Speaker 1 (00:01):
Nirvana to kick off your morning as we kick off
something very special today, Michael.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Yeah, what's that?
Speaker 1 (00:07):
It's not just the morning mosh pit, but it is
Bro Week 2026.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
I like that. Maria is out on vacation. Much needed. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (00:18):
But barely her flight got canceled. We get a text
message that just says, I want to off myself.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
What happened?
Speaker 3 (00:27):
She's trying to fly into Miami. I guess I have
all kinds of problems down there, including that flight.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
The air.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
You imagine Bezos, he flips on the news and just
sees like Amazon prime plane crashed into the thing.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
Like crazy.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
A big situation going on in Miami, but bro week,
bro week. So are we talking a lot of sports?
Speaker 2 (00:47):
Absolutely. You are damn right. We are. It's a huge week.
It is football week.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
NFL kicks off tomorrow. Sox are. telling us yeah they
want to move to a new stadium we've also got
a chaotic college football weekend and of course we gotta
talk about the bears.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
My favorite thing about the highlights from college football the
guys puking through their helmets they're just standing there just
you're like they know every camera can they're gonna have
nine different angles.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Oh yeah their social media is being.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
I'm excited man and uh you know i got weather
for you let's do it.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
Michael's obsession with clouds cannot be overstated. It went up
to the cloud. And you can't get it down from
the cloud? Nobody understands the cloud.
Speaker 3 (01:29):
It's a mystery.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
Here's weather.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
Hot and humid, but not as bad as it has been.
High of 84 is what it says here. I saw
on the news this morning. I think it was Fox
32 said 86. But clouds just kind of building throughout
the day. It's going to be cloudy, humid, you know, summer.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
Don't hate it.
Speaker 3 (01:48):
Although you did say this morning you can feel the transition.
I went out yesterday morning just outside. And right when
I walked out, I was like, oh, it's fall, baby.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
It's a little crisp.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
When you wake up and you got a nice 80
degree afternoon. But one other thing we're tracking today. Six
Flags is going to be making a big announcement. As
soon as we get the news, we're going to be
sharing that with you. But next, some people... Don't need
to do rock music.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
Yeah, it's interesting, right? Carrie Underwood did a little cover
of Limp Bizkit over the weekend. And the internet is divided.
We'll play it for you next. I can't figure out
if this is a good or bad cover. Rock 95.5
Chicago's Rock Station during a show September 5th. Country superstar.
You could call her that Carrie Underwood admitted that she's
a new metal fan with a surprise limp biscuit cover.
(02:40):
She was wearing a backwards red hat like Fred wore
in the 90s and busted out a spirited performance of.
I'm surprised at this to break stuff. I just wonder
(03:02):
if she's going to say the word.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
That's what I wonder.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
No.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
No, she didn't say it. She censored herself. Well, that's
the disappointment for me. I want her to drop that
F-bomb in front of that country crowd. That's the disappointment?
Speaker 4 (03:17):
No.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
It's tough, dude. I don't know why. Oh, she censored
the S-word, too.
Speaker 5 (03:22):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
Fan reactions are mixed, obviously. I don't know, man. I
think it's fine. Whatever, Carrie.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
So I think we talked about this a little bit
last week because somehow we were talking about the alleged
album of Mariah Carey. There's a grunge album that somebody's
holding on to and has, and we all collectively agreed
that's going to be amazing. Nobody said and said, I
need Carrie Underwood doing new metal.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
I know. Be a fan all you want. It didn't
sound good. It didn't sound like it was a good fit.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
I had a run-in with her one time. My worst
celebrity experience was with her. Yeah, we did a meet-and-greet,
and you know how those work. You line up, everybody
goes back to take a picture. Well, for her, and
this is crazy, Maris, I don't know if you've ever
seen this. You've been to a lot of these meet-and-greets, too.
When we went in, the whole room for the meet-and-greet
was decorated, and there was a huge TV on the wall.
So when they would take a picture, like a professional
(04:13):
photographer would take a picture, it would show up on
the screen.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
Oh, that's kind of cool.
Speaker 3 (04:17):
It's kind of cool, so you can see. I'm at
the end of the line, and maybe she knew we
were with radio or whatever. But we take this picture
and she immediately just gets on her phone and I'm
like looking at it on the screen. And I thought
I thought you should just be an a-hole.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
I was young.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
And I looked over at her and I go, hey,
what do you think of our picture? And she like
slowly looks up from her phone and looks over at.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
Me and goes, I don't give an F. So I
know she can say the word. Yeah. But I was like, wow.
I just got dunked on by Carrie Underwood.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
That doesn't sound like a bit. It just sounded like, okay,
I'm done with the fans. You guys can't say anything
bad about me right now.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
Exactly. But we do want to hear from you.
Speaker 4 (04:55):
844-955-9550.
Speaker 2 (04:55):
Do you like the Carrie Underwood cover of Break Stuff? Yeah.
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
I would rather like Limp Bizkit cover Carrie Underwood in
new metal style.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
That would be funnier.
Speaker 3 (05:09):
Also, if Fred Durst comes out in a cowboy hat
and covers Carrie Underwood.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
Also kind of funny. Yeah, that's funny. Carrie was trying
so hard to make that work. Yeah, it's bad. Yeah, bad.
But shoot us a text.
Speaker 5 (05:21):
844-955-9550.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
You know, you always hear it. Don't be around chain smokers.
Rock 95.5 Chicago's Rock Station. Well, in this case, not
only the smokers, but the band as well. For the
second time now in just as many weeks, people are
being sent to the hospital at chain smoker shows. This
one's interesting because nine people were injured. Seven people hospitalized
(05:45):
when bottles began flying into the crowd during the chain
smokers after set at the Splash House Festival in In
Palm Springs.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
That's wild.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
According to local police, the bottles flying were a result
of a dispute that did not involve the injured party.
So there's a fight somewhere else and the bottles were flying,
smacking people in the head. Is this why when I
go to, I mean, obviously, when I go to stadiums, they, one,
make me open the can or two, I don't even
think they use bottles anymore, do they?
Speaker 1 (06:10):
They're opening the can for you. Then, like, if it
is a bottle, they'll pour it. Yeah. There's a, there's
a lot of places or a lot of bands in
their writers. It would be like, you have to pour
into a cup.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
Like you can't have a bottle anymore.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
I think it's, I want to say it was one,
one of those Limp Bizkit tours. Everybody just went insane.
And they were just launching bottles. And then the rest
of the tour, they had the fence. Yeah, it was
like a chain link fence, basically.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
Which added to the aesthetic. It was super cool. It
was way cool, I agree.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
And you can also blame the Cleveland Browns. They had
a few bad calls go south while they were at
home in Cleveland, and they were just chucking everything onto
the field.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
I've never seen that. I've got to go back and
watch that.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
They packed snowballs with batteries. They were just throwing beer
bottles onto the field.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
They packed snowballs with batteries? It was at a time where, like,
you'd go to the game, and if you were sitting somewhere,
you'd have a radio.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
Oh, yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
And you'd listen to the— Like NASCAR, basically, yeah. So
you're listening to the game, and it was a bad call.
And the Browns already, you know.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
And it's Cleveland. You've got to live in Cleveland. Shut up.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
I love Cleveland. But, yeah, rules changed after that. So
it's wild to see that they're just at a bar
and they weren't even taking accountability for this.
