Speaker 1 (00:01):
And the Seattle Seahawks are now the number one seed
in the NFC. If the playoffs started today with a buy.
This is MJ in the midday. My name is Mark
James on sports Radio ninety three to three KJAR, Seattle
sports leader Christopher Kidd on the other side of the glass,
executive producer. So obviously, each and every Monday, we would
(00:26):
and I mean that's not even a discussion, we would
start with the Hawks, especially during football seam. Hell, we
might start with the Hawks every Monday throughout the course
of the year period. Today is one of those exceptions
because Seattle lost one of our own. And I can
(00:47):
say our because I'm here now full time. Lenny Wilkins
fifteen year playing career was a player coach here with
the Sonics from nineteen sixty eight through nineteen seventy two,
then came back to coach the team. After that, he
(01:10):
wrapped up his player slash coach career in Portland and
came back to Seattle and led this franchise to its
first ever world title and any sport. And he was
(01:30):
on KJR back in the spring when they named the
street outside CPA Climate Pledge Arena formerly Key Arena, Lenny
Wilkins way, and thankfully they did it while he was
still alive, because.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Lenny Wilkins.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
And there's nothing else that really you could say about
Lenny Wilkins if I had to define him in a word,
in a few words, in a sentence, but he deserves
hours and hours and hours.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
But I would say.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
Success, benevolence, in class, and you could use a bunch
of superlatives to describe Lenny Wilkins, but I think those three.
He was just the epitome of class and thoughts, prayers
(02:38):
and condolences to the Wilkins family and of course all
his former teammates and players who played for him. He
was at one time the all time winning his coach
in NBA history, then was surpassed by Don Nelson and
then Greg Popovich. He coached, as I mentioned, the Sonics,
the Blazers, the Calves, the Hawks, the Raptors, and the
(03:01):
Knicks before retiring in two thousand and five. He also
won an Olympic gold medal as the coach of the
ninety six US team Dream Team two. He was an
assistant coach for Dream Team one. He in this when
you look at his career, I mean I could sit
(03:22):
here all show long and just talk about it. He's
one of only five men to be inducted into the
Naysmith Basketball Hall of Fame in my hometown of Springfield, Massachusetts,
as both a player and a coach, joining John Wooden,
Bill Sharmon, Tommy Heinzen, and Bill Russell. Adam Silver quoted,
(03:45):
Lenny Wilkins represented a very best of the NBA as
an nb as a Hall of Fame player, hall of
Fame coach, in one of the games most respected ambassadors,
so much so that four years ago Lenny received the
unique distinction being named one of the league's seventy five
greatest players in fifteen Greatest Coaches of all time end quote.
(04:10):
He was traded to then the expansion SuperSonics in nineteen
sixty eight, and before the sixty nine to seventy season,
then Sonics GM Dick Vertlieb asked Wilkins to become player coach,
and Wilkins said, quote, I told him though at first,
(04:30):
and I finally decided, what the heck, I had nothing
to lose. I'll try it and see if I liked it.
Everyone always said I was like a coach on the
floor anyway, and then came back to Seattle thereafter and
led this franchise to the nineteen seventy nine NBA title.
(04:53):
They fired, i believe, coach Bob Hopkins when they got
off to a really bad start, and it was and
that was the beginning of the seventy eight to seventy
nine season, and then he led him to a title.
