Speaker 1 (00:00):
There's two locations of serviy on magn you and Old Tree.
The head coached up like a high school beginning his
second year. That sounds good, doesn't it. He had an
excellent first year. That'd be Brian Moore and he is
live right now on the hotline. Good morning, coach, more.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Good morning d Mar Are we all?

Speaker 1 (00:15):
I'm good, buddy Roman. I'm sitting here in my own world,
fixed to do the Brave report. I look up as
ten after I went Bengo.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
Man is ready to go to work. How was your
four coach?

Speaker 2 (00:25):
It was great. We had a good time. It was
good to take some time off and be with family.

Speaker 3 (00:31):
It was good, good, good, All right, get us up
to date on them dogs. What are we doing? What
we've been doing? Give us a little rundown?

Speaker 2 (00:40):
Been a busited you? First off? It's been It's been
a lot of fun. I mean, we we had several events.
Went to Auburn, but we may have fought that morning
or around that time. That was maybe the second week.
And then after that we went to u A b

(01:02):
played one game, got rained out, so that wasn't that
was a long trip for a for a single thirty
minute game. But then we went to Foley, uh and
and did a two day event there and spent the
night and you know, stay in the hotel room with
our team and that I think that was a great
bonding experience. We went through the beat together, went to

(01:23):
a movie, had dinner together. I think all those things
are really important. And then it took the week off
and really our attention turns to eleven eleven now, you know,
having these these two competition weeks coming up. We turned
to eleven on eleven and we're excited about that. So
you know, really, de Mark, we're over halfway done, which

(01:45):
is crazy. We've had four weeks in June. We'll have
three in July, two of which we'll compete.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
Then we'll have All Star Week and we'll go to
Montgomery for our clinic uh and then we'll take a
week off before we start fall camp. So football here,
Football is here.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
Brian Moore open like a bulldog football coach with us
this morning on the Hamilton's outline. You're on the mark
twelve minutes past the hour on a beautiful, gorgeous Monday.
Jeffery Craig, what's that temperature out there right now? And
you're supposed to know that. I know you don't off
the top of your head seventy two degrees a man says,
it's perfect out there.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
All right, coach, let me go back, all right?

Speaker 1 (02:19):
The trip to Fairhope, So what you took your whole
team down there to just have a is that a
practice kind.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
Of What was that about?

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Yeah? So basically they do a fully host a big
big seven on seven. So you know, a lot of
the really good teams in Alabama or is there and
so we took twenty eight kids. We played a team
out of New Orleans, which is pretty cool. We played
some people we don't normally get to play from South Alabama,

(02:47):
played Baker down there and some of those guys. So
that's nice to be able to play different people. And
so it's the two d We played four games on
day one and then three or four more on day two.
Think we again played in the afternoon on a Wednesday,
I think I was a twenty fifth of June. And
then went and did some team event type things like

(03:08):
I said, went to a movie and had dinner together,
and uh we did. We did make it down to
the beach. I wanted to make sure the kids, you know,
maybe some of ours hadn't been to the ocean, so
we wanted to go, uh and and and go there
for a little bit. But it was a great deal.
All our coaches went, you know, and and you sort
of get to you know, build a relationship in different

(03:28):
ways when you do that kind of stuff, you know,
maybe a little bit deeper, a little bit slower pace
because you know, when we're practicing and in school and meeting,
I mean, there's not a lot of you know, social
type time were we're pretty uh, pretty busy and and
uh so this was a way for us to really
you know, hang out, get to know each other a
little bit better and uh and hopefully build an experience

(03:52):
maybe that some of our players have not had. So
uh it was it was a good event and uh
and actually we traveled a good bit in the month
of June. Uh, we're home the entire month of July.
We've got today a ninth grade and and GAV seven
on seven. We'll bring in some a little bit smaller schools.