Speaker 3 (07:30):
I saw this once at a Modest Mouse show, actually,
oddly enough, in Seattle. The sound was so bad. The
band was so bad. People thought that it was the
sound guy's problem. And so they started throwing, but they
were throwing their cups. Cause obviously there's no bottles or anything,
but still they're throwing full cups of beer down into
the sound booth.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
That's the worst. It was crazy. Wow. I've never seen
anything other than that though. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
You ever seen anybody throw anything at the stage on
the stage?
Speaker 2 (07:54):
I've never seen it.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
Like I've seen like people throw beers at each other,
but not.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
Directed at the stage. Cause that'd get tamp bound real quick.
Speaker 3 (08:03):
It does go on here and say, local police tweeted
that they have arrested the guy and he is in custody.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
Oh, The guy that started the whole melee.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
That's wild that nine people were injured and sent to
the hospital, but good he got caught.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
T-Box.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
It's not too early to talk about T-Box. I can't
believe we're even talking about it.
Speaker 2 (08:21):
Yeah, you know what? We're just rolling through the rest
of the year.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
I got giveaways for T-Box coming up in five things
next on Rock 95.5. Five-ish things you almost certainly need
to know. All right, let's start five things off with
a giveaway.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
844-955-9550.
Speaker 1 (08:40):
Never too early to talk about T-Box, especially when you're
talking about their 30th annual 12 Bars of Christmas Santa
Crawl going on in Wrigleyville. It's going to be Saturday,
December 13th. More than 12 bars all around Wrigley. And
my favorite thing about T-Box is they are raising money
(09:01):
for charities. They just donate all throughout the year. This
all started in 1996, and this year has been tradition.
opening ceremonies are going to be at the cubby bear
so if you want to get out and enjoy yourself
uh for 12 bars of christmas 844-955-9550 we're giving away
(09:22):
three pairs of tickets for.
Speaker 3 (09:23):
This right now 1996 chicago man what a time oh
my god oh my god yes incredible they're like you
know what we need t-box bar.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
Crawl baby like let's do this now it's so fun
So it.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
Looks like Americans are moving away from pumpkin spice. According
to reports, caramel apple, apple pie, matcha, chai, and even
banana-inspired drinks are starting to become more popular. McDonald's even
dropped pumpkin spice completely from their lineup in favor of
apple pie.
Speaker 2 (09:56):
What do you like better, pumpkin or apple?
Speaker 3 (09:58):
Apple.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
Apple. I think it's just way more diverse, right? Yes.
But then again, you do like a little sip of pumpkin. Yeah.
Or pumpkin pie. Let's see.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
There's been a legendary dime that's been found, and it
is valued at... $ 1. 2 million. It's straight silver, and it
was from 1894.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
There's only been 24 that were produced, so it's very,
very rare. This dime was bought for $ 93, 000. It's being
sold for over a million, which is absolutely wild. Crazy.
Some of them are misprinted, or it's just a unique.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
I think it's the rarity. It's silver, and there's only 24.
Speaker 5 (10:41):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (10:42):
People are collecting things more than I've ever seen.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
Oh, absolutely. From cards to, you know. It's all over
the place.
Speaker 1 (10:49):
Airlines are clapping back at people who are using pillowcases
as suitcases. This is an effort to avoid baggage fees,
and it's not going well because what it ends up
doing is it slows the security checks down completely and
upsets other passengers who are actually using bags and carry-ons.
Speaker 2 (11:09):
So is this thing like where at school they would
be like.
Speaker 3 (11:11):
You've got to bring anything's a backpack. So if it's
in a pillowcase, it doesn't count.
Speaker 2 (11:20):
Yeah. And then they're making you check the pillowcase at
the end of the series. All right.
Speaker 1 (11:24):
Let's talk to Michael from Maple Park. Michael, how are
you doing this morning?
Speaker 3 (11:31):
Ah, woke up, going to work.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
All right, man, you made it. It's Tuesday, though. I
was going to say, it's already Tuesday, and you are
going to T-Box, my man.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
You're going to be a part of 12 Bars of
Christmas over in Wrigleyville.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
Hopefully, you've got a drinking partner ready to go with you.
I got a partner and a problem. I like it.
Speaker 1 (11:53):
Well said. Michael, you're all set. Hang on the line
so we can get your information, but also you. Go
get your tickets at tbox.org. We're going to be giving
these away all week long, so make sure you listen
up for that.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
With Maria, Michael, and Maris. Actually, the mistress of chaos
is out on vacation.
Speaker 4 (12:11):
Look at her.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
Maria's out for a little while. You got bro week 2026.
And this story is kind of wild. A gentleman was
gifted a lottery ticket for his birthday. Went to go
cash it in.
Speaker 2 (12:24):
$ 1 million. $ 1 million.
Speaker 1 (12:27):
OK, yeah, just won a million dollars right there. He
and his wife are planning to buy a new car,
a golf cart, go on a cruise for their 40th anniversary.
But the question that's been circulating is, do you tip back?
Do you give back to the person who gave you
the initial lottery ticket winnings?
Speaker 2 (12:48):
If someone gives me a Christmas present, do I give
them part of it back?
Speaker 1 (12:50):
No.
Speaker 2 (12:51):
This is the way gifts work. This is different circumstances.
I mean, kind of. It's still a gift.
Speaker 1 (12:56):
I'm tipping back. It may not be a whole lot.
Or if you ever come to me in need, you
got it. As long as I got it.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
Boy, you got to be careful saying that, though. I know. Also,
if you tip back, then like, is it a big
enough tip? Right. If you win a million dollars and
you give them, what, a hundred bucks? I'm not. Would
you do more? So I guess that's the question. You
win a million, Maris. If I win a million. How
much are you tipping back? Take home is about $ 500, 000. Yeah.
I'd probably give him 50K. 50K? Yeah. You are giving.
(13:28):
That's amazing.
Speaker 4 (13:28):
I mean.
Speaker 3 (13:30):
That's tough, though, because even if you give them $ 1, 000,
it's still like, well, Uncle Maris is cheap or whatever.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
Also, I still have $ 450, 000 left for myself. I didn't
bankrupt myself giving you the prize back. But are you
upset if you give that ticket away and they don't
give you anything?
Speaker 3 (13:47):
Everybody else in the family is going to be upset
that they didn't get some, too, because now you're giving
to other people and not giving enough to other people.
Speaker 2 (13:53):
Yeah. So it does open up a little wormhole. I
think it does.
Speaker 3 (13:57):
That's why I just say shut it down and then
give it like a year. And when Christmas comes around,
then just get some cool presents for the kids.
Speaker 2 (14:03):
Go buy more lotteries. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (14:09):
Yes! 844-955-9550. What are you doing in this situation? I
think I absolutely got to tip them.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
A little bit.
Speaker 3 (14:15):
I would like to think so, but I just think
you're opening a whole can of worms with that, man.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
I mean, okay, so you win the lottery. You're not
tipping back. But are you giving some to your parents?
Speaker 2 (14:27):
It depends.
Speaker 3 (14:28):
So if my parents bought the ticket, sure. I'm going
to give them a bunch, right? Because I would have
given them money anyways.
Speaker 2 (14:33):
But like, if....
Speaker 1 (14:36):
If I bought you the ticket and you got a
million off of it, what are you doing?
Speaker 2 (14:42):
Nothing. What are you talking about? What do you mean?
We're friends. It's cool. Thank you. How about this? I'm
going to go buy you a lottery ticket. I'll give
you a lottery ticket, too, so we're even. such a dick.