Speaker 2 (05:10):
So there it was.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
Actually that was the beginning of the seventy seven seventy
eight season, replacing Bob Hopkins, and then they lost to
the Bullets in seven games in seventy eight and beat
them down in seventy nine in five games. So we
will speak to Xavier McDaniel coming up at the top
(05:34):
of next hour to talk to him and the x
Man about what coach Wilkins meant to him because he
was the one who drafted x Man to Seattle out
of Wichita State back in the eighties. So a very somber,
sad day here in Seattle, but we will commemorate the beautiful,
(06:00):
full life and career of Lenny Wilkins. And not only
was he inducted as a player and a coach into
the Basketball Hall of Fame, he was also inducted as
part of the Dream Team. So he's technically, if I'm
not mistaken, the only three time Hall of Famer in
(06:24):
basketball history because they did this thing where they inducted
the entire Dream Team, every player on that team from
MJ to Clyde Drexler and Christian Lightner, Yes, Christian Layightner
was on that team, and all the coaches who are
part of that team as well.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
PJ.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
Carlissimo, who will join us tomorrow and he will talk
Lenny Wilkins, Mike Krzyzewski, Jim Beheim. So we do this
thing every Monday, Hot take Monday at noon. We open
up the phones at noon and we give away a
platter of boor Said sandwiches. But prior to that, if
(07:06):
you want to go to the free iHeartRadio Apple for
ninety three to three KJR and just leave something that
you would remember about Coach Wilkins in what he meant
to Seattle, that'd be great and you could win a
platter of boy Said sandwiches because he meant so much
to the city and he always will. And I'm so
(07:26):
glad that they named Lenny Wilkins way during the spring.
I'm so glad they did that while he was still
here with us on the surf because usually a lot
of things like that can happen posthumously, like Baseball's trying
to do now with Pete Rose, which to me is
hollow and shallow and vapid. But Lenny Wilkins was the
(07:48):
epitome of class, success and benevolence. You just saw that
big smile, and he could light up a tunnel in
a third world country. He was just full of life
and certainly one of the greatest contributors to the game
of basketball we've ever had. So rest in peace to
(08:11):
coach and player and Seattle Supersonic forever, Lenny Wilkins. No
easy way to segue from that, but I'm gonna try,
because we needed to do what's right first and obviously
(08:32):
coming off a absolute another statement Hawks win yesterday thirty five
nothing with eight and a half minutes left in the
second quarter. Just gonna tell you, I left at that point.
There was no need for me to hit traffic and
wait till the end of game when it was already
(08:54):
decided thirty five nothing at that point, and I knew
that there was there's no way Mike McDonald would blow
that lead.
Speaker 2 (09:06):
At that point. It was even.
Speaker 1 (09:08):
It was about the level of having a like a
three to one lead in Game seven of the Alcs
with eight outs to go. But I just had confidence
in Mike McDonald he would not blow that game, and
of course he didn't. That's why he's already become one
of the best coaches in the NFL. All right, So
that game yesterday just belt to ass whipping Cardinals are trash.
(09:33):
Seahawks made him look worse than trash. And what can
you say? I mean, you thought it was deja vou,
But it happened opposite sides of the field when ty
Reese Knight knocked the ball out of Jacoby Brissette's hands
and DeMarcus Lawrence picked it up for a scoop and score.
(09:56):
And then it happened again on the other side the field.
You're like, whoa, this is deja vu? How is this happening?
I mean, you know, a team must dominate another team
when the quarterback only throws twelve times in the entire game,
(10:17):
as Sam Darnold did twelve times, he didn't need to
throw anymore, and for the first time in a long time,
the Hawks running game, although nobody had over one hundred
yards at least they were able to average over four
plus yards per carry.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
So yesterday was a clinic.
Speaker 1 (10:41):
And it was to show that the Seattle Seahawks are
a team that maybe, just maybe, everybody not guaranteeing anything,
so don't kill me on this one. Maybe people in
the PNW area might want to start looking at booking
rooms in Santa Clara the first week of February, just
(11:06):
to be on the safe side. You know, have a
cancelation in case you need to cancel, but you might
want to start looking at that right now. Now people
could say, well, we can fly down to San Francisco.
It's only two hours. Good luck getting a flight. Good
luck getting a flight from Seattle to San Francisco. If
(11:27):
the Seahawks make it on the Saturday, the day before
the Super Bowl or the day of the Super Bowl,
good luck getting a flight. Then I'd start booking at
least look to see what hotel rooms are costing right now.
That's how confident I feel about this team. This team
got it done in every phase of the game yesterday.
