in Anarundel County. The National Weather Service confirmed that an
EF one tornado touchdown in the Lake Shore community of
Pasadena with wins of one hundred miles per hour. Another
tornado can firmed in Cape Saint Clair, Maryland. Homeowners are
being warned about contractors offering free roof inspections following those
(01:06):
severe storms. The agency says some contractors may engage in insurance,
broad vandalism claims and delays, and legitimate repairs.
Speaker 4 (01:15):
Before accepting a free roof inspection.
Speaker 5 (01:17):
The agency says you should understand what your insurance policy covers,
and if you're heading out to the bay this weekend,
listen up. Flush eating bacteria cases are on the rise
in the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries. Authority say seventy
two people have been treated for a fast spreading tissue infection.
The bacteria is called vibrio and it thrives in warm
water sixty degrees and up, so it's peak time right now.
(01:40):
It can get in through you just like a small
cut on your skin, but also by eating improperly cooked
shellfish or raw oysters, So be careful.
Speaker 3 (01:48):
Guys.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
Hey at seven thirty this morning, if you know anything
about oysters, you can check in with us.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
Hey, Michael Jay's music City minute in sixty seconds. If
you don't know, like you own music row.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
Yeah, lots of excitement around American Idol this morning. Luke
Bryan and Carrie Underwood our returning, were being told because
there was I guess some people wondering, well are they
coming back? And they had not announced it, But Luke
and carry returning to American Idol for season twenty five.
(02:37):
Oh wait a second, Now I'm just getting another update.
They're saying, not so fast. They have not confirmed it.
Oh well, I got one source saying that they are,
one saying they're not. You think they're just trying to
get people to watch exactly. Yeah, but Luke Bryan and
Lionel had been on the show for the longest time,
(02:58):
potentially leading to a decision on their continuation. And they say,
if if Luke sticks around for one more season, he'll
have been there longer than the what was that guy's name?
Uh like to withdraw Simon Simon Cowell. Yeah, longer than Simon.
So anyway, Now, Keith Urban is in the news. Not
(03:20):
overly concerned. He says about Nicole Kidman's new relationship. In fact,
now that Nicole is supposedly dating an equity investor, Michael Reinstein,
they've been spotted in Italy together. Keith says he's actually
happy because he's been cautious not to get in the way.
(03:41):
And he says he doesn't know what to say. Okay,
and he says, once it's out that she's got a
new relationship and they can move on, then he's like,
you know.
Speaker 4 (03:50):
He doesn't have to keep it secret anymore, right.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
And he says, best of luck to uh to Nicole.
So you know, hopefully sounds like they're working it out.
When you have kids involved, you certainly have to be
mindful of all of that. We've got an expert here
will for mother Shuckers on the line.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
Heye, say hello to Carrey.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
She's here for Candace today.
Speaker 4 (04:09):
Well, thanks so much for your help on this.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
Absolutely, Carrie, you are the oyster man, and your wife Amy,
you're the oyster King and Queen of Maryland. Because everywhere
I go, you know, mother Shuckers, you always have the
best oysters. So when Carrie came in and had this
story this morning, I thought we got to ask you
about it. So Carrie, what do you know it's a
(04:33):
flesh eating bacteria.
Speaker 5 (04:34):
Yeah, it's called vibrio and they say that it thrives
in warm water, but it also feats on crabs and
raw oysters. I'm assuming you can avoid it if you
properly cook shellfish, but what about raw oysters?
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Yeah, so will You've got to know something about this.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
Yeah, So, Sebrio is not new. It's been around for
hundreds of years. It's not very common, and it is
found in warm water oysters, such as near the Gulf
coast east of Florida. But as you move north, as
the waters get colder, your oyster's safe. Okay, And as
long as the oysters kept cold and kept at the
right temperatures. And whoever's shuck in them for you, they're certified.
