Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hey, Maris. Hey.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Thanks for turning the microphone on. Michael got his delay
you wanted. I swear, by the seat of my pants.
I was over here trying to plug my headphones in.
It's like three seconds left. And you know when you're
trying to put a key in and you can't get
it in? You're like, hurry up! Never been there. Smooth.

Speaker 3 (00:18):
Maris spits on his keys before he puts them in.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Good morning.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
Good morning. It's the morning mosh pit on Rock 95.5.
My name's Maria Palmer.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
I'm Maris. Happy hump day. I'm Michael. Oh, yeah, it
is hump day.

Speaker 4 (00:31):
Halfway through the week, and then we got a three-day weekend.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Ooh, I have a much longer one, then. Yeah, we're
not going to talk about that. We're going to talk
about Labor Day today. I was going to say. Oh, yeah,
we got to talk about some grilling. We got to
get into some grilling. Speaking of grilling, one of our
favorite famous sports players in town is going to be
on Hot Ones this week. Ooh, look at that. We'll
talk about that in sports. Sports player? Well, I didn't
want to give it away too much. A little tease there.
Could be anybody. Is it PCA? Some people call them athletes.

(00:57):
Is it Michael Jordan? Oh, my God. Would you just
do the weather? Is it Conor Bernard? Hit the thing.
Is it Caleb? Michael's obsession with clouds cannot be overstated.
It went up to the cloud. And you can't get
it down from the clouds? Nobody understands the cloud. It's
a mystery. Here's weather.

Speaker 4 (01:12):
My favorite thing about Mikey Teases is he always gives
it away.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
He can't hold it. I can. Mikey Teases. It's like
whenever I buy someone a gift, I'm like, can I
give it to you right now? You would be one
of those. A smoldering day today. Hotter than yesterday. They
say here a high of 94, but when I was
going to get my haircut yesterday and it said 97
in the car I was in, but then said feels

(01:37):
like 102. And that was yesterday. Today is going to
be hotter than yesterday. A lot more sunshine. So if
you're outside today, you're going to be in a lot
of direct sunlight. A little bit of clouds, 11, 12,
1 o'clock. But other than that, just sunshine all damn day. Glory.
But too hot.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
Your hair, by the way, does look beautiful.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
Did you get it done so that you could have
it ready for Labor Day?

Speaker 5 (01:57):
Sure. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
Do you even know what Labor Day is about?

Speaker 2 (02:00):
I know that we get a day off. Oh, wow.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
All right.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
I'm going to tell you what it's about coming up. Yeah.
Are you asking the room? I was going to let
Maris say first.

Speaker 4 (02:10):
I was going to say it's a day off dedicated
towards some of the major workforces.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
I'm thinking about postman. Labor workers. Yeah. Yeah, that's mostly true.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
It's dedicated to the labor movement of the late 19th century.
So to think about how we have a 40-day work week,
we had to fight for that.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
You just have to work. Fight to get it down
to 40? Yeah, dog. Holy moly.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
By the way, we also had to fight to get
the working age increased so that there wasn't child labor
running all around.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
I disagree with that. What about the small parts? Let's
get these kids working. all that energy by.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
The way that stupid 725 federal minimum wage that we
talk about hasn't increased in forever well we had to
fight for a minimum wage as well we had to
fight to get two days off out of our week
fight fight fight yeah just remember things used to be
so much worse but don't worry about a third of
americans have no idea what labor day is celebrating And
that kind of makes sense. We've gotten away from it

(03:09):
a little bit. It's not like the laborers really get
to celebrate. If you're like a lineman, you're still going
out and working on Monday.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
That depends. Construction worker? No. I think most people, yeah,
definitely construction workers have it off. For sure. Unless, I mean,
they could probably choose to work. If you're a union
construction worker. Even in Colorado, nobody's working on Labor Day.

Speaker 4 (03:29):
I would say the construction groups around all of the
highways and interstates around here. they set up their construction patterns.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
To be off. That's good. Because of traffic patterns as well.
I think like, you think Walmart's probably open. Starbucks is open.
I'm sure.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
Every restaurant is going to be.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
And by the way, they get paid less than anybody else. Right.
You know, it's crazy. Labor day off. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
People like us, people that work in air conditioned offices.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
I didn't for years though. I did work at labor
day for a lot of years.

Speaker 4 (03:57):
I was going to say until I get to Chicago,
this is pretty consistent work for me.

Speaker 6 (04:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
Um, Oh, interesting.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
A confused 6% think it's a holiday to celebrate the
signing of the U.S. Constitution, while 4% wrongly believe it
honors the end of World War II.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
Interesting.

Speaker 6 (04:15):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
I just think a lot of people don't think about it.
I never really thought about it until... specifically now. Like
I was like, oh, that's a day that honors people who,
you know, the working class, so to speak, is kind
of the way I thought about it. It's workers' contributions, basically.
I mean, context clues. It's there for you. But if
somebody said like, oh, no, this is about this, I
probably would have been like, oh, okay, cool.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
I do think it should be celebrated more.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
I think we should celebrate every week.

Speaker 4 (04:38):
I mean, but you also have to look at other
holidays now that aren't giving you time off. People work
through Thanksgiving. People work through Christmas. Easter is barely even
an afterthought anymore.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
Or one of your jobs. You know, like when you
get Labor Day off for your first job, but your
second job, you got to work.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
All the more reason to acknowledge Labor Day for laboring
more and more. And labor is going to be arguably
more valuable or less valuable because of the robots.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
Human labor. Oh, Jesus. Is going to be a luxury.
Do you have any plans? Labor Day? Too far off.

Speaker 4 (05:09):
Drafting for Fantasy, going down to Peoria to see some friends.
And then I'm going to try to take a chill
moment for myself. Maybe a concert. We'll see what happens.

Speaker 6 (05:18):
Ma'am?

Speaker 2 (05:19):
I'm probably going to labor.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
Aren't you going on vacation, though? Get out there, do
some work, probably dig some ditches.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
I think you're off all next week, aren't you? Lay
some concrete. Her Labor Day is going to go seven days.

Speaker 4 (05:30):
Maria is going to stare at an empty bag until
Sunday when she's got to figure out what to put
in the pack for the flight on Monday.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
Hey, that's how I do it. You got to have that.
If you have ADHD that bad, you need the panic
to get you going.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
Just because it's true doesn't mean it's kind.

Speaker 2 (05:45):
Michael, real quick, what are you doing? We haven't hit
our pool yet this year. I think we're going to
try to hit the pool right before it closes. Hopefully
no one will be there.

Speaker 7 (05:56):
844-955-9550.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
What are you doing for Labor Day?

Speaker 4 (05:59):
Five-ish things you almost certainly need to know.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
It's a hell of a community service. I'll tell you
that much. Things. All right.

Speaker 4 (06:08):
They had a Alaskan State Fair pumpkin way off.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
Oh, I love these.

Speaker 4 (06:13):
The winning pumpkin weighed 1,436 pounds. Second place, 291. Shout
out to Dale Marshall.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
Well done. What kind of steroids? We need an investigation.

Speaker 4 (06:27):
In honor of the NFL kicking off next Wednesday, Bud
Light has launched a slew.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
Of canned sleeves.

Speaker 4 (06:33):
Better than a koozie or a huggy or whatever you
want to call it because it actually keeps your can cold.
It's insulated with your favorite team available at NFLShops.com, so
go and.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
Check that out. Save yourself and don't go to NFLShops.com. Oh, no,
it's already here. All the new rivalry stuff is out. Oh,
it's here. I'm going to tell you.

Speaker 4 (06:51):
There was a Kentucky ham that went up for auction.
Any guesses on how much this ham raised for charity?
A Kentucky ham? Just a regular ham?

Speaker 2 (07:00):
Just a ham. Just a regular ham. For what charity?

Speaker 4 (07:04):
Um, the charities included, uh, Boys and Girls Club, the
local FFA chapters, Cancer Care, and, uh, other local groups
around housing and education.

Speaker 3 (07:16):
$ 4, 000 for that term.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
Extremely low.

Speaker 5 (07:20):
Oh, low. Really?

Speaker 2 (07:20):
What is special about a Kentucky ham? I don't get it. Uh,
it was at $ 10 million. It oinks with an accent.
It stinks.

Speaker 4 (07:27):
A 16.7 pound ham fetched an astonishing $ 10 million at.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
The Kentucky State Fair. Somebody rich is just going to
write this off.

Speaker 4 (07:35):
I would like to imagine this is the most succulent
ham that has ever produced itself.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
I have the most succulent ham that's ever been produced.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Oh, interesting. Back to differ. I just looked it up.
A Kentucky country ham is special because it's dry cured
with salt, brown sugar, and spices, then aged for months
and even years to create an intense, Savory, deeply salty flavor.

Speaker 3 (07:55):
$ 10 million salty?

