Speaker 1 (00:00):

one WPOC The Michael j Morning Show. Hope you can

Speaker 2 (00:33):
My name's Corey Phone and for Michael Jlong with Candice Yeah.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
So an update. Michael is on his way to Nashville.
We don't really know all of what's happening down in Nashville,
but we know that we're holding down the fort here
at WPOC and we have a lot coming up in
the brief. In fact, Baltimore Orioles star Gunner Henderson has
been in international headlines as the United States headed to
the World Baseball Classic Championship. We'll have all the details
(00:58):
coming up in a brief. Corey Phone it for along
with Candice. Yes, and we have the brief coming up.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
And we also have the High Low Cash contest. No
winner yesterday for the.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
Jackpots, so right, so seven ten and nine ten, it's
your chance to guess.
Speaker 4 (01:13):
We just know it's a lot of money.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
Exact bottom line. If you've been falling along, you should
have a good idea as to what it could be.
So seventen this morning, your chance to win, hopefully a
lot of money. Your pop culture protein based it's the
brief on ninety three point one WPOC.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
The Utility Relief Act passed the State House of Representatives
and is now on its way to the Senate. The
proposal would save Marylanders at least one hundred and fifty
dollars a year per family, or twelve to fifty a
month on their utility bills by pulling money from the
Strategic Energy Investment Fund. According to BGE, the average electric
heating customer used ten percent more electricity this February compared
(01:54):
to last year. And EF one tornado did touchdown on
Maryland's eastern shore Monday, as much to the state experience
that severe weather. The agency's Storm Damage Survey eighteen that's
a National Weather Service determined that the tornado touchdown in Ridgely, Maryland,
which is in Caroline County, with maximum wins of one
(02:14):
hundred miles per hour. The United States falls to Venezuela
in the World Baseball Classic. Venezuela clinched it's first title
after the three two victory. Of course, our Baltimore Orioles
star Gunner Henderson was part of the effort, but we
did fall short. Also, unbc's March Madness run ends with
an eighty six to eighty three loss to Howard in
(02:35):
the first four. It was unbc's first appearance in the
NCAA tournament since twenty eighteen.
Speaker 4 (02:41):
That is your brief.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
We are taking your ideas as to why Michael's not
with us this morning and in Nashville instead.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
So we've had a lot of speculation. This is kind
of fun. Hey, it's Woody. I think you should put
on the cake. Welcome to WPOC morning show, Candice Tole
because the girl got yeah when the girl got yet,
So I don't know. But here's the thing. This is
all about Michael. This is not about me. But then
Diesel called in and he had his thoughts. He's one
(03:12):
of our twelve listeners.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
Eight hundred three two thirty six ninety three Diesel.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
What do you think speculation?
Speaker 2 (03:18):
It's like Michael's been throwing.
Speaker 4 (03:19):
Little clues out there, okay, And.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
That's why I said for the cake, just put the
word yes.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
On it, because yes, you guys are going.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
To be excited because it's going to be one of
the top four morning radio shoes.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
And then all the stars should be perfectly aligned.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
So he can give you the final ruse and of
course you want to say yes.
Speaker 3 (03:40):
All right, Diesel, very good speculation. I love the idea
of the cake. We should just have like a bunch
of different cakes tomorrow with different sayings.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
Because then the thing is is do you go ice
cream cake? Or do you go like vanilla because like
I like ice cream personally, do you go cookie cake?
Speaker 3 (03:55):
I mean, look at six fifteen in the morning, we're like,
this is almost working on lunchtime for us. So we
can have any type of cake, a buffet of cakes
for Michael jays Aah, he deserves it. Yeah, so he is.
He's heading off to the airport right now, and he
is heading down to Nashville. He has a big surprise
for us and it will be announced tomorrow morning. So
(04:16):
stick with us and have some fun with us here
this morning on Wednesday, March eighteenth. So it's busy out
there out on the roadways, and we were just thinking
it's spring break time for some people.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
Yeah. You just were texting with a friend that's actually yeah,
are they going away on spring break?
