Speaker 1 (00:58):
Or do we make here's I'm thinking if it's okay,
but you might have a better idea.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
Last night on the Oscars, everybody was.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
Asked who were you wearing right all you got to
do is be ready to tell us who you're wearing.

Speaker 4 (01:12):
Okay, So we had some nightgowns in the mix this morning.
We've had Carhart.

Speaker 1 (01:18):

the All right, that's enough, that's.

Speaker 5 (02:15):
Ok.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
So Kara gets tickets for Tim McGraw. I gotta ask
you who you're wearing this morning? After the Oscars last night,
they asked everyone, who are you wearing?

Speaker 3 (02:26):
Miss Kara?

Speaker 2 (02:28):
I am wearing Brooks and Cohuna.

Speaker 5 (02:45):
All right?

Speaker 3 (02:46):
We all right, CANDUs, you sound a great singing with
Tim mcgrawl.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
Ca not me.

Speaker 4 (02:52):
I don't have no voice, and you know I really
like Tim mcgrawl, so I can't disgrace his all right
here songs.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
I like the way you say that ninety three point
one WPOC Michael j here in the morning along with
Candace last night the Oscars. Now, maybe you don't pay attention,
but you may hear about this. In order to get
the stars to show up, even when they're nominated for awards,
they have to give out goodie bags so that they'll

(03:21):
come because otherwise, think about it, if you're already a
millionaire and you're like, well, I have to go with
that dumb award or whatever you don't really want to go.
But if they tell you you're gonna get three hundred
and fifty thousand dollars in goodies in a goodie bag,
then people show up.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
This always blows my mind what these people get.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
So we have the list here. I just thought it'd
be fun to I'll just mention a couple of them.
Candace and does anything that pops off to you that
you you really think is amazing, mention it. So here's
what they each supposedly get. If you're a nominee for
an Oscar, you don't even have to win, and you
get essence of dreams. Private luxury villa stay at a
nine million dollar private villa Implyia Hermosa, Costa Rica with concierge,

(04:04):
chef and a driver.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
Everybody got that.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
Yeah, I'll take just that. But there's like a whole
other list in the goody bag.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
Hide out villas, luxury Arctic villa.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
Via Villa is a villa, right, Yeah, that's how you
say villa stay and finish Lapland.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
With the northern lights, viewing in a private chef.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
How about the Golden Door.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
Every nominee also got seven day wellness retreat in southern California,
the Santini a ten day wellness receipt or a reset
A reset. Yeah, I can't even make it through the
prizes that they give everybody, a seven day wellness retreat.
I'm sorry, ten day wellness reset in Sri Lanka and

(04:49):
the Michelin recognized.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
Anyway, this goes on and on.

Speaker 4 (04:52):
Twenty five thousand dollars facial rejuvenation procedure in New York.
I'm sorry, but what kind of pers are we talking
about for twenty five thousand dollars?

Speaker 1 (05:03):
How about the body sculpting LEPO experience from doctor Thomas.

Speaker 4 (05:07):
Sue Custom Prenuptial Agreement created by celebrity divorce attorney James sixty.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
Oh my god.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
They get kabuki inspired Japanese luggage.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
They don't need any more luggage they each get.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
They each get gold plated cold storage cryptocurrency wallets.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
I mean, it's insane the gifts that they're given in
this bag.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
And so this year it was worth three hundred and
fifty thousand dollars to each one of the nominated stars
who were at the Oscars last night.

Speaker 4 (05:37):
I think just the outfits that they wore last night,
like they're usually gifted right right, like it's designed for
them around their body.

Speaker 2 (05:45):
I would think like that would just be an off.

Speaker 5 (05:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
Well, in case you ever wondered if the stars do
live a different life, they and they did barely see
each other in all this fog today, and we're going to.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
Deal with this throughout the day.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
We've got a four out of five, that's what they're
saying as far as the intensity of what these storms
could bring. So it's very important that you stay informed.
This is another reason why we always say get the
iHeartRadio app, because if you should lose your power, at
least you'll still have your phone.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
It's a very real threat today, Yeah, it is.

Speaker 1 (06:19):
And they say when these storms come through, it's going
to be a whole line of them and they could
last for hours.

Speaker 4 (06:25):
Yes, and it sounds like most of us are in
that area for storms. It's widespread, So certainly, yeah, make
sure that you're prepared.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
All right, you are pop culture protein Boost, it's the brief.
On ninety three point ONEPOC.