Speaker 2 (07:59):
Nothing. It's a lot of salt.

Speaker 4 (08:00):
Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele may be teaming up.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
For a horror movie. Why? They said that they are,
it's going to be a horror comedy. Oh, good. Yeah,
you know them.

Speaker 4 (08:13):
Because technically the Jordan Peele movies are comedies as it is. Basically,
they've been waiting on the right moment. They don't want
to rush into anything. They want it to be perfect.
They want it to be the movie that everybody anticipates
it to be.

Speaker 2 (08:28):
Whatever you want, boo-boo.

Speaker 4 (08:29):
And if you're in Australia, be careful. You might find
a little meth in your McMuffin. Not a planned menu
item from McDonald's, but during a search of a car
on a traffic stop. Police found a bag of fast
food containing several meals, including one cold McMuffin that was
tucked underneath the rest, and it was found to have 3.5

(08:52):
grams of meth.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
No, I just picked this up at the drive-thru, officer. Oh, absolutely.
I didn't hide it. On the way next, we've got sports.
Cubs lost by nine, or... There was a nine yesterday.

Speaker 4 (09:06):
I think the Cubs are doing something very strategic.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
And this is crazy. Ryan Poles says he doesn't know
if Kyler Gordon will ever play for the Bears again. Ooh,
very interesting. Me neither. Let's hear about that next on
Rock 95.5.

Speaker 3 (09:19):
We were the youth of the nation.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
We have since aged.

Speaker 3 (09:24):
It's the Morning Mosh Pit on Rock 95.5.

Speaker 2 (09:27):
Gentlemen, what are we doing?

Speaker 1 (09:28):
Sports!

Speaker 3 (09:30):
This is my favorite part, but I'll let you take it.

Speaker 2 (09:34):
You should go first. Do you want me to go first?
You should go first. All right. White Sox, baby. On
White Sox Wednesday. Wednesday. Wednesday.

Speaker 4 (09:42):
They won over Houston as they need to really win
down the stretch. They're playing mostly over 500 teams leading
up to the playoffs, and they have a three-game lead
over Cleveland right now. Colson Montgomery with a big game,
two hits and two RBIs, and, you know, I just
love watching Houston get beat.

Speaker 2 (10:02):
Yeah, that's true, too. Three-game lead is tight. It's tight.
That's a tight window. Also, they are back in action
against the Astros tonight, 7-10 our time. Cubs lost to
the Brewers yesterday, 9-4. Great pitching coming out of the
shoot from Boyd. Another 9 at a Cubs game? Wow.

Speaker 4 (10:21):
I know.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
What's happening with the Cubs?

Speaker 4 (10:23):
9 innings to love is getting a lot of marketing
out of Cubs right now.

Speaker 3 (10:28):
What if I made you believe it was real, that
romance does exist?

Speaker 4 (10:34):
For those of you not updated, the Cubs are releasing
a rom-com on social media.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
It's going to be on their TikTok on Friday. 17 episodes.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
She's going to make him believe in love. But she's
only 24, which means she's still bangable.

Speaker 2 (10:48):
Thank God. They're over 30. They're hags. Amen. This was
a lot easier to take yesterday when the Cubs had
that massive win. Yesterday was incredibly disappointing. I thought we
had the game in the bag. Boyd pitched his ass
off and then brought in Daniel Palencia, who unfortunately is
an incredible pitcher. I mean, he was the one in the...

(11:09):
What was the game called? Is it like the World
Baseball Classic? You got it right. Yeah, he pitched that
like an animal. He got an injury, came back, and
hasn't been the same since. I think this is... If
this is the Cubs problem is their bullpen. It always has.

Speaker 4 (11:21):
Been messed up. You got a little yips going on
right now. He's got to figure it out before the
playoffs for sure.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
But a split series so far, two more games to go.
Cubs back in action tonight, seven, 10 at Wrigley. And
it's an interesting situation going on with Kyler Gordon. Ryan
Poles was asked about Kyler Gordon and he said, I
don't know if he will ever play for the bears again.
He has a calf injury that is not healing the
way they thought it would or expected it to. These

(11:47):
weird injuries keep popping up in the NFL.

Speaker 4 (11:49):
It's like you got an elite player, you want to
hold on to them, but they're actively not going to
be able to play.

Speaker 2 (11:54):
And you've got a lot of money invested in them
as well. I got a lot riding on Gordon. It
says here he drafted in the second round in 2022
with the blessing of Ben Johnson's incoming staff gave him
a three-year $ 40 million extension in April of 2025. You know,
we hope it gets better, but that doesn't make me
feel hopeful.

Speaker 4 (12:12):
It may just be he needs to be shut down
for a season, really get some rehab in.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
So he can be back next year. Can I tell
you something? Can I bring this all back up? Yes.
We have football this weekend. Yeah, we got college football.
NFL football, too. Next week. Is it? It kicks off
next week on Wednesday. Oh, I got my detrived.

Speaker 4 (12:29):
I love soccer.

Speaker 2 (12:30):
We got college football. We got bro week next week.
That's right. Focus, baby.

Speaker 4 (12:33):
Focus.

Speaker 2 (12:34):
Maria's out. Football starts. What's the game you're looking forward
to this weekend? Ohio State. Kickoff. I just want to
see what the players are looking like. Nice.

Speaker 4 (12:41):
And then I want to check in on Illini and Northwestern, too.

Speaker 2 (12:44):
Let's go. All right. What's the game you're looking for
this weekend, Maria? Oh. H- H game? Oh!

Speaker 5 (12:55):
Hey!

Speaker 2 (12:56):
Just kidding. I don't care about the Ohio State. Go
Buckeyes or whatever. That's rude. Great. 95.5.

Speaker 1 (13:03):
Not to be confused with dad arm. It's morning mosh
pit on Chicago's rock station. And it's back to school season.

Speaker 7 (13:11):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
Indeed.

Speaker 1 (13:12):
And in order to prepare their children for all of
the dynamics in school. Some parents are doing bullying prep,
which means they are straight up bullying their children at
home to give their kids an opportunity to come up
with comebacks.

Speaker 2 (13:27):
Fat ass in your room and clean that thing up.
It's like a verbal vaccination, if you will. That's an
interesting approach. That is weird. Hey, little dweeb. What are you,
some kind of nerd? Well, the thing is, I think, right,
you got to teach them the comebacks, too. So they're
ready for it.

Speaker 1 (13:45):
They're supposed to come up with them themselves is what
it seems like. Some of the examples of lines the
parents are throwing out are, your teeth are crooked.

Speaker 2 (13:56):
Well, that's your fault. Hey, you gap-toothed loser. I got
it from you, Mom.

Speaker 4 (14:03):
I see this going terribly from the kids. We learned
how to roast each other from our friends. In a
fun way. Yeah, you pile on your friends and then like,
When it comes time to throw down, you're ready to go.

Speaker 2 (14:15):
But when you're doing it with your parents, it's just
kind of like, oh, you've been thinking about this for
a while. How much do you hate me?

Speaker 4 (14:21):
All right, there's no love here. And then, like, you
go firing back and forth. I don't see it going well.

Speaker 2 (14:26):
You're so right, Kool-Aid man looking ass. Exactly. Oh, yeah.
I don't want to hear from you, string bean. Thank you. Yes,
I knew that was coming my whole life. How would
you bully your child? Not. At all? No. Not got
to toughen them up? I just hit. I'm teaching them
to fight. Yeah, I just kicked their ass. That's right.

Speaker 4 (14:51):
No, I mean, just in creating a respect level with
the kid and teaching them how to respect others, I'm
not going at that point, no.

Speaker 2 (14:59):
Experts say.

Speaker 1 (15:00):
Because for some reason the experts are involved here, the
goal shouldn't be memorizing the perfect comeback. Instead, kids are
better off learning how to stay confident, walk away, seek help,
and not.

Speaker 2 (15:12):
Let someone else's words define them. Nah, okay. Can we
do this for adults, maybe?

Speaker 4 (15:18):
Teaching kids how to stand up for themselves is probably
the better approach, but not just like straight bullying.

Speaker 2 (15:24):
I like to hit them with the old, your mom
is so fat. How fat is she? Those were so
good back in the day. We used to have, I
can't even remember anymore, but we used to have hundreds
of those things and we would go back and forth.
There was a TV show called Your Mama where they
would insult back and forth and back and forth.

Speaker 1 (15:40):
Your mama's so ugly, she went into a haunted house
and came out with a job application.

Speaker 2 (15:43):
Wow! That's actually a good one. I like that. It's
a really good one.

Speaker 6 (15:47):
844-955-9550.

Speaker 1 (15:47):
How would you bully your child with love? Or hit
us on the talkback on the iHeartRadio app, that little
red microphone in the upper right-hand corner.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
That's even funnier because we can hear you say it. Oh, yeah.