Speaker 3 (04:32):
So my girlfriend is heading down to the airport and
she was saying, like, six p ninety five is seems
to be a bit busier than usual, and she goes,
I forgot that it was spring break, and I'm flying
out with a girlfriend today to go to Miami, and
so I'm imagining that the airport.
Speaker 4 (04:46):
Is going to be hustling.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
But it's a who leaves for spring break in the
middle of the week, right, because if you leave, it's
typically on the weekend.
Speaker 4 (04:53):
Yeah, that's true. I don't know.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
Maybe there's cheaper fairs today and so maybe it is
a good time to head off to spring break. I
was reports about, you know, with gas prices and how
that would affect spring break travel this year.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
With that said, though, because it did jump up, I
noticed twenty cents yesterday. But you've kind of made your
plans in advance of this, I would think, unless you're
a last minute plan or so, you're going on your vacation,
whether you knew the gas prices were h uh huh.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
And if you got your airplane ticket, chances are you
probably got it before all of this.
Speaker 4 (05:24):
So we want to hear from you.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
Let us know, are you maybe not even this week,
but do you have any spring break plans?
Speaker 4 (05:32):
Because we're sick of this cold weather? We need to like,
look at her, are you doing.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
Anything because don't you have a kid on spring breakrightw.
Speaker 3 (05:36):
So I do have one child on spring break, but
then my other daughter has spring break coming up around
Easter time, so you get to.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
Do a couple of vacations, right.
Speaker 4 (05:45):
No, I'm here in studio.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
No, there is no spring break plan, and all of
her friends are out in Florida, and I was like, sorry,
I don't know. I'll take you somewhere special.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
Interesting thing. I just saw this because I was always
told that booking your flight on a Tuesday or Wednesday
will get the cheapest flights. Have you ever heard that?
Speaker 4 (06:03):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (06:04):
I have. So Google came out with their trends like
a week ago. They said, actually the cheapest date of
book your flight to save the most money Friday. So
we just keep that in mind for your next trip
coming up. My name is Corning from Michael Jay along
with Candice and we got Ava in here now good morning, Yeah, money.
Speaker 4 (06:18):
Back one along with their crutches. But she's here.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
How much longer do you have to use the crutches?
Speaker 5 (06:24):
Who knows, We'll see maybe another month.
Speaker 2 (06:26):
So did you get that knee like a cart where
you put your knee on it and then you walk
with the knee cart.
Speaker 5 (06:32):
I didn't get that. No, No, that would be helpful. Yeah,
it would be helpful better. Yeah, yeah, I don't know.
They won't be moving as much as possible. So maybe
next time, if you need it, you can ask.
Speaker 4 (06:43):
My other knee.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
Maybe Michael Jay's music.
Speaker 6 (06:47):
Sitting minute in sixty seconds.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
You don't know, like you own music row. So there's
two hours both opening up a sports bar in Nashville,
and they both announced that at the same time, which
I find kind of interesting. It's like, why wouldn't you
do the team up to get But Cole Swindell and
Chris Young both going to open up a place. Okay,
at some point this year, Chris Young's place is gonna
be called Famous Friends, just like this.
Speaker 4 (07:08):
Yeah, that makes sense, it makes sense.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
Kit Moore just announced that he's coming out with a
new album or Reasonablieve thirteen total songs that's coming out
in May twenty ninth.
Speaker 4 (07:16):
Kit Moore was just here, Michael and I just introduced him.
Speaker 3 (07:19):
He was at CFG Bank Arena and he opened for
the Cody Johnson concert and everybody was saying he shouldn't
be an opener, he should be a headline.
Speaker 2 (07:27):
So he is so talented. I love it too. I
don't know if he did it at your show, but
when I've seen him in the past, he's like, put
down your cell phones, live in the moment, enjoy the present,
because too often when you're at a concert you see
people holding up their phones watching through your phone. It's like,
why not want to watch it clip on YouTube if
you need you later? Like right in all honestly, how
often do you go back after the fact and watch
(07:49):
videos on your phone?
Speaker 7 (07:50):
I never do that.
Speaker 4 (07:50):
No, I don't. I don't, but it feels like you
need to do it right.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
Yeah, I guess something he walked on.
