Speaker 1 (00:00):
Some mornings, it's tough to remember to take everything with
you out the door, your lunch, your security badge, whatever
you need to get in at work. The other mornings,
everything just seems to click. You know what the difference
is those slow mornings you've probably missed ninety three point
one WPOC The Michael J Morning Show. Hope you can

(00:20):
join us every morning, but if you do happen to
miss anything, maybe you can catch it here on our podcast.
Thanks for checking in, follow, like, share, and keep listening.
Ninety three point one WPOC, Michael J and Candace. I've
explained before, Candace that the reason I have a I'm
not going to say a hatred, because hatred is a

(00:41):
strong word. I'm gonna say I'm gonna say a very
severe dislike of Pittsburgh and all things Pittsburgh.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
I'm just I'm just not.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
It started because the Orioles got whooped by this by
the UH Pirates when I was a little boy, right,
I didn't understand.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
I'm just I was crushed.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
Because my Orioles lost to the Pirates in seventy one
and seventy nine. And then the Ravens rivalry with the
Steelers heat it up and naturally I was sucked into it,
you know what I mean. And then those those terrible towels. Yay,
I've worn my fifty five sugs into what was called

(01:25):
Heinz Field. Now that they called something else. I don't
even know, but it's the same place. It feels like
when you're in the upper deck in that stadium, the
place is going to collapse because it's shaken back and forth.
It was made with like tinker toys. I don't know
what they did in Pittsburgh. I'm not a Steelers fan,
as you can tell. I'm all about our Ravens.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
Hon Now, well, that was brave to wear this Dugs
jersey into the stadium.

Speaker 4 (01:50):
I am good for you.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
Well, the reason I'm telling that is that's the reason
I got slapped in the head with a number of
terrible towels.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
I took it for the team. Oh, it's just so obnoxious.
It was.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
It was what it is. So this rivalry can get very,
very petty. There's a big story in the Sun today
we were just talking about off air. Does this story
irritate you at all?

Speaker 3 (02:15):
It does, so go ahead and explain a little bit
about the draft and the whole situation with Art Rooney.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
Okay, well, I don't want to get too deep into
the football part because we're not sports talk radio. We're
just about Baltimore and country music. But it kind of
irks me that the Steelers owner Art Rooney the Second
scanned over the seating chart for the draft this week,
which is being hosted by Pittsburgh, and he noticed that
Ravens fans were sitting in front of Steelers fans in

(02:44):
one section of the theater outside at for Shore Stadium,
that's what they call it now. It used to be Hinsfield,
so it was the way it was supposed to be.
Raven's fans were in front, which is the way it
should always be.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
But apparently he didn't like that.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
He talked to the NFL and he's now telling everybody
they moved the Ravens.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
Fans to put him behind the Steelers fans.

Speaker 4 (03:10):
Yeah, this isn't cool. Here's the other thing.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
Baltimore needs to host the NFL drafts, of.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
Course, and we have never hosted before. Why not, No,
it's the problem with that.

Speaker 3 (03:22):
Well, apparently they've begun talks with the NFL, so maybe
in the next few years it could happen.

Speaker 4 (03:28):
But you're right. The Pittsburgh rivalry just hits different.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
All right, Well, let's ask does it bother you as
a Ravens fan, which I'm sure everyone is watch this.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
The first call will be like, I'm a Steelers fan,
Ravens Zach.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
I'm sure we're gonna hear the phones. No, because we
do have Steelers fans here. I realize we're surrounded by him,
which makes it even more painful. Take those terrible towels,
you know where you can put them. Uh So, So
here's the thing. Does it bother you as a Ravens
fan that the owner of the Steelers got the NFL
to move VENs fans and take them away from being
in front of the Steelers fan? I know it's ridiculous,

(04:05):
It's like second grade, but go Ravens, go ahead.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
You make so much sense.

Speaker 4 (04:09):
I'm a Ravens fan, thank god, and.

Speaker 5 (04:12):
I get your point. I'm wanting to be up front,
but I would not want backstabbers.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
Behind me.

