Video
captured two men throwing something through the side door of
the business on O'donnald's Street.

Speaker 4 (13:17):
They came in three times in one night.

Speaker 3 (13:19):
First and took the registers, the iPads computers. Then they
came back twenty minutes later, and they took us safe.
And then they came back a third time. And that's
when they loaded up trash cans with alcohol and pretty
much swiped all of the tequila.

Speaker 4 (13:33):
Very interesting, The investigation continues. That is your brief Michael
Jay's music City minute in sixty seconds.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
You don't know like you own music road.

Speaker 1 (13:43):
How many people remember the song Amarillo by Morning from
George Strait.

Speaker 2 (13:48):
Amarillo by Morning? Do you remember that song? I'm gonna
have to play it for you, okay.

Speaker 1 (13:53):
It was one of his greatest hits, no doubt, and
it was inspired by a fed Ex television commercial. People
always wonder where the songs come from. The songwriters Terry
and Paul used to watch that on TV, and the
song Ammarillo by Morning is considered like one of George
Trait's anthems. It tells the story of a dedicated rodeo

(14:17):
cowboy facing challenges like money.

Speaker 2 (14:19):
Problems and broken bones.

Speaker 1 (14:22):
And trouble in love, as cowboys will have. So Terry, excuse.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
Me, Terry.

Speaker 4 (14:30):
Anyway. This song was released in nineteen eighty two.

Speaker 2 (14:33):
You probably got so choked.

Speaker 1 (14:35):
Terry was inspired to write the song after a long
drive from San Antonio to Almarillo, singing a FedEx commercial
that guaranteed next morning deliveried Amarillo.

Speaker 2 (14:46):
So he decided to write a song about it.

Speaker 4 (14:48):
That was a big deal back in those days.

Speaker 1 (14:49):
I play that song. What about Live Like You Were Dying?
Where do you think that came from?

Speaker 4 (14:56):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (14:57):
Well, it turns out it was written to encourage listeners
to live their life to the fullest, and it was
inspired from a conversation that Tim McGraw had with his father,
Toug McGraw, who had passed away from brain cancer. Tim
shared that his father's advice was to live like you
were dying, which became the central theme of the song.

Speaker 4 (15:20):
It's Tim McGraw. He's coming to this area only fifteenth.

Speaker 1 (15:24):
And we're giving away tickets. Who wants to win Tim
McGraw tickets? The deal tomorrow morning at seven ten. You
got to be listening for Tim. Now you know where
those two songs came from.
