Speaker 1 (00:00):
And he got home.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Well, the heat didn't land until five eleven in the morning,
but the blaze broke out around four point thirty a m.
The home was unoccupied, so no one was hurt or killed, thankfully,
but that's crazy, and his home was burned to rubble,
(00:24):
five bedroom home, which he purchased in December twenty twenty three.
I I one word in my opinion. I don't know,
we'll find out, but I have one word, Arson, How
does something like that happen? Why would something like that
happen out of nowhere at four thirty in the morning.
(00:44):
No other houses were burned, And obviously the investigators will
do that's a that's an interesting story, and it was
reduced to charred rubble. He probably had all of his
NBA Championship rings in there, probably had his NBA trophies
that he won in twenty twelve and twenty thirteen, everything
(01:09):
that he ever, you know, his worldly possessions. I mean,
the good news say is that nobody was in the house,
nobody was hurt, and thankfully nobody was killed.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
But that just seems sketch, very very sketch.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
And then the story, as I just mentioned in headlines,
very bizarre story. Cowboys backup defensive end Marshawn neelan second
round pick last year, scored the block punt touchdown Monday
night versus the Arizona Cardinals in a loss.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
I'm like, well, that's crazy. Nobody.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
Twenty four years old's dying of natural causes. He was
involved in a police chase last night when officers tried
to pull him over and he took off. He lost
police got away. Police later found the car crashed, They
searched the area, and he killed himself.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
With a gun at twenty four years old.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
There is a statement out there by the Frisco, Texas
Police Department so and they wrote, quote, a man was
found to seize from an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound
following an outside agency vehicle pursuit that led to a
multi agency search in Frisco, and at approximately ten thirty
(02:25):
nine pm, the Frisco Police Department responded to assist the
Texas Department of Public Safety with locating a vehicle that
evaded troopers during a pursuit that entered the city of Frisco.
After losing visual of a vehicle, troopers located a minutes
later crashed on southbound Dallas Parkway near Warren Parkway. Initial
reports indicated that a male subject later identified as twenty
(02:48):
four year old Marshawn kneel In of Plano, Texas, fled
the scene on foot, and officers established a perimeter and
initiated search of the area with the assistance of FPDK
nine and drone units. In the course of the search,
officers received information that Neilan had expressed suicidal ideations. Neiland
was later located at one thirty one am deceased with
(03:10):
what appeared to be a self inflicted gunshot wound. The cause, slash,
manner of death will be determined by the call Yer
County Colin County Medical Examiner's Offenses. This time, no further
details will be released as the investigation remains ongoing. Heartfelt
(03:33):
condolences to the Niland family and friends. Life is fragile, folks.
It is Sky. Just played Monday night football. Score it
a touchdown on a block punt, and it's just fragile.
Hate to start the show on a really somber note.
Those kind of stories just kind of freak me out,
(03:54):
but it just goes to show you there's no guarantee
for tomorrow and there's no guarantee even for later today.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
So we all should think our lucky stars.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
Every day above ground is a blessing and a privilege
no matter how bad life gets at times. And believe me,
we all have problems a lot. You know, some people
worse than others, but it can get that way. So anyway,
nowhere to go from there. But I started to think
about after the trade deadline on Tuesday or actually, excuse me, yeah, Tuesday,
(04:34):
and I started to look at the course of every
team in the NFL. And I started to look at
not only in twenty twenty five, but beyond beyond twenty
twenty five. And I you know, we always do this
(04:56):
inherently as humans, right we always kind of say, oh,
if I only had that, if I for me, my
life I feel would be perfect. That if I had
my dream girl. Her name is Susie Cortes. She u's
(05:17):
one uh name, Miss Bumbum of Mexico. You can look
at her Instagram profile. I think that my life would
be so much better if I is Susie Cortes, was
missus Susie Cortes James, my life would be so much better,
absolutely better, right, But we always look at Oh, man,
(05:40):
if I just had what that guy or this guy, this,
that and the other, I always think about that, and
my life would be very happier. I'd probably probably drive
me crazy, because you know, when you're kid, you ever
familiar with her, You ever seen her before?
