Speaker 1 (00:00):
Some mornings, it's tough to remember to take everything with
you out the door, your lunch, your security badge, whatever
you need to get in at work. The other mornings,
everything just seems to click. You know what the difference
is those slow mornings. You probably missed ninety three point
one WPOC The Michael j Morning Show. Hope you can

(00:20):
join us every morning, but if you do happen to
miss anything, maybe you can catch it here on our podcast.
Thanks for checking in, follow, like, share, and keep listening
your pop culture protein boots. Yeah, it's the brief on
ninety three point one WPOC.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
It's officially Maryland's annual tax free week, allowing residents.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
To save on back to school shopping.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
Qualifying clothing and footwear price at one hundred dollars or
less per item are exempt from the state sales tax,
along with the first forty dollars of a backpack. Online
purchases from Maryland retailers are also qualified the exemption. Sakes
lizards and turtles all without a home after a fire
in Boltemore County last night. Happened around seven thirty at

(01:07):
the Holt Park Reptile House and the one hundred block
of McCormick Avenue in Fullerton. Animal Control was called to
the scene and the investigation continues. The twenty twenty six
White Marlin Open ended Saturday evening and the winners walking
away with big earnings. The tournament's most lucrative catch was
an eighty pound white marlin, projected to be worth about

(01:28):
three point five million dollars, caught by Bill Sharp on
the boat.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
Mister Pete, that is a brief.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
All right, Well, let's find out what's going on in
Music City.

Speaker 4 (01:37):
Michael Jay's Music City Minute in sixty seconds.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
You gon't know like you own music Road. We've been
telling you about Luke Bryan. Let's get to some other
stars here this morning. Tyler Hubbard has been chosen for
The Chosen as we wait for the return of Florida
Georgia Line, which I told you They're planning some shows
and some new country coming up in twenty twenty seven.

(02:00):
Tyler will be featured in the forthcoming compilation album Songs
Inspired by The Chosen. It's a soundtrack accompanying the release
of the new season of the hit series Do This Fall.
We got Jean's news Now Ella rocks for American Eagle, Right,
I understand Laney Wilson was up until twenty twenty four

(02:23):
repping for Wrangler. I don't know what's going on with
her these days, but I do know. Wrangler has just
announced that they have formed a relationship with another country
star talker Wetmore, for Wrangler, promoting what's being called the
new Off Tour collection. So you'll have to look into those.
And in case you missed it, it is onto Chicago

(02:47):
for Garth Brooks. You know he was in Denver.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
He's come on to Baltimore, Pe.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
He's coming, I would bet. But he is a genius
marketer because most stars, in fact, everyone else I've ever seen,
puts out their whole tour or at least big chunks
of it at once.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
Not Garth. He has me going refreshed, refreshed, right.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
He is so smart. So he's like, we'll get to
the next town and somebody's waiting to find out. Tickets
went on sale in Chicago going into the weekend and
Garth already added three more shows. He knows how to
sell out concerts like nobody's business. That is your music
city minute. Because we had this party yesterday for my daughter,

(03:27):
who's engaged now is a engagement engagement party, and my
buddy Mike comes over, and Mike's my age. You know,
we're real tight. He's got his pop stations and he goes,
guess what. I go, what, I haven't seen him for
a while. He goes, I'm an elfella.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
Man, and You're like, I'm a bigger l I'm an.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
Lfella too, So welcome to the family.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
Yes, well, we are celebrating this week.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
Michael J. If you have not heard, Michael J. Was
inducted into the Country Music Radio Hall.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
Of the Country. This is important because there's the Country
Music Hall of Fame the country, and then there's the
Country Radio Hall of Fame. The difference is the Country
Music Hall of Fame you can actually go to in Nashville.
The Country Radio Hall of Fame is in your radio. Right.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
Well, he is back from Music.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
City, and you know he was hobnobbing with everybody, it seems, oh.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
Forgore, I don't know if i'd call it hob nobbin.
What I mostly was doing was just like introducing people
that I've been friends with for like thirty years to
my family, right, because my family's never met anybody.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
Okay, well they all did.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
We've been sending our congratulations online on air. People have
been texting, but you know, our friends for Nashville wanted
to send their well wishes. So I thought it'd be
a good idea. Eight thirty every day this week, we're
going to do just that.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
What do you have up your sleeve?

Speaker 2 (04:52):
This is all truly a surprise for Michael without further ado.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
Okay, so there are a couple of like clips. You
want me to play?

Speaker 3 (05:01):
Yep?

Speaker 1 (05:01):
I have no idea with you.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
I think you should hit the first one.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
Go now, yep, all right, let's go, Michael J.

Speaker 5 (05:08):
Congrats on the twenty twenty six Country Radio Hall of
Fame induction. Congrats on everything you've earned. It worked your
butt off, Thank you for playing my music. Congrats big dog.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
All right, buddy, that's.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
Lip he was saying, big dog.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
Now, I was, you know, reminiscing about the time where
you try to dance with Luke Bryan.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
I think I did more than try. I mean he
I wasn't really trying to dance. I was trying to
do the hip moment movement that he does. He you know,
he gets the whole. Let me let me see see
if this works or you can't look like it's a
little bit. It's a little look, doesn't much a.

