Speaker 1 (00:08):
I call him. I think he's the best football analyst
on the planet.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Former NFL player from heer front office executive. You can
see him on ESPN all the time. Lewis Riddick joining
us for the first time on MJ in the midday
and Louis I Away was just bringing up, how about
those Seattle Seahawks and what you not only last night
but all season. Let's just start with last night, Lewis,
when you think of the twenty twenty five Seattle Seahawks,
(00:34):
what's the first thing that comes to your mind?
Speaker 3 (00:36):
Really, just to continued emergence, an ascension of Sam Darnold
as quarterback and what Frank Kubiak has done to take
the success that he had last year in Minnesota and
kind of just turbo charge it even more to where
you know, he's just playing out of this world right now.
And connection that he has with Jackson Smith and Jig
(00:57):
but is just it's really the story of the ENDFL
quite honestly, in many ways, the passing clinic he put
on the first half last night was fricking spectacular. Been
able to see it firsthand when we were out in
Seattle just two weeks ago. To see them play against
the Texans on Monday night against one of the best
defense is one of the best secondaries involved football. And
(01:18):
when you combine that and really, quite honestly, the secondary story,
although you could probably argue it would be the primary
story if it wasn't for the fact that that Sam
is playing at an MVP level. You would have to
look at this defense and you know the fact that
they are top five and points allowed, their number one
in yards will play given up against the run. I
mean they give it up less than three and a
(01:38):
half yards for carry, which is just freaking ridiculous in
the way in which they can rush the passer and
take the ball away. It's good times in Seattle, man,
as I'm sure everyone out there is kind of happy to.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
See absolutely and last night and you know what a
lot of people and you know when John Schneider decided
to zig and then zag and said, I'm gonna, you know,
go with Sam Darnold over Gino Smith. I'm gonna elevate
JSN to the one and part ways with DK Metcalf,
Tyler Lockett no longer here, Cooper Cup all these things
(02:12):
and Tory Horton, Lewis, Tory Horton was a fifth round pick.
And you are the one who's been beaten the Tory
Horton drum for like eight months now, and here he is.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
It's all it's all happening right now.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
Yeah. Uh. Look, John has been at this game a
long time as far as the farest scouting, acquiring and
then you know, trying to pair these guys up with
systems and processes that can bring out the best of
besting them like he was with Pete for a long
long time. You know, he was trained in the business
(02:49):
by Mike Holmgren and Ron Wolf back in his days
in Green Bay. I knew John. I know John since
two thousand when I first got into scouting. We were
both in Washington together when he was hired by Marty
Schottenheimer back then. And I think, look, he has an
eye for talent, He has a really good staff. And
what Mike is McDonald's doing now and what they have
(03:12):
done as far as making the right moves bringing Sam in,
pairing him with Clint in that system, which look, Jordan
Palmer saw this coming a long time ago as far
as Sam Darnald was concerned before when he left Carolina
and went to San Francisco, and no one knew what
was going to happen with Brock Purty, no one knew
what was going to happen with Trey Lance. At the time.
(03:36):
Jordan Palmer told me an airport and mobiles. He told me,
he said, look, when Sam gets out to San Francisco
and gets in that system, he's going to take off.
He'll be the surprise of the year. Well, he didn't
get a chance to play because of Brock and his ascension.
But I think once you see how that kind of
went in the system that he needed to be and
John made the right move, made the right call and
bringing him in there. And look a guy like Tory Horton.
(03:59):
I sawt Tory three years ago when Colorado and Colorado
State played out in Boulder in a big time Friday
night matchup that Colorado wound up winning, but Colorado State
took him right down to the wire. And I saw
Tori then, and so I knew what kind of skill
set that he had. Now, you you never can tell
with what a guy's going to actually ultimately turn into.
(04:21):
But if you surround him with the right structure and
the right people, at least you give him a chance well,
now you see what's happening JSN. All the people at
Ohio State, from the coaches to the quarterbacks would tell
you when he was there with that ridiculous class of
wide receivers that he was with that he was probably
the one who was the least talked about, but maybe
the most well rounded and best talent overall. And then
(04:43):
you saw how he went off in the Rose Bowl
a couple of years ago. So these are all things
that when you when you kind of when you try it,
when you start rewinding the tape and you kind of
go back in time, you go, hey, some of the
signs were there. Now you need to obviously there's to
be some luck. You need there to be. You know,
the player has to do his part. That's where you
(05:05):
have to really do a great job of assessing the
character as the guy. Is he going to put in
the work behind the scenes. Is he going to always
be doing the right things? Well, they have just hit
it time and time again now with some of these transactions,
and we haven't even got over to the defensive side
of the ball, where like think about the Marcus Lawrence, right,
(05:25):
this is a guy who Dallas thought, well, you know what,
we can let him go. He's fine, that's fine. We
don't really need the Marcus Lawrence. Well, you listen to
the staff in Seattle talk about the Marcus Lawrence. They
talk about him like he's a freaking madman, like he
was exactly what they're looking for. I mean, how many
times have people, you know, looked at Leonard Williams he said, Well,
he's expendable. We can just kind of keep trading him around.
