Being a cadet in Starfleet Academy means being open to
the people around you.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
Starfleet Academy, the latest in the star Trek family, has
come under a lot of scrutiny. Professional critics across the
board seemed to love the show. Fans, on the other hand,
exercising their opinions on social media, are rather disappointed. We're
now in the thirty second century, with the first group
of new Starfleet cadets in over one hundred years. Holly
Hunter appears miscast as the Chancellor of the Academy. Her

role basically to forge a group of young cadets, each
one of them with odd personality ticks into Federation officers.
The starships look more like shopping malls from the nineties,
and the only real fun is seeing Robert Piccardo return
as the computer generated doctor who served on Voyager, and
of course the appearance of the great actor Paul Giamatti
as the chief villain. Whether you agree with the obvious
woke approach or not, Starfleet Academy is definitely a series
