Speaker 1 (00:00):
This team.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
Going into the season, their win total, according to Vegas
was seven and a half. They're six and two right now.
That thing is going to be blown away. Six down
and maybe six or seven more to go. What can
you say about this team other than the fact that
they have been dominant? And as we just said, I
(00:22):
call him. I think he's the best football analyst on
the planet. Former NFL player, former front office executive. You
can see him on ESPN all the time. Lewis Riddick
joining us for the first time on MJ in the
midday and Lewis I was just bringing up, how about
those Seattle Seahawks and what you not only last night
but all season. Let's just start with last night, Lewis,
(00:43):
when you think of the twenty twenty five Seattle Seahawks,
what's the first thing that comes to your mind?
Speaker 3 (00:51):
Really just to continued emergence, an ascension of Sam Darnold
as quarterback, what Frank Kubiak has done to take the
success that he had last year in Minnesota and kind
of just turbo charges even more to where you know,
he's just playing out of this world right now. And
connection that he has with Jackson Smith and Jig but
(01:13):
is it's really the story of the NFL. Quite honestly,
in many ways, the passing clinic he put on the
first half last night was freaking spectacular. Been able to
see it firsthand when we were out in Seattle just
two weeks ago, to see them play against the Texans
on Monday night against one of the best defense is
one of the best secondaries involved football. And when you
(01:33):
combine that and really, quite honestly, the secondary story, although
you could probably argue would be the primary story if
it wasn't for the fact that Sam is playing at
an MVP level, you would have to look at this
defense and you know the fact that they are top
five and points allowed, they're number one in yards will
played given up against the run. I mean they've given
up less than three and a half yards for carry,
(01:54):
which is just freaking ridiculous in the way in which
they can rush the passer and take the ball away.
It's good times in Seattle, man, as I'm sure everyone
out there is a kind of happy to.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
See absolutely and last night, and you know what a
lot of people and you know, when John Schneider decided
to zig and then zag and said I'm gonna you know,
go with Sam Darnold over Gino Smith. I'm gonna elevate
JSN to the one and part ways with DK Metcalf,
Tyler Lockett no longer here, Cooper Cup all these things
(02:27):
and Tory Horton, Lewis, Tory Horton was a fifth round
pick and you are the one who's been beaten the
Tory Horton drum for like eight months now, and here
he is. It's all it's all happening right now.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
Yeah. Uh. Look, John has been at this game a
long time, as far as before scouting, acquiring and then
you know, trying to pair these guys up with systems
and processes that can bring out the best of qusted
him when he was with Pete for a long long time.
You know, he was trained in the business by Mike
(03:05):
Holmgren and Ron Wolfe back in his days in Green Bay.
I knew John. I've known John since two thousand when
I first got into scouting. We were both in Washington
together when he was hired by Marty Schottenheimer back then.
And I think, look, he has an eye for talent,
He has a really good staff. And what Mike is
McDonald's doing now and what they have done as far
(03:28):
as making the right moves bringing Sam in, pairing him
with Clint in that system, which look, Jordan Palmer saw
this coming a long time ago, as far as Sam
Darlald was concerned before, when he left Carolina and went
to San Francisco, and no one knew what was gonna
happen with Rock Purdy, no one knew what was going
to happen with Trey Lance at the time. Jordan Palmer
(03:52):
told me in an airport and mobile. He told me,
he said, look, when Sam gets out to San Francisco
and gets in that system, he's going to take off
the surprise of the year. Well, he didn't get a
chance to play because of Brock and his ascension, but
I think once you see how that kind of went
in the system that he needed to be and John
made the right move, made the right call and bringing
him in there. And look, a guy like Tory Horton.
