Speaker 1 (00:05):
You, guys. I can't even begin to tell you what
a difference this show could make today in the beginning
of your new year. And I'm not kidding. It's the
last show of the year. Mindy's in Nashville, and we
have a very special co host with us that we
thought would be perfect for where you are at this
moment on December twenty eighth, So I hope you can

(00:25):
stick around for the next couple of hours. Are really
going to hit it hard at five o'clock. But trust
me when I say we're going to make you think
about things. Kat Artavius joins me in the share. We're
also on Facebook live on my Facebook page. Cat, Oh
my gosh, when you told me you could come today,

(00:45):
I was so excited.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
I was so excited that you invited me. I'm thrilled.
I'm so excited to be here. It's been almost a
year since I was here before.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
Yeah, so Mindy introduced me to Kat and she was
here January nineteen, and our brain's kind of exploded. Based
on what you do and in the busy life that
is life that all of you understand, Cat and I
had a chance to meet up in was it August?
It was hot outside.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
It was hot and sunny, so.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
Yes, and it's hot today, which is not sunny. And
we had a chance to talk. And I'd wanted to
talk to Kat since January. So why is Kat the
perfect co host for the end of the year. Well,
Kat's a corporate battye and on top of that is
a mindset coach that has almost thirty thousand followers on Instagram,

(01:38):
constantly inspiring people. So Kat again, so glad you're here.
Remind people, since we've only been able to have you
in one time this last year, and it was almost
a year ago, remind people who you are and how
this journey started.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Well, oh my gosh, thank you so much. I'm so
excited to be here. When I got the message, yes,
was it yesterday day before.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
A couple of days ago, I was.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
Like, this is so so perfect. So I am an
author and a mindset coach. So I wrote a book.
I brought it here today. We're going to talk about
it later. It's called a New Way to Think About Thinking.
So my book is based on I spent twenty six
years with anxiety and depression and just really waking up

(02:27):
every day and wanting to go back to bed like.
It was hard two and a half decades and I
finally found my way out of it. I found my
way out of it mainly learning how to think thoughts
that support me instead of thoughts that were against me.
I tried everything, and it's not that those other things
didn't help. Other modalities. I've done lots of different types

(02:50):
of therapy and different types of other things, but really
the foundation really started with how I think. So I
have spent now it's been almost eighteen years, really creating
this life that is like for me, a dream life,
like I have manifested things that I didn't think were possible.

(03:12):
I wake up happy every single day, and to me,
the greatest gift is to be able to give these
things that I've learned back to others. That's why I
wrote this book. It's why I wrote this journal that
we're going to talk about later, and it's kind of
my obsession. Honestly.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
For those of you who are watching on Facebook Live again,
we're on my page. I will hold this up. It's
the journal that kat is talking about is Sunday Night Reminders,
fifty two weeks of motivation, encouragement and inspiration. And I
have to tell you, and some of you know from
Mindy and I talking. I love great goals, I love intension.

(03:48):
I love figuring out what you're doing on purpose. I
have used Sunday night reminders. I was telling Kat this
journal probably somewhere between thirty two and thirty five weeks
of this year after we met. You love this and
it has made a real difference in the way that
I start my weeks.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
I love it. So that's exactly what it's for. And
it's fast, right, it doesn't doesn't take a lot of time.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
Put it next to my bedside table, turn on a light,
get out of pen.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
And ten to fifteen minutes later at the most right
at the most.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
Yeah, So we are going to talk about that, and
Kat has so much wisdom to share for what she's
been building for the last almost two decades. And one
other question before we tea up the rest of the show.
You do have this really amazing following on Instagram. The

(04:43):
people who follow you, the dms, you get what is
going through their mind as they find you and start
to follow you. Can you shed a little light on that?

Speaker 2 (04:54):
Yeah. So most of the people that I come in
contact with that follow me, or people that de I mean,
I get so many dms on the daily are usually
where I was, so I am always speaking to the
person that needed me, you know, twenty years ago. And
these are folks that are oftentimes struggling, but they want
something more. They've discovered that they need to do something

(05:17):
with their thinking, but they're not quite sure what to do,
Like how do I stop these autopilot thoughts happening in
my mind? You know? How do I you know, how
how do I turn a situation into something that you know,
I can find appreciation in? Those are those are the
kinds of things that I get, like, please help me
figure out how to think my way through this. These

(05:40):
are folks that, you know, there's lots of people are
struggling right now, and they have been. I mean, it's
it's nothing new, but I think people are finding more
and more that it's not just about waking up and
saying that you're going to be happy, right It's about
creating a mindset that actually does support you and it

(06:03):
doesn't have to be all the time. That's that's what
I tell people, Like, I'm not someone who's you know,
that toxic positivity one hundred percent of the time. I'm
bouncing around. But if you can learn to tip those
scales like sixty forty, like sixty percent of the time
you're creating a mindset that supports you. And then forty
percent of the time maybe you've got those autopilot thoughts,

(06:25):
maybe there's some junk going on in your life that
you don't like. That sixty percent is going to carry you.
It's going to create more and more of the autopilot
thoughts that support you. You know, so eventually you can
like turn that mindset around. And so anyway, that's the
people that reach out to me, they're looking for that.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
It's so interesting because you are not toxic positivity. I
know that based on the journaling that I do and
the prompt that you give each Sunday night in the
journal and even sometime from the prompts you give on
Instagram that come through stories and whatnot. So for those
of you who are like, oh, this is a bunch