Speaker 1 (14:56):
Move i'm not saying we would be fighting when you
hand me that lottery ticket but in this room us
three are close enough that if i won a million
dollars and you bought me the ticket i would give
you a hundred thousand yeah But.
Speaker 3 (15:06):
Then Maria's going to be pissed. All right, well, you
get 50. You bought the ticket, though. So Maria's entitled
to it, right? You get 80, she gets 20. Just
because I don't need the issue.
Speaker 4 (15:17):
844-955-9550.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
You win a.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
Million dollars in a lottery from a gift. From one
of your friends, are you tipping them back? Let us
know if you are and how much if you do.
Speaker 2 (15:31):
More stadium news.
Speaker 3 (15:33):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (15:33):
Another new stadium. Okay.
Speaker 3 (15:36):
We have a potential new Chicago White Sox stadium. It
has been proposed as part of the rail yards. Rock 95.5
Chicago's Rock Station. Morning Mosh Pit is on. It's an
80-acre mixed-use mega development along the south branch of the
Chicago River. We went and rented one of those little
like pontoon boats and you go rent it down in
(15:57):
that area. And I remember thinking when I was down there,
I was like, why couldn't you put a stadium out here?
Speaker 2 (16:01):
That's where it is. There's a whole bunch of space.
Why don't we put the bears over there? I think
the bears want it too, but something. I wonder if
it's the tax thing, the same problem, right? I have
no clue. If the Bears would land a plane, I'd
be happy.
Speaker 1 (16:15):
But watching the White Sox make a move in, I'd
say they have a perfectly sustainable.
Speaker 2 (16:20):
Stadium at rate field, but obviously wanting to have some updates.
Speaker 3 (16:25):
Do you feel like, listen, everybody knows that I'm a
Cubs fan, and I'm not saying this because I'm a
Cubs fan. The same way I feel about Soldier Field
is kind of the same way I feel about rate
field in a way.
Speaker 2 (16:36):
It feels sort of pole barn-ish, right? hole barn does
that make sense.
Speaker 3 (16:41):
Like it's like um big and open and kind of
uninsulated like when you go to these new stadiums i
was just talking on the youtube chat about this when
you go to these new stadiums the the things are
like more built in whereas.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
It's lacking technology.
Speaker 3 (16:54):
Maybe it's technology maybe it's a little purpose in the
design you mean wrigley.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
Well, I don't. Wrigley is a baseball stadium. I agree
with you. And that is it.
Speaker 3 (17:04):
But I feel like I just put Wrigley in a
different level. I really like a plush stadium, like a
new stadium. Okay, so basically you want to be in
an updated stadium. I would love all the things. I mean,
I see some of these stadiums, they got like heated seats.
Speaker 2 (17:17):
It's not just the heated seats.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
They've got, I know some of the ones out in Cali,
they've got charging stations.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
Come on! That's a brilliant idea.
Speaker 1 (17:27):
There's a QR code on your cup holder and you
just put an order in and the attendant will bring
over your.
Speaker 2 (17:33):
Order to you.
Speaker 1 (17:33):
All right. Cleveland has the facial recognition as your ticket.
Speaker 3 (17:38):
This could very well be the way that the White Sox,
along with having a winning team, start to sort of.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
I don't have any problems with Redfield. I like it.
It's fine. It's good.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
I would absolutely love to have another stadium in Chicago
that was updated.
Speaker 3 (17:58):
Let me ask you this, White Sox fans, would you
love to have a brand new, state-of-the-art, bragging rights stadium
for your awesome, kick-ass team? By the way, it's doing
great to play.
Speaker 1 (18:11):
It's going to have a hotel district. There's going to
be a food district. There's going to be a hospital
that's right in the area as well.
Speaker 2 (18:18):
Well, that's perfect because when you get shot at the stadium.
Shut up, Michael.
Speaker 1 (18:21):
Actually, we've got to talk about that tomorrow because that's
circled back.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
Oh, wow.
Speaker 1 (18:27):
But I think the one major complaint about Raid Field,
there's nothing to do before or after.
Speaker 2 (18:33):
Boom, that's it.
Speaker 1 (18:34):
You have to go and tailgate or you just go
straight to the game. There's restaurants and stuff like deeper away,
but having all of that right next to the stadium,
it would be a good look. So I am in
favor of that. And also the one other thing, Raid
is facing south. Face it towards the city. The new
stadium would be faced so you could see the skyline.
Speaker 3 (18:56):
And if you haven't seen the renderings, I'll go repost
some on our Instagram and stuff. And like right when
we get off the air here, you got to check
out the photos of the place.
Speaker 2 (19:02):
It looks absolutely incredible. I even as a Cubs fan,
I am excited.
Speaker 1 (19:06):
844-955-9550. Sox fan and Chicago fans sound off. Are you
in favor of a new White Sox stadium in the
rail yard?
Speaker 2 (19:17):
Let us know what you think.
Speaker 3 (19:20):
Well, it's not good news for rock news today, unfortunately,
but we give it to you no matter what.
Speaker 2 (19:26):
Oh, gee.
Speaker 3 (19:27):
Rock 95.5 Chicago's Rock Station. We lost another rock star
over the weekend. This one's super sad, actually. My girlfriend's
favorite band of all time is Every Time I Die. Like,
she has framed book covers from the lead singer Keith.
We went out and saw his new metal band at
the Aragon last time the time they were here I
(19:47):
think they're called many eyes or something like that you
could be wrong about that but he is good I'm
just not as much of a metal guy okay but
a lot of people are and former every time I
die guitarist Andy Williams has reportedly died following an incident
in which he collapsed during a wrestling show in Pennsylvania
on Saturday He, I guess, was doing, like, you know,
not pro, but... But some indie. Yeah, wrestling around the country.
(20:11):
TMZ has confirmed William's death after... With the Allegheny County
Medical Examiner's Office. He was 48 years old. First of all,
I couldn't imagine doing some sort of wrestling at, like...
I'm 42.
Speaker 2 (20:21):
And, like... Yeah. My body hurts all the time.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
But when it's something that you love, you know, you
step out and you get into it. I'm sure he
was having fun going around on the indies and just
having fun. Like, some of those indie videos are just...
Absolutely wild.
Speaker 2 (20:33):
He also had muscles. Yeah. Something I have none of.
Pretty sad, though. Let's see here.
Speaker 3 (20:39):
He was one of the founding members and guitarist for
Every Time I Die, basically for the band's entire time
in Being a band, they broke up, I think, in 2001.
According to wrestling news website Frightful, Williams' legs buckled before
he fell to the floor. His partner, The Blade, he
was known as The Butcher, attempted to help him up
before Williams collapsed again and then passed out.
Speaker 2 (20:59):
I can picture this super sad. Yeah, that's not good.
Speaker 3 (21:02):
Frightful reportedly talked to those attending the show who said
that a defibrillator was brought out, used on Williams before
he was taken to the hospital as the lights on
the ambulance were still on when they left. which means
he was at least they had a heartbeat, uh, leaving
the venue. Um, then the doctor said, quote, our doctors
and staff tended him immediately, uh, administering CPR. Uh, we
(21:22):
sent everyone home and are at the hospital waiting for
more information.
Speaker 2 (21:25):
Uh, now I don't know. Yeah, yeah, exactly.
Speaker 3 (21:29):
So, um, but yeah, he has passed away at 48
years old. Uh, another tragedy, another, another big rock star down.
Speaker 2 (21:35):
Yeah. Um, you know, I guess you could say though,
died doing what he loved. Yeah. Awesome prayers going out
to the family.