Speaker 5 (04:19):
In front in front of us.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
You don't want to sit in front of a Steelers fan,
right because you're afraid of it. What's gonna happen? You're
gonna have something thrown at you know, it's not you.

Speaker 4 (04:32):
You talked to back one.

Speaker 5 (04:34):
You talked to back one to the Pittsburgh Steelers stadium,
and I know people that one got sucker punched in
the face of being a Ravens fan, had their hat
stolen being a Ravens fan. They actually threw ice balls
at a pregnant woman.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
Yeah, no, I saw unthinkable things. And you know, I'm
sure it happens everywhere. And you know, I just think
that fans need to be fans and leave each other alone.
I am not for fighting and all that, but there's
just it's just a huge and it's not just Baltimore Pittsburgh,
although I think we're probably the most.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
I think we're one of the best rivalries, you know
what I mean.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
Or at the same time, I agree, But you know,
you go into Philadelphia and that's not pretty either. Sometimes
maybe it's the whole state of Pennsylvania. All right, noney,
you have a good day, you too, All right? There
she is checking in Candice. We're getting a lot of
text about this, as you can see.

Speaker 4 (05:30):
Yeah, we are. I like this point.

Speaker 3 (05:32):
A Texter said, I think it's very petty for him
to do that to the Ravens fans and he was
hosting if he should have been a better host and
put the Steelers fans in the back and everybody in
the front.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
All right, let me just I want to let me
bring us up to speed really quick in case you
don't know what we're talking about, because we didn't reset
the stage. Are Rooney the second the owner of the Steelers.
He found out that there were Ravens fans sitting in
front of the Steelers fans and the way the section
layout was going to be for the draft this week,
and he talked to the NFL and had.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
Them move the Ravens fans from in front.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
Of the Steelers. So he wants Steelers in front. So
I just think the whole thing is so ridiculously juvenile.
But you know the draft, to be honest, if you've
watched it, I mean it's it is a fan fest.
People come and make up and full garb, and you
get fired up, and it could be dangerous to have
Ravens and Steelers fans too close together.

Speaker 4 (06:32):
Well, that's true.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
We had another Texter with a good point and says, hey,
well I'm an Eagles fan, but I think it's just
so much more of a classier night than what the
owner seems to be making it out to be. I
think the night should be about the celebrating these awesome
players that are getting drafted and living out their dream
then switching seeds because of a rival. And it's really
sad that the owner cannot realize that and overcome it.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
I think that's a good point.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
M I think it's.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
Very petty for our Rooney the second to do that.
This texter says, uh to Ravens fans and another person
who doesn't like her.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
A lot of texts are coming in.

Speaker 1 (07:08):
He was hosting it, and he should have been a
better host and put the Steelers fans in.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
The back where they block. Put him in the back baby.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
Uh So anyway, that's you know, really they've got to
look at this and say, Ravens and Steelers should be
like at.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
The same.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
From the same distance from the stage, maybe, but in
different sections. We've got to be separated, like two kids
that you got to pull apart, you know what I mean.

Speaker 4 (07:37):
You got your kids in their pets, they're crazy.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
Well, if you've got your.

Speaker 1 (07:40):
Kids in the back seat, Candice when they're little, you've
got girls, So maybe they don't do this, but two
boys in the back seat. You know there's a little
bit of that going on. You know, you turn around
and you give them something to cry for. That's what that's.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
Don't make me give you something to cry for. You
are pop culture protein based. It's the brief. On ninety
three point one WPOC.

Speaker 3 (08:04):
A Baltimore County man has been charged with the murder
of his wife, who went missing twenty three years ago.

Speaker 4 (08:10):
Dwight d J.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
Rust was arrested in connection with the two thousand and
two disappearance of Michelle Rust, who was last seen driving
a green Dodge Van. Police reopened the case in twenty
twenty three and concluded that Michelle's disappearance was a result
of doll play. Dwight Rust, Junior was arrested yesterday and
remain held at the Baltimore County Detention Center without fail.