(05:46):
He's going his thirteen and now he's gonna be maybe
maybe in contention. Well he is in contention for Defensive
Player of the Year. You know, Ernest Jones, he said
on the roadside, these are all dudes who John has
kind of brought into that system, parent them with the
(06:06):
right kind of coaching for where now they're right in
the sweet spot. They are literally like basically hitting the
ball the fat with the fat part of the bat,
and it's just the ball that is flying out of
the park over and over again. And you see how
long they can they can make it continue.
Speaker 2 (06:21):
Lewis Ridick from ESPN here on MJ in the midday
Seattle Sports Leader ninety three to three KJRFM, we saw
what happened last year in the emergence of Sam Donald
in Minnesota. But everybody looked at it and say, okay,
that was he was just a Kevin O'Connell puppet. We're
seeing now with Clint Kubiak calling the plays that apparently
know Sam Donald is he's really turning into a franchise quarterback.
(06:45):
What do you think changed besides the fact of getting
away from the Jets, But what do you think changed
for him personally and professionally Lewis that has turned him
into Dare I say, is Sam Donald elite?
Speaker 3 (07:00):
Yeah? He is. Well, you watched it in the tape
last night. You watched them the touchdown Pacy through to Elijah.
He fit that into about a six inches by six
inch bucks, So that's pretty damn elite. Just go back
and listen to some of the good quarterback teachers, quarterback gurus,
go back in time and listen to them. Just talk
(07:21):
about Sam's pure throwing ability, and they said, and then
people are on record as saying he can throw the
football as good as anyone who's ever thrown the football. Now,
that's where it starts as far as your physical traits
are concerned. But we all know that high level quarterback
play really is about what's going on between your ears
in terms of your personal confidence, your confidence in the
(07:44):
person who's calling plays, your confidence in the person who's
calling plays to help you when things start going awry,
your confidence in your quarterback coach, your confidence in your
offensive line, your teammates, your personal life.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
All of that.
Speaker 3 (07:58):
When we just talked to Sam two weeks ago, he
has nothing but a level of comfort and like, I
don't want to say contentment because I'm gonna make me
think that would lead you to believe that he's kind
of like this fine with where he's at, because he's
not fine. He's still trying to get better and better,
but he's at a place where all that stuff is
in place. Now, all of it's in place. None of
(08:20):
that was in place in New York. None of that
was in place in Carolina. It could have been in
place in San Francisco, but it wasn't the right spot
because Brock was really he was becoming the guy who
nobody thought that it was gonna happen for him in
Minnesota the way it did. Because JJ got hurt. I mean, well,
if JJ doesn't get hurt, JJ plays that year last
(08:43):
year and Sam doesn't even get on the field more
than likely, so things have kind of broke the right
way for him. He did all the work behind the scenes,
and the question of is it sustainable, well, hell, yeah, sustainable. Well,
of course the Sam Donald detractors are gonna go remember
the days back with Adham Dames in New York. Who
gives the damn about what happened in New York That
was such a dysfunctional, like pile of crap, It doesn't matter.
(09:07):
What he's with now is exactly what you want every
quarterback to be. And when people say, well, if it
wasn't for this woman, you made me a damn quarterback
who we don't talk about in glowing terms that wasn't
in a great situation, made me one that we don't
talk about who wasn't in a great situation that had
(09:29):
nice alignment, good players around him, and the guy wasn't
in a good place in his personal life. We see
when we do that, when we start, it's because you know, like,
first of all, a lot of the times when we're
assessing this kind of stuff, we don't know what the
hell we're talking about anyway, so we're just always looking
for ways to blow holes in people and or tear
people down as to why. You know, when people go
(09:52):
on tears like Sam is on right now, the detractors
are still gonna say, remember what happened last year at
the end of the season in Minnesota. Still they're revert
to that Sam. You know, maybe he does have a
bad game, maybe that will maybe something like that does
happen at some point in the season, but it isn't
because the guy is fundamentally flow. He is a damn
good quarterback who is in a great situation right now
(10:15):
and deserves all the credit in the world for the
work he has put in, because it takes an army
of people for quarterbacks to have success, and he's got
that army with him right now, and he's doing his
part too, and it's beautiful. It's freaking beautiful. And we
can put to numerous different situations where this is happening
with quarterbacks right now. Just look in New England. Just
(10:37):
look at what's happening up there right now. Okay, look
at how different it is for that organization with Brave'll
leading the charge, with Josh McDaniel's being the quarterback right now,
I mean, Dodsterdill being off as the coordinator. Just look
at how different that looks. So look, just just be
glad that he's in the situation that he's in, and
(10:59):
cheer for the kid because he is doing work right now, Man,
he really.