Speaker 3 (21:41):
It's not, uh, One thing about this guy and I'll
get I'll do this real quick is they said he
was like the nicest guy ever. So Keith Buckley was
the lead singer of Every Time I Die. Put up
a post on Instagram. Here's two of the things he said.
He said, I remember after one of our Christmas shows
in the town ballroom, Andy unplugged his gear and just
started handing it out to people in the crowd as
Christmas presents.
Speaker 1 (22:01):
Oh, wow.
Speaker 3 (22:01):
He says his actual gear like this wasn't a point
in our lives where any of us had money to
replace it. He just didn't know what he was doing
and he loved the people so much that he went
out to give them that.
Speaker 2 (22:10):
Just a big heart. And one more. Years later, when
my daughter was born, Andy was the one who drove
me to the hospital.
Speaker 3 (22:14):
I was terrified. I didn't know if she was going
to live. And my brain was trying to control whatever
it was left and could control naturally. I began giving
Andy directions. I remember telling him what roads to turn down. Finally,
he said, stop thinking about it. I'll take care of it.
Speaker 2 (22:29):
And he did.
Speaker 3 (22:31):
Just a close friend, a good guy, and another tragedy.
So rest in peace to him and shout out to
his family and friends.
Speaker 1 (22:38):
Lincoln Park right here on A Rock 95.5. Sadly, I
have to admit, I still have not seen Unchattered yet.
Speaker 2 (22:44):
Really?
Speaker 1 (22:45):
Much like we have not seen the Acme versus or
Coyote versus Acme. But we're going to change that and
Pitt happens today. Let's get Chris on the line from Merrillville. Chris,
how are you doing today?
Speaker 5 (22:59):
I am doing fantastic.
Speaker 2 (23:02):
How was your three day weekend?
Speaker 5 (23:04):
Oh, my daughter was in Orlando. So we had a
gender reveal and all kinds of stuff this weekend. So
I'm having a grand baby boy.
Speaker 2 (23:10):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (23:11):
Congrats.
Speaker 2 (23:11):
Congrats. That is a very big weekend. That's amazing.
Speaker 5 (23:14):
How'd they do the reveal? They had two of their
friends dressed up in inflatable baby suits, and they fought,
and the one that won the fight was the right gender.
Speaker 2 (23:24):
I think I saw that on the Internet. That's amazing.
Speaker 3 (23:26):
That's ringing a bell. Did somebody put that? Okay, that's
really funny. What a cool way to do it. Way
to go with ringing the bell for the fight. But, Chris,
thanks for joining us in Pit Happens this morning. This
is the lovely game where we put you in a pituation.
And your goal is not to get kicked out, tossed out,
or thrown out by security. We got Iron Maiden tickets
up for grabs. And let's go ahead and head to
(23:47):
the movies because we are not doing a great job.
We're extra butter, baby. We're finally going to see Acme.
Speaker 2 (23:56):
Thank God. Coyote versus Acme. It's going to be out
of theaters by the time I get there. Thank you, Chris,
for forcing the hand. And we are getting it done.
Speaker 1 (24:04):
And as we're sitting in the theater enjoying all of
the nostalgia of the Looney Tunes, there's a gentleman sitting
behind us. He's just on his phone.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
I'm tired of these people. He's not just scrolling. Disrespect.
Speaker 1 (24:16):
You can see all the ambulitness of his face. But
he's also taking calls during the movie.
Speaker 2 (24:23):
Okay, that's crazy. Yeah, this is absolutely wild.
Speaker 1 (24:27):
Michael, upset with the situation, gets up and begins to
yell at the gentleman before somebody goes to get the
staffers of.
Speaker 2 (24:36):
The movie theater. Unfortunately, he is there with his son.
Speaker 1 (24:40):
His son starts crying out of fear from Michael yelling.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
So as the movie theater staffers.
Speaker 1 (24:45):
Run into the theater, they're looking and they see Michael
and the little kid crying.
Speaker 2 (24:50):
Standing over the child.
Speaker 1 (24:52):
How, Chris, how are we getting Michael out of this situation?
Speaker 5 (24:59):
We are going to tell them that I was having
an asthma attack, and he did not mean to yell
at him. He was just worried for my safety.
Speaker 2 (25:05):
Wow. Medical emergency, Chris. Let's see how you roll there.
20 sides. 20 is good.
Speaker 3 (25:11):
One is bad.
Speaker 2 (25:12):
Here we go. Oh, it's a six.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (25:15):
It's a tough scene out there.
Speaker 1 (25:16):
So they try to believe you on your medical emergency,
but they ask for your asthma inhaler.
Speaker 2 (25:22):
It's in my purse.
Speaker 5 (25:24):
Oh, okay.
Speaker 2 (25:26):
Roll for in the purse. Okay. In the purse. Here
we go. Here we go. That's a 17, baby. Let's go. Okay. Okay.
All right.
Speaker 1 (25:36):
Now that they've seen the Aspen, hail a real or
fake good Jack, Chris, we get to explain what was
going on. The, the, the son and father who was
creating a commotion, get escorted out of the movie.
Speaker 2 (25:53):
They restart the movie and popcorn's on the house.
Speaker 1 (25:55):
Nice. So, Chris, congrats. You are going to see Iron Maiden.
They'll be over at Credit Union 1 Amphitheater on Tuesday,
September 22nd. Going to be an amazing show out there
as the great concert year with Live Nation continues. Chris,
who do you plan on taking with you.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
For this one?
Speaker 5 (26:12):
I'm going to take my husband. He's a huge fan.
Speaker 2 (26:14):
There we go. What's your husband's name? Steve. Steve. Heck yeah, Steve.
Speaker 1 (26:18):
You got a concert coming up and you better be ready.
Shout out to Chris. You are all set. Everybody else
who wants to get tickets for this show, head on
over to Ticketmaster.com. All thanks to our friends from Live Nation.
Speaker 3 (26:33):
Jason Bacon in the YouTube chat says, I watched Coyote vs.
Acme on my desktop. It was good and answered some
questions I had as a kid. Because you always want...
It was like, how does he never catch him?
Speaker 2 (26:43):
At some point, we're going to have to actually see
this movie, Michael. We will soon.
Speaker 1 (26:48):
We're immersed in the morning mosh pit on Rock 95.5.
Speaker 2 (26:53):
Tom Morello. Yes, sir.
Speaker 3 (26:54):
A man who is unafraid to speak his mind. Enormously
famous rock star. I mean, he was in some of
my favorite bands ever. Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave. He
was on a podcast over the weekend, and he told
an incredible story about the origins of the band Audioslave
and how he met Chris Cornell with Rick Rubin.
Speaker 2 (27:13):
Oh, goodness.
Speaker 3 (27:15):
They decided to go out to Chris's house. I'm just
going to play it for you because this is what
it sounded like.
Speaker 4 (27:19):
So when Zach left the band, Tim and Brad and
I knew we wanted to play together. We knew we
wanted Rick to make the next record and spent a
lot of time over at Rick's house, like listening, watching
videos of singers and rappers and talking about it. And
we're huge, but kept coming back to Bad Motor Finger.
And we love that record. But I didn't know, didn't
really know Chris. Saw him at a barbecue once, you know,
when the more you get into those, that record and
(27:40):
the earlier records, there is a dark lyricism.
Speaker 2 (27:42):
There is a.
Speaker 4 (27:44):
Edgar Allen Poe level, you know, like, it's not, you're like, what,
who is that dude?
Speaker 2 (27:49):
Call him up. He was living in Ojai at the time.