Speaker 2 (05:45):
Middle of that, like you again, I said that he
tried to teach.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
Okay, I remember him saying, I had these I had
these green like pants on. They were like khakis, but
they were green. He said, come on over here, mister
green Jane. So yeah, that was kind of good.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Oh my, all right, well that's from Luke, and I thought,
I thought maybe we should play one more today.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
Well, just one more thing about Luke. He is he
is a great guy. I'm hoping that his health is
good enough that he can play August twentieth.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
Days, the countdown is on. He's coming to nuts apparently.

Speaker 1 (06:19):
Apparently he has some sort of asthma and my wife
has that and you have to use an inhaler and
sometimes that when it you're like, it locks up, it
can be very scary. So I understand that. And this
smoke doesn't help, right, So that's why he was dealings crossed.
So you'll get to dance with him once again. All right,
it's great. So there's another one to do.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
There's one more today, so go ahead and hit the
play button.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
All right, here we go. Michael Jay Wassaw brothers.

Speaker 4 (06:49):
Brandley Gilbert here, just want to say congratulations on your
Hall of Fame induction. No one more deserving man. Thank
you for everything you've done for me over the years.
Spending my song was showing me love, love you, buddy,
Proud to know you. Congratulations.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
So, Brandley Gilbert is an awesome guy. You guys rode together, right, Yeah.
He taught me about California sober. Do you know about that?

Speaker 3 (07:14):
Well you've okay, explain please, Okay.

Speaker 1 (07:17):
So he's California sober, which means he doesn't drink. So okay,
that's one thing I know about Branley. He's got awesome tats. Awesome,
and I want to introduce a tat guy that I
just met, just learned about in Dover that I want
to introduce Brantley too because it's I think I've just
found the best tattoo artist ever.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
Oh so all right, So there's that, And then talk
about riding motorcycles in DC.

Speaker 1 (07:44):
Yeah, we rode into Arlington National Cemetery and he got
to lay the wreath on the tomb of the Unknown,
Oh my goodness. And he was excited to be able
to do that. And I stood next to him as
he did it, and I was in awe at the
precision and the formality that our military, you know, walks

(08:10):
back and forth. And I stood next to a century
who was getting dressed and to see, you know, this
guy who comes in in like a T shirt and
a pair of jockey shorts, and like they physically dress
him and they put his pants on him, they put
everything on him. There's a team of people and they

(08:30):
go over his uniform and they measure it. They measure
like the exact you know, measurements between the buttons and
the collar, and they go over it with lint brushes,
and I mean when you're walking that it's I get
goosebumps even now talking about it, because it was so
there was so much concern because they're out there walking

(08:54):
in rain, snow temperatures they you know, hurricanes don't matter,
because it's the two of the unknown. And what it
represents is that we have fallen who have not come
home yet, and our military leaves no man behind. And
oh my gosh, it's.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
What a memory.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
It's so powerful. Yeah, it is so powerful. If you
ever get a chance to go to Arlington National Cemetery
and watch what happens and you watch someone will start
talking and they'll stop and they'll be like quiet, you know,
I mean, like they just demands. It is a very
powerful experience.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
Well, I will say that one of the first interviews
that we ever did together was with Brandley Gilbert, and
he was going on and on about you know, riding
with you in DC, and it really made me realize
that in this country radio family, you know, you do
have those core memories and you do become a bit

(09:52):
of family. And certainly I think that a lot of
the artists that you'll hear throughout the week will mimic that.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
So and Brantley Gilbert, if he's able to hear about
this or whatever through the iHeartRadio app Thank you, and
thank you to Luke Bryan. Both you guys are awesome.
Appreciate you and I'll never forget ninety three point one WPOC,
Michael jan and Candice in the Morning, eight forty seven Sunshine.
I have ninety five to ninety six today. Tim McGraw

(10:22):
in town this Sunday.

Speaker 2 (10:25):
Yes, but before we get there, we're celebrating half week.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
I think we should call it half week. This is
all week, Yes, it's not just today.

Speaker 2 (10:33):
I was inducted into the country, all right, and we
are celebrating, so we just played congratulations from your good
buddy is Luke Bryan and of course Brantley Gilbert.

Speaker 3 (10:43):
Right, there are more artists.

Speaker 1 (10:44):
There's more, yes, and we're.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
Posting them on social media, So head on over to
all of our social media accounts ninety three point one, WPOC,

Speaker 3 (10:56):
There's oh and by the way, we have more tomorrow
eight thirty.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
You didn't run out of stars yet. No, there's Morgan
Wallen second week. He hit number one two weeks in
a row, but now has slipped out of number one
and he's replaced by himself because he's he's got the
duet with Ella. So just to keep up with this,
you need a scorecard, don't we From Morgan Wallen's now

(11:22):
the number two song and I Can't Love You Anymore
is number one with Ella. But then Ella goes ahead
and puts out a new song with co Wetzel, and
so who knows it's probably gonna you know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (11:35):
No, but I was cruising around the islands and there's
Morgan Wallen I'm like he's following me.

Speaker 1 (11:41):
I am dying to hear this, So let's break the
rules and put it right on Ella Langley. We World
premiered this last Friday. Find out what we think about
Ella dumping Morgan and going with co