(04:13):
Actually at least God is one of them, which is
really cool that we can now compete with them in
the summer. Yeah, they'll they'll play our JV and I
think Beulah is coming and and Lynette's coming. I know
all all the head coaches pretty well. And uh, and
then our ninth grade La Range will come in. Uh,
Auburn and Central will come in and play today. So

(04:35):
it's a good field. We'll we'll play it through about
one o'clock today and so our older guys will lift
this morning and they'll do a team run and go home,
and then all of our younger kids will stay and compete.
I really believe in those you know, younger guys being
able to have seven on sevens as well. So we'll
do that, and then tomorrow we'll have an O t
A with Book at the Washington. They'll come in and

(04:58):
we'll lift before that, and then we've got to right
today and then next week Valley comes in uh to
do a full leven eleven game. Of course, you know
we've talked about this on your show. We you know,
you can't really tackle or anything, but but at least
you know, be able to get your lineman involved now.
And then Oxford will come in next Thursday, and so
we busy, busy two weeks for sure. UH. And then

(05:21):
like I said, we'll have All Star week that third
week and and uh and then fall camp will be
on us all right quickly, it's gotten here.

Speaker 3 (05:27):
Excuse me code for interruption. It sounds like you.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
Might have your schedule laid out pretty good.

Speaker 3 (05:32):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
We may check that twice with your eyes doted and
tea's across. Brian Moore, O black football coach, was we're
going through July and what we've done prior to this.
Now that those camps they're eleven on eleven that are
you practice together, coach, kind of take us through what
you do you know when they come in. So you
you mentioned some teams coming in, what will you do

(05:53):
like least gott what we all do.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
Well today will just be our our skill guy, So
it'll be okay, Mark, it'll be touch football today, tomorrow
and and uh and really next week so tomorrow will
do more of what I call a scripted O T
A so linemen will be involved, but there will be
group sessions. Uh. So like an example that will be

(06:16):
like we will we'll throw one on ones against their
dbs uh for Booker T and then our lineman will
be getting some past pro work. Again, you have to
be careful you are wearing helmets but you can't wear
anything else, and so we'll have to be careful. But
our our kids learn how to practice that way now, uh,
And that really all kind of trickled down from the NFL.

(06:37):
That's how they do it. And again they call it
OTAs organized team activities and so like you know, the
Atlanta Falcons will practice against the Chief or whatever, and
so we kind of use that same model and have
really since I was here before with Coach Blackman, we
always went to the Enterprise and did that and had
some events like that. So this week we'll be more scripted.

(06:58):
Now next week when we Valley and we play Oxford,
it'll be a full ball game. So that will give
our coaches an opportunity to be in the box. Youth
headsets call plays. There's no scripting. Your your special teams
are are happening, but they're dead. So like for example,

(07:19):
if you know, if we're kicking off against the Oxford's
return team, you know we're gonna kick that ball off.
I'm the official, and so basically we'll kick that ball
off and I'll feel the play pretty quick in the
rep so like obviously we're not gonna run down there
and tackle a kick returner. You know, none of that
kind of stuff's gonna happen, but at least we're operating
through our personnel. You know, we're going through. We just

(07:42):
don't want Benjamin Russell to be the first like full
operation that we go through, right, We want several trial
runs as we prepare for that game one. So it's
just another opportunity to go through. We actually went to
Oxford last summer, and which was good for us because
you learned demark and those not only with your person
mail and with your team, but you learn where your

(08:04):
coaches need to be. So like for example, last summer,
coach back Ands and coach Massive, we're in the box
calling play. They were up top. Well, I didn't think
that was best for us, and we ended up with
both coordinators on the fielding game. So like there are
things that you learn prior to game on one, it
can be very valuable for you. And that that's me too,
and so it's really good to see and we're excited

(08:26):
to get to some eleven or eleven.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
Okay, that's good. And you got like sound like you
had three or four set up, is that right?

Speaker 2 (08:32):
That's right? Yeah, So we we try to do too many.
You know, I think there is a pitch count on
those kinds of things, and obviously at the end of
the day, we're always hopeful. I talked to the other
head coach and we're healthy, you know, and that that
they got the work they wanted. We film all of that.
We don't share that, and it's kind of an agreement
between us and the other coach. Hey, we're not going

(08:52):
to share this film, but we film everything and and
and share it with our players and we're able to
use that as good feedback and again get us ahead
for fall camp coming up.