It was so bad for Arizona that I felt sorry
(11:51):
for them. I really did. I just did. And before
the game, the guy where the visiting team tunnel comes
out the guy who's been doing it for twenty plus years.
I gotta admit his trash talk game is elite. He
(12:12):
let the Arizona Cardinals kind of know what he thinks
of them before this game started, and he looked like
a prophet.
Speaker 3 (12:20):
Your Duteak's bracket smelling from here.
Speaker 4 (12:22):
He needs some don bro, he needs some man.
Speaker 2 (12:25):
He was up the owner. Yeah, heay me. You you're
his girlfriend?
Speaker 1 (12:31):
Up?
Speaker 3 (12:31):
You do in the relationship?
Speaker 4 (12:33):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (12:34):
I knew it.
Speaker 2 (12:34):
I can see it from here.
Speaker 1 (12:36):
He's Juno over there, Hey, knockoff Gino? Right there? Yeah,
knockoff Gino. He's referring to Jacobe Brssett. But here's what
you can see in the video that is out there.
Jacoby Barsett's like, don't call me knockoff Gino.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
Don't even call me that. It was funny. I mean
that cracked me up.
Speaker 1 (13:02):
And then after that it was just it's just one
of those things that you just say, hey, when it's
thirty five nothing with eight and a half minutes left
in the second quarter, how do we get this clock
to double zeros as much as possible?
Speaker 2 (13:21):
Leaning on the running game, not putting it.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
Sam Darnold's hands, unfortunately killing my player prop on JSN
over ninety five and a half yards. Yes, I missed
that by three. He ended up with five catches for
ninety three yards. His over under total was ninety five
and a half. And that killed it for me. Killed it.
(13:44):
Seahawks nearly covered the total of the game by themselves.
It's forty five and a half. They had forty four.
So another statement, just another thing. And I'm not gonna
look ahead to next weekend. We got plenty of the
week to get there. I want to talk about the
game yesterday and exactly how great this team is in
(14:11):
how great they could possibly be offense, defense, special teams,
And Hugh Millen was on the morning show today and
he was even talking about, you know, in everything that
he does in terms of the special teams unit an
(14:32):
EPA for expected points added and how they are number
one in the NFL. Right now, I'll tell you what
if I'm handicapping this thing today today, what's the date, Monday,
November tenth, could be a Super Bowl forty nine rematch
(14:58):
Patriots Seahawks. Patriots looks like the best team in the
ANFC right now. They are them. They are them. They
look unbelievable. They might have the MVP. They fixed everything,
they got the air apparent to Tom Brady and Bill
Belichick and Drake May and Mike Rabel.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
They are rolling.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
They got two of the most impressive road wins of
the season at Buffalo and at Tampa. But the Seattle
Seahawks are road warriors, and they're eleven to one. And
I will just say this, I'm not going to get
into preview of Rams because we're still going to talk
about this game. And Matthew Stafford has been nothing short
(15:40):
of absolutely spectacular and ridiculous all season long. By the way,
NFC point deferential leaders this season, Rams plus ninety eight
and number two Seahawks Numero Uno in the NFC at
plus one oh three. Matthew Stafford in his last six
games became the first in NFL history the twenty passing
(16:02):
touchdowns in zero interceptions over a six game span. He's
thirty seven, gonna be thirty eight years old, and he's
playing at a level that I've never seen. He's the
first player with four plus TV passes in zero interceptions
in three straight regular season games. But I'm gonna tell
(16:23):
you something Matthew. You haven't faced this Mike McDonald defense
this season. You haven't faced them, Nicki min Worri, Tyree Snight,
no Arne Jones, no problem. Next man up, Next man up.
And this team is unfreaking believable.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
All right.
Speaker 1 (16:44):
On the other side, what did yesterday mean? And how
great is this team? I'm gonna sit here and I'm
gonna sing the praises because it's justifiably so. How great
are the twenty two on T five Seattle Seahawks. Oh
by the way, remember those totals before the season began
(17:07):
on back in April, May, June, July. They changed someone
at a time in August. Remember the quote oddsmakers and
experts seven and a half wins, seven and two through
the first nine games. How about that, Apples. We'll get
to that next. Xavier McDaniel at eleven Hot Take Monday,
(17:27):
don't forget you go the free iHeartRadio app leave your take.