Speaker 1 (11:02):
Is Lewis Riddick from ESPN.
Speaker 2 (11:05):
So well, put Lewis, would you say, now, I mean,
I I don't think I'm really being hyperbolic. Is Sam
Darnold an MVP candidate today?
Speaker 3 (11:14):
No question, of course he is. He's a candidate now.
The one thing I will say is when we get
to this time of year, right, we sometimes and look,
I'm in the media too, okay, so I'm not trying
to absolve myself as anything, but we start having this
MVP candidate conversation like almost obnoxiously too much, you know,
(11:36):
and we're we're basically at, you know, a point in
the season where there's so much left, so much regular
season left to play, that things can change drastically. But look,
Sam is number three in total QBR right now in
the NFL, but behind Dak and behind Lamar and right
on his heels are Patrick Drake, May, Jordan Daniel Jones.
(11:57):
Just a couple of weeks ago, it was well, Dan
John as the leader of the MVP race. Last week
it was Jordan loves the MVP and the MVP race.
There was some talk about Drake may may be the
MVP like Dak Prescott's having one of the best years
of his career. Lamar comes off with injury. Lamar should
be right back in there again. So there's gonna be
a lot, But there's no doubt. You can't exclude Sam
from it. That's for sure. You cannot exclude him. He's
(12:21):
right in there. So just go ahead, and you know,
you can go ahead and trash your preconceived thoughts and
opinions on Sam Donald because they don't apply anymore. They
don't apply. They just don't give him his flowers, give
him his props as he's going through this journey because
when you talk to the game, he is in a good,
good place, man, and you have to feel good about that,
(12:44):
and I know I do.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
Lewis Ridick here ESPN on MJ and The middaycle Sports
Leader ninety three to three KGRFM. Is this the best
Seahawks defense you've seen since the lead egend of Boom Era?
Speaker 3 (13:00):
Yeah, Look, the legion was legit. There's no doubt about
that they could rush the passers, they could rush your
brains out. The secondary where a bunch of monsters. Bobby
Wagner with a monster. But yeah, I mean they're right there.
They're right there as far as being capable of playing
and they are playing championship caliber football here in twenty
(13:21):
twenty five. They've got depth up front, they can come
at you in waves. They're very multiple in terms of
the way in which they can rush you, in terms
of the packages that they can put on the field.
The guys are very multiple in terms of the positions
that they can play. They've got speed and versatility of smarts,
in particular at the linebacker position. The secondary will continue
(13:47):
to have to earn it as we go through the
season and they get into the playoffs and see what
they can do there. And that really, as we know,
the Legion had one of the best secondaries, well they
were the best secondary for quite a while. They set
the standard. They set the standard in terms of physicality,
being able to take the ball away, play it however
(14:09):
you wanted to play it. And this is this is fun.
It's fun for Seattle and as someone who fun fact,
my very first football game, pro football game ever that
I ever walked into an NFL stadium was in nineteen
eighty out at old RFK Stadium in Washington to see
the Seahawks play the Washington franchise at that time. I've
(14:32):
been at SIY Hawks fan for that are part of
forty two years. So it's cool to see them back
in the national discussion.
Speaker 1 (14:42):
No question.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
And by the way, how great are when you saw
them at RFK Stadium? How great are the throwback unis?
Can you I really wish can we just keep them
period on all the time?
Speaker 1 (14:54):
There's nothing better.
Speaker 2 (14:55):
When Hey, when Tampa came in here last month, Lewis
and they had the throwback game and you know Baker
Mayfield and they had the Creamsicle orange with the Bucco
Bruce on the helmet.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
That was uniform porn.
Speaker 3 (15:09):
Uniform porn, man, no doubt, no doubt. Yeah, I mean
that's yeah, I mean it's it's kind of been pretty
cool for me.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
Man.
Speaker 3 (15:17):
It's to see those Those were the days of Jim Zorn,
Steed Large and Jacob Green, Uh, Keith I mean Keith Butler, Yeah,
I mean these were these are all those were all
the dudes carry justin Keith Simpson. I mean, those are
some great, great, great names, and then getting to play
(15:40):
against them when I was with the Raiders and we
were all in the West and going up there to
the Kingdom to play against Warren Moon and those guys.