Speaker 3 (05:57):
I have not known.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
Oh, by the way, she's a self professed groupie for
Linal Messi. Okay, one of the world's greatest soccer players
of all time. She actually, if you look at her Instagram,
she wears shirts. She did a spray paint body thing
of a messy jersey and her and Messi's wife blocked
(06:22):
her from being able to DM him because she was
doing the thirst trap thing. And do you see what
I'm talking about. Susie Cortes, Oh my lord hoive oh
oh it just just please oh. I would make her
(06:46):
so happy, and I know she would make me even happier.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
That would just be beautiful.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
Life would be so much better if Susie Cortez was
was yours truly significant other. There'd be a lot of
days she you know, if I got to wake up
next to that in bed every day, therebe days she'd
be like, you know, I don't want you to go into work.
But honey, I just love what I do for a living,
and I, uh, you know I would. Basically, she probably
(07:14):
convinced me to not get up and do a show
every day. I think she could definitely convince me to
not do that. But uh yes, Susie Cortes. Her instagram
is Suzie s u z Y Cortes c R T
e Z official, but there's only one f in official.
She's got two million followers. And you'll know what I
(07:35):
mean when you get there. You'll know what I mean.
Imagine being like to me to be an athlete and
to have someone I don't care if she's famous or
not that looks like that as as a groupie of
yours and a huge fan and is posting constantly on
Instagram how much she wants you and and kudos to MESSI,
(08:00):
you are a better man than I. I don't know
any man that could resist that, married or not, I
just don't know.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
I just don't know, kid.
Speaker 2 (08:11):
I'm not going to put you in that position, but
I know I couldn't resist that if I was married.
I'll just speak for the rest of mankind. That is
a different level that wow.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
All I can say is well, but I would be
so much happier and oh my life would be so
much better.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
So how I bring this back to sports?
Speaker 2 (08:32):
After Yeah, that's a definite distraction if there ever was one.
But that being said, I start to look at the
landscape of the National Football League and I look at this,
what franchises are in a better position to succeed not
(08:53):
only this year but in the future than the Seattle Seahawks.
And I came up with some kid might disagree, but
I'm gonna go through my list first, the Canca Chiefs, Mahomes, Reid,
doesn't matter. As long as you have those two, they
are in a position to succeed as good, if not
(09:16):
better than the Seattle Seahawks going forward. They have a
guy who's already won three Super Bowls before the age
of twenty eight. He's been a five of them. I
mean that goes without saying. Philadelphia Eagles reigning defending Super
Bowl champions, no argument there. I'll even say the Chargers.
They got the coach, they got the quarterback. And you
(09:38):
know it's not like Darnold is that much significantly older
than Herbert, but I would say Herbert's better. And Jim
Harbaugh he's been to a Super Bowl before with a
quarterback by the name of Colin Kaepernick. So I'll give
the Chargers. I'll say at least it's even, but I
feel that the Seahawks have better management. But I can
(10:01):
at least give you the Chargers. Denver Broncos younger, not
too much younger, even bo Dix say, exactly a spring chicken,
spent five years in college. Okay, but they got the coach,
they've got the defense. He's twenty five, he's twenty five.
So there's four teams right there in the AFC that
(10:23):
I can see right there. They're in better standing. Like
it's not four. I'm not gonna go the Bills, and
I'll tell you why they don't have a defense.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
They don't have a defense.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
And John Schneider is ten times better than their general manager,
Brandon Bean.
Speaker 1 (10:42):
And I know this because I had a personal.
Speaker 2 (10:46):
Situation with Brandon Bean when he was an assistant with
the Carolina Panthers about thirteen fourteen years ago at training camp.
John Sneuier is much better than Brandon Bean. So I'm
not gonna say Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens. No, they don't
have a defense.