If you want to do a tribute to Lenny Wilkins, Fine,
you want to talk about the Seahawks, It's fine.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
Oh by the way, Oh by the.
Speaker 1 (17:37):
Way, I'd be remissed if I didn't mention the biggest
losers of the weekend, the Washington Huskies. Are you fin
serious to a two and six Wisconsin team ten and
a half point favorite in you lose? Uh oh uh oh.
(17:59):
The honey moon is over for Jedfish here in Seattle.
We'll get to all that here. I'm Jay in the
Midday Christopher Kid Sports Radio ninety three to three KJRFM.
I don't, but come on, guys, it was thirty five nothing,
So I'll admit it.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
I didn't have to tell you on the air.
Speaker 1 (18:12):
But you know, a former mentor of mine said, you
can lie to your friends, you can lie to your parents,
you can lie to your sister, brother cousins. I'm an
only child, so don't have any sisters or brothers. You
can lie to your aunt, uncle, grandmother, grandfather, your fellow classmates. Whoever,
(18:37):
don't ever lie to your audience. So I left early
thirty five nothing. I don't you know. No, I'm not
getting stuck in traffic for thirty five nothing. At that
point I knew that this team. You know, I've been
asking this question now for a long time, and maybe
(18:58):
I need to start at Just bear with me, Just
bear with me. I'm not premature celebrating anything. Yet I
keep saying, is this the best defense since the Legion
of Boom era?
Speaker 2 (19:17):
And it is. That's not even a question anymore.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
It is the best defense since that time of twenty
twelve to twenty sixteen.
Speaker 2 (19:25):
That's not even a question anymore. That's a fact.
Speaker 1 (19:30):
I mean, I know the Legion of Boom four straight
years they led the league in defensive points allowed, and
no defense in the history of the NFL has ever
done that. So I understand we are, but let's start
putting some respect on this team's names and game because
(19:52):
they deserve it. Kid yesterday just woodshed el to ass whooping.
Not much to say. I didn't expect it to be
that back because I thought the Cardinals of what I
saw Monday night at Dallas, even though they don't have
a defense.
Speaker 2 (20:09):
But I thought, hey, they could be competitive.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
It's a divisional game to no avail for Arizona, man none.
Speaker 5 (20:17):
That goes to the credit of Mike McDonald and what
he's doing with this team.
Speaker 3 (20:21):
Every week.
Speaker 5 (20:21):
They've gotten better defensively. Yeah, I know, late in the
game it didn't go their way. If you look at it,
the Cardinals won the second half. Technically, the Seahawks only
scored what for a math, certainly right, twelve points so
or what?
Speaker 2 (20:36):
I can't do the math, but you get my point.
Speaker 5 (20:38):
The Seahawks defense is legit to be up thirty five
zero and just dominating, and Sam Donald's just having a
they don't even know. They don't even have opportunities to
throw the ball as much because they're just whipping teams
behind in the first half. And Mike McDonald has these
guys locked in two different play calls the same result
with Tyree Knight. The first time they do it, they
(21:00):
send the six man blitz, they get after him. Second
time they do it and they just send a pressure
five guys and who's the one guy that's left alone,
Tyree Knight, and he makes the play. And then DeMarcus Lawrence.
Two touchdowns in a game by a defensive player. That
is incredible. But that goes to my McDonald putting his
players in position to make plays, and you have the
ball has to bounce their way, and it did on Sunday,
(21:21):
and they needed turnovers because coming up into that game
they weren't doing so hot in turnovers. They weren't they
haven't really got any. Yeah, they would have sacked the quarterback,
they get off the field on third down, but for
whatever reason, they haven't been able to get the football.
Speaker 3 (21:33):
And yesterday against the Cardinals, it was a.