I mean, it's cool to see the uniform, to see
those on on the screen last night, and kind of
because it just makes you reminiscent, and you know, we're
all we're all in love with the game of football
to some degree, and it's been my entire life. And
(16:02):
that's just what I remember of Seattle. I have a
pair of old I may still have them at my
mom's house. I still may have a pair of old
Seattle Seahawks sucks like the ones they wore last night.
Because my cousin, Well Lewis, he was a rookie with
the Sea Officers, an undrafted free agent in nineteen eighty. Wow,
eighty's that's fun here. Just a little bit more than that.
(16:23):
Forty five years so it's been it's been a long time,
man that I've been connected to Seattle.
Speaker 1 (16:27):
No question. Hey, the trade deadline tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (16:30):
Lewis, you're a man that obviously you are the director
of front office personnel the Philadelphia Eagles. You are part
of the great talent evaluation front office with the Washington
At the time they were called the Redskins, and they
and they drafted my former schoolmate at the you, Sean Taylor.
(16:51):
What do the Seahawks need to do at the deadline tomorrow?
I'm gonna throw a name out there for you, Wyatt
Teller Cleveland. Would he fit in here to just kind
of solidify this old line at right guard? And because
the the old line has been certainly exponentially improved from
previous years, would he be the guy or was there
(17:13):
somebody out there that you think would fit here better
at the trade deadline?
Speaker 3 (17:17):
That makes sense, That makes sense. I mean you always
want to especially for a guy like Sam who just
looks so comfortable in the pocket, you want to make
sure that it's stayed secure. You want to make sure
that the interior three or rough solid. I don't think
anybody could be disappointed with Gray and the way he's
(17:37):
been and what he is going to be for them
at left guard for the rest of his career. And
all of a sudden, remember when they brought Charlote, When
they drafted Charlot and they drafted a Lucas as well.
That's all both of those guys and couples that year
when they came out. So I don't think you can
go wrong there. It'll be interesting, you know, maybe maybe
(18:00):
over the next day, over the next twenty four hours
to get on the horn with John and see kind
of like what do he's thinking. I got a chance
to talk to him down the field a little bit
before their game against Houston, and we're going to do
a whole trade off deadline special on ESPN fromorrow at
three o'clock Eastern, So add some more ideas about maybe
what they will do or won't do to come then.
(18:21):
But they're in a good spot. The thing about it
is they're not in the spot where they have to,
like where they're pressed to absolutely do something, But they're
in there operating from a position of strength to where
they can kind of be very selective and just trying
to fortify h It was a pretty damn good roster.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
Right now before we let you go, Where the Seahawks
rang for you amongst the NFL's best teams, Where would
you put them right now?
Speaker 3 (18:49):
I think you have to put them up there. They're
in the top five or six for sure. I mean, yeah,
let's just put it there. I would say the division
is going to be the West is one end up
being one of the best in all football this year
with the way the Rams are playing, and you know
San Francisco is going to be there. Hell, we'll see
how ares on the place tonight. And you know in
(19:11):
in the NFC, the Packers are going to still be formidable.
Phillies making talk about teams making moves at the trade deadline,
Philly is always going to be strong. Tampa showed you
what they're capable of. You just hope that they have
enough bodies to make the right at the end of
the year. But they're right there. In the NFCO, I
would be. I wouldn't call to stretch whatsoever to say
(19:33):
that Seattle should be in the NFC title game. They should.
They should be right there, especially if the defense and
stays strong and Sam and Sam can continue playing the
way he's playing, which is basically mistake free, They'll be
right there. They'll be they should be one of the
final two playing to take a trip to Santa Clair
(19:53):
this year and playing that Super Bowl. Wow.
Speaker 2 (19:57):
And everybody here in Seattle on the PNW loves to
hear you say that. Let me just say this, Lewis
Ritick is the best football analyst on the planet. And
I can speak being the unsilent majority here in the PNW.
We wish you were on Monday Night football every Monday
night because you do such an excellent job and everything
you do. And I also want to say this too,
Stephen Ross the Titans, you need to hire this man.
(20:18):
You need to make this man your general manager, your
president of football operations, because he can turn your franchise
around big time.
Speaker 1 (20:26):
So and believe me, they know it. They know it.
Speaker 2 (20:30):
So Lewis obviously success. No matter what you choose to do,
you will be successful. But it would be ESPN and
the audiences and every NFL football fans loss. But you
certainly should be in that seat getting interviewed on draft
days saying, hey, what did you tell Ruben Bain, what
(20:50):
made you pull the trigger on my guy from the
U Ruben bade as the number one pick in the draft.
Speaker 3 (20:57):
Well, luckily for I'll tell you what. Good lucky for me.