(05:13):
They can tell a good oorster from a bad oars.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
So, well, let me ask you this. This brings up
all the questions. Carrie is telling me. This Vibrio kind
of spreads in water of sixty degrees or warmer, and
the problem is showing up in the bay. Seventy three
cases of it so far from the Chesapeake Bay. So
let me ask you, because when I was a kid
growing up in Baltimore. I always heard that you only
(05:38):
eat oysters in our months. So you got September, October, November, December, January, February, March, April,
and then time you hit May, June, July, August, you
don't have an R in the month. And I was
always told that's when you don't eat oysters. But has
that changed? Does that have something to do with it?
Speaker 3 (05:56):
It does because of the warm waters, the bibrio is
more commonly found. However, that thing of only the oysters
in the R months is because back in the day
before they have refrigerated truck, they couldn't keep the oysters
at the proper temperature when your watermen would bring them
over to the western shore. The orchers are going bad.
They dry out, they get bad, and then that's where
(06:20):
you will get your sickness. Now we keep them cold.
And the main thing about oysters in the months without
R is now we farm raise them. Now you what,
they're farm raised? Okay, So if you're getting a farm
raised oorster in those months, or if you're getting any
oyster pushed north of even off Panada Prince Edward Island,
you're more than safe.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
Well, if anybody knows oysters. It's Will and Amy with
mother shuckers. I mean, there's an addiction that I have
for your oysters. I have to confess.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
Look, thank you, Michael, thank you very much.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
All Right, Well, keep shocking those oysters because they are good. However,
this is what we've learned. So I looked up the
tamp current surface tamp of the bay eighty degrees.
Speaker 4 (07:03):
That is like a sauna.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
Yeah, that is so that particularly can cause some problems,
I guess.
Speaker 2 (07:10):
But as Will was saying, he.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
Gets oysters from you know, a cold waters, I guess
north of here. You know, the temperatures obviously drop as
you go north. I know the ocean's not eighty degrees.
It's probably pushing seventy though close to the beach. And
I'm sure as you get out into different waters obviously
a lot of different tents.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
So that's part of the situation.
Speaker 5 (07:32):
Yeah, keep those oysters on ice. That can help destroy
the bacteria. Not totally, but it definitely will.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
Well, you know, it's like with restaurants, because you've got
the safe zone for foods.
Speaker 2 (07:42):
It either needs to be refrigerated.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
Cold or cooked hot, right anything in between the danger zone.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
So we're learning a lot this morning about it here.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
But if you're going to be swimming in the bay,
you want to be careful as well with this flesh
eating bacteria in the news.
Speaker 2 (07:57):
All cut, all right, be careful carry filling in today.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
And Carrie is an official member of our family now,
so whenever Candace isn't here, either Malory sepaste from Channel
two or or you're gonna be here as well, Carrie,
So we love having you. So we were talking about
the Orioles yesterday because two games ago we lost fourteen
(08:21):
to nothing, and then yesterday we were just talking about this. Yesterday,
Candace and I we were asking are we buyers or
sellers with the trade deadline coming up, and everybody here
said sell, sell, sell.
Speaker 4 (08:33):
And I said bye.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
Well, I said you gotta be careful because you never
know what was going to happen. In Game three against
the Tigers if you didn't hear about it, it was amazing.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
We played sloppy again.
Speaker 1 (08:47):
We had like three errors and we were losing seven
to nothing up until the seventh inning, and then the
Orioles came alive and they ended up winning in twelve
innings ten tone.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
So we ended up winning.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
The series against the Tigers two games to one. So
long story short, we're still in this mess where we're
a few games below five hundred. You know, can the
Orioles make a run for the playoffs? Who knows, But
they've got to make a decision again whether by to sell.
And you say, I think by okay, you think we
should hang in and keep fighting?
Speaker 4 (09:22):
I think so. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (09:23):
That's the Baltimore spirit, it really is. I don't know
who knows. We've had a tough time in the last
several years. All I know is chat GBT predicts the
Orioles are going to win the World Series within the
next couple of.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
Years, okay, And I like to think positive. It sounds
like maybe old chat.
Speaker 4 (09:39):
GPT's put that out there in the universe.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
Yes you are, pop Culture Protein Boost.