(04:14):
I saw Toy three years ago when Colorado and Colorado
State played out in Boulder in a big time Friday
night matchup that Colorado wound up winning, but Colorado State
took him right down to the wire. And I saw
Toy then, and so I knew what kind of skill
set that he had. Now, you never can tell with
what a guy's going to actually ultimately turn into. But
(04:36):
if you surround him with the right structure and the
right people, at least you give him a chance. Well,
now you see what's happening JSN. All the people at
Ohio State, from the coaches to the quarterbacks would tell
you when he was there with that ridiculous class of
wide receivers that he was with, that he was probably
the one who was the least talked about, but maybe
the most well rounded and best talent overall. And then
(04:58):
you saw how he went off in the Rose Bowl
a couple of years ago. So these are all things
that when you when you kind of go when you
try it, when you start rewinding the tape and you
kind of go back in time, you go, hey, some
of the signs were there. Now you need to obviously,
you need there to be some luck. You need there
to be you know, the player has to do his part.
(05:20):
That's where you have to really do a great job
of assessing the character of the guy. Is he going
to put in the work behind the scenes, Is you
going to always be doing the right things? Well, they
have just hit it time and time again now with
some of these transactions, and we haven't even got over
to the defensive side of the ball, where like, think
about the Marcus Lawrence, Right, this is a guy who
(05:41):
Dallas thought, well, you know what, we can let him go.
He's fine, that's fine, we don't really need the Marcus Lawrence.
Well you listen to the staff in Seattle talk about
the Marcus Lawrence. They talk about him like he's a
thicking madman, like he was exactly what they're looking for.
I mean, how many times have people, you know, looked
at Leonard Williams and said, well, he's expendable. We can
just kind of keep trading him around. He's on a
(06:01):
thirteen and now he's gonna be maybe maybe in contention.
Well he is in contention for defensive Player of the year.
You know, Ernest Jones to Chenna new Roso, these are
all dudes who John has kind of brought into that system,
pairing them with the right kind of coaching where now
(06:23):
they're right in the sweet spot. They are literally like
basically hitting the ball the fat with the fat part
of the bat, and it's just the balls is flying
out of the park. Over and over again, and you
see how long they can they can make it continue.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
Lewis Ridick from ESPN here on MJ in the midday
Seattle Sports Leader ninety three to three KJRFN. We saw
what happened last year and the emergence of Sam Donald
in Minnesota. But everybody looked at it and say, okay,
that was he was just a Kevin O'Connell puppet. We're
seeing now with Clint Kubiak calling the plays that apparently
know Sam Darnald is he's really turning into a franchise quarterback.
(07:00):
What do you think changed besides the fact of getting
away from the Jets, But what do you think changed
for him personally and professionally, Lewis that has turned him
into Dare I say, is Sam Darnold elite?
Speaker 3 (07:15):
Yeah? He is? Well, you watched it in tape last night.
You watched them the touchdown Pasidy through to Elijah. He
fit that into about a six inch by six inch bucks,
So that's pretty damn elite. Just go back and listen
to some of the good quarterback teachers, quarterback gurus, go
back in time and listen to them. Just talk about
(07:37):
Sam's pure throwing ability, and they said, and then people
are on record as saying he can throw the football
as good as anyone who's ever thrown the football. Now,
that's where it starts as far as your physical traits
are concerned. But we all know that high level quarterback
play really is about what's going on between your ears
in terms of your personal confidence, your confidence in the
(07:59):
person who's called and plays, your confidence and the person
who's calling plays to help you when things start going awry,
Your confidence in your quarterback coach, your confidence in your
offensive line, your teammates, your personal life, all of that.
When we just talked to Sam two weeks ago, he
has nothing but a level of comfort and like, I
(08:22):
don't want to say contempting, because that would make me
think that would need you to believe that he's kind
of like Despine with where he's at, because he's not fine.