So me and Rick drive up there in my van.
Speaker 4 (27:52):
You know, and Rick normally, if he, Rick doesn't go anywhere,
but if he goes somewhere, it's in a Rolls Royce
that's wrapped in another Rolls Royce to get him out
of the house. So we go up there and Chris,
of course, lives in the last, loneliest road. And You know,
the dusk is upon us. We pull in and it's
kind of spooky Alhambra-like mansion with the gilded doors. And
there's a couple of motorcycles out front in this long
kind of winding stairway that goes to the front door.
(28:13):
And we pull in and Rick and I kind of
look at each other. And then the door opens, Addams
Family style. And here comes Chris Cornell, 6'2, lanky of frame,
dark of countenance. And he starts, you know, slowly loping
down the steps.
Speaker 2 (28:26):
And Rick turns to me and goes, let's get the
f * * * out of here. Our souls.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
This might be some great music ahead, but whatever's happening here.
Speaker 4 (28:35):
Fortunately, we did not chicken out and spent six really
great years making music with Chris there.
Speaker 2 (28:41):
And I'm so glad that we did.
Speaker 3 (28:43):
How do you say that? Loping down the stairs? I
like that. That's how I feel when I walk.
Speaker 2 (28:48):
It's such a good visual that he makes.
Speaker 3 (28:50):
Tump.
Speaker 2 (28:51):
Please do more podcasts. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (28:52):
Tell us more stories because I know you have so
many built in there, but that is just an amazing
origin story.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
Wait for it. Stories with Tom Morello coming soon to iHeartRadio. Oh, yeah.
Have somebody get on that right now.
Speaker 1 (29:08):
And you never really think about those decisions that go
into the super bands coming together.
Speaker 3 (29:13):
Well, and he said they were sitting around with Rick
Rubin in the studio, like looking at rappers maybe to
front the band and sort of what they wanted to
do and where they wanted to go. And I love
that when they went out to Chris's house, it was
like he said, the last one on the road, dusk, dark.
Speaker 1 (29:25):
You know, like it's just cool. Adam's family style. It
just paints that picture. And it's just like that's the
most Chris Cornell thing you ever hear.
Speaker 3 (29:33):
You know, those those bikes out front were black on
black on black. Nothing shiny. It's all Matt. Like it's sick. Yeah,
I love it, man. We lost a good one there.
Speaker 2 (29:42):
I really did.
Speaker 1 (29:42):
I wish that's one of my regrets, not getting to
see them perform.
Speaker 3 (29:48):
Like two months before Chris Cornell died. I got to
take pictures of him in the photo pit, like with
a pass in Richmond, Virginia. Yeah, he was doing an
acoustic tour and he it was just him and acoustic
guitar out there on stage. And I have the picture
on my Instagram if you scroll back far enough.
Speaker 2 (30:02):
What a voice. Yeah. What a legend, man. Just absolutely legendary.
Speaker 4 (30:06):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (30:06):
More legendary things going on in this city. We're talking
sports next because it's Bro Week 2026. Oh, my God.
Speaker 2 (30:13):
There's a lot happening.
Speaker 1 (30:16):
Nickelback on Rock 95.5 is just the morning mosh pit.
We can expect a new album from Nickelback out in October.
I'll be very excited to see that. But you know
what I'm more excited about, Michael?
Speaker 2 (30:26):
What's that? Sports! Yes, baby. Sports.
Speaker 1 (30:32):
What a wild weekend. And I know it's Tuesday, but
we do have to recap a little bit. The Chicago
Fire took on Toronto. 4-4 draw.
Speaker 2 (30:42):
Wow. Eight goals in one game. It was beautiful to watch.
Speaker 1 (30:46):
Chicago Fire, really special season going on as it can
currently still sit at third in the East and will
be taking on Messi and enter Miami over at Soldier
Field tomorrow. I don't know how many tickets are left,
but they kept releasing different sections.
Speaker 2 (31:01):
Oh, Messi. When you got a Lewandowski. Yeah. Messi. Who's Messi?
Look at Michael getting involved in soccer.
Speaker 1 (31:11):
If you didn't see the Big Ten SEC Women's Volleyball
Showcase over the weekend.
Speaker 2 (31:16):
It was meant to be a great event.
Speaker 1 (31:18):
Sold out at Wrigley Field, over 40,000 people. But they
didn't account for the dampness, the dew of the situation.
As temperatures cooled going into the evening, it made for
slick conditions on a volleyball court, which absolutely need to
be dry. These D1 athletes were themselves drying the courts,
and they couldn't get the court dry enough for the
(31:40):
second game to go on. So the ladies do what
they did best. They entertained the crowd. They did a
little sing-along. They had a little dance-off. And I don't
think we're ever going to play volleyball ever again at
Wrigley Field. We'll get to some more college football a
little bit later in the show. But right now, U
of I and Northwestern are both undefeated to start the season.
Speaker 2 (32:00):
Look at that. Oh, God. Oh, I can't wait for
football this weekend, man. Oh, let's go.
Speaker 3 (32:06):
Two out of three is the name of the game
for the weekend series for the White Sox and the Cubbies.
White Sox, of course, taking it from the Twins. And
White Sox beat the Marlins, or Cubs beat the Marlins
two out of three games. Cubs in action yesterday.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
Heartbreaker.
Speaker 3 (32:21):
They lost up in Milwaukee. It was a good game
all the way till the end. And PCA, even with
a home run in the ninth, couldn't.
Speaker 2 (32:26):
Bring it back. Just pulled a little too far away.
Screwed my bets. So that's great. And then, Mayors. What?
We got.
Speaker 3 (32:36):
Oh, they're all back in action today, by the way.
Speaker 2 (32:39):
Oh, sorry.
Speaker 3 (32:40):
Cubs back in Milwaukee. Sox at right field. It's football season. Like,
I'm so excited.
Speaker 2 (32:47):
Tomorrow kicks off the NFL season. What's the first game?
It's got to be the Chiefs and somebody else, right?
Speaker 3 (32:53):
It is the Patriots. I hate the Patriots, by the way.
They're back in, like, top list. What is this, like,
power rankings or whatever? Seahawks and Patriots tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (33:03):
Oh, damn. That'll be a good game, though. Yeah. Yes,
I was right.
Speaker 1 (33:07):
See Hawks and Patriots tomorrow, but in just a little bit,
we're going to talk about the Chicago Bears. It's bro
week 2026. Maria's on vacation, so we're getting an extra
dose of bro-iness. Year two of Caleb and Ben Johnson.
Speaker 2 (33:22):
Oh, don't say it like that. With a target on
both of their backs. Can they do it? Don't you dare.
You're damn right they can't.
Speaker 3 (33:29):
Rock 95.5 chicago's rock station the morning mosh pit is
on maria off on vacation and.
Speaker 2 (33:37):
We're hanging out mares yeah it's probably 2026 damn straight
yeah uh should we just jump into the bears i
think we should let's do it.
Speaker 3 (33:45):
I'm wearing all my gear i i'm locked in i
will say i got the rivalry stuff.
Speaker 1 (33:51):
I went to hang out with my brother and sister-in-law
for a fantasy draft, and they said after they saw
your video on the shoes, they hit click.
Speaker 2 (33:58):
Yeah, and the shoes are great. They immediately hit click,
and now the shoes are sold out. They are slick, right?
Speaker 3 (34:03):
Yeah. They just look really nice. And this specific Nike shoe,
the Air Max, are just nice shoes.