(08:31):
TikTok and Parent Teacher Associations in Baltimore County hosted a
conversation to help school communities establish healthier social media boundaries.
The event aim to provide resources for making informed decisions
about social media uses. TikTok creator Erica Tate shared tips
on managing children's app usage emphasizing the importance of keyword

(08:52):
filters and time limits. The conversation comes amid ongoing concerns
about the addictive and harmful nature of social media, with
some Maryland school districts involved in lawsuits.

Speaker 4 (09:02):
Against tech companies.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
Devin Brew, a rapidly expanding coffee chain, is said to
open its first location in in Toronto County at the
corner of Marley Station Road and Richie Highway and Glen
Bernie this fall.

Speaker 4 (09:16):
This will be Maryland's third seven Brew.

Speaker 3 (09:18):
Location, with existing sites in Abingdon and Cambridge. The exact
opening date of the drive through in glen Burnie is
not yet known.

Speaker 1 (09:26):
That is Jabre Candice now celebrating her third week being
a part of the morning show here.

Speaker 4 (09:32):
Three weeks and is flown by have you.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
Learned anything that you want to reflect on before we
jump on the music City minute? Is there anything what
has been the most surprising thing that you've experienced?

Speaker 2 (09:43):
Maybe that's a good way to put it. Is there anything?

Speaker 4 (09:46):
I think? Just hearing back from the listeners, that's my
favorite part.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
Well, you can text anytime you like seven seven, nine
sixty if you have any comments, anything you want to ask,
or you want to know.

Speaker 3 (09:57):
Uncle Jay's music City minute in sixt and so you
don't know like you own music road.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
I know a lot of us want to know what's
going on with country music. So here's what's happening with
Jason Aldean. He's got a new album coming out this
Friday called Songs About Us, and ahead of the release
of that album, he's been sharing what his kids think
about their mom and dad's new duet. There's a song
called Easier Gone. They sing together, and Jason says, ken

(10:28):
is he ready for this? His kid's reaction quote, great,
mom and dad are singing again. Can we please have
a peanut butter and jelly sandwich?

Speaker 2 (10:39):
That's what they have to say. They couldn't care less.

Speaker 4 (10:41):
You would totally expect that from though.

Speaker 1 (10:44):
Luke Combs puts some good out into the world recently
thanks to his Packs for a Purpose.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
Here's what he's doing.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
Luke Combs is opening up packs of trading cards and
then auctioning them off, all on live stream. So far,
he has donated one hundred and fifty thousand dollars to
a nonprofit called A Rosy Place for Children in Indiana.
It's a state that's licensed, it's Especially Hospital, and thanks

(11:15):
to the charity of Luke Comb's that money has helped
more than two hundred sleepovers for children and families. So
he's helping out at Especially hospital.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
That's pretty sweet. Luke Comb's good guy.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
You know, he's got a bunch of kids himself, so
he understands parents going through a tough time. And finally,
Megan Moroney recreates Dolly Parton's iconic Joe Lean album cover.
This is on People's World's Most Beautiful issue, So I
think that's a good choice to put Megan Maroney on
the cover, although you know there's a couple other women

(11:49):
they could have thought about.

Speaker 2 (11:50):
I'm just so you know, I mean, come on to
the Candice.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
You could have been on the cover of People's World's
Most Peopleful Year. Right. Thank you for giving us a ride.
We love being in the car with you. We love
being with you on your way to work. We're gonna
have some sunshine, a very nice day today, same thing tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (12:08):
And then, why didn't you know it?

Speaker 1 (12:10):
If you're going to be making plans for Saturday, it
looks like it is going to be a washout canvas
so tailgators for the Hunt Cup. Sorry, about that. It
is going to be wet, so have your hunter boots ready?

Speaker 3 (12:25):
Well, look, my daughter has them ready for hunt Cup.
We were thinking about, Oh, we could potentially take the
boat over to Kent Narrows. Looks like that won't be happening.
Now we're driving, but taking alternate plans.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
Friday and Saturday look great at this point, but today
and tomorrow are beautiful. So imagine you going to work
and your boss says, can we talk for a minute,
and you're not sure if that's good or bad news,
And the boss calls you in and says, we are
so proud of what you've done. We are so happy
with what you've been delivering to the company.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
We're so excited to have you here.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
We want to give you a bump because we think
you've been underpaid when you love to hear those.