Speaker 2 (21:37):
Fest.
Speaker 3 (21:38):
It was a party of turnovers, all right.
Speaker 5 (21:40):
So they did a really good job of just making
Jacob Brissett feel very uncomfortable. They got after him and
they didn't make it easy. And that's just been the
McDonald way since he got the Seattle How can I
make the quarterback uncomfortable? And he's doing that and he's
been a masterclass in that regard. So that's great to
see and they know what the running game. Finally, ten
(22:01):
weeks in found success. They had a thirteen play drive,
including the field goal that Myers made, but they ran
it the entire drive, pop for seven yards, five yards
first down, eight yards six yards first down. They just
did that all the way down the field, chewed cluck
seven minute drive. That's how you win. Because there's gonna,
(22:22):
to be honest, the Rams game, it might come down
to can you chew that clock up? If you're up six,
walk them down, get a field goal and be up
nine with two minutes left. That's how the game could
come down to something like that. Who has the ball last.
Can't you win it?
Speaker 2 (22:39):
We'll get to that.
Speaker 1 (22:40):
We got plenty of week to get I mean that
this game is gonna be maybe the game of the year.
Speaker 5 (22:44):
And how they ran the ball effectively just shows Okay,
they're stacking it. Can they do it again? Can they
stack some of them? Mike McDonald has said stacking wins,
doing the right things and playing the Seahawks football way,
and so far that was their best performance. I think overall,
turnovers not really a team issue, more so something Sam
(23:04):
Donald's got to figure out because he's been the guy
that's turned the ball over.
Speaker 3 (23:09):
Kenneth Walker hasn't fumbled. I don't.
Speaker 5 (23:11):
I don't think he's lost the fumble in his career.
Q Sharberne hasn't put the ball on the ground at all.
I think Jayson's the only person that FuMB, but I
think it was on that pitch that he threw that
crazy play. So anywhosn that fumbled I'm talking about the
entire season, like, oh yeah, yeah, I thought you meant
the Jalen Milrod to to.
Speaker 6 (23:33):
Right.
Speaker 2 (23:33):
That was a bad play and by the way, eliminate that.
Another thing.
Speaker 5 (23:38):
Was there any trick plays yesterday that is true, and
they didn't do anything. But you didn't need to know
you don't, don't. You just whipped the other team's ass. That'
shit handle business. So Sam Donald has an issue with turnovers.
I was gonna say that, let me get the red
penn out. He's unlucky though. The one off barner, I
don't that's just I don't know how many time that's
gonna happen.
Speaker 1 (23:57):
Okay, yeah, but he's gotta listen. We saw it Nick
Bosa when Bradford got back to know him. He's gotta
be more careful with the ball. He lost two fumbles
yester year. I'll give him. I'll give him a mulligan
on one of them. He's got to be more careful
than that. And here's where I have to get the
red pen out. We can't be all puppy Dog's ice
cream and rainbows on a Monday. Can't got to do
(24:20):
a better job defending the tight end. Cannot defend the
tight end. Now, they had to get some offense somewhere.
And de Mercado, and I mean Trey McBride is the
best tight end in the NFL. So let's say like
there's no question about that. But Maserati Marv looked like
(24:41):
Jalopie car Marv yesterday. He did have a touchdown, three
catches for thirty three yards. That's a meh. That's a
meh game. So I I'm loving it. I know this
city got wrapped up as I did as well when
the Mariners made a run to the and we're possibly
(25:01):
gonna go to the World Series. Seattle is a football town, okay,
in a basketball town. Basketball and football baseball love the Meritors,
no disrespect. Seattle is a football in basketball town, period
exclamation point.
Speaker 2 (25:22):
And I can just sense that.
Speaker 1 (25:29):
I mean, listen, what was the one criticism, kid, that
I had of John Schneider's offseason moves that I didn't like.