Speaker 1 (11:02):
You can't.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
It's one thing to have Lamar Jackson and have a
two time MVP. They don't have a defense period. They
don't have a defense. So no, no, So what have
we got so far? We've got the Broncos, the Chargers
and the Chiefs, the Eagles. I'll even give you the
(11:23):
Detroit Lions.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
I'll give you the Lions, even.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
Though their defense is really banged up the system, They've
got better talent offensively. I mean, come on, let's be
real here, like GoF even if you think that goth
and Darnold are a coin flip, which I could go
for that arsb Jamison Williams, Jamiir Gibbs, David Montgomery, and
(11:49):
Sam laporta stop. So I'll give Detroit two. Okay, so
we got three in the AFC. We've got the Eagles
and the Lions. How about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Arguably,
I'll say yes because I think that Baker Makefield is
better quarterback than Sam Darnald, even though Sam Donald might
(12:12):
be better at this instant, I'll go with the Bucks. Plus,
they have a general manager that is one of the
best in the business, as good, if not better than
John Schneider and Jason Light. Now let's get to the West.
Not the San Francisco forty nine Ers. I'm sorry, no way.
They get hurt a lot. But besides that, I don't
think brock Perdy, I don't trust him long term. McCaffrey's
(12:37):
always banged up. Oh he's healthy this year. But I
don't feel that the forty nine Ers are in a
better position to succeed going forward than the Seattle Seahawks.
So now comes down to one more team, the LA Rams,
and call me a homer whatever you want, I'm gonna
(12:57):
say that going forward, the Seahawks are in a better
position to succeed than the Rams because I think this
could be Matthew Stafford's final year in the league, and
I don't know how much more he has. So now,
you could have thrown Green Bay in there, I don't
think so. No, they're not in a better position to
succeed than Seattle Seahawks. They're just not. And again, what
(13:19):
am I looking at. I'm looking at what you have
now and what you will have going forward. Sam Donald
is what twenty eight years old? I mean, he's just
scratching the surface on the prime of his career. It's
(13:39):
twenty eight. He turned twenty eight on June fifth. You
got JSN who's just showing that he's a wide receiver,
one in his first year to do so. So oh
oh oh, I forgot one more. But I don't trust
their GM. But you could make in our you meant
(14:01):
that the New England Patriots because the defense.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
And the coach. They got a good one too.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
Now, I mean, I love Mike McDonald, but Mike Rabel
he's been in the playoffs. He won a playoff game
with Ryan Tannehill. That's all you need to know. And
Drake May, Drake May is him right now, and a
lot of people are talking about Drake May being the
NFL MVP. Do I think the Seahawks are in a
(14:29):
better position to succeed overall, because overall I'm gonna and
I'll say, but you gotta remember there's a youth movement
right now. There's there's a youth movement in the sense
that Drake May is younger than Sam Darnold, and they
got their coach, Elliott Wolf. The I believe he's the
(14:51):
son of Ron Wolf, the former GM of the Packers.
He's doing a great job there. So I just went
through the league right now, and the Patriots I can't
even go there because I got to see a larger
sample size. But I went Broncos, Chargers, Chiefs, Eagles, Lions,
(15:12):
Bucks at six. That's six. You can make arimans for
other teams. Kid, tell me what you got. Maybe you
disagree with some of those. Who would you put like
we're talking about succeeding in twenty twenty six for the
window a window, I'm talking the next four to five years.
(15:34):
Who's in a better position. And by the way, you noticed,
I didn't even mention the Colts. They're a mirage. Stop it,
Daniel Jones. Wait till he turns into Giants. Jones, who
would you say?
Speaker 4 (15:44):
I got about thirty seconds here, so I'll go ahead
and go Eagles.
Speaker 3 (15:49):
I think the Bears have something.
Speaker 2 (15:51):
They don't have a defense, no defense, but they do
have something. You know that, Caleb will I can't trust
them right now?
Speaker 3 (15:58):
Okay, Eagless Bucks, that's about oh h that's all.
Speaker 1 (16:07):
They have draft picks.
Speaker 4 (16:08):
But when you have two first round draft picks, the
future looks pretty bright for the Rams.
Speaker 1 (16:12):
They do they do.
Speaker 4 (16:14):
Easily if the quarterback class is good, assuming someone is AnyWho.
Speaker 1 (16:19):
And mcveigh's the quarterback.
Speaker 3 (16:20):
Whisper, I'll put them in there.
Speaker 1 (16:22):
I could see that.
Speaker 2 (16:23):
How about the AFC AFC. Baltimore has no defense. You
can't just get a defense.