Speaker 6 (16:01):
Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (16:02):
How are you? Yeah, bully us. Pretend we were your kids.
Today we are your children. That's right.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (16:09):
Let us know how you would help them build confidence
and character. Right. Via verbal abuse. Rock 95.5, Caleb Williams
is going to be on Hot Ones. They were just
over at Rape Field. Had a big event over there.
You could actually eat the wings with the sauce on

(16:29):
it from the show. And I'm assuming they filmed this
when he was in town, which is cool. I'd like
to guess so. And Evans is from Chicago, as it is.
Very cool. I can see him wanting to hang around
a little longer. Can't be honest. I'm a little jealous
of him. He came up with this concept where he
just sits there and eats wings with people. What do
you sell that to Netflix for? Like a million bucks
or something? Maybe more than that. To be fair, he's
not just sitting and eating wings. He's putting himself through

(16:51):
physical pain. I agree with that, but still. I'd like
to think he's learned to adjust to this at this point.

Speaker 3 (16:57):
He's talked about it before and he can do it,
but he's like, no, I still.

Speaker 2 (17:00):
It hurts. He keeps a good face when he's doing it. Well, yeah.
If you were to ask Caleb a question, you can
text us in or in all the chat rooms and
video chats we're in right now, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, What
would you ask Caleb Williams if you could ask him
a question in hot ones?

Speaker 4 (17:16):
I'd go completely nerdy after the first time or the
playoff win against the Packers. What was what did it
feel like? Yeah, because you got to be on top
of the world at that point.

Speaker 2 (17:27):
Yeah. What is that feeling inside you? Because it's like
we all, we felt it watching. Did you go to
that one or no? I didn't.

Speaker 4 (17:33):
I was watching TV. No, because it's like watching on TV.
It really felt special. Can you imagine being in the building?
Being the man in that moment.

Speaker 2 (17:41):
What does it feel like? You see the balls dropping
in the air and you're just, you're holding your breath.

Speaker 7 (17:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (17:46):
Incredible.

Speaker 1 (17:48):
I'd ask him how he handles all of the constant
criticism and bullying about his style choices and And how
much the money and the fact that he gets laid
way more than those bullies plays into him handling it.

Speaker 6 (18:00):
Oh, for sure.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
Who does your nails, girl? That's all I want to know.
I would ask him what they did after that Packers game.
Where did the small circle go? Did you go out?
Did you drink? I know they went to a local
restaurant somewhere and shut the place down in the back.
But then even after that, what's the after party after
that Packers game? What do multi-millionaires do? How do you

(18:24):
come down from that? Exactly. Do you keep it going?
Do you go home? Oh, you don't go home.

Speaker 1 (18:29):
No.

Speaker 7 (18:29):
Oh, no.

Speaker 2 (18:30):
I'd be up all night. It's not like they got
games the next day. Like, come on. I was like, Mr. Uberman,
you wait for me out front, please. Hey, Ben, I
won't be in tomorrow. Oh, no, we're all getting a
day off after that. And let's hope we got more
games like that this year. That was so exciting last year.
I don't think anybody's going to let them get there again,
but we'll see. can i ask you a question yeah
uh did you get the chokehold from the rivalries bears

(18:52):
gear or lions gear yeah i just ordered the hats
the hats and i just ordered the hat so check
this out if you're a huge bears fan or any
sports fan go check out the rivalry stuff they just
put out the hats are super cool the shoes are
cool and they won't make more you said once those
sell out i'm pretty sure once they're done they're done
it says monsters of the midway you were right it
says monsters of the midway on the inside it's pretty
sick oh it's all very cool football season right around

(19:13):
the corner baby Just a heads up, Fun to the
Head is next.

Speaker 4 (19:17):
Your chance to spin the Wheel of Rock. We're short
on tickets, but we still got plenty. Short on concerts,
still got plenty of tickets to give away.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
That's next on Rock 95.5.

Speaker 4 (19:26):
Now, here's a bit-only plug with Maris.

Speaker 2 (19:32):
Plug it. 844-955-9550. It is time for Fun to the Head.

And what do you get today? You're going to spin
the wheel of rock. Low on concert stills. plenty of tickets.
Up for grabs, you got Stained and Breaking Benjamin. There's
only two.

Speaker 2 (19:55):
Almost should flip a coin, but coins don't sound cool
when you flip them.

Speaker 1 (19:59):
No.

Speaker 2 (19:59):
A wheel does. So that's what we're going to do
when you join us. What is a wheel but a
large coin? But you spin it.

Speaker 4 (20:07):
Could flip it I'm not gonna that's gonna be a
lot you might break a TV Maria 844-955-9550 be.

Speaker 2 (20:15):
Caller 10 Maria what's that.

Speaker 1 (20:16):
Number 844-955-9550 flip it.

Speaker 4 (20:21):
And now fun to the head on rock 95.5 yeah
don't worry they're using nerf weapons are we speaking with
Dan from Jefferson.

Speaker 2 (20:31):
Park hello hello what up hi Dan how we doing today.

Speaker 5 (20:37):
Tired, but it's just a day that ends in Y, so.

Speaker 4 (20:40):
Hey, we got a three-day weekend coming up, man. We
got to celebrate and get to it.

Speaker 5 (20:43):
I have a three-and-a-half-day weekend.

Speaker 2 (20:47):
Ooh. Jealous. Yes.

Speaker 5 (20:49):
Hopefully you catch up a little bit on sleep.

Speaker 2 (20:51):
Yeah, dude.

Speaker 4 (20:52):
I like that for you. But welcome and thank you
for joining us to Fun to the Head today. This
is the fun trivia game where you answer questions, we
get shot with Nerf darts, and you can take one
of us hostage to provide you a save if you
don't know the answer to a question, which is what
we need you to decide right now.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
Who do you want to take hostage, Maria, myself, or Michael?

Speaker 5 (21:13):
All right. I'm going to go Maria in honor of
last time I won something with her with the 422
contest a few years ago.

Speaker 2 (21:22):
Oh, wow. Take the same numbers.

Speaker 1 (21:24):
Remember to keep me safe and that you do get
one save.

Speaker 2 (21:28):
Don't just let me take the shot, okay?

Speaker 3 (21:33):
Okay, thanks.

Speaker 2 (21:38):
What? Question number one. What does HTTP stand for?

Speaker 5 (21:43):
Oh, God. It's something protocol.

Speaker 2 (21:49):
Well, you're close.

Speaker 5 (21:49):
Tax transfer protocol.

Speaker 2 (21:53):
Wow. Okay.

Speaker 4 (21:55):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (21:56):
Well, I'm impressed. What do you do for work?

Speaker 5 (22:00):
Well, I just started a new job this year, but
I used to be like the tech guy at my
last job. They'd always come to me for phone problems.

Speaker 2 (22:09):
Well done. That makes sense.

Speaker 3 (22:10):
Yeah, very nicely done.

Speaker 2 (22:14):
Question number two. Which band was fronted by singer Robert Plant?

Speaker 7 (22:23):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (22:24):
Two for two. He's keeping me safe. Can't flap Dan today.
Excuse me. Want me to get back in that throat
and help you out, bud?

Speaker 5 (22:34):
No.

Speaker 2 (22:34):
Okay. Question number three. Which band had the huge 1997
hit Semi-Charmed Life?

Speaker 5 (22:45):
That would be third eyeline.

Speaker 2 (22:46):
Yes, it would. Dan, you truly are the man.

Speaker 4 (22:52):
Well done, my man. Well done. And congrats, but we're
not done just yet.

Speaker 2 (22:58):
Oh, hey, what? No, you got them all. He did.
But we got to spin a wheel here, so.

Speaker 5 (23:06):
Awesome.

Speaker 2 (23:07):
We're going to go right into that.

Speaker 5 (23:09):
I didn't even care what the options were.

Speaker 4 (23:11):
Well, let me remind you really quick. It is Stained
and Breaking Benjamin right now. We've still got plenty of tickets. Dan,
let's spin that wheel here real quick. Whoa, whoa, whoa, wheel.

Speaker 2 (23:26):
That was more wheel right there. I felt that all
the way up my spine.

Speaker 4 (23:30):
Sir, this lineup has us either. Theory of a Dead Man.

Speaker 2 (23:36):
Nice.

Speaker 4 (23:37):
And a slew of other great bands, along with Stained
Headlining for the Break the Cycle 25th Anniversary Tour.

Speaker 5 (23:43):
Oh, yeah.

Speaker 2 (23:44):
How can I forget about it? Your favorite. Hinder.

Speaker 4 (23:48):
They're going to be over at Credit Union 1 Amphitheater
on Wednesday, September 23rd.

Speaker 2 (23:54):
And you're going to be in the building. Who do
you plan on taking with you to this one?