(07:06):
of whatever, no, like no cat keeps it real and
keeps it real in a way that you do lean
more towards that sixty forty. And I think to your point,
that's so important in the world that we live in today.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
Oh it is it really is so. I always say,
like back when I suffered daily from anxiety and depression,
if something happened that was like a big challenge, or
maybe something happened at work, or maybe I felt not
good enough. Shame. Shame is a big one for me.
Fear and shame are the ones that to always get
me that that could lead me down a negative path

(07:42):
for a month, Whereas nowadays I have the tools to
take the step back, get into the present moment, think
my way through it, and understand that I can come
out of this in twenty four hours. I'm still going
to feel some shame. I might even feel afraid of
what the next steps are, but I know how to
navigate that. And that's what I think is important. Is

(08:05):
we are made to feel all the feelings. We're going
to have feelings like we just need to ask ourselves, like,
is what my mind is creating right now? Is that
the truth? Is? That?

Speaker 1 (08:16):
The truth is what my mind creating? The truth? You guys,
am telling you five o'clock's gonna slap, as my fifteen
year old would say, so make sure you stick around
and if you're not able, to make sure you catch
the podcast that we'll post a little later this week. Okay,
so we're going to talk to Cat. We're gonna get
ready for twenty twenty six. So excited. In the first

(08:39):
hour though, we have a lot of giveaways which we're
so excited about COSI will be in to talk about
all the new things that are going on there in
the new year and what's currently going on while your
kids or grandkids are on you know their break and Cat,
you have kids. Your kids are older than mine, but
I want to say about ten years.

Speaker 2 (08:58):
Yeah, my kids are twenty seven.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
Yes, so you've done some Kosi time.

Speaker 2 (09:04):
I've done all the co site. I gave them a
lot of money over the years. I mean, it's got
everything for every age. Really, we always had a membership.
I looked at the I got on their website today
and kind of looked through what they have and the
stuff they have coming up is so fun and a
lot of it's stuff that we've done that I've done

(09:25):
with my children.

Speaker 1 (09:26):
So I think you're right, there's stuff there for every
single age and that's the beauty of it. And doctor
Burtley's going to join us ahead of the new year
to talk a little bit about what's going on and Also,
we're going to give away a four pack to the
Science behind Pixar, which is a VIP experience and an
exhibit they have right now. Yeah, I bet your kids

(09:46):
were Pixar kids. I guarantee that one wasn't.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
That wasn't a toy story. It was toy story.

Speaker 1 (09:51):
Yeah, that was Pixar. And we're also speaking of older
kids in your life or maybe for you and friends.
There's a Kosai app Dark Science Rave. We're going to
give a four pack of tickets away to that as well.
That is the adult very twenty one only version of
an Over, So we'll do that at four thirty five.

(10:13):
We have some good news to talk about as well
during the four o'clock hour. Give us a little tease.
Don't tell us when it is, but give us a
little teas because you brought a good news story with you. Did.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
I was so excited about this because I've actually been
sharing it with people just randomly and it didn't even
happen to me. So I'll give you a little tease.
This is for anybody who is an animal lover, specifically
dog lovers, So.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
That's what it is. You have a paw, you're wearing
a paw on your necklaces. You must be a dog mom.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
I am a dog mom. I have two golden doodles.
They are both rescues. My one, my older one. Her
name is Arta. How could I not adopt her when
her name is Arta and my last name is Artemis. Yes,
but she lived in a cage for eight years. She
was used. She was a commercial breeding mom. So sad,
such a sad story. But I got her at eight

(11:06):
years old. Her entire back kind and had been covered
in burns from being cattle prodded. Oh my god, I know,
I know.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
I can't even imagine what some of these animals go.

Speaker 2 (11:17):
Throught crazy, But they can be such amazing pets when
you get them, you know.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
They can be definitely absolutely so Mindy will be very
happy that you brought a good news story that is
all about animals and dogs. So we're heading that direction.
We're also going to talk a little hot topic here
in the next few minutes, and I thought I would
bring one in Kat that has to do with kids

(11:43):
in high school right now, and it'd be interesting to
get your perspective and the perspective of those of you
at home or listening as you're going about your business today.
It has to do with literacy and some issues we're
having right now. And is there a class divide when
it comes to what kids are learning their critical reasoning

(12:05):
and thinking. So I'll tee, I'll te that one up
right now.

Speaker 2 (12:10):
Oh I love that. I I love this conversation. I
can't believe we're about to have this. I just spoke
to someone the other day who she discovered that her stepson,
who was thirteen at the time, had a really bad
reading disability, learning disability, but nobody had caught it. No
one had caught it, and he was basically like reading

(12:32):
at you know, a kindergarten level and he.

Speaker 1 (12:34):
Was thirteen, thirteen years old. Yeah, yeah, So do we
have a problem. Do you have someone in your life
that you're you know, wondering, are they struggling? Is it
a teen in your life that's struggling. Do you think
teens are struggling. I'm going to give out the phone
number because that will be our hot topic six one
four eight two one nine eight eighty six six one

(12:55):
four eight two one WTVN and we will talk about
that and do some great giveaways to Valleydale for New
Year's Eve. We'll get that done this hour as well.
We have tickets worth about one hundred and sixty dollars
to send people to an amazing big band New Year's Eve,
So that is all coming up here in just a

(13:15):
minute or two.

Speaker 2 (13:16):
Very good. Get ready, Kat, I'm ready.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
We're doing it.