Speaker 4 (16:29):
But you can draft, you can get guys to the
draft might but then Schnyder has been able to do right.
Speaker 2 (16:34):
But and Eric's cause, but they just like it's it's
tougher to they can draft, but then you have to
put a system together, and.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
Right now they don't have a freaking defense.
Speaker 3 (16:44):
Well how long did it take Mike McDonald to get
things going? A year?
Speaker 4 (16:47):
Because Mike McDonald, Well, you know the thing is, Baltimore
can easily go from.
Speaker 2 (16:53):
All right, by the way, I don't I don't have
a problem with even you saying Baltimore, Okay, Baltimore, let's go.
I've heard you want to see Buffalo, because Buffalo you
could put.
Speaker 3 (17:02):
Oh, I forgot about Buffalo.
Speaker 4 (17:03):
I think Buffalo they are one defensive player away from
being elite, to be honest, they just need that one
spark and one more let me go. I like their
chiefs one the Chargers as well, Broncos. I think that's all.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
Yeah, all right, so you've got a couple more with
You went with everything I went with, but you also
took the Rams.
Speaker 1 (17:20):
The Bills and Baltimore.
Speaker 4 (17:22):
Have draft capital, and as long as they don't punt
on that, assuming that they keep that capital to rebuild,
especially as you mentioned with Stafford his health and how
old he is, I can only imagine that they're not
going to play that game too often in regards, so oh,
we could keep stat I think they're gonna have to
make a move and get a quarterback. That's just where
it comes down to. Because they do have a good
receiving core. Devon Dada's is probably gonna retire soon, so
(17:43):
they can draftnother receiver.
Speaker 3 (17:45):
But yeah, and their defense is really good.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
So I'm gonna throw this out to you and we'll
discuss this more throughout the course of the show. What
teams do you think on the text line four nine,
four or five to one are in a better position
to succeed going forward than the Seattle Seahawks four nine,
four five one. I gave you six, kid gave you
eight or nine regardless he threw in the Bills, the Ravens,
(18:10):
and the Rams, and those are all arguably two. I
don't have an issue with any of those. I don't,
so we'll get to that. Mike Benton, we'll talk to Magic,
Mikey Beton coming up next. What happened last night, Joey
to coord bad night for the Kraken. We'll get to that.
Mike Dugar coming up. John Mettler will also come up
and he will update us on everything going on in
(18:32):
the biggest, biggest scandal that we've seen in sports in
quite some time. MJ and The Midday Christopher Kidd. She's
had more plastic surgery than LA and Miami combined, and
it looks it.
Speaker 1 (18:46):
Don't even compare the two.
Speaker 2 (18:48):
Don't even compare the two because there is no comparison,
all right, Yes, So just saying that everybody has their
own Susie cortez As is mine. That then I'll leave
it at that. Okay, don't be coming at my future
wife like that. My weekly chat with Mike Benton talking

going so great and then Joey decor last night? Man,
(19:52):
I mean five goals on twenty shot attempts against like
what happened?
Speaker 1 (19:59):
Where? What went wrong? Last night?
Speaker 5 (20:03):
Well?
Speaker 6 (20:03):
I mean, first off, I can't picture a better segue
here because I literally just got out of Clickway about
maybe ten minutes ago from a pretty good pump. So
we have that here to you know, book for the
salespeople and to tell them how how good and how
effective they are. And we love Clickway, but last night,
you know, I think Joey being a part only a
part of the equation. MJ kind of boils down to
(20:26):
this just from a collective effort. I think that there
was one way to crystallize lane Lambert's reaction in the
postgame press conference, it was like someone told him, excuse me, sir,
I have good news that I have bad news. The
bad news is I just backed into your car. The
good news is that I just say, fifty percent of
(20:47):
my car insurance, let's switch into a brand new car
insurance company. He did not exactly look very very thrilled.
I think at the collective effort that was out there
from start to finish. You know, I think first goal,
defensive breakdown. Maybe that's a stoppable shot there for Joey
and you know they. I mean, you score a goal
a little over a minute in that that is a
(21:09):
definitive goal to set the tone. I mean, second goal,
third goal. I mean definitely the third goal. I think,
you know, you give Joy some slack, But I mean
there were some pretty stoppable shots that he usually takes
care of. I can't think of just when San Jose
goes up for one to collect the vere has let
out of the balloon. But to me, again, it's only
(21:30):
I think a piece of the collective pie that you
know made up last night. And given the fact that
Lane Lambert said that the effort was not good enough
top to bottom. The power play was not good enough.