He's still trying to get better and better, but he's
at a place where all that stuff is in place. Now,
all of it's in place. None of that was in
place in New York, none of that was in place
in Carolina. It could have been in place in San Francisco,
(08:42):
but it wasn't the right spot because Brock was really
he was becoming the guy who nobody thought it was
gonna happen for him in Minnesota the way it did
because JJ got hurt. I mean, well, if JJ doesn't
get hurt, JJ plays that year last year and Sam
doesn't even get in the field, more than likely, so
(09:03):
things have kind of broke the right way for him.
He did all the work behind the scenes. And the
question of is it sustainable, well, hell yeah, it sustainable. Well,
of course the Sam Darnold detractors are gonna go remember
the days back with Adam Gaines in New York. Who
gives the damn about what happened in New York That
was such a dysfunctional, like pile of crap, it doesn't matter.
What he's with now is exactly what you want every
(09:26):
quarterback to be. And when people say, well, if it
wasn't for this woman, you name me a dan quarterback
who we don't talk about in glowing terms that wasn't
in a great situation, namely one that we don't talk about,
who wasn't in a great situation that had nice alignment,
good players around him, and the guy wasn't at a
(09:48):
good place in his personal life. We see when we
do that when we start, it's because you know, like
first of all, a lot of the times when we're
assessing this kind of stuff, we don't know what the
hell we're talking about anyway, so we're just always looking
for ways to blow holes in people and or tear
people down as to why. You know, when when people
go on tears like Sam is on right now, the
(10:10):
detractors are still gonna say, remember what happened last year
at the end of the season in Minnesota. He'll eventually
revert to that Sam. You know, maybe he does have
a bad game, maybe that will maybe something like that
does happen at some point in this season, but it
isn't because the guy is fundamentally flowed. He is a
damn good quarterback who is in a great situation right
(10:30):
now and deserves all the credit in the world for
the work he has put in, because it takes it
takes an army of people for quarterbacks to have success,
and he's got that army with him right now, and
he's doing his part too, and it's beautiful. It's freaking beautiful.
And we can put to numerous different situations where this
is happening with quarterbacks right now. Just look in New England.
(10:52):
Just look at what's happening up there right now. Okay,
look at how different it is what that organization with
Rabel leading to charge, with Josh McDaniel's being the quarterback
right now, it's I mean, doctor Daniel being off at
the coordinator. Just look at how different that looks. So look,
just just be glad that he's in the situation that
(11:13):
he's in and cheer for the kid because he is
doing work right now.
Speaker 1 (11:16):
Man, he really is Lewis Riddick from ESPN.
Speaker 2 (11:20):
So well, put Lewis, would you say, now, I mean,
I I don't think I'm really being hyperbolic.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
Is Sam Darnold an MVP candidate today?
Speaker 3 (11:29):
No question, of course he is. He's a candidate. Now.
The one thing I will say is, when we get
to this time of year, right, we sometimes and look,
I'm in the media too, okay, so I'm not trying
to like absolve myself as anything, but we start having
this MVP candidate conversation like almost obnoxiously too much, you know,
(11:51):
and we're we're basically at, you know, a point in
the season where there's so much left, so much regular
season left to play, that things can change drastically. But look,
Sam is number three in total PBR right now in
the NFL, but behind Dak and behind Lamar and right
on his heels are Patrick, Drake May, Jordan Daniel Jones.
(12:12):
Just a couple of weeks ago, it was well Dan
Daniel Jones is the leader of the MVP race. Last
week it was Jordan loves the MVP and the MVP race.
There was some talk about Drake May may be the
MVP like Dak, Prescott's having one of the best years
of his career. Lamar comes off with injury. Lamar should
be right back in there again. So there's gonna be
a lot, but there's no doubt. You can't exclude Sam
from it. That's for sure. You cannot exclude him. He's
(12:36):
right in there. So just go ahead, and you know,
you can go ahead and trash your preconceived thoughts and
opinions on Sam Donald because they don't apply anymore. They
don't apply. They just don't give him his flowers, give
him his props as he's going through this journey, because
when you talk to the kid, he is in a good,
good place man, and you have to feel good about that.