It's funny to say that I get to see I
get to see to you this Saturday. Oh Louis and
Lewis we'll be covering them.
Speaker 1 (21:08):
Oh, Louis, I am so we'll.
Speaker 3 (21:11):
We'll see how they're feeling after you.
Speaker 2 (21:14):
Yeah, there's a lot of broken remote controls in my
household on Saturday after that. Sen again, Hey, Lewis, literally
I appreciate and one more thing to in a personal note,
everything that you've done to commemorate the memory of my
friend and my former schoolmate, Sean Taylor. It will be
eighteen years at the end of this month, and I
(21:35):
just want you to know how much I appreciate everything
that you've done to commemorate him. And there isn't a
day that goes by my life. I mean, losing my
father and my grandfather and my grandmother to grandmothers to cancer.
Sean Taylor was on that level for me personally when
he was taken from us way too early.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
So thank you for that.
Speaker 3 (21:52):
Absolutely. Absolutely, we'll never forget Sean, that's for sure, you can.
I guarantee you that.
Speaker 1 (21:56):
All right, Lewis Rick, thank you so much for joining us.
We really appreciate it.
Speaker 3 (22:00):
You got it. Thanks a lot to have a good one,
all right.
Speaker 1 (22:02):
You too, Lewis Ridick.
Speaker 2 (22:03):
Here on MJ in the midday, we'll talk about the
Seattle Seahawks. Just absolute flex statement to the football world
last night that really opened a lot of people's eyes
that you need to take note. This team might be
the best team in the National Football League.
Speaker 4 (22:22):
From the R and R Foundation Specialist Broadcast Studio. Now
back to MJ in the midday on your home for
the Huskies cracking and the twelfth Man Sports Radio ninety
three point three KJR FM.
Speaker 1 (22:39):
All right, what do you say?
Speaker 2 (22:40):
Text of the day, Thanks to Patrick and bor said
Borce said, craft since nineteen oh five for dropping by
the great sandwiches. I will tell you the MJ specials
went quickly, the Honting maple ham, Swiss Tomato, green Peppers,
Manny's and spicy Mustard. So those went. They were all
gone in no time. So we appreciate Pat and everybody.
(23:01):
All right, kid, uh, this is why I want Balmer
as an NBA owner. If you ain't cheating, you ain't
trying don in Centralia.
Speaker 5 (23:10):
That's one way to look at Yeah, all right, here
we go.
Speaker 6 (23:15):
Lewis Riddick comes across as a balanced dude with a great,
a good perspective.
Speaker 5 (23:21):
How was he at ESPN? Question Mark laughing out loud.
Speaker 1 (23:25):
Yeah, he is.
Speaker 2 (23:26):
He is, Oh, this is nice, MJ. You're no longer
an East Coast man. You are now a Seattle man.
My god man. One good game and we're super Bowl bound.
This is how it is every year at this team.
Funny so funny. Welcome Seattle.
Speaker 3 (23:39):
MJ.
Speaker 6 (23:42):
Balmer is definitely worth two first degree philony fraud for compensation.
Speaker 1 (23:47):
Ah yeah yeah.
Speaker 2 (23:50):
Uh oh yeah. Amen to whomever this guest is that's
speaking right now. He's one hundred percent correct about Sam
Darnold and that would be Lewis Riddick.
Speaker 6 (24:01):
Reagan, Sauce not comparable? Am I missing something? What is
Sauce Gardner every accomplished? Especially since his rookie season.
Speaker 1 (24:11):
That's the thing.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
Who's rookie in his second year? His rookie in his
second year? They just you know, I don't he just
has I don't know. You got the Jet And by
the way, listen to this. The Jets also got a
first rounder in twenty twenty seven and a second rounder
in twenty twenty six for Quinn Williams. And listen, They've
(24:34):
got now five first round picks in the next two drafts.
The Jets do that is insane. Two in the first
round in twenty twenty six and two in the second round,
and they've got three in the first round in twenty
twenty seven. It's crazy, man, but that's hey. Listen, they
fire sale, they know what they're doing. They have some
(24:55):
quality talent to be able to do it. Let's go
you here and see. Uh let me see uh Yeah,
Reeked in Sauce aren't comparable. But Dave Roberts as Sauce,
am I missing something? What is Sauce Gardner ever accomplished?
Especially since rookie.
Speaker 6 (25:13):
Year kubiek loves himself some Saints wide receivers mvs and
now shaheat.
Speaker 5 (25:21):
Can we potentially get Olave? Please?
Speaker 2 (25:24):
Mm oh the guy that tweeted about text it and
about Reek in Sauce, you said, go ahead and make
fun of me all you want. But that's not what
I said. I said comparable as in career height length,
not draft picks wise. I see how that was taken.