You might not remember, but I'll remind you were. I
didn't like paying DeMarcus Lawrence eighteen million dollars guaranteed. I
thought that was a little much for a guy who
I felt didn't have much left in his tank. Well
(25:51):
guess I'm gonna eat Crow on that one. And I
love eating Crow on that one. I'll eat Crow bro
on that one every day. I don't mind it. I mean,
I mean everything that John Schneider has done so far, so far,
for this franchise.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
It's like it's like he's got the answers.
Speaker 1 (26:12):
Like Tom Brady would always say going into Sunday in
the Belichick era in New England when they won six
Super Bowls, we always felt like we had the answers
before the test on Sunday. That's how I feel the
moves that John Schneider has made going back to the
off season.
Speaker 2 (26:32):
Look at this team, look at this draft.
Speaker 1 (26:34):
Look at the moves Cooper cup check, DeMarcus Lawrence check.
I mean we could go on and on and like
it's like getting rid of DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett and
Geno Smith check check check the additions, but not only
the additions, the subtractions. He just knew, he knew, Mike
(27:00):
McDonald knew. I don't I don't want Ryan Grubb. I
want my guy, Clint kobiak Boom. Ever since Clint stopped,
you know, getting cute. And by the way, I wouldn't
mind if he called some chicanery and trick plays up
thirty eight nothing with eight and a half minute, thirty
five nothing with eight and a half minutes left in
the second quarter. I wouldn't have minded that. You don't
(27:22):
need to you're the number one seed in the NFC today.
That could change after Sunday or could continue to remain
the same.
Speaker 2 (27:33):
Oh, I can't wait.
Speaker 1 (27:35):
Oh. By the way, speaking of that game, all of
y'all are invited. This Sunday, we got a Seattle away
game Rumble watch party at Muckles Chute.
Speaker 2 (27:47):
Come on out and join me.
Speaker 1 (27:48):
I'm gonna be there extra early, so if you need
help with your bets, I'm gonna be there at like
nine in the morning. But we're gonna do the watch
party at Galaxy this Sunday for the the biggest game
of the year. And I don't want any excuses from
any of you guys. I know it was a Sunday night.
(28:08):
Oh the game started at five point fifteen last Sunday
five fifteen. There's no excuses this Sunday. I want you
all to be there, all of you this Sunday one o'clock.
Start Seahawks Rams what not only could be for the
NFC West Divisional title, could be a preview of the
NFC Championship game for real. But remember, I know they
(28:32):
look great. I know Matthew Stafford's getting better like a
fine wine. He hasn't faced a defense like this yet,
we'll see, we will see. That's all I'm saying. Hasn't
faced a defense like this.
Speaker 2 (28:45):
One yet, That's all I'm saying. We will find out.
Speaker 1 (28:50):
And that's exactly why they play the games. The college
football rankings have been exposed as somewhat fraudulent, and something
happened during a game on Saturday that exposed the absolute
joke hypocrisy of the rankings. And I don't think these
(29:13):
were supposed to be exposed during a live game that
I was watching. We'll get to that next. Xavier McDaniel
x Man coming up at eleven to talk about the
late great in one and only Seattle's finest Lenny Wilkins.
Speaker 7 (29:48):
Look between the two because of the head to head
with Notre Dame in Miami, but because there are eight
spots different, the committee would not look at those two
on the screen at the same time. I've been through
the selection process the Moca Cup times and they only
can compare three teams at a time. So if it
was ten and twelve, you could put two teams on
the board in their resume and the comparisons between the two,
(30:09):
but you don't when it's all the way from ten
to eighteen.
Speaker 1 (30:13):
That's Chris Budden who exposed the committee. They couldn't compare
two teams despite the fact that one Miami had beat
the other Notre Dame, because they were so separated from
ten to eighteen. They can only compare them between ten
and twelve. Nobody knew this. Nobody knew this. So to
Chris Budden's credit, I don't know if she was supposed
(30:34):
to divulge that, but she did.
Speaker 2 (30:37):
She did. So there's that crazy, absolutely nuts on that nuts. Now.