(12:59):
And I know, I do.
Speaker 2 (13:03):
Lewis Rinick here ESPN on MJ and The Midday a
Seattle sports leader ninety three to three KGRFM. Is this
the best Seahawks defense you've seen since the Legion of
Boom Era.
Speaker 3 (13:15):
Yeah. Look, the Legion was legit. There's no doubt about that.
They could rush the passers. They could rush your brains out.
The secondary where a bunch of monsters. Bobby Wagner with
a monster. But yeah, I mean they're right there. They're
right there as far as being capable of playing and
they are playing championship caliber football here in twenty twenty five.
(13:37):
They've got depth up front, they can come at you
in waves. They're very multiple in terms of the way
in which they can rush you, in terms of the
packages that they can put on the field. The guys
are very multiple in terms of the positions that they
can play. They've got speed and versatility, is smarts in
particular at the linebacker position. The secondary will continue to
(14:02):
have to earn it as we go through the season
and they get into the playoffs and see what they
can do there. And that really, as we know, the
Legion had one of the best secondaries. Well, they were
the best secondary for quite a while. They set the standards.
They set the standard in terms of physicality, being able
(14:22):
to take the ball away, play however you wanted to
play it. And this is fun. It's fun for Seattle.
And as someone who fun. Fact, my very first football game,
pro football game ever, that I ever walked into an
NFL stadium was in nineteen eighty out at old RFK
Stadium in Washington to see the Seahawks play the Washington franchise.
(14:46):
At that time, I've been a Filks stand for bet
Are part of forty two years. So it's cool to
see them back in the national discussion.
Speaker 1 (14:57):
No question.
Speaker 2 (14:58):
And and by the way, how great are when you
saw them at RFK Stadium? How great are the throwback unis?
Can you I really wish? Can we just keep them.
Speaker 1 (15:07):
Period on all the time?
Speaker 2 (15:08):
There's nothing better when hey, when when Tampa came in
here last month, Lewis and they had the throwback game
and you know, Baker Mayfield and they had the Creamsicle
orange with the Bucco Bruce on the helmet.
Speaker 1 (15:21):
That was uniform porn. That was uniform porn.
Speaker 3 (15:24):
Man, no doubt, no doubt. Yeah, I mean that's yeah,
I mean it's it's kind of been pretty cool for me. Man.
It's to see those. But those are the days of
Jim Zorn, Seed Large and Jacob.
Speaker 1 (15:39):
Green, uh, Kenny Easley, But.
Speaker 3 (15:45):
Yeah, I mean these were these are all those were
all the dudes carry justin Keith Simpson. I mean, those
are some great, great, great names. And then getting to
play against them when I was with the Raiders, when
we were all in the West and going up there
to the Kingdom and against Warren Moon and those guys.
I mean, it's cool to see the uniform, to see
(16:06):
those on the screen last night, and kind of because
it just makes you reminiscent, and you know, we're all
we're all in love with the game of football to
some degree and it's been my entire life, and that
that's just what I remember of Seattle. I have a
pair of old I may still haven't at my mom's house.
I still may have a pair of old Seattle Seahawks
sucks like the ones they wore last night. Because my
(16:26):
cousin will Lewis, he was a rookie with the Seahawficers,
an undrafted free agent in nineteen eighty. Wow eighty's that's
twenty twenty five years. That's a little bit more than
that's forty five years. So it's it's been a long
time man that I've been connected to Seattle.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
No question.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
Hey, the trade deadline tomorrow, Lewis, you're a man that
obviously you're the director of front office personnel at the
Philadelphia Eagles. You are part of the great talent evaluation
front office with the Washington at the time they were
called the Redskins, and they and they drafted my former
schoolmate at the you, Sean Taylor. What do the Seahawks
(17:06):
need to do at the deadline tomorrow? I'm gonna throw
a name out there for you, Wyatt Teller Cleveland. Would
he fit in here to just kind of solidify this
old line at right guard? And because the the old
line has been certainly exponentially improved from previous years, would
he be the guy or was there somebody out there
(17:28):
that you think.