Speaker 4 (06:42):
Mayor Brandon Scott has announced Baltimore City's preparedness plan for
severe weather as potential thunderstorms and tornadoes are forecasted for
today the Office of Emergency Management will activate the Emergency
Operations Center at one o'clock.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Officials are urging.

Speaker 4 (06:56):
Residents to remain alert and prepare and of course stick
with us here on ninety three point one WPO scene.
The UNBC Retrievers are heading back to the NCAA Tournament.
It will be the first time since they made history
in twenty eighteen when they became the first number sixteen
seed to upstate in number one seed in the history
of the NCAA Tournament. UNBC will play Thursday in Dayton,

(07:18):
Ohio in a first four matchup against Howard for the
sixteen seed.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
The winner will get number one.

Speaker 4 (07:24):
Michigan gunner Henderson started a third base for the United
States Sunday night in the World Baseball Classic semifinals and then.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
Home run in the fourth inning against the Dominican Republic.

Speaker 4 (07:36):
Henderson, our Baltimore Orioles shortstop, drove a three to two
sweeper and set up the go ahead home run in
a two to one win for the American's third trip
to the final.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
That is your brief Michael.

Speaker 3 (07:49):
Jay's music City Minute. Yes was happening in Country music?

Speaker 4 (07:52):
Is happening in Michael J's music Sat ninety three point
one wpoced.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
What he's trying to say, Candae is if it's gone
going on in country music, it's going on right here?

Speaker 2 (08:02):
Got it all right?

Speaker 1 (08:03):
So here's what we can tell you. Garth Brooks is
planning a show in London. I've never been to London,
but wouldn't it be wild to go there? See Garth.
He announced his full supporting lineup. Listen who's playing this
show with him at Hyde Park. It'll mark his return
to the UK stage and it features Alexandra kay Jackson,

(08:26):
Dean from Maryland, the Shires, I'm not sure who that is,
Mae Estes, the Zach Brown Band, Ashley McBride, and I
would not be surprised to see Trisha Yearwood show up
just because hey, maybe she wants to go hang out.

Speaker 5 (08:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
He take your husband, right, and take your wife. The
concert is set for June twenty seventh. The Zach Brown
Band has also been named as one of the three
big headliners for this year's nc double A March Music Festival.
It's a free three day celebration taking place in Indianapolis

(09:07):
from April third through the fifth round the NCAA Championship.
It'll be the Zach Brown Band, Megan Maroney as a headliner,
and so is twenty one Pilots. And finally, Riley Green
is the latest country star to deal with rally fans.
During his show in Melbourne, Australia over the weekend, a
fan through a cell phone on stage slammed Riley Green

(09:30):
on the side of the head, and in a fan
film video you can see blood running down Green's neck
as a member of his team came out to wipe
it away with a rag. The country star was able
to point toward where the phone came from. Security escorted
the fan to the door. Green continued the show later

(09:51):
made jokes about the incident, but then had to get stitches.
So there you go, right ninety three point one WPOC,
Michael j and Candace here, and we've got John Sales,
who's the Deputy director of Communication and fog Lights at
the Maryland Transportation Authority. He'll be holding fog lights up

(10:12):
on the Bay Bridge today, Is that right, John?

Speaker 3 (10:13):
You're helping everybody get across.

Speaker 5 (10:17):
Absolutely, We're going to be out there. You know. The
most important thing I think to get across during inclement
weather is that you know, we prioritize safety, and we
you know m DTA as we own and operate a
lot of all the all of the toll facilities in Maryland,
including the bridges, we just you know, we we intend

(10:41):
to keep them open as much as we can, but
sometimes the inclement weather like we're expected to have today
makes us have to implement some wind warnings and restrictions.

Speaker 4 (10:51):
Of course, wind warnings are in effect for the Bay
Bridge right now.

Speaker 2 (10:55):
What does that mean and what should drivers know?

Speaker 5 (10:58):
Right? Yes, with wind warnings which are in effect at
the Bay as well as the nice Middleton Bridge down
in Charles County, those mean that we have sustained wind
speeds at thirty to thirty nine miles per hour, all right,
And what that means is that we just advise, you know,

(11:21):
owners of house trailers, box trailers, motorcycles and other vehicles
that they may be subject to high winds as they
cross the bridge. So it does not mean that there
are any vehicles that are not permitted to cross so at.