Speaker 2 (34:08):
Yeah, it's a great shoe. Going to be great.
Speaker 3 (34:10):
We got a couple storylines going into this thing here. Rome,
have we heard anything about?
Speaker 2 (34:15):
Roma Dunze? Yeah, he was not at practice again.
Speaker 1 (34:18):
I think he'll be fine. I think he's going to
be ready for week one. You know, it's just some
soreness he's dealing with. It's going to be some bumps
along the season.
Speaker 3 (34:28):
You know that everybody's got their guns out for Caleb
and Ben this season, too.
Speaker 2 (34:33):
Oh, yeah. Yes, you take the north. You can't be
giving that back.
Speaker 1 (34:37):
So it's going to be a very interesting season because
I don't think teams are going to allow the Bears
to have the ball last interest like that. That becomes
a whole schematic where I'm not going to give them
two minutes.
Speaker 2 (34:52):
I'm not giving them 50 seconds. I'm not giving them
30 seconds to make it happen. Yeah, Caleb works magic
and it's just not going to be a part of
what it is.
Speaker 1 (35:00):
I also don't think games are going to allow or
if they can't allow, they're not going to play them close.
Speaker 2 (35:06):
You're going to run up to score. So they got
to chase you. But we we.
Speaker 1 (35:10):
Also saw what they did against the Packers in the
playoffs last year.
Speaker 3 (35:13):
So I watched that game over the weekend. I went
back and watched it. You know, we're like they cut
out the commercials and stuff so you can watch it.
Speaker 1 (35:19):
Oh, yeah.
Speaker 2 (35:20):
You can speed it up. God.
Speaker 3 (35:22):
I love watching the Packers lose. And then what do
we got? We need an edge rusher. Is that an issue?
Speaker 2 (35:26):
Our defense looks a little light. I have said this before.
Speaker 1 (35:31):
And there are Bears fans that wanted to fight with me.
I don't think that they focused enough on the defensive
side of things. They absolutely went to sure up the offense,
which they did. And we know that that offense is
going to sales this year.
Speaker 2 (35:46):
Here's the problem.
Speaker 3 (35:47):
Back when I lived in Seattle for years and years
and years, and finally the Seahawks won a Super Bowl,
the reason they won that Super Bowl was because of
the Legion of Boom.
Speaker 2 (35:58):
This is tough.
Speaker 1 (35:59):
Defense is something that needs to be there, and they
need to be in a position where they can get
those stops so that they can be the dominant team
and they can force teams to have to chase them.
Speaker 2 (36:11):
I got to see it.
Speaker 1 (36:13):
I got to see how everything looks week one, especially
against Carolina, which is a very beatable game.
Speaker 2 (36:18):
Right. Oh, my God. And what I see, we have
the toughest schedule. One of the toughest schedules.
Speaker 1 (36:23):
And like you said, everybody's going to be looking to
not get embarrassed by the Bears in the last two
minutes of a game again.
Speaker 3 (36:29):
Here's a couple more things we landed on. Third most
expensive ticket in the NFL.
Speaker 4 (36:33):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (36:33):
Right behind the Eagles and the Bills at number one.
$ 610 a ticket for their average cheapest ticket.
Speaker 2 (36:38):
And they just got that new stadium over there, too. Yeah,
so you're paying for that a little bit.
Speaker 3 (36:42):
And then Barstool's ratings for power rankings has the Bears
at six, fifth Cincinnati Bengals, fourth Bills, third Patriots, two Seattle,
and number one the Rams.
Speaker 2 (36:54):
At all tracks, but I'm just ready. I'm ready for
the season to start tomorrow. Bears kick off on Sunday.
I can't wait. And I got to see how I
do with my fantasy drafts. Caleb and Ben, we know
you guys listen. We're ready for the big game this week. Now,
(37:16):
here's the bit-only plug with Maris. Log it.
Speaker 1 (37:18):
844-955-9550.
Speaker 2 (37:23):
Riot Fest is almost here. And we got three-day passes
if you want to go.
Speaker 1 (37:27):
You know the headliners. Tool, 21 Pilots, Pierce the Veil,
and Alanis Morissette. Going to be an amazing weekend that
I am unfortunately going to miss. So let's just call
it me giving you my tickets.
Speaker 2 (37:38):
Nice.
Speaker 1 (37:39):
But, yeah, we want you to win these tickets, 844-955-9550.
Play fun to the head with us. You only got
two options to take hostage because in case you don't
know the answer to a question, we can save you
and answer that question for you. Yep. Also, we get
shot with Nerf darts still. That's not going away, but
we need you right now. 844-955-9550. B, call a 10. Michael,
(38:04):
what is that number?
Speaker 4 (38:05):
844-955-95.
Speaker 2 (38:07):
There's some Simpsons questions in here today. There's a little
tip for you. I love that. I'm really kicking myself.
Speaker 4 (38:15):
Why?
Speaker 2 (38:15):
What happened?
Speaker 1 (38:16):
Because I scheduled my vacation at the completely wrong time.
Speaker 2 (38:20):
I know, dude. That sucks so bad, right? Fest is
so big this year, too. There's so many great bands.
Speaker 5 (38:25):
Cool.
Speaker 2 (38:26):
Just tool alone. Oh, seriously. Seriously.
Speaker 1 (38:29):
But let's talk to Brett from Okina. Brett from Okina.
What's going on, my man?
Speaker 2 (38:34):
What's up? Welcome to Fun to the Head. What up, Brett?
How was your three-day weekend?
Speaker 5 (38:39):
It was a whirlwind.
Speaker 2 (38:42):
It was awesome, though. We had a Frankfurt Fest out
here in the south suburbs. Oh, nice.
Speaker 5 (38:48):
Took all my kids on the rides and spent a
ton of money, but.
Speaker 2 (38:51):
It was a blast. I was going to say, it
sounds worth it. And now.
Speaker 1 (38:55):
You've got a chance to recoup and get three-day passes
for Riot Fest.
Speaker 2 (39:01):
That's pretty sweet.
Speaker 1 (39:02):
Yeah, this is a huge festival. But, hey, you've got
to play our game first. You've got to answer some
trivia questions. You hopefully won't get a shot by Nerf darts.
And to wrap things up, you can take one of
us hostage if you need a save. Now, Brett, only
two choices. The Mistress of Chaos is on vacation. Who
would you like to take hostage, myself or Michael?
Speaker 2 (39:26):
Let's go with Michael today.
Speaker 1 (39:28):
All righty all right okay let's do this let's get
going question one in the simpsons what is the name
of bart and lisa's babysitter baby sister.
Speaker 3 (39:47):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (39:47):
Please.
Speaker 2 (39:49):
Smallest one. Maggie? Maggie is absolutely correct. Nice. I don't
watch The Simpsons, really.
Speaker 3 (39:57):
I know.
Speaker 1 (39:58):
It's been years, but they're still on TV. They're still
chugging along. Question two. What award is presented annually to
the best pitcher in Major League Baseball? Uh....
Speaker 2 (40:14):
Five. Four. I'll use a save for this one. There
you go.
Speaker 3 (40:19):
Yeah, it's one that the Cubs won't get this year.
It's the Cy Young Award.
Speaker 5 (40:23):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (40:26):
I was going to say their pitching's terrible.
Speaker 1 (40:28):
Yeah, it sucks. They don't have anybody there. All right,
one more question. And you've got the three-day passes to
Riot Fest. In Toy Story, what is the name of
Andy's nervous, anxious green dinosaur toy?