Speaker 1 (17:28):
Would fit here better at the trade deadline?
Speaker 3 (17:31):
That makes sense? That makes sense. I mean you always
want to, especially for a guy like Sam who just
looks so comfortable in the pocket, you want to make
sure that it's stayed secure. You want to make sure
that the interior three or rough solid. I don't think
anybody could be disappointed with Gray and the way he's
(17:52):
been and what he's going to be for them at
left guard for the rest of his career, and all
of a sudden him remember when they brought Charlot, when
they drafted Charlost and they drafted a bluncas as well,
because I saw both of those guys in couples that
year when they came out. So I don't think you
can go wrong there. It'll be and you know, maybe
(18:14):
maybe over the next player over the next twenty four
hours to get on the horn with John and see
kind of like what he's thinking. I had a chance
to talk to him down the field a little bit
before their game against Houston, and we're going to do
a whole trade of deadline special on ESPN tomorrow at
three o'clock Eastern, So aw, some more ideas about maybe
what they will do or won't do come then. But
(18:36):
they're in a good spot to thing about it is,
they're not in the spot where they have to, like
where they're pressed to absolutely do something, but they're in
there operating from a position of strength to where they
can kind of be very selective and just trying to fortify. Uh,
it was a pretty damn good roster right.
Speaker 1 (18:54):
Now, before we let you go.
Speaker 2 (18:56):
Where the Seahawks rang for you amongst the NFL's best team,
Where would you put them right now?
Speaker 3 (19:04):
Well, well, and I think overall, but I think you
have to put them up there. They're definitely like in
the top They're in the top five to six for sure.
(19:28):
I mean, yeah, let's just let's just put it there.
I would say the division is going to be the
West is winding up being one of the best in
all football this year with the way the Rams are playing,
(19:49):
and you know, San Francisco is going to be the
hell we'll see howires on the place tonight. And you
know in in the NFC, the Packers are going to
still be formidable. Phillies making talk about team to make
a move at the trade deadline, Philly is always going
to be strong. Tampas showed you what they're capable of.
You just hope that they have enough bodies to make
(20:09):
it right at the end of the year. But they're
right there in the NSC, look, I would be I
wouldn't call to stretch whatsoever to say that Seattle should
be in the NFC title game. They should. They should
be right there, especially at the defense and stay strong
and Sam and Sam can continue playing the way he's playing,
which is basically mistake free, they'll be right there. They'll
be they should be one of the final two playing
(20:32):
to take a trip to Santa Claire this year and
playing that Super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (20:37):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (20:38):
And everybody here in Seattle on the PNW loves to
hear you say that. Let me just say this, Lewis
Ridick is the best football analyst on the planet. And
I can speak being the unsilent majority here in the PNW.
We wish you were on Monday Night football every Monday
night because you do such an excellent job and everything
you do. And I also want to say this too,
Stephen Ross the Titans, you need to hire this man.
(20:58):
You need to make this man your general man, your
your president of football operations, because he can turn your
franchise around big time.
Speaker 1 (21:06):
So uh, and believe me, they know it. They know it.
Speaker 2 (21:10):
So Lewis obviously success. No matter what you choose to do. Uh,
you will be successful. But it would be ESPN and
and the audiences in every NFL football fans loss. But
you certainly should be in that seat getting interviewed on
draft days saying, hey, what did you tell Ruben Bain
what made you pull the trigger on my guy from
(21:32):
the U Ruben bade as the number one pick in
the draft.
Speaker 3 (21:36):
Well, luckily for I'll tell you what. Lucky for me.
It's funny to say that I get to see uh,
I get to see you this Saturday, Lewis, Lewis, we'll
be covering them.
Speaker 1 (21:46):
Oh, Lewis, I am.