Speaker 5 (23:58):
My girlfriend.

Speaker 2 (23:59):
Oh, shout your girlfriend out real quick. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Hoobastank, too. Oh,
my gosh. What's your girlfriend's name there, Dan? Simone. Simone.

Speaker 4 (24:09):
And you're going to a concert. And everybody else who
wants to go to this concert, go ahead and get
your tickets at Ticketmaster.com.

Speaker 2 (24:18):
All thanks to our friends over at Live Nation. Oh, boy.

Speaker 4 (24:23):
This is going to be fun. There's a list of
early marriage outs, Maria.

Speaker 5 (24:26):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (24:27):
Divorced within the first year. Come on.

Speaker 3 (24:30):
Sometimes we get married and we expect that to last forever,
but death is not what does us part.

Speaker 2 (24:36):
You know, Mikey? Oh, don't I know it? Don't you
know it? I was married when I moved here. You
sure were. Not married anymore. And how long were you married?
About eight months.

Speaker 6 (24:44):
Oh, good.

Speaker 2 (24:45):
I'd pull a ripcord quick if something's not working. You
sure do.

Speaker 1 (24:48):
And you are amongst these people who spilled why they
got divorced within the first year.

Speaker 2 (24:54):
Oh, I can't wait to hear this. This ought to
be fun. Yeah, you'll feel less lonely.

Speaker 1 (24:57):
Yeah. He started having an affair 11 months after our marriage.
Once I called said marriage, I then found out from
numerous others that he had slept with someone days after
our wedding, but refused to consummate our marriage for eight
weeks because it didn't work for me.

Speaker 2 (25:12):
Okay. That's interesting. That's really weird. He didn't want to
get married. He's using her for something. Yeah. You know,
that's just not. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (25:20):
Next.

Speaker 1 (25:21):
I read his diary and he wrote that he married
me because I owned a house, made a good living,
and he needed someone to take care of his four-year-old son.

Speaker 3 (25:29):
It was immediately over. I still hate him.

Speaker 4 (25:32):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (25:33):
Yeah. Don't put that in writing. Why are we writing?
And by the way, I don't know any men that
do diaries.

Speaker 7 (25:41):
That's where you're stuck i just think it's a weird
thing like yeah my boy was writing in his diary
last weekend yeah it's weird feels weird you've never journaled
or anything okay uh well it's the same thing.

Speaker 2 (25:55):
I've journaled but not like i'm like today when i
got to work jennifer looked at me.

Speaker 1 (26:01):
To be fair maybe you should get my.

Speaker 2 (26:05):
Feelings out better maybe i'd still be married.

Speaker 1 (26:08):
He didn't know how to use a microwave and called
me fat for knowing how to. You can tell it
didn't last long. And it's also just part of being,
I don't know, a fully grown adult.

Speaker 2 (26:18):
There's a lot of adulting missing in these. You married
a man who didn't know how to use a microwave?
I feel like she should have known that ahead of schedule. Yeah,
I did not find that out. Did you test a stove?
I mean, could he not use a washing machine?

Speaker 3 (26:30):
Maybe he's a toaster oven kind of guy.

Speaker 2 (26:33):
And he should have been able to pop it in
the toilet. Damn!

Speaker 1 (26:38):
He told me on our honeymoon night that this marriage
was a mistake. Couldn't have figured that out.

Speaker 2 (26:43):
I don't know, I guess. Before you actually did the thing. Yeah,
you got to go through. Well, there is a little
bit of that, right? Because even when I was getting married,
I was like, uh-oh, what if, what if, what if,
as you're going up to it and you're like, well,
we kind of made a decision now and everything's lined up.
I guess I shouldn't be having these thoughts, but you
do have them. You got them. You catch it early in,
as long as you caught it. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (27:00):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (27:00):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (27:16):
We had a little court wedding, and that night, he
started laying out rules for how a wife should act.

Speaker 2 (27:22):
I knew then I.

Speaker 3 (27:23):
Had messed up badly. Four months later, I filed for divorce.

Speaker 4 (27:26):
What?

Speaker 2 (27:27):
I'm teasing you. I'll kill you. How about a list
of how you should act in a relationship? How about
you take control of yourself, and then you treat the
other person right?

Speaker 4 (27:37):
I feel like a lot of this is solved by one,
living together, and two, marriage counseling.

Speaker 2 (27:43):
Yeah, that's true.

Speaker 4 (27:46):
Somebody else forcing you to have conversations that you're almost avoiding.

Speaker 2 (27:50):
I will tell you that being in a relationship forces
you to grow up because you have another person. You
have a mirror right there. You got to take care
of somebody else. I mean, I wouldn't be nearly. It
highly depends on the relationship. That's true.

Speaker 3 (27:59):
Because I've certainly been in relationships where since I took
care of everything, he never had to.

Speaker 2 (28:04):
See, I'm always the one that needs to grow up.
And the final one. I learn a lot. Final one.

Speaker 1 (28:08):
I asked for a divorce exactly a year later when
his drinking became his only priority and his family made
excuses for it. In our year of marriage, he lost
his job, drove drunk with my child in the car,
and told his mom every bad or wrong thing I
did so she would yell at me for her son.
It got so toxic, I felt like the only good
thing I could do was walk away.

Speaker 4 (28:30):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (28:30):
You got to get out of that one. That wasn't
the situation in mind, but there is a point where
you go, okay, I've given this person every opportunity to
get better, and they're not getting better, and this is
going to affect my life negatively, and you just... And
some people say, no, you stick it out forever. I'm
just not that guy. You also don't got to get married. 844-955-9550.

Speaker 4 (28:49):
Text us or hit us on the walkie talk back.
Did you have to hit the ripcord early? Did you
have to jump out of a marriage? Let us know
what happened and how it went down.

Speaker 2 (28:59):
Let's do some rock news, shall we? Rock 95.5 Chicago's
Rock Station. The Morning Mosh Pit is on. And news
continues to break about Say Anything lead singer Max Bemis.
He's postponed a series of upcoming acoustic performances after he
was caught sending inappropriate text messages. Irony on the song here.
To underage fans. Maria, I haven't seen the screenshots. Yeah.

(29:21):
What are we talking here?

Speaker 1 (29:24):
He was just being very, very flirtatious and wasn't slick
about it, sliding into DMs. And one of the people
that he messaged was under 18 years old, made it
known that she was under 18 years old.

Speaker 2 (29:36):
He's, by the way, 42. Get it together. He didn't
stop it. He kept it going.

Speaker 3 (29:40):
He even asked if he could flirt with that other
underage girl.

Speaker 1 (29:43):
And then once his subreddit got hold of it, basically
everyone was posting like, oh, he slid.

Speaker 2 (29:47):
Into my DMs, too. By the way.

Speaker 1 (29:50):
Slitting to my jams too wow which must mean he
thinks i look young so if you're wondering what the
skincare routine is is first it's bar soap and a
scalding hot shower and then i get out and i
have my little pump bottle of aveeno but it's not
all the way full so i have to unscrew it
and then i use the straw to like kind of
swill around and get what's.

Speaker 2 (30:08):
On the bottom then i rub that on my face
so Alright, well that sucks because I really like to
say anything. Me too. This is interesting. A publication called
Far Out has written an article about five bands that
hate Green Day. I didn't realize that Green Day was hated.
I didn't think that was possible either. First, John Lydon
of the Sex Pistols. He says, asked by MTV what

(30:31):
Sex Pistols could give a 16-year-old punk that Green Day couldn't.
He said, a big willy. He said they copied his music, basically.
It's all derivative. Noel Gallagher. Number two. Really? Well, yeah.
Come on.

Speaker 3 (30:44):
Noel Gallagher hates Noel Gallagher, so whatever.

Speaker 2 (30:47):
He said they consider themselves a kick-ass rock and roll band.
That couldn't be more kick-ass if they tried. They're obviously
a corporate punk band, and they ripped off one of
my songs. They should have at least had the decency
to wait till I'm dead.

Speaker 3 (30:58):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (30:59):
Interesting. They had a beef with Third Eye Blind at
a K-Rock weenie festival in New York. Third Eye Blind
doesn't like them either. What happened? No one likes Third
Eye Blind either. This was kind of an interesting story. Here,
hang on one second. Make sure I get this right.
Third Eye Blind played the K-Rock weenie festival. However, following
an altercation, Mike Dirt was rushed to the hospital with
a skull fracture after reports that he was struck in

(31:20):
the head. with a beer bottle. Afterwards, Third Eye Blind
bassist Aaron Salazar released a statement apologizing to Dirt for
a joke escalating so intensely as he had too much
to drink. Things had reportedly unfurled after Salazar ran on
stage when Green Day was playing and he drunkenly tried
to tackle Dirt before security intervened and Green Day security

(31:41):
kicked his ass, basically.