Top to bottom. They were facing the San Jose, a
team that is playing with more confidence, but they had
been taken repeated punches in the mouth with their penalty kill.
(21:52):
On the road, they were like something I want to say,
eight goals allowed in twenty attempts and they were thirty
first in the league on the road. And when you
go out and you're giving six power plays and you
come up all for six, that's a massive clunker. I mean,
it's like loading the bases and you can't get a
single run in here. So there was a lot to
really pick apart. I think just from where things went wrong,
(22:13):
things went sideways, and you know, I'm going to practice
here in a little bit, which I think will tell
I think a pretty clear picture as far as how
this team wants to respond about a couple of days
or two days from now here against Saint Louis.
Speaker 1 (22:27):
All right, Yeah, that was a tough one last night.
Speaker 2 (22:30):
On the flip side, man, this guy for the Sharks
who was the first overall pick in the twenty twenty
four draft, Macklin Celebrini. He leads the NHL in points.
Last night, he had a goal and two assists.
Speaker 1 (22:41):
What do you see? Is this guy the next big
thing in this league? Mic?
Speaker 6 (22:47):
I certainly think so. MJ. And I had a great
conversation with our colleagues here from the Sharks radio side,
and they've been doing this for years upon years. They've
been there really even I think in some cases since
the infancy when they were playing at the at the
Cow Palace in San Francisco, and I asked them, when's
the last time you saw a player for this team
(23:09):
who was this good and this young? And the first
words out of one of their mouths didn't have to
do with anybody in Shark's franchise history. It was just
in the NHL overall. And they said, Sydney Crosby, Wow, Wow,
I really think And you know, I'll tell you what.
(23:31):
I'll tell you. What about a few days ago, they're
playing the Red Wings and their former head coach is
Tom McClellan is now coaching on the bench in Detroit,
and he's a straight shooter. I mean, he's very articulate,
but he won't mince words with you, and without hesitation,
he used the word superstar to describe what Matplin Celebrini
is Right now, he's really elevating his teammates. He plays
(23:54):
the Crosby like type of game. He plays with assertiveness,
and he really took over from the get go last night.
I thought a minute eight in, when you give a
player like that defensive breakdown, it's it's kind of in
a dangerous zone of what McDavid.
Speaker 4 (24:08):
Can do to you.
Speaker 6 (24:09):
Matthews can do to you. Even Crosby McKinnon, wrong places,
wrong time to do that a little over a minute
end of the game to give him wide open ice.
What are you doing right now is I think from
what I saw last night, he's making his teammates better
and well, I still think the true contention window for
San Jose MJ is still a few years away. He's
(24:33):
already lifted them and single handedly dragged them out of
the doormat category. They're going to be in the thick
of this, I think, and you know, I think from
from last night, we mentioned this during pregame. They're they're
one of those teams now where they are beatable, but
you cannot take them lightly. Like Chicago, they put a
scare in a New Jersey and beat them. They beat Colorado,
(24:53):
they put a scare into Detroit lost and a shootout,
and even Los Angeles, who could be still in the
thick of this here and you know they had their
way from the get go last evening here. So I mean,
he's the real deal as far as I'm concerned. And
I think a guy that you're gonna look at, you know,
when he really fills out and when he really hits
his prime. You're talking about heart trophy, candidacy year after
(25:17):
year after year.
Speaker 2 (25:18):
That's what ultimately the crack in need. They need that
aircraft carrier. They need that guy that's gonna be the
face of the franchise. And when you have that guy,
everything else kind of you know goes and you know
sets itself. After that, I got to ask you about Capocaco.
How has he looked? He came back Saturday night against
(25:39):
the Rangers, got some time on ice, and then the
win on Monday versus the Blackhawks. Is he acclaiming himself
so far? How does he look and the residual effects
of that injury.