Speaker 6 (07:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (07:57):
Louke Comb said yesterday in an interview on the Zachs
Saying show that he wants to play the Super Bowl
halftime show WHOA and I Am All four?
Speaker 4 (08:04):
I am too.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
It would be a great halftime show performance. Everybody knows
his music no matter what Johnrey are in. Yeah, it
makes sense to me. Oh j used to be all right,
fingers cross, yes, so fingers cross that you win a
lot of money. Don't forget the high low jackpot. We
are going to be doing that at seven ten. All
we know is there's a lot of money in it.
Speaker 4 (08:23):
Ahah and you could win.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
We were looking so Kenny Chesney has not performed at
a super Bowl halftime show, but we were just talking
about could Luke Combs perform at a halftime show?
Speaker 2 (08:34):
Because the last one I think was three was Shanaiah.
Speaker 3 (08:36):
Okay okay, and then of course the moment with Chris
Stapleton at super Bowl, right.
Speaker 4 (08:42):
And so but now we're talking about Luke Combs.
Speaker 3 (08:44):
So a lot of news happening with him, new music
coming out Friday, and then could he possibly be the
next time performing. So my girlfriend Audrey texted, she's a
loyal WPOC listener, and she was saying, yeah, Luke Combs
all the way for a super Bowl halftime show.
Speaker 4 (08:59):
I can't think of a person that would say no.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
Well, and everybody knows him, so it's like he crosses
the boundary of not just country music, but he plays
on pop radio.
Speaker 5 (09:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (09:09):
I mean, you know he's.
Speaker 3 (09:10):
Got maybe Tracy Chapman coming for Fast Little Cash image.
Speaker 4 (09:16):
Oh so good. It's one of my favorite songs.
Speaker 2 (09:18):
So if it happens, I think you have you and
Poc to thank for that, right. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (09:23):
Just give us some interesting and then if you can
get me front row seats, that'd be great too. We
have a lot of texts that have been coming in, so, hey,
Michael j went to Nashville because they're going to announce
who the co host is going to be.
Speaker 4 (09:34):
We don't know what all is happening with Michael.
Speaker 3 (09:36):
Going to Nashville, but we know that he's going to
announce it tomorrow morning.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
I mean just speaking logically, because I don't know anything.
They just told me to come in today because Mike
want to go out. But if they were going to
announce the co host, you'd think the co host which
would be used. I'm assuming who they're talking about would
be with them.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
I'm just right, logically speaking, I don't know what he's
going to give us some updates. Hey, good morning, Corey
and Candace Archie checking in for Baltimore County picking up
dumpsters at Eagles Transfer Service. So thanks for working hard
out there, Archie, and I hope you're bundled up.
Speaker 2 (10:06):
It is chili.
Speaker 4 (10:07):
It is chili.
Speaker 3 (10:08):
Something to caution your listeners about Route ninety seven from
Carroll County to Howard County. When you cross over from
that line at the railroad tracks the hill there has
a sheet of ice and people are sliding going both directions.
Speaker 4 (10:19):
To make sure to slow down.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
It never hits your brakes when you hear ice.
Speaker 4 (10:23):
Right.
Speaker 2 (10:24):
Kind of shocked that there's still ice out.
Speaker 3 (10:26):
I know, it's all these things that you don't think about.
So make sure that your speeds are down.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
Your kids on spring breaks are one of them is
yes right now.
Speaker 3 (10:33):
So one of my girls is on spring break. The
other is not. That comes closer to Easter for her.
But you know, we were talking about there's a lot
of travel happening. It seemed like one of my girlfriends
was traveling on six ninety five heading into the airport
and she's like, it's definitely busier than usual. Wasn't thinking
about spring break and then the airport is hustling and
bustling right now. Michael Jay is one of those people
(10:56):
that are there but we're like, I want to get
away because I'm done with the colder temperatures and we
are a lot of people are looking forward to spring break.
Speaker 4 (11:06):
But then there's the gas prices. Does it affect travel?
Speaker 2 (11:10):
Well, again, I think you've planned ahead of time. So
if you were, unless you're doing something spontaneous, if you
already planned on going to the beach, you're still driving
there right right, So I guess I'm more curious about
your situation because you got kids split up over different
weeks of spring games.