Speaker 1 (09:02):
All right, Coach Brian Moore with aus So like a
bulldog football coach six nineteen seven, nineteen Eastern d Mark,
Jeff and Derek in the Orthopeda Clinic studio. Excuse me,
you're on the mark presented to you by the Orthopedic Clinic.
We're talking a little July football here with a dog
head football coach. All right, coach's let's talk about some
names if you don't mind. I know, Kobe Keys your quarterback.
You lost a lot of players from last year, but

(09:23):
you got some good ones coming back. Give me some
names this defense offense. Just throw me some names. It'll
be playing coach. If you don't mind, it's sure kind
of yeah, you know, if you don't mind.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
We got, you know, more coming back on offense than defense. Defense,
ten of eleven starters are gone, which is a major deal. Now,
we rotated guys, so we you know, we prepared for
some of the you know, obviously with JB and you know,
and really developing our kids and trying to get them
real Friday night reps, special teams included. But offensively, we
were returned three linemen. We actually lost seven senior offensive

(09:57):
linemen that were really good players, you know, percent and
Jackson Lee and Keelan Jones and some of those guys.
David Miller. We have some good ones up there that
are gone, but we we bring back three that played
a good bit. So Eric Mason and Bear's Whitlower really
are too. Both of those are college players, you know,
with college offers. Both kids will both of them will

(10:19):
go three twenty plus. I mean, they're they're a good players. Uh.
And then we bring Julian Pritchett inside. He played tight
end for US last year. And I met with his
mom and dad really after the Christmas break, and I said, look,
if he wants to sign. You know, I think he's
gonna have to play tackle in these game. Weight he's
gained thirty pounds. He's up to about sixty five to

(10:39):
seventy good weight, He's long about six four. He'll play
left tackle for US. UH and we're kind of rotating
guys through at the center, UH and and the other
guard position. So we feel good about I really feel
good about our offensive line. A little bit of inexperience,
but again, bringing three guys back has been huge. Of course.
You know, really our headliner, I would say on our
phone fall team is Blake Johnson, the fullback. He is

(11:03):
such a multiple piece. He's gotten in really good shape
and so we're really excited about his senior year. We've
been careful about him in the summer. A little bit.
UH running back will be a strength for our team.
Jordan Waite comes back. C J. Johnson, both really good players, UH,
c J. Pink, Jalen Nelson. So we've got some pieces there.
We think we'll go four d UH at running back,

(11:26):
and then our receiving group we like a lot too.
Jalen Washington kind of is the headliner. Ben At young
Andre van uh In Leland Bale. We got uh I
think six total seniors that will play some uh at receivers.
So we're excited about that, and we feel like we'll
be better on offense than we were here ago sort

(11:46):
you know, certainly Kobe Kving a year older and being
a junior will make a big difference, you know, with
his experience and so so he's had a really good summer.
And then, uh, defensively, I still think a strength can
be already line. We lost obviously probably the best defensive
line I've ever had personally, you know, three really really

(12:06):
good players there and other rotational pieces to help. But
Josh Davis comes back, He's played a lot. Really our
our senior leader is TJ. Thomas the defensive end. He's
a lone starter that returns the linebacking room. You know,
they're better, I think, or a little maybe a little
bit deeper. You know. Losing ty Hudson and Tyler Moore

(12:26):
was massive for us. But having Leakedrick Berts and and
then Tray Stones you know, came back to like after
being gone a couple of years, was really big. Caten Harris,
uh so we feel good about that. And then Elijah
Odin is kind of a he's about six four, two
hundred and ten pounds. He's a what I hope he
plays like it, but will remind you of LaMarcus role

(12:48):
as far as his wing and the way that he
runs around. Hopefully he'll be a five star All American,
but will see he'll be a junior. Uh. And then
our dvs are all news. So really for us this
summer so far with our with our secondary has been
really big because that's really what you get the most
out of the month of June, you know, is having
you know, playing seven on seven's and going to do

(13:09):
this stuff because those guys can gain a lot of experience.
So Jamal Griffin's back there at corner. Brandon Howard are
the really the two corners. Uh, Jay Battle is over there,
and then the safetyes Xavier Thomas who played a good
bit last year. Uh, he'll come back. Antonius Peters is
back there as well. Uh. To Cody Jackson, and then
our nickel. One of the biggest, you know, the biggest

(13:33):
shoes to feel is Carson Moss leaving.