Speaker 1 (30:47):
Andy Staples has an opinion of the college football rankings.
Speaker 2 (30:53):
I saw on your show.
Speaker 6 (30:55):
You were apoplectic that Miami's that much further down than noted.
Speaker 2 (31:00):
Is that the biggest thing that jumped out to you?
Speaker 4 (31:02):
Yeah, because why'd they bother playing the game if they're
gonna have the same record, And it's not like Notre
Dame's played much better competition than Miami throughout the year.
Speaker 2 (31:11):
They haven't.
Speaker 4 (31:11):
Their their schedules are fairly comparable, and they have the
same record, and they played and Miami won. How in
the world can they be eight spots apart. That makes
no sense at all. That's what bother. I mean, if
you're gonna do that just simulate the whole season on
a computer. Don't even bother playing the games. The results
of the games need to matter at some point.
Speaker 6 (31:30):
How much do you wait what happened recently versus what
happened at the start?
Speaker 4 (31:36):
It all matters ross, It doesn't matter when you played
the like it all matters. Just because you played it
in September. It doesn't give you a mulligan for losing.
Speaker 6 (31:44):
I would agree, But wouldn't you agree if two teams
are ten and two and one of them lost the
first two won the next ten, the other won the
first ten lost the last two, don't you think that
there should be some nod given to the team.
Speaker 2 (32:02):
Team lost the first two.
Speaker 4 (32:04):
Where there's there only two really good games and everybody
else was not very good.
Speaker 2 (32:08):
I think.
Speaker 4 (32:11):
I'm not I love Notre Dame. I love Notre Dame.
We will defend their independence till the day I die. Well
fight anybody who says Notre Dame needs to join a conference.
Speaker 2 (32:19):
I love Notre Dame. I think Notre Dame is a
really good team.
Speaker 4 (32:21):
I think Notre name is probably gonna wind up in
the College football Playoff, mostly because I think Miami's gonna
lose another one along the way, and Notre Dame's not
They're both gonna play Pitt and maybe Pitt beats Miami
and doesn't beat Notre Dame.
Speaker 2 (32:32):
But you got to have results matter.
Speaker 4 (32:35):
You can't just say well, it didn't matter, same record, whatever,
you have the ultimate eviit.
Speaker 2 (32:40):
What if they played well, they played interesting points.
Speaker 1 (32:46):
You know, I don't ever believe in anything where you're
leaving it up to a committee, just like last year
or the March Madness.
Speaker 2 (33:00):
Eight months ago.
Speaker 1 (33:02):
The chairman of committee was from the University of North Carolina,
Bubba Cunningham. North Carolina had no business being in the tournament, Like, oh, well,
he was out of the room when they were talking
about North Carolina getting in the play in game. Okay,
that's like saying, oh, Jeff Bezos was outside the room
(33:23):
when they were voting on something regarding Amazon and what
they're gonna do for quarter four. Stop it. You don't
need to be inside. And by the way, I don't
believe he was outside the room anyway. So all of
(33:45):
this right now is just it's like, it's just BS.
Speaker 2 (33:51):
That's basically what it is. All of it is BS
to me, all of it. I like, let it.
Speaker 1 (33:59):
They need to come up with a formula like the
NFL where these teams make it. Here are the tie breakers,
No committee, just iron clad. That's what needs to be
done and not this bs hey. Well, you know, and
that's another thing. And Staples brought up a great point.
(34:21):
Why play head to head and even schedule tough non
conference games?
Speaker 2 (34:28):
Why do that if it doesn't matter? Why do that?
Speaker 1 (34:33):
All right, we will talk about the life and legacy
of the late great Lenny Wilkins. Xavier McDaniel will join
us coming up, and don't forget hot take money, your
chance to win a platter of boord Said sandwiches. You
can go the free iHeartRadio app. Leave a thirty second
thirty second kind of clip there and just your take
(34:57):
on Lenny Wilkins, the Seahawks, whatever you want, and we'll
open up the phones in an hour at noon right
here on MG and the midday