Speaker 3 (11:24):
Yeah, so so no, there is no like two cruises
happening on two separate weeks in our household. And yeah,
so then at that point you just have to figure out, Okay,
what do we do? So I take a meach to
some special locations at times. But we had one person
that said, Hey, I'm going to Orlando for a spring break.
(11:45):
Can't wait. I've done Disney for a spring break before.
Sometimes it's a little chillier.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
It's not aware chili down there. But I just saw
this the other day. You know how they do the
fast pass, Yes, so you can cut in line. The
price went up lane, Yeah, it was like four hundred dollars,
but that's on top of the ticket just to get in,
not to talk about getting there and doing the hotel.
It's like, how do you afford that?
Speaker 3 (12:11):
I know, it is becoming more and more difficult. We're
Disney people.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
When was the last time you were there? So recently?
Speaker 4 (12:19):
Yeah, so we're like.
Speaker 3 (12:22):
Right, like we're in like the Princess stage and Mickey.
Speaker 4 (12:26):
And Mini and so we were annual pass holders.
Speaker 3 (12:30):
And so I actually had a trip to Disney that
was planned right when COVID hit and we had to
cancel it obviously, And things have changed at Disney overtime
since then. But people are still going and it's not
stopping anybody. It's the one thing that well, it's not
stopping a lot of people. The pack the parks are
still packed. It might change your plans, But did.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
You take your kids when they were still in strollers?
Speaker 3 (12:55):
All right, Look, all my girls have had their first birthday.
Speaker 4 (13:00):
I walt Disney World.
Speaker 2 (13:01):
I don't understand that. I don't get it. It's so
expensive for that, They're not going to remember it.
Speaker 8 (13:05):
Just let me have my moment, okay, years it is
all yours, Candid say low jackpot, be prepared to call
in with your guests, that's going to happen here in
about four minutes.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
Your pop culture protein boost.
Speaker 6 (13:19):
It's the brief on ninety three point one WPOC.
Speaker 3 (13:23):
The Utility Relief Act to pass the State House of
Representatives and is now on its way to the Senate.
The proposal would save marylander Is at least one hundred
and fifty dollars a year per family by pulling money
from the Strategic Energy Investment Fund. According to BGE, the
average electric heating customer used ten percent more electricity this

Weather Service. The agency's storm damage Survey team determined that
the tornado touchdown in Ridgely, Maryland, which is in Caroline County,

Oh the United States falls to Venezuela in the World
(14:07):
Baseball Classic Championship, and Venezuela did clinch that title. It's
a first time ever there was a three to two
victory our Baltimore Orioles star Gunner Henderson was a part
of the effort, but we did fall short. And also
unbc's March Madness run comes to an end eighty six
to eighty three loss to Howard in the first four.
It was unbc's first appearance in the NCAA tournament since
(14:31):
twenty eighteen. That is your brief, and we are hearing
from a lot of you talking about the amazing sunrise.
So much color in the sky this morning, so we
hope you're enjoying that at least no rain or fog.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
It looks great.
Speaker 4 (14:45):
Guys.
Speaker 2 (14:45):
Yes, we have no windows here in the studio, so but.
Speaker 4 (14:48):
Ad way do you peer out at it? It's a
pretty sky.
Speaker 6 (14:51):
And up to twenty five hundred dollars it's ninety three
point one w POC's high Low cash contest.
Speaker 2 (14:59):
So there's a lot of my The jackpot anywhere from
one hundred to twenty five hundred. If you've been listening
along with the guesses, you've probably narrowed it down to
some extent, right.
Speaker 3 (15:08):
Regardless, anything more than like five dollars is a lot
of money for me, so I'd be happy to win.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
Say you want some money, you weren't expecting what would
you do with it?
Speaker 3 (15:17):
So I think I donate a good chunk of change
to charity, like I feel like I need to pay
it forward if I win it like that?
Speaker 2 (15:24):
What about you? I like vacations, okay, I feel like
you only live once. You need to have fun, and
this is money you weren't expecting. Do something fun with it.