Speaker 3 (21:47):
So we'll see how there, We'll see how they're feeling
after you.
Speaker 2 (21:52):
Yeah, there's a lot of broken remote controls in my
household on Saturday after that. Senagan, Hey, lou literally I
appreciate And one more thing too, in a personal note,
everything that you've done to commemorate the memory of my
friend and my former schoolmate, Sean Taylor. It will be
eighteen years at the end of this month, and I
(22:13):
just want you to know how much I appreciate everything
that you've done to commemorate him.
Speaker 1 (22:16):
And there is in a day that goes by my life.
Speaker 2 (22:18):
I mean losing my father and my grandfather and my
grandmother to grandmothers to cancer. Sean Taylor was on that
level for me. Personally when he was taken from us
way too early. So thank you for that.
Speaker 3 (22:30):
Absolutely, absolutely we'll never forget Sean, that's for sure. You can.
I guarantee you that.
Speaker 2 (22:34):
All right, Lewis Rick, thank you so much for joining us.
We really appreciate it.
Speaker 3 (22:38):
You got it. Thanks a lot to have a good one, all.
Speaker 1 (22:40):
Right, you too, Lewis Ritick.
Speaker 2 (22:41):
Here on MJ and the Midday, we'll talk about the
Seattle Seahawks. Just absolute flex statement to the football world
last night that really opened a lot of people's eyes
that you need to take note. This team might be
the best team and the National Football League MJ in
the midday and a month don't go anywhere.
Speaker 1 (23:02):
So we're not talking about last night.
Speaker 2 (23:03):
We're talking about the first eight games, completed seventy percent
of their passes, doing for two thousand plus yards, doing
for fifteen plus touchdowns, and taking fewer than ten sacks.
You ready for the names. Drew Brees in twenty eighteen,
Peyton Manning in two thousand and nine MVP season, and
this guy, well the goat, Tom Brady.
Speaker 3 (23:22):
No.
Speaker 2 (23:23):
Seven of what I think was the greatest team in
NFL history, the seven Patriots. So a lot of things
to say. I will say this first before we get
into the game. Own to thank everybody last night, including
our own Jody in the sales department at Muckleshoot Casino Resort.
(23:43):
It was awesome. Appreciate everybody who came out. We had
a packed house for the game last night. Everybody was
really into it. We had a lot of giveaways with
the Corona Modello KJR stuff, So for those of you
that came out, we appreciated. Cal Musgrove from Seahawks Wire
was there. It was a fun night had by all.
I want to thank the people Trevor Curtis, casino manager
(24:04):
with Muckleshute, Raymond Victoria, Kyla Marshall, all the great people
at Muckleshot Casino Resort and we look forward to being
back out there again when I had my next watch
party two weeks from yesterday against those hated Rams Road
game which will hopefully turn into Luminfield South at Sofi
(24:25):
Stadium in La. Last night, Flex the Ultimate Flex. Everything
that we wanted to see we saw and now thankfully
was able to cast some tickets after last night's game
on JSN. One thing I did lose on he didn't
have a touchdown Nonetheless, we talked about Clint Kubiak distributing
(24:48):
the ball more Tory Horton not one but two touchdown catches.
How about them apples, Elijah Royo, Welcome to the NFL,
my friend. You'll never forget your first bro your first
touchdown catch in the NFL. Welcome to the NFL. It
(25:10):
was just an unbelievable performance by the Seattle Seahawks defense,
dominating best Seattle Seahawks defense that we've seen since the
Legion of Boom, the best that we've seen since. Not
better then, but the best that we've seen since. It's
not just an opinion anymore. That is a fact. And overall,
(25:35):
what can you say? I mean, Sam Darnold most Ridick
just validated it. MVP candidate, he's in the discussion. I'm
not saying he's the front runner. I'm not saying he's
the odds on favorite, but he's certainly in the discussion
with Drake may whoever else you want to throw up there,
do it, Baker Mayfield.
