A day after it was announced. Just yesterday, we learned
Martina McBride would be one of the headliners for the
Great American State Fair on the National Mall to celebrate
America's two hundred and fiftieth birthday. Martina has joined a

In a statement, Martina McBride says she asked many questions
and was assured it would not be political. However, she
feels misled. She says, I'm not going to be involved

song that I wrote that with the Warm Brothers A

on that because it's such a great song. But yeah,
this song just to me. When I first heard it,

love the way it feels, I love what it says.
I love the togetherness of it and the poignancy of it.

And you do have a tour coming up. You're coming

Yeah, the Pawn Shop Guitar Tour. It's the name of
the tour is coming to the name of the album. It's
also a song that were dropping that I co wrote
with Tom Douglas, and it really it's the most automat
biographical song that I've ever written and recorded. It literally
tells sort of the story of my journey to Nashville
and how it all started, and I'm excited for.
Speaker 2 (11:22):

Yeah, I did. I actually my freshman year in college,
I pawned my high school ring for twenty bucks and
they happened to have an acoustic guitar there for twenty bucks.
I got the guitar and learned forty or fifty songs
over the summer and started playing at a catfish house
by myself for tips, and I was hooked. From that
point forward, all I wanted to do.

Looking back on it all, it's one thing that fifty

You know, I was telling you you are my favorite
all time country artists, and I think about it. I mean,
growing up, I listened to you in college, now on adulthood.
So many generations that you've touched, But what's the greatest
gift that those generations have all given to you?
Speaker 4 (12:42):
Oh my gosh. I think when you go to a
concert and you see people bringing their kids to see
my show that were kids when they were seeing my show,
is a big deal of it. Like you can see
people whose parents brought them to my show and now
you see those guys who are bringing.
Speaker 2 (12:56):
Their kids to the show.
Speaker 4 (12:57):
That's always incredible. And also to look out, well, every
time we do Live Like You Were Dying, and to
look out and to see people hugging and crying, and
families huddle together, hugging and crying and knowing that song
meant something to them that they went through in their
life gives me goosebuss every time, and sometimes it's even
hard to get through this song. When we see that,
you realize how special. I don't feel like that's my song.

I feel like I'm just lucky enough to be able
to be up fish singing it.

Tim, that song gives me goose bums just hearing you