Speaker 2 (40:47):
Oh, Rex. Yeah, you got it, bro.
Speaker 4 (40:51):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (40:51):
You're going to write. Didn't eat.
Speaker 1 (40:55):
Well, you did have to use Michael once with it.
You're all set, man. Three day passes for Riot Fest Friday.
You got 21 pilots. Iggy Pop rise against Alkaline Trio.
All American rejects Saturday. Tool Morrissey. Nas bad religion. And
Afro Man's going to be there as well. And then Sunday,
Pierce the Veil, Alanis Morissette, The Format.
Speaker 2 (41:19):
Taking Back Sunday, Insane Clown.
Speaker 1 (41:21):
Posse's, and William Shatner's also making a very special appearance. Brett,
who's going to be your concert buddy for that weekend?
Speaker 2 (41:30):
My wife, of course. Oh, there you go.
Speaker 1 (41:33):
A weekend away from the kids, making them jealous because
you're at an amazing rock festival.
Speaker 2 (41:38):
Well done. Well done, Brett. You are all set.
Speaker 1 (41:41):
Everybody else, make sure you get your tickets so that
you don't miss out on the epicness that is Riot Fest.
Get your tickets over at RiotFest.org. We just had ACDC
play over at Notre Dame Stadium over the weekend.
Speaker 2 (41:55):
Did you go?
Speaker 1 (41:56):
Did you enjoy it? We want to hear from you. 844-955-9550.
Got some Instagram messages or DMs over the weekend.
Speaker 2 (42:05):
Saying thank you.
Speaker 1 (42:06):
We're always happy to give away tickets and we got
plenty more the rest of the week with more from
the Riot Fest.
Speaker 2 (42:12):
We've got a T-Box as well the rest of the week.
Speaker 1 (42:16):
We are commercial free on Rock 95.5 with three days.
Speaker 2 (42:20):
Grace, I am Maris. I'm Michael. And you will be
a fan of college football by the end of this season.
I like college football. I just run out of time.
I know.
Speaker 1 (42:29):
It's a lot of investment. And it was a wild
weekend to get things going. None bigger than the Michigan
State and Western Michigan drama.
Speaker 2 (42:39):
So Western Michigan is an unrated team.
Speaker 1 (42:41):
How do you say that?
Speaker 2 (42:44):
They're not within the playoff system. They're in a smaller system.
Speaker 1 (42:47):
They have a different playoff that they work towards. But
at the beginning of the season, essentially, I call them
powderpuff games. All of the big market teams are the
bigger schools. They bring in these smaller schools, and it's
basically a preseason for them.
Speaker 2 (43:00):
Did I see an Ohio state score over the week?
It was crazy.
Speaker 1 (43:04):
And then it tends to happen. But the schools that
are brought in, they make money coming to play bigger schools. OK,
so it's profitable for each team.
Speaker 2 (43:13):
They have to be embarrassed.
Speaker 1 (43:14):
But yeah, essentially, Michigan was about to be embarrassed again.
They were about to get Appalachian stated again. Previously, years ago,
they got beat by a small school known by Appalachian State.
Speaker 2 (43:27):
So was Western Michigan like a huge underdog then? A
very big underdog.
Speaker 1 (43:31):
Oh, this is why everybody was screaming online. Because people
were losing money. Going into this Hail Mary moment, they
were down by six. And they toss up the Hail Mary.
And from what I saw, and the replays that I saw,
it looked like as the ball was reaching the end zone,
the clock hit zeros.
Speaker 2 (43:51):
I thought that ball was still rolling out of the
back of the end zone. No.
Speaker 1 (43:55):
Not the way I saw it. And everybody has seen
it differently. And clearly the big 10 saw it differently because.
They put a second back on the clock, and somehow
the magic happened the second time around, and Michigan ends
up winning the game on a Hail Mary, which is
absolutely wild. I think there's a great injustice to Western Michigan,
not just because I don't like Michigan as a football club.
(44:17):
I think it just looks bad when you put your
big team in a situation because we'd have been talking
about this a lot more if Michigan would have lost.
Speaker 2 (44:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (44:26):
YouTube chat's going crazy. They say that Big Ten is corrupt.
And is there a lot of this going on in
college football?
Speaker 2 (44:32):
Corrupt, yes.
Speaker 3 (44:33):
Big Ten, SEC, they kind of do what they want
as far as football goes. You said off the air
to me, you said someone put in a call on
that Michigan game. Oh, yeah.
Speaker 2 (44:42):
It was a Vegas call. Yeah. It's like, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Somebody had the bet made. Hold on, Michael. Allegedly. Yeah,
it's perfect.
Speaker 5 (44:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (44:50):
Well done.
Speaker 1 (44:51):
You know, I don't know what happened in that moment,
but I'm also just not going to allow that to
happen when there could have been a bigger story coming
out of this.
Speaker 3 (45:00):
Joey freaking pucks on YouTube's with you. He says the
clock at zero with the ball still in the air.
I must I must have seen the wrong replay then.
Speaker 2 (45:06):
And they're.
Speaker 1 (45:07):
There's a point where it's like, okay, who's telling the
truth at this point? Also, a rough moment for SMU
and Southern Florida.
Speaker 2 (45:16):
As the power went out. That was crazy. Florida State, sorry.
The power went out on half of the stadium.
Speaker 1 (45:22):
Out for an hour. They couldn't have comms to go
to the ears, helmet-to-helmet comms. They didn't have lights. You
couldn't use the iPads that were there. They had Wi-Fi
that was out. And it's just like, how are you
not ready? But I guess the generator, or not a generator,
power just blew. They did end up getting generators up
so that they could get the lights going. And they
(45:43):
were able to play the game later in the fourth quarter.
Comps came back in, and they were able to use Wi-Fi,
but they didn't want to end up rescheduling the game,
so they went through with that game.
Speaker 2 (45:54):
God, I hope they were using hand signs and stuff.
Speaker 1 (45:56):
You have to use hand signals, pre-planned plays, and all
of those things, but they have that set up where
they're using hand signals in general. And then finally, Arizona
State versus Morgan State, just a lopsided game. It was
70-7 with about 10 minutes starting the fourth quarter, and
both coaches looked at each other and go, go ahead
and knock five minutes off.
Speaker 2 (46:16):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (46:16):
I've never seen that happen before. We've never seen that
happen before, but a big blowout was going on.
Speaker 2 (46:21):
Everybody's just tapping their watch.
Speaker 1 (46:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (46:23):
Just like, come on, you just run the clock. Don't
stop it for anything.
Speaker 1 (46:27):
You don't typically see slaughter rule like that, but it's
just like, run the clock.
Speaker 2 (46:31):
Clock. What was the score in the Ohio State game?
You remember? A lot to a little. It was crazy.
I was like, wow, Marist is happy. I want to
say they were up by about 50. So these are
more just hype games then in the beginning. It's tune-up games. Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (46:41):
You know, there's some games that are more primetime, but...
For the most part, it is just like that. But
I want to know who you're rooting for.
Speaker 2 (46:52):
844-955-9550.
Speaker 1 (46:52):
Are you U of I, Northwestern? Do you root for
Michigan and you're very happy about the win? Are you
rooting for somebody outside of the Big Ten? Go ahead
and text in. Let us know who is your college
football team. We want to know because we've got to
get Michael Suckton.
Speaker 2 (47:07):
Yeah, well, I used to root for the Ducks. I
lived in Eugene, Oregon for a while. Yeah. That was fun.
Ducks are still a good established program. Crack, crack.