Speaker 4 (13:05):
Words, I would love to But how often does that happen?

Speaker 1 (13:10):
Well, it does happen, and I just want to give
you something to fantasize about. Here this morning, on your
way to work, the boss calling you in and saying,
we want to say thank you for the job you're doing.
So we're going to give you a ten thousand dollars
bump right now starting today. Awesome, you get a ten
thousand dollar raise. My question is when you hear that,

(13:31):
of course you're like, wow, that's awesome, thank you.

Speaker 2 (13:34):
What do you do with the money, Candice? Ten thousand dollars? Man?

Speaker 1 (13:38):
Now, do you right away think I'm going to go
buy that whatever? Or do you start thinking, all right,
ten thousand, I got to pay taxes on it. So
maybe that only bumps my paycheck by five thousand, which
would be about I don't know what that is divided
by however many.

Speaker 2 (13:53):
Paychecks you get.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
You know, it's a couple hundred bucks if you want,
it's whatever it is net and you know, and then
you start to think, I'll put it in retirement, I'll
save it, I'll pay bills, I'll do the responsible thing.

Speaker 2 (14:05):
Or are you thinking ten thousand bucks, I'm gonna go
this is gonna be a fun weekend. What would you do?

Speaker 4 (14:14):
I think I would pay tuition with it?

Speaker 3 (14:18):
You know, those numbers kind of loom and you're like, right,
gotta pay.

Speaker 4 (14:23):
And you know you have all different payment plans.

Speaker 3 (14:25):
It can meet twice a year, it can be every month,
and so be nice to just get like a lump
sum paid for.

Speaker 4 (14:33):
What about you?

Speaker 2 (14:34):
I'm doing the math right now.

Speaker 1 (14:36):
I'm saying, if you get twenty four paychecks a year,
that's about an extra two hundred dollars a paycheck. With
two hundred extra a paycheck, I think I would probably,
I mean my because I have some credit card debt.
I think the first thing I would do is just
put it towards visa, you know what I mean, put
a little extra and knock it down quicker. That's probably

(14:57):
what I would do with smart thing to do, right,
But maybe you're dreaming of doing something fun, fantastic. I
think that's kind of the same exercise you should go
through with our big pile of cash, because you know,
lucky for us, we've got just today alone, Candice, twelve
thousand dollars in cash given away today starting at nine

(15:20):
to twenty. So yeah, we give it twelve grand today,
twelve grand tomorrow. That would be sixty thousand this week alone.
We were just envisioning if you were to show up
at work today and your boss said, hey, we want
to give you a ten thousand dollars raise, what would
you do with the money?

Speaker 2 (15:36):
Right?

Speaker 1 (15:36):
I mean, that probably won't happen for anybody but nothing
wrong with dreaming. Right, If you did get a bump
like that today, what would you do with it? First,
Texter said, yes, that would get us a new washer
and dryer because we need one.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
That would be nice.

Speaker 3 (15:54):
I will probably They said that, they probably take a
rest and put towards bills or maybe possibly a little
any vacation.

Speaker 2 (16:01):
Right, it sounds good, it does help.

Speaker 3 (16:02):
Another texture said, hey, I would schedule a cruise for
my family.

Speaker 4 (16:06):
That sounds fun. Hmmm, where.

Speaker 3 (16:11):
I'm trying to think, cruises aren't exactly cheap, right, So
where would the ten thousand dollars crews get you?

Speaker 4 (16:18):
How many days we thinking we gone to paradise?

Speaker 2 (16:22):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (16:22):
And again, you know, ten grand quickly becomes just two
hundred dollars more of paycheck. So you got to keep
it all. And that's the problem I think we all have.
We see the overall number and then we spend it
like we have it, and it turns out we don't
really have it because you got to you know, it
ends up being less and then you got bills and
it's just like being an adult, right you know.

Speaker 3 (16:43):
So if the boss doesn't say this to you today,
just listen to us here on ninety three point one WDOC.

Speaker 4 (16:48):
We're at least giving away some cash for you.

Speaker 2 (16:50):
We're gonna do that this morning at nine to twenty