Speaker 3 (13:35):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
It was a great I think three year guy, really
good player. But Norman Matthews will do that. And then
we'll have some younger kids that'll back him up at
the nickel spot. So again, uh, and then and then
probably you know, uh, one of the best specialists in
the state, Reech Beasley will handle all of our kicking duties,
including punting and uh. He had a great sophomore season,

(13:57):
ten of eleven on Phil Golds last year, made all
of his extra points. So Reese is a weapon. He'll
be a college kicker. And so for us, you know,
you're kicking them on the end zone on kickoff and
you're making pats and most of your field goals. That's
that's a really good high school player. So you know,
we're excited about him as well. So and then Kim
Railey as a snapper, you know, that's another piece that

(14:18):
concerns you. Coach Prescott has done a good job with
him getting him ready. He came, he snapped force last
year as a junior and will return as our snapper.
And I think can do it in college. It'll be
a walk off position, but if he wants to do it,
he'll have an opportunity. So again, feel good about its
just inexperienced d markus. What has been through the month
of June is sort of stripping back, you know, making

(14:41):
those kids understand just because last year was a good
year doesn't mean a whole lot, you know for this year,
because so many of those guys are gone. You gotta
so we went back. We talked a lot last summer,
you know, about going back to that practice field and
you know, getting on that old heel and sort of
getting back to our roots. And we've done that again,
and I think our kids that really responded to it.

Speaker 3 (15:01):
What are you saying, Jeff, I didn't hear dowdelle I
didn't either. It ain't team without Addell on her.

Speaker 2 (15:10):
We do?

Speaker 3 (15:11):
You know?

Speaker 2 (15:11):
Alex Doudell's son is with us Brighton. Okay, he'll be
a junior receiver. Been a little banged up all summer,
but full clearance now with his knee, so he's still right. Yeah,
you know that's a good point. You gotta have one.

Speaker 1 (15:25):
He leaves.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
You gotta have something right exactly.

Speaker 3 (15:28):
Guys, Derek Jiffy got any questions so far? No, no questions. Yeah,
I am too. Hey, we got less than a month.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
You got median days coming up? Anything else you want
to mention? I know you got to get out.

Speaker 2 (15:41):
But yeah, you know we've we've we've got our golf tournament.
Got twenty eighth, does you lie? Coach Coach Montelles kind
of hitded that up. That's an athletic department fundraiser and
I think he's up to like twenty something teams. So
we appreciate the people that have signed up. It's gonna
be Robber Trent and we appreciate them, you know, accommodating

(16:02):
us and helping us out, giving us a break on
fees and that sort of thing. So Craig's done a
great job. And you know we taught last time de Mark.
But our new superintendent, doctor Davis is in office now
and he's doing a great job and glad to have him.
And you know, he and his wife are getting settled
and getting you know, the house and the move and
all that.

Speaker 3 (16:23):
I was where I was one of my clients.

Speaker 1 (16:26):
I was visiting and uh, they're part of the Treasure
Hunt Furnchure store and.

Speaker 3 (16:30):
He'd been out there that morning and they said, shopping
for furniture. So he's on the move locally. I love it.

Speaker 2 (16:38):
Hey, and he's he's you know, he says, hey, you
know who do I need to go see? You know,
and so it's been good. D Mark kind of like
when I got here, you kind of get me around
and showed me, you know, to see people and appreciate that.
And and I'm trying to kind of help him do
the same thing.

Speaker 3 (16:53):
So good.

Speaker 2 (16:53):
It's good to you know, be a year in and
be able to help somebody do that and you know,
sort of reunite with some of the people in our community.
So but he's gonna do a great job. I'm really excited.

Speaker 3 (17:02):
Good good. How's your family, boys? And Lind's how they
everybody doing great?

Speaker 2 (17:06):
Parker's up this morning, you.

Speaker 3 (17:08):
Know you're already Hey you Parker.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
Yeah, it's a it's an early morning for him. But
boys are good and and Lindsey's good. So uh again,
we're we're just excited about here.

Speaker 3 (17:18):
Two.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
It is so much nicer, you know, having people in
play and you know, you're personalil and at kind of stuff.
So it's been a good summer so far. We've just
got to finish strong.

Speaker 3 (17:26):
Yeah there you go. We still got that store downtown.

Speaker 2 (17:27):
What's it called now, precious cargo?

Speaker 1 (17:30):
Yeah, cargo, you got it, buddy, Have a great day, coach,
Thank you so much.

Speaker 3 (17:34):
All right, you got it Brian Moore, the head football
coach of the Open, like a bulldogs this morning