Speaker 7 (25:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (25:54):
I talked with him the morning of his day or
the morning after his debut, and he says he feels fine.
He feels as close as the gets here to one
hundred percent. So I think what's left now MJ is
just the fact that he's playing for a brand new
coach with a brand new system, and it's going to
take time, I think, to really you know, get used
to the spacing and the positioning and the assignments of
(26:14):
where he's got to be. And then you're talking about
playing with you know, new line mates. As of right now,
he still is not playing with Matt Evaniers, and those
two really clicked together last season for a long long time.
But I mean at this point, Vanier's last night being
one of the best players I thought on the ice,
he really kept his legs moving. He and Jordan every
have been terrific so far on this top line. Despite
(26:36):
last night, it must have been a very very good
start here to this season. So I think two parts
of this again, it's it's finding a way to get
him settle and get in comfortable with new line mates,
their habits and their tendencies, and then find a way
to give him a few more games here of a
roadmap to really insert himself deeply into what Lane Lambert
(26:59):
wants him to do. With the rest of these guys
who had about roughly you know, three or four weeks
of ahead start. I mean the first game is kind
of like maybe a bit of a sugar rush. It's
a bit of an adrenaline rush. He's down for several weeks.
Now you're getting into the meat of this where you
know he's trying to It's going to be a gradual
process to get him settled in here. So I think
(27:19):
the quicker that you can confine with consistency, I think
with where he's got to play, the better off he's
going to be. He's getting power player looks right now,
and so I think a matter of time before that
confidence and those results certainly come back.
Speaker 1 (27:32):
All right.
Speaker 2 (27:32):
That was the krakens first loss at home in regulation
all season after starting out four to zero and two
at CPA. So they'll look to get back on track
Saturday night in Saint Louis against the Blues. Mike, it's
always great to talk to you, and again we appreciate
you coming on my weekly check with Mike Ben Brought

Speaker 1 (28:20):
That's Clickway with a K. We'll talk to you next week, Mike.
Speaker 6 (28:25):
That was a pleasure, thanks, James.
Speaker 1 (28:27):
All right, you got it.
Speaker 2 (28:28):
So we've seen James Franklin fired at Penn State, Billy
Napier fired at Florida, Brian Kelly fired at LSU, Hugh
Freeze fired at Auburn.
Speaker 1 (28:46):
Could there be.
Speaker 2 (28:49):
A blue blood program making a change in firing their
head coach? You are not good to want to miss
this next hitting the all fields MJ in the midday,
(29:16):
All right, Josh Pate, who has come on this show
before from CBS. He has a huge cult like following
with college football Josh Payt College Football Show.
Speaker 1 (29:26):
He was on.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
The podcast with Will Compton and the other guy Will
Compton does this show with I don't know his name,
and quite frankly, I don't really care. But Josh Pate
blow kinda hinted at what could be a major bombshell
on the next firing in college football. Do you have
any feeling on any of these job openings right now? Yeah, Carada,
(29:53):
off the record to just put this on your radar,
put it on and can we end on this?
Speaker 1 (29:59):
Can we?
Speaker 7 (30:00):
Well, we do have a final bite for McDonald's.
Speaker 2 (30:01):
But yeah, and also should we wait, Hey, this could
be this could be the take week.
Speaker 7 (30:05):
Can you put the pin back in? Where have you
just pulled them?
Speaker 1 (30:08):
All right, you're ready to pull the man?
Speaker 7 (30:09):
All right, here we go.
Speaker 1 (30:10):
Let's just keep an eye on Lincoln Riley at USC.
Speaker 2 (30:16):
Uh oh uh, oh wow. Wow. That's a blue blood.
That's a blue blood. That's as good they are, you know,
this side of Alabama. When I think of blue blood's
in college football, even most more so than Notre Dame,
I think of SC that's a blue blood. Now since
(30:37):
they started to track recruiting rankings and giving numbers to
players USC right now with the early signing day coming
up in a month, they have what is regarded as
the highest ranked recruiting class in college football history. So
that could get Lincoln to next year. But if Josh
(31:01):
Pate is saying keep an eye on Lincoln Riley SC.
You know they got the money. Lincoln Riley's had more
than enough time to get that thing turned around. But
here comes the problem. You fire Lincoln Riley.