That's not what I was saying. Rise and fall. Sauce
had stays with has stayed with expectations more than Reeke.
I don't think Sauce was worth two first. I know
(25:46):
you won't even get a third for Reek. Okay, you're right.
You're right on that one.
Speaker 6 (25:51):
Uh. Please, John Schneider get the Seahawks an upgrade at
right guard.
Speaker 1 (25:56):
Go Seahawks, seriously, seriously, my lord.
Speaker 2 (26:01):
Uh handed to the Jets mj first rounder for Jamal
Adams five years ago and now caught the Colts slipping
on some of Grandpa's homemade sauce to give up two
first rounders for the sauce.
Speaker 1 (26:14):
Good for you, pathetic Jets.
Speaker 6 (26:18):
The Seahawks need to consider linebacker Jordan Brooks from Miami.
I don't think we need a kicker. We are going
to be in close games. We'd like to go get
Nick Folk. Hang on, we don't need a The Seagers
don't get a kicker right now. Jason Myers, Yeah, he's seven,
but he's fine. He's it's not He's not the reason
the Stars are losing games. Okay, let's they lost too.
(26:41):
I guess you could probably any who. Myers is fine,
pumped the brakes, He's fine.
Speaker 2 (26:47):
Yeah, this guy text in, I'm the dumb ass. I
predicted the Seahawks to get seven wins. Needless to say,
I'm still in the game, brother, Not for long.
Speaker 1 (26:55):
Not for long.
Speaker 6 (26:55):
I predicted ten wins, but they're probably going to get eleven,
eleven or twelve. Yeah, okay, based on the Seahawks linebacker depth,
I would have grabbed Wilson for a seventh then Hendrickson.
I don't just like adding to the offense, especially speed,
but the defense has been the best part for the
Seahawks and the d line is looking way better.
Speaker 2 (27:20):
All right, Yeah, yeah, calm down, bro. They have played
a cake schedule. They are good at beating bottom feeders
or teams decimated by injury.
Speaker 1 (27:27):
What is he talking about the Seahawks.
Speaker 6 (27:30):
I mean, well, first of all, they decimated a team
that they're supposed to decimate with injuries.
Speaker 5 (27:36):
That's what it's supposed to look like. That's where they
wanted to be a close game.
Speaker 6 (27:39):
I don't think so that would give you issues that
the seas have had prior to Mike McDonald taking the
head coaching role, not beating the teams are supposed to.
Speaker 5 (27:49):
Yes, I get it.
Speaker 6 (27:50):
Two years ago against the Giants m McDonald's head coach.
They lost that game, but those teams are not having
those same issues.
Speaker 5 (27:57):
Yeah, they're and weak.
Speaker 6 (27:59):
I think it was Week three against the Cardinals that
wasn't a really good team, but that same Seahawks team
from then to.
Speaker 5 (28:06):
Now is way different.
Speaker 6 (28:08):
I wouldn't be surprised if the Seahawks are a seven
point favorite right now.
Speaker 5 (28:12):
For a home game.
Speaker 6 (28:13):
Ooh, I like having looked yet, but I'm going to
bet they're probably seven points.
Speaker 5 (28:17):
If you go look to see what the spread is.
Speaker 6 (28:19):
I'm guessing the Seahawks are minus seven right now.
Speaker 2 (28:24):
Morning and day drinking is the best. I don't know
what that guy was talking about, because oh, he was
saying that one guy was saying about Jay Glazer and
that Jay Glazer that you know, we were talking about
Jay Glazer not breaking any stories anymore. He hasn't broke
one in a long time. I don't even remember the
(28:44):
last time he's broke one. He just talks about stories
that are broken when he actually used to break them
a long time ago.
Speaker 1 (28:50):
But it's been a minute.
Speaker 6 (28:53):
Just what the Jets need more high draft picks so
they can ruin more players careers.
Speaker 1 (28:59):
That's tough.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
Oh, I know, I know, I know that's the yeah,
But you know what, kid, it's it is what it is. Hey,
please John Schneider, get us an upgrade right guard.
Speaker 1 (29:14):
Go Seahawks. Well he's got.
Speaker 2 (29:15):
Twenty three minutes to do it, twenty three minutes to
do it.
Speaker 5 (29:20):
MJ. I'm curious, Well the songs ever return? Question mark?
Question mark question mark.
Speaker 1 (29:27):
I don't even know at this point. I can't even
say yes if they'll ever return.
Speaker 3 (29:31):
I don't.
Speaker 1 (29:31):
I really can't. I really can't.
Speaker 2 (29:34):
The irony of two guys quote making a deal, meaning
me and you kid, who have absolutely no saying the matter.