Speaker 3 (09:44):
It's the brief on ninety three point ONEPOC.
Speaker 4 (09:50):
All right.
Speaker 5 (09:50):
We've got a lot of people dealing with storm damage
and power outages. After four tornadoes touchdown in Maryland Tuesday,
two of them in ann Arundel County. The National Weather
Service can an EF one tornado touchdown in the Lake
Shore community of Pasadena with winds of one hundred miles
per hour. Another tornado confirmed in Cape Saint Clair and
now Maryland homeowners are being warned about contractors offering free
(10:13):
roof inspections following those storms.
Speaker 4 (10:16):
You know, they come knock on your door.
Speaker 5 (10:18):
So apparently the agency says some contractors may engage in
insurance broad vandalism claims and delays and legitimate repairs.
Speaker 4 (10:26):
So before you let them go do this free roof inspection.
Speaker 5 (10:28):
Make sure you actually know what your insurance policy covers.
You can always go online and file acclaim with the
Maryland Homeowners Agency. And if you're heading out to the
Bay this weekend, guys, there is a flesh eating bacteria
on the rise in the Bay and its tributaries. Authorities
say seventy two people have been treated for this disease.
(10:49):
It's a fast spreading tissue infection called vibrio. It thrives
in warmer water sixty degrees and up. And as we
talked about earlier, the bay is at like eighty degrees
right now, so this is really a peak time for it.
The bacteria can get in through just a small cut.
It can cause sepsis and even lead to amputation.
Speaker 2 (11:07):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 5 (11:07):
But you can also get it by eating improperly cooked
shellfish and raw oysters.
Speaker 1 (11:11):
You know, one thing I was wondering about because the
Chesapeake Bay is brackish, there's fresh water coming in from
the top of it, and then it mixes with the
ocean water coming in from the south of it. I
wonder if there's less of this bacteria in the ocean
with all the salt.
Speaker 4 (11:26):
So seems like it. Colder water is better.
Speaker 5 (11:29):
Yes, what I'm taking away from this, keep your oysters
cold if you're gonna eat them.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
Michael Jay's music sitting minute in sixty seconds.
Speaker 1 (11:36):
If you don't know like you own music, row all right,
We're just telling you. Megan Moroni, who just saang wasn't
feeling well how to cancel the show and apparently was
emotionally distraught.
Speaker 2 (11:48):
She says.
Speaker 1 (11:48):
She posted on Instagram that she was sitting in her
dressing room crying her eyes out, but hopefully she's feeling better.
Martina McBride is celebrating her sixtieth birthday. She says she
grew up on a dairy farm in Kansas and loved
country music from the earliest point in her life she
can remember. Her music career started when she performed with
(12:10):
her dad. She moved to Nashville to pursue the country
music and released her debut album in nineteen ninety two.
Now she's turned into big.
Speaker 4 (12:19):
Sts nineties country six.
Speaker 1 (12:21):
Yeah, I love Martina McBride. Hey Sadly, Jelly Roll and
Bunny XO got divorced and now they have unfollowed each
other on all the socials, so they're definitely uncoupling.
Speaker 2 (12:34):
And the other news you want to keep in mind.
Speaker 1 (12:37):
Tonight at eight pm on ABC two, it's Celebrity Family
Feud and Zach Brown with his wife Kendra Scott. Hey, carry,
are you a Kendra Scott fan?
Speaker 4 (12:51):
I am, but I'm also a Family Feud fan.
Speaker 3 (12:53):
Oh.
Speaker 4 (12:54):
I think I would crush on family Feud. I really do.
Speaker 1 (12:57):
Sometimes you see people with just totally blank out and
I'm like no, or they're like jumping all around it
and You're like, what are you You're You're missing the
most obvious thing. Anyway, Tonight at eight o'clock, don't miss Zach,
his wife and the Zach Brown Team for Camp uh
at Southern Ground is the name of the camp. He
(13:17):
takes inner city kids out into the country and gives