Speaker 1 (25:56):
Fine, he's certainly up there.
Speaker 2 (25:59):
This Seahawks team was just last night, kid, if you
could assess last night's game, and as we see throughout
the course of a season. I measure teams by how
much better they get with progress or how much worse
they get with regression. What did you see last night
(26:22):
of the Seahawks?
Speaker 4 (26:23):
I saw a team that might be the best team
in the NFL.
Speaker 1 (26:28):
Period.
Speaker 4 (26:29):
Those conversations have to come up period. How they do it.
They are missing key players, and they're still going out
in the secondary, that is, and they're still going out
and having their way. And you got to give a
lot of credit to Leonard Williams oh d line And
think about this right when you watched the game yesterday
last night, how many times did Jaden have to use
(26:52):
his legs to create offense for that team?
Speaker 1 (26:55):
It seemed almost every other play.
Speaker 4 (26:57):
The consistency. Now, obviously the Seahawks D line I would
tell you they got to do better and shutting down
those lanes. But when you have the secondary matching and
covering everything so well that your only offense is Jaden
trying to make up for not having receivers, that's a
huge sign of that this defense is really good. This
(27:17):
defense is phenomenal, elite, No doubt, they didn't The commanders
had zero answer for the defense. They couldn't do anything.
Mike McDonald was sending pressures JAYD didn't know what to
do through an interception with to Tayle Katta. Just great football.
And it's not as if this is new he's been doing.
He's They're three to zero on primetime games this season, guys.
Speaker 1 (27:39):
By the way, eleven to one on the road under
Mike McDonald.
Speaker 4 (27:41):
Not to mention, it feels as if they're getting better
with each primetime game. Go back to the first one. Okay,
they won, It wasn't convincing. It was a close game,
right the Arizona Yeah, okay, ye close. They didn't put
it away. The second game, well, there was this.
Speaker 2 (28:00):
There is a stupid penalty by someone in that game
which allowed the other team to get back in. By
the way, I got riek Wuillens back on last night,
should not have been penalized for that. That's that's weak
ish right there. Last point you're gonna say.
Speaker 4 (28:13):
Last point is, as I mentioned, they're getting better with
each primetime game, and they're showing the nation, Yo, you
might want to pay attention to us because we have
something special. And then, as mister Ridick mentioned, Sam donald's
playing really good football. Yeah, you can definitely say, but
what if this happens, yeah, he could have a bad game.
But with this defense, they are more than happy to
(28:35):
put that boulder on their shoulder to say, Sam, you
had a rough day, we got you. Don't you worry,
my friend. Their offense is only going to put up
nine to ten points. We got you. And I think
that's the recipe, which is what Mike McDonald and this
defense talked about going into the season. They want to
be put in situations where maybe Sam doesn't have the
best game, put it on the defense, we will take
(28:57):
care of it. And so far this season they've gotten
better and better, despite putting Julian Love on IR, despite
potentially Josh Jobe missing time, who knows is gonna happen there?
Ernest Shones, I mean that didn't look good last night.
He walked, I sharing on his teammates. That's a sign
that maybe it's a week or two, and you look
(29:18):
at their schedule. I think they will be fine without
Ernest for a week or two. I think they can
manage that. They have a good D line, the guys
are locked in. The secondary is playing really good football.
And then as you mentioned, potential MVP and Sam Darnold,
what more could you ask for. They got a nice
stretch coming up where they got the Cardinals, they got
a test against the Rams. Then you go face the Titans.
I believe I think they easily go to them one.
Speaker 2 (29:39):
There, yeah, even if they go three and oh boy,
get ready. Wow, it's all happening right now. This is
it's a fun, fun time. Also, want to say gruesome
injury last night. Thoughts some prayers with Jaden Daniels that
the human anatomy should never that elbow go in an
opposite direction. I was thankful that he walked off. And
(30:00):
let me just say this for every local and national
sports talk host on the air today killing dan Quinn,
stop it.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
It's cheap. It's a cheap week take.