Oh well, it's hilarious to listen to you guys just
pull ish out of the air and talk about it
like you're gonna get it done. Well, I can tell
you what I probably wouldn't have done. We wouldn't have
given up a fourth and a fifth rounder for Rashichi.
He that's too much. A fifth rounder would suffice. What
(29:54):
is he referring to, though, I because you and I
were talking about doing what all, uh boy, a mafe
and a and a pick to get I think it
was Trey Hendrickson.
Speaker 6 (30:07):
Okay, so that's what he was referring. Well, we gotta
have a discussion about it. Sorry, you might not agree
with it, right, that's fine, exactly. This is a last
one for me. Meyer scares the crap out of me
from forty in in take it a four two five
oo sah yeah, deep breath in and out you'll be okay.
Speaker 1 (30:29):
Chemistry is the key.
Speaker 2 (30:30):
With the old line y teller shouts locker room issues
with past transgressions. That's not a part of McDonald's playbook.
Ass DK all right, fair enough, and John Schneider please
call to Bloto and signed Josh Naylor today. Yeah, Josh
Naylor would be the one that needs to be resigned
(30:51):
more than anybody. Anyone, all right, that's to what you say.
Texts of the Day brought to you by Bor, said Bor,
said Craft. Since ninete oh five things to pay from
Donovan's provision in Delhi, the number one distributor of Boor
said in the Pacific Northwest, come back cross talk with
the mayor Ian Furdest next.
Speaker 1 (31:15):
All right, thanks to Hugh Millen for joining us.
Speaker 2 (31:16):
The more and more after I got a chance to
digest the Boor Said sandwich, especially the m J special.
The more and more I thought about and think about
the Rashid Si heat trade. I don't like giving up
a fourth and a fifth round pick Ian Furness is
coming up next, and the compensation seems a little a
little much for Rashid shi Heat a fifth round pick.
Speaker 1 (31:40):
I'm okay with it.
Speaker 2 (31:41):
And by the way, a fourth and a fifth round
pick ian for in the same draft next April for
a guy who's a free.
Speaker 1 (31:50):
Agent at the end of the season. Right, But they've
done that before, Leonard Williams, And then, okay, you know
they've done that before with guys, so that's not I
don't think that's it. Like if he, if he, I
think their thought would be, if he's good, this this
how they operate with Williams is one other guy who's
the other guy's Williams recently anyway, I know Letter was
one of those guys that they operate with. If you
(32:14):
prove to be a guy that they like, is good
in the building, works in all those things, then what
you end up doing is you resign him, and if not,
then you let him go. But Leonard Williams is a
great example of that and a fit, yes, culture, all
those things. The compensation. I'm kind of with you and
I heard you. We're gonnactually play a little clip the
(32:35):
first part when you ask Heugh about the trade, and
in a stunning development, he's already broken down every snap
that he's had this year.
Speaker 3 (32:43):
God, I love him.
Speaker 1 (32:44):
He is because of the first thing I thought of
when I heard I was like, Okay, what does you
think about it? Oh, Mark's got him on. Let's and
we'll find out. And you know, I I is a
cautionary tale. Hu's the answer. We'll play that coming up
at one. But does it say something about Cooper cup
his injury? Does it say something about Clinton? Kubiak thinks
there's more to this guy than than meets Yeah, because
(33:06):
the compensation is certainly more than what they invested in
Marquez Valdez scantly. Yes, so that investment wasn't big, but
this one they got three million guaranteed though. But but yeah,
they had salary cap. Yeah, let's let's all. We always
remember the NFL. They don't care about money. They care
about storry cap. Yeah, right right, and they have tons
of room in the caps they do. They don't care. Uh, Joey,
(33:28):
you're gonna pay this kind of go away? Okay, whatever
the uh. But this one's investment, like you said, Mark,
because it's two draft picks that are mid round picks
that Seattle's had and Schneider specifically has had damn good
success with. Yeah, Tory Horten was a fifthound pick. Yes,
he was recently, so, I mean, you know, you know,
and I think, hell was it par our third round pick? Anyway,
(33:48):
it's I would I would say, let's see what why
it shakes out? Why it does? You know how it
shakes out? And maybe this guy is something. I like it.
I mean they had an offensive guard. We all know that.
But in the meantime, if you got better today, he's
he's better than Drek Young probably.
Speaker 2 (34:05):
And who And I'm looking at what other teams that
are Super Bowl contenders other than the Colts who are
in a different conference made moves today.
Speaker 1 (34:12):
Nobody? Yeah, Rams made one yesterday, right, but it's kind
of nothing.
Speaker 2 (34:16):
Burgers, Yeah, that wasn't really big, you know, Raven Like
nobody that is competing with the Seahawks in the NFC.