Speaker 3 (47:17):
Rock 95.5 Chicago's Rock Station. Queens of the Stone Age
right there. Just saw them open up for the Foo Fighters.
The Foo Fighters. Let's do some text time, shall we?
Speaker 1 (47:26):
844-955-9550.
Speaker 2 (47:29):
You can always text us anytime throughout the show. We
read them all. We read some of them on the air.
Speaker 3 (47:33):
We were talking about earlier the White Sox new stadium,
the possibility of a brand-new stadium over at the Rail Yards.
Speaker 2 (47:39):
Yes.
Speaker 3 (47:39):
I think we are both in agreeance that would be awesome.
Speaker 1 (47:41):
And it's right across from where the Chicago Flyer are
breaking ground on their stadium.
Speaker 2 (47:45):
So it's just a great new district that will be
coming into town, if it happens. From the 708, all
I want is cup holders at the United Center. That's
a big miss.
Speaker 1 (47:53):
And you would think that would be an easy fix,
but apparently when you've got 20,000 cup holders to put in,
it's a bit of a thing to do.
Speaker 3 (48:01):
Let's hear from the 219. Man, a million-dollar dime? I
hope my Beanie Baby values skyrocket again.
Speaker 2 (48:07):
Oh, my God. Yeah, what did you say? Somebody found a.
Speaker 1 (48:10):
A 1 of 24 silver dime from 1890-something.
Speaker 2 (48:15):
It's wild. A million dollars. Yes.
Speaker 5 (48:17):
Crazy.
Speaker 3 (48:18):
From the 847, so if the Sox and the Bears
want new stadiums, why don't they join forces and build
a super-domed stadium? Is anybody ever done? I know the
Raiders used to play on a baseball field.
Speaker 1 (48:29):
Yeah, the Athletics and the Raiders had that. Or was
it San Francisco?
Speaker 2 (48:33):
I think San Francisco did the same thing. It looked
cool for what it was, but no. I hated it.
Speaker 1 (48:39):
You're going to have the field tour up, and it's
just they need– Baseball and football deserve separate spaces right now.
Speaker 2 (48:47):
If you're going to do that, you need a super complex.
Could you do, I wonder if they could do different grounds.
Speaker 3 (48:51):
Like they roll in the baseball field over the top
of the football stadium and then roll it back out
under this.
Speaker 2 (48:58):
That stadium would look so weird though.
Speaker 3 (49:00):
But you'd have to have an under the stadium thing
to keep all the grass growing too.
Speaker 2 (49:04):
Like a, Yeah, they have it. They did it in Europe.
No way, really? Yeah, one of the stadiums in Europe.
Speaker 1 (49:10):
All of their grass goes underground when they have other events.
And then they have the UV lights and the watering
systems to take care of it.
Speaker 2 (49:20):
Bro, that's pretty incredible.
Speaker 1 (49:21):
It's insane, but you also have to dig very deep.
Speaker 3 (49:23):
YouTube chat saying, let's see here, TwitchyFlyer7 says, Miami used
to do it as well.
Speaker 2 (49:28):
Dolphins, Marlins.
Speaker 5 (49:29):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (49:30):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (49:31):
We've got some college football fans. We're trying to get
Michael in on college football. 702 Texas Longhorns are going
to roll Ohio State.
Speaker 2 (49:38):
All right. Okay.
Speaker 3 (49:40):
I've heard a lot of people say the Texas Longhorns
are going to win it all.
Speaker 1 (49:43):
Look, we got the man and kid at QB. It's
not going to happen. I don't believe it. We got
a University of Illinois fan, 630. It would normally be
his alma mater in IU, but it doesn't look like
they've won too many games this year.
Speaker 2 (49:59):
It could happen. And then I got one from the 815.
What you got?
Speaker 3 (50:03):
Good morning to the baddest rock station out there. I
took my daughter Gabby to see Rob Zombie and Marilyn
Manson on Saturday for her birthday.
Speaker 2 (50:10):
Oh, my God.
Speaker 3 (50:11):
That was one of the best concerts I've ever seen.
My daughter was in awe of the stage show Zombie
puts on loud, heavy and a great performance. I want
to shout out you guys for the Wheel of Rock
landing those tickets for us.
Speaker 2 (50:24):
Thank you. Love the show. Mike from Bloomingdale.
Speaker 1 (50:26):
Shout out to Mike and shout out to everybody that
did make it out to see Rob Zombie. We've said
it the entire time we've been giving away tickets. One
of the best produced shows possible. If you didn't get
to see it when Halloween comes around next year and
Rob Zombie is back in this beautiful state of Illinois, go.
Speaker 2 (50:44):
Don't even hesitate. One of the most incredible live rock
artists ever. Let's see here. You want to get your
last minute text in?
Speaker 4 (50:50):
844-955-9550.
Speaker 2 (50:50):
That's 844-955-9550.
Speaker 3 (50:57):
If you have something to say, that's not the way
to do it. Rock 95.5 Chicago's Rock Station. Jeremy Pearl Jam.
Speaker 2 (51:04):
Do you know why that's... What? Jeremy spoke in class today. Oh.
The song's written about a kid who shot up at school. Anyway.
I got it. I'm here. Mad joke. Rock 95.5 Chicago's
Rock Station. Three in the morning. Mosh pit. Just a
twosome today. Bro Week 2026 is on. Bro Week.
Speaker 3 (51:18):
Miss Maria Palmer is on vacation and we are basically having...
I mean, she picked the football week.
Speaker 2 (51:25):
Best time of year.
Speaker 3 (51:26):
Yeah, it is just a perfect time for her to
step away.
Speaker 1 (51:28):
And honestly, I think she timed it out because she
knew what was about to happen.
Speaker 2 (51:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (51:33):
Between college football... NFL starts tomorrow. We got baseball rolling
right now as we get ready for the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (51:41):
Hockey coming over the horizon. Just a few. Basketball right
around the corner. I know, man.
Speaker 3 (51:46):
You got 21 days till the Blackhawks season opener, five
days till Bears, and 43 days till the Bulls season opener.
Speaker 2 (51:52):
Say it again, Michael. Five days till the Bears.
Speaker 3 (51:54):
Five days until the Bears take on Carolina in Carolina.
Speaker 1 (51:59):
And bigger than anything. I was talking in the hallway.
Fantasy football. If you fantasy football, it starts tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (52:06):
Okay. We all have money on the line. I think.
The pools, if I do well.
Speaker 1 (52:11):
This year, I could get $ 2, 500.
Speaker 2 (52:15):
Wow, damn. If I win my two leagues. Hold on.
I thought fantasy football was just for fun.
Speaker 1 (52:19):
No.
Speaker 2 (52:20):
You guys are betting money? Yes. Oh, I'm in.
Speaker 1 (52:21):
Yeah, the prize in our league that's not happening in
this office is pretty good.
Speaker 2 (52:26):
That's good. Yeah. Who's the guy in your team that
works for WGCI that I keep seeing? Oh, Zach Boog.
I'm just going to call him champ from now because
he won last year.
Speaker 1 (52:34):
You're the only one in the office calling the champ
from our fantasy.
Speaker 2 (52:37):
League the champ. You've got to give the champ credit.
Speaker 1 (52:42):
We'll be back tomorrow. We got to make way for Walt.
95 minutes commercial free continues. And at some point I'm
going to go see Unshattered. It's not widely released, but
I'm going to find it. I'm going to see it
and we're going to talk about it. But for now,
we'll see you tomorrow.