Speaker 5 (31:42):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (31:43):
The interesting one is Blink-182 and Green Day. Remember, they
toured together.

Speaker 6 (31:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (31:47):
They did the, what was that? The Pop Disaster Tour
back in the day. Okay. Interestingly enough, it says out here, however,
after a run, when answering a Q & A with
fans in Kerrang, both Dirt and Cool surprisingly tore into
Blink-182 and After they were slyly asked by one that
they must have looked at Hoppus and his band and thought, quote,
we were that good once. Oh, he said the interviewer

(32:10):
asked if they ever looked at Blink and thought we
were that good once. Following the glib room. Do you remember?
Jesus Christ. Sorry, there's just a breath. The thing that
sucks is we have to talk in four minute breaks
and this could be 18. breaks if we put it
together so i'm rushing through the entire thing which i
really hate doing who's the last man uh it's uh

(32:33):
uh smashing pumpkins oh if you want to look it
up i'll post it online the great the blink 182
green day story is actually the really really interesting yeah
i apologize for messing it up welcome to radio ladies
and gentlemen i'm sure we have seven songs to play
that we've never heard before so let's roll wow jesus

(32:54):
So frustrating. It's all right, Mikey. You're going to learn
to talk one day. One day I'll get there. Not today.
Tomorrow's not looking great either. I need a tutor. We
got nerd news on the way next. You've got a
tutor on you. That's true.

Speaker 3 (33:07):
It do be tooting.

Speaker 2 (33:09):
I didn't do it in the room today. It doesn't count.
You locked us in here. It was on the threshold.
You blasted by the door.

Speaker 1 (33:15):
You weren't in the room, but I assure you, your
toot was. Man!

Speaker 2 (33:21):
WCHI HD1 Chicago.

Speaker 4 (33:24):
You are immersed in the morning mosh pit on Rock 95.5.
It's time to dork out.

Speaker 2 (33:35):
Pokemon, I need you to chill. I need you to chill.

Speaker 4 (33:38):
Why is your wallet crying? This one's not the worst.
They're coming out with their first movie in seven years
to celebrate their 30th anniversary. I'm surprised it's been seven
years because when they had movies coming out in the
early days, it seemed.

Speaker 2 (33:53):
Like every two years, something new, something new, something new.

Speaker 4 (33:56):
Um, and this one's going to be, uh, focused around
one of the newer Pokemon, Mimikyu. Uh, he's one of the, uh,
ghostly Pokemon who is, it has an image of Pikachu
because they're jealous of them.

Speaker 2 (34:08):
It's the short version. Oh, interesting. Okay. So not like ditto.

Speaker 5 (34:12):
No.

Speaker 2 (34:12):
Okay.

Speaker 5 (34:13):
No, no.

Speaker 2 (34:13):
Jealousmon. Yes, basically.

Speaker 4 (34:16):
Also, shout out to the trading card groups out there
in Pokemon. Coming up in a big way after a
young Pokemon fan was scammed out of his card collection
trying to get one of the big valuable Rayquazas at
a San Francisco event. After his dad put out the

(34:36):
news of what happened to his son losing his collection,
a lot of collectors from around the country have stepped
up to help the young man rebuild his collection that
he lost. And as the story did spread and make
news waves, he did end up getting his original collection back.
The other party in this is contesting. The story did

(34:59):
not quite go as it seemed, but it's a little
too late. You scammed a kid, guy. Yeah, that's neat.
You're not going to get out of that in any way, shape,
or form. But the dad does come forward to say
thank you to everybody who helped bring some joy back
to his son's life.

Speaker 2 (35:14):
Because I couldn't imagine losing my son. Especially after all
the work and the collecting over years and years. The
amount of money that you've put into it. I have
a card that I was just looking at this morning
that you gave me, a signed PCA card. And I
was like, that's so cool. Welcome to the real world, kid.

Speaker 4 (35:30):
Yeah. You really got to be careful. Like I was
talking to my niece and nephew. I've got them started
to collect Pokemon cards and I'll go through and I'll
be like, hey.

Speaker 2 (35:38):
Put this one aside. Keep it safe.

Speaker 4 (35:40):
Keep it clean.

Speaker 2 (35:41):
And they kind of look at me. I'm like, no, no, no.
Trust uncle.

Speaker 4 (35:44):
So, you know, I know stuff's going to happen. And
like you said, Maria, you do got to learn from
making a bad trade.

Speaker 2 (35:50):
But this was a vicious trade. That's cruelty. Yeah. On
the way. One of the best new festivals in Chicago.
There's a chicken tender festival coming to town.

Speaker 4 (36:02):
Let me tell you about it next on Rock 95.5,
but Maria wants to say... Tender. I will be very
excited when they finally announce what they're going to do
for OzFest. I believe it's.

Speaker 2 (36:13):
2027, right? Yeah, I saw Jack say that the headliners
are picked and they're waiting to announce them, so we're
very close.

Speaker 4 (36:21):
I would imagine that announcement will be coming sometime this fall,
but I want to call this an announcement.

Speaker 2 (36:26):
I'm letting you know because I found out.
Feels like an announcement. Breathe, breathe, breathe. Feeling announcing. Seems
like an announcement.

Speaker 4 (36:34):
There is the world's largest chicken Tinder fest.

Speaker 2 (36:40):
You announced that. When you say world's largest. To Navy
Pier on October 10th. Oh, 10-10. Let's go. Oh, my God.
That's also what I would rate that. Listen to this lineup.

Speaker 4 (36:52):
Hattie B's, Dave's Hot Chicken, Harold's Chicken, Tender Crush, Rico Bene's, Vesuvio's,
Bubz City, Sir Chicken, Three Little Pigs, RJ Grunts, and
a few more. And there's going to be more on
top of that. I would have imagined Portillo's would have
been at the top of this list. But, oh, my God.

(37:16):
All the sauces. Oh, the dippables.

Speaker 2 (37:20):
I love a good orange sauce. Orange? What's an orange?

Speaker 3 (37:24):
It doesn't matter. Any sauce that has the orange tint
to it, that's going to.

Speaker 2 (37:27):
Be my favorite one. Zesty. Sweet and sour. It doesn't matter.

Speaker 1 (37:30):
Whatever sauce comes in the orange color provided at any
given restaurant.

Speaker 2 (37:35):
So she likes orange dye 48. There we go.

Speaker 4 (37:38):
You're putting in your own filler words.

Speaker 2 (37:42):
It's not what I said. I'm going to like the
orange sauce. Damn, chicken festival. Let's go. This is going
to be really cool.

Speaker 4 (37:50):
You got celebrity chef David Choi that's going to also
be there. Cole Bennett and Mattis Buzelis are also going
to be on site as special judges as well.

Speaker 2 (37:59):
I'm in. This is going to be a very dippable event. Yes, Maria.

Speaker 3 (38:04):
Did you know that if you care for chickens, then
you yourself are a chicken tender?

Speaker 2 (38:08):
That's good. I see what you did there. And true.
Very nice. Very nice. I like the orange sauce. We
heard about your love for orange sauce. It's really good.
I want to try all the chicken, though. You can.

Speaker 4 (38:18):
And here's the thing. For the ticket, you get unlimited tickets.

Speaker 2 (38:23):
Chicken tenders is it like a taste oh yeah you
get like a taste oh my god oh now i'm
way more because a lot of times what they do
with these festivals they'll like charge you to get in
then you still gotta go buy every single yeah that's
how food festivals should do that man yeah i'd go
to every one of.

Speaker 1 (38:37):
Them agreed uh cane sauce is a great example of
a good orange.

Speaker 2 (38:41):
That's okay What? I wouldn't call that orange, but those
are my eyes. It is literally orange. I wouldn't.

Speaker 1 (38:47):
The color is orange.

Speaker 2 (38:49):
I've also given up on canes, too.

Speaker 6 (38:52):
844-955.

Speaker 2 (38:52):
Isn't it like a pink? Cane sauce is like a beige. Yeah,
it's more of like a pink beige, I think.

Speaker 4 (39:00):
It depends on who seasoned the sauce that day.

Speaker 2 (39:02):
Oh, she's about to hold up the picture.

Speaker 1 (39:05):
844-955-9550.

Speaker 2 (39:09):
What's your favorite chicken tender, and will you be attending?
See how it's orange? That is orange. That's like a
pinky beige.

Speaker 3 (39:16):
Oh, is it salmon?

Speaker 2 (39:17):
I'm sorry, but it's salmon. Yeah, it is salmon. That's
what it is. That's good. Oh, my God.

Speaker 4 (39:23):
Yeah, I think Michelangelo when I think orange.

Speaker 2 (39:26):
That's not that's not close it's only mayo and ketchup
that's cane sauce get out of here orange what are
you talking.

Speaker 1 (39:33):
About the ninja turtles oh not the sistine chapel guy.