I'm surprised that the forty nine ers the Rams, they
just stood pat forty.
Speaker 1 (34:28):
Nine ers a a weird We got lund on it too.
Today are an interesting spot because they just keep having
more and more injuries. You know, Mickall Williams or whatever
his name is. Now their first run picks out. So,
by the way, can we talk Borshead for a second. Yeah,
smokes man, like your guy comes in. Yeah, big shout
out to them, Patrick Donovan, dude, man bat Patrick is
the dude. I'm I'm a big big fan. The Buffalo
(34:50):
Chicken sliders. Yeah, I didn't try one day. Good sensational
roast beef with horse radish, can't go wrong.
Speaker 2 (34:57):
You wow, you and I I would try the Buffalo
chicken sliders though, next time.
Speaker 1 (35:01):
They're good. They were good, sensational, fantastic. Wow. Yeah, Okay,
I guess Kroger store stores, right, QFC, fred Mar's where
you get yeah bars and so. Yeah, they are. I
think I think he's I'm I gotta get out there.
I shop at fred Maer. I gotta go get my
boys head now because those guys are phenomenal. They are.
That food is at the Sandwich fantastic. Thanks Patrick, Patrick,
come back tomorrow and the next day the next day.
(35:22):
Well you you said it funny when when he first
started coming here, like, just give him a key card. Yeah,
give him key cards him, just let him get access.
You want to show up, Come on in, buddy, Yeah,
come on and Patrick, You're always welcome here, my man.
I know you got to go cruise around to your
real job, like, you know, take care of UFC and stuff.
But come see us, baby.
Speaker 2 (35:40):
But that's why we give away a plotter of board,
said Sandwiches on Hot Take Monday.
Speaker 1 (35:43):
You want to give back to the people. What a
fake name? So I can win one.
Speaker 2 (35:46):
Yeah, that's what I'm gonna do. Yeah, Taken, here's j
I agree with you, then you know that will get
me a win if I agree with you, Hey, don't
pick the Miami Hurricanes to win again.
Speaker 1 (36:00):
I was gonna bust your chops on that one.
Speaker 3 (36:02):
Man.
Speaker 1 (36:02):
I'll take first of all. Mario, Yeah, not only did
you not cover, you lose the game? Yeah, like really
to smu, I know ten and a half point fig
six double digit losses in since Mario Chris Baal took
over in twenty twenty two, four since last year, so
their record double digit losses is a favorite. Their record
(36:22):
in November under crystal ball, isn't it?
Speaker 3 (36:26):
Like? Is it?
Speaker 1 (36:27):
I want to say like five and eleven the last
two years.
Speaker 2 (36:31):
That would sound actually decent, but it's like seven or
eight games under five hundred the winning percentage goes down
to below five hundred eight, and even.
Speaker 1 (36:38):
The November is the key. November first for him is
the key and I wasn't smart enough to look at
that number. Yeah, yeah, I just assume that the better
team would win. I know, why would I think that
in college football? And what do you got coming up?
John one? John London two o'clock. So we'll gotta go
through the stuff with the trade deadlines at one. You
know how's trade deadlines work. Stuff'll trickle in after one o'clock.
So we'll get London one, and then I'm gonna play
(37:00):
little clip from Hugh when you asked them if you
loved it, hated it, or on his on the draft
or on the Rashid trade trade. And then we'll also
get our kooks guys on today we got m Crystal Bruce,
Alex Brink. And I'll tell you right now, I ain't happy,
and a lot of Kook fans aren't happy. So well,
I'm gonna just brink. What the hell?
Speaker 3 (37:17):
Man?
Speaker 1 (37:17):
I like? Play so well? At Ole Miss in Virginia,
they got an offensive coordinator problem or an offensive plot.
It's an offensive problem. And I'm gonna hear, We're gonna hear.
I'm sure, Oh the offensive line is banged up. I
don't know, Man, find the weight room get bigger, get stronger,
be better. It's it's the college football. It's develop offensive
lineman mm hm. Develop them.
Speaker 3 (37:39):
That's it.
Speaker 1 (37:39):
And you can try to buy them like ls you did.
That's gonna work. So we'll talk to you. We'll talk
to those guys about what's going The defense is elite.
I mean, the defensive.
Speaker 2 (37:45):
Defense should have been Old miss in Virginia on the road, Dan,
you should have done it.
Speaker 1 (37:49):
Hi.
Speaker 2 (37:50):
Thanks to Patrick and bar Yeah tat Patrick. We really
appreciate everything that you do. Donovan's provision in Deli. Thanks
to Christopher kid Jack from Wazoo. Appreciate you stopping. Buy
good luck in your bright future, and we will see
you tomorrow right here on MJ in the midday