For me, it'd be a trip somewhere. I like cruises,
so it'd probably be a cruise. Yolo, yolo.
Speaker 6 (15:37):
It's your chance to win up to twenty five hundred dollars.
It's ninety three point one w pocs HI low cash.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
Context eight hundred and three to two one thirty six ninety three.
Who are we talking to right now? My name is Jane, Hi, Jeanine.
Speaker 4 (15:52):
How are you this morning?
Speaker 7 (15:55):
If I'm calling number nine one, I am a goddess
because I've been trying so hard.
Speaker 4 (16:01):
Well, guess what your collar number nine today?
Speaker 3 (16:04):
Oh my gosh, A congratulations?
Speaker 4 (16:07):
So all right? You know how this works?
Speaker 2 (16:09):
Right?
Speaker 6 (16:10):
Yes?
Speaker 5 (16:10):
I do?
Speaker 4 (16:11):
All right? What's your guest?
Speaker 7 (16:12):
Two thousand, three hundred ten dollars two.
Speaker 3 (16:17):
Thousand, three hundred and ten dollars. All right, we're gonna
lock that in.
Speaker 2 (16:23):
That's too high, too high?
Speaker 4 (16:26):
Oh all right, So here's.
Speaker 3 (16:28):
The deal you got through. Now keep trying your next
chance to win coming up at nine ten. Okay, thank
you so much, thank you you too.
Speaker 2 (16:37):
You as well. So the next chance the plays is
going to be at nine to ten.
Speaker 4 (16:42):
We want to give away some money this morning.
Speaker 2 (16:44):
I would love to give away money because when you
give away money, people.
Speaker 4 (16:46):
Remember you so and maybe they can give you a
dollar or two.
Speaker 2 (16:50):
It's like paid for like you mentioned earlier, huh exactly. Okay,
and macadayck Ojay.
Speaker 6 (17:00):
Cars called you's supposed talk over the Mappel Dager.
Speaker 2 (17:02):
But you got somebody singing your entry. You know you've
made it. That's the greatest extra hour.
Speaker 4 (17:06):
Yeah, he is in the big lights now.
Speaker 2 (17:08):
So we got a couple of artists opening up a
bar in Nashville. It seems like you're not a country
artist unless you got a bar in Nashville. Yeah, Kane
Brown's opening one. You've got Chris Young and also col
Schmidell both opening up a sports bar this year on Broadway.
So yeah, that to Low Course is packed. It's like,
is there any space left? No, I don't think so.
And then you know, I don't know if you heard,
(17:30):
but Luke Bryan and Jason Aldan. They had a steakhouse
with the baseball player Adam ul Roach. They close that down.
They're going to open it up into something else. So
it's like it doesn't work. Just new concept for so Hardy.
He's launching his own app if you're a big Hardy fan.
Subscribers get access to exclusive content pre sale codes. They
also get music before anybody else. If I had room
(17:51):
on my phone for another app, I would download it.
But I'm to the point where I have to delete
something to even take a video.
Speaker 4 (17:56):
I hear ya.
Speaker 3 (17:57):
I understand that. How many pictures do you have on
your phone? Like three thousand something? But this was a
big debate, like a month ago, I have like eighty thousand.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
Oh tell me that you don't go back and look
at your eighty thousands picture what like ten years ago?
Speaker 5 (18:11):
I do.
Speaker 3 (18:13):
Look when you have when you have four children in
the house, like there's a lot.
Speaker 4 (18:17):
Of four kids. I can only imagine.
Speaker 2 (18:19):
So A, But you got something about a fire.
Speaker 5 (18:21):
Yeah, the band Lenko, their tour bus caught on fire
on Sunday night into Monday morning.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
And the pictures are insane. I'll put them up on socials.
Speaker 4 (18:30):
But luckily everyone's okay, and it.
Speaker 5 (18:33):
Just ended up being some kind of like fluke thing
with their engine, but it was crazy.
Speaker 2 (18:36):
I want to this is a thing because that comedian
Bert I can't think of the last thing.
Speaker 4 (18:39):
Oh Chrysler.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
Yeah yeah, a fire on his tour bus as well
as the other day. So yeah, I O don't know,
it's going around crazy