Speaker 3 (39:41):
Those news headlines it's another week can we stay up
for this I would love to, but the news headlines
keep getting me down.

Speaker 1 (39:50):
You know, because they're like the most terrible things you've
ever seen in your life.

Speaker 2 (39:53):
And it's like, why is this in front of my
face every day?

Speaker 3 (39:56):
I can't change it.

Speaker 2 (39:57):
So I shouldn't have to suffer through it.

Speaker 1 (40:00):
Luckily, we're here to put a positive spin on your
news headlines.

Speaker 2 (40:03):
This is Biat News Fierce. How a scenic.

Speaker 1 (40:09):
Enclave at the bottom of the Grand Canyon turned into
an epicenter of deadly destruction.

Speaker 5 (40:15):
Jeez.

Speaker 2 (40:17):
It seems like the world is mad. A lot of
floods and stuff. Just add water. Did they grow bigger?

Speaker 1 (40:25):
Ebola deaths in Congo top 3,000 as virus spreads at
unprecedented speed.

Speaker 2 (40:31):
That's the other thing that's crazy about stuff like that
is the disease in the bodies and stuff. Just... World
is nuts. Congo line?

Speaker 1 (40:42):
Wisconsin dad cited after tripping nine-year-old during youth football game.

Speaker 2 (40:48):
Did you see the video? That was wild. Ran out
on the field and tripped a kid. I need bigger
fences for parents and siblings. parent fence. It's just a
cage the parents have to sit in. Soundproof.

Speaker 1 (41:02):
Blake and Snelling, whose infant was found dead in closet,
pleads guilty to manslaughter. I mean, whom amongst us doesn't
have teeny tiny skeletons in our closet?

Speaker 6 (41:13):
This.

Speaker 2 (41:13):
That's tough, but I like the joke. Was bad news bears. Michael,
you gotta pick the room up after this. I might
have to go to the bathroom, I think. I feel
something after that last one.

Speaker 5 (41:24):
Yikes.

Speaker 2 (41:24):
Weird. It was real weird, bro. That's really weird. Real gross.
I don't like that. My tummy hurt. Let's go to the...
You want to go to Navy Pier for a chicken festival?
Let's do it. All right, let's do that for Pit Happens. Now,
here's the pit-only plug with Maris.

Speaker 6 (41:38):
Plug it.

Speaker 1 (41:38):
844-955-9550.

Speaker 2 (41:38):
It's time to join us for Pit Happens today.

Speaker 4 (41:45):
I love the game where we put you in a
pituation and your goal is not to get kicked out,
tossed out, thrown out, or bounced out by security. And
you can be well on your way to seeing Black
Label Society at Aragon Ballroom on Saturday, September 12th.

Speaker 2 (42:00):
Next weekend. That's wild. That's insane. That's wild. I don't
want to think about that. It's September, guys. Woo! We
need you, though.

Speaker 4 (42:08):
We make the quartet for Pit Happens.

Speaker 2 (42:13):
844-955-9550. Michael is our pit master. Where are we going?
We're going to the Chicken Tender Festival out at Navy Pier.
Love it. Love it. Love it.

Speaker 4 (42:20):
Maria, give me that number one more time, please.

Speaker 3 (42:22):
844-955-95 Orange Sauce.

Speaker 2 (42:27):
We are the Morning Mosh.

Speaker 4 (42:29):
Pit on Rock 95.5 and thanks for enjoying 30 Seconds
to Mars with us.

Speaker 2 (42:33):
Absolutely amazing. Amazing as we are commercial free. Way longer
than 30 seconds. I don't think they told the band.
But let's talk to Derek from Palos Heights. Derek, how
are we doing, my man? Very good, pretty good. How
are you guys doing today? Oh, we're doing fantastic.

Speaker 4 (42:48):
Thanks for joining us in Pit Happens Today. This is
the lovely game where we put you in a pituation
and your goal is not to get kicked out, tossed out,
thrown out, or bounced out. We're going to put you
in a pituation by the man over here, Mr.

Speaker 2 (43:01):
Pitmaster. His name is Michael. Are you ready? I've never
been more ready. Let's go. very excited about the chicken
festival what do we have a name of it what's
a specific name is it like the navy pier cluck
cluck fest or something yes no that's what it is yep.

Speaker 6 (43:16):
Tender i like cluck cluck fest tender cluck cluck fest
all right and we're all going down we want get
clucked the chicken you can have all chicken from great
places and the one thing that stood out in my mind.

Speaker 2 (43:26):
Is it's unlimited chicken after you get that ticket well
i have brought my very stylish and cool uh cargo
shorts with me. And so I see unlimited chicken. I think, well,
this is, I'm going to feed myself for the next
couple of days. And as we're going around to different
booths and stands, I keep putting tendies in my pants.

(43:47):
Just like, you know. About time there was some meat
in your pants. Napoleon Dynamite. Hey, easy. And true. Needless
to say, you're not supposed to do that. Navy Pier
Gluck Gluck Fest. Take it easy, YouTube. Gluck Gluck Fest.
Take it easy, J-Dub. Security is not happy. They see
me stuffing my pants with chicken. They start heading this way.

(44:08):
We need a distraction. We need you to head them
off at the pass. What are you doing and how
are you doing it? I'm pulling my pants down and
mooning them. All right.

Speaker 5 (44:19):
Valid.

Speaker 2 (44:19):
That's a distraction. Bring out the moon. Show your ass.

Speaker 5 (44:24):
Four.

Speaker 2 (44:25):
Wow, not bad. That's a good distraction. And it turns
out that technically I'm not breaking any laws and you
are my friend. And that crack gets us just enough
time to sneak away. Effective cheeks. Unfortunately, you're arrested, but
we meet up later. I have a lot of chicken
for you, so we're good. and you win so did
security arrest him michael security arrested him left us completely

(44:45):
alone we're gone listen i respect anyone that's willing to
show whole and by the way i appreciate you taking
one for the team and helping me get out of
this yeah man that is how you win.

Speaker 4 (44:56):
A worthy sacrifice there uh my man you got the
black label society tickets over at aragon ballroom on saturday
september 12th derrick who do you plan on taking with you.

Speaker 2 (45:06):
To this one i'm gonna take my brother Oh, nice. Nice.
That'll be a fun time. What's your brother's name? What's
your brother? Tristan. Tristan. Thank you, guys. My dad actually
passed away last year. Oh, I'm sorry. And you guys
winning tickets, it's really helped me a lot. Oh, thanks, man. Oh,
I want to give you a hug. Please follow me

(45:27):
on social media, buddy. I want to be your friend. Yeah.
That's awesome. And that means a lot to us just
like it means a lot to you. We appreciate you.
We love you. I'm sorry about your pops. Absolutely. I've
been there. Have fun at the show. It's not fun, man,
but we are here for you.

Speaker 4 (45:39):
Just like we want everybody else to be out.

Speaker 2 (45:41):
At this amazing show.

Speaker 4 (45:43):
At the Aragon Ballroom Black Label Society playing on September 12th.
Get your tickets at Ticketmaster.com. All thanks to our friends
from Live Nation. And keep those phones ready because White
Sox Wednesday is today. And we have some tickets to
give away. So be on the lookout for that. Maria,

(46:04):
happy Wednesday. Michael, happy Wednesday because it's White Sox Wednesday.

Speaker 2 (46:11):
Hell yeah. Somebody's winning out there. Yes.

Speaker 4 (46:15):
The best baseball team in Chicago. 844-955-9550. We've got a
four-pack of tickets for you to enjoy for White Sox Wednesday.
They'll be taking on the Detroit Tigers over at Raid
Field on Thursday, September 17th.

Speaker 2 (46:30):
And we want you to be there.

Speaker 4 (46:33):
There's going to be a nice tribute to Tim Anderson
as he just retired. And more importantly, as the Sox
get ready to head into the playoffs, I think it's
very important that we as Chicagoans support the stronger baseball
team in the city.

Speaker 2 (46:49):
And really make.

Speaker 4 (46:50):
Sure there is a playoff atmosphere at Raid Field all
of September to just let everybody know you don't want
to come here and play in the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (46:59):
You don't want that smoke. Do the White Sox have
a rom-com? that they're releasing on social media. Are you
really about to brag about this? Nine innings to love.
They're a serious baseball team. Yes. Thank you, Marina. Thank you.
Thank you. Yeah, yeah, yeah. The White Sox also have
the Pope on their side, good sir. Yeah, that's true.

Speaker 4 (47:17):
Sox sitting at three games ahead of the Guardians right now.

Speaker 2 (47:22):
And this just went out. Went out. We want to see.

Speaker 8 (47:26):
Baseball in the playoffs on both sides of the city.
One less than the other on the north over there.
How dare you? By the way, Mizroski pitching tonight. Not
that prickly.

Speaker 2 (47:37):
Yikes.