Speaker 2 (30:11):
Let me tell you today, do you know who is
not going after dan Quinn? And it wanted to be
in that game, Jaden Daniels himself. And I go back
to a quote by the goat himself, Tom Brady, and
they said, why when you're up by forty points do
you never want to come out of the game? He said,
because I never want to show my employer that somebody
(30:34):
else can do my job better than I can. That's
why Jayden Daniels was in the game last night. Okay,
so don't come at dan Quinn today and stop with
that crap. Stop it, just stop it. It's weak and
it's stupid. Okay, dan Quinn doesn't have Nobody has a
crystal ball. Oh, he's gonna get hurt. Display his elbow's
(30:55):
gonna go in the opposite direction. Let me put in Mariota,
nobody has a crystal It happened, Jane and Daniels wanted
to be in the game at that point because he's
one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL period. All right,
coming up next scandal, Uh oh, could be hit another
coach hitting to all fields.
Speaker 1 (31:12):
Don't forgets hot.
Speaker 2 (31:13):
Take Monday your chance to win a platter of Boreshead sandwiches.
All you gotta do is go to the free iHeartRadio
app CE ninety three to three KGr FM microphone icon
button rant away on the Seahawks last night. Did you
derive some sort of enjoyment of the Blue Jays losing
Game seven on Saturday night? One of the most epic
(31:34):
games I've ever seen in my entire life. Whatever you
want to rant about on the weekend, that's there. We'll
give away Hot Take Monday at noon right here on
MJ in the midday. The last guy you want to
(31:55):
be have going against you on any type of scandal
invest getting something in your life personal and professional as
Pablo Torre, and he well, he has something on somebody else,
another sitting current NBA coach who could be involved in
this scandal which is just on the breaking point of exploding.
Speaker 5 (32:19):
I have had the experience reporting these stories where I
can give you chapter and verse on the fact that
ty Lou is a recurring character in this story in
ways that have been not yet disclosed until this episode.
I can tell you that we have footage at the
World Series of Poker in which ty Lou is watching
a friend of his have a great victory while sitting
(32:41):
on the rail the equivalent of courtside at a playoff
game at the World Series of Poker last year, and
the guy who was sitting next to him celebrating their
mutual friendship with this poker player is Damon Jones. I
can tell you that ty Lou is a recurring character
at the Aria High Limit Bar alongside Damon Jones. And
(33:02):
by the way, Damon Jones calls Tylo his best friend
I will give you one guess as to who Tylu
says is his best friend, because it's not Damon Jones.
It is Chauncey Billups. And Tyleru happened to hire both
of those guys to his stabs when he got head
jobs in the NBA. Tyleru also was there at the
April twenty nineteen allegedly rig poker game where Chauncey Billups
(33:23):
was not merely the whale at the table, but, according
to the federal indictment, someone who was cooperating as a
member of the cheating team with effectively some of the
most unsavory characters to occur in the history of sports
and scandal. And so there's that. There's just like that part.
And we requested comment from the Clippers a week ago.
They have not responded to our requests. So that's another
(33:45):
part of it that I think is probably worth mentioning
because we don't know exactly the depth of Tyleru's involvement.
I'd love to continue to find that out, But you know,
I go to accountability, like what does any of this matter?
Speaker 3 (33:57):
You know?
Speaker 5 (33:57):
And I think you need some sort of like actual
thing that puts some accountability into the proceedings.
Speaker 2 (34:03):
Well, that would not be good, Steve Palmer. You already
at the center of an investigation about you allegedly paying
Kawhi Leonard with some fake, fraudulent company, and you got
your potential head coach could also be linked to Chauncey
Billups and Damon Jones. Ah not so fast, all right,
Hot take Monday, Go to the free iHeartRadio app ninety