Speaker 1 (31:16):
Uh oh.
Speaker 2 (31:17):
A lot of those kids bye bye bye bye commitments.
Speaker 1 (31:22):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (31:23):
They're not signing those lois, those letters of intent, They're
not coming there. They're going to other schools. So they're
in a very precarious position. I think, in my opinion,
it would be.
Speaker 1 (31:40):
A stute.
Speaker 2 (31:42):
And prescient for USC to hold on to Lincoln Riley
for one more year just to cash in on this
recruiting class, which is like hitting the recruiting powerball. Remember
number one recruiting class in the history of college football
since they started to keep rankings on and give players
numbers on how great they are.
Speaker 1 (32:04):
That's how great this class is. It is ridiculous.
Speaker 2 (32:07):
And I have a friend who has season tickets to
SC games who sits right behind these recruits. That's how
great the seats are. Things got a little testy with
Boston College head coach Bill O'Brien and a member of
the media here it is.
Speaker 8 (32:27):
Coach, I wonder you've a message with the fans. Obviously,
losing to nor Dame Catholic School rival one A and out.
Speaker 7 (32:32):
In the season BC. I've heard from a lot of fans.
I just I'm really glad. I'm glad. You're down. I'm
not down.
Speaker 5 (32:38):
Nobody's down. We're fighting, we're competing. It's the second year
of this program.
Speaker 7 (32:42):
Mike.
Speaker 5 (32:43):
You always come in here with these down questions, like
you show up like once a month or something like that.
Speaker 7 (32:47):
You come in here with these down questions. I'm not down.
Speaker 5 (32:50):
I don't know what year you graduated from BC, but
this is a program that we're building.
Speaker 7 (32:54):
Nobody hears down. We're positive.
Speaker 5 (32:56):
We're gonna show up and play our asses off against SMU.
You can go out there your dark, clouded world or
whatever it is and do what you want to do.
We're not down. The sun is up and we're fighting.
That's my message to the fans. What's up, Trevor?
Speaker 3 (33:11):
Wow?
Speaker 2 (33:12):
Wow, somebody a little testy, a little testy Bob. Well, listen, Bill,
you're one in eight, sweetheart, and there's every reason to
be down. You haven't won since before Labor Day, and
that didn't count because you've faced a non FBS program
(33:32):
in Fordham, Fordham. I didn't even know Fordham has a
college football program. Can I hear that sound bite one
more time? I want to hear that whole thing again.
Speaker 1 (33:42):
I love that.
Speaker 7 (33:48):
Coach.
Speaker 8 (33:48):
I wonder you give a message to the fans. Obviously
losing to nor name Catholic school rival one in a
and out in the season BC, I've heard from a lot
of fans.
Speaker 7 (33:56):
I just I'm really glad. I'm glad.
Speaker 5 (33:58):
You're down. I'm not down. Nobody's down. We're fighting, we're competing.
It's the second year of this program.
Speaker 7 (34:03):
Mike. You always come in.
Speaker 5 (34:04):
Here with these down questions, Like you show up like
once a month or something like that.
Speaker 7 (34:08):
You come in here with these down questions. I'm not down.
Speaker 5 (34:11):
I don't know what year you graduated from BC. But
this is a program that we're building. Nobody hears down.
We're positive. We're gonna show up and play our asses
off against SMU. You can go out there in your dark,
clouded world or whatever it is and do what you
want to do. We're not down. The sun is up
and we're fighting. That's my message to the fans. What's up, Trevor.
Speaker 2 (34:31):
You've lost eight in a row, Bill, eight in a row,
you're one in eight. You got SMU coming up on Saturday,
then Georgia Tech. Yeah, I probably just say I mean
your double digit favorites and at double digit underdogs at
home in both games. You're looking at one in ten.
If you're not down, Bill, you should be because your
program is an absolute joke. And kudos to Mike whoever
(34:55):
that is, for asking that question. And it goes to
show you, Oh, by the way you got under his skin,
you did your job all right. Coming up next, the
biggest scandal in sports. Oh, it's just begun. John Mettler
will join us, and then Mike Dugar coming up at
noon