Speaker 4 (47:40):
He's going to be a sad one. Let's make somebody's
day and give them some tickets.

Speaker 2 (47:44):
Rock 95.5. Who are we speaking with live on the radio?

Speaker 5 (47:47):
This is Brendan.

Speaker 2 (47:49):
Brendan, how are you doing, my man? Are you a
Sox fan, perchance?

Speaker 5 (47:54):
I am.

Speaker 2 (47:55):
Oh, we found the right one.

Speaker 4 (47:57):
You got yourself a four-pack of tickets to see the
White Sox in action over at Ray Field. And as
a Sox fan, my man, how are you feeling about
how this season is going right now?

Speaker 5 (48:11):
It started off expecting nothing from them, expecting bomb in
the barrel, and I was real shocked that they were
in the position they're in.

Speaker 2 (48:19):
Absolutely. They have overshot any predictions that they had, and
then I saw someone say yesterday the Sox have won
33 more games than they did last year as of
right now. Isn't that crazy? Wow. Good for them. That's
wild to think about. Mr. Brendan, do you have three
friends that you can take to this baseball game with you?

Speaker 5 (48:37):
Yeah, I'm sure I won't have any problem finding anyone.

Speaker 4 (48:40):
Exactly, because it's a hot ticket in the city. You
get to enjoy the White Sox taking on the Detroit Tigers.
Enjoy that, my man. Everybody else, head on over to MLB.com
slash White Sox to get your tickets today. Don't want
you to miss out on any of the fun on
the South Side.

Speaker 3 (49:02):
Oh, it is so nice to sit here with two
fellow humans allies.

Speaker 2 (49:06):
So you think. Well, you're not going to be on
the other side of the inevitable. Human versus robot war.
News from the front of the inevitable human robot war. Snickers,
come on.

Speaker 3 (49:23):
The company has launched Hunger AI.

Speaker 2 (49:26):
Yay. It's like hungry, but like AI at the end? Yeah.

Speaker 1 (49:31):
A digital Snickers bar that users can copy and paste
into chat GPT when the AI gives strange, incorrect, or
overly agreeable answers. The campaign jokes that these AI mistakes
are not technical problems, but hungry moments. After users feed

(49:51):
the chatbot the digital candy bar, the prompt is designed
to make its replies friendlier and more positive. Adults in
the United States can also take part through Reddit or
Snapchat for a chance.

Speaker 3 (50:01):
To get a real Snickers delivered free through DoorDash. That
is an underwhelming prize. The offer runs through September 20th
or until 3,000 free candy bars have been claimed.

Speaker 2 (50:12):
Could you imagine being that Uber Eats driver and be like,
damn it, another Snickers bar? Snickers. Snickers. Hungry.

Speaker 3 (50:20):
Also, the amount of data they're going to reap off
of you in exchange for what?

Speaker 2 (50:23):
A Snickers bar?

Speaker 4 (50:24):
I was going to say, this is not even good
in a topical sense.

Speaker 1 (50:30):
No.

Speaker 2 (50:30):
It's just weird.

Speaker 3 (50:32):
Also, like Snickers, read the room. People aren't exactly like, oh, yeah, AI.

Speaker 4 (50:37):
My AI acts up a little while every once in
a while. I like to feed it a Snickers.

Speaker 2 (50:42):
That's the angle, right? This is a long way around,
as I like to say. There's too many details here.
It's too. And like you said, Maria, I think. There's
a certain negative connotation with AI, too. It's a weird
marketing idea. Quite literally feeding into it, Snickers. Now, if
I could go to a website like Snickers.ai and there

(51:04):
was a Snickers bar there that I could use as
an AI that would work, like Grok or ChatGPT or whatever,
that'd be kind of interesting. I mean, that's the only
thing I could think.

Speaker 1 (51:14):
If you want to feed a digital being some digital food,
get a Neopets website.

Speaker 2 (51:20):
Man, that was a great time. There's this crazy thing,
very dated, very dated, a commercial.

Speaker 4 (51:25):
You could do a radio or a TV, the picture box.

Speaker 2 (51:31):
Only like 150,000 people will hear your message every day.

Speaker 3 (51:37):
What? We like to do them in 10-minute blocks.

Speaker 2 (51:40):
Your favorite. You're welcome. And that's how they win the
human versus robot war. This was news from the front
of the inevitable human robot war. Get your meats ready.
Labor Day weekend is upon us.

Speaker 4 (52:03):
And I know there will be plenty of people that
will be out grilling this weekend. What is your absolute
favorite go-to when you put something on the grill, Maria?

Speaker 2 (52:14):
I like a good kebab myself. Ooh, a kebab lady. Yeah, yeah,
I'm a kebab kind of gal.

Speaker 4 (52:18):
Chicken steak.

Speaker 2 (52:20):
Chicken shrimp. Ooh, chicken shrimp.

Speaker 6 (52:22):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (52:23):
Any veggies with that or are you just all protein? Oh,
we want some bell peppers, some red onions.

Speaker 8 (52:28):
Let's go.

Speaker 2 (52:28):
You know what? Some yellow onions in there. Ooh, multiple onions.
Multiple onions. A lady after my stomach. Michael, what are
you putting on the grill? Can we have steak? Yes.
I'd love a steak. Oh, yeah. That sounds phenomenal. Gas
or charcoal? Charcoal. Okay. That's how we had it growing up.
We were kind of poor growing up. We didn't have

(52:49):
a gas grill or any of this fancy crap. Dad
was doing the charcoal all the time.

Speaker 4 (52:54):
Technically have both right now, but I like setting up
my charcoal grill. I don't think there's anything better than
chicken thighs.

Speaker 2 (53:00):
You love the chicken thighs. Man, you just let those
things marinate in whatever sauce you got and get ready
to go. 844-955-9550.

Speaker 4 (53:11):
I want to hear from you specifically. What's your favorite
thing to throw on a grill?

Speaker 2 (53:16):
Did you say chili? Chili on a grill. Go outside.
You can if you try hard enough. Go outside. Grilly.

Speaker 4 (53:24):
We've got some of the top unusual things that people
have put on Grill State by State. Colorado, Rocky Mountain Oysters.
Have you had the bull testicles, Michael?

Speaker 2 (53:37):
I have, unfortunately. That's a big thing in Colorado. You
know what? At this point, I'll take them. They are chewy.
How'd you know? Have you had them? I think you've
told me before. Yeah, they're chewy. Weirdly chewy. I'm so alone,
anything to put testicles in my mouth at this point. Like,
what restaurant is this? Yeah, let's go.

Speaker 4 (53:51):
Hawaii is big into ribs or the huli huli chicken.
It's distinctly Hawaiian tropical preparation.

Speaker 2 (53:59):
Like a hula hula chicken? Huli huli. Delaware likes blue crabs.
I know Maria's all about that. There she goes. On
the grill. There's two things.

Speaker 1 (54:08):
That'll make her make that sound. I'll take them however
I need to take them. New Mexico's got roasted green chilies.

Speaker 4 (54:14):
Maine grilled fiddlehead. Fiddleheads are the young curled shoots of
certain ferns. Maine, can we talk to y'all?

Speaker 2 (54:25):
What? What's going on in Maine? It's beautiful up there.

Speaker 3 (54:28):
I know exactly what they're talking about. I didn't realize
that people ate them.

Speaker 4 (54:31):
My grandpa used to call me. Hey, Maine, we got
to talk. Give us a call. 844-955-9550. Not 60, 50.
Montana's doing elk steak. Michael, you've bragged about elk a lot.

Speaker 2 (54:44):
I've never had it. Very healthy. Similar to venison, I assume? Yeah,
good for you. It's a little gamey. It doesn't taste
like cow, you know what I mean? I do, too.
I do too. Wyoming's focus on grilled bison. I've heard
great things about bison. I think bison tastes funny. I
like to say hello to my sons. I hate you
so much. I know. Thank you. Yep. South Dakota grilled pheasant.

(55:07):
That's a small bird. I like small bird. We used
to hunt grouse growing up. I don't know that I've
had pheasant. I've had pheasant before. It's just not a
lot of it. Yeah, like quail. Quail's that way. I
need myself a nice bite. That's how I feel about
your blue crabs. There's not enough meat there. It's too
much work.

Speaker 3 (55:23):
Yeah, but it's in the culture. It's in the Maryland culture. Like,
it's a whole thing.

Speaker 4 (55:27):
Quail culture. Wrapping up the top of the list here,
we got gator in Florida. No surprise there. Gator's just chewy.

Speaker 2 (55:35):
Your gator's fine. I agree. It's chewy chicken. I like
being able to get it if I'm in Florida or
something just as an appetizer, but you're right. It's not great.

Speaker 4 (55:43):
You need a sauce. Alaska is Moose Burger, the most
dangerous burger I've ever read about in my life.