Speaker 1 (11:34):
This point, in other words, attractor trailers can still go
across the Bay Bridge.

Speaker 5 (11:40):
That's correct, all right?

Speaker 1 (11:42):
At what point I mean if that happens at some
point today, what would the information say, what should people
listen out for If they should, you know, plan on
not being able to get across the Bay Bridge for
any reason.

Speaker 5 (11:56):
And that's when we start to get the higher wind
speeds limited and in full wind restrictions were most vehicles
are permitted to cross. However, like you said, some of
some like house trailers, empty box trailers, you know, are
are just we're just not allowing them to get across

(12:18):
during those limited or full wind restrictions.

Speaker 3 (12:21):
Got it.

Speaker 5 (12:21):
What people definitely want to want to keep an eye
out for are the traffic holes that we have or
complete bridge closure. And that's when we have sustained wind
speeds exceeding fifty five miles per hour and open that's.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
What they're talking about.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
We started hitting sixty seventy an hour, You're going to
shut the whole thing down, is what you're saying.

Speaker 5 (12:41):
That's correct, and that decision is not one that we
take lightly. We do have a stellar operations team at
all of our facilities, including the Bay Bridge. They're monitoring this, uh,
the wind speeds and real real time conditions. They have
different instrum mints that are on the bridge that tell

(13:03):
us exactly what those wind speeds are right, so yeah,
you know, and I'm had hapened before in the past.
I've been you know where we've had to do that
for an extended period time.

Speaker 1 (13:14):
But i gotta tell you, John, I'm a white knuckler,
even regular you know, on our good days, when it's
blowing forty to fifty miles, you can feel it going
against your vehicle out there, and you've got a big
suv or whatever, You're going to feel it, so absolutely
use caution.

Speaker 3 (13:30):
Anyway, How does.

Speaker 1 (13:32):
This does this impact any of the tunnels that we
have or any other areas around the state beyond just
the bridges.

Speaker 5 (13:41):
No, Well, at the tunnels in Baltimore, you know, those
those tend to do pretty well during you know, implement
weather like today. They're not affected by wind speeds, so uh,
you know, even during you know, sign thinking weather like hurricanes,

(14:01):
those tunnels have been opened to the public. So all right,
you don't have to necessarily, I'm just trying to worry about.

Speaker 3 (14:08):
I'm just trying to think where we're going to run
into any kind of issues, right.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
You know, we will keep our eyes.

Speaker 4 (14:12):
I'm sure it will be alerted on those overhead signs
as well, Right.

Speaker 5 (14:16):
Yeah, yeah, and I think you know too. You you
you got to recognize that drafting conditions they can change,
you know, rapidly during these storms. So you gotta be
be mindful of standing water or trees that might be
in the roadway, right, you know, flash flooding can occur.

Speaker 1 (14:34):
You know, I'll be in my basement very Oh you're
coming down my basement taking shelter. Yeah, we're going down
the You've got to have some place to go where
you don't you know, you don't have anything falling on
top of you.

Speaker 2 (14:44):
Right.

Speaker 4 (14:44):
So well, thank you for joining us and your hard work.
I'm sure it's going to be a very busy day
for you.

Speaker 5 (14:49):
We appreciate you, John, absolutely, I appreciate the effort to
thank you.

Speaker 1 (14:53):
There you go, Thank you very much. Uh and again
the Deputy Director of Communications and Maryland Transportation, mister John
Sales here on ninety three point one. Yeah, WPOC. That
wind warning thing is something you've got to pay attention to.
Thanks again to John over at the MDTA. What we
found out, basically that we can share with you right

(15:13):
now is if you are going to be out there
traveling on perhaps the Bay Bridge or any of our
the nice bridge, which might not be so nice today
if it's too windy. So you can always go to
the MDTA on Twitter which is now x and they
have all the updates on there the bulletins, or going

(15:34):
to the Bay Bridge eight seven seven BA span that's
a number.

Speaker 4 (15:37):
To three, and so the wind warnings are in effect
of the Bay Bridge this time.

Speaker 2 (15:41):
They are not in effect at the Tidings or Hayden Bridges.

Speaker 4 (15:44):
But we will see as all of this continues to
unfold today, right, so use caution