Speaker 2 (55:50):
No knuckle, huh? I can't. A little one? I can't.

Speaker 5 (55:56):
844-955-9550.

Speaker 2 (55:57):
Text us your favorite grilled eats. How was that moose knuckle, Michael? Well,
I haven't had the knuckle. I've had the actual meat,
and it was, again, a little chewy. I've had the tracks.
The moose tracks. Oh, God, those are good.

Speaker 1 (56:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (56:15):
Until next time. Oh, yeah, Texas, 844-955-9550. Text time.

Speaker 5 (56:19):
844-955-9550.

Speaker 2 (56:19):
Rock 95.5, Chicago's Rock Station. We're going to be a
real radio show one day. My hand wasn't ready. I'm sorry.
I'll ready your hand for you. All day you can
text us. And we will read them on the air.

(56:41):
Let's go to the first one here. I love getting
these text messages every day. From the 606, loving the
new guy Mikey. Check it out. He'll get better at
speaking in the mic soon. Don't let today's rock news
get him down. I hate you, dude. I'm going to
beat myself up about this all day. That was one
of the worst trip and falls with my mouth that
I've ever had. I think we all have flubbed today, too,

(57:03):
so it's fine. You'll have worse soon enough.

Speaker 1 (57:06):
From 219, we were talking about how a bunch of
bands don't like Green Day for whatever reason.

Speaker 2 (57:11):
209 says, I was once.

Speaker 3 (57:13):
Told that you never really know what your favorite artists
are like unless you tour with them. Sounds like Green
Day is hard to tour with. Still like them, though.

Speaker 2 (57:19):
You want the end of the story? Yeah. Tom came
out later and he said that it wasn't about Billy
or Mike Dern. he said he called he said that
trey he thought how do i say this nicely i
can't know if i can say it he basically said
that he thought that there was something wrong with trey
and he was that difficult to be around all the

(57:41):
time like breaking things throwing things running around loud non-stop
like a child is kind of the way he said
it i'm saying much nicer than he did not very
trey cool no not very cool at all but that
was that was the beef that blink and green day
had i guess We.

Speaker 4 (57:54):
Were talking about parents bullying their kids before they go
back to school. And then 353 said, and your mama's
so dumb, she tried to make an appointment with Dr.

Speaker 2 (58:06):
Pepper.

Speaker 4 (58:06):
So if you say this to your child, are you
talking about your wife or who are you.

Speaker 2 (58:10):
Talking about there, bud? More like mama jokes. From the 425,
Michael needs a hug from Maris. You're right. I do.
I feel so bad about that.

Speaker 3 (58:20):
I apologize for sucking earlier in Rock News.

Speaker 2 (58:26):
Get over here, Maris. Get over here. Maria, I don't
know why you hate this so much. This is nice. Hey,
how about tilt your head a little bit?

Speaker 6 (58:33):
Kiss him.

Speaker 2 (58:33):
No, no, no.

Speaker 6 (58:35):
Kiss him.

Speaker 2 (58:35):
Not when you're here.

Speaker 6 (58:36):
Kiss him.

Speaker 2 (58:36):
All right. From 773.

Speaker 1 (58:39):
Reported on the Citizen app last night from the north side,
person in bear costume passed out.

Speaker 3 (58:44):
Palmer, are you okay?

Speaker 2 (58:47):
Yes, I am. Oh, my God. If that was you,
I would be, that would make my year. Oh, that's
not very kind.

Speaker 6 (58:52):
Well, I mean, not, but I just mean, like, like,
all right, well, hypothetically.

Speaker 2 (58:56):
It'd be funny. For Margarita Maria. We're talking about grilling.

Speaker 4 (59:02):
626 says either slapping a ribeye down, salt and pepper, or...
Montreal steak seasoning. That's the clutch seasoning right now. It
goes on everything.

Speaker 2 (59:11):
Yeah. Or some carne asada. Oh, my God. 626. Or
marinated chicken thigh.

Speaker 6 (59:17):
626.

Speaker 2 (59:17):
Where is this grilling going on in the 626? I've
got to find it. Hello. I'm coming over for the grill.

Speaker 3 (59:23):
Get me in the know on the Montreal steak seasoning.

Speaker 2 (59:25):
What's in that? What's different?

Speaker 4 (59:27):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (59:27):
I'll bring some in tomorrow. 626 is Los Angeles. I
know Lawry's. Oh, come on. We're going to go to
California for those. All right. I'm going to need something closer. Michael.
Let's see. From the 641. Wait. Are we talking the
sauce or are we talking the tenders themselves? I make
both of them at home. The sauce depends on what
I'm craving. Usually mayo, ketchup, a bit of mustard, and

(59:49):
Cholula hot sauce. Interesting.

Speaker 1 (59:52):
Yum.

Speaker 2 (59:52):
There's a tender festival coming to, a chicken tendy festival
coming to Navy Pier.

Speaker 3 (59:56):
And 630 says, ever had grilled snake?

Speaker 2 (59:58):
A negative. No, I have not. I've had snake. Again,
it's very much like alligator. It's just because you can
say you ate snake. It's not that great.

Speaker 4 (01:00:06):
And then finally, from 847 down in NOLA, we grill oysters.

Speaker 2 (01:00:11):
Cheese, garlic, butter, hot sauce, barbecue, bacon sauce. Maybe I'd
like it better if it was grilled. I bet you
would like some Oysters Rockefeller. Yeah. Is that what it's called?
That's one of them. We've got to try that next time.

Speaker 3 (01:00:22):
Oysters Rockefeller is, I think it's butter, garlic... Parsley and
Parmesan cheese.

Speaker 2 (01:00:28):
You still got a slurp? They bake them.

Speaker 4 (01:00:31):
Well, thank you guys for texting 844-955-9550. We appreciate hearing
from you guys at all times.

Speaker 2 (01:00:37):
Try to talk in tech. Wow.

Speaker 8 (01:00:42):
Nirvana.

Speaker 2 (01:00:45):
Lake of Fire on Rock 95.5. A band we're familiar with.
A song we might not be. I love that. Yeah.
Our music sounds great lately. Shout out to Walt. Yeah. Seriously.
What a genius. Working hard all the time.

Speaker 3 (01:00:58):
We really are Chicago's rock station.

Speaker 1 (01:01:01):
And we like that you enjoy listening to Chicago's rock
station and interacting with it via the talkback on the
iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 3 (01:01:09):
It's that little red microphone in the upper right-hand corner.
You press it down. You say your thing. It sends
it in to us in the studio. It's essentially a
voice memo, but we like to do it in walkie-talkie form.

Speaker 2 (01:01:19):
Because it's fun. We have fun here. Indubitably.

Speaker 3 (01:01:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:01:22):
We got two that we can play back.

Speaker 2 (01:01:26):
Yeah, some of them get a little... If you want
to be sure you get played back, try not to cuss. Yeah,
don't cuss. Hey, by the way, Odin, you're killing me, man.
I love Odin. I just wish he wouldn't cuss as much.

Speaker 4 (01:01:36):
We definitely have an Odin in here. He's an OG
with our talkback.

Speaker 3 (01:01:40):
Indeed.

Speaker 2 (01:01:40):
Before we get to Odin, here's our first one. A
little delay here. Oh. Breaker Breaker 353 reporting from Dublin.
First time listener, long time caller. Oh boy, are you
guys done it. Now you're never getting rid of me. Bye.

(01:02:03):
Good sir. Bye. Juro. In Dublin. Always. Always send a
message in. And now for some wise words from Odin.
Love Odin. Also, a good morning, boys, and a good morning, Maria.

Speaker 6 (01:02:20):
I hope you guys are having a fantastic Wednesday.

Speaker 2 (01:02:25):
It's Wednesday, right? I believe it's Wednesday. I should know this.
Yesterday was Tuesday, right? All the days are starting to
blend together. Me too, Odin. Carry the one. What day
is today? I like that. I like that. For sure.
It's White Sox Wednesday, baby. Yes.

Speaker 4 (01:02:46):
We gave away a four-pack to the hottest team in Chicago.

Speaker 2 (01:02:50):
The best baseball team in Chicago.

Speaker 4 (01:02:52):
And the only baseball team in Chicago without a rom-com
dropping on Friday on social media.

Speaker 2 (01:03:00):
Yeah, I wish we could drop some pictures on the
nine innings to love.

Speaker 1 (01:03:05):
Do you think she'll do it? She'll convince him that
romance is real?

Speaker 2 (01:03:10):
Hey, Cubs, we need a big win today. Another one.
You got to counteract this. The pain out here as
a Cubs fan with these stupid rom-com thing is too
much to bear. White Sox fans are kicking my ass.
Mike is going to watch the entire series. I'm going
to get very into it. I hope there's a scene
where she goes, helmet stays on. Oh, my God.
